Jonny Stewart has been named as Bonnyrigg Rose's new manager
Stewart was a popular figure as a player at New Dundas Park from 2014 until 2024 when he departed to join Lowland League side Tranent as boss
who was sacked following the 1-0 defeat to Edinburgh City
which leaves the club in a battle to avoid 10th spot and a pyramid play-off place
Stewart told Bonnyrigg's website: "I am absolutely delighted to be back at the club
it is a real honour to be appointed Bonnyrigg Rose manager
It’s no secret my love for the club and I hope to install that passion into the squad
"We are in a difficult position but I believe we have more than enough to get ourselves safe
We’ve been in this position before and will need to rely on our previous experience with everyone pulling in the same direction."

Our under-18s picked up a CAS Cup victory in blustery conditions against Bonnyrigg Rose on Friday evening
Brodie Dair’s double and a neat finish from Ollie Cairns secured a 3-1 triumph
Dair had gone closest for Saints in the early stages with a low
angled drive as both teams searched for the upper hand
The visitors were battling away with intent but it was Dair who opened the scoring from the penalty spot following a handball inside the box
His effort from 12 yards flew high into the net
Bonnyrigg were level in the 28th minute courtesy of a powerful finish from close range and they continued to apply some pressure as the half advanced
But we managed to nudge back in front just shy of the break with a lovely team goal
Dair cushioned the ball beautifully into the path of Cairns and he burst into the box before producing a lovely finish beyond the goalkeeper
Bonnyrigg started the second half strongly and hit the post with a header
Four changes were made by Saints as the game advanced to its latter stages and the victory was then wrapped up in the 82nd minute
Dair was fouled inside the box and he picked himself up to slot in his second penalty kick of the evening
Jamie Cord almost added a fourth with a free-kick from the edge of the box and
the Perth youngsters saw out the game well

“It has been a bit of a frustrating season overall. There have been games where we have started well and then faded away in the second half, whether it is getting tired or losing concentration. We just need to sharpen up and our focus is on putting in a 90-minute performance.”
Dom was named U18s captain this season and that is a role he is enjoying growing into as the weeks progress.
“I like to encourage my team-mates – that is a job you need to do as a captain,” he added. “It can be tough when results are not going your way, but you need to lift everyone.
“I’m always happy to help bring some of the younger boys out of their shell and help them progress.”

PREVIEW On Saturday the ‘Loons’ play their penultimate home game in their William Hill League2 campaign when they entertain Bonnyrigg Rose
There is no hiding from the fact that it is a huge game for both clubs
Simply put if Forfar Athletic avoid defeat in the contest they secure their SPFL status while the visitors require a victory to continue their fight to avoid the dreaded 42nd spot in the current league ladder
That placing as all know brings with a two legged play-off against either the Highland or Lowland League champions
a winner take all tie over 180 minutes in May
Manager Jim Weir and his players go into tomorrow’s match in confident mode on the back of a four game unbeaten run that has yielded eight points
They have also recorded three victories to date this campaign against the Midlothian outfit
However Jim knows that their opponents will be well prepared and fired up for the occasion as they enter what is for them ‘last chance saloon.’ The ‘Loons’ management team have already warned their players to take nothing for granted and have in fact set the squad a target of winning their last three games as the season reaches its conclusion
on current form not a task that should be beyond them
The home side will disappointingly have to play those last three games without the services of influential skipper Stuart Morrison sidelined following a hamstring injury sustained in the dying embers of last Saturday’s hard fought draw away to Clyde
Youngsters Sam Young or Adam Hutchinson are two of the potential replacements available
That apart the remainder of the squad who have had such a great run of performances and results since the 2-1 midweek win at Stranraer in early March to eradicate a ten point gap at the foot of the table all took a full part in training this past week and are fit and ready for action
Bonnyrigg head north having not managed to win a league fixture since early February when they defeated Clyde 2-1 at home
During that period they also changed the man at the helm
former player Jonny Stewart recruited from Tranent taking over the reins from Callum Elliott
He will not be able to call on the services of Ryan Porteous for the Station Park clash after he was sent off in last weekend’s 2-0 home defeat from East Fife for two yellow card offences
It is hoped that the home support will again turn out in numbers to back their side as the players attempt to get over what is the ‘final hurdle’ in what has been their quest since the turn of the year and ‘put to bed’ with no disrespect to others intended
the nightmare scenario hanging over the club for a large part of this season

We can confirm that Murray Aiken has joined William Hill League Two side Bonnyrigg Rose on loan until the end of the season
The central midfielder spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Airdrieonians
The 20-year-old will now join up with ‘The Rose’ for the second half of the season
Bonnyrigg currently sit eighth in League Two
Hibernian FC Sporting Director Malky Mackay commented: “This is another good opportunity for Murray to gain regular football at a senior level
“He’s a determined young player who wants to develop
and this loan move gives him the best possible platform to do that
“We wish him the best of luck for the rest of the season.”
The ‘Loons’ begin a spell of five league fixtures in fourteen days
four of them on foreign soil with a visit to Bonnyrigg on Saturday first
Manager Jim Weir is well aware of the necessity to get a win ‘under our belts’ at what is obvious to all a now vital stage of the campaign for the club as we sit ten points adrift albeit with games in hand at the bottom end of the table
The manager looking back at last Saturday’s match at Stirling commented on how disappointed he was with the second half showing after the way the players competed so well especially in the first forty minutes of the contest and at that juncture in the contest had the edge over their opponents
incidentally the last team that the ‘Loons’ collected a three point haul against
the manager is well aware how important a victory would be to lift the spirits around the club
at the same time boosting the self belief and confidence of the players
Jim fully realises that a massive fortnight lies ahead and he continues to attempt to bolster his injury depleted squad with hopefully a singing imminent
He was delighted to get Sam Young on board prior to the clash with the ‘Binos.’ Sam a player with Championship match experience this season with parent club Dunfermline Athletic will undoubtedly add pace and presence to the defensive unit of the side
On the injury front Russell McLean joins Josh Skelly in being ruled out of the trip to Midlothian
Adam Hutchinson due to be assessed prior to kick-off
The home side who of course suffered a six point penalty deduction earlier in the season were within five minutes of securing victory away to league leaders East Fife last weekend
this after losing out by the odd goal in seven to Peterhead at New Dundas Park the previous Saturday
Manager Calum Elliott brought in six new faces in January but only one Gallagher Lennon
son of a famous father and on loan from St
Mirren was in the starting line-up at Bayview
Hopefully a few of the Forfar faithful will head to Bonnyrigg on Saturday to lend their most appreciated support
a return visit to the area on the cards on Tuesday evening of next week
Spartans the scheduled opponents in the Capital City on that occasion
before a visit from Clyde on Saturday week
The man in the middle is George Calder who last took control of a ‘Loons’ fixture in late December when Stirling Albion were the visitors to the ‘toonie.’ Admission at New Dundas Park is by cash or card payment at the turnstiles on the day

Two Kane Hester goals fired Elgin City towards a 3-0 victory over Bonnyrigg Rose on Tuesday night
It was a nervy start by the Moray men with Bonnyrigg enjoying the lion’s share of possession and territory in the opening 15 minutes
and Elgin were taking time to grow into the contest so it was against the grain of the game when they took the lead with their first telling attack
Kane Hester picked a good time to score the first goal of his second spell at City
racing on to a precise Russell Dingwall through pass to lash past Paddy Martin from 12 yards
That goal settled City down and only poor touches in the final third prevented them from creating more opportunities in the rest of the first half
The doubled their lead on 56 minutes from a corner on the left
flighted in by Mark Gallagher and powered home by the head of centre back Jake Dolzanski
Elgin keeper Tom McHale did have to make a fine diving save on 64 minutes to deny Cammy Ross with a curling effort
But victory was sealed 11 minutes from time with a superb goal
Play began deep in Elgin’s own half and a flowing move took the ball to halfway
where Gallagher threaded a perfect pass through to Hester to clinically slot home his second
New loan signing Jack MacIver was part of a quadruple home substitution late on and he impressed with his runs down the left
prompting one move which ended with fellow sub Olly McDonald slipping a shot past
It was Elgin’s most convincing league win of the season and took them to within a point of Peterhead in second place with a game in hand
This tribute has been written by Marie Arthur of Bonnyrigg Rose
The club are devastated to announce the passing of Chairman Charlie Kirkwood late last night (Friday 1st November)
Charlie had been battling health conditions over the last 4 years but his desire to see his beloved club succeed had never wavered
Charlie’s association with the club spanned nearly 60 years; from kit boy when Rose won their first Junior Cup in 1966
to committee member in the 80s and a sponsor through his window cleaning business from the 90s
He will however be best known for his decision to re-join the committee in 2009 and ascend to the position of Chairman shortly after
when it became clear that the club was in a perilous state which threatened its very existence
He immediately gave up his comfortable seat at Celtic Park and swapped it for no seats at New Dundas Park
Having been semi-retired from his business at the time he went into full time retirement
dedicating the rest of his life to the Rose
What followed was the most sustained period of un-paralleled success in the club’s history over his fifteen year tenure
with several league titles and with the transition from junior back to senior football
promotions which resulted in the club taking its unlikely place in the SPFL – something that even the most ardent supporter could only have dreamt of a few short years ago
Attendances which struggled to break a couple of hundred in 2009 most weeks returned to that seen in the halcyon days of Junior football in the 60s and 70s under his leadership
Incremental improvements were made each year to the home of the Rose when finances allowed due to the many sponsors he managed to coax into his vision of the club
with New Dundas Park now unrecognisable from the ground he inherited fifteen years ago
where players needed to be looked after and no ask was too great or too small that he wouldn’t oblige
Such was his popularity with those that donned the red and white hoops that a huge number that long since left NDP still kept in regular contact with him
On the rare occasions he was away from New Dundas Park he would often be seen on the sidelines at Poltonhall
Lasswade High School or King George V watching one of his grandsons kick a ball
as family was a big part of his life and over the years managed to rope in most of them to carry out some form of role at the club
Our sincere condolences go to his wife Julie
his grandchildren and the rest of his family
committee members and all associated with Bonnyrigg Rose
Today’s scheduled William Hill League 2 match vs Clyde at New Douglas Park will go ahead as planned today
as the last thing he would have wanted was for the game to be cancelled on his account
No doubt he will be looking down from the heavens hoping for another three points today

Scottish League Two side Bonnyrigg Rose have been hit with a six-point penalty after their Dundas Park pitch broke an obscure SPEL rule
Normally when we think about a club taking a hit to their points tally it's because of off-field transfer dealings
it's facing a penalty for very literal on-field rule-breaking
It turns out, that the Scottish League Two side has the incorrect pitch gradient
and has now had their licence downgraded to entry-level
Bronze level is the minimum requirement to play in the league
the club has until next summer to sort out the issue
and until January 31st 2025 to provide details of how they plan to fix it
As things stand the club is not doing so great in the league
just two points above Clyde and Forfar Athletic who occupy the relegation spots
they were in 5th place (of a 10-team league)
Now the club faces a bill of up to £120,000 to fix the issue
and has had to turn to crowd funding to sort the issue out
“Changing the pitch surface became our focus
as levelling was identified as being a wasted investment and unnecessary additional time and effort given the opportunity to obtain funding to change the surface as part of our club and community development ambitions.” They went on to clarify why they made the changes they did
“The rationale behind the change of surface was to enable and support local grassroots football
in partnership with The Bonnyrigg Rose Community Club
as well as delivering a positive impact to the local economy & wider community
the Bonnyrigg Rose Community Club has an extensive waiting list of children keen to play football but who are unable to do so due to lack of space and resources”
that very same community is needed to keep the clubs alive
with expulsion from the league the obvious next step at the end of the season if work cannot be completed
The Rosey Posey, the heartbeat to our community, needs your help. We are fundraising to help towards levelling the pitch as well as to improve draining etc to ensure compliance with league membership. In a statement from the SPEL on the situation
the Scottish FA downgraded Bonnyrigg Rose FC’s overall Club Licence award from Bronze level to Entry level
due to the gradient of the pitch at the club’s New Dundas Park
It is an SPFL Rule that all clubs must have a Bronze level Scottish FA Club Licence
and Bonnyrigg Rose FC were therefore charged with a breach of SPFL Rules. At a hearing today (Tuesday 12 November
2024) an SPFL Disciplinary Tribunal imposed the following sanctions for the Club’s failure to maintain a Bronze level Licence:
“(i) The club was reprimanded and warned as to their future conduct;
“(ii) The club was deducted six points with immediate effect;
“(iii) The club was directed that no later than 31 January 2025 it provides details to the SPFL Board of the funding arrangements and programme of works to allow the club to undertake pitch levelling works in Summer 2025.”

In September, the SFA downgraded Bonnyrigg's overall club licence award from bronze level to entry level, due to the gradient of the surface.
The governing body punished the Midlothian side for SPFL rule breaches
due to a slope on their pitch at New Dundas Park
the SFA downgraded Bonnyrigg’s overall club licence award from bronze level to entry level
All clubs must have a bronze level SFA club licence and Bonnyrigg were charged with a breach of the governing body’s rules
the club was deducted six points with immediate effect and warned as to their future conduct
The League Two side must also provide details to the SPFL Board of the funding arrangements and programme of works to allow the club to undertake pitch levelling works in summer next year
The club have launched a fundraiser hoping to raise £120,000 to level the surface
A Bonnyrigg statement on the crowdfunder read: “Currently our pitch gradient does not meet the bronze level requirement for the SPFL.
“Following professional advice and in partnership with the Community Club, our ambition was to replace the grass surface at NDP with a synthetic surface.
“Changing the pitch surface became our focus, rather than levelling the pitch, as levelling was identified as being a wasted investment and unnecessary additional time and effort given the opportunity to obtain funding to change the surface as part of our club and community development ambitions.
“The rationale behind the change of surface was to enable and support local grass roots football, in partnership with The Bonnyrigg Rose Community Club, as well as delivering a positive impact to the local economy and wider community.
“As an example, and for clarity, the Bonnyrigg Rose Community Club has an extensive waiting list of children keen to play football but who are unable to do so due to lack of space and resources.
“An artificial surface at New Dundas Park would go some way to enable those children to play, provide a new pipeline of potential talent for the future as well as enabling the ground to become a seven day a week operational business, creating jobs within the local community and creating revenue for the club and local economy.
“Unfortunately, due to factors outside of our control both with central DCMS funding delays and following ground surveying works we have been unable to progress as we would have liked with the resurfacing works.
“As a result the licensing board have downgraded our licence from Bronze to Entry level.
“As such our focus has changed and we will now be working hard towards levelling the pitch in advance of the 2024/25 season.
“To achieve this, we need your help. We need to raise the funds to complete the levelling and drainage requirements.
“We are expecting a quote and plan of works from contractors imminently, however we expect the costs of this to be in excess of six figures.”
Bonnyrigg Rose in action at New Dundas Park earlier thsi season
Bonnyrigg Rose has issued the following statement today in response to SPRL disciplinary hearing
During our recent AGM we gave an update relating to our pitch and licence status
In partnership with the Community Club our ambition is to replace the grass at NDP with a synthetic surface
The rationale behind the change of surface would be to allow the park to be used in all weather and in partnership with the Community Club
This would enable the ground to be used 7 days per week
revenue for the club and providing facilities for the extensive waiting list of children keen to play football at Grassroots level
When the club first became aware of the new criteria for entry to the SPFL we in conjunction with a leading Sports Consultancy have worked through various options to level the playing surface and to meet the minimum SFA Bronze Standard criteria required for a club to play in SPFL 2
a tender process followed to a point where funding permitting we have a letter of intent placed with a specialist contractor to construct a new artificial pitch in the Summer 25
Contingency options for levelling the pitch to meet the minimum permissible gradients are being considered for natural grass
Ground sharing is also being considered as option to ensure we remain within SPFL 2
Following the SFA decision to downgrade the clubs licence from Bronze to Entry level due to the pitch gradient we no longer meet the bronze level requirement for SPFL 2
we were called to attend a formal disciplinary meeting with the SPFL Tuesday 12th November 2024
The outcome of that meeting is the club has been issued with a 6-point deduction with immediate effect
We are currently reviewing our options for grounds to appeal the outcome of the meeting
At a hearing yesterday (Tuesday 12 November
2024) an SPFL Disciplinary Tribunal imposed the following sanctions for the Club’s failure to maintain a Bronze level Licence:
(iii) The club was directed that no later than 31 January 2025 it provides details to the SPFL Board of the funding arrangements and programme of works to allow the club to undertake pitch levelling works in Summer 2025
Our focus and objectives remain the same – to regain our Bronze licence status within New Dundas Park
taken a step back over the last few days to review how we can best achieve this
We have today put together an independent working group to continue our efforts and drive forward the improvement works to ensure our compliance with the current SPFL rules through levelling our playing surface
This has some committee representation but it is being run independently so that we get the best outcome for all
This also allows us to continue to operate the football side as normal and give Calum and the team all the support we can to help them succeed on the pitch
There is an absolute commitment from the working group to meaningfully inform and engage supporters over the coming months
We are committed to playing in the SPFL and wish to convey that we are doing everything within our power to meet the licensing and league requirements
Over the last 5 years we have spent in excess of £220,000 on upgrades to our facilities within the ground to ensure we meet the criteria for Bronze level licencing (such as our floodlights
We are committed to achieving the Bronze standard for our pitch
This is a community club trying really hard to compete in a professional league

Midfielder Sarah Gibb discusses the importance of Scottish Cup success for the women of steel
“The Scottish Cup means absolutely everything to the squad,” Gibb explained
“You never know how many chances you’ll have to lift silverware in your career
There’s always financial disadvantages between the full-time and part-time teams in the SWPL
but cup competitions are one-off matches where you have the opportunity to defy the odds and reach stages where you’re competing for silverware
“This weekend will be a massive test for us
but in no way are we expecting a simple route to the next round
They will be motivated and determined to cause a cup upset
and we have to ensure that we have prepared in the correct manner to achieve a positive result
Motherwell overcame four-sides before succumbing to a closely-fought two-nil defeat to Rangers in the first-ever domestic women’s match to be held at the National Stadium
Celtic loanee Amy Sharkey and Lucy Barclay were both unused substitutes for the eventual champions
with Laura Berry featuring in the latter stages for Rangers in the proceeding final
Paul Brownlie’s side sought to replicate the cup success of the previous season
but their ambitious aspirations failed to live up to expectations
A disappointing run the following year saw the women of steel eliminated at the first hurdle
with a 4-2 defeat to close league rivals Partick Thistle
“The cup exit last year was a sore one,” Gibb noted
but ultimately we weren’t at the standards we knew we were capable of
It is something that the entire squad haven’t forgotten
and we are determined to give a better account of ourselves
We are focused on building back from that disappointing defeat last season
and are ready to put it right this weekend
“We have been performing to a high standard in the league
picking up two back-to-back victories in 2025
and maintaining our position in the top-six of the SWPL table
We’ve been prolific in the final third and defensively sound in our own half
scoring 10-goals and conceding none from our last two-games
but we understand that we need to be consistent in our performances
“The game against Bonnyrigg could prove to be a difficult afternoon if we don’t start the game on the front foot
but the atmosphere in training has been positive
We’ve had a few players back from injury and a couple new additions in the squad
so we are really coming together as a team
“The atmosphere within the dressing room has been unbelievable
who are there to support you through the good and bad times on the pitch
and we are all heading into the game this weekend full of confidence.”
The K-Park faithful have turned out in their numbers to support the women of steel this season
and Gibb is hopeful that a strong home following could help support their efforts of achieving a place in the next round of the Scottish Cup
“The supporters have been great so far this season,” Gibb said
“We’ve had a really strong following at K-Park
We are looking forward to seeing you all in East Kilbride this weekend
and are ready to give a performance deserving of your support
“We hope to see you all there.”

Motherwell Football Club can confirm the Club Board of Directors have very reluctantly accepted the resignation of Stuart Kettlewell today
Stuart approached Chief Executive Brian Caldwell on Monday morning to explain why he wished to resign
Stuart explained that some of the personal abuse was now affecting his family
to the point where they didn’t wish to attend games
he felt it would be best if he tendered his resignation
Since being appointed manager in February 2023
the highest of any Motherwell manager since Stuart McCall
narrowly missing out on top-six football in his first three months in charge
when Motherwell went ten league games without defeat
he guided the club back to Hampden for the first time in six years in the Premier Sports Cup and has the team sitting fifth in the league currently
All of this was achieved despite the sale of a number of key players for substantial transfer fees
“It’s really sad that Stuart felt that the time was right to move on,” Chief Executive Brian Caldwell said
“He had an exceptional record and has generated an impressive amount of transfer income for the club
“He has been a critical factor in the development of Motherwell Academy Graduates
as well as developing young loan players during his tenure
I was very disappointed to learn the effect this was having on his family and how he was feeling
every one of whom gives their all for the club
“We therefore had no option but to reluctantly accept his resignation in the best interests of Stuart and his family
The club wishes to thank Stuart for his hard work and total dedication during his time at the club
We wish him and his family all the very best for the future
Assistant Manager Stephen Frail will take charge of the team for Sunday’s match
The club will make no further comment at this time

After teeing up her teammate for the opener
Rice soon etched her name on the scoresheet
curling a magnificent free-kick into the top-left corner to seal a commanding two-goal cushion at the half-time break
Laura Berry racked up her 16th league goal early into the second-half
reacting sharply to volley home the rebound from Bailley Collins’ long-range strike
Collins dipping effort from distance rattled the face of the Montrose crossbar before ricocheting invitingly towards the striker’s feet
and Berry drilled home from close-range with a first-time right-footed volley
Laura McCartney wrapped up an assured performance on the North-East coast
chasing down what appeared to be a lost cause long-ball
The midfielder caught the Montrose stopper in no-man’s land before dispatching a precise low-finish through the keeper’s outstretched leg

The manager gives his thoughts on a late defeat in Perth
Two late goals from St Johnstone meant Motherwell tasted defeat at McDiarmid Park for the second time in a week
The Steelmen led from the third minute but were undone by two set-plays with five minutes to go
The away side got off to the best possible start when with only 30 seconds on the clock
Sven Sprangler knocked a the ball away with his arm inside the box and the officials finally reached the correct decision
Andy Halliday kept his cool and sent Fisher the wrong way

combining well with Tawanda Maswanhise but the Zimbabwean couldn’t find the target from just outside the box
New signing Ellery Balcombe was called into action midway through the first half
palming away Victor Griffiths effort before Shane Blaney prodded the ball clear
a Motherwell side that had been on the front foot
Tawanda Maswanhise and debutant Luke Armstrong had decent chances but failed to test Fisher in the St Johnstone goal
Balcombe had a good double save to deny Carey then Sidibeh
The home side drew level with five minutes to go after a corner was recycled by Carey which allowed Taylor Steven to fire in Nicky Clark’s layoff
At that point a draw might have been a fair result but the home side had other ideas
a corner wasn’t properly dealt with and Jozo Mikulic was on hand to fire in from close
Defender Dominic Thompson has signed a short-term deal until the end of the season
A star of the prestigious Hale End academy
Thompson rose through the youth ranks at the Gunners before signing his first professional contract at Arsenal in June 2018
He soon traded sides of the English capital

“I’m excited to be here in Scotland,” Thompson said
“I wanted to continue playing regular first-team football
and the opportunity to join Motherwell and play in the Scottish Premiership was an exciting prospect for myself personally
“The manager has a real track record of developing players and enhancing their qualities on the pitch
and I felt that Motherwell would be the perfect place for me to develop my game.”
“This is another positive addition,” manager Stuart Kettlewell added
“Dominic is still a relatively young defender
who has already made a considerable amount of appearances across all levels of the English footballing pyramid
and technically skilled both going forward and when defending
We are looking forward to seeing Dominic in action this season.”

Forfar Athletic continue on their travels this coming weekend to face Bonnyrigg Rose at New Dundas Park
The Midlothian outfit currently sit ten points ahead of the ‘Loons’ in the William Hill League2 table

a solitary goal success away from home in late September
being followed by a 5-1 victory on home soil in mid December

PREVIEW All going well the ‘Loons’ return to William Hill League2 action on Saturday when Bonnyrigg Rose are the visitors to the Alpha Projects Stadium @ Station Park
When Jim Weir returned to the Station Park manager’s role in mid November
he certainly did not envisage that by mid December he would only have taken control of one competitive game
but the vagaries of the Scottish winter weather means that is the case
All connected with club look forward however to what will eventually be the league debut for the management team with even keener anticipation
as a new mode of positivity would appear to be the case
Jim admits that it has been a frustrating period for Gavin and himself
the remainder of the coaching staff and the players
especially in the wake of the Scottish cup success over Stirling Albion
In the interim and of course totally out with the Athies control the gap at the bottom of the table has been extended to the six point mark
However that is not a statistic that gives the manager sleepless nights
Jim has impressed to the players since the minute that he took over the reins that he feels the club are in a false position in the league at present and there are still 69 points up for grabs with as far as Forfar Athletic are concerned only just over a third of the season completed
Jim realises that the visit of the in form Bonnyrigg outfit under the stewardship of Calum Elliot
undefeated in their last six league games will provide a stiff test of his side’s credentials
but he chooses to emphasise the positive features of the past fortnight
A couple of players who might have been struggling to make the Stranraer trip last week have recovered from illness and injury
while he has had another four excellent training sessions with a full compliment of players
Added to that a fair number of the squad got a run out in a hastily arranged closed door friendly on Tuesday past against East of Scotland League side Jeanfield Swifts
Back to tomorrow’s fixture and Marc McCallum will begin his quest to complete those twenty odd game to make him the club’s leading appearance holder ‘between the sticks’ taking over the mantle of club legend Stewart Kennedy in the process
while Russell McLean the hat-trick hero in the cup tie will hope to carry on his goal scoring exploits
A Nathan Cannon counter in the 54th minute of the contest sealed victory for the ‘Loons’ at New Dundas Park in late September
Tomorrow’s referee is experienced Grade One official Peter Stuart
Hopefully despite the proximity to Christmas and all that entails
the home support will turn out in reasonable numbers to lend their backing on the day as a new and as all are aware highly important era as far as league football is concerned for the club dawns

The Tartan Pooch Parlour has been given permission to open on the first floor of the Bonnyrigg Rose Community Centre building which is also home to a facilities for the adjacent community pitch
An application for a change of use from the football club use to the grooming business said the first floor which had previously been used as a residence has lain empty for five years
And they revealed the new dog parlour has a ‘no barking policy’ as they made their case for the business on the site
representatives of the applicant Claire Wraight Robertson said: “The client operates a policy of no barking in the parlour and has staff members who assist the dogs in managing this
“The recreation ground adjacent to the parlour
allows for dogs to walk through at any time of day
Additionally a local football club utilises the playing fields and 4g astro-turf pitch at the weekends and weekday evenings
“As such the level of noise pollution from the proposed premises will be no greater than that which already exists on the site.”
The parlour will operate from Tuesdays to Saturdays between 8am and 5pm with all visitors by appointment only
Giving the change of use the go ahead planners said it would bring a vacant part of the building into use and would not restrict or block access to the wider community facilities
They said there had been no objections lodged to the proposals adding: “The proposed use will not conflict with the overall objectives of open space policy
nor will it affect the operation of the community pitch. The principle of the building being used as a dog groomer is acceptable.”
