one of the world’s pioneers in green and renewable hydrogen
announces funding of up to c.€11 million (SEK 130 million) from Klimatklivet
an investment program supported by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency and co-financed by the European Union
to build a renewable hydrogen production facility in Vaggeryd
Vaggeryd is strategically located between Stockholm
near major transport hubs such as the E4 motorway and national road 40
As the transport sector transitions to lower climate footprint
including the adoption of hydrogen-powered vehicles
significant volumes of renewable hydrogen will be required
The production facility in Vaggeryd would supply the many refueling stations currently under construction in the area
forming a network of hydrogen supply along major transport routes
the hydrogen would also be supplied to industries for heating and production processes
Lhyfe would be able to produce up to 4.4 tons of green hydrogen per day (based on 10 MW of installed electrolyzer capacity) to meet this market demand and contribute to the goal of achieving net-zero emissions
The first kilograms of renewable hydrogen are expected to be produced in 2027
Combined with the previous grant Lhyfe obtained from Klimatklivet in June 2024 for an equally large plant in Trelleborg
these two units would create a robust supply network for renewable hydrogen in southern and central Sweden
which will fund the development and design phases
equipment procurement and construction work
represents approximately 35% of the total estimated investment cost for the project
Lhyfe is one of the world’s pioneers in producing green and renewable hydrogen through water electrolysis powered by renewable electricity
has been operational since the second half of 2021
and additional plants have since been installed in France and Germany
Further facilities are currently under construction or expansion across Europe
Lhyfe had 200 employees fully dedicated to renewable hydrogen production
with projects in 12 countries and a project pipeline of approximately 10 GW across Europe
“We are delighted to have been awarded this investment support
which marks our second project in Sweden to receive backing from Klimatklivet
Green hydrogen is a key enabler in the transition
strengthening the competitiveness of Swedish industry while increasing domestic energy security with locally produced energy
the waste heat generated during the production process will be utilized in the existing district heating network in Vaggeryd
Lhyfe already delivers green hydrogen to industrial customers in Sweden
and with the two facilities now granted Klimatklivet support
Lhyfe ensures a robust and competitive supply solution for green hydrogen for our customers in Sweden moving forward,” says Sara Wihlborg
The implementation of the project is subject to the granting of foreign investment authorisation
Lhyfe is a European group devoted to energy transition
and a producer and supplier of green and renewable hydrogen
Its production sites and portfolio of projects seek to provide access to green and renewable hydrogen in industrial quantities
and enable the creation of a virtuous energy model capable of decarbonizing entire sectors of industry and transport
Lhyfe inaugurated the first industrial-scale green hydrogen production plant in the world to be interconnected with a wind farm
it inaugurated the first offshore green hydrogen production pilot platform in the world
it has installed three new sites and currently has several sites under construction or expansion across Europe
Lhyfe is represented in 12 European countries and had 201 staff at the end of 2024
The company is listed on the Euronext market in Paris (ISIN: FR0014009YQ1 – LHYFE)

Lhyfe has once again secured $11 million in funding
having previously received the same amount for its first project in Trelleborg
This latest grant from Klimatklivet will support the construction of a green hydrogen production facility in Vaggeryd
located in Jönköping County in southern Sweden
the facility could produce up to 4.4 tonnes of green
supplying both the mobility and industrial sectors
Strategically positioned between Stockholm
Vaggeryd benefits from its proximity to major transport routes and logistics hubs
“ Green hydrogen is a key enabler in the transition
strengthening the competitiveness of Swedish industry while increasing domestic energy security with locally produced energy,” says Sara Wihlborg
the waste heat generated during the production process will be utilized in the existing district heating network in Vaggeryd,” she adds
The project remains subject to local investment approvals

As the world continues to focus on sustainable approaches to combat the endless consumption that we’re all guilty of creating
it’s vital that brands incorporate sustainable solutions that minimise negative environmental impacts
I was delighted to discover that at this year’s Stockholm Creative Edition
the event showcased leading Swedish brands and design studios that demonstrate the potential for design to do good
Among the companies participating this year was Swedish startup FORGO
which rethinks packaging solutions for common objects
from sustainable containers for cleaning products to everyday items such as a toothbrush
The brainchild of Swedish design studio Form Us With Love
at Stockholm Design Week back in February 2021
it’s one of the companies that I hope can sustain and develop some of their brilliant ideas
has a significant impact on the world and avoids millions of plastic bottles going from bathrooms to landfill
Meanwhile, the emerging designers from Stockholm’s Beckmans College of Design surprised me with mature design solutions, and Simon Mattisson
which bark beetles have increasingly attacked due to global warming
to create his contemporary pieces including his recent Granland series
‘There’s no effective way to counter the beetle
and Sweden is also a large exporter of spruce
By grinding down wood waste into a particulate form to produce ‘wood powder’ or ‘wood flour’
Mattisson then uses it in a new composite material for 3D printing that is 100% circular and made with 0% waste
Swedish furniture producer Swedese also showcased a beautifully shaped bench
created by Mattisson and fellow BA Design student Tora Kirchmeier
which gives the visual impression of a wave
Another new designer, and Ung Svensk Form winner, Gustav Winsth, presented Cross Section in collaboration with Tarkett at the company’s Stockholm showroom designed by Note Design Studio
Comprising a series of objects made from the Tarkett Circular Selection
the materials have been mounted and are shown as cross sections
Tarkett reuses old floors and reintegrates them across the world for businesses as large as IKEA
which on a global scale has a significant impact
‘For every square metre of vinyl floor that we recycle
the CO2 emissions are reduced by 10 kg,’ says Dag Duberg
Meanwhile, New Contemporary, a gallery-like showcase, displayed an array of exciting new designers. Scandinavian brand Studio Böja
who works with ecological and renewable rattan
displayed simplified stools using splice joints and triangulation
‘We are committed to making sure that non-toxic chemicals or non-recyclable materials are used in the production of our products’
Finally, Georgian-born, Stockholm based designer Revaz Berdzenishvili crafts particularly brilliant handmade earthenware lighting
inspired by the moon’s light over Stockholm – a perfect way to end this year’s Stockholm Creative Edition
which continues to shine a spotlight on emerging and established designers alike in Stockholm and beyond

Södra is acquiring Ture Johanssons Trävaru AB and AB Tenhults Impregneringsverk
The new sawmill and timber treatment facility will provide a better market for wood in a prioritised area and strengthen Södra’s customer offering in the Swedish building trade
It will also improve Södra’s ability to implement its Group strategy
“We look at specific needs and criteria when we develop our industrial structure
We are therefore delighted to welcome Ture Johanssons Trävaru and Tenhults to Södra
The companies will strengthen our operations and be an excellent complement along the E4 motorway
They have a long history in the area and will enable us to grow more together with our customers
We are looking forward to continuing to develop the operations together with the employees in Klevshult and Vaggeryd,” said Peter Jhaveri
Interim President of the Södra Wood business area
AB Tenhults Impregneringsverk is located at the Götafors industrial site in Vaggeryd and comprises four impregnation autoclaves
More than 100,000 m³ of timber are pressure treated at the facility every year
Tenhults has seven employees and is known for its environmental and NTR certified processes
Södra currently has six sawmills and two timber treatment facilities in Sweden
The newly acquired facilities are located in an area where Södra already has a stable raw material supply
but where it does not conduct its own industrial operations
These acquisitions will now help to strengthen the market for wood in central Götaland and improve Södra’s position in the Swedish building trade
will further strengthen the organisation by increasing the overall capacity and creating synergies with Södra’s existing production units
“Södra is to ensure a market for its members’ raw materials and increasing the value of their wood
Having relevant industrial operations in relevant central locations is a key part of this
These acquisitions will allow us to do just that
Ture Johanssons Trävaru and Tenhults will strengthen Södra’s customer offering and market for wood in an important geographic area
This is in line with our Group strategy and will provide us with better conditions for sustainable and profitable growth,” said Lotta Lyrå
“Södra will create opportunities for the continued development of the operations
It feels great to be handing over the reins to a member-owned association – with solid local roots and a long-term ownership horizon
we will make our customer offering even stronger,” said Lennart Johansson
The acquisitions will take effect immediately following approval by the Swedish Competition Authority
This process is expected to take up to six weeks
Södra is Sweden’s largest forest-owner association
with 53,000 forest owners as its members
We conduct modern and responsible forestry

the "On the Way" sculptures outside of Vaggeryd fascinate people passing by
Exactly what these sculptures along the E4 highway represent is not known
saying only that it's a public piece of art and that any interpretations are up to the beholders
The sculptures were carefully designed to be visible to everyone passing by on the highway (but at the same time not steal too much of a driver's attention)
One must admit that the artists succeeded: At 26 feet (8 meters) tall and 20 feet (6 meters) long
and the forest illuminated with red light in the dark
The sculptures can be seen on the right side of the E4 highway when traveling north from the town of Vaggeryd
It is possible to park the car at a road parallel to the highway
and walk a few hundred meters through the forest to reach them by foot

Sweden's high energy prices fall sharply after just a week
Southern Sweden last week had its most expensive electricity prices since the weeks before Christmas two years ago
Sweden is divided into four “electricity regions” from north to south
with the two southern regions starting around the town of Uppsala
paid around 1.50 kronor per kilowatt hour on average last week – whereas people in northern Sweden only paid around 0.09-0.10 kronor
the weekly average stood at just below 1.20 kronor per kilowatt hour
But the price increases appear to have been temporary
the daily price is set to land at 0.24 kronor in electricity area 4 and 0.27 kronor in electricity area 3
compared to 0.07-0.08 kronor in the two northernmost regions
The main reason for the price fluctuations is that Germany's wind-based energy production slowed down last week with very little wind
But they're compensating for that this week with stormy weather
