which has been dubbed a “Special and Unique 40 Years Anniversary of W.A.S.P
The tour kicked off at Drottningtorget in Trollhättan
Speaking to The Metal Voice earlier this month
Holmes indicated as follows about his Scandinavia tour (as provided by The Metal Voice): “These shows are completely different
I’m playing on the normal side that I play [on stage]
I got a guy called Sleazy [guitarist] who is taking the Randy [Piper] side doing exactly what Randy did
And our bass player is in the middle singing and we are doing the London Lyceum [W.A.S.P
video recorded at London’s Lyceum on October 24
1984] songs except “School Daze” and “The Flame”
I took those out and put “Wild Child” and “95 Nasty” and “I Don’t Need No Doctor”
And I’m going to play what I did in the Live Lyceum [in London] show 40 years ago
I’m doing the Live Lyceum show without all the torture and blood and stuff [production] but we are going to do the songs
Another song we put in there is “Blind In Texas” which was not on the Lyceum [performance] but I put that in too
Also the last song will be “Rockin’ In The Free World” [cover] at the end
These shows coming up will be something I have never done
I will be doing the Mean Man stuff [setlist].”

The seaside town of Fjallbacka on Sweden's west coast © Christian Nielsen
Christian Nielsen is a journalist and keen tourism industry watcher based in Brussels
He writes pretty much anything that takes his fancy
from the woes of travelling with kids to the latest ‘impact investing’ developments in Europe
But most of his output these days is in EU affairs
When I said I’d be spending a night in Trollhättan, a former industrial city at the drainpipe end of Vänern, Sweden’s largest lake, people just looked perplexed. A couple may have even chuckled. But as the self-appointed ambassador for the “23rd-largest city in Sweden”, according to an understated Wikipedia entry
I set about to convince any and all that taking the more circuitous southern route from Stockholm to Malmö was worth the effort.
My four-night journey took in the likes of Örebro, with its imperious castle, skirted the Norwegian border where fjällen (‘the fells’ mountain range) taper off to the North Sea
and plied the lake’s edge and hinterlands for some cultural and natural excursions
The trip was capped off by a sneaky stop in Trollhättan – an emerging film hotspot dubbed ‘Trollywood’ by the usual wags.
the township of Trollhättan grew out of its strategic position at the mouth of the Göta River linking Lake Vänern to the port of Gothenburg
Sweden’s second-largest city 75km south. Literally translated as “troll’s bonnet”
the name Trollhättan pays homage to Scandinavian folklore
Some believe it stems from the hat or hood-like formation of the waterfall tumbling through the town centre; more mystical types will say the gorges of the Göta Älv were carved by giant trolls
forming “islands in the river” or “hättor”.
the resulting geology combined with engineering feats over the centuries leave a powerful impression – with a series of cascades and spillways weaving through the centre
Visitors can see first-hand the locks in action as vessels make their way along the waterways laden with cut pine and other goods.
the canal linking the two lakes took ten years to build and is still one of the largest construction projects ever in Sweden
and remains one of the country’s more popular tourist destinations.
Trollhättan is also the original home of Saab Automobiles and remains to this day a centre for diehard enthusiasts of the iconic Swedish cars built in the Trollhättan plant from 1949 till the company ceased production once and for all in 2014. Saab’s story of innovation
quality and quirks is captured in a dedicated museum just outside the city centre
facing the canal and an impressive draw bridge for passing ships
why did my visit to Trollhättan elicit such (barely concealed) mirth?
but part of the answer probably dates back to post-industrial changes in Sweden (as elsewhere) and the declining significance of waterways in today’s transport mix
But it is also likely a product of socio-economic struggles in the wake of Saab’s closure
and perhaps its proximity to the more glitzy coastal destinations
from Gothenburg right up to the Norwegian border.
For some Swedes and most non-Swedes the only thing they know or can remember hearing about Trollhättan lately is the tragic school stabbings in 2015 by a 21-year-old dressed as a wannabe movie villain
Reports at the time said he even posed for pictures with students before the spree began.
“Sweden has reacted with shock and horror after a teacher and pupil were stabbed to death in a school with a high number of immigrants by a masked man who was reported to have far-right sympathies,” noted The Guardian at the time.
being the one to dispel myths gives great pleasure in the case of Trollhättan
Call it the third act in a redemption story
The emergence of a vibrant film scene in Trollhättan Municipality is perhaps a testament to the appeal of a city flexing its post-industrial muscle. Downtown, the movie studio Film i Väst produces about half of all Swedish full-length films, according to Move to Gothenburg
“The high concentration of productions has led many cinematography-related businesses to establish their headquarters or branches in Trollhättan
They constitute an important part of fast-growing creative activities,” Move to Gothenburg explains
Some recent titles co-produced by the Trollhättan studio include The Girl with the Needle (2024), loosely based on the Danish serial killer Dagmar Overbye
a Palme d’Or-winning comedy about the social hierarchy being turned upside down
Most Swedes and cinephiles abroad will recall an earlier production by Film i Vast
featuring the antics of a 1970s Swedish hippie commune.
Celebrities from the large and small screen have been sighted in the town over the years. The community created its own version of a Walk of Fame along Storgatan
Notable stars on the ‘Walk’ include Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård and Australian actress Nicole Kidman who both featured in Lars von Trier’s Dogville (2003) filmed in the area
Gothenburg is also keen to get in on the act by offering favourable conditions for the film sector, according to reports. This includes access to expertise in game development, advertising, and feature film production, as well as facilities within Gothenburg Film Studios’ 10,000m2 complex – and a critical mass of around 40 companies already working in the hub
It’s my contention that the natural beauty of the fells and lakeside wetlands
combined with the gutsy heritage and engineered majesty of the likes of Trollhättan, Örebro
and Karlstad make for a more well-rounded tour than a fly-in-fly-out trip to Sweden’s west coast or flagship cities.
If you do wish to combine the coast and hinterlands, however, some recommendations for seaside trips include the village and island of Marstrand, where those not easily spooked can visit and even spend a night at a B&B annexed to Carlsten’s Fortress.
and includes free walks round the rock carvings and a neat visitor centre and open air mock village
“Ingrid Bergman called Fjällbacka her paradise on earth,” notes Vastsverige website
spent many a summer in the village with family
“Camilla Läckberg places her murder mysteries [in the seaside village] and Astrid Lindgren’s book
was filmed in the famous Kungsklyftan that splits Vetteberget in half.”
to stories of (re)invention in response to changing societal cues and hues
then head to the source – the great lakes of southern Sweden

India's Top
guitarist Chris Holmes launched his Scandinavian tour
billed as a "Special And Unique 40 Years Anniversary Of W.A.S.P
August 23 at Drottningtorget in Trollhättan
The setlist for the concert was as follows
Fan-filmed video of the entire show can be seen below
Earlier this month, Holmes told Canada's The Metal Voice about his Scandinavian tour: "These shows I'm doing are completely different
I haven't done this for years… I'm not singing [at] these shows
I'm playing on the normal side that I play at
I've got a guy called Sleazy — he's taking the Randy [Piper
and our bass player is in the middle singing
and we're doing exactly the London Lyceum songs [which were included in W.A.S.P.'s video recorded at London's Lyceum on October 24
I put in 'Wild Child' and '9.5.-N.A.S.T.Y.' and 'I Don't Need No Doctor'."
Holmes went on to say that his tour is celebrating "40 years of the first [W.A.S.P.] tour
frontman] doing [with the upcoming W.A.S.P
without all the torture and the blood and stuff
Regarding his mindset going into playing the W.A.S.P
I can't say I'm not gonna play with the same intensity
just making sure that I know that the old parts
Plus I have the other guitar player playing all of Randy's parts
One other song we put in there's is also 'Blind In Texas'
Asked how he feels about Blackie embarking on a tour to celebrate the 40th anniversary of W.A.S.P.'s debut album by performing the LP in its entirety
and he's screaming the whole time and screaming over every song
except for 'Sleeping (In The Fire)' he sang
I even told him that after [we recorded] the album
'You're gonna have problems singing this.' Hey
and that's what the people wanna hear or see or whatever
in 1982 and remained with the group until 1990
Holmes completed seven weeks of radiation therapy in his battle with cancer in throat and neck
In September 2022, Chris told Canada's The Metal Voice that he hadn't heard from Blackie since his diagnosis
He said: "Blackie could have helped to pay for some of my treatment
He was the first one; he forked over 500 bucks
A few hours after Chris's diagnosis was made public in February 2022
Lawless released a statement via W.A.S.P.'s social media in which he said: "The entire W.A.S.P
family are all optimistic of a positive outcome concerning the diagnosis for Chris
Holmes told SiriusXM's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk" that W.A.S.P
it wasn't a group — it was a one-man show," he said
"And it's been a one-man show after that ever since
drummer Tony Richards and Blackie were all part of W.A.S.P
but Blackie was the only one signed to the record label
"Everybody thinks we [all] signed to the label
but it wasn't [like that]," Holmes told "Trunk Nation"
Despite the fact that he only got songwriting credit on a couple of the songs on each of the first four W.A.S.P
Holmes was adamant that his input was essential to the band's overall sound
"If I would have quit after the first album
the way I play is really important to writing those songs," he told "Trunk Nation"
when he came and talked to me to play in W.A.S.P
It's not gonna work unless you're in it.' He told me that to my face."
Lawless shot down Holmes's claim that the guitarist was "screwed" out of receiving royalties on the W.A.S.P
Lawless discussed Holmes's tenure with W.A.S.P
in an interview with "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk"
Asked to respond to Holmes's assertion in Chris's recently released documentary "Mean Man: The Story Of Chris Holmes" that he was financially taken advantage of during his time in the band
Lawless said: "I don't really know much about… I spoke to [former W.A.S.P
guitarist] Randy Piper a couple of years ago
I don't really know what's going on with the rest of the guys
And I'm not sure exactly what you're talking about with Chris about not being paid
at two different points in his musical career
received settlements from this band; he signed documents as such," Blackie explained
The answer I'm giving you right now is based on what you just said to me."
frontman went on to confirm that he hadn't seen Chris's documentary and was once again asked about Holmes's claim that there is money and songwriting credits that he didn't get that he's due
During a November 2017 press conference in Moscow
Lawless was asked what he would say to those W.A.S.P
fans who continue to call for the band to reunite with Holmes
He responded: "People get divorced for certain reasons
and there's times when the kids want the parents to get back together
Many thermal manufacturing methods require heating the materials to high temperatures
Those processes are essential to produce metal parts and components for our modern society
The process outcomes depend on the material properties of the metals
Although those manufacturing methods are used
their complexity often requires extensive process control and material testing to ensure quality
The fluid dynamic effects of overheated molten metals can affect the material properties after solidification
a better understanding of the material properties can help to reach a more efficient material processing at higher and predictable quality
which promises to save resources and energy
Important manufacturing methods that will benefit from increased knowledge about high-temperature material properties are AM techniques
which are increasingly used within Industry 4.0
AM enables the production of parts with lightweight designs and complex
which will be necessary for the efficient use of resources on our planet
Metal 3D printing is based on generating a metal melt pool and incorporating additional material to build structures both for Directed Energy Deposition (heat sources: laser beam or arc) and Powder Bed Fusion Processes (heat sources: laser or electron beam)
The metal surface is locally heated to temperatures above melting temperatures (e.g.
sometimes close or even above boiling temperatures (iron: 2861 °C)
This means that the formation of the material within the new structure happens at high temperatures
many material properties are unknown in those conditions
and the creation mechanisms of defects like spatters or porosity are not well understood yet but are highly relevant to achieving high-quality outcomes
material properties after cooling depend on the thermal history that the material experienced
which requires knowledge about material behaviour and thermal management and control
Many high-temperature processes depend on the surface tension of the material
Surface tension is a force in the surface direction that tends to act like a skin holding the material together
The effect might be known from the possibility for insects to walk on water
surface tension defines the formation of droplets
and pores and the spreading behaviour of structures
Since surface tension is such a relevant parameter
Surface tension depends on the temperature
making a precise measurement or theoretical prediction challenging
There are many methods to measure surface tension
Contact methods can fail at such high temperatures and conditions of constant surface temperatures are difficult to realise
material research was funded by Vetenskapsrådet (The Swedish Research Council) to explore new ways of gaining insight into the high-temperature surface tension of metals
Surface wave measurements induced by a high-intense laser illumination were suggested to derive surface tension values
The laser beam is a great tool to induce different melt surface temperatures
(1) Like throwing a stone into water and observing the radial waves
waves were observed on liquid metal surfaces
The frequency and wavelength of those waves are related to the surface tension
Using a high-speed camera and parallel temperature measurements
surface tension values were obtained and related to the actual temperature
Based on measurements and theoretical derivations of surface tension at and just above melting temperatures
the literature suggests that a linear decrease of surface tension is expected at increasing temperatures
This assumption would mean that surface tension disappears at some point
experimental and theoretical works were conducted to clarify the surface tension behavior at higher temperatures
Surface wave measurements show that surface tension values around the melting point can be validated by literature data (Fig
when increasing the temperature above the melting temperature
surface tension values are lower than the literature would suggest
The decrease in surface tension seems to be steeper
This indicates that the surface tension does not disappear
(2) Based on those measurements below boiling temperature
an exponential decrease was suggested as an empirical description of surface tension
To better understand the reason for this trend
a simplified atomic model was built based on the arrangement of liquid iron atoms in a cube lattice
A simple Lennard-Jones interaction was assumed
The interactions between the atoms position the atoms
and the forces between the surface atoms give an indication of the surface tension
Even though the model contains simplifications and assumptions
the general trend of the surface tension was calculated comparable to the experimental measurements (Fig
Simulation results indicate that the reduction of the strength of interaction between the atoms has a larger decreasing impact on the surface tension at increasing temperatures and that at least two atomic layers contribute to the actual surface tension at elevated temperatures of steel
Understanding the precise behavior of molten metal at high temperatures can improve the part properties and increase the competitiveness of European Union industry

Freitas developed the COVID guardians programme
who were responsible in monitoring and following up on the measures already implemented for COVID-19 and advising users
employees and other people on compliance with distancing
hygiene and health measures recommended by health authorities
He also developed a COVID booklet with information and guidance for the airport community regarding good hygiene and health practices and led the beginning of the publication of a monthly newsletter with passenger curve information
allowing the planning of reopening and rehiring by commercial stores
Freitas also supported the reduction of OPEX by planning the temporary closure of areas
toilets and equipment in common use and internalising some activities
Raghunath worked closely with all the aero concessionaires and cargo operators to minimise disruption and provide financial relief to them
The airline marketing team helped launch a historic first route to the U.S
West Coast and the cargo team at BIAL also achieved record numbers over this period
with the airport becoming India’s leading airport for the export of perishables
Raghunath has led a digital transformation and expansion at BIAL airport
with new initiatives and the deployment of the fully biometric-based self-boarding solution for seamless passenger flow and travel experiences and a process automation and analytics platform
meant that the airport won ACI World’s ‘Voice of the Customer’ initiative
which recognised BIAL airports efforts to prioritise their customers during COVID-19
Raghunath has remained a staunch and resilient leader during such an uncertain time and is very much appreciated by his team
Alicia Prince has played a critical role in leading and navigating Cairns Airport through the COVID-19 pandemic
Prince implemented a functional plan to ensure business continuity and staff welfare
segregating front-line operational staff into work teams to avoid interaction between groups
She ensured that the $55 million domestic Terminal upgrade continued safely despite the unprecedented COVID-19 crisis
She also deployed the COVIDSafe Operation Plan for Cairns Airport
which was endorsed and later commended by Queensland Chief Health Officer
As part of this plan Alicia developed an airport layout to provide physical separation of low risk and high-risk arrivals and initiated increased hygiene and sanitisation protocols
The health and safety of the airport community was paramount to maintaining operations
and in response to this Alicia initiated a COVIDSafe training program for the entire airport community and worked closely with her team to deliver
As a result of the great work Prince has done to ensure COVID-19 best practices
Cairns Airport was one of the first Australian Airports to be awarded an ACI Global Health Accreditation
Alicia also led the terminal optimisation project
which assessed and implemented terminal downscales due to the crisis
Significant savings (both financial and environmental) were achieved by reducing the operational footprint of the airport
Whilst maintaining operations throughout the pandemic was a priority
Alicia ensured her team were kept well informed and engaged
Cairns Airport has a team of 33 volunteers which form part of Alicia’s wider team
To ensure they remained connected and cared for
Alicia and her team created care packages including home-made cakes and personally delivered to each of the volunteers’ houses in a COVIDSafe manner
Alicia demonstrated great leadership throughout the pandemic and continues to do so today
Her clear and transparent communication and collaboration with other Australian Airports and key agencies to ensure best practice and alignment contributed greatly to business continuity
all the above was managed whilst working remotely and juggling home schooling with her two young boys
Balram Bheodari leads Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport as North America’s most efficient airport
due to his vast knowledge of and astute attention to efficiency in aviation
which has allowed the airport to thrive in the most difficult of markets
and selflessness to provide a quality of leadership throughout Atlanta Airport
He oversees all facets of airport governance
including operations and a multi-billion-dollar capital improvement programme
designed to pave the way for Atlanta’s growth over the next 20 years
Bheodari developed a comprehensive resumption of operations playbook that served to support ATL’s recovery efforts
With guidance from the Federal Aviation Administration and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) amid evolving health and safety guidelines
Bheodari steadfastly encouraged collaboration among stakeholders
he participated in daily calls with Airports Council International and other large-hub airports to share best practices as well as information from Washington
He aimed to restore customer confidence and ensure the airport was a healthy facility using COVID-19 safe protocols
the airport achieved Airport of the Year by the Airport Minority Advisory Council (AMAC)
Bheodari was the most ardent supporter of our mission-critical employees
Having worked his way up through the ranks
he fully appreciates the oftentimes thankless jobs these employees perform that keep the Airport safe and running optimally at all times
Morale never flagged because Bheodari made sure those employees felt valued through hazard pay
His actions and his directives all reflect his commitment to the three key focus areas of our organisation’s strategic plan: people
Jonas Abrahamsson has shown the strength to steer the company towards its long-term sustainable goals
Abrahamsson has ensured that Swedavia achieved its net zero target for all ten of the airports in 2020 and has continued to support strategic development and innovation to further the cause of sustainable air travel
when passenger numbers where down over 90 per cent and a lot of investments were paused
he decided that investments in the company’s net zero target should proceed
allowing Swedavia to become the first net zero airport group by the end of 2020
Chris Dinsdale has worked at Budapest Airport since 2015
where he was nominated for the position as CEO
fought relentlessly to make sure that the company survived the crisis and worked with great commitment to secure the funding of the airport
a voluntary salary cut for the executives and the founding of the Budapest Airport Foundation
which supports blue collar workers who lost their job during the COVID-19 pandemic
After being nominated to CEO position in March 2021
Dinsdale continues to work closely with the executive team to create a clear COVID-19 recovery strategy for Budapest Airport
This will also mean that we come out stronger of the pandemic and have a clear focus
Dinsdale is an inspiring true leader who helped us all to cope with the very difficult times of the pandemic and I am convinced that he truly deserves this award

Sweden school attack: police investigate racist motive for double murderRead moreSweden has reacted with shock and horror after a teacher and pupil were stabbed to death in a school with a high number of immigrants by a masked man who was reported to have far-right sympathies
who posed with students before starting his killing spree
He was named in Swedish media as 21-year-old Anton Lundin Pettersson
on Thursday as parents and pupils crowded outside Kronan school in the aftermath of the killings among large numbers of police and ambulances
“It is a black day for Sweden,” said the prime minister
King Carl Gustaf said Sweden was “in shock” following the attack and that the royal family received the news “with great dismay and sadness”
Kronan school attack witness tells of panic GuardianA teacher died at the scene
while a 17-year-old died later in hospital from stab wounds
were in a critical condition on Thursday night
Police said they had identified the attacker as a 21-year-old male but gave no further information
The killings took place in a school with a high proportion of immigrants, raising fears the killer’s motives may have been racist. The anti-racist organisation Expo
who “during the past month showed clear sympathies with the extreme right and anti-immigration movements”
Swedish police confirm one man dead, two students injured in school attack. Photograph: AFP/Getty GuardianDaniel Poohl, from the organisation, said: “It is too early to say anything concrete about the killer’s motives, but perhaps he was a lone wolf with far-right sympathies. This is traumatic for Sweden, something we haven’t seen before.”
Soon after the attacks, which happened at about 10am (0900 BST) on Thursday morning, a picture emerged of an ordinary school day that turned suddenly into a scene of terror.
“When we first saw him we thought it was a joke. He had a mask and black clothes and a long sword. There were students who wanted to go with him and hold the sword,” a student at the school told Swedish broadcaster SVT.
Mobile phone images of the suspect show a man in a helmet resembling that used by the Nazis, holding a sword and wearing what was described as a Star Wars mask. According to several witnesses, he allowed himself to be photographed with students, who took it to be a Halloween prank. Police said the man carried more than one weapon, including “at least one knife-like object”.

In a week when Sweden has basked in international attention after Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders said the US needed to move closer to Scandinavia
the country is emulating the violence familiar to US schools
when one young person died and six were injured in a shooting at a school near Gothenburg
only one person has died in Sweden in school violence
Police say they foiled a planned school shooting in Malmö in 2004
and threats of violence have occurred elsewhere
But the tragedy in Trollhättan has forced Swedes to ask if the traditional openness of their society may be putting pupils and teachers at risk
The school’s cafeteria and library were both open to the public
View image in fullscreenOnlookers stand outside a cordoned area after the attack
Photograph: Tt News Agency/Reuters“Of course schools should be open to society
not so anyone can walk in,” said Bo Jansson
“I am not sure we want a situation like in the US with detectors and security guards
offices and apartments you have security – why should schools have a worse situation?”
the Swedish Schools Inspectorate fined the city council 600,000 kronor (£46,000) for “substantial shortcomings in the areas of security and the study environment” at Kronan school
The inspectorate found a high turnover of staff
who lived in fear of some students and struggled to keep order
the cross-party education group on Trollhattän city council visited the school to look at the security situation
said the cafeteria should be closed to the public “because it creates a precarious situation for the students”
Police cordon off an area near a school in Trollhattan, western Sweden, after a masked man attacked people with a sword on Thursday, leaving four students and an adult injured. GuardianBut other councillors defended the school
which was only six years old and had seen substantial investment
“This kind of thing could happen in any school,” said Sofia Andersson
for the ruling Social Democrats in the city
It is difficult to speak about security measures in a Swedish context because people want an open society
“In recent years cities that were already safe have become even more safe
but neighbourhoods that already had problems with crime have got worse – we can see a polarisation.”
Kronan school is at the heart of Kronogården
a disadvantaged area where more than half the population was born abroad
Trollhättan has been named by researchers as the most highly segregated city in Sweden
with immigrants concentrated in Kronogården
The neighbourhood was among 38 named this month as Sweden’s most vulnerable in a report on “forgotten suburbs”
There has been a tense debate over immigration and asylum in Sweden, with the far-right seeking to exploit incidents of violence involving immigrants. In August, a refused asylum seeker stabbed two people to death in an Ikea store near Stockholm
There has been a spate of apparent arson attacks on refugee accommodation in the past week
Two hours before the attack in Trollhättan
officials announced Sweden was expecting to receive as many as 190,000 refugees this year – twice previous estimates

The NEVS Emily GT has received an important lifeline that should help it hit the production line
following confirmation a Canadian EV startup has bought the project
National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS) had been operating in Saab’s former home of Trollhättan
Sweden but was placed into hibernation mode by Chinese owner Evergrande Group
It unveiled the Emily GT back in April to show the world what it had been working on
This prototype has proved impressive enough for the project
and related assets to be purchased by EV Electra
Watch: What’s The NEVS Emily GT Actually Like To Drive?
The chief executive of EV Electra Jihad Mohammad confirmed the acquisition while speaking at the eCarExpo in Gothenburg, Sweden. The acquisition also includes the PONS autonomous pod developed by NEVS
EV Electra plans to bring the Emily GT into full-scale production at NEVS’s existing facility in Sweden
“We will have cars coming out of Trollhättan again,” Mohammad said
“We did this acquisition fully aware that we will need to back it all the way through development to mass production
I’m a firm believer in in-house production and strong balance sheets
I also believe Trollhättan has the personnel that can make our visions come true
The acquisition of the Pons and Emily projects signifies a pivotal milestone in our pursuit of innovation and sustainability
We’re thrilled to embark on this journey.”
The Emily GT has been conceived as a direct rival to the Tesla Model S and is intended to be offered with 105 kWh and 140 kWh battery packs
Development had progressed to the point where it was just 18 months from being ready for production
Four in-wheel electric motors combine to provide 484 hp
No financial details of EV Electra’s acquisition have been released and it isn’t known what changes
will be made to the Emily GT before it hits the production line
Mohammad described the PONS autonomous city mobility system as an important project “in revolutionizing metropolitan mobility with autonomous electric vehicle technology.” It will be produced at the same Trollhättan plant as the Emily GT.

Three more people were reported to have been injured
They have not yet been able to verify his identity but he is believed to have been a foreign national
they are cooperating with foreign authorities in an effort to establish the man’s identity and enable them to inform his next of kin
Three lanes of the E45 were reopened this morning after the lorry was finally removed from its position dangling some 32 metres above the River Göta
one of the northbound lanes is still closed
according to the Swedish Transport Administration
A report of gross negligence in traffic has allegedly been drawn up by the relevant authorities, reported svt.se this Wednesday 8

The incident occurred just before 7pm this Tuesday
one person has been taken to hospital with unreported injuries
it is unclear whether it is the lorry driver or someone else who has been taken to hospital
Two people reportedly had minor injuries and did not require hospital treatment

As a survivor of the Anders Behring Breivik attack
I believe that such violent extremists can be steered on to the right course by people in their everyday lives
In 2011 I came face to face with Anders Behring Breivik on Utøya island in Norway as he carried out his atrocious massacre
He pointed his gun and fired at me but missed
I survived and later testified against him in court
What we’re now seeing in Sweden resonates heavily with me
and since becoming involved in working against violent extremism
I have come to understand violent extremists as individuals capable of change
Read moreThe idea that violence can be rationalised by seemingly ordinary individuals might leave us scared and hopeless
But if people don’t need to be deeply mentally disturbed to contemplate horrific acts
There will be opportunities to change their minds
In seeking an understanding of what drove Pettersson
some have turned to reports that he “liked” YouTube videos by neo-fascist bloggers and videos glorifying Nazis
He is also said to have followed online content demeaning women
Through studies of the suspect’s online life
whose hatreds fed his own feelings of supremacy
but perhaps somebody who decided he had to act out against one of his many enemies in order to feel powerful
We know “normal” people can be drawn to extremism and violence
but also that normal people can help bring others out of extremism
a former neo-Nazi who was deeply involved in the white power movement
and who was first shaken from those views by a black woman at a McDonald’s cash register who met his hatred with unconditional kindness
How could someone approve of this video and still go on to become a murderer motivated by the kind of hate Clary deplored in it? Would watching such testimony make an extremist think twice about carrying out an attack?
Read moreWe’re missing a trick when it comes to those carrying out violent acts
Communities touched by violence have an understandable and overwhelming tendency to scrutinise the ways in which extremists
both those we consider “disturbed” and those we consider “ordinary”
But rather than trying to pathologise the individual or the process that led him there
we should shift the focus instead towards what opportunities are available to us to prevent him resorting to violence in the first place
moments when they could have been led to change
Hateful people have the ability to take charge of their own lives
we can view Pettersson’s act as the latest in an epidemic of young men who are not necessarily deeply disturbed
but rationalise their own violence and are inspired by others across the world
But if we did more to anticipate and intervene before such individuals erupt
then there is potential to stop ordinary people from becoming murderers
Rather than looking for the moment they “snapped”
we should be looking for the missed opportunities in the ways our societies handle them: the many moments when we could have changed their perceptions and steered them away from violence
We need to ensure that similar opportunities aren’t missed with others

According to Sweden's public broadcaster SVT, between 20 and 30 cars ended up being stuck between the flooded areas, with one affected driver telling public broadcaster SR that they had seen cars with "water up to the windscreen"

Sweden - The production lines at Saab Automobile's state-of-the-art Trollhättan plant began rolling again today
heralding a new era for the Swedish premium car maker as an independent company
Spyker Cars CEO Victor Muller and Trollhättan Plant Director Gunnar Brunius took up positions on the line alongside assembly workers as the first batch of cars was built
Production at the Trollhättan plant was originally halted for seven weeks
following the purchase of Saab Automobile AB by Spyker Cars NV
the first cars to be built by Saab as an independent company will soon be delivered to customers
"Today's resumption of production is a milestone in the history of our company" said Jan Åke Jonsson
"We are up and running as an independent manufacturer and I am delighted to share the experience on the line alongside our workforce
They have shown tremendous commitment to the company and we are all now focused on ramping up production to meet customer demand."
First on the line today was an all-new Saab 9-5 sedan
destined to join a test fleet prior to the model's official launch later this year
Further down the line was a Saab Convertible
now also being produced in Trollhättan as part of the concentration of Saab operations in Sweden
With the introduction of the new 9-5 SportCombi next year
a total of five model lines will be produced at the plant
world-class facility here at Trollhättan," said Plant Director Gunnar Brunius
"Our ability to build so many different models in one location improves plant utilization and will deliver valuable efficiency gains
With these state-of-the-art facilities and a dedicated workforce
CEO of Spyker Cars said: "Everyone at Saab has worked extremely hard to reach this important point
Today production restarted with a new 9-5 first down the line - a fitting symbol that a new era has begun."
SIDE-LINE
Two people were killed by a masked attacker
said to be 21-year old Anton Lundin-Pettersson
who entered a school in Trolflhättan armed with what looks like a sword
The incident happened in a 90% migrant school and it’s being considered that the attack was politically inspired
One of the dead victims is an adult male teacher
The second person died while undergoing surgery
Some reports say that he was listening to Rob Zombie’s “Dragula” whilst carrying out the attack
That wouldn’t be surprising because it was also the last video which he posted yesterday at 8:44pm on his Facebook page
The attacker himself was shot by the police and later succumbed to his wounds at the hospital
Below is a picture taken from the masked attacker earlier that day (actually moments before he would start the attack) in the uniform he wore
And here’s a screenshot of his Facebook page

Saab is back in the business of making cars again -at least for now- almost two months after production came to a halt on April 6 when the company’s suppliers stopped deliveries of parts in protest over unpaid bills. The Swedish company was able to restart production after receiving €30 million (US$42.8 million) in advance on a deal it has signed with Chinese car distributor Pang Da Automobile
The China company’s CEO, Mr. Pang Qinghua, visited the Trollhättan factory today together with CEO and Chairman of Saab Automobile
and witnessed the first vehicle to roll off the assembly line
Saab said around 100 cars were built today but plans to “increase the daily production rate in the coming weeks in parallel with the full re-establishment of the supply chain”
Commenting on the restart of manufacturing at the Swedish plant
“This is a great day for our company and it is great to see the plant running again
We have gone through a rough patch in recent weeks
I would like to express my deep gratitude to our fantastic suppliers who have worked so hard with us to make this happen
and to our loyal employees who have constantly stood by our side.”
A Saab spokesperson said that the automaker has to fill around 8,100 orders including 1,300 cars ordered by Pang Da Automobile as part of the rescue deal
the Chinese company paid €30 million for the purchase of the 1,300 cars and will buy a second batch of vehicles for €15 million within the next month
Pang Da Automobile will take a 24 percent stake in Saab’s parent company Spyker for €65 million and establish a joint-venture for distributing cars in China

Saturday marks one year since a masked man attacked the Kronan School in Trollhättan with a sword
and school officials say that steps still need to be taken to ensure a safer environment in the classrooms
21-year-old Anton Lundin Pettersson fatally stabbed three people - a teacher
a teaching assistant and a student - before police shot him to death inside the school
The racially motivated attack - in which Lundin Pettersson chose his victims based on their skin color - was Sweden's deadliest at a school
where such kinds of crimes are unimaginable
the president of the Swedish Association of School Principals
says members of his organization raised questions after the attack about what security measures are needed in Sweden to prevent future ones
"They were asking for a plan for all the schools in the municipality," Nilsson says
Nilsson says dialogue has started on the issue but that the nation's schools need to catch up when it comes to implementing plans
he says real progress has been made on the issue in Trollhättan one year later
"It's incredibly good work what they have done to secure the school." he tells Radio Sweden

Saab had plans in 2005 to release a Saab 9-6 SUV based on the Subaru Tribeca
Production of the vehicle had to be shelved due to General Motors selling its 20 per cent stakes in Fuji Heavy Industries (Subaru) in 2005
A concept version of that Saab 9-6 has just been revealed at Saab's museum Trollhättan
+ 6 Photos
This is the first time we've be able to get a glimpse of the Subaru-based 9-6
Although this is not what the upcoming production version of the 9-6 will look like
it might give some clues as to the size and style of the car
+ 6 Photos
A few weeks ago we reported that Saab had announced it was planning to introduce three new models: Saab 9-1, 9-6 and 9-7
the 9-6 will be targeted at the luxury end of the SUV market
much like this concept would have been if it made it to production
+ 6 Photos
Mr Pang Qingnian, CEO of Zhejiang Youngman Lotus Automobile (part owner of Saab), said in our previous report that the Saab 9-6, along with the upcoming Saab 9-7, would be "key to enhancing the prestige of the Saab brand", particularly in Chinese and US markets.
At this stage it is unknown if Saab will attach the 'X' to the end of the name of the production version like the recently released Saab 9-4X. It will feature an all-wheel drive drivetrain, so this might be the case. We'll keep you updated.

a young man walked into the Kronan school in the western Swedish city of Trollhättan and went on a stabbing rampage
The sword attack at a school in the west coast town of Trollhättan last year had been planned and the school carefully selected

He was not under the influence of any drugs and was not suffering from any mental ill-health
But there were signs of depressive behaviour and he did consider suicide a few months before the attack
He started an internship that he had hoped would lead to work
A few days after that he started planning the attack on the school
His internship would have ended a few days after the attack
Anton Lundin Pettersson was shot dead by police when they were trying to stop him
he had counted on being shot during the attack
something that sometimes is known as "suicide by cop"
The letter he left for his family confirms that

the police investigators believe he acted completely on his own
They have not found and "structured" communication with others in terms of values or ideologies
He had watched and saved pictures and films on his computer expressing racism
His attack is deemed as racially motivated and is categorised as a hate crime
When he walked around the school building with a sword and a big knife
he chose to attack several people who he judged to have immigrant background
they found Anton Lundin Pettersson in a corridor on the second floor of the building
They called out and he turned around and went for the attack

on Thursday after a person reported to have been wearing a Halloween mask and brandishing a sword attacked people at the Kronan school
police said they received the alarm just after 10 in the morning that a man was attacking students
the attacker had stabbed a teacher's assistant
The man had also stabbed a teacher inside the building
he knocked on the doors of different classrooms and attacked the students who opened
Police located the suspect on the second floor of the school and fired two shots

Students told Swedish Television News that when they first saw the man
and that ther were students who wanted to take photos with him and touch his sword
Police said the suspect was not known to them earlier

The Swedish intelligence service Säpo is helping the police in the investigation

A further pupil and a member of teaching staff were being treated at a nearby hospital
One of them was listed in critical condition
The Kronan secondary school has around 400 pupils up to the ninth grade and has been closed so that the police can carry out their investigation
Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven visited the scene of the attack late this afternoon
the dead and those who are being treated at the hospital," said Löfven
"We think of the ones near and dear to them
everyone who loves them and cares about them
the school personnel and the whole society here in Trollhättan."
Löfven said that the government and the responsible authorities would make sure to see they get the support they need
"I want all school children in Sweden to know that I am doing everything
will do everything in my power so you feel safe when you go to school
It is with deep dismay and grief that I and my family learnt about the events in #Trollhättan
Our thoughts are with those affected and their families
and with the victims who are now in a critical condition
as well as the pupils and staff at the school who now need all our support."
Concerns have been raised about a café located on the school site which is open to the public

He was even interrogated for the first time by the police on Wednesday at the Näl hospital in Trollhättan
"He was able to cooperate for a short while and could tell us his version of what had happened," police commissioner Thord Haraldsson tells Swedish Radio's local channel Väst
Haraldsson explains that the teacher confirmed what other witnesses have said about the attack
The teacher is the third victim of the attack
perpetrated by 21-year-old Anton Lundin Pettersson
Lundin Pettersson used a sword and had "racist motives" according to the police
The other two victims were a teaching assistant and a male student
The attacker died later of the gunshot wounds he received during his apprehension
