Club Photographer Ian Morsman was at training this morning to get some snaps of the lads in action It was great to see Ollie Harfield and Ryan Jones at training in their crutches as Ollie Harfield has just had his fifth operation since a horrific knee injury back at the start of the season On his personal X account he said “Operation #5 completed yesterday and back in with the boys today positive news and another step closer ⏳” Get the latest news from the Shots delivered for FREE to your inbox © Copyright 2025 Aldershot Town Football Club Aldershot Town signed off their Vanarama National League season in style on Monday afternoon coming out 2-1 winners against Yeovil Town on the final matchday of the domestic campaign Goals from Jack Barham and Tyler Frost either side of the half was enough to claim all three points at the EBB Stadium taking winning form into Sunday’s FA Trophy final Tommy Widdrington’s final starting lineup of the league season was a strong one making just one change from last week’s defeat at Barnet Cameron Hargeaves coming in for Dejan Tetek After a carefully observed minutes silence the match kicked off under temperamental weather conditions It didn’t take long for the Shots to forge a strong chance as James Henry’s defense-splitting first time pass found Tyler Frost in behind the Glovers’ back-line The wing-back charged into the penalty area with Jack Barham in support though his eventual squared ball didn’t have enough on it allowing Jacob Wannell to make a crucial interception at the back his sliding clearance propping the ball up safely into the hands of the visiting keeper The Yeovil attack would first make themselves known towards the quarter-hour mark as nifty work on the right wing from Lewys Twamley allowed the winger cut inside before playing a one-two with Sonny Lo-Everton that opened up a shooting opportunity 18-yards from goal though his side-footed effort sailed just wide of the left-hand post forging two more superb chances in quick succession the result of a further one-two inside the penalty area before just moments after a searching long-pass saw McGuckin get a toe past an onrushing Marcus Dewhurst with the eventual strike hitting to side-netting The Shots were almost gifted an opening goal after a combination of defensive uncertainty and tenacious pressing saw Jacob Wannell’s clearance deflect off the boot of Jack Barham on the edge of the area the ball looked to be trickling into the bottom-right corner the keeper got a fingertip to it in the nick of time pushing away for a corner and saving the Glovers’ blushes a towering header from Luca Woodhouse sailed just wide There was a significant pause in play as Cameron Hargreaves required treatment after a sinister challenge in the middle of the park visibly displeased at his inability to continue he was replaced by Dejan Tetek on the half-hour mark It would be the first-half substitute who would eventually pick the lock the Serb’s long-ball from deep inside his own half allowed Jack Barham to receive the ball on the half-turn just in front of the half-way line the forward finally pulled the trigger on the edge of the box and despite Aidan Stone getting a hand to it Shots would start the second period just as dominantly as they ended the first Dejan Tetek’s driving run through the middle created an opening for the hosts the substitute slotted an ambitious through-pass to Barham in the box though the interception saw the ball slide into the path of the late-arriving Tyler Frost who calmly poked the ball home to double the lead The Glovers would find their way onto the scoresheet as a Sonny Lo-Everton cross looped over Marcus Dewhurst an towards the back post with Dominic Bernard and Tyler Frost contesting for a header While Bernard was initially accredited with the goal body language would suggest that Frost had now scored for each side in quick succession Josh Barrett almost made a late addition to his stunning catalogue of league goals After neat work from Aaron Jones twisted and turned the members of Yeovil’s left flank who took one touch before floating a chipped effort goalward from fully 30-yards the ball fell mere centimeters wide of the post A burst of pace from Yeovil’s Kyrell Wilson allowed him to break down the right wing and into the penalty area though was foiled by a magnificent recovery challenge from Tyler Frost The remainder of the match bore few chances and with all in red and blue with one eye on Sunday’s final the Shots calmly consolidated a lead that saw them leapfrog their opponents for a final league placement of 16th Hampshire Police are appealing for witnesses after a serious assault in Aldershot at the weekend. were enough to give the Shots the three points in front of a crowd of 3,089 at the EBB Stadium ahead of Sunday’s trip to Wembley Stadium for the FA Trophy final The hosts started the game on the front foot and nearly fashioned a good chance in the fifth minute but Josh Barrett’s dink into the box was just over the head of Barham The Shots then produced a free-flowing move two minutes later who played a neat through ball to Frost on the left wing Frost looked to pick out Barham in the middle of the box but his cutback was cut out by the recovering Jacob Wannell The Glovers created their first chance of the afternoon in the 17th minute when Lewis Twamley played a one-two with Sonny-Lo Everton before curling his right-foot shot just wide of the far left-hand post The visitors should have taken the lead a minute later when Harry Kite’s excellent through ball picked out Ciaran McGuckin who put his first-time finish wide of the far post when he only had Shots keeper Marcus Dewhurst to beat McGuckin had another good chance on 19 minutes when he got on the end of a ball over the top and knocked the ball past the advancing Dewhurst but McGuckin was forced wide and could only fire his effort into the side netting from a tight angle The Shots nearly took the lead in bizarre circumstances in the 22nd minute when Barham caught Wannell in possession and the ball flew towards the net but Glovers keeper Aidan Stone managed to claw the ball away for a corner just before it crossed the line The resulting corner picked out Luca Woodhouse who put his header wide of the right-hand post The Shots were forced into an early change on 37 minutes when Cameron Hargreaves limped off and was replaced by Dejan Tetek The hosts took the lead two minutes later when Barham got on the end of Dan Ellison’s ball down the left-hand channel and spun his marker before racing through on goal and firing his shot into the far right-hand corner of the net Stone got two strong hands to Barham’s effort but the shot had too much power for the Yeovil keeper The Shots nearly doubled their advantage when a quick short corner was played to Frost who picked out Henry in a promising position in the box but Henry was unable to make a clean contact with the ball when well placed The Glovers had a good chance to get back on level terms in first-half stoppage time when Charlie Cooper’s cross found Dominic Bernard in the box but Bernard put his free header over the bar The hosts were quick out of the traps at the start of the second half and doubled their advantage in the 49th minute and although his intended pass was cut out the ball broke kindly for Frost who drilled his first-time finish past Stone and into the back of the net The Shots could have scored a third on 55 minutes when they won a free kick just outside the box but Barrett curled his effort just over the bar The Glovers got themselves back in the game five minutes later when Frankie Terry’s good ball in from the left was flicked in by Bernard from close range Shots boss Tommy Widdrington made his second change of the afternoon in the 66th minute Widdrington made another change three minutes later Barrett then nearly scored a spectacular goal for the Shots on 71 minutes when his cheeky chip drifted just wide of the far left-hand post Yeovil nearly got themselves back on level terms in the 77th minute when Finn Cousin-Dawson drove forward and fired his shot from the just outside the box just over the bar Widdrington made his fourth change of the afternoon a minute later The Shots made their final change on 86 minutes when Ollie Bray replaced the booked Theo Widdrington The hosts nearly went 3-1 up in stoppage time when Frost drove forward but his shot from the edge of the box went wide of the left-hand post The Glovers then almost equalised in the sixth minute of stoppage time when Brett McGavin’s free kick was superbly parried away by Dewhurst The Shots saw out the last few seconds to sign off their league campaign with a welcome three points and finish in 16th place in the National League Next up for the Shots is the club’s first-ever trip to Wembley Stadium to face National side are finishing the season in style with Yeovil Town picking up seven points in their last six matches Last time out Yeovil went down to a 2-1 defeat in their final home game of the season against Sutton United Aldershot were defeated 4-0 at champions Barnet a result which secured the title for the Bees The Shots have not picked up a win since they clinched a place in the FA Trophy final Four defeats in their last five matches have seen them ship 17 goals Conceding goals has been their issue this season They have let in 82 goals in their 45 games and only the division’s bottom two Ebbsfleet United (96) and AFC Fylde (82) have let in as many Aldershot will be without a key  player in full-back Ryan Jones who suffered a broken leg in the 3-0 defeat at local rivals Woking on Easter Monday The former Bristol Rovers youngster has been a stand out performer for them this season The form of the summer signing in the second half of the season has been largely overlooked but he has impressed stepping forward in to midfield His aerial ability and calmness on the ball has been important as he has both filled the voids left by injuries to first choice central defenders Morgan Williams and Jake Wannell He’s also a player who remains under contract for next season having signed a two-year deal when he arrived from Bradford City in the summer James Henry tries to find a way past Ollie Wright in the 1-1 draw at Huish Park in September James Henry should be slowing down but the former Millwall player has proved vital for Aldershot since joining last summer He has contributed 15 goals this season playing mostly in a wide position just one goal behind top scorer Josh Barrett who will be another one to watch But Henry’s consistency and experience has added even more for our hosts on Bank Holiday Monday.  You may have heard that Aldershot Town are in the FA Trophy final with Spennymoor United their opponents six days after they take on Yeovil But Glovers’ boss Mark Cooper is under no illusions that Aldershot will be taking it easy with a trip to Wembley next weekend Speaking ahead of the Bank Holiday fixture, he told BBC Somerset reporter Jack Killah: “I think they will be full strength and trying to get a bit of form going in to the final and they will want to get this sorted on Monday I do not buy in to talk about that they will rest players people told me that about Sutton United (before the 2-1 home defeat at Huish Park last time out) because they had (the National League Cup) final the following Tuesday and none of that happened you have to be up for it because otherwise you will get beaten.” Aldershot assistant manager Hugo Langton stepped in front of the camera following the 4-0 defeat at champions Barnet in their last match and admitted his side had not been good enough recently He said: “We can’t hide the fact we have not been on a great run lately We have got nine games until the next game so we have a good week ahead of us and sometimes we have to be brutally honest with each other “The things that have been disappointing recently They are things we have been working on and we just have to work harder at it and that is what we will do.” This is the tenth meeting between Yeovil Town and Aldershot Town and the previous nine results have ended in three wins The last two meetings have ended up in 1-1 draws with Ciaran McGuckin levelling after Josh Barrett’s opener at Huish Park in this season’s reverse fixture at the end of September Last time we met at The Recreation Ground was on Yeovil’s way out of the It was a difficult afternoon for Aldershot Town at the Hive Stadium on Saturday afternoon as the visitors were second best against a Barnet side that secured Football League promotion In their final away game of the league season Tommy Widdrington made a series of changes to the eleven that begun their Easter Monday clash with Woking Barnet predictably piled pressure from the off after an Anthony Hartigan free-kick deflected inches wide of Marcus Dewhurst’s right-hand post The resulting corner saw a point-blank header from Danny Collinge blocked well Dan Ellison was adjudged to have fouled his marker Mark Shelton stepped up to take the spot kick confidently placing it into the bottom right corner to rapturous cheers from the home support who had secured the early opener they had been hoping for The Bee’s almost doubled their lead shortly after with Shelton marauding down the left hand side of the penalty area before fizzing a testing low-ball into the danger-zone were not without chances of their own in the opening portion of the match Josh Barrett struck a venomous half-volley on the edge of the area The resulting corner saw Theo Widdrington unlucky not to score having jumped highest for a close-range header Barnet striker Callum Stead carried the ball aggressively towards the 18-yard-box before unleashing a powerful low strike only the post came to Aldershot’s rescue A further refereeing decision went the way of the hosts towards the 20-minute mark Will Armitage was purported to have pulled the shirt of his marker and another penalty for the league leaders the midfielder nestled the ball into the left side-netting to score again Lee Ndlovu produced a couple of chances towards the half-hour mark followed by an assured standing tackle from Ellison Shots’ best move of the half came shortly before the whistle Dejan Tetek’s tackle-cum-interception allowed the Serb to begin a counter attack With Barnet’s back-line retreating quickly a lofted through-ball to Josh Barret was distributed quickly to Jack Barham whose left-footed strike was saved by Evans at the near-post the Bees would take advantage of their first opening of the half Rhys Browne found Mark Shelton in a central position 25-yards from goal on a hattrick let fly with a right-footed effort leaving the onrushing Callum Stead to tap the ball home for a Barnet third the Shots successfully managed to quell the onslaught The game devolved into being contested largely in the middle of the park Aaron Jones became the third Shots player to go into the referee’s book shortly after the 70th-minute mark An unfortunate turn into the path of Calum Stead saw a lengthy stoppage in play eventually leading in the forward being bandaged and substituted the happenings around the ground became more interesting than on the field As Barnet supporters waited patiently to rush the pitch Dean Brennan has steered Barnet back to the EFL after hammering Aldershot Barnet have been promoted back to League Two after seven seasons of non-league football following a comfortable 4-0 win over Aldershot Town The Bees' victory secured the National League title with a game to spare and they will try to break the 100-point barrier at Fylde on the final day of the season Two first-half penalties from Mark Shelton put the hosts in control at The Hive before two goals in four minutes from Callum Stead after the break got the promotion party in full swing Dean Brennan's side secured automatic promotion after play-off heartbreak denied them following fifth and second-placed finishes in the previous two seasons They have led the way at the top of the table for much of the season pulling away from nearest contenders York City and Forest Green Rovers A run of nine consecutive wins from February to March opened up a commanding lead at the top for Brennan's side who have only lost once in the league in 2025 It's been a long way back to the EFL for Barnet since their relegation from League Two in 2018 The Bees ended a miserable season on a high that day with a 3-0 win over Chesterfield but the worst was yet to come for the north London club Underwhelming mid-table finishes in their first two seasons back in non-league were followed by their lowest finish since the formation of the National League [initially the Alliance Premier Football League and then the Football Conference] in 1979 The disruption of the Covid-19 pandemic was all that saved the Bees from dropping down to the National League South in 2020-21 as they finished second from bottom in the table But things would improve from there on as Brennan arrived at the club and he has since overseen steady progress – 18th Twice denied at home in the play-offs in the previous two seasons first against so many of your stories about what this means to everyone connected with the Club Your support yesterday was loud and proud and undoubtedly helped the players push on and to see the EBB Stadium sold out with the second-highest attendance since the Club reformed in 1992 was truly special We must unfortunately condemn the action of a very small minority of individuals who did their best to blight a joyous occasion with idiotic actions that are now being dealt with by the police with the full co-operation of the Club – they will not be welcome back vast majority were superb and with the season far from over we want to see as many of you as possible returning to the EBB Stadium for our three remaining home games starting with Tuesday night’s clash against Boston United It was also fantastic to see the town of Aldershot bustling both before and after the game Local pubs were drunk dry and local restaurants and shops bloomed with custom: Your support at our games is not just beneficial to the Club but to the town and our local community as a whole It’s befitting that as Aldershot – known as the home of the British Army – will make it’s way to Wembley on May that week will also mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day and the end of fighting in Europe in the Second World War we pride ourselves on our relationship with the Armed Forces and will look to commemorate the occasion at the home high to the middle of the goal Marcus Dewhurst making a fine save to push it out for a corner An understandably cagey start saw very little goal-mouth action the Shots showed signs of growing into the game with pinpoint long-passing from Dan Ellison among others and threatening link up play from Jones’ Aaron and Ryan The latter found himself in on goal after a defensive error though a crucial recovery tackle from Timi Odusina saved the Cards’ blushes A clash of heads between Aaron Jones and Lewis Walker saw a brief stoppage in play former shot Inih Effiong produced a heart-in-mouth moment for the East Bank as he met a cross from right with a speculative backheeled volley Aldershot were presented with a golden opportunity to open the scoring just after the half-hour mark Cameron Hargreaves’ pass near the edge of the box was intercepted but miscontrolled by Dale Gorman allowing Josh Barrett to pounce upon the loose ball The forward drove into the box a struck across goal with a powerful left-footed effort and while Will Jaaskelainen got down well to save Having recently scored from the spot against Ebbsfleet Woking’s Finnish keeper continued his cup heroics but had little to show for it other than audacious bicycle kick attempt from Josh Barrett on the edge of the area an altercation in the Aldershot box between Theo Widdrington and Harry Beautyman saw Woking’s number seven shown a red card While the nature of the offence was unclear to most Widdrington’s obvious discomfort suggested a cheap shot from the Cards’ number seven this seemingly spurred on both the travelling support and squad Jamie Andrews played a high-arching cross from right to the back-post which met the head of Lewis Walker to put the visitors into a surprise lead Ryan Jones produced a typical charge into the left of the opposition box His squared ball zipped into a threatening area but agonisingly failed to find any red and blue shirt a combination of strength and technique allowed Effiong to jink through the back line though his shot sailed well wide of Marcus Dewhurst’s goal good work in possession from Widdrington allowed him to tee up midfield partner Cameron Hargreaves for a shot 25-yards from goal but deflected off of a Woking hand just as it entered the area After severe remonstration from the East Bank the referee pointed to the spot once for the second time in the match and forced a significant waiting period before the kick could take place though the experienced Henry was not to be perturbed striking true into the top-right corner to level the scoring as relentless pressure from the hosts followed Strikes from Josh Barrett and James Henry failed to beat the low block though the Shots were finally letting their man-advantage tell though the Bolton-born keeper held it well Will Armitage thought he might have scored the all-important winner after he leapt highest to Ryan Jones’ corner though the powerful nod went just over the Woking net Ryan Jones yet again tore down the left hand side against a tired looking Woking back-line His floating cross seemingly took years to come back down it found the head of the incoming Jack Barham who nodded home to score THE Aldershot Town goal We’re pleased to confirm that the Club has triggered an option on Cameron Hargreaves’ contract extending his stay with the Shots until the summer of 2026 Hargreaves joined the Shots ahead of the 24/25 season and has already made 52 appearances for the Shots before the end of his first season The midfielder has also chipped in with five goals as he’s quickly become a key part of Tommy Widdrington’s side Hargreaves said: “Really enjoyed my first season with the Shots and I’m delighted to be staying on.” “The support this year—both for me personally and the team—has been amazing “Looking forward to finishing the season strong and Tommy Widdrington added: “Cameron is a lad I also worked with before I came to Aldershot and knew he’d fit in seamlessly so was delighted to capture his signature last summer.” “His all round game in the heart of the engine room has been excellent and he fits well indeed compliments those around him.” “To know he’ll be part of the growing group committed for another season at least is excellent news for us at Aldershot Town.” The Shots fell to a 3-0 defeat to Woking at the Laithwaite Community Stadium as a brace from Tariq Hinds added to Dan Moss’ goal to seal the win within the first 20 minutes Woking opened the scoring after just three minutes A long throw put pressure on the Shots defence and thought they half-cleared their lines the ball was redelivered to the far-post and fell to Tariq Hinds who had time to take a touch and curl an effort into the bottom corner Ryan Jones saw an effort from outside the box deflected just past the post as a quick free-kick saw the Shots have their first sight at goal in the sixth minute but in the 10th minute it could have been two for Woking as Aaron Jones superbly blocked Lewis Walker’s effort from point-blank as the Woking striker fired the rebound over the bar Kwame Thomas’ header down for Hady Ghandour two minutes later saw the Aldershot striking partnership linking up well but Ghandour’s effort was high and wide and just a minute later than that Lewis Walker saw his effort blocked but the ball fell to Dan Moss who bundled the ball toward goal on the rebound and it bounced over Marcus Dewhurst and into the back of the net Woking had scored a third as Hinds scored his second Adam Chicksen’s delivery to the far-post found Hinds to turn it in Thomas made a significant contribution at the opposite end as he was on hand to make another goal-line block and as the first-half entered stoppage-time Dewhurst made a brilliant intervention rushing out to deny Aiden O’Brien Aldershot did start the second-half with a lot more conviction as they found some joy down their left especially through Tyler Frost in the first few minutes from the restart Ryan Jones’ through ball to Frost played him down the left-wing and he delivered a dangerous low-cross that was cleared with Hady Ghandour waiting in the middle Popping up on the other side a couple of minutes later A minute later from that the Shots broke again down the left as Frost drove towards the left he got held up by the Woking defence but found Ghandour with a backheel but the Shots striker’s powerful shot was over the bar Jack Barham was brought on in the 56th minute and just a minute later he was instantly introduced to the action breaking down the right but his low cross was gathered by Will Jaaskelainen there was controversy when Dan Moss who had already been booked violently took out Ryan Jones who ended up having to be stretchered off but Referee Aaron Farmer didn’t even give a free-kick and instead booked both Jack Barham and Marcus Dewhurst for their protests But the Shots couldn’t threaten Jaaskelainen’s goal in the time remaining as Woking were happy to sit on their lead and it was the home side who took the three points Development & Support by Akiko Design.
