Russia on Thursday claimed that its forces have taken control of another settlement in eastern Ukraine as Moscow continues to advance in the Donetsk region
Its forces have captured the village of Solone
about 12 kilometers (7.4 miles) southwest of Pokrovsk
which is a key front in Moscow's offensive in the eastern Donetsk region
according to a Russian Defense Ministry statement
Solone is also about 2.5 kilometers (1.5 miles) southwest of the village of Vovkove
which Russia claimed to have taken on Tuesday
Moscow has frequently claimed territorial gains in recent months
where fighting has intensified around Pokrovsk
The city serves as a critical logistics hub for Ukraine's military in the region
Ukrainian authorities have not yet commented on Russia's claim
and independent verification of the claim is difficult due to the ongoing war.

New York-based artist and composer Yang Bao is coming to Napa to premiere his new work “Sol One,”
Opus One Winery in Oakville will transform for an immersive sound experience Nov. 8 to premiere Yang Bao’s site-specific composition
“Sol One,” a work driven by his concept of “infinity music.”
Hosted by Opus One and Festival Napa Valley
the premiere is part of a statewide music festival
California Festival: A Celebration of New Music
3-19 festival is a musical initiative to showcase new artists through performances of works they’ve written in the last five years
classically trained in piano performance at The Juilliard School and New England Conservatory of Music
works that allow people to experience sound by using all of their senses
His concept of “infinity music” is demonstrated through sound with no beginning or end
and I always hoped to have something tangible after concerts,” he said
I work through it with imagining or feeling it as something that’s physical in terms of color
Bao said he was inspired by the grand vineyards’ beauty when visiting in June — and soon began composing
The piece represents the changing climate and imagines a world in which humans relocate to Mars
“Sol One” translates to “Martian Day One” and conveys what it feels like to land on another planet
and there’s these feelings of excitement but also homesickness and fear in another planet,” Bao said
“And in this imaginary world where earth is no longer habitable because of climate change
vice president of communications and guest relations at Opus One
said the winery is a major supporter of the arts
“Our founders Baron Philippe de Rothschild and Robert Mondavi were both very personally engaged and big supporters of the arts in general,” Barefoot said
A connection with arts and music has remained central to the company’s ethos
and the winery recently increased programs around supporting music
“In the sense that wine is a part of gracious living
food and art all combined to create what Mr
Mondavi used to call ‘the good life,’” he said
Opus One was a founding partner of Festival Napa Valley
and the two organizations joined this fall with California Festival to help showcase emerging artists
Bao was Festival Napa Valley’s 2023 Maria Manetti Shrem Daniel Brewbaker Composer Prizewinner; “Sol One” is a continuation of his previously awarded piece
Bao performed acoustical studies and took architectural drawings of the courtyard to anticipate optimal acoustics for background music at the premiere
And I know he has the talent to create something really
So I'm looking forward to it,” Barefoot said
A transparent tent will cover the Opus One courtyard
giving guests an impression of being outside
the walls may come down if the weather is nice
“The main idea is you’re going to be in this encapsulated space that makes you feel like you’re in open space in nature,” Barefoot said
“And the piano will be in the center in the round
Bao will be accompanied by Festival Orchestra Napa led by Ming Luke
The sound installation is part of a continuous practice for the artist
a concept of “infinity music” he describes as being able to experience music as a collective acoustic environment in infinite time
“Where you are able to walk into this soundscape with no start
end or particular order but rather just like walking into a national park where you’re able to experience multiple things
“We are able to experience a national park as a whole.”
Bao said his composition is intended to morph infinitely
“It’s meant to resemble the passing clouds
“We will not live the exact same moment twice.”
Bao translates the concept of infinity music through the physical art of sculptures
Bao’s goal is to help others connect with their surroundings and draw awareness to the vast nonhuman aspects of earth
He hopes his work can get people in touch with nature and themselves
“How do we relate to our surroundings better
The “Sol One” premiere is sold out; learn more about the artist online at yangbaostudio.com

Brazilian company Sol have built and flown the world’s first ever one-liner paraglider
The video above is proof that the ‘One’ actually flies
the pilot in the video looks fairly relaxed aboard the wing
It was conceived by Sol’s experienced research and development team
The team have spent years experimenting with the development and manufacturing limitations of paragliders
Previous experiments have included double top surfaces
various valves (in the top and bottom surfaces and in the leading edge)
they have built gliders using profiles from other aircraft
and have experimented with various materials and coatings
Sol say the One performs substantially better than a two-liner
and has impressive stability and no dive tendency
It can only be steered by using the stabilo lines to the wingtips and by weightshift
but it launches in the same way as any other paraglider

celebrities gathered in Los Angeles for the 75th annual Primetime Emmy Awards to celebrate the best of television
As is always the case, stars wore stylish outfits on the red carpet
embracing bold colors and daring silhouettes
Some of the night's best looks came from celebrity couples
many of whom wore coordinating or complementary looks
From matching suits to chic silhouettes, take a look at the best couple looks from the 2024 Emmys
Christian Siriano designed Ralph's form-fitting white gown
and double-breasted buttons adorning the waistline
The skirt hugged Ralph's figure before flaring out in a mermaid silhouette at the bottom
Hughes complemented his wife's look by wearing a white tuxedo jacket with a black bow tie and pants
The "Beef" creator paired a black suit with a black shirt and bow tie
He added a silver brooch to his shiny lapel to break up the monochrome look
as off-the-shoulder sleeves sat atop a structured
The Barkers, who welcomed their first child together in November, wore black suits to the Emmys, though they styled them differently.
Kardashian Barker didn't wear a shirt with her suit, pairing the fitted jacket with just a black bra. Her pants flared slightly, and she accessorized the look with black pumps and gloves. Barker took a somewhat more traditional approach to his suit, wearing it with a black shirt and bow tie.
They both wore black sunglasses with their looks, completing the coordinating moment.
Versace designed the burgundy gown Brosnahan wore to the Emmys, where she was nominated for her performance as Midge Maisel in "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel."
The gown's corset bodice had exposed boning, while the skirt featured folds that formed a thigh-high slit.
Ralph wore a black suit but put a fun twist on the classic look by wearing his shirt with the top button undone. He accessorized the suit with a chain necklace.
Nash-Betts chose a custom Greta Constantine gown for the awards show, where she won the Emmy for her portrayal of Glenda Cleveland in the Netflix series "Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story."
The off-the-shoulder gown had a sweetheart neckline, and the bodice and sleeves were made of velvet, while the mermaid skirt and a ruffle on the sleeves were made of a shinier material.
Wayman + Micah styled Nash-Betts, as well as her wife, who wore a black suit with a shiny tint to it. A pattern of little black designs covered the suit from head to toe.
Grayscale designed Richardson's suit for the Emmys, which consisted of an off-white jacket and black pants. The textured jacket had an asymmetrical collar, and he paired it with a high-neck black top. Tiffani Moreno styled the look.
Boyd selected a form-fitting black gown for the evening. It had long sleeves and a high neckline, but an angular cutout across the shoulder gave it a chic edge.
Styled by Wouri Vice, Rae's Pamella Roland gown was covered in feathers, giving shape to the sheath-style dress. The dress had a high neckline and subtle sparkly embellishments that blended into the feathers.
Her husband paired black pants with a maroon velvet tuxedo jacket and a black bow tie.
Zegna designed Lee's gray suit. It had no exposed buttons on the lapel, almost making it look inside out. The neckline of the mandarin collar also extended past the button, mimicking the jacket's shape.
Ryu's black dress had off-the-shoulder sleeves, and an overlay of black fabric sat atop the gown, allowing sheer fabric to flow over the neckline and past the hemline. Black, strappy heels completed the look.
Sharpe, who was nominated for his performance on "The White Lotus" at the Emmys, wore a double-breasted suit from Burberry with no shirt, drawing the eye to the simple necklace he wore.
Nafsika Skourti designed Di Martino's gown. The high-neck, long-sleeve gown had a dropped-waist skirt made of a contrasting fabric to the velvet bodice, giving it dimension despite the all-black look. A brooch on her neckline added to the elegant ensemble.

HOLIDAY rentals on the Costa del Sol have increased by 13 per cent in comparison to last summer
which has around 18,000 holiday homes on offer and rakes in around €2.2 million per year
has announced that the Costa del Sol is one of the locations that sees the highest increase in holiday rent prices from one summer to the next
To rent a holiday home for four people on the Costa del Sol for the first two weeks of August could reach €1.090 compared to last year’s average of €945
the average price for August rentals on the Costa Blanca is €972
€855 on the Costa de Almeria and €806 on the Costa Tropical
The Costa del Sol has been ranked as the third most expensive holiday destination
behind Costa Dorada and Costa de la Luz (ranked in first position)
The Spain-Holiday platform highlighted that the Costa del Sol is one of the most popular destinations among national and international tourists due to its ever-growing tourism sector and excellent climate and beaches
After a slight drop in the third quarter of last year
the price of housing has risen once again in Malaga province
the average price per square metre of a property for sale in the province including the Costa del Sol climbed to 2,412 euros
It is 1.2% more than the figure recorded at the end of 2023 and about the same figure as a year ago
when the valuer's studies showed an average price of 2,419 euros per square metre
The data shows that the 4% drop in the prices of property for sale in Malaga province in the third quarter of last year was a one-off event
rental prices continue to soar in both Malaga city and throughout the province
the average rental price at provincial level is 14.32 euros per square metre
which is 13.5% more than a year ago and 3.2% more than three months ago
the increase in rent is most noticeable in Malaga city
where the average cost has risen to 14.41 euros per square metre
the average price of housing for sale stands at 2,374 euros per square metre
which is 8% more than in the first quarter of 2023 and 2.5% more than in last year's year-end report
Gesvalt's regional director for Andalucía and Extremadura
house prices in Malaga are set to continue "the upward trend of recent months
but at a more moderate pace than in recent years
after the slight slump in demand caused by successive interest rate increases and a general economic slowdown"
and with the prospect of upcoming interest rate cuts
demand has once again been reactivated in a market that remains under pressure
Malaga is one of the most active real estate markets in Spain
both national and international is very active
despite the efforts of the city council and the great developer activity
"All these factors lead us to believe that there will not be a change in trend in the coming months and it is not possible to foresee when price rises will slow," he said
Abril pointed out that this is a "more common issue than that of buying and selling"
"While supply is more limited than for sales
there is a transfer of demand from the sales to the rental market
due to the number of house-hunters who are unable to afford to buy a home at current prices and decide to opt for renting
Our forecast is that the current trend will continue over the next few years," he added
Marbella continues to lead in rental prices with an average of 18.8 euros per square metre
Also noteworthy is the rise in rent in towns such as Torremolinos and Benalmádena
possibly due to the increase of prices in Malaga city leading to a rise in demand for rentals in these neighbouring towns
rent has risen to 14.6 euros per square metre and is now at the same level as Estepona
At the other end of the scale Vélez-Málaga offers rents at half of the average registered on the Costa del Sol
with prices around 7.5 euros per square metre
