Today New York City Football Club (NYCFC) announced that it has signed defender Mitja Ilenič from Slovenian side NK Domžale through 2026 with an option for 2027, pending receipt of his ITC and P1 visa.
The Slovenian right-back made 32 appearances in Slovenia's first division, the PrvaLiga, scoring three goals across all competitions with The Yellows. The 18-year-old has also made seven appearances for the youth national team. Ilenič became the second youngest player to represent the U21 Slovenian National Team at the age of 17 years two months and 27 days.
“Ilenič is an attack minded right back who is comfortable in possession, has excellent physical attributes and can impact the game in the final third. We will support Mitja as it’s his first move to a club outside his home country, and as he adapts to a new environment. We look forward to seeing him compete and contribute this season and beyond.”
Mitja made his professional debut for Domžale in May 2021 in a league fixture against NK Aluminij Kidricevo at only 16-years-old. The talented right-back has also played in the UEFA Youth League and represented Slovenia during UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying.
Mitja Ilenič said: “I am excited to join NYCFC. It is a great Club with a strong coaching staff and talented players. I want to help the team compete across all competitions this season and look forward to meeting the team in preseason.
“I want to thank the Club for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to continue my development. I will work hard every day to improve and contribute in any way possible. It’s an honor to be representing New York City, I look forward to playing our first game at home in front of our fans.

Just how exciting can a museum of straw hats really be
much more than you might expect. This tiny museum is not just an exhibition about making straw hats with a few samples on display
it offers a glimpse into the glory days of the Slovenian town of Domžale
known far and wide for its straw hat production
And this was no small industry: Before the Second World War
it was customary in the West to wear hats when outdoors
and straw hats were preferred in hot weather or while working
The town began as a tiny village with access to fields of wheat
the straw from which was used to produce hats and baskets and other dry goods
local families would braid the straw together into usable threads
called butarice, which could then be sewn in the hats
These woven braids were either used at home to prepare finished products
some of the wealthier Hapsburg mercantile families
then set up factories for making straw hats
there were 25 straw hat factories of varying size in tiny Domžale
The town population rose from around 1,200 in the mid-1800s to over 2,100 by 1920
and those factories produced around one million straw hats a year
390 residents of Domžale moved to the United States
headhunted because of their expertise in straw hat making
Many of the best straw hat makers were women
and the museum displays photos of Domžale ladies teaching a factory full of Americans how to sew butarice.
straw hat making is just a boutique art form practiced by a few enthusiastic locals
a reminder that sometimes the smallest of towns can have a big impact on history
The museum also hosts events and a Straw Hat Fair each June.

Slovenian football has produced another promising young talent
as Miha Matjašec has officially joined Red Bull Salzburg from Domžale
The 16-year-old is seen as one of the country’s most exciting prospects
and his move mirrors that of Benjamin Šeško
who also made his name at Salzburg before becoming one of Europe’s most sought-after strikers
will see Domžale receive over €1 million
along with performance-based bonuses and a percentage of any future sale
"Miha’s transfer to Salzburg is yet another confirmation of the excellent work within our academy," said Matej Oražem
"After his strong performances at a tournament in Naples last summer
German and English top clubs were also monitoring him."
Domžale believes that choosing Salzburg is the best step for Matjašec’s development
"We made sure to listen to the wishes of the player and his family
Miha chose to follow the path of Benjamin Šeško
moving from NK Domžale to Red Bull Salzburg
We believe the final terms of the deal are very fair
including additional bonuses and a sell-on clause," added Oražem
Domžale and Red Bull Salzburg have long maintained a strong working relationship
frequently arranging youth exchanges and tournaments
"We’ve had great relations with Salzburg for years
which made negotiating this transfer much smoother
A big thank you also goes to the player's family

Very hot weather lately has resulted in a violent supercell storm over central Slovenia in the early evening of July 29th
A narrow swath from towns Vodice to Domžale was severely hit by hailstones up to around 10 cm in diameter
This was the first giant hailstorm event of 2020
here is a video of the brutal hailstones bombardment
The environmental conditions were very conducive to support severe storms development
A large upper wave was moving across northern Europe
An associated diffuse cold front was extending towards the Alps
Moderate westerly winds were present south of the Alps (over Slovenia)
with favorable easterly inflow in the lowest levels
The low-level conditions revealed a classic moisture pooling (moisture advection) with the easterly flow towards the Dynaric mountain range
High moisture contributed to a very strong instability
CAPE values were exceeding 2000 J/kg (per the closest Udine
NE Italy sounding diagram – see attached file below)
Near-surface conditions were ever more robust in central Slovenia
therefore even higher instability was likely present
Storm initiation first started over the mountainous terrain in the higher Alps
gradually spreading towards southeast across southern Austria and the border with Slovenia
The boundary layer was mostly capped until the late afternoon hours
storms also initiated in northern Slovenia and soon became a damaging hailstorm
They were feeding with the very moist and strongly unstable air mass in central Slovenia plains
Soon it began dropping hailstones up to 8.5 cm in the town
The storm evolution was extremely explosive
The view into the developing towers from a distance was beyond spectacular
Perfectly lit-up tilted and rotating updraft by sunset colors
The main storm was moving very slowly towards the east
Here is the radar scan of the classic HP (high-precipitation) supercell very slowly drifting east-southeast from near Vodice towards Domžale
Up to 10 cm hailstones were reported in the town
The visual of the radar from the eastern side of Ljubljana
A truly monstrous appearance of the supercell with a massive wall cloud
The storm was nearly stationary for some time
Storms slowly began clustering into a large system in the late evening hours
Additional hail was reported in some parts of central Slovenia
The cluster also produced numerous red sprites aloft
Notice there is the famous M31 Andromeda galaxy also visible next to the red sprites
Hailstorm did enormous damage along its path from Vodice to Domžale and also further southeast
Numerous cars and roofs were destroyed by giant hailstones
Below are sample photos from our reporters in the area
Here is another video reported by Nastja Volf
It shows severe roof damage after the hailstorm hit Rodica near Domžale
This giant hail event in Slovenia is the first after the record-breaking hailstorm with up to 14 cm in Predgrad near Črnomelj last year

Preparation and construction works at the Domžale railway station began towards the end of July 2022 and in September 2022 respectively and were completed in late July 2023
As part of the Domžale railway station upgrade project
new side and island platforms with an overhanging roof were built
The total length of the platforms is 160 m
Platforms and access routes are fitted with urban equipment
SOS posts and platform clocks are also installed on the island and side platforms
LED track displays and two central LCD displays with information on train departures are installed to visually inform passengers
For greater safety of the platform infrastructure and in the area of the railway station
a video surveillance system and new passenger sound and lighting systems have been installed
Overhanging roofs have been installed over the underpass staircase
at the side platform and at the turning point for buses
Overhanging roofs are made so that they provide easy access to the elevator on each platform
which facilitates unhindered access to and use of railway station infrastructure
A part of the overhanging roof of the island platform is also designed as a shelter for passengers
Access routes are bordered by metal railings
and a panel fence runs along the entire length of the station’s west side
preventing passengers from crossing the tracks
Access to the new island platform is provided by a new underpass
which has entrances from both the west and east sides of the station and an exit to the island platform
Stairs and elevators have been built at all three access routes
which allow the simultaneous transportation of 15 people
The new underpass also connects to Kolodvorska and Roška streets
The construction of the 31.37-metre-long and 5.2-metre-wide underpass took place in phases and lasted six months
In order to minimise hinderance in rail traffic
the main staircase was built on the side of the station building in the area of the previous emergency route in October 2022
During the closure of tracks 1 and 3 in the period between January and March 2023
part of the reinforced concrete frame of the underpass with two elevator shafts was built
work was also carried out on the lower and upper structures and the drainage in the area of the new tracks 1 and 3
traffic was diverted to the newly built tracks
track 2 was closed and the island platform and a staircase to Roška street were built
Work was also carried out on the lower and upper structures and the drainage in the area of track 2
There is also a new roof and facade and exterior and interior joinery
The building was newly connected to natural gas heating
the building had electric heating and was a major consumer of electricity
Due to the expansion of the technical rooms
the waiting room has been moved under the existing overhanging roof and is fully glazed
A new automatic sliding door has been installed on the west side of the waiting room
creating a connection from the parking lot with the waiting room and toilets to the train station platforms via the new underpass
The station building ensures unimpeded access
five switches and a level crossing right in front of the Domžale station was upgraded
New signalling and telecommunications devices were also installed
there is a parking lot with 21 parking spaces for cars
two for motorbikes and four for disabled people
There are also three pedestrian crossings in the parking lot
which have been raised to the level of the sidewalks with traffic calming devices to ensure greater traffic safety and unhindered access for disabled persons
there is a bus turning circle area with bus shelter that allows buses to stop and turn around
Road connections from entry roads to the garages have been rebuilt
Appropriate vertical and horizontal traffic signalling has been installed
which enables circular one-way traffic both through the turning circle area and through the parking lot and past the garages of the nearby residential complex
The total value of all signed contracts is EUR 18.11 million
of which EUR 11.67 million has been contributed by the European Union as part of the Recovery and Resilience Plan

DOMZALE 1
BALZAN 4
Balzan have put themselves in a strong position to progress to the second qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League when they stunned NK Domzale
It was without doubt a memorable night for Balzan FC who arguably produced their best performances in European football as they outplayed their more-quoted opponents throughout their match
once Aleksa Andreijic put the Maltese side ahead
there was no way back for the home side who conceded two more goals until the hour through a penalty conversion from Jake Grech and Peter Owomela
Domzale did pull a goal back with 30 minutes to go but Balzan managed to administer their lead to take a commanding advantage for next week’s second leg

Balzan coach Oliver Spiteri has urged his players to keep up their focus levels as they look to finish the job against Slovenian side NK Domzale and progress to the second qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League
Buoyed by last week’s impressive 4-1 win in Slovenia
the Maltese Premier League club are huge favourites to set up a second qualifying round tie against Liechtenstein’s FC Vaduz or Neman Grodno
Spiteri told the Times of Malta that it would be foolish of his players if they had to take the pitch against Domzale with the impression that the job is already done as he expects the Slovenian side to do everything in their power to overturn the tie
“It’s very important that we take the pitch fully concentrated and focused as the tie is far from over,” Spiteri said

In its first year it screened two films per month
so that in 2017 it had 655 screenings of 188 films that together with all the film related activities attracted more than 34,000 visitors
The cinema is located in one of the oldest buildings in Domžale that served as a cinema after World War II
but has since been renovated and is now home to a music school
FNE: What is the biggest challenge of running a cinema such as yours
Jure Matičič: I like to think that small cinemas always have big challenges ahead
We operate in the outskirts of the capital city with the largest art house cinema in the country just 14 kilometers away and the biggest multiplex even closer
One major issue is the fact that we are not only a cinema
where there is always a struggle to secure as many screenings as possible in a month
classical music and puppet plays can complement our cinema programme and make us very versatile
but we hope to expand next year by building a very cozy
intimate small screen that will give us more room in our programming
As with every other smaller cinema in Europe
we lack the staff and the financing to be able to exploit all of our potentials
but we can rely on very good support from the local community that backs us when there is time to invest in new technologies or new programming initiatives
FNE: What kinds of films do you prefer to screen and why
Jure Matičič: Our mission statement from day one is to screen good films and that enables us to explore a very broad selection of titles
We try to screen as many art house titles as possible and that includes European films
American independent productions and all the films from around the world we can lay our hands on
We also screen big studio titles if they fit our programming concept and so far we have had very good access to those kinds of films
not to mention a variety of European and world cinema titles
In the abundance of films provided by our distributors we try to curate the programme so that we can meet the needs of our audience and give them an opportunity to discover new directors
for this we sometimes rely on temporary imports
Special attention is given to national titles
where we try to bring as many independent national films as possible to our screen
We cater to film lovers and occasional filmgoers alike
so we always try to make sure our patrons will be able to find the right film at the right time
We go to great lengths to make Mestni kino Domžale a pleasant
where you can always experience a good film
Why are these important and what do they achieve
Jure Matičič: Small cinemas can greatly benefit from the membership in Europa Cinemas
that is becoming increasingly important for many small to mid-size cinemas that are struggling with insufficient national support schemes
What is even more important is the chance to meet people that run cinemas across Europe
to exchange ideas and opinions on matters that can be as simple as the ticketing software we use
FNE: How does a cinema like your cinema serve the local community
Jure Matičič: We connect as much as possible with the local community and in a way we are a very important part of the social life in Domžale and surrounding communities
What we try to offer is an event hub where you can have something interesting every day
so we engage with local audiences through different events and initiatives
In the summer we operate an open air cinema in a nearby park
In five years it has become one of the biggest and most anticipated summer events in town
But as much as we always keep the needs of our neighbours in mind
as we have been consistently attracting audiences from the broader region
FNE: Can you say something about your work with young audiences
Jure Matičič: Young audiences are a very important part of our work as we try to bring cinema-going closer to young people
some of them even enable them to see a film for free
special premieres of national films for children and teenagers
all this with the intention to make our cinema an inviting space for the younger audiences
But the main objective is still to get young people to fall in love with film
to be enchanted by it and to learn how to appreciate it as an art form
FNE: What about the digitalisation of cinemas
How it is affecting your work and your cinema
Jure Matičič: Going digital was very important for us
as we were a relatively “young” cinema at the time
The transition from 35mm to digital has provided us with the biggest jump in attendance so far and it has opened up so many programming options
In a small exhibition market where films were most commonly distributed on one 35mm copy
but with digital we are able to screen the film from day one and we can have a more diverse range of titles that we can keep in the programme for a longer period of time
There is a very different workflow with digital
ironically even more work intensive than before
more effective trailer and advertising placing

Balzan coach Jacques Scerri has warned his players that they need to show great tactical discipline if they are to upset Slovenian side NK Domzale in this evening’s Europa League first qualifying round first leg tie at the Centenary Stadium (kick-off: 6.30pm)
The 2019 FA Trophy winners are bracing themselves for a tough test against their Slovenian opponents who are bidding to make up for last season’s disappointment of failing to make the group stages of the Europa League after bowing out in the second qualifying round
“Playing in Europe is a great opportunity for our club and we must embrace it,” Scerri told Times of Malta
“Last season we could not have hope for a better ending to our campaign after lifting the FA Trophy but now it is important that we continue to step up
“We are aware that we are going to play against a very strong side but we must make the most of the home advantage and our goal is to try and get the best possible result ahead of next week’s second leg
“When you play against quality opposition tactical organization is crucial to get a positive result and although we will try to play our game we need to be wary of committing any silly mistakes which could prove costly.”
Balzan have made some changes to their squad from last season as they have parted ways with goalkeeper Steve Sultana
defender Elkin Serrano Valero and forward Kadu
Playing European football is a great opportunity for our club and we must embrace this challenge..
The club have brought in valid replacements in goalkeeper Kristjan Naumovski
lateral forward Stefan Dimic and Brazilian playmaker Arthur Faria
who two seasons ago was on the books of Ħamrun Spartans
Balzan spent ten days in Slovenia for a short training camp during which Scerri had the opportunity to watch today’s opponents
During their camp they played three friendlies
two against Serbian opposition FK Vozdovac (1-0) and FK Proleter (0-0) and another against Slovenians NK Bravo (1-1)
“I am very pleased with our preparations,” Scerri said
“The training camp in Slovenia was very beneficial as we worked a lot on the tactical set-up of the team as well as giving a good opportunity to all the players to gel together as a group
“During our stay there I had the opportunity to watch NK Domzale in action and I was really impressed with their quality
They are a very technical team who like to come out with the ball from the back and have some quality players
“Their stand-out performer is midfielder Senijad Ibricic who is a Bosnian international
Added to that they have some very good young players so no doubt it will be a formidable test for us
“But I’m quite optimistic as I was pleased with the team’s performances during the three friendlies we played there so hopefully we can get the right result.”
Hibernians are the other team in action today in the Europa League qualifiers when they face Shaktyor Soligorsk in Belarus (kick-off: 7pm)
The Paolites are again under the stewardship of Italian coach Stefano Sanderra and are approaching the season with several new faces in their squad
they have parted ways with their striking duo of Tiago Fonseca and Taylon and have replaced them with Italian forward Leonardo Nanni and Dutch striker Terence Groothusen and wingback Jens Wemmer
They have also brought in Malta defender Ferdinando Apap and former Malta U-21 goalkeeper Matthew Calleja Cremona who will be battling for the no
The Belarus side have struggled to leave their mark in Europe with their best run in the competition coming four years ago when they reached the play off round only to be ousted by PSV Eindhoven
Soligorsk have qualified to this year’s Europa Leaugue after winning their ninth Belarusian Cup at the end of last season
Hibernians will be hopeful of securing a positive result in Belarus this evening to keep the tie open ahead of next week’s second leg at the Centenary Stadium

21 year old Jamaican international Shamar Nicholson scored his sixth goal of the season for Slovenian club NK Domzale in a 6-2 win over Rudar on Sunday
Nicholson scored the go-ahead goal for Domzale to make it 3-2
Domzale moves up to third which puts them in a UEFA Europa League spot
Nicholson is in the last season of his two year spell of the club
the former Boys’ Town man scored 5 goals in 15 games while this season he has 6 goals in 16 matches
Buoyed by last week’s impressive 4-1 win in Slovenia
the Maltese Premier League club are huge favourites to set up a second qualifying round tie against Liechtenstein’s FC Vaduz or Neman Grodno
“It’s very important that we take the pitch fully concentrated and focused as the tie is far from over,” Spiteri said
“It would be very dangerous if we approach the match with the thought that we are already through as it is clearly not the case
I am sure that Domzale will take the pitch determined to turn the tie around and we need to make sure we give them the respect they deserve as they are a very strong side.”
Spiteri said that he was pleased by how the club’s new signings have integrated quickly in the squad and emphasised that it’s all down to the excellent team spirit that exists in the dressing room
“Here at Balzan we are blessed to have a very united dressing room,” Spiteri said
“When the new signings arrived at the club
all the players made sure that they felt welcome and that made it easier for them to adapt to their new surroundings very quickly
“Their performance in the first leg mirrored that as all the players did very well
“Still I believe that we can play better than we did last week and we will continue to work hard to achieve this aim and ensure we maximise our potential.” The Balzan coach said that he wants his players to believe in themselves when they take the pitch for today’s match
“I want my players to be determined and concentrated to try and finish the job,” he said
“I believe that the most important factor that can help us seal qualification is that we believe in ourselves
Domzale will be keen on turning the result around and it’s up to us to ensure that we keep them at bay and go on and kill off the tie.”

Jamaican international Shamar Nicholson (Gleaner file photo)
21 year old Jamaican international Shamar Nicholson scored his first goal of the season for NK Domzale in the Slovenian Premier League in a 3-1 victory over Alumini. With the win
Domzale has pushed to second in the league on 9 points
They are a point behind the leaders Maribor
Last season the former Boys’ Town striker scored 5 goals in 15 games for the club
Nicholson's deal in Slovenia is set to run until the summer of 2019.
The match between Bravo and Domžale offered little of interest for a long time
but then quickly saw the fall of three Euro goals scored by the visiting team's players
The most stunning among these was signed by Filip Stuparević
who distinguished himself with an excellent shot from his own half
catching Bravo's goalkeeper Orbanić far off his line
this was his fourth goal of the season in all competitions
Balzan coach Oliver Spiteri has no doubt that his players will give their utmost to try and secure a positive result against NK Domzale
first leg tie in Slovenia on Thursday (kick-off: 19.00)

this is the second time the two teams are facing each other in Europe

which included two friendly matches against two Serbian top-flight sides in preparation for this match
and coach Oliver Spiteri was pleased with his team’s condition for the match

'A contributing factor was the fact that Slaven wasn't allowed to contribute as a manager
or as a coach at any point because of his ban
with him being in the stand because Antonio - a player that I love
especially from last season - today he could have been brought off after 20 minutes.'
I don't think it was a penalty in the first half but we've got to get on with it and we ended up losing the game.'
obviously not the result but we've got to go there positive - first game
On Dimitri Payet: 'You're going to miss a player like Dimi
we've got a good enough team to come here and win but we never done that
'Obviously these games are tough but we didn't play well tonight - we better play well on Thursday.'
SAM CUNNINGHAM: West Ham United were rust ravaged against Slovenian minnows NK Domzale and will certainly need a shot in the arm to progress to the next qualifying round of the Europa League after a humiliating defeat
All is to play for when the two officially open the Olympic Stadium next Thursday and West Ham will be desperate not to make a grand entrance to their much anticipated new home with an embarrassing slip-up
the second time after Mark Noble had equalised
as West Ham’s disorganised defence was easily exposed by a side who have not even finished in the top two in Slovenia’s top flight for five years

Man-of-the-match Matic Crnic - who played magnificently and grabbed a brace - is getting a standing ovation as he makes his way off the pitch
I've just let out a noise I've never heard come out of my mouth and it's due to a fine shot from Crnic
who have already started this season look much stronger at the end
in a central position; he unleashes a brilliant shot
Adrian gets to it at full stretch - amazing save - then a Domzale man just has to tap in
But Adrian gets up and pulls off an extraordinary save for a corner
He could well have kept his side in this tie with those two worldies
The ball falls to Carroll on the edge of the box
but a Domzale defender comes out quickly to block
The home side lump it up field and Adrian rushes out of his box to clear out of play
bent ball 'round the corner from Alvir finds Crnic
and he's one-on-one down the left with Noble
The Irons skipper does just enough to deflect the shot over the bar
Ten minutes to go and West Ham make their first change
comes off while 16-year-old former Benfica whizzkid Domingos Quina comes on
Domzale just don't have the quality to engineer a clear-cut chance with many men forward
and Obiang dispossesses Crnic on the edge of the box..
Majer - not closed down quickly enough - hits a stinging effort at goal from 25 yards
that's Domzale's nickname - are very much ambushing West Ham as a gang
A corner comes in and a Domzale man takes a swipe but Byram does well to block
And it's a change of system for the Hammers
with Nordtveit moving to right back and Kouyate at centre half
All the play in the last 10 minutes has been in West Ham's half
They don't look like getting back into this game any time soon
goes down in the box but the referee doesn't give a third penalty. He judges Obiang to have made a legal tackle
Obiang had a hold of his arm outside the box
and I would have given a free-kick just outside
Antonio - once again - is nowhere to be seen at right back
and it's a great save from Adrian to flick the ball around the post
I’m not sure what right back Michail Antonio has been doing all match
but it hasn’t been playing right back
Horvat gets a yellow for a pull back on Obiang
with the Hammer driving forward with the ball
That caution was probably for a combination of fouls from the centre midfielder
West Ham then put a ball into the box but Maraval flies out to collect
He's certainly putting himself in the shop window today
and he looks to be oozing confidence as he tries a neat trick-flick to a team-mate
blocked by a defender and out for a corner
The ball drops to Noble 20 yards out and he catches the shot cleanly
and Antonio is so far out of position at right back! Crnic drifts forward easily from the wing
with Nordtveit stepping over the ball/through his legs
Antonio and Nordtveit have not covered themselves in glory throughout this match
and that goal highlights that point completely
Antonio hurls in another big throw but Carroll - who is feeding off scraps - can't get to the ball cleanly
Crnic goes down under a challenge and he looks in a bit of pain as he holds his hip. The 24-year-old should be alright to run it off though
Bilic said yesterday that his players were mostly still only around 80 per cent to full match fitness and it is showing out there on a cut-up pitch
Feghouli whips over a corner and fellow new signing Nordtveit rises highest but heads over
Domzale right back Brachi had yet another chance to get a good ball into the box
but yet again failed to deliver appropriately
Free-kick to the home side 22 yards out as Antonio bundles Crnic clumsily over as he makes his way towards the Hammers goal. A decent effort from Morel
but it was always going over and Adrian watches it sail behind
The Hammers have been working the ball into the final third better in the last few minutes and Obiang looks for Byram but is just off
Maraval hasn't really had much work to do
apart from conceding a penalty and Domzale then come forward! Left back Balkovec curls in a stunning cross from the left which finds Alvir unmarked in the box
but his free header from around eight yards out is off target
West Ham were all over the place at the back and he should have punished them
An interesting West Ham corner comes in deep
Domzale haven't been too disheartened by the equaliser and they keep coming forward with verve
An intricate few passes outside the area nearly finds centre forward Mance but it's just cut out by Nordtveit
with goalscorer Crnic cutting inside from the flank and fizzing a low shot just past the far post
but Feghouli keeps his feet to win a free kick and his delivery only just misses the Hammers heads in the penalty area
Slaven Bilic is sat up in the stands serving a touchline ban from the Astra Giurgiu when West Ham exited the Europa League at the start of last season
He’s had plenty to ponder over so far
Maraval came charging off his line and cleaned out West Ham defender Reid
You would expect West Ham to get back into this match with the squad they have and they go direct this time
as Antonio launches a long throw into the box but goalkeeper Maraval can gather
West Ham's midfield aren't close enough to their defenders and the home side have a lot of space going forward
A shot is hit at goal and Nordtveit is adjudged to have handled the ball on his debut
Crnic steps up and emphatically strikes it past Adrian
and then nearly turned a defender to get a shot away in the box
Carroll collects a lofted ball down the right flank superbly
plucking it out of the sky with his right foot
and is tugged down by Horic just outside the right-hand side of the penalty box
It's a free-kick and the centre half is lucky to escape a booking
which Carroll wins at the back post - on the stretch
in the air - but a team-mate cannot convert the ball home
but a naturalised Slovenian citizen - has pulling the strings in central midfield for Domzale
New West Ham signing Nordtveit - who usually plays in central midfield - looks comfortable at centre half
have had most of the possession in the opening exchanges but Antonio has made a promising burst forward from right back for the Eastenders
It's a big night at left back for Sam Byram
The ex-Leeds United man - who usually plays on the right-hand side - is deputising for the injured Aaron Cresswell

marks Ibričić's first major transfer since joining Sarajevo from Domžale
under the guidance of sports director Senijad Ibričić
has confirmed the transfer of promising goalkeeper Muhamed Šahinović to Polish team Rakow
This move represents Ibričić's first major transfer since his arrival in Bosnia’s capital from Domžale
has signed a contract with Rakow until 2028
The deal mirrors the path of former Sarajevo goalkeeper Vladan Kovačević
who previously moved to Rakow and quickly established himself as one of the top goalkeepers in the Polish league
While the exact transfer fee remains undisclosed
several Bosnian media outlets report it as a 'million-euro transfer'
potentially increasing with various bonuses in the future
"This transfer is a win-win for both clubs and for Šahinović
and a broad network of global club connections
aiming to raise our standards and success," Ibričić commented on the club's website
Sarajevo’s most lucrative transfer to date was the sale of Gojko Cimirot in 2015
who moved to Greek club PAOK for €1.7 million
The club aims to continue this trend of developing and transferring talent under Ibričić's leadership
has high expectations of forward Kaheem Parris
former club of national striker Shamar Nicholson
But he believes how the young player adopts to his new environment
and his commitment to improving himself as a player will be key to his success
Parris will sign a year-long loan with the Slovenian club and Speid said that Domzale is a great club for him to continue his development
whom he believes is one of the country's most talented players
they will assess if he has value and if they want to further the arrangement
So it's a pretty important time in Parris' life
his agent is really good and he will decide what will happen to him after the year stint - whether he will stay at that club or seek other opportunities
he says with commitment and a strong work ethic
the player can follow in the footsteps of Nicholson and take his career to the next level
"The only thing with us Jamaicans is our work rate," Speid said
"He is easily one of the most talented players we have for the longest while
just like how we miss Nicque (Daley) and (Jamoi) Topey
but this is what we want for these players."
Speid noted that this is the third teenager the club has transferred overseas between last season and this
and for that reason he believes Cavalier is on the right track
"Those three players went to the Gothia Cup (in Sweden) and played in the final in the Under-17 Elite B final
so we are pleased at the club to extend that capital for the players to get that type of exposure
and you can see that it has helped them in their development,' he said
Parris received his international clearance from the Jamaica Football Federation on Monday
travel documents are still to be processed
"The agent he has signed to is the same agent that Nicholson is signed to
So he is in very good hands and around people who can make things happen," Speid said
