Boogie’s will have a “relaxed, low-fi vibe” in the evenings, Hays shared. Then it becomes “a high-energy underground house music venue” with a pricey sound system.
Visitors after 10 p.m. can order Boogie Bottles, or batched cocktails that can be shared. Hays expects bottles of Champagne to be popular, too.
Service will be “focused on hospitality and not theatrics,” Hays said.
Boogie’s will be at 1806 McMillan Ave., Dallas. It is expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2025.

WEST FARGO — That Marge is really going places
“We’ve really kind of focused our businesses on downtown over the last 10 years
but we really haven’t done anything in West Fargo,” said Hurder
adding that West Fargoans have praised his decision to bring another family-friendly eating option to the city
Hurder said he decided to expand into the West Fargo strip mall after seeing how the infrastructure was already in place and the former business's "Broyhill furniture"-style decor already meshed with Marge's vintage aesthetic
The “new” Marge’s will retain a retro vibe similar to the downtown restaurant — but with some notable differences
most everything gets repurposed or reused anyway,” Hurder said
The booths will highlight the family-oriented section of the restaurant
“We have the liquor license which allows people under 21 (to eat there),” Hurder said
adding that a more traditional “bar vibe” will be reflected on the east end of the 100-seat space
even bar service will boast a “a milkshakey
with milk shakes for kids and old-timey spiked ice cream drinks —like grasshoppers or Golden Cadillacs — for the grownups
The space also will continue to offer Prairie Public-sponsored gaming in a special section
Another Marge’s Diner-inspired touch will be an oversized cross-stitch mural depicting a series of hanging plants and the trademark Marge’s logo
which has “that old British pub look” befitting its former life as the Three Lyons
the new Marge’s won’t serve breakfast initially but will concentrate on lunch and dinner
but it’s not out of the gate yet,” Hurder said
so we’re limited in what we can offer out of the space.”
a shortrib stroganoff and “a couple of funky sandwiches” on the menu
That includes a Sloppy Joe in which the bread has been baked in a coffee can
after which the center is scooped out and filled with Sloppy Joe mixture.
The Boiler Room’s famous Scotch eggs and the salad bar from Marge’s Diner will also both be featured on the new bar and grill’s menu.
“Midwest comfort food is what resonates,” he says
Hurder said the restaurant was “pretty turnkey” when they first took it over
Although they needed to install some new kitchen equipment
the interior has mainly required cosmetic changes
he hopes the new Marge’s Bar & Grill can be open in several weeks
so advises job-hunters to keep an eye out for the new Marge's Bar & Grill website and Facebook page
Job listings will also be shared on all of Marge's socials
Behind the Line is Foobooz’s interview series with the people who make up Philly’s dynamic bar and restaurant scene. For the complete archives, go here
he poured a couple of the brand’s tequilas and mezcals for me to try
pairing them unexpectedly with local cheeses
creamy notes in the liquor — totally different than the smoke-dominant mezcal I was accustomed to
he showed me something I’d never seen before: cooked pieces of agave from the very same plant that had produced the mezcal I was drinking
It brought to life something I’d known but not understood so viscerally: that agave spirits
are expressive of the plants that make them
Dan’s ease with the topic and friendly knowledge made me want to learn (and drink!) more
Not long after that, a kitchen fire ravaged Tequilas, forcing the family to close for more than two years as they rebuilt and reimagined the whole space
Dan is now preparing to introduce Philadelphia to La Jefa
which has transformed the back half of Tequilas’s building into an all-day cafe with natural wine and agave-focused cocktails
We chatted about how he’s brought La Jefa to life
the connections between Philadelphia and Guadalajara
The idea for La Jefa came from … my mom’s nickname
and everyone said “La Jefa!” at the same time
And that’s kind of when it clicked for me that I wanted to open a restaurant or bar with that name
I see it as the next evolution of Tequilas because … Tequilas needed to grow
and it was pushing forward the conversation in Philadelphia about what Mexican food could be
The whole thing is trying to do what Tequilas did in the beginning
The process of rebuilding the restaurant has been … long
It has taken so much longer than any of us thought
but it also has given us the chance to really think about what matters to us in this space
it all came from Mexico and I think you can feel that when you’re in here
La Jefa will serve … a really amazing brunch every day we’re open
which is like a carnitas sandwich kind of drowned in a tomato sauce
with this idea of Guadaladelphia that we’re exploring
rooted in traditional stuff but we’re serving it the way people are doing it now in Mexico
My favorite dish is … the pastrami de lengua on the lunch menu
We’re calling it Guadaladelphian food because … we want to represent what’s going on right now in Mexico
and the connections between Mexico and Philly
The coffee program is led by … Shakur Armstrong, our head of coffee and fermentation. We’re sourcing beans from Mexico through a partnership with Cafe Estelar
which is this amazing coffee roaster in Guadalajara
but also Mexican coffee drinks that you can’t really get anywhere else in Philly
La Jefa will change into … two different bar programs
while the back will be a more intimate space with a different menu we’re calling La Jefa Milpa
The difference is … La Jefa Cafe will be more casual
with amazing house-fermented high balls with things like an agave soda we’re fermenting ourselves out of cooked agave we’re importing from our distillers
but Shakur is making this incredible ginger beer from scratch
Milpa refers to the oldest style of farming in the world
and the idea is that each cocktail is going to be symbolic of an ingredient that’s a part of that
all ingredients that are important in Mexico
My collaborator on this is … Danny Childs
He and I have become friends and we went down to Mexico and brought back tons of ingredients that we’ve been using to develop the recipes
and we’ve had a ton of fun working together on this cocktail program
My favorite cocktail is … this masa Ramos that we’re doing
pulling from a traditional Ramos gin fizz [which has egg white and heavy cream.] It’s a corn spirit base called pox
and it kind of drinks like a masa milkshake
Tequilas’s style is … educationally focused hospitality
but the purpose for them is to kind of like
be a window into what’s going on in Mexico and in the world
I hope La Jefa will be … a space where people can come and have fun
You can dance a little bit and have a great mezcal in your hand
and also feel really connected to the story that we want to share
I hope we do for cocktails what Tequilas did for Mexican food

Neighboring businesses are anxious to see if a fire that collapsed the roof of the vacant building that once housed one of Redding’s more notorious bars will finally spark the city into action to do something about the problem property
the former Bert & Ernie’s building on Industrial Street had been red tagged by the city
Investigators believe the early morning fire was human-caused
accounts manager at NorCal Presort & Printing
said code enforcement officials told her on Friday the city is fast-tracking the demolition of the building
which has been vacant since the bar closed in late 2012
Code enforcement officials did not reply to two phone messages seeking comment
"This placard is not a demolition order" in capital letters
“I don’t know why it has taken so long because we have been on top of it by calling and letting them know about different things that are going on in there,” said Asher
whose business is next door to the former Bert & Ernie’s
Asher and other businesses for years have complained to the city about homeless people camping in the building
Moule’s California Glass owner Michelle Tegerstrand said the illicit activity around the building has gotten worse in recent years
The glass shop also is next door to the former bar
“Even in the last month we have had to report five different incidents to Redding police,” she said
“People are going in there tagging the building
We had somebody break into our parking lot and (break) into our trucks.”
Reding Fire investigator Ron Krznarich said he was inside the building about two weeks ago with code enforcement officials and at the time saw evidence of warming and cooking fires
"The building is heavily known to have transient activity."
Krznarich added that the building’s electricity and gas had long been shut off
So that would rule out those two potential ignition sources for a fire
He said there is an open code enforcement case on the building
but Krznarich did not know the specifics of it
The former Bert & Ernie’s building owner could not be reached for comment
code enforcement issued a notice of noncompliance to the property owner
violations that included trash and debris piles
Bert & Ernie’s was no stranger to police calls when it was open. It also had its liquor license suspended for 30 days in 2009 by state alcohol officials
A state Alcoholic Beverage Control notice was posted on the chain-link fence in front of the building in September 2022 announcing the name of a new business
A building permit for a commercial remodel also was in plan review at the city’s building department

“So for everyone who wants these kids’ lives to be ruined - I think I think you can lay off and I think is a fair (expletive) trade.”
The employees who complied with the customers’ request were fired, according to a post on the bar’s Instagram page
Both the bar and Temple University included strong rejections of antisemitism in their comments
let me be clear: antisemitism is abhorrent," said Temple University President John Fry
"It has no place at Temple and acts of hatred and discrimination against any person or persons are not tolerated at this university."

WASHINGTON (TNND) — Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy is trending after he publicly handled a now-viral video of a "F*** the Jews" sign at his company's Philadelphia bar
On Sunday, Portnoy posted an "Emergency Press Conference" video after being informed of the light-up sign at the Barstool bar
said his phone started blowing up over the sign and vowed to track down those responsible
'F*** the Jews,'" Portnoy said
I've been so mad for the last two hours
this is why the Emergency Press Conference is late
because I was so over the top.''
Portnoy spent much of Sunday tracking down those in the video and the waitresses who served the table
Both of the waitresses seen in the video holding up the sign were fired
with Portnoy describing his phone call with one of them as "one of the dumbest f***ing humans I've ever talked to in my life."
The video of the sign was posted onto an Instagram story of an account that now appears to have been deleted
who said they weren't at the bar that evening
rolling on the people who there," Portnoy said
Portnoy also contacted the person who posted the video before the account was deleted
claiming the person is a student at Temple who began crying and telling Portnoy he isn't antisemitic
how do I make this right before I go ape-s**t
I'm 20 steps ahead and I'm using everything
I am going to come for your f***ing throat unless you give me answers," Portnoy said
In a statement from Temple
President John Fry said the school's Division of Student Affairs identified one Temple student who is believed to have been involved and placed them on interim suspension
The school is promising that "any additional students who are found to be involved will face strict disciplinary action under the Student Conduct Code
Portnoy also said he wants to turn the horrible situation into a learning moment by sending the kids to Auschwitz
On Monday, Portnoy claims he "got into a screaming match" with a local Philadelphia news reporter over the incident
"I know people want me to care about this but I just got in a screaming match with ABC Philadelphia scumbag reporter who tried to blame me and Barstool and white men for the 'F*** the Jews' sign," Portnoy said
Portnoy spoke with the ABC Philadelphia reporter after he said they "begged" him to do an interview
He said the reporter "pulled a quote out of her a** from a made-up journal and demanded she identify where the quote came from
She attributed the quote to two University of Virginia professors
to which Portnoy said he disagreed with the idea
Portnoy also accused the outlet of choosing a different reporter to conduct the interview than the one originally scheduled
influencers and lawmakers praised Portnoy for how he handled the situation

I recently had the opportunity to sit down and talk about digital technology with students and their parents at a high school in Sapporo
And one thing everyone wanted to know about is the age at which kids in the US get their own smart phone
It’s an important question as this decision marks a rite of passage — something like a digital bar mitzvah
had to address this matter when raising my own kid
my wife and I had drawn a line in the sand by determining the age that we thought would be appropriate
But as I admitted to the students and parents in Sapporo
Even though we fought tooth and nail to hold the line on the age that we thought would be appropriate for our child
we were fighting a losing battle against an elementary force more potent and pervasive than gravity — peer pressure
Once other kids in our son’s classroom got smart phones
the Japanese high school approached this in an entirely different way
They came at this challenge as a community
deciding together the age at which students in the school would all get access to this technology
and students — cooperated to ensure its success
So this is what I learned: the digital bar mitzvah can only work when it is rooted in the shared commitment of community

“In light of the particular issues encountered February,” the court lowered the total raw passing score for general bar exam takers to 534 points or higher on the essay

The order came just hours after the State Bar of California announced that its embattled leader, who has faced growing pressure to resign after the exam debacle
informed the Board of Trustees she will not seek another term in the position she has held on and off since 2017
She also apologized for her role in the February bar exam chaos
“Accountability is a bedrock principle for any leader,” Wilson said in a statement
I am responsible for everything that occurs within the organization
the experiences of applicants for the February Bar Exam simply were unacceptable
and I fully recognize the frustration and stress this experience caused
While there are no words to assuage those emotions

Using AI-developed questions written by non-legally-trained psychometricians represents ‘an obvious conflict of interest,’ critics say
The news of Wilson‘s departure came on the day that thousands of February test takers were scheduled to get their exam results
The state bar filed a petition to the Supreme Court on Tuesday — and test takers remain in limbo
unsure when they will learn if they passed or failed
Since the debacle, Sen. Tom Umberg (D-Orange), chair of the state Senate Judiciary Committee, and many legal experts have called on the state bar to ditch the new questions and revert to the traditional test format in July — at least until new questions and methods are adequately tested.
After the botched roll out of the new exam in February
the state’s highest court directed the agency to plan on administering the July exam in the traditional in-person format
deans at more than a dozen California’s American Bar Assn.-accredited law schools wrote to Patricia Guerrero
chief justice of the California Supreme Court
expressing “serious concerns about the exam’s fairness and validity.” The deans urged the court to release all 200 multiple-choice questions that were on the February exam and return to using the NCBE’s Multistate Bar Examination for the multiple-choice portion of the next exam
signaled Friday that California should push ahead with its own bar exam
“As the fourth largest economy in the world
it is only right that California develops its own bar exam
and that ultimately that exam reflect the innovation
and accessibility principles that are central to who we are as Californians,” she said in a statement
“We will not get there by turning backward.”
Wilson first took on the role of executive director in 2017
but exited briefly to work for a consulting firm before returning in 2021
She faced additional scrutiny for her income — she earned an annual 2023 salary of $362,067
plus $59,968 in bonuses — at a time when the state bar is struggling financially
“Stagnating revenue and increasing personnel costs,” California’s state auditor said in a recent report, “have led its general fund to a deficit in four of the last five years.”
Still, Wilson said she was proud of her time at the helm of the state bar, citing her efforts to make the organization an “exceptional workplace” that resulted in “strong staff engagement, positive union relationships and historically low turnover.”
“Over the course of nearly 10 years, I have had the privilege of leading the State Bar through a period of transformative change,” Wilson said in a statement.
“I am particularly proud of our efforts to elevate and offer real solutions to the access-to-justice crisis in our state, make real our commitments to increasing equity and inclusion in the profession, and stabilizing the State Bar financially,” Wilson added.
Brandon Stallings, chair of the state bar’s Board of Trustees, praised Wilson’s leadership, noting she had played a key role in advancing many of the organization’s critical initiatives.
“The Board recognizes the significant contributions that Leah Wilson made during her tenure, particularly in the concerted effort to recognize and address racial disparities in the discipline system,” Stallings said. “We understand and respect her decision, and we are grateful for her service.”

New York
You may not be familiar with the name Bryan Schneider, but if you've knocked back a pepperoncini martini at Bad Roman or a handful of Bangkok screwdrivers at Twin Tails
he’s certainly treated you to a drink
Tending bar since 2005, Schneider has shaken and stirred at some of New York’s most beloved drinking establishments starting with Daniel, eventually overseeing the aforementioned bars while working as the beverage director of Quality Branded
Schneider always envisioned owning his own bar
his vision was a modern, maritime meeting place
ripped from the pages of Herman Melville’s classic novel
“While reading the novel a decade ago
I took about ten pages of notes for a Moby-Dick-inspired bar,” Schneider told Time Out New York
also describing how he was taken by the book’s ties to New York and the vivid description of the smoke-laden
Ten years passed before Schneider serendipitously came upon his prized find
a bar space near the waters of the Hudson River
And so he decided to harpoon his own catch.
Last Friday, Quick Eternity opened its doors at the South Street Seaport in the Financial District
bringing forward Schneider's interpretation of a seaside whaling tavern through a modern lens
The name of the drinking den is drawn directly from chapter 41 of Moby-Dick: “...to chase and point lance at such an apparition as the Sperm Whale was not for mortal man
would be inevitably to be torn into a quick eternity.”
Less of a dive for weary souls and more of a modern revue to raise spirits
the two-level bar features heavy brick walls
leather-backed chairs and cherry wood tables etched with mother of pearl accents
a private event space that also houses Idler Books
an independent bookstore offering a thoughtfully curated selection of new and used titles—including a collection of vintage editions of the obviously inspiring seafaring classic
plans to develop literary programming as well
including a reading club that will take a deep dive into
The most eye-catching sight is found behind the bar on the first floor
Beyond the polished driftwood counter sits a darkened mural of the whale from the novel
the picture is framed by weathered bones seemingly pulled from the beast itself
The maritime mural was commissioned by Tribeca-based artist Azikiwe Mohammed
whom Schneider met while studying art in college.
I gave Azikiwe a particular passage in chapter 3 that describes an oil painting in the entrance to the inn,” said Schneider
“Azikiwe created his own version of the painting described in that passage.”
Mohammed's touch is felt elsewhere as well
The bar has partnered with New Davonhaime Food Bank
an organization conceived and operated by Mohammed that provides fresh produce and pantry staples to New Yorkers experiencing food insecurity
you can sip on a menu of cocktails that pull from references and excerpts from the book
made with Perry’s Tot Navy-Strength Gin
The Rachel (made with Michter’s bourbon
lemon and a float Three Valleys red wine) has a double meaning here: it's named after the whaler ship that eventually pulls Ishmael from the water in the novel and Schneider's own wife
Upgraded tavern fare comes courtesy of chef Antonio Mora
Morandi and Quality Meats) has created a New England-accented menu
The chilled Manhattan clam chowder eats more like a ceviche spun with classic chowder flavors
while the Captain’s Crunch is reminiscent of a Frito-Pie that swaps out chips for prawn crisps
yours to shake up with Du Breton pork chili
Filling meals from the gallows include the Gam Burger with charred onions and a “chaos” sauce
the sticky toffee pudding is drizzled with a Navy-Strength Jamaican rum caramel is a go-to
looking for a good drink or simply enjoy a well-rounded bar, head to Quick Eternity for a good time

the California Supreme Court ordered the state to ditch its newly independent exam and return to the NCBE’s Multistate Bar Examination (MBE) for at least the July 2025 administration
It’s not like they asked ChatGPT to come up with questions and then slapped those on the test
the AI assistance came from the psychometrician side meaning it probably just brainstormed smoother phrasings
And everything got checked by subject matter experts before landing on the exam anyway
making the use of AI on 23 of the 171 questions more of a tempest in a teapot
but that didn’t stop headlines like “California’s Bar Exam: Brought to You by ChatGPT’s Drunk Cousin.”
which should be read as “California already increased the travel and lodging burdens on applicants in a bid to save its money.”
Having already decided to return to an in-person exam in July — eliminating the primary culprit in February’s debacle — the court flushed the progress made on a new exam too
the state returns to square one in the effort to eventually develop a remote testing solution
And so the NCBE, the non-profit with some $175M in assets
will pass Go and will collect considerably more than $200
One sideshow in the California bar exam’s recent misadventures is the decision to remove several veteran subject matter experts from the process of vetting the new questions
The ousted experts assert that this compromised the process while the examiners maintain they still found sufficient expertise to keep the test sound
the reason given for excluding these experts was the fear that it would introduce intellectual property issues if folks on NCBE vetting committees started vetting rival questions
Sort of underlining the whole problem with building a testing environment where one entity writes all the questions across the country
Which is neither here nor there as far as which entity writes the questions

Wallen was arrested in April 2024 after tossing a chair from the roof of Church's Nasvhille bar
California’s February 2025 bar exam was, in technical terms, a hot-ass mess. Nearly 60 percent of post-exam survey respondents reported that the exam software froze
or otherwise became unresponsive during the multiple-choice question portion of the exam
Over 60 percent of respondents said the wording of the multiple-choice questions did not align with standard legal terminology and phrasing
75 percent reported that the copy and paste functions didn’t work
In response to these problems, the California State Bar issued a press release last week announcing that it was making “scoring adjustments” for the exam
The press release also contained an admission
unassumingly positioned more than halfway through the statement
that may at least explain some of the exam’s strange wording: Some of the multiple-choice questions were developed by nonlawyers using “artificial intelligence.”
and anxiety” and offered “all applicants who wish to withdraw from the February exam a full refund (less bank fees).”
which should theoretically reflect the minimum competence necessary for entry-level attorneys in the state
and which is not intended to screen entry-level attorneys
The remaining 23 questions came from ACS Ventures itself
I want to stress here that this means that the same company charged with evaluating bar exam questions’ validity were writing some of the questions
California’s debacle also underscores how useless the exam is in the first place—or rather
how ineffective it is at achieving its stated goal
(It was admittedly very effective at making me so stressed I missed menstrual cycles and gained 30 pounds.) Most of those who take it spend months learning the minute details of topics they will never need to think about again
many of the practical skills those future lawyers will need—conducting legal research
The bar is a good test of who can afford to take expensive prep courses and not work for three months; it is also a good test of rote memorization and speed-reading skills
But it is not a good test of one’s ability to competently practice law

PogChamps 6 continues to amaze fans and commentators alike
Players found new and creative ways to blunder their queens
and entertain the audience on the first day of the knockouts
Sapnap and Steve Nedoroscik defeated Sambucha and Inoxtag to move on to the Semifinals of the Championship Bracket
LydiaViolet and Linzor beat Macaiyla and Hungrybox in two chaotic matches
PogChamps 6 continues May 2 with the Semis and Finals of both brackets
There's no more right; there's no more wrong
We're now entering a world where knights cannot be taken
The match between LydiaViolet and Macaiyka was like something out of a Dali painting
one could not help but marvel at its unique beauty
Things started out normally in the first game of the match. Macaiyla went for the Cow
Lydia eventually won that first game after taking all of Macaiyla's pieces
It is hard to describe what happened in that second game
Attacked knights could just laugh at enemy pawns without ever being taken
Queens could come and go as they pleased without fearing the guillotine
even Macaiyla was begging for it all to end:
Those who appreciate chess (or art) can check the full game on our Events page
Lydia shared her thoughts on her stream after the game: "You know when people are like
'Is it about the journey or is it about the destination?' It's about the destination
Meanwhile, DrLupo, who was replaced by Macaiyla due to a Fair Play violation, offered a new explanation during a stream today after incorrectly saying on Wednesday that he had dropped out of the event
DrLupo went on to say he is "appalled and embarrassed" by his own actions
I deserve 100 percent what people are saying
The previous match was clearly too much for anyone to handle
as our official broadcast crashed and burned
delaying the start of the second match.
No one knew what to expect of the match between Linzor and Hungrybox once everything came back online
Hungrybox got into time trouble and let the comeback slip
leading us to believe that the secret to success is giving the queen back
you will never guess what happened in the tiebreak game
Linzor ultimately won the match after delivering her "nicest checkmate yet" and moved on to the Semifinals
we're all used to pog players giving up pieces
In the first game between Sapnap and Sambucha
it was Sapnap's turn to give up a rook for a bishop
But what if I told you it was not a blunder
One does not need calculation when armed with vibes
Sapnap went all in and played an epic sacrifice to go after Sambucha's king.
And just as Sapnap was wondering if he had overcooked
Sambucha could not resist and left his king open for a checkmate
Sapnap won the first game and made history
The second game was a more balanced affair
Both players played well and took the game to a knight and rook endgame
Sapnap then found a fork to win a crucial pawn:
promoting one of his pawns to a queen and checkmating his opponent to end the match.
Sambucha offered an interesting analysis that showed a deep level of understanding that few chess players could display:
but the important question of who would win a fight between 100 men or one gorilla
Inoxtag and Steve Nedoroscik were the two highest-rated players in the quarterfinals
Both players made mistakes throughout the first game
but both also failed to duly punish their opponents
But if there's one thing we've learned is that it's never too late for disaster. Despite being a pawn up, Inoxtag allowed Steve to promote first. With a rook against lone pawns, Steve had the game on his hands. But then, WFM Alexandra Botez just had to jinx it
but Inoxtag found great defensive resources to keep his advantage
Steve eventually turned the tables and got a winning attack against Inoxtag's king.
It was then that Steve went for a genius tactic
and that's all Steve needed to take the match to tiebreaks
Both players fought well in the blitz tiebreak
but Steve found a tactic first to win material
Inoxtag was playing too fast and allowed Steve to penetrate with his queen
it didn't take long for Steve to win the tiebreak and the match
where Group A and B leaders will join the party

Philadelphia police are investigating the situation involving an anti-Semitic sign that was displayed at a Barstool Sports-owned bar in the city over the weekend
Video of the incident in question from the bar located on Sansom Street made the rounds on social media and was highlighted by the X account StopAntisemitism
a woman who appears to be an employee of the bar is seen holding a sign that reads "Fu-k The Jews."
"We are currently looking into this matter," Philadelphia police told Fox News Digital
"A video has surfaced showing a sign at the Philly Barstool bar
We are working to gather more information and will provide an update as soon as possible."
Dave Portnoy, founder of Barstool Sports, shared multiple videos on social media on Sunday reacting to the incident.
I've been so mad for the last two hours
this is why the emergency press conference is late
because I was so over the top," Portnoy
"I'm going to fuc-ing make it my life fuc-ing mission to ruin these people
"You think I'm going to put up with this sh-t at my bar?"
Portnoy also claimed in a video that two kids allegedly involved in the incident attend Temple University in Philadelphia.
Temple has since shared that the university has identified one student believed to have been involved and placed that individual on interim suspension, according to Fox 29 Philadelphia. John Fry, the university President, also released a statement explaining that the alleged actions will not be tolerated at Temple.
"In the strongest terms possible, let me be clear: antisemitism is abhorrent," Fry said in the statement. "It has no place at Temple and acts of hatred and discrimination against any person or persons are not tolerated at this university."
After Portnoy's original ‘Emergency Press Conference’ on the situation, he shared another video on social media and explained that he would be sending those involved in the situation to Poland to visit Auschwitz in hopes that they will learn something.
"My initial reaction was that I am going to fuc-ing burn these people to the ground, their families, and it's like you know what, maybe that's not the best course of action, maybe I can use this as a teaching moment," Portnoy explained.
A spokesperson for the bar said two of its employees involved in the incident have been fired.
"We are saddened, embarrassed, and frustrated by the deplorable actions of a customer and misguided staff acting outside the scope of their duties, which resulted in anti-Semitic hate speech last evening at our establishment," the bar said.

DeLAND
– Officers have made an arrest in a shooting early Saturday at a DeLand bar that left a man dead and a bartender wounded
Officers and Volusia County deputies responded around 1:30 a.m
the DeLand Police Department said in a news release
Witnesses told investigators that a fist fight broke out between several men in the bar and led to one of them pulling out a firearm and shooting
police announced they had arrested 24-year-old Avantae Williams
who they say shot 32-year-old Keshod Harris of DeLand six times in the chest
Harris died after being taken to a local hospital
The bartender who was also shot was hospitalized for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries
Once the perpetrator was able to break free from the fight
the perpetrator pulled out a gun and it appears to me that the perpetrator did not care who was around
He pulled out a gun and his intended target was in front of him
he shot the bartender,” DeLand police Capt
Prurince Dice said during a news conference
“She was trying to intervene and trying to do a good deed and ended up being shot
I’m not sure if she’s still in the hospital right now
but I do know that she went for treatment and she’s doing very well.”
The bar had about 30 to 40 people in it when the shooting occurred
he said that the shooter and the victim were part of two different groups that entered the bar one after the other
and then appears to be a disagreement and a fight broke out,” Dice said
adding the groups appeared to be no larger than four or five people each
appeared to have been a concealed .40 caliber
though Dice said there was also evidence found outside of the bar of a smaller-caliber round being fired at some point
there‘s probably two guns (that were used),” Dice said
based on historical information and based on having interactions with these individuals in the past
“(...) We’re reviewing all the footage right now as we speak and I believe we’re going to be fortunate in solving this pretty quickly.”
They were friends and that was personal,” said Kenttesha Harris
