The Kherson Regional Prosecutor's Office reported this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.
"On the morning of March 13, 2025, Russian military personnel once again attacked the city of Beryslav with a drone. As a result of the strike on one of the streets, a 68-year-old man sustained fatal injuries. Another civilian, an 85-year-old man, was wounded," the statement said.
Prosecutors, along with investigators, are documenting the war crimes committed by the Russian army.
The prosecutor's office has launched an investigation into the man's death caused by the drone attack.
Russian forces also shelled residential areas in the Dniprovskyi district of Kherson at around 06:00 on March 13, damaging civilian homes and sparking fires.

DW has published an investigation into an unprecedented number of drone strikes targeting the Ukrainian city of Beryslav that have reportedly left at least 16 civilians dead and 130 injured

Head of DW Investigations: "These attacks leave little traces and much of the area is inaccessible due to the frequent attacks
Sometimes a digital footprint is the only evidence of these attacks
This is why the team had to rely on open sources like the Telegram channels of Russian soldiers and politicians
The story highlights how important it is to look closely at what is happening near the frontlines in Ukraine
A new pattern of war crimes is emerging here."
A team of DW's investigative unit and DW's Kyiv bureau worked on the topic for six months
analyzing hundreds of Telegram posts and mapping drone attacks in Beryslav based on reports from Ukrainian authorities
The team was supported by the Ukrainian Archive at Mnemonic and the Centre for Information Resilience’s Eyes on Russia Project
The result is an investigation that documents
a new pattern of possible war crimes: civilian casualties via the use of first-person-view or FPV drones
FPV drones provide the pilot with a real time image of the target
thus making it hard to not recognize civilian individuals as such
DW reveals that Russian soldiers may have used drones to indiscriminately and systematically target Beryslav’s civilian population
The Ukrainian city of Beryslav has become a hotspot for Russian drone attacks which have killed or injured around 150 civilians here so far
DW has been investigating why Beryslav has seen such a disproportionate level of drone activity and found evidence that Russia may be testing a new type of drone on civilians
That’s according to the Kherson Regional State Administration, Ukrinform reports.
“Yesterday evening, Russian forces attacked Beryslav from the air. The invaders dropped six guided bombs on a health care facility,” the report says.
It is noted that the hospital staff managed to hide in shelters. However, several doctors sustained concussion-type injuries, according to preliminary information.
As Ukrinform reported, Russian troops struck 35 settlements in the Kherson region yesterday, injuring four people.
The small Ukrainian city of Beryslav on the Dnipro River has become the target of an unprecedented wave of Russian drone strikes that has left nearly 150 civilians injured or killed.

Oleksandr Bilskyi began his service for Greek Catholics in the small town of Beryslav
his community was composed of only two families.
after more than a year of large-scale warfare
located on the right bank of the Dnipro River
was occupied by Russian troops during the early stages of the invasion of Ukraine and was liberated by the Ukrainian army the following November during the counteroffensive that led to the liberation of Kherson
Beryslav's population dropped from the initial twelve thousand to four thousand inhabitants
The newly built little church and the small local Greek Catholic community became a crucial hotspot for the needy
offering daily hot meals as the Russian occupation had cut off the food supply from the large nearby towns
Speaking with Vatican News reporter Svitlana Dukhovych
Oleksandr presented the "Five Loaves and Three Fishes" soup kitchen
we had about the same amount of resources," the priest explained
"our parish is small: it has only about 30 people
the Lord blessed those 'five loaves and two fish' of ours and
the parish offered lunch to about 30 people every Sunday in the courtyard of their small church dedicated to the Seven Maccabean Brothers
which was scheduled to be consecrated on August 14
Oleksandr recounted how he left for Beryslav as soon as he heard about the start of the conflict on February 24
"but I could not get there because the Ukrainian military would not let me through
saying it was very dangerous: Russian troops had already entered the town."
After multiple attempts to get into the town
thinking that probably the Lord was protecting me from something
Oleksandr temporarily settled in the Mykolaiv region but remained close to his parishioners
directing the daily hot meal distribution inside the church
“After two weeks since the beginning of the occupation
there was nothing to buy because the stores were closed
offering a hot meal to 120 to 130 people.”
As the parish volunteers in Beryslav distributed meals in the church
with some of them bringing lunch to the houses of those who couldn't move
Oleksandr took care of getting them groceries
He would ask for money from different organizations
he was able to send them to Beryslav with the minibusses that went back and forth evacuating people from those areas
he found another way: his parishioners would ask farmers from nearby villages to sell them vegetables and meat
Oleksandr would pay them through e-banking
The young priest recalled with emotion the announcement of Beryslav's liberation
but also tears of sadness because I saw what the Russian army left behind
and that is why I decided to go once a week to the west of the country to continue to bring aid.”
Oleksandr is also active in the neighboring villages
he bought two thousand warm blankets and distributed them to the elderly
As the conflict made Ukrainian rethink the meaning of so many things in life
Oleksandr understood his vocation more clearly: "I try to be like a father ready to listen
because we are a big family where everyone knows each other's needs and where we often understand each other even without words."
The benevolent atmosphere among the people helps them endure a state of continuous danger and threat
as from the Greek Catholic parish on the right side of the Dnipro bank
occupied by the Russians: about 5 km of the river water divides them.
“We encourage people to leave because Beryslav and other towns on the right bank are under constant fire from the Russians
They hit both infrastructure buildings and private homes
"People really get to know each other in times of difficulties," the young priest affirmed
It is amazing to see how much they are willing to sacrifice to help each other
and I am learning it from them every day.”
pushing them to try to finish cooking even among the sound of bombing
with other 50 meals distributed to people who are not self-sufficient
has installed a box on his bicycle and manages to deliver up to thirty lunches a day."
The fatigue might sometimes be overwhelming; however
I see how they sacrifice for their neighbors

The Russian army is retreating from Kherson
It’s poised to leave behind it a lot of destruction and dead bodies
a port at the mouth of the Dnipro River on the Black Sea
was one of Russia’s biggest prizes as its forces rolled into Ukraine in late February
widening a war that began eight years ago with Russia’s illegal annexation of Ukraine’s Crimean Peninsula
disorganized Ukrainian forces gave up Kherson
with its strategic port and railyard and prewar population of 300,000
Kherson anchored Russian positions on the southern front
liberating Kherson was a top priority for Kyiv
Holding on to the city was one of Moscow’s top priorities
the Ukrainian army—recently rearmed with new American-made howitzers and rocket-launchers—began striking Russian supply lines around Kherson
The 49th Combined Arms Army and other Russian forces in Kherson Oblast frayed
The Kremlin shifted from the east to the south to bolster the 49th CAA
but that left gaps in Russian lines in the east—gaps the Ukrainian army exploited with a counteroffensive starting in early September
Ukrainian troops in the south counterattacked at the same time
The southern counteroffensive faced more resistance than the eastern counteroffensive did
but it still made swift progress east of Kherson
where a dam across the Dnipro offers a durable escape route out of Kherson Oblast north of the river
Gen. Sergei Surovikin, the recently appointed commander of Russian forces in Ukraine, on Tuesday told Russian media “a difficult situation has emerged” in Kherson
As Ukrainian brigades and the wet Ukrainian winter approach
the Kremlin is prepared to give up Kherson
it’s going to inflict as much pain as possible—on its own forces and the Ukrainians
There are reports the Russian army is forcing recent draftees
who nearly to a man are unfit and untrained
to fight a rearguard action in order to buy time for better troops to reach Beryslav
Meanwhile, Russian occupation officials are opening the dam
sending more water downriver toward Kherson and the river delta adjacent to the city
The flooding could complicate Ukrainian operations
Flood waters would inundate Kherson and even creep north toward the nearby free city of Mykolaiv
a major base of operations for Ukrainian forces in the south
The weather is getting colder and wetter and the mud is getting deeper
Most units on both sides of the conflict aren’t ready to wage war in the mud
both are likely to slow in the coming weeks
and they’re not without options to limit the damage
“but may struggle to withdraw in good order if Ukrainian forces choose to attack.”

Only 2,000 Remained in the Town: Who is Destroying Beryslav in Kherson Region
has been suffering from enemy shelling on a daily basis
The Russians are levelling it to the ground
hitting civilian objects and homes with artillery
The Slidstvo.Info journalists found out who is shelling Beryslav and where the warplanes with bombs are taking off from
“Go and hug your grandfather. Maybe you won’t see him again,” a father tells a teenager from Beryslav
the police evacuated 4 families with children and a grandparent from the city
where the security situation was extremely difficult
The special operation was carried out under heavy fire: first
the occupiers dropped ammunition from drones on residential areas
then covered the city with mortar fire and fired from a tank
“Beryslav suffers from enemy attacks every hour
the army of the terrorist country drops 15 guided bombs at a time
the situation is getting worse every day,” Kherson police wrote
the enemy sends guided and high-explosive bombs to Beryslav
This leads to local deaths and massive destruction

On 28 October, the enemy fired 10 guided aerial bombs at Beryslav within 30 minutes
Powerful explosions damaged 9 private houses
There was not a single surviving apartment in a five-storey building
the Russians launched 8 more guided bombs at the city

At dawn on 26 October, the Russian military attacked Beryslav from the air

the occupiers struck the city for the second time with guided aerial bombs
destroying another 10 residential buildings

A 13-year-old boy was killed by an enemy shell on the street
And so it is every day in Beryslav. Russians are hitting civilian objects. On 5 October, the occupiers dropped a guided aerial bomb on a hospital and an emergency station
The Odesa Operational and Strategic Group of Forces says that the occupiers are attacking the city from aircraft from the Southern and Eastern Military Districts of the Russian Armed Forces
All aircraft are temporarily based at the airfields of the Southern Military District

he was deployed to the city of Krymsk (Krasnodar Territory
Russia) as a deputy commander of an aviation squadron
fighter jets from the Lipetsk air centre took off from the Marinovka airfield in Volgograd Oblast
the Russians began to use the airfield for attacks on Ukraine
Slidstvo.Info journalists found satellite images from there
which are very easy to recognise even in poor quality images due to their bright blue colour
Next to them are stacked objects that look like guided bombs
all the military personnel interviewed by the journalists are convinced that no one would store ammunition in this way
“These are most likely containers for X-59 missiles
there are a lot of different warehouses where weapons can be stored
Because weapons will not just lie in the open air
These precision-guided aircraft missiles cannot be stored in the open air,” says aviation expert Anatoliy Khrapchynsky
Khrapchynsky also noticed that in addition to SU-34s
the Russians have put in another air defence system
The expert also noted that sometimes the occupiers resort to military tactics to prevent Ukrainians from tracking where the planes take off from
and at the same time do some pirouettes to make it difficult to understand where they are coming from,” Khrapchynskyi said
Sources in the Ukrainian air defence forces confirmed the same to Slidstvo.Info
the planes are indeed “covering” each other
Primorsko-Akhtarsk and Maikop are also used to attack Beryslav
according to the Odesa Operational and Strategic Group of Forces
Beryslav is shelled by the 205th Motorised Rifle and 227th Artillery Brigades of the 49th Combined Arms Army of the Russian Federation
the 144th Motorised Rifle Brigade is also stationed there
The 227th Artillery Brigade of the Russian Army is stationed in the city of Maikop (Republic of Adygea)
It is armed with Msta-B and Msta-S howitzers

command and control and communications systems
From 2018 to May 2022, the brigade was commanded by Alexei Repin
