designed to search for signs of subsurface water ice landed near the Moon’s south pole aboard the Athena lander a Nova-C type spacecraft developed by the American company Intuitive Machines The landing occurred at approximately 18:32 CET though the precise condition and orientation of the lander remain unclear Just days prior another American lunar probe highlighting a new era of intensified lunar activity Hungary’s contribution to this historic venture comes from Puli Space Technologies, whose innovative Puli Lunar Water Snooper is aboard the mission mobile probe called Grace (also known as the Micro Nova Hopper) this lightweight device—measuring roughly 400 grams—was engineered to detect traces of water ice beneath the lunar surface Grace is capable of travelling several kilometres away from the initial landing site vastly increasing the range of exploration The Athena lander represents Intuitive Machines’ second successful lunar mission within NASA’s Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) programme made history last year by marking the United States’ return to the lunar surface after 51 years Odysseus managed to transmit valuable images and data before the onset of the lunar night the IM-2 mission appears to have proceeded smoothly with Athena’s navigational systems performing as expected engineers carried out extensive system checks and calibrations Video footage captured during the mission provides fresh insights into the lunar south pole region the spacecraft initiated its descent using its camera-based navigation system to identify a safe touchdown site Athena and its payloads are expected to operate for around ten days until the arrival of the prolonged lunar night The Puli Space water detection device was developed under a contract with NASA which provided 225,000 dollars in funding to support its creation This detector employs a groundbreaking technology never before used to search for water ice on the Moon While similar instruments typically cost 1.2 million to transport to the Moon the Water Snooper secured its place aboard the mission free of charge ‘The device will help determine the amount of water ice present within the lunar regolith and assist in mapping permanently shadowed regions’ the device will help determine the amount of water ice present within the lunar regolith and assist in mapping permanently shadowed regions which will then be shared with the European Space Agency (ESA) under a pioneering agreement Puli Space aspires to specialize in lunar data services and still holds ambitions to land a rover on the Moon designed to bore one metre into the lunar surface to search for water ice and other volatile compounds such as carbon dioxide and ammonia the MSolo mass spectrometer will analyze the released gases to gain insights into the Moon’s composition Athena is equipped with a laser reflector to aid in pinpointing the lander’s precise location which could play a crucial role in supporting future lunar landings the Athena lander is also transporting a rover named MAPP (Mobility for Space Exploration) developed by the American company Lunar Outpost This groundbreaking vehicle is the first rover to approach the Moon’s south pole and the first wheeled probe designed by a private enterprise to operate on another celestial body Hungary has made a remarkable entry into lunar exploration contributing cutting-edge technology to the quest for knowledge and the potential utilization of extraterrestrial resources Hungarian Conservative is a quarterly magazine on contemporary political philosophical and cultural issues from a conservative perspective The Intuitive Machines Micro Nova Hopper is integrated with their Athena lunar lander ahead of their second commercial mission to the lunar surface scheduled for no earlier than late February of this year Mounted on the Micro Nova Hopper is the Puli Lunar Water Snooper (PLWS) built by Hungarian space technology company Puli Space Technologies PLWS is a neutron spectrometer that will study water ice in the Moon's south pole region and provide the first direct surface measurements from a permanently shadowed crater ESA’s Lunar Science Office recognises the importance of the expected data and has made history by signing its first exploration data buy agreement with Puli Space Technologies This collaboration highlights the expertise in the European space industry and sets a precedent for future public-private partnerships in deep space exploration ESA will select a dedicated scientific team to work closely with Puli Space to analyse and standardise the data which will be made publicly available later Softball Asia has announced the six participating teams and the official schedule for the II U-15 Women’s Softball She rummaged in her pocket and found a rat toy she used with her Norwich Terriers which she describes as “this shocking blue fuzzy thing.” The Puli snatched it “I couldn’t get it away from him,” she says “He was walking through the group ring going ‘squeak Most books on the breed trace the Puli to ancient communities in India, western China, and Tibet. The Cuman people were said to have brought the dogs — whose corded coat developed to protect them from both bitter frost and summer heat— to Hungary in the mid-13th century records show Pulis worked the plains of Puszta as early as the 9th century and some believe the Puli worked as a sheepdog as early as 4500 B.C the Puli endured the tumult of the Turkish invasion and Austrian occupation Shepherds in Hungary valued Pulik so much that they would pay a year’s salary for the special herding dogs “They were ruthless in maintaining working qualities and would eliminate any dogs that didn’t show these qualities immediately,” says the Puli Club of America the Puli had to be physically sound and mentally capable a calmer period for the breed and their people This oft-quoted phrase was found in a book from 1924: “The Puli used around sheep is always lower than the highest point of the shepherd’s boots.” Shepherds prized their Pulik for their “quick intelligence and turn-on-a-dime agility,” writes Susi Szeremy in her history of the breed which is distributed by the PCA at judge’s education seminars That pride finally made its way stateside in 1935 Department of Agriculture imported four purebred Pulik to help them with a conundrum: herding dogs who sometimes killed the animals they were meant to guard the Puli scored incredibly well compared to other dogs they sold the four Pulik to professional breeders Those four dogs are thought to be the beginnings of the American Puli population today Many of them were killed by bombs and bullets It took years to bring them back,” says Anna Quiqley past president of the Puli Club of America did not mean all was perfect for the O Puli yet “Back in the ’70s, they were very different temperament-wise than they are today,” says Pessina, who first spotted a corded Puli at Westminster early in that decade She shared a Hungarian background with the breed and was smitten Sylvia Owens was the woman who pioneered the Puli breed in America Her dog was the first of the breed to take Best in Show There’s nothing in the standard about how a Puli may or may not be groomed. “If you want to compete at the group level, you need that corded coat to the ground,” Pussina says. “When you show in conformation you pretty much pray over each cord,” Anspach adds is one of the only countries to allow Pulik to be shown in a brushed (non-corded coat) This is why many Pulik in older photos are brushed out and not corded a corded coat will always give a Puli the most protection It also allows them to do the job they were bred to do While their undercoat starts to come in at around 9 – 10 months it can take up to five years to grow a full corded coat Pessina describes the texture of the cords as being “mop-like.” “If they get wet “My first Puli was this little five-pound puppy who came into my house and was more protective than my 90-pound German Shepherd Dog,” she says “She saw her reflection in a mirror and would stand there and bark at it Even though Pessina says the Puli is now much more social Pessina once told the audience that this isn’t a dog who likes baby talk on the table “They’re fine if you just approach and pet them but if you talk to them in a goo-goo voice they might tense up and look at you as if you had three heads,” she explains and owner of the first AKC-titled herding dog in the breed my Jack would sleep between me and the door,” she says They’re so smart and so funny—it’s fascinating.” Don Gold was more interested in agility training with his dog Barney until he met herding judge Nancy Obermark, who encouraged him to take the herding instinct test Gold was thrilled to learn that Barney didn’t need much training at all once they knew he had the instinct Gold recalls one herding trial in particular when the judge told him “That was a beautiful outside flank back!” as he closed the gate “I thanked her but realized it was all Barney’s decision Pessina rented a car and stopped on the road by a farm when she spotted Pulik lying down in the field “There were no fences and no humans around,” she recalls “The minute I got out of my car with my camera the dogs jumped up and immediately started to move the sheep away from the road The farmer was obviously having his lunch — he came out with his napkin tucked into his shirt but went back inside when he saw me But it was so interesting that the dogs immediately saw me as someone who wasn’t meant to be there and went to work to protect the sheep.” where their temperaments have evolved to make them better-mannered the dog’s owner said Wednesday that she is proud of her pooch just the same “Our goal was just to come home with a ribbon,” said Valarie Cheimis features more than 2,500 canines from all over the country a three-year-old miniature poodle named Sage Csoki presented himself to the judges on Monday Cheimis called Csoki’s winning the award “fabulous.” They have been breeding Hungarian Pulis since 2017 Pulis are known for their distinctive hair particularly afterward when they need to dry and that’s with the help of fans and a dehumidifier “People will not understand the maintenance that’s required,” she said Cheimis said she has been to Westminster twice before aside from appearing in enough shows to be labeled a champion at about a year old had been content to stay at home and play on the family farm for the past few years During the qualifying judging in 2023 for this year’s Westminster show Csoki made it into the top five for his breed and drove for seven hours to get back home on Monday night “It was kind of a whirlwind trip,” she said.  the winning poodle’s owner has been appearing at the show for the past 45 years Cheimis said most Best in Show winners appear frequently at other shows leading up to Westminster – campaigning Since Cheimis wasn’t doing that with Csoki she said she was thrilled just to see her pup make it to the show and taking home a ribbon was plenty rewarding Cheimis said she expected she and Csoki would be back at the show in future years The European Space Agency (ESA) has partnered with Hungary’s Puli Space Technologies in a groundbreaking collaboration to explore the Moon’s water resources This marks ESA’s first-ever deep-space data acquisition agreement with a Hungarian company highlighting the nation’s growing role in space innovation will embark on the Intuitive Machines IM-2 mission a commercial lunar expedition led by the Houston-based private aerospace firm scheduled to launch as early as late February will deploy the PLWS to gather critical data on water ice in the Moon’s South Pole region will be installed on the Micro Nova Hopper an autonomous rocket-powered drone designed by Intuitive Machines This innovative vehicle will explore the permanently shadowed craters of the Moon’s South Pole where temperatures can drop to minus 200 degrees Celsius Founder of Puli Space Technologies Tibor Pacher expressed excitement about the international recognition and collaboration: ‘We are thrilled to have ESA join this mission Exploring the shadowed craters is a significant step as these areas hold potential reservoirs of water ice that could transform lunar exploration.’ The search for water ice on the Moon is critical to enabling sustainable human presence and economic activity in cislunar space making it a cornerstone resource for future lunar bases and deep-space travel ‘The data from this mission could catalyze the development of sustainable lunar bases and a cost-effective transportation system between Earth and the Moon,’ Head of ESA’s Lunar Exploration Office James Carpenter stated 2025 – A Puli a Holdra megy / Puli goes to the Moon hogy két Puli Vízszimatolónk elinduljon a Hold déli sarkvidékére az Intuitive Machines’ IM-2… The mission represents a first-of-its-kind attempt to map localized water ice concentrations on the Moon’s surface While previous orbital measurements have provided evidence of hydrogen presence their spatial resolution was insufficient for pinpointing potential mining sites Puli Space’s spectrometer will directly address this gap offering critical insights into the distribution and density of water ice The collaboration also underscores the growing role of private enterprises in space exploration ESA’s agreement with Puli Space signals a broader shift toward integrating private-sector innovations into public research initiatives As space agencies and private companies alike set their sights on establishing a permanent lunar presence the Moon has become a focal point of geopolitical and economic interest Both the United States and China are investing heavily in lunar exploration supported by significant private sector involvement The data gathered by Puli Space and Intuitive Machines will be publicly accessible after standardization advancing scientific understanding and aiding future missions ‘This milestone sets the stage for deeper cooperation between government agencies and private firms paving the way for further breakthroughs in space exploration,’ ESA stated This mission is a key step toward verifying the feasibility of in-situ resource utilization (ISRU) a cornerstone of the emerging cislunar economy the project lays the groundwork for future lunar mining operations enabling sustainable human activity beyond Earth’s orbit national championship in the 80 years since the Puli was recognized The Puli was first brought into the United States in 1935 as part of an experiment with the U.S Researchers at facility in Maryland were looking for a dog that wouldn’t kill the stock it was entrusted to protect and they just might have found it had World War II not broken out The four Pulik involved in the research were auctioned off and became the foundation dogs for several American Puli kennels While the breed wasn’t unheard of, knowledge of it was limited, even among other fanciers. The Puli was regarded as a rare breed and would remain so for decades Owners and breeders made up a small community that followed the gains made in their breed with pride and a sense of accomplishment but achievements came in spurts often separated by many years The first Puli to be shown at an AKC show was Louis Kiss’ bitch, Torokvesz Sarika, the only Puli entry at Newark Kennel Club’s dog show on Dec. 6, 1936. It would be another 12 years before a Puli would become the breed’s first champion, a dog named Ch. Magyar’s Bundasz. In 1949, the incomparable Alva Rosenberg became the first judge to place a Puli in the Working Group and Puli owners delighted at the breakthrough because over one-quarter of a century passed before the breed was awarded a similar group placement at the 1975 Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show More Pulik were being entered at dog shows but many breed winners didn’t stay for group judging because placements were rare and winning the group seemed all but impossible or “Coco,” became the first Puli to win the Working Group Skysyl Question Being Is It (“Monday”) won the breed’s first Best in Show in 1968 In as much as the breed made strides within the fancy it puts things into perspective to note that the first corded Puli to win a Best in Show came 35 years after AKC acceptance Given that a corded coat is the breed’s calling card it wasn’t entirely due to judging preferences American Puli owners in the early days had very little access to information and historical documents let alone other breed owners from the country of origin and contact with Hungarians was restricted by the Soviet regime A corded coat was unfamiliar to those early owners Pulik were brushed and combed out because that’s what was done with heavily coated dogs at the time Hungarians who made their way to the United States brought with them insights — and sometimes their dogs — which helped change how the breed was presented corded Pulik fared well in subsequent years When over 8,000 dogs competed at the AKC’s historic Centennial Show in 1984 Jatekos Bika of Pebbletree placed in group; in 1989 became the first Puli to win a Group I at Westminster something early Puli fanciers never thought they’d ever see happen the feat would be repeated at Westminster in 2009 and 2010 by Ch Cordmaker Field Of Dreams owned by Sue Huebner & Jackie Beaudoin While strides were being made inside the dog show world and glimpses of the breed were few and far between Life Magazine ran a photo of a Puli belonging to a Metropolitan Opera singer dubbed wrote about his Puli in his 1975 Hugo-winning novelette “Bush” put his Puli on an album cover insert an episode of the Drew Carey show included a Puli Anheuser-Busch made a Puli the star attraction in a popular Budweiser beer commercial “No Dogs Allowed.” The breed got a lot of attention in 2011 when Facebook CEO a pair of Pulik starred in a heart-tugging Dr A photo posted by Mark Zuckerberg (@zuck) on Jul 4 The breed has come a long way since the days when Puli enthusiasts couldn’t buy a T-shirt or bumper sticker featuring a Puli because those things didn’t exit and that was if the vendor even knew what a Puli was and with an average of 109.6 Pulik registered per year since 2011 people have become a bit more sophisticated about dog breeds than they once were though Puli owners still wince inwardly when asked Preston’s historic win will help educate the public about a breed of dog that owners have known to be a highly intelligent Those of us who live with the breed nod knowingly at the tongue-in-cheek suggestion that a Puli is a dog that can follow you into a revolving door and come out ahead of you It took 80 years after AKC recognition for a Puli to win Best in Show at a U.S Preston did it by beating 5,000 dogs at the largest dog show in North America He stood on the proverbial shoulders of great Pulik and dedicated people who broke barriers before him but it was Preston who toppled a remaining milestone GCHB CH Cordmaker Mister Blue Sky — Preston — was bred by one person Preston belongs to all of us — Puli Nation — as he wears the crown of the ultimate winner This website is using a security service to protect itself from online attacks The action you just performed triggered the security solution There are several actions that could trigger this block including submitting a certain word or phrase You can email the site owner to let them know you were blocked Please include what you were doing when this page came up and the Cloudflare Ray ID found at the bottom of this page What’s your word recognition when it comes to Guinness – a world’s authority on record-breaking achievements or an iconic Irish beer there’s a four-legged option begging for your attention Meet CH There’s Nothing Like a Guinness, a 7-year-old, 40-pound Puli, owned and bred by Fran Levinson, of Landenberg, Pennsylvania, that will be in action at The National Dog Show Presented by Purina at noon Thanksgiving Day in all time zones Chances are many of you have never heard of this Guinness, or even the corded Hungarian breed, which was No. 143 out of 195 in the American Kennel Club’s most popular breeds of 2020 dense and waterproof dreadlocks draws plenty of attention and “what’s that?” questions from bystanders in the United States When asked at what point did she notice he was “special,” owner-breeder-handler Fran Levinson, of tiny Landenberg, Pennsylvania, replies, “At ages 3 and 4 when he wasn’t thrilled with Agility. Blue Sky, a Puli known as “Preston,” owned by E Congratulations to all of these incredible canines It is a neat piece of equipment that many people might find useful It does make some assumptions about failover scenarios but having alternative 5G connections alongside conventional cable broadband should keep the data flowing Routers with a 5G (4G) capability aren’t unusual as some locations can’t get wired broadband services But in the GL-iNet Puli AX router (aka GL-XE3000) being able to distribute a cellular data connection is only a small part of the story This router will wirelessly distribute a conventional wired broadband connection from a modem with up to a 2.5GbE connection and support many users with 574Mbps (2.4GHz) and 2402Mbps (5GHz) of dual-band throughput There is also a single gigabit ethernet downlink for connecting a wired network and the service is protected with an integrated 6400mAh/47.4Wh battery that kicks in should the power be cut Cellular data can also be blended with wired broadband with slots for two SIMs enabling a service failover in the event of the wired service or one of the 5G connections going down Using SIMs from two different service suppliers the GL-XE3000 can provide a practical means to avoid the loss of the internet for home or business customers Built around a MediaTek dual-core ARM SoC this router is power efficient and uses firmware based on the highly respected OpenWRT platform The OS comes pre-installed with a dedicated VPN Client-Server model enabling secure surfing for all those connected through it the GL-XE3000 might seem on the pricey side but given the special features that GL-iNet put inside and what that might save you in the event of a lost service The box containing the GL-XE3000 is packed with useful items that demonstrate the makers want the best possible user experience for its router This includes the two-tone router with a detachable mounting plate an Ethernet cable and some paper documentation The inclusion of the sticker for attaching the mounting plate was a nice touch even if only to hold the plate in position while screws are placed (also included) to make it completely secure We’ve seen some outlandish router designs in the past few years but the GL-XE3000 avoids making an artistic statement and instead goes for a business-oriented look It’s a simple box with curved corners and a bevelled top with ventilation on four sides and a basic lit icon status strip across the top Nothing here is likely to confuse anyone who has previously deployed a router and a simple two-page pamphlet called ‘Let’s get started’ is there to support those who lack confidence since it reveals that while four of the antennae are marked for 5G and two for WiFi the 5G ones don’t all attach to the four threaded SMB (SubMiniature version B) connectors on the back That USB port provides a fourth comms option as the port can connect a phone to share its cellular connection through the router What seems mildly odd is that the second LAN port the one that will connect a wired network to the router is only 1GbE and not the 2.5GbE that the WAN port is blessed Access to the Nano SIM card slots is on the left-hand side The logic inherent here is that if one internet connection service fails and the router supports aggregated connections for enhanced performance The operating system of this router is based on OpenWRT along with connectors to a Cloud-managed solution and is even accessible through SSH This approach delivers granular management that can work as well for a single install as for multiple devices and the potential for installable applications the sophistication of this solution is mainly kept from standard users access it through a web browser and get it operational very quickly More knowledge is required to bring the VPN functionality into service but this isn’t the sort of router that would confuse seasoned IT professionals It is at its most imaginative when considering and controlling a multi-WAN scenario Since it can mix and load balance a cable modem connected by Ethernet or a shared mobile network connected by USB or WiFi These can either be unified or set to failover The system is either set to failover or load balanced and you can’t select one of the Cellular channels to be load balanced and the other to be a failover option Maybe that’s something they could consider in the future It can also operate as a WiFi repeater for an existing network although this is an expensive device for that task The strengths of this design are that it doesn’t require high levels of expertise to get operational and it comes with a boatload of user-friendly features the GoodCloud cloud management service is especially useful and doesn’t require a subscription AdGuard Home is a network-wide software for blocking ads and ZeroTier is a software-based virtual private network (VPN) but ZeroTier shouldn’t be used if the OpenVPN Client or WireGuard Client is currently active on the router we need to talk about cost implications because depending on where in the world you are a 5G SIM and unlimited data service can cost a wildly different amount an unlimited 5G plan in Europe typically costs less than $20 and can even be found for as little as $15 per month If you have two of these on two different services a total monthly outlay of $35 should net you a high-performance service with the ability for one of those service providers to have an issue and the connection to be maintained For those who want the 5G modem to be a failover for an existing broadband connection a monthly paid SIM is well under $10 with 50GB of capacity There is no guarantee of 5G or even of two service providers A price of $65 is the norm for ‘unlimited’ service but limits are often put on how much data can be used for a hotspot and speed limits are put on all-you-can-eat connections Those paying $130 for two SIMs and potentially another $100 for broadband might find this an expensive way to guarantee 24/7 internet access but those are the current economic realities of some regions having this hardware configured with dual SIMs and connected to an existing broadband service is something that home workers might consider a reasonable expense only business locations with multiple users might be comfortable with the ongoing costs of using the GL-EX3000 to its full capabilities The disparity is so significant that it entirely alters the argument about whether this hardware is a good investment The performance of this router as a WiFi access point is reasonable The commonality of chips on routers has started to boil performance down to a level where it is hard to divide them but unless you’ve some client hardware that can access quad-band arrangements the performance over 5GHz should be sufficient for most mobile devices Where things get less obvious or quantifiable is with cellular data services and exactly what speeds you can expect from them not that the especially dark corner of Cambridgeshire your reviewer lives presented anything that impressive The best I achieved over 5G on a single SIM was just 16Mb/s download and 4Mb/s upload but that was better than a 4G connection from the same service provider These numbers are not a reflection of the GL-EX3000 but of the abysmal speeds that O2 can offer in some suburban areas of the UK Other providers might deliver much better speeds but it's worth researching what you can expect (by using a 5G mobile phone) before jumping in with both feet and cancelling the wired broadband Having more than one service running in load-balanced mode would obviously improve speeds and resilience but doubling the cost of monthly overheads but that’s not a failing of GL-iNet and its hardware An unusual feature of this design is the battery The average power consumption of the router is less than 14W which should equate to at least three hours of operation on battery in the event of a mains power failure but probably much longer than that How useful that is will depend on having battery-powered clients that the mains outage doesn’t impact the mobile network or the services you are trying to access It’s more than enough to handle short blips in power and the battery recharges once power is restored Enhanced resilience of this type isn’t a feature we see often but the GL-EX3000 makes a strong case for it especially for those living in rural areas where power and internet connections can be less reliable finding a 5G service might prove more challenging than for city dwellers Power outages are much less common for Europeans than in the USA Americans are the ones who really need the GL-EX3000 but only if they have local cellular services that they can rely upon The problem with this plan comes when power loss also impacts the cell towers which could happen in extreme weather conditions leaving the router with no working failover It’s likely to find the most favour in those regions where the services normally work but the loss of power or broadband connection would devastate a running business The GL-EX3000 might then stop the digital sky from falling but only if the devices using that service can function without power without power would be considered an unacceptable safety issue in most regions even if it was for a relatively short period but it assumes many other systems have been hardened against the loss of power to use the continuation it can achieve the cost of buying this hardware might ultimately be the cheap part of a project that can maintain business services in the event of power or Cellular service interruptions the more I liked its thinking and attention to detail My only concern is that this is plenty to spend on a router and then not fully exploit what it has to offer This equipment is designed to merge wired and cellular data services to deliver either extra performance or high degrees of reliability If you don’t have either of these priorities then the GL-EX3000 probably isn’t the router for you This router is ready for that event and equally prepared for the loss of a cellular service including OpenVPN (client and server) and WireGuard functionality provides an excellent option for secure data communications inside and outside the network but the encryption model is highly effective There are cheaper options for those with only a 4G cellular service even if this hardware will work with 4G LTE services GL-iNet makes one that is a third of the price This won't be a worthwhile investment unless you know that 5G is coming to your town This would be illegal within Europe and many other regions but in the USA some cities have agreed exclusive deals with cellular service providers the failover option of this hardware doesn’t have the luxury of another potential service should the local monopoly let its customers down GL-iNet makes the GL-E3000 model with a single SIM card slot that costs a little less for that scenario but it doesn’t offer the same capabilities as the GL-EX3000 Didn't find what you wanted? summer, Dr Zijian Győző Yang, a researcher at the Hungarian Research Centre for Linguistics, clarified the technological concept of the Hungarian-developed chatbot named ‘PULI’, Makronóm reported Since the emergence of the ChatGPT chatbot the media has been devoting ample space to discussions about its future impact: whether it will take our jobs and whether chatbots in general have negative or positive intentions and ultimate consequences many refer to anything that uses a smarter algorithm as artificial intelligence but not everything that looks like it actually qualifies as AI The expert clarified that ChatGPT is not truly artificial intelligence It primarily learns through processing vast amounts of data ChatGPT has seen a lot of texts and tries to piece together words to make sense based on that it doesn’t want to destroy the world,’ he said as that is what can be called intelligence It strives to answer everything based on the texts it has learnt and this can sometimes lead to misinformation there is no need to fear that it will subjugate humanity as it lacks intentions—though its users certainly may have intentions so the misuse of language models cannot be ruled out The expert jokingly remarked that it is not that programmers want to create virtual companions for themselves; the goal is rather to develop human-like or limbs in conjunction with other technological sectors like bionics Dr Yang also added that there is no need to be overly frightened by the current technological boom as similar major transformations have occurred before fearing the new technology would take their jobs The machine translator translates the text and the process became much faster,’ the expert explained Not only OpenAI has created generative language models but other companies have also tried their hand at it most have not seen the same level of success as ChatGPT Dr Yang sees an advantage in this competition as it has driven interest in the field recently the popularity of large language models also raises concerns especially since we can see that they can be very dangerous it depends on what they are trained for and how they are used These language models seem very intelligent and can solve many tasks so they can be used for bad purposes as well The other perpetual question about these large models is where they got their data from he added that research is being conducted to address this issue Another emerging challenge is the proliferation of fake news as it has become easier to generate false images as it happened in the famous case where the Pope was shown as wearing a puffer jacket in a deep fake video so that culture was not necessarily created by artificial intelligence chatbots are also capable of generating music and images in various styles such as oil paintings or simple photographs wondering why one should spend hours digitally painting or drawing an image when technology can create it in seconds Dr Yang believes there is no need to be so alarmed as the difference between technology and value created by humans is still palpable ‘Human beings can do things that machines can’t They pour their soul into an artwork,’ he said which play important roles in various works they face challenges in understanding and writing the result of which is that the machines often produce monotonous texts programmers need not worry either about losing their livelihoods While some language models code quite well most tend to struggle with more complex tasks Programmers can certainly make use of them but it does not seem that these models will replace them entirely for now the researcher stated that Hungarian researchers have always performed well in the field of technology he also mentioned that competing with ChatGPT is not easy but that is what language models are being measured against now He explained that training a language model the size of ChatGPT requires enormous resources so competing without these resources is out of the question more and more research institutes have access to large supercomputers The Hungarian Research Centre for Linguistics This is how we created the PULI language model,’ the researcher shared the PULI should not be imagined as an imitation of ChatGPT while the Hungarian PULI was trained on forty billion words and the three-language version on one hundred billion words This significant difference is noticeable; therefore PULI is suitable not for conversations but rather for completing sentences but the development does not stop there: ‘We will soon sign a contract with the Debrecen Komondor Thus PULI can become a chatbot suitable for conversations soon where one can chat with the Hungarian language model the stable version might be born by the end of the summer the goal is not necessarily to make PULI a competitor of ChatGPT; it is more about Hungarian researchers understanding the workings and development processes of chatbots like ChatGPT As the researcher put it: ‘We need our own to fully understand how it works.’ Makronóm also discussed the amount of energy required to train such a machine the expert explained that training a language model is indeed not very environmentally friendly So efforts are being made to come up with more energy-efficient and thus more environmentally friendly solutions  Even after a massive sadya, you don’t feel so Much of India’s regional cuisine is slipping into obscurity, Khandekar said, because they seem old-fashioned. But they could become aspirational if elevated by restaurateurs and chefs. “Perhaps it would do us some good if we were to propagate our own regional culinary vocabulary with simpler, more accessible names,” she said. © 2025 Condé Nast. But the trained eye of a nationally known judge at the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show this week had no trouble recognizing her as the top Puli in the nation. Champion Cordmaker Tennessee Waltz or "Matilda," as she is known at home in Eastham with her handler-owner Carolyn Nusbickel was named best of breed at the show in New York City earlier this week. It was the third year in a row the dog has been recognized as the best of breed, a record in the kennel club's history. She prevailed over five other champion Pulik (the plural word for the breed) at the show. Matilda went on to compete against 17 other breeds in the herding group at the show at Madison Square Garden and was recognized along with just six others as dog show judge Ann Rogers Clark's final cut. She did not place in the group, but Nusbickel was thrilled nonetheless. "To be pulled in that company by that judge was a huge honor," she said yesterday, surrounded by Matilda, the dog's father, Dodger, Matilda's 6-month-old daughter, Kissy, and Matilda's 15-year-old grandmother, Annie. The Puli originated in Hungary, where it was bred for herding sheep. Its most prominent characteristic is a soft, corded coat that resembles Rastafarian dreadlocks flowing to the ground. The fur covers the eyes, and the short curled tail and can be black, rusty black, gray or white. The dogs stand about 16-18 inches at the shoulder and, according to Nusbickel, "have a very particular temperament." As herding dogs, they have been bred to be naturally suspicious of strangers, she said. They "choose their people" carefully, she said, but once they do so, they are fiercely loyal. "They're busy, noisy, very intelligent and very loving," Nusbickel said. A strong owner is essential to having a happy experience with the breed, as these dogs can easily outsmart their companions, she said. There are less than a dozen kennels nationwide, and Nusbickel holds one of them, although she only raises about one litter per year. A lively, alert and gentle dog, Matilda was bred by Australian Puli breeder Susan Hubner, whom Nusbickel met at a show while living in Pennsylvania. Nusbickel's dog, Dodger, had won many shows on his own, and she wanted to breed him to one of Hubner's female Pulik. The litter produced not only Matilda, but also eight other multiple best-in-show dogs. Matilda's credentials are impressive by any dog show standard. Along with her Westminster ribbons, she is a national specialty winner, where she beat more than 100 other Pulik. Specialty shows are held for every breed recognized by the American Kennel Club, and they attract dogs from all over the world. She has won shows in New Zealand and Australia, and leaves tomorrow for a whirlwind show circuit with a professional handler in San Francisco. Leaving her will be hard, said Nusbickel, but she realizes that showing is second nature to her dog. "She loves it," she said "She beats the door down. And she absolutely knows when she wins." Youtube content creator and a freelance writer Sony Music IndiaIt starts as a virtual tour of a castle from a video game The Lion King contributes a Zazu-like talking bird Littered with these influences and many more it would not be wrong to say Chimbudevan's Tamil-Hindi bilingual Puli is a truly inspired piece of filmmaking The story is the age old fight between good and evil Good is the baby-faced hero found floating in the basket fangs and superhuman powers led by a tyrant Jalatharangam (Kannada star Sudeep) and evil queen Yamandevi (Sridevi They terrorise poor villagers with a Lagaan-like tax and Gabbar-like brute force a magic potion that works for eight minutes rescue his ladylove and save the human race and still find time for long song and dance sequences with the heroines -- Shruti Haasan his childhood sweetheart and Hansika Motwani he learns to control a one eyed troll with sheer will power pass the Vedaal version of an agnipariksha and triumph in a Gladiator-like battle The story goes back and forth multiple times in a bid to explain causes and effects and the relationships between the characters It is as if the editor has placed the flashback scenes at random if one can be charitable and give that name to the cacophony is an excuse for skin show by the heroines and a bevy of backup dancers especially the fruit- and vegetable-inspired clothes worn by the little people The attempts at humour are unbelievably lame -- a man with two moustaches a frog that must be licked to turn into a direction giving compass So puerile is the humor that the biggest laugh comes when in a film featuring weighty names (Pavazhamani Stepping into this fantasy world of too much song, dance and slapstick humour, into a castle of flat fake easily scalable walls and a gladiatorial arena of cement, one wonders if this very inspired director found the time to watch Game of Thrones For what is a fairytale without at least a believable castle One can hardly expect magic from cinematographer artist Natarajan Subramaniam when all he has to work with are one-dimensional sets borrowed from last decade's video games It is ironic that Puli means 'tiger' because actor Vijay who plays the lead role exhibits not a single tiger-like quality a warrior who can barely wield a sword and with no physique to boast of he is overshadowed even by Shruti Haasan's just competent presence He simply disappears in the presence of Sridevi It gives us hope that one day a prince will come the good is so grating and the prince so plain that evil seems to be the more interesting alternative But in a late plot twist even the evil that entertained for a bit betrays our hopes Puli is a reminder that Chimbudevan's fantasy is our nightmare Short URL: https://caninechronicle.com/?p=274944 The latest fantasy film to hit the screens is Vijay-starrer Puli In keeping with the present trend of socio-fanstasy/ adventure films the film has been released in multiple languages it has some heavy duty graphics and an equally big star cast the film has been hyped a lot and director Chimbu Devan has been claiming that it will cross their mark pretty easily the film has some really badly written romantic situations and some stomach-churning comedy scenes You almost sit up hoping that the second half will bring some relief her no-expression look is totally disappointing especially to her fans one can say that director Chimbu Devan totally fails to make use of the possibilities the script could offer the director fails to create the magic world that he wants us transported to the director fails to make even the basic story interesting Another biggest flaw is the really bad costumes which do not help you feel the time and location the film is set in Vijay look is a disaster thanks to blue contact lenses badly designed leather jackets and hair dye Shruti Haasan's character is too well-dressed as her character is from a small settlement in Chambal valley there is no difference in costumes as far as Hansika who plays the heroine and Shruti who plays Mandara Malli are concerned As for the cast and their performances are concerned Sridevi stands out as a total disaster as she appears to be totally out of sync with the story and her expressions are completely stone-cold. Vijay is known to have a limitation when it comes to emoting One is left feeling that Siddharth was much better in Anaganaga Oka Dheerudu Another star Sudeep is also wasted in a badly conceived script but the director totally fails when it comes to visual effects which are at their best in Tollywood films but neither Sridevi who plays childish games by teleporting nor Sudeep provide any scope for some interesting scenes the hero behaves differently in
