The investment represents a significant vote of confidence in the Robins' potential
Altrincham Football Club has secured a significant new round of equity investment worth £1.45m as the club continues its pursuit of promotion to the Football League
The investment comes at a crucial time for the Robins
who endured a disappointing end to their National League campaign
with hopes of reaching the play-offs definitively dashed following last weekend's 6-1 defeat at Dagenham & Redbridge
The lead investors in this latest funding round are Simon and Michelle Orange
who are already well-established on the North West sporting landscape as the majority owners of Sale Sharks Rugby Club
The investment represents a significant vote of confidence in Altrincham's potential despite their recent on-field struggles
"As local and passionate sports fans we are hugely excited to be getting involved with Alty alongside the rest of the investors," said Michelle Orange
"We share the Board's passion for great community sport and look forward to achieving meaningful success on and off the pitch."
who recently sold his Altrincham-based investment firm Corpacq in a deal reported to be worth more than £1 billion
brings considerable business acumen to complement the sporting ambitions of the club
The majority of the £1.45m investment has come from local businesspeople
The conclusion of the fundraising has coincided with the departure of co-chairman Lawrence Looney
who has decided to step down after seven years on the board
the Robins transformed from a semi-professional outfit in the Northern Premier League - following consecutive relegations - to a full-time professional club achieving back-to-back top-half finishes in the National League
Bill Waterson will take on the role of chairman as the club undertakes a strategic review with its Board and major investors
existing shareholder Mark Luby will be rejoining the board in an executive capacity after participating in this investment round
The new investment arrives after a National League season that promised much but ultimately delivered disappointment for Altrincham supporters
But the substantial investment and structural changes signal a renewed determination to achieve the club's long-standing ambition of securing promotion to the Football League

Altrincham Football Club has today announced a new round of equity investment as we continue to pursue our goal of promotion to the EFL
The investment of £1.45m comes from a combination of existing and new investors with the vast majority arriving from local businesspeople
The lead investors in this round are Simon and Michelle Orange
the majority owners of Sale Sharks Rugby Club
Michelle Orange commented: “As local and passionate sports fans we are hugely excited to be getting involved with Alty alongside the rest of the investors and share the Board’s passion for great community sport and look forward to achieving meaningful success on and off the pitch."
Lawrence Looney has decided to step down from the Altrincham Football Club board
Lawrence has served on the board for seven years
In the immediate future Bill Waterson will take on the role of Chairman as the club undertakes a strategic review with its Board and the major investors
will be rejoining the board in an executive capacity
The club has changed beyond recognition during Lawrence’s tenure and the Board would like to extend its sincere thanks to him for his outstanding contribution
the club was operating on a semi-professional basis in the Northern Premier League
Alty are now a full-time club and have posted back-to-back top half finishes in the National League
perhaps the most significant strategic initiative in the club’s history
as he outlined at his very first board meeting at the club
Lawrence said: “This is a bittersweet moment for me as I say goodbye to the club that I have absolutely loved being Co-Chair
I am confident that the club is in a great position to finally achieve Football League status
I always wanted to leave the club in a much better place than when I joined and I feel this is the perfect time with the new investment and investors on board for me to move on."
Bill Waterson added: “On behalf of all at the club and from me personally I would like tothank Lawrence for all he has done for Altrincham FC
From day one he has been an incredible driving force for this club
and it has been a real pleasure working with him
What has been achieved is incredible by any measure and
although there is still plenty of work to be done
the club is well set up to continue to pursue promotion to the Football League.”

He had operated in the town between 2009 and 2023
A man who once ran a tattoo studio in Altrincham town centre has been banned from carrying out any tattooing work across Greater Manchester
a tattoo parlour on Regent Road that operated in the town for over a decade
But after shutting down the Altrincham studio
McCabe continued offering tattoos – this time illegally
and without a licence – by advertising his services on social media and carrying out appointments in customers’ homes
He also offered unlicensed training in tattooing
leading many to believe his business was properly regulated
Trafford Council has successfully obtained an injunction at Manchester County Court preventing McCabe from operating anywhere in Greater Manchester
Environmental health officers had previously visited Liquid Ink on multiple occasions
identifying hygiene issues with cleaning and sterilisation of equipment
Trafford Council said that McCabe had been obstructive during enforcement action
making it difficult for them to ensure improvements were made
Once his Altrincham premises closed in 2023
McCabe was no longer legally allowed to tattoo
the council received complaints that he was still working as an unregistered tattooist – this time going mobile and visiting people in their homes
the court agreed there was a risk to public safety
Tattooing without proper hygiene measures can lead to serious complications
including blood-borne illnesses such as hepatitis and severe allergic reactions
Trafford Council’s Director of Public Health
said: “We are pleased that this injunction has been granted to protect Trafford people from potentially harmful treatments
Anyone thinking about having a tattoo should check their tattooist is registered with their local authority.”
Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Communities and Safety
added: “Healthy and independent lives for everyone is a Council priority and this is just one example of how our environmental health colleagues are working hard to keep those seeking tattoos in the borough safe and well.”
An e-cigarette shop in Altrincham town centre has been closed down following intervention from local authorities
was served with a closure order on March 20th by Manchester Magistrates' Court under the Anti-Social Behaviour
which will remain in effect until June 19th
was requested by Trafford Council following serious concerns about the shop's operations and its impact on the local community
the premises was found to be associated with "disorderly
offensive or criminal behaviour" and had caused "serious nuisance to members of the public"
The court was also satisfied that disorder had occurred near the premises in connection with the business
The closure order prohibits access to the shop by all persons except officers from Trafford Council
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and North West Ambulance Service
Anyone who enters the premises without reasonable excuse during the closure period could face imprisonment for up to 51 weeks
stating: "Several residents had made me aware of serious issues with Altrincham E-Cigs
so I'm grateful that Greater Manchester Police and Trafford Council have worked in partnership to take swift action to close it down
"This business was operating illegally and irresponsibly in selling to minors and has no place in our local community."
The three-month closure will give authorities time to address the issues associated with the premises and determine appropriate next steps for the location
Alty round off the 2024/25 National League with a Bank Holiday Monday clash with Tamworth at the J
our hopes of achieving a Vanarama National League top seven finish ended last weekend at Dagenham
Tamworth’s season has been most recognised for their exceptional run in the Emirates FA Cup
but their league form since the turn of the year has also been impressive
the Lambs have won seven of their 11 league games
and that’s really helpful when you’re trying to move forward
rather than people trying to be divisive and push in different directions
“Today [the day of the Dagenham defeat] was about the result
and it was a really negative one for the football club
but there shouldn’t be a bad feeling around the football club because it’s in a really strong position.”
September 2024 – Alty picked up all three points the last time the two sides met at The Lamb Ground earlier in 2024/25
Second-half goals from Alex Newby and Justin Amaluzor gave Alty a healthy lead
before a Tom Crawford red card added some jeopardy
Dan Creaney pulled one back for Tamworth in added time
but the Robins left Tamworth with a 2-1 win

Altrincham will return to familiar territory this summer after accepting an invitation to take part in the prestigious weekend-long Isle of Man Festival of Football in Douglas
Alty's build-up to the 2025-26 season will already be well underway when they head across the Irish Sea in the second half of July
and it will be given a competitive edge as they battle it out with three other teams to be tournament winners
The Robins will launch proceedings against Radcliffe at 3pm on Friday July 18th
with the second semi-final following at 7pm the same day between hosts FC Isle of Man and League Two Fleetwood Town
a third-placed play-off will kick-off at 11am as a precursor to the final at 3pm
modern 3,350-capacity home stadium in Douglas
The prospect of heading to the island again will appeal strongly to everyone connected with Alty - players
officials and supporters - after such a good time was had by all last time we visited in July 2022 for a one-off pre-season friendly against FC Isle of Man
Jordan Hulme fired us into an early lead as we ran out 5-1 winners
Elliot Osborne and Marcus Dinanga also on the scoresheet
in a twist that will add an extra layer of interest and intrigue for Robins fans
one of the biggest crowd favourites we've had at Alty in recent times
could be lining up against us in the tournament opener
goalscoring number nine in his Alty days under Phil Parkinson
skippered Radcliffe at Oxford City in the Vanarama National League North last Saturday
while another popular ex-Robin Josh Hancock went on from the bench as their side lost 1-0
Let's hope both are on the boat when the Boro sail into Douglas harbour this July
With former Chester managerial duo Bernard Morley and Anthony Johnson in charge at Radcliffe
it is sure to be a highly-competitive 90 minutes
with more of the the same in our second match two days later
and Phil Parkinson is relishing the chance to renew acquaintances in the Isle of Man capital
"We're really looking forward to going back to the Isle Of Man again as part of our preparations for the 2025-26 season," said the Alty boss
"We enjoyed our time there in the summer of 2022
training and playing against FC Isle of Man
The facilities are really good and getting the players away together for a weekend during pre-season is always beneficial for team bonding."
Alty Co-Chairman Lawrence Looney is both pleased and proud to see the Robins playing such a prominent part in one of the highlights of the island's sporting calendar
I am delighted that we will once again be showcasing our talented squad for football fans on the island," said Lawrence
"It's an even more exciting prospect this time
with two semi-finals on the Friday and a third-place play-off and final on the Sunday
"The Festival was a great success on its launch last summer
and there's every reason for anticipating the same again this year
I know how much our fans enjoyed our last visit to the island three years ago
and we're all hoping they will travel in even greater numbers for what promises to be a memorable weekend this July."
Co-Chairman Bill Waterson added: "We really enjoyed our visit in 2022 and we're looking forward to it once again
It's a great short summer trip for everyone connected with the club."
Tickets for the tournament can be bought by clicking on the link here, while ferries to Douglas (and weekend packages) can be booked by contracting the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company

Altrincham FC is actively expanding the profile of the women’s football team
Having previously been part of Altrincham FC Community Sports
the women’s team is now moving under the umbrella of the football club
Duncan Jones has been appointed as Head of Women’s Football and will be overseeing the development and evolution of Altrincham FC Women
Duncan has been involved with both Altrincham FC Juniors and the women’s first team for many years and is currently managing the women’s first team through one of its most successful seasons, having finished 3rd in The Cheshire Women’s & Youth Football League, Premier Division & progressed to the League Challenge Cup semi-final
"There has never been a better time to support the growth and opportunities within the women's game," said CEO Sam Mackenzie
"What does football look like for young girls and women in the Altrincham area with Altrincham Football Club
It's joining us at age three and playing right the way through our juniors and into the women's first team
and in particular Duncan and Marjorie Murphy to deliver an outstanding pathway
I thank Altrincham FC Community Sports for all the hard work that has gone into our women's section to date
Duncan (pictured above) is tasked with implementing the Alty vision for the women’s team
Altrincham FC Juniors already have the largest girls football setup in the North West and are widely regarded as a role model club for promoting girls’ football and talent development, which will provide significant player-pathway opportunities to support the progression ofAltrincham FC Women
"I am really looking forward to pushing the Altrincham FC Women's programme to the next level," Duncan said
"This club deserves to be one of the very best
I have no doubt with the support and enthusiasm that has been shown by all sides of the club
the backroom staff and the players we can achieve amazing things."
The changes underway will ensure that the team is competitive now
and the talent pipeline is open for future Robins
Altrincham FC is already one of the most respected men’s football clubs in the region and this plan is designed to create a future for Altrincham FC Women to be an important player in the development of one of the fastest growing sports on the planet
Phil Parkinson has made a double breakthrough in the loan market to bolster Altrincham's squad for the final weeks of the Robins' quest for a place in the Vanarama National League promotion play-offs
With a tough run of fixtures throughout April and into May
the Alty boss is delighted to have secured the services of Fleetwood Town midfielder Callum Dolan and Blackburn Rovers full-back Brandon Powell for the remainder of the campaign
In a further boost to our prospects of reaching the play-offs for a second successive time
there has also been an encouraging update on Alty's injury list
Rob Lainton and James Jones all likely to be back in action at some point in April
a ready-made replacement for recalled Preston North End left-back Kacper Pasiek
who had a brief spell at The J.Davidson Stadium prior to earning a professional contract at Oldham Athletic
have signed in time for tomorrow's trip to Ebbsfleet United
and Phil is backing both players to make a positive impact in the closing weeks of a season that could run until Sunday June 1st
should we qualify for the play-offs and make it all the way to the final at Wembley
"Callum is a really exciting player who will flourish in Alty colours," he said
"He is a player who will get our fans on the edge of their seats - he's a real goalscoring
"He's someone we have worked with previously
but we now have a fantastic opportunity to bring him back to the football club
and I'm hoping he will give us that extra bit of quality and strength in depth we need to get to the play-offs
we feel we have a like-for-like replacement in Brandon
but he is extremely pacey and has great technique
we feel we have great strength in depth in that area now."
made four appearances for the Robins in 2019 before signing a professional contract at Boundary Park
A remarkable spell with Warrington Rylands
where he underlined his goal threat as an attacking midfielder by scoring 21 times in 50 appearances
brought him a move to League One Fleetwood on a two-and-a-half year deal for an undisclosed fee in January 2023
In between clocking up 17 appearances for Fleetwood
he had a highly-successful temporary stay with Torquay United last season and spent the first half of the current campaign on loan at Oldham
Brandon hails from Huddersfield and played the full 90 minutes alongside fellow-Rovers loanee Charlie Olson for Blackburn under-21s in their National League Cup tie with Alty at The J.Davidson Stadium last October
He had a couple of months on loan at Chorley at the end of last year
with Magpies manager Andy Preece praising his contribution by saying: "He has done fantastic for us
a great lad with a great future ahead of him."
been ruled out for the remainder of the season with a knee problem
Jake and Rob (both shoulder) should all return to the fray during the course of April
We look forward to seeing them all back in action
we would like to wish Callum and Brandon every success in their time with us at The J.Davidson Stadium
A Regan Linney brace helped Altrincham defeat a 10-man Shaymen
made it 0-3 to the Robins after Lewis Leigh saw red
Town picked up an important victory at AFC Fylde; a Ryan Galvin goal separated the sides and made it 1-0 at Mill Lane
sat in 9th place at the start of the day with an outside chance of making the playoffs
The Robins were without a win in four games and had only picked up one in their last ten games
Lewis Leigh let off the first attempt on goal after seven minutes
an effort from 30 yards out that dipped just over Charlie Ansen’s crossbar
Altrincham went 0-1 up through striker Jake Bickerstaffe
Alex Newby flicked on a header to Bickerstaffe
who took a touch into the box and wrapped the ball into the far corner
Bickerstaffe then picked up a yellow in the 24th minute for handling the ball
Jamie Cooke had a chance on the edge of the box in the 35th minute but sliced his effort wide of the goal
Isaac Marriot received the second yellow of the day five minutes later for a late challenge on Galvin
Daniel Nkrumah found himself in the referee’s book for a sliding tackle less than a minute later
Lewis Leigh saw a straight red in the 58th minute for a late challenge on Lewis Banks that the referee deemed high and dangerous
The afternoon worsened for the Shaymen when Adam Senior committed a handball in the penalty area
Regan Linney converted the penalty in the 65th minute
sending Toby Savin the wrong way for his 22nd goal in the National League this season and making it 0-2
Chris Millington responded by replacing Tom Pugh with Owen Bray
Phil Parkinson brought Lucas Weaver off the bench for the goalscorer Bickerstaffe
their top goalscorer Linney finding the back of the net for a second time in the afternoon
slid the ball through to the substitute Weaver
Town made their second change of the day with 14 minutes to go
Nkrumah making way for Dubem Eze as Altrincham’s Callum Dolan came on for Marriot
Parkinson made his fourth change of the match
Halifax then made a double change with Jack Jenkins and Luca Thomas making way for Sean Tarima and Zak Emmerson
Millington’s final substitution of the day saw him bring Harvey Sutcliffe on for Angelo Cappello in the 85th minute
as Chris Millington’s side face Braintree at the Shay Stadium on Saturday
with the pursuit of playoffs still in the balance
11 Angelo Cappello (14 Harvey Sutcliffe 84)

Caleb Ansen is staying with Altrincham for the rest of the season after a loan extension was agreed for the highly-rated Norwich City under-21s keeper
The 19-year old was pitched straight into a debut at Boundary Park against Oldham Athletic shortly after arriving on an initial one-month loan in the wake of Ethan Ross being ruled out for the season with an ACL injury
He kept a clean sheet with an assured performance at Gateshead
where no fewer than eight saves earned him a place in the National League team of the week
and he impressed again when the Robins returned to the North-East three days later and added a further three points to our promotion push with a 2-1 win at Hartlepool United
A fourth consecutive starting appearance followed against AFC Fylde at The J.Davidson Stadium
as a long unbeaten record at home finally came to an end with a 2-1 defeat
When the opportunity arose to add experience to the goalkeeping ranks in the shape of former Wrexham number one Rob Lainton
Caleb was named on the bench for the subsequent games against York City
Though he was an unused substitute each time
he continues to provide Rob with genuine competition for a starting place by performing to a high level on a daily basis at the Robins' Egerton training ground
His loan extension is an important breakthrough for the club in the face of a demanding fixture schedule
and 11 more league games to be completed in less than two months
and we're delighted he's going to be with us for the rest of the campaign
with so many important games coming up," said director of football Marc Tierney
so it's good to know we will be well catered for in goal
"This just underlines the benefits to be had from our policy of exploring the Championship and Football League in general for young talent and giving them the chance to develop while also contributing for us on the pitch

Altrincham have been dealt a setback after learning that Ethan Ross' injury is to his anterior cruciate ligament and he will need surgery that will keep him out for the rest of the season.
The Robins were hoping any damage would be minimal, but after he underwent a scan, the news reached us earlier today that an ACL operation was required and our inspirational goalkeeper would face a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Given that it was immediately apparent he would miss some games, Alty bosses sprang into action over the weekend and managed to secure a loan deal for Norwich City keeper Caleb Ansen, who will go straight into the side against Oldham Athletic at Boundary Park this evening.
Ethan's injury is a cruel blow for a player whose consistent brilliance between the posts and genial, approachable nature off the pitch has made him such a firm favourite with team-mates, club officials and fans.
In wishing Ethan well with his rehab programme, the club are mindful that a solution is needed to his long-term absence and will explore all options as a matter of urgency in the coming days.
In the meantime, we are grateful to Norwich and Caleb for consenting to a loan move which means that, while plans are formulated, we can make use of a highly-rated young keeper who has twice been on the bench for the Canaries in Championship games and has European experience for their under-21 team after keeping a clean sheet against PSV Eindhoven in the Premier League International Cup at Carrow Road a couple of months ago.
Altrincham have added experience and proven ability to the goalkeeping ranks by signing free agent Rob Lainton.
The former Wrexham number one is in manager Phil Parkinson's squad for tonight's National League Cup quarter-final against Newcastle United under-21s at The J.Davidson Stadium and is eligible for Saturday's short trip to the Crown Oil Arena, as Alty take on Rochdale for a place in the Isuzu FA Trophy semi-finals.
Hailing from Ashton-under-Lyne, the 35-year old will bring a level of experience and know-how that will benefit the younger keepers at the club and also increase the options at Phil's disposal.
After working his way through the junior age groups at Bolton Wanderers and graduating to their senior squad in 2010, Rob signed for Bury in 2013 and made nearly 40 first-team appearances for them, including 17 in a highly-successful 2014-15 campaign that ended in automatic promotion to League One.
After a spell with Port Vale, he joined Wrexham in July 2018, initially on a loan deal that became permanent in November that year.
The 6ft 4in keeper was named Wrexham's player of the year in 2018-19 after recording 25 clean sheets, 21 of them in the league, and he made over 120 appearances for them in all before leaving the Racecourse Ground last summer.
A warm welcome to The J.Davidson Stadium, Rob, and here's wishing you every success in Alty colours.
Kacper Pasiek's attacking exploits have already endeared him to Altrincham fans, and they will be on display for another month after he agreed to extend his stay at The J.Davidson Stadium.
The 19-year old left-back is pictured in our main image (below) celebrating with Kahrel Reddin after lighting up The J.Davidson Stadium with a stunning strike from outside the area in last week's National League Cup win over Wolves under-21s.
He was due to return to his parent club Preston North End after completing a month on loan at Alty after Saturday's 1-0 Isuzu FA Trophy fifth-round home win over Eastleigh.
But, in a breakthrough that further bolsters the Robins' squad for a testing run of fixtures that includes several away trips in the coming weeks, Alty have arranged with Kacper and his club for him to remain with us for a further month.
Welcoming the news that the versatile defender will carry on in Alty colours, Director of Football Marc Tierney said: "We're happy that we are extending his deal. He has shown up really well in the games he has played so far, and it was a superb goal he scored against Wolves.
"That will have been great for his confidence, and everyone can see what a bright spark he is going to be for the team.
"The way he linked up with Kahrel the other day was really exciting to see. There is some real great pace there, with his overlapping prowess, and I'm sure that will come into fruition over the course of the next month.
"With Kian Taylor here as well, it's great to utilise these loans for young players and put them over to the coaches. I'm really happy to see how they'll be coached in the coming weeks into what we need and I'm really happy with the squad at the moment.
"It's looking really strong, and I'm looking forward to some interesting games on the back of the Trophy draw. So, it's looking bright and good, and I'm looking forward to seeing Kacper getting some more game time."
Alty first became aware of Kacper after playing a bounce game at Preston a couple of months ago and immediately singling him out as an ideal candidate for strengthening the left side of defence, particularly in the wake of Eddy Jones picking up an injury.
He went straight into the squad to face Barnet in a Trophy fourth-round tie at The J.Davidson Stadium a month ago and made his debut as an 84th-minute substitute in our 3-1 win.
Sure in the tackle and always eager to get forward and support the Robins' attacking endeavours, he has gone from strength to strength since then, and everyone at the club would like to wish him continuing success in Alty colours.
Altrincham had an early opportunity when Alex Newby's effort was saved by Toby Savin and they soon took the lead in the 10th minute when Jake Bickerstaff broke forward before rolling home
Lewis Banks sent a shot over the bar just before the break and Altrincham goalkeeper Caleb Ansen was called into action early in the second half to deny Jamie Cooke before Halifax were reduced to 10 men in the 58th minute when Lewis Leigh was sent off
The Robins soon took advantage as Linney slotted home from the penalty spot in the 65th minute and the striker bagged his brace just eight minutes later after tapping home from Lucas Weaver's low pass across the box

Tributes were paid to former Dale midfielder Joe Thompson following his death from cancer at the age of 36
with a minute's applause held before the match while both teams wore black armbands
And it was the visitors who took the lead after 20 minutes when Sam Beckwith found the bottom corner from 25 yards
Tarryn Allarakhia curled an effort inches wide as the visitors threatened again
while an eventful end to the half saw Ian Henderson's header smack the crossbar before the forward then tucked home Allarakhia's pass
Rochdale struck the woodwork again within minutes of the restart through Rodney
and Altrincham made the most of the let-off with Isaac Marriott pulling them level in the 58th minute
it was the visitors who had the final say as Rodney fired Harvey Gilmour's lay-off into the bottom corner a minute from time

Altrincham are absolutely delighted to announce that exciting prospect Lucas Weaver has committed his future to the club by signing a new long-term contract at The J.Davidson Stadium
The jet-heeled winger's arrival last summer was hailed as a coup after the Robins nipped in and snapped him up ahead of a growing number of other clubs alerted to his remarkable scoring exploits with Colne
Little wonder there was so much interest in him after he finished the previous season with a total of 42 goals from 43 league and cup appearances
an astonishing statistic for a wide player
After a couple of loan spells earlier this season with Bamber Bridge and Radcliffe
he broke into Alty's line-up and quickly underlined his unerring eye for goal by repeatedly getting himself into threatening positions with his blistering pace and instinct for a likely opening
will develop into a major asset as he gains more experience
and he insisted his sights are now firmly set on helping fire the Robins to a second successive top-seven finish in the Vanarama National League
"I'm really happy to have signed a new contract," he said
and I'm looking forward to kicking on for the rest of this season as we look towards qualifying for the play-offs."
After returning from his spell with Radcliffe
Lucas grabbed his opportunity at Alty with both hands
taking the eye with his rapid acceleration
particularly in the away win over Eastleigh
and heading a late winner against Wolves under-21s in the National League Cup
Writing in his programme notes the week after the Wolves game
assistant-manager Neil Sorvel said: "It's fair to say a goal had been coming for Lucas when you consider the one-on-ones he had in that game
and the keeper made a decent save from another
but he didn't quite get enough curl on the other one he had as it went narrowly wide of the post
though - his pace often got him into those positions by leaving a defender trailing and
he kept going and continued making life a nightmare for anyone trying to mark him
and there's no doubt he carries a massive threat for us."
Reflecting on the contract breakthrough ahead of tonight's eagerly-awaited National League derby with Oldham Athletic at Boundary Park
Alty director of football Marc Tierney said: "I'm delighted to have got the signature of Lucas sorted out to extend his stay with us for up to another three years
going out on loan to Bamber Bridge and Radcliffe and coming back with a real determination to get in the first team here
"He fits the physical profile of the team we want to create and also fits the mould of youth we want to progress
but he has put in man-of-the-match performances recently and got his goal at home against Wolves
"He scored a hatful of goals for Bamber Bridge and Radcliffe
and he has fitted into the squad really well
I'm looking forward to seeing him continuing to grow and continuing to learn his trade with us
"It just shows that when lads go out on loan and progress and improve
they then get a chance with our coaches to further improve
and I think Lucas will be a really good addition to our team
so it is good to get him signed and sealed for up to the next three years
young central midfielder Owen German is heading for a loan spell with an Alfreton side who are just seven points off the play-off places in the National League North to gain more valuable first-team experience
Altrincham have moved to remedy a shortage of full-backs by drafting in free agent Matt Penney
With Eddy Jones sidelined by an anterior cruciate ligament injury and Kacper Pasiek back at Preston North End after an impressive loan spell at The J.Davidson Stadium
the Robins have been left short of cover in the two full-back positions
Former Sheffield Wednesday and Ipswich Town left-back Matt
who turned out for Rochdale earlier this season
has been handed an opportunity by manager Phil Parkinson and is among the substitutes for this evening's Vanarama National League fixture away to Hartlepool United
The name of Altrincham FC will be broadcast throughout the Basque Country after world famous La Liga side Athletic Club announced plans to support our Non-League Day fixture with Barnet
The Basque giants' history can be traced back to English roots
hence the name Athletic rather than Atletico
with migrant shipworkers from Sunderland and Southampton to the fore when the club came into existence at the turn of the 20th century
and it struck a chord when they were made aware of English football's recognition of grassroots football with the inception of Non-League Day
As they looked around the ways of expressing their support, they unsurprisingly narrowed the search down to teams sporting the iconic red and white stripes they have always worn and concluded that Alty's promotion showdown with table-topping Barnet on Saturday March 22nd would be the perfect choice
Providing tangible proof of the collaboration's importance to them
have sent the Robins one of their men's jerseys and one women's jersey for us to raffle on the day of the Barnet game at The J.Davidson Stadium
staff at the San Mamés Stadium are preparing an in-depth article about Alty
detailing our history and the tradition behind our home kit
that will be distributed throughout the wide area of their fanatical support at the start of the week leading up to Non-League Day
Athletic Club will hold their own “Basque Non-League Day” in collaboration with 93 of their 170 affiliate clubs
Grassroots football helps make Athletic unique in the world and plays a vital role in maintaining their renowned policy of only fielding footballers born or raised in the Basque Country
Explaining why Alty will headline a week-long programme of link-ups with English non-League clubs
"Athletic Club has teamed up with six English non-League clubs that play in red-and- white stripes as part of our 2025 Non-League Day celebrations
Steyning Town and Witton Albion - have all received one Athletic men’s jersey and one Athletic women’s jersey to raffle off at their respective Non-League Day fixtures
Athletic Club will publish a series of articles about each of the clubs involved in this initiative with information about their respective histories
their kits and further details about their NLD matches
starting with Altrincham FC on Monday March 17th
"The opening line of the club’s official anthem
is a powerful expression of the colours’ importance to Athletic’s history and identity
with red and white also being present on the flag of Bilbao
which made their debut in a 1910 friendly against Sporting Irun
although it has not yet been possible to establish for certain whether they came from the Sunderland or Southampton
"If you’re an Athleticzale in England at the time of the Non-League Day games
including Altrincham FC vs Barnet FC at The J Davidson Stadium
"Non-League Day is an initiative that connects directly with Athletic Club’s identity
Besides playing a crucial role in local communities
grassroots football is a fundamental part of the club’s youth development strategy
and Athletic has affiliate agreements with close to 170 clubs across the Basque Country
"Athletic Club is the only side in La Liga to celebrate non-professional football and encourage attendance at local grounds during the March international break."
It is hoped this new relationship with Athletic Bilbao might develop along similar lines to our recent affiliation with NEC Nijmegen
"We are thrilled to collaborate with Athletic Club to promote Non-League Day on March 22nd
This partnership not only celebrates the rich history and community spirit of non-League football but also strengthens the bonds between our clubs
we aim to highlight the vital role that grassroots football plays in nurturing talent and fostering a love for the game."
*Watch out for more details of how the Athletic Bilbao jerseys will be raffled on Non-League Day
Altrincham FC Women are just one game away from winning their first ever trophy
following a pulsating Cheshire Women’s & Youth League
Challenge Cup semi-final victory over Nantwich Town
The Dabbers had completed a league double over the Robins and were crowned champions of The Cheshire Women’s & Youth League
With the hosts unbeaten at The Swansway Stadium this season
the most significant result in the history of Altrincham FC Women
who will face Witton Albion or Vauxhall Motors in the final
which is likely to be played at the end of the month or early in May
as their semi-final is not being played until Wednesday April 23 at Wincham Park
After a slightly nervous opening at Nantwich’s impressive modern stadium
Alty took the lead just after the half hour mark
who neatly created an opportunity to deliver a low cross to Kira Saycell
performed heroics to block Saycell’s instinctive flick
but Alty’s leading scorer was on hand to poke the loose ball into the net from close range
The Dabbers equalised just before the break through the impressive Levi Lander
who rose superbly inside a crowded six-yard box
to head in a well delivered corner from close range
This led to a jittery finish to the half for the visitors
as Dan Mellor’s side piled on the pressure
but Duncan Jones’ team stood firm and an even first period finished level at 1-1
Alty gradually took control of proceedings and Saycell restored the lead just before the hour
after dispossessing Bethan Davies 40 yards from goal
who put in a very good goalkeeping display
came out almost to the edge of her area to parry Saycell’s effort
but was prostrate and helpless as the ball fell kindly to Alty’s goal machine who calmly slotted the rebound home
The third goal was the best of the game with the industrious Walsh again involved in the initial play
which ended with Nat Lowe’s slide rule ball dissecting the heart of the Dabbers defence to pick out Elise Jones
who calmly rolled the ball past the outstretched legs of the advancing Niamh Harding
who had replaced the injured Townsend minutes earlier
Nantwich were beginning to look tired and unlikely to be able to bridge the 2-goal deficit
but some sloppy play in the 83rd minute gifted possession to the Cheshire side and Poppy Smith took full advantage with a powerful left foot strike
from just inside the corner of the penalty area
that sailed over Ari Shapiro and just underneath the crossbar
This led to a more tense finish to the game than should have been the case
as the Dabbers dominated the closing stages
but Alty held out for a thoroughly deserved victory
Annie O’Donoghue put in a hugely composed first half display at right back
whilst the central defensive partnership of Emily O’ Leary & Brianna Morrison dealt magnificently with Dabbers leading scorer
Grace McArdle & Nat Lowe toiled throughout to dominate the midfield engine room
whilst the striking partnership of Kira Saycell & Elise Jones seems to improve with every game
Both strikers were outstanding, a constant thorn in the Dabbers side but the RadioAlty Player of the Match goes to Elise Jones for perhaps the finest individual performance of the season
Nantwich just couldn’t deal with the converted left back
particularly in the second quarter of the game

Altrincham FC and Altrincham FC Community Sports are raising awareness of bowel cancer in the lead up to Braintree Town's visit to The J.Davidson Stadium on February 8th
That particularly matchday has been designated as Bowel Cancer Awareness Day

The Bowel Cancer UK website is also a good source of information on bowel cancer
what to look for and what to do if you're concerned about the risks
The way fine margins can so often decide football issues was never more evident than at The J.Davidson Stadium this afternoon as Altrincham missed out on reclaiming their place in the Vanarama National League play-off places
Alex Newby had hauled the Robins back on to level terms in stunning style and thought he had won it in the 88th minute with a low drive that looked bound for the bottom right corner until Aldershot keeper Marcus Dewhurst flung out an arm to divert it to safety
substitute Max Mullins picked the ball up on the left of the Alty area and floated it towards the far post
Whether it was meant as a cross or shot is anyone's guess
What did matter was the ball ended up dropping into the far corner of Alty's net and the points were accompanying Aldershot on their long journey back to Hampshire
who had played a full part in a game that sprang to life midway through the first half after a listless opening but have now suffered three straight defeats and need a positive response when Wealdstone visit us on Tuesday night
Problems with the pitch cutting up were all too apparent
it was proving particularly disruptive to Alty's preference for playing out from the back with patience and precision
the Robins made light of the bobbly surface and provided a glimpse of their true attacking worth that so nearly led to an opening goal
Kacper Pasiek won the ball on the left and slipped it inside to Newby
who weaved his way across the edge of the area to open up space for a shot
but Dewhurst took off to his right to fingertip the ball behind for a corner
and it had to be to keep out such a firmly struck and well directed effort by the Alty forward
It took a goal-saving block by Elliot Osborne to deny Aldershot in the 32nd minute
while Rob Lainton had to be alert to get an outstretched hand to a drive by Tyler Frost a minute later as the visitors began to press for a way through
Great hold-up play by Jake Bickerstaff almost contributed to a breakthrough for the Robins in the 38th minute
with his back to goal just outside the area
Bickerstaff delayed releasing it until spotting Pasiek in space further over to the left
the on-loan left-back blazed the chance over
Alty were literally centimetres away from a half-time lead in the 44th minute after Bickerstaff set up Justin Amaluzor
who found himself one-on-one with Dewhurst and looked to have won the battle of wits with a clever dink over the keeper
only for Will Armitage to dash back and hack the ball clear as it was about to cross the line
There was more frustration for Alty in the 65th minute when Bickerstaff again held the ball up and rolled it to Osborne for a shot that looked to be on its way in until cannoning into a defender
Alty found themselves behind after Lainton made a fine save but could do nothing about Cameron Hargreaves pouncing on the loose ball and ramming it home from close range
and they were back on terms with a superb goal in the 73rd minute
Osborne set it up with a typically pinpoint ball that picked out Newby in space on the left
The rest was all about Newby's ability to work space for a shot and finish with aplomb
A feint one way and burst of acceleration the other was enough to wrong-foot his marker
and the left-foot drive from the tightest of angles was simply unstoppable as it flew into the roof of the net
Alty had the scent of a winner in their nostrils and went so close to one in the 87th minute when Bickerstaff brilliantly sidestepped a challenge in the area and laid the ball off to substitute George Wilson
whose low raking shot was heading for the corner until an outstretched hand parried it away from its target
with Mullins' speculative shot-cum-cross looping beyond the reach of Lainton and nestling in the far corner of the net
There was no way back for an Alty side who must now hope they can make home advantage count in what is going to be a crucial next couple of weeks

Bar Etna opened on Stamford New Road in May 2023
For Chiara Di Costa and her husband Carmelo
food is more than just a means to an end - it’s the essence of family
That’s exactly what they’ve brought to Altrincham with Bar Etna
their family-friendly and welcoming trattoria on Stamford New Road that will soon celebrate its second birthday.
reflecting the couple’s roots and their dream of creating something truly special - and judging by the feedback
Chiara and Carmelo hail from different parts of Sicily - Carmelo from a small village near Catania and Chiara from Nicosia
a village in the mountainous Enna region.
they were both raised in the heart of Sicilian culture
where food was an expression of love and family ties ran deep
Chiara originally trained as a beauty therapist
but her passion for hospitality was always strong
"I worked in hospitality in Sicily for a few years
but I never had something that was mine," she recalls
The idea of opening a place of their own had always been in the back of their minds
and when they moved to Altrincham when Carmelo landed a job at Travelodge on Stamford New Road
the couple quickly established that this was the perfect place to bring their dream to life
"I was pregnant when we were planning all of this
Despite some early challenges - including being scammed and taken to court
an ordeal they ultimately won with the help of BBC’s Rip Off Britain programme - the couple persevered.
Family is at the heart of everything Chiara and Carmelo do
including Nicholas who was just two months old when Bar Etna opened
balancing work and home life is a constant challenge
"My husband tells me to stop thinking about the restaurant when we have our Tuesdays off!" Chiara laughs
The sense of family extends to their staff as well
"We wouldn’t be here without our business partners
but all share a deep respect for authentic Italian cuisine
And we’ve recently welcomed Karen and Melissa to the team."
"She’s not a fan of cooking - an unusual trait for an Italian woman
is the typical Italian woman who wakes up and immediately thinks about what to cook
That’s where Carmelo gets his love for food!"
but retains an intimate and homely atmosphere that all the best Italian eateries have
It’s smaller and more relaxed," explains Chiara
"We started with nine tables and a tiny kitchen with just a four-ring electric hob and an oven
we’ve improved the space for ourselves and our customers."
"We’re not trying to do extravagant dishes
though Chiara is quick to clarify that they’re not a typical café
but we don’t serve a full English or anything like that
Our focus is on Sicilian flavours and home-style cooking."
They’ve also embraced Altrincham’s strong community spirit
"The best thing is when customers tell us they’ve been recommended by friends or neighbours
That word-of-mouth support means everything to us," says Chiara
People come here because they want an authentic experience."
Bar Etna is designed to make people feel at home - and that especially includes young families
"We have a play area for children because we know how hard it is for families to find a place where they can enjoy a coffee while their little ones are entertained," says Chiara
and feel like they’re part of our extended family."
The trattoria also has a small retail section selling Italian goods
It’s just another way we bring a piece of home to Altrincham."
As Bar Etna approaches its second anniversary
"We’re always thinking about new specials and ways to keep things fresh," she says
but that allows us to focus on quality and seasonal ingredients."
Despite the long hours and challenges of running a restaurant
welcoming place to spend time with loved ones
Bar Etna invites you to experience a little taste of Sicily right here in Altrincham

Justin Amaluzor scored for the second game in a row and Callum Dolan showed the artistry and invention that could yet unlock the door to a place in the play-offs
but Altrincham couldn't quite find a path through to the National League Cup final at The J.Davidson Stadium this evening
Amaluzor added to Saturday's goal at Ebbsfleet in stunning style midway through the second half
spinning om to a clever pass from George Wilson and firing a low shot into the bottom corner
Leeds' youngsters had already scored twice by then
and much as the Robins threw everything at the visitors' goal in the closing stages
they couldn't find the equaliser that would have taken this semi-final to a penalty shoot-out
Dolan served early notice of his intention to make the most of a first Alty start
weaving one way then another to open up space for a cross-shot that whistled wide of the far post
in particular a pass down the right and a cross whipped in from the left
underlined why the on-loan Fleetwood Town midfielder is so highly rated by Alty boss Phil Parkinson
Caleb Ansen was called into action in the 15th minute when a fierce drive by Connor Ferguson from the left of the area was turned round the post by the Alty keeper
Dolan started another flowing Alty move in the 21st minute that ended with Matty Kosylo surging forward and driving a left-foot effort that flew narrowly wide
A scything foul by Tylor Golden on the edge of the Alty area cost the Robins full-back a yellow card and his side a goal as Leeds went ahead in the 38th minute
Rhys Chadwick drilled the resulting free-kick against the base of the post
and Diogo Monteiro reacted quickest to the rebound
Tempers began to fray towards the end of the half
not least when Kosylo responded with understandable anger to Sam Chambers raking studs down the back of his right leg
a dreadful challenge that rightly brought the Leeds midfielder a booking
Dolan again illustrated the threat he carries in an attacking midfield role
jinking in from the left and unleashing a drive that Rory Mahady only kept out at the second attempt
Leeds doubled their lead in the 52nd minute after an error by Golden led to Josh McDonald sprinting clear on the right
stepping inside a challenge in the area before sliding a shot under the advancing Ansen
and George Wilson did his best to provide one on the hour as he powered forward towards the edge of the Leeds area
The Robins were back in business in the 66th minute with a goal that was superbly crafted and finished with aplomb
Wilson pickled out Amaluzor with an expertly-placed
and the Alty winger spun brilliantly to create the opportunity for a shot that was swept into the bottom left corner of the net
When Dolan somehow managed to hook the ball across the six-yard box from the right after appearing to have been knocked off balance in the 81st minute
substitute Remi Thompson so nearly converted it beyond the far post with an effort that was blocked by a defender
Kahrel Reddin latched on to a pinpoint crossfield pass by Elliot Osborne in the 86th minute
and when he darted down the flank and crossed low into the six-yard area
an almighty scramble followed before Leeds were able to hack the ball to safety
Lucas Weaver sent a glancing header agonisingly wide as time began to run out for the Robins
but only after Ansen ambled forward into the Leeds area for an Alty free-kick
only for his flick-on to evade everyone and trickle over the line for a goal-kick that couldn't be taken before the final whistle sounded
as we turn our sights back to the main prize of securing a place in the Vanarama National League play-offs with a visit by Yeovil Town to The J.Davidson Stadium on Saturday

An excellent display from the Shrimpers secured a 2-1 win over Altrincham in our NextGen fixture
James Golding opened the scoring with a forceful header to grab his third goal in his many games
Macauley Bonne added a second goal shortly before half-time when he stroked a low shot past Rob Lainton in the Alty net
Regan Linney pulled a goal back for the visitors in the second half
but the Blues held on for a deserved three points
Kevin Maher made three changes to the team that drew with Woking in midweek
Altrincham’s early spell of possession resulted in the ball being floated towards the back post for Alex Newby to head back across goal
but Justin Amaluzor couldn’t catch up with the ball to convert
An improvised lobbed pass by Bonne saw Gus Scott-Morriss beat the keeper to the ball wide on the righthand side
before the wing back’s cross was cleared
Charley Kendall retrieved the ball and passed it into the feet of Bonne who set it for Keenan Appiah Forson to strike
but the midfielder’s effort curled wide
A deep cross from the lefthand side from James Morton fell for Kendall
but he couldn’t squeeze his shot past the Alty defender
Scott-Morriss then hit a sweet volley from 25 yards out that had to be blocked behind for a corner
Golding stormed in at the back post to head into an unguarded net to open the scoring
Scott-Morriss bent in a cross towards the six-yard box
and while Bonne wasn’t far from getting on the end of it
Rob Lainton took two attempts to gather the ball with Hopper lurking
Parillon retrieved the ball high in the Alty half before slipping Bonne through on the lefthand side
but the striker’s effort was dragged into the side-netting
Bonne had another chance shortly afterwards when Morton’s deflected cross fell to him
and on the turn he fired a left-footed shot towards goal but it rose over the crossbar
Clever play again from Parillon gave Hopper a chance shoot from a wide angle
but Lainton did well to block the shot behind at the near post
Kendall created space to lay the ball back for Scott-Morriss
who curled an effort towards the top right corner of the net
for which Lainton had to be at full stretch to tip wide
Newby gave the visitors a brief sight of goal when his free-kick dipped perilously close to the
Parillon seized upon the second ball before playing in Bonne who fired past Lainton to double the lead
Alty would then hit the crossbar when Golding threw himself at Regan Linney’s shot
causing the ball to fly up and bounce off the woodwork
hearts were in mouths when Linney broke clear of Taylor to go one-on-one with Nick Hayes
but the Shrimpers keeper stood firm to paw the dinked shot over his crossbar
Justin Amaluzor was picked out on the right wing and twisted past Gubbins to fire towards goal
but Golding was well-positioned to make the block
The Robins did eventually find the net on the hour mark
as Linney fired a left-footed shot into the far corner of the net from righthand side of the penalty area
Lewis Baines then had a free header from a corner but could only direct the ball into the hands of Hayes
Bonne lost his marker cleverly to reach a deep free-kick before firing towards goal
only for Lainton to claim with relative ease
There was another nervy moment when Golding was dispossessed and Linney was played through on goal
The win extends the Shrimpers’ unbeaten run to seven matches and closes the gap to the play-offs to just three points
The Blues now face three consecutive away matches
starting with Forest Green Rovers next Saturday

The Altrincham & Hale Muslim Association is planning to relocate from its current home on Grove Lane
The Altrincham & Hale Muslim Association has announced ambitious plans to relocate from its current premises on Grove Lane to a new purpose-built Islamic Centre and Masjid on Thorley Lane in Timperley
is a place of worship for Muslims where the community gathers for prayers
revealed that the organisation has already raised the £1 million needed to purchase the site
The next phase of fundraising will focus on building costs
In 22 years we have completely outgrown it
it has a capacity of 600-odd people," Amjad said
"We're not expecting to fill the new mosque as soon as it is built
the proposed new development on Thorley Lane
opposite the site of the former World of Pets (now slated for housing development)
will be a "modern state of the art purpose-built Masjid" with capacity for up to 1,800 people
The plans outline a 25,000 sq ft facility spread across two and a half floors on a 1.6-acre site
A number of visuals have been released which show the plans for the Islamic Centre
Key features will include basement facilities for ritual washing (wudu) before prayer
and potential rooftop space that could be used for weddings and private functions
Addressing potential concerns about traffic congestion on Thorley Lane
Amjad pointed to the wider context of development in the area: "If they're going to build 2,500 homes in Davenport Green
He also noted that the new location would "alleviate the problems with Grove Lane
which is also a bus route and a relatively narrow road compared to Thorley Lane"
The Association has been in discussions with Trafford Council over the past four to five months
very confident" about the application's prospects
He emphasised that the site is "not green belt" but is now "designated for housing and a whole infrastructure is being put in for this development" as part of the larger Timperley Wedge scheme
While acknowledging there has been some opposition to the plans on social media
Amjad said the Association is focused on engaging with the formal planning process
"There are always objections to anything which is new
I'm sure Miller Homes have had a lot of objections
"We are just going to engage with the planning process
and go through the things we need to do to get planning."
the Association expects construction to take around 18 months
The current site on Grove Lane would be sold for redevelopment as housing
The proposed Islamic Centre would be situated within the context of significant development planned for the area
The Timperley Wedge/Davenport Green project includes £750m plans for 2,500 new homes (45% affordable)
and a new rural park on 558 acres of former Green Belt land
Miller Homes has secured permission for a new 76-home development called Thorley Glade on the adjacent former World of Pets site
nearly half of which will be available via affordable rent or shared ownership.
