The court takes his position into account and rejects the prosecutor's testimony the court read out the testimonies of three witnesses is the mother of 30-year-old Sergey Nikityuk She stated that he joined the Aidar battalion in September 2021 and served as an artilleryman her son decided to go to the battalion because he had owed a significant amount of money to his acquaintances She last spoke to him in late February 2022 told the court that he did not discuss his life with his mother: "I had no debts the partner of 49-year-old Vyacheslav Bayduyk an alleged “assistant to the grenade launcher” according to the accusation She said she met the defendant in November 2015 when he assisted her with repairing her vehicle Then “he was called up for military service and sent to Volnovakha,” she explained he worked as a delivery person at a store in town then he started helping Kamyshenko cultivate mushrooms at home he was offered a military contract opportunity Bayduyk attempted to engage in business again He went on vacation in May 2021 and then obtained his military ID in the Lviv Oblast,” the presiding officer read out he was no longer in a military nor in a territorial defense unit after that Kamyshenko provided investigators from the DNR with copies of his contract with Aidar is signed on “Lypen 23” or July 23 one of the lawyers from the front row asks and even someone from the audience replies The last testimony read in court were given by Nikolay Zagrebaev presented as a “medic” in the case file he couldn't attend the court because he was "in the zone of a special military operation." Zagrebaev stated that his mother signed a military contract at the end of 2015 He didn't know much about his mother's life and he said he learned about her joining the Aidar battalion only through social media: “She posted a photo in uniform on Facebook.” He couldn’t provide any of her documents people in civilian clothing took away her military ID and two folders with documents,” Zagrebaev told the investigators Prutyan stated that her son got the dates wrong She said she signed her first contract in February 2017 and firstly worked as an accountant She became a combat medic in Aidar only in July 2020: “Yes There is no weapon or anything like that,” she told the court The next hearing in the case will take place on October 5 where the prosecution will continue presenting evidence Over the past year, I’ve built a few different custom GPTs using the ChatGPT platform from OpenAI. My goal with each Generative AI tool is to help you understand the intricacies of US government regulations This is especially needed by smaller international development firms and local organizations without large compliance teams I firmly believe that GenAI tools performing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) using factual external resources can generate accurate human-readable responses from dense legal texts. Even when my chatbots fail Here are the GenAI tools I’ve created using the ChatGPT platform and available on the GPT Store: Please be sure to share your feedback on using these chatbots with me I am still learning how to optimize these tools OpenAI has just announced that the custom GPTs that I created on the OpenAI Store are now free to all ChatGPT users You no longer need to create a paid account to enjoy these GPTs You can also use OpenAI’s newest flagship model please be sure to double check the results to ensure accuracy We are all at the mercy of OpenAI with ChatGPT which is trained on the full glory of the Internet – the good or appropriate regulation expert for their input before making any decisions based on these chatbots There will always be nuance and context that no computer will know I am humbled to have to understand this Ai tools I am yet to learn and put them to productive use Kindly guide me on the process of learning and grants It is great that OpenAI finally made these custom GPTs free to non-subscribers and I must admit that it struggled with what I thought was a pretty softball question I asked it what expenses under $75 require a receipt and it missed completely that receipts are required for taxis in the US regardless of cost It also kept talking about how telephone calls over $75 require a receipt which is the opposite of what I was asking but it shows the limitations of ChatGPT’s comprehension of some types of text We are all at the mercy of OpenAI when using chatbots developed on ChatGPT This is why I built a custom LLM for my previous employer – for greater control and accuracy It was more accurate than Google Search for the Federal Acquisition Regulation faster than the State Department’s own search engine for the Foreign Affairs Manual and more comprehensive than either on IRS’ Internal Revenue Manuals This is such a great contribution to the development community I’m eager to check out some of the others you’ve built the ADS bot really botched answers with respect to ADS205 (gender) yet did so with great confidence as always This is dangerous since others less familiar with gender-related compliance might not be able to discern the inaccuracies I just popped in and asked the same questions and the improvement is amazing–the answers were factually accurate It’s my understanding that custom GPTs don’t get upgraded to 4o… Would love to hear more on what tinkering you did OpenAI says that GPTs now use the newest flagship model That probably explains its better understanding of gender in the ADS OpenAI cautioned that behavioral changes with the new model should have me review and test these GPTs to ensure they continue to perform as intended I did a few tests but didn’t find much change ICTworks™ is the premier resource for international development professionals committed to utilizing new and emerging technologies to magnify the intent of communities to accelerate their social and economic development Enter your e-mail to get ICTworks 3x a week!: Our team gladly accepts outside contributors for ICTworks articles. Thanks for your questions around these LLM AI systems. I feel they probably warrant their own post since these are questions larger than me or my efforts. Maybe you can write a guest post to bring them to our 25,000 email subscribers Thanks for sharing the results of your interesting work I’m a little unclear about the objective You say that the AI Chatbots will ‘analyze’ the AIDAR etc You also say “My aim in creating these chatbots is to reduce confusion and repetitive questions that tire us all and implementing partners to focus on the complex regulation questions…” I’m not sure what these points mean in practical terms Perhaps you can share a couple of examples showing input (e.g the type of repetitive questions you refer to) versus output I am not privy to the specific questions asked of EXOs and USAID staff and I doubt I could share them publicly if I did know I’ve had plenty of regulation-related questions swirl around me over my 20-year career in implementing partner organizations Most of them relate to procurement and are covered by the FAR or AIDAR Others are process related and can be in the ADS or FAM/FAH A majority of questions are only asked once – see the ChatGPT vs Claude post for examples – but multiply a dozen only-ask-once questions by the dozens of people hired into international development every day and you have thousands of similar questions occupying hundreds of contract compliance officers time every month Would be interested in this but it looks like it’s only available to ChatGPT Plus subscribers So it’s not quite “free” Just gonna second what Alex said…and I myself was not aware of this until now Apparently you can only interact with custom GPT’s of you’re a Plus subscriber I thought a subscription was only required for making the custom bots but apparently I was wrong I too thought that a subscription was only required for making the custom bots however OpenAI changed its rules to say you needed a Plus subscription and then stopped accepting new subscribers This is another reason to move solutions like this in-house so you’re not at the whim of a third party’s business decisions Perhaps it can be posted here or elsewhere like “Work with USAID” social media when accessible Has anyone here signed up to try ChatGPT Plus and they have also put a hold on new chat+ subs as of the past few weeks so we’ll have to wait even of we want to pony up how can the Chat GPT update the AIDAR and other files How does one guarantee that the files ChatGPT is accessing are in fact accurate I am sure that there would be interest in my agency for finding FAM/FAH information that is better than a word search the FAMs and FAHs get added to almost every month I also have to ask about the cost of maintaining such a specialized database as government agencies are notoriously slow to adopt new tech if there is a new budget line needed to do that hence my note in the post that these are the public rules that I could find one could have the relevant regulations ingested at whatever interval (daily monthly) deemed necessary and time stamped so users would know how recently the LLM updated its regulations files we developed a FAM/FAH Bot that was demonstrability better than the State’s keyword search I wasn’t privy to the pricing strategy they wanted to use with LLM chatbots tuned to regulations but the costs were marginal when compared with other software services and therefore could be (and often where) incorporated into existing contracts either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content Ukraine's military shared dramatic his mortarmen's tasks at a dugout-turned-command center on the Bakhmut front in Donetsk Oblast on May 31 (Asami Terajima/The Kyiv Independent)Editor’s note: The Kyiv Independent interviewed a few dozen soldiers deployed near Bakhmut and visited their positions in late May and early June The soldiers are identified by their first names or call signs for security reasons amid the ongoing Russian war in Ukraine Donetsk Oblast – Thuds of incoming artillery were loud as four senior servicemen from Ukraine’s 24th Assault Battalion (Aidar) walked through the mud to their dugout “Everything is being watched,” one of them said Russia’s reconnaissance drones are closely monitoring movements across the Bakhmut front trying to locate Ukrainian positions like this dugout-turned-command center Ukraine responds by using drones of its own to spot Russian forces passing coordinates to mortarmen a few kilometers away “We watch streams provided by the drones and control our artillery a 34-year-old lieutenant and mortar battery commander from Kyiv with the call sign “Lighthouse,” said once he entered the dugout Denys’ mortarmen are covering several defense lines of infantry deployed in front of them with the furthest standing as close as 50 to 100 meters from the Russian forces Ukrainian forces are taking the initiative and conducting localized counterattacks on the flanks near Bakhmut who leads a team of up to 50 mortarmen deployed near Bakhmut since October 2022 where more villages like the southwestern Ivanivske are located rather than in the north – an open field where every movement is easily detected Though Bakhmut had fallen to Russia in May Ukrainian soldiers believe the city served its goal – grinding down Russia’s offensive capability that it could otherwise use elsewhere They say that Russia concentrated its troop and equipment deployment to Bakhmut which may have helped the Ukrainians launch a counteroffensive in the country’s southeast But the cost Ukraine paid to defend Bakhmut for so long was high several hundred Ukrainian soldiers were killed on the toughest days of the battle usually numbering between 400 to 1,000 soldiers Ukraine has not officially reported its casualties in the battle for Bakhmut but it is expected to be staggeringly high According to the testimonies of soldiers from various brigades thousands have lost their lives fighting for the city – with infantry taking the heaviest losses His unit has been fighting here for eight months For Aidar Battalion Senior Sergeant Maksym Russia’s destruction of Bakhmut is too familiar which for months remained the last Ukrainian holdouts in Luhansk Oblast suffered a similar fate before Russia captured them in July 2022 After capturing Bakhmut using the same brutal siege tactic the Ukrainians say the Russian forces are not attempting a major push in the area thus far Ukraine has for months strengthened its defense around Bakhmut anticipating Russia’s eventual capture of the city was also built during winter in anticipation of a retreat from the city The Aidar Battalion’s soldiers are deployed near Ivanivske which sits on the road between Bakhmut and Chasiv Yar The Russians must capture Ivanivske to advance toward Chasiv Yar – a hilly town that holds high grounds which is advantageous for Ukrainian troops on the defensive Russian forces have been heavily bombarding Ivanivske and Chasiv Yar from high-rise buildings in southwestern Bakhmut and they are already beating it very seriously methodically razing it to the ground,” he said But no matter how hard the Russians are firing at them Maksym said it is scary because if anything happens to them the infantry would be left without fire support “The guys in front of us won’t survive long without us and we know we will not live long without them,” Maksym said and mortars don’t always hit the target because they are subjected to weather conditions Picking the right angle and coordinates is crucial Maksym said the “black and scary” humor with his comrades somehow keeps them going despite the hardships everyone has their own civilian profession and we never wanted to fight,” Maksym said “It’s not that we are brave; it’s just that someone broke into your house Both Maksym and Oleksandr said they are fighting for their hometowns Oleksandr from occupied Sievierodonetsk said “My goal in joining the army was so that I would end up in Sievierodonetsk.” The battle for Bakhmut has been the longest and the bloodiest phase of Russia’s war in Ukraine While the Ukrainian authorities have not confirmed it yet Russia captured Bakhmut on May 20 when the Russian Defense Ministry and Wagner mercenaries claimed victory over the ruined city according to Ukrainian soldiers and their commanders deployed in the area A 42-year-old Odesa-born mortar battery commander from the 58th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade with a call sign “Lesnik,” also named Denys believes holding on to Bakhmut was part of the counteroffensive Russia has likely become “less flexible in reacting to operational changes” after deploying its elite troops to Bakhmut, such as its airborne forces, according to the U.K Defense Ministry’s June 3 intelligence report But all of it came at a significantly high cost Of the roughly 1,000 soldiers from his battalion deployed in Bakhmut since January only about 100 were still active when they left in May to recover from the losses The 93rd is among the brigades that fought in the southwestern part of Bakhmut near the now-destroyed MiG-17 aircraft monument where rows of single-family houses lined up turned into a bloody battlefield because there were no tall buildings that could be used as hideouts according to mortar battery commander Denys it’s very good,” the mortar commander said only received a week of training after being drafted on March 29 the only effective training can be done on the battlefield by more experienced soldiers Barely flinching at the thundering incoming and outgoing artillery shells over his head Mykola said that the two months of fighting in and around Bakhmut were extremely brutal only eight out of the original 71 soldiers in his company remain in action A soldier from the western city of Chernivtsi who is deployed as a squad commander of an infantry unit based near Bakhmut said he drank “water with blood” from a puddle as there was no other option Shocked at how many of his comrades were killed in the battle after returning from the front line he said he worries if his superiors knew the extent of the brutality of the battle for the now destroyed and occupied city Not everyone can handle the stress on the front line silence – which is rare on the front line – is uncomfortable because it usually meant that Russian forces were preparing for a major attack a 28-year-old mortarman from the 93rd brigade whose call sign is "Tarzan," struggles to sleep after his first combat mission near Bakhmut in May that heavy artillery will kill him in his sleep But no matter how horrifying their experience on the front line the soldiers always say they were more worried about their comrades than themselves Some of the strongest bonds are born in extremely harsh conditions In addition to all the stress the soldiers face to protect their comrades they are each going through their own personal battles that they try to keep to themselves it’s talking with his mother as if he isn’t serving in the military but he thinks it would be more painful to watch her nervously worry about him in western Volyn Oblast who takes care of Vitaly and other young soldiers in his platoon fighting near Kreminna – another hotspot of Russia’s war the Dnipro-native soldier whose callsign is “Borman,” said a 43-year-old soldier from Chasiv Yar who lives with Anatoly and Vitaly is worried he might never see his family again He said it’s extremely painful to watch his hometown and Bakhmut 10% you will make it (till the end of the war)," Serhiy who is eagerly waiting for his first combat mission so he can help end the war faster "We can be alive today and not tomorrow." ______________________________________________________ the Media Development Foundation’s “25 under 25: Young and Bold” 2023 list of emerging media makers in Ukraine You don't have permissions to access this page a liquor distilled from fermented sugarcane juice is more than just a Brazilian alcoholic drink – it’s a way of life From its humble origins more than 400 years ago among the slave fields it has become the country’s most popular tipple and a cultural icon in the process That’s something that Guilherme Müller Filho understood in 1959 when he first produced Cachaça 51 in Pirassununga in the state of São Paulo, marking the start of Companhia Müller de Bebidas Now the product is beloved by Brazilians and cachaça lovers worldwide with the company exporting its growing range of beverages to more than 50 countries around the globe So when José Aidar Neto took on the CEO role at Brazilian drinks giant Companhia Müller de Bebidas in 2018 he knew it was the opportunity of a lifetime But he also recognized that the position came with huge responsibilities along with a number of challenges “It had already been performing for some years well below expectations even declining,” he tells The CEO Magazine “Although the company is very solid financially one of his first realizations was that although the company was determined to turn things around there was little “clarity” on how exactly to do it At this point José decided to “strategically redefine” the business basing the new approach on real data which revealed its strengths and opportunities the nature of the competition and areas worth investing in “Stage two was a general alignment so the board completely understood the direction we wanted to move in and gave us all their support,” he explains “Then we did the same within the organization.” implementation of new processes and integration between different departments “We’ve been working on the implementation of all this for the past three years,” José says “We still have opportunities in the strategic paths that were identified and defined We’re continuing our growth agenda with acceleration in two main pillars: Cachaça 51 and our ready-to-drink offerings such as 51 Ice which generate our growth vector within the category.” Companhia Müller de Bebidas will continue focusing on these two key pillars to give continuity to the growth of the company for the next three years That includes finding a way around difficulties such as the maturity of the category as well as the fact that Cachaça 51 already has a very strong market presence That for me is almost a new way of working – analyze and choose For now that means resuming the growth of the 51 family as a market leader and then consolidating the leadership of the product new packaging and extensive marketing efforts.” He also underlines the importance of increasingly adopting “commercial aggressiveness” which means ensuring marketing is aligned with sales – but it also requires a mental shift in the way the company works as a whole it also means learning the machinations of an entirely new world It is very different from what we traditionally work with,” José admits Meanwhile José is incredibly proud of the work the company is doing in the area of environmental “I’m not just looking at the three years since I have been here but rather looking at the entire 62 years of the company,” he stresses “It’s incredible how the owners and the former managers really worked very well in all these areas of governance So the company is doing very well in this area and is increasingly focused on sustainability.” Among its initiatives are solid programs for water re-use “We also generate our own energy for the distillery we have tree production programs and mainly the entire bottle re-use program – we are talking about more or less three million bottles per month that are re-used,” he says Companhia Müller de Bebidas has become more than a mere beverage producer – it has become a custodian of a national treasure And it’s a responsibility that José is taking very seriously The CEO Magazine is more than a business title; it’s a source of information inspiration and motivation for the world’s most successful leaders Learn all about The CEO Magazine at TheCEO.com The reporters talk about the “horrors that happened in the Aidar concentration camp” they only show footage of an abandoned factory location without any additional evidence The reader does indeed see an abandoned base or even torture devices – nothing that can be associated with a concentration camp The space doesn’t even look like a training base some burned metal beds are the only thing suggesting that the space may have been something other than industrial These stories are yet another example of staged productions intended to make the viewer believe in the myth of “Ukrainian Nazis,” who torment the Donbas population We explain why the stories about the “concentration camp” in Polovinkino cannot be true the Ukrainian Aidar battalion had its own “concentration camp” was allegedly equipped in the village of Polovinkino of the Luhansk region But what propagandists unequivocally call a concentration camp is actually the battalion’s training base which has been occupied by its members since the battalion’s founding in 2014 Ukrainian film crews went to the village of Polovinkino This also confirms that the training base is indeed located there Zamok and Buddy belonged deceased fighters of Aidar In total the battalion lost 13 of its volunteers in the battle.” The fact that Russian propagandists are filming stories at the Aidar base after Russian troops occupied Polovinkino is indicated by a number of visual matches with news stories filmed on the base earlier by Ukrainian media. Firstly, the main entrance gate to the training camp was shown by Hromadske TV in 2014. With slight changes, it is also featured in RT propagandist stories and thev  so-called People’s Militia of the Luhansk People’s Republic “The territory was equipped for torture chambers. Literally every meter here is steeped in cold, dampness and fear,” says Anton Mikuzhis the LPR’s People’s Militia Department so-called press officer But the premises shown in the propaganda stories partly served as living quarters for Aidar fighters and are not parts of some “secret prison” This can be seen from the similarity of one of the premises from the propaganda stories with the barracks of the fighters shown in the Ukrainian report Judging by the fact that now this room has been completely cleared two conclusions can be drawn: either Aidar fighters intentionally cleared the base during their retreat or the RT journalists themselves removed everything unrelated from the frame in order to stage the supposedly “concentration camp premises” The unlikelihood of any concentration camps existing in the village of Polovinkino is also indicated by the fact that the village is located close to the demarcation zone – it is only 65 km from there to the checkpoint in the town of Shchastya Following the logic of World War II concentration camp placement they should be located in hard-to-reach places away from the front and key transport interchanges The village of Polovinkino is quite the opposite it is located on the way to the occupied territories and in case of a successful offensive by Luhansk People’s Republic Russian gangs The Luhansk People’s Republic militia and the RIA Novosti stories feature several people who allegedly were “prisoners of the Aidar concentration camp” None of them show any disability or injury that could have been inflicted on them during their time at the alleged camp The video shows dirty basements with no signs of any human presence Russian propagandist stories claiming to show the viewer an abandoned concentration camp show nothing that actually can be  associated with a concentration the narrator constantly focuses on mutilations allegedly were committed by members of the battalion there “Prisoners were beaten and tortured, after which many did not survive. Presumably, they were buried next to the prison,” the RIA Novosti video claims But there are no graves and no specific data on any of the victims All the  alleged Aidar concentration camp prisoners free and free to comment in front of the camera A man named “Nikolai” says “Aidar members” stabbed him in the joint of his left arm.” Rather than describe his experience “concentration camp prisoner” Aleksey talks about “a girl who was dragged out by drunken Aidar members talks about how “an Aidar member” stole a tractor and a mower from him it would appear these are the things that happen in the concentration camp and secret prisons Presented as a forensic expert from the Starobilsk city hospital Dmitry Romanchuk reads for the video from a sheet of paper the list of “atrocities” committed by “Aidar” within the walls of his “concentration camp” How these alleged murders were carried out in the “secret concentration camp” and then documented by the Starobilsk branch of the Luhansk Regional Bureau of Forensic Medical Examination is not clear the Izvestia newspaper published a document claiming to confirm the large number of deaths that allegedly occurred within the walls of the “Aidar” concentration camp But this document has little resemblance to a forensic conclusion – it does not contain a description of the cause of death and the wording format “killed by the Aidar battalion” is not the kind of language normally used in forensic reports In another story a man named Ivan Maslov talks about the time he spent in the “concentration camp” Maslov says he was forcibly kept in the basement of one of the buildings his hands were chafed by the ties until bleeding” he talks excitedly about how other prisoners were tortured in the torture chamber and “beaten to death” How he managed to get out of such a “secret prison” remains unclear He does not provide any photo or video or any other evidence confirming his captivity pointss to the basement and says that is where “they beat people with rifle butts.” He says that “he sat in this hole for a month.” His release is also not explained in the story traces of writing “Glory to Ukraine” are visible on a wall it is unlikely that would have been written by a prisoner In another video report, Maria Finoshina of RT states that “many witnesses still prefer to remain silent.” Seemingly that is why the RT film crew was able to elicit a comment from only one local resident who says that her neighbor “systematically insulted her Such “atrocities” clearly don’t seem to be on the level of a concentration camp Additional commentary for the story was provided by Anna Soroka the so-called “Foreign Minister of the LPR” She talks about “foreign curators” who allegedly trained Aidar fighters The rest of the story is told by Maria Finoshina herself where every other word in her running commentary is “Nazis” and “murderers” You can read the magazine in one of the following languages You can read the global content or the content from your region That’s something that Guilherme Müller Filho understood in 1959 when he first produced Cachaça 51 in Pirassununga in the state of São Paulo marking the start of Companhia Müller de Bebidas Members get unlimited access to all our most valuable content long before the masses Exclusive access to newly released gear and tech and entrepreneur secrets delivered to your inbox monthly Fatherly Magazine Fatherly advice for the modern Canadian dad Female Fitness Magazine Canadian Female fitness and healthy living magazine Black Incorporated Magazine Empowering and Inspiring Canadian Black Executives and Entrepreneurs Another proud moment for Aidar was being named a Distinguished Kazakhstani Figure by President Nursultan Nazarbayev in 2013 for his professional achievements and contribution to classical music across the world This highest of awards in Kazakhstan is given to people who possess exceptional talent in their field The President noted Aidar’s priceless contribution to bringing millions of people to the classics and popularising symphonic music among the younger generations he has been the conductor at the Astana Opera State Opera and Ballet Theatre Aidar Abzhakhanov has put on a number of performances including the Nutcracker and Swan Lake (Tchaikovsky);
