UK drill star Digga D has been sentenced to three years and 11 months’ imprisonment for supplying 45kg of cannabis after he was arrested on an Instagram livestream. The 24-year-old musician, whose real name is Rhys Herbert, was arrested at a property in Bracebridge Heath, near Lincoln
He previously pleaded guilty to two charges relating to the importation and supply of the Class B drug
was arrested while livestreaming on Instagram
prosecutors said Herbert played a role in supplying up to 60kg of cannabis
He appeared at Lincoln Crown Court on Friday via video-link from HMP Wormwood Scrubs
where Judge Simon Hirst told him he was “satisfied” the rapper had been in possession of 50.65kg of cannabis and had sold at least 45kg for profit
The judge was sure Herbert supplied drugs over a period of seven months between January 2023 and July 2023
of which he will spend up to half in custody
who previously told the court he had used the drug since he was 12 years old
has been in custody since he was arrested in February last year
The judge told Herbert: “I am satisfied you were involved in supplying at least 45kg
It is agreed you had a significant role on the basis you expected significant financial advantage
"On occasions others were involved in the operation of returning and collecting cannabis
The level of the offending is so serious that there must be a sentence of imprisonment.”
Prosecutor Aaron Dinnes told the sentencing hearing that Herbert had six convictions for 13 previous offences
which included possession of a blade and violent disorder
said: “This is absolutely a first offence in terms of drug supply
this is not really a case of somebody who had a large number of people
It was a single occasion he directed one person to pick up some drugs
“The defendant has been away now since February of last year
to this young man’s life in respect of his work which is that of a performer and a writer to some degree of international notoriety and following
very sad and disappointing that he has had at the very least a year of his productive working life behind bars
he’s actually a contributor to the public.”
The court heard a letter from Herbert’s mother suggested that since being in custody
her son had been reading the Bible daily and was “remorseful for what he had done”
said: “Rhys Herbert has already admitted to his role in the importation and supply of large quantities of cannabis; now a judge has reviewed all of the evidence and determined he played a significant role in this operation
“As soon as we became aware of the various messages and information held on Herbert’s phone
detectives began to compile a wealth of evidence that proved his involvement was irrefutable
Drugs and the associated criminality they bring devastates communities and we will continue to identify and arrest those responsible who engage in this activity.”

the Alfreton-based firm led by Andrew Crawford and backed by investment manager Downing
has revealed several freehold acquisitions
The company has increased the size of its pubs’ freehold estate by around 50% to 30 pubs
including an acquisition of a portfolio of five pubs in June 2023
from one of the UK’s largest tied pub landlords
that the group had operated on a tied-leasehold basis for over ten years
The new pubs in the portfolio are The Talbot in Heath Hayes
the Hand & Heart in Nottingham city centre
The firm has also bought five pubs from Stonegate
the Millers Arms in Lincoln and the Ranmoor Inn in Sheffield
Downing also provided the funds to refinance the Group’s bank debt from NatWest in May 2023
Downing says it has set aside a “significant amount” of capital for further acquisitions and investment
with no near to medium-term requirement to raise funding from third-party lenders
Despite a substantial number of pubs being available in the market
the Pub People Group says it is focussed on acquisitions where it believes it can deploy capital investment to rejuvenate underinvested or undermanaged pubs to achieve minimum net weekly sales of £10,000
The firm says it has continued to trade strongly
with year-to-date revenues and EBITDA ahead of the business plan and the recently acquired pubs trading ahead of their initial expectations
Crawford said: “The recent acquisitions and investment underlines our commitment to expanding our high-quality estate of pubs
I am very excited to progress our discussions for further acquisitions in the coming months
which will support the Group’s bid to become a market leader in its chosen regions
which will allow me and my team to take the Group into the next phase of its evolution.”
Pub People chairman Mark Crowther added: “Since joining the Group last year
I have been very impressed with Andy and Sarah’s experience and market knowledge
The Pub People team has performed strongly and helped increase the size of the Group’s freehold estate by c.50% in under a year
I am confident that the Group will continue to expand as opportunities become available
thus creating a high-quality leading regional pub business.”
added: “Pub People has performed strongly despite the current economic uncertainty and conditions
and its success is a testament to the focus of its management team
The Group’s management team and Downing will continue to evaluate new acquisitions and investment opportunities
and we are committed to substantially increasing the size of the Group’s freehold estate and geographical footprint
We believe we can continue to execute deals that are attractive for sellers and us and especially for the local communities these pubs serve.”
Grimsby Town Cricket Club beat Bracebridge Heath by two wickets at Cross O’Cliff Court after a match-winning
ninth-wicket partnership between Rory Ronaldson and Liam Redmond
breaking the existing one that had stood since 2003
Grimsby won the toss and invited Bracebridge to bat first on a warm and humid day
Town started poorly as the home side raced to 63 without loss in the 11th over
Left-handed opening batsman Max Moor made 56 from 87 balls
Opening bowler Dan Cliffe was disappointed to see him dropped in the slips after Hayden Tice had seen him put down off his bowling at mid-on
Ronaldson had better fortune when the other opener Alex Moor (21) pulled a short ball from him to mid-wicket and Toby Blake took a well-judged
Medium pacer Ronaldson brought some control to the run rate
Captain Steve Crossley introduced his spinners and Redmond had Max Moor bowled as he attempted a slog sweep
This left the home side 124 for two in the 28th over
Off-spinner Andrew White was Grimsby’s most successful bowler
White had Bracebridge’s overseas player Dan Stanley caught behind by Crossley for 14
He then took the important wicket of Alex Willerton
who was beginning to look dangerous as he made 54 from 62 balls
made his highest league score of the season
but when he drove the ball powerfully back towards White
Willerton was frustrated as he knew his side was short of batting strength
Grimsby’s fielding improved as the innings progressed
with Rob Brice executing a direct hit to run out Alex Clegg and taking a well-judged catch at mid-off to dismiss Will Davies off the bowling of Kasun Ekanayake
Ekanayake bowled well in tandem with White
with the Sri Lankan taking two for 22 from his seven overs
Town’s reply began badly as their top-order batsmen struggled against the experienced
with only one scoring shot coming from the bat
Crossley and Dave Unsworth (16) put on 47 runs for the fourth wicket in nine overs as Grimsby fought back
Unsworth was caught behind by Sam Greenwood off-spinner Alex Moor
but Crossley was looking in good form as he attacked the change bowlers
Crossley scored freely as he made 42 from only 44 balls
including three sixes over the leg side when the bowlers dropped short
meeting a ball from left-arm spinner Joe Mansford on the full but smashing it straight to Alfie Bray
Crossley’s dismissal left Grimsby 97 for five at the half way stage and 12 overs later they were 132 for eight and looked in trouble
Redmond and Ronaldson played in a disciplined fashion
Ronaldson hit 42 from 55 balls and Redmond
pulling the ball well and driving when the opportunity arose
Bracebridge brought back Carter for his last three overs
but he was unable to break the partnership and lacked support at the other end
Ronaldson stroked Carter through the covers for four
as Grimsby eased to victory with seven balls to spare and claimed their first away win of the season

An illustrative masterplan shows where the homes will be built
MORE than 1000 homes will be built in the village of Bracebridge Heath, near Lincoln, after proposals from the Church Commissioners were granted planning permission
A total of 20 per cent of the 1087 houses will be classed as affordable
while new transport links and public spaces
The plans would create “a vibrant new community in the Lincoln area
in line with the vision set out in the local plan for new high-quality places to live”
the strategic-land principal manager at the Commissioners
“Retirement housing will provide much needed places for seniors to live
Planning permission was granted on 5 April
The 44-hectare site is located three miles south of Lincoln
and will include a purpose-built residential care home
A “mobility hub” will include electric vehicle charging points
while new footpath and cycle links are planned to improve accessibility to Lincoln city centre and the countryside
reported that the Commissioners’ original plans had received nearly 40 objections
“including a lack of sustainable transport
insufficient infrastructure and road networks
over-development of the area and a lack of green space”
The number of homes has been reduced from 1123
The Central Lincolnshire Local Plan seeks to increased housing in the wider area by more than 30,000
A survey and consultations carried out for the Bracebridge Heath Neighbourhood Plan
highlighted concern to maintain the “village feel” of the area
but also drew attention to a lack of affordable housing for young people in the village
and a “growing need for specialist accommodation” for the growing older population
Bracebridge Heath currently has a population of 5788 and is served by a parish church
In 2021, the report of the Archbishops’ Commission on Housing, Church and Community called on the Church to use its land assets — it held 6000 acres with “development potential” — to “promote more truly affordable homes” (News, 26 February 2021)
While the Commissioners were legally bound not to deliver more affordable housing than a local-authority policy required
the Commission suggested that the Church should “think laterally” and enable the Commissioners to make “sacrificial and prophetic acts of generosity”
It said that many new homes were “out of reach for much of the local population
due to the current definition of ‘affordability’”
concluding that “neither the 30 per cent volume policy
A spokesperson for the Commissioners said on Tuesday that the definition of affordability for the Bracebridge Heath homes was “in accordance with National Planning Policy Framework [NPPF] and Local Plan Policy”
The NPPF defines affordability as “sold at a discount of at least 20 per cent below local market value”
