there will also be live music from Billy Gregory Designed & built by Other Media but what Briton Ferry have done is nothing short of sensational For so long Ferry have always felt like the bridesmaids rather than the bride Finishing second behind Abergavenny in 2022 losing to Wrexham in the playoff final a year later all after having been demoted from the Welsh Premier during the Adran rebrand It did feel like the odds were stacked against them After winning the Adran South for a second consecutive season Ferry faced Llandudno in the playoff final completed their journey back to the top tier When embarking on your first campaign back in the topflight staying up is more often than not the number one target Incredible performance after incredible performance meant the Reds finished second The man at the helm for most of this run has been Rhys James and he reflected on how special this journey has been the objective was to win the Adran South and get promoted and that was something we set out to do really early on to do “That was my job when I came in as manager was to get this club back into the Adran Premier That expectation was always set on the group the expectation was obviously a little different and that was to just try and remain in the league and these players have gone above and beyond every single week “It’s not just one-off magical results like beating Wrexham at the Racecourse they haven’t been smash and grab performances it’s not just one-off games that have defined their season it’s been impressive result after impressive result Beating both Cardiff City and Swansea City at Old Road and drawing with both away from home Beating Hollywood Wrexham at the Racecourse and a memorable victory against TNS at Park Hall Ferry have forced people to stand up and take notice of them over this past year she’s known for a while just how much talent this squad had “We’ve known for the last few years that we’re good enough to be in the Adran Premier and it’s just about showing to people what we can do and there’s a real desire about how we do things This year everything has fallen into place We could delve into the tactical minutiae of the Adran Premier runners-up or focus on the contributions of some of the league’s brightest talents one thing sticks out above everything else While every team will hark on about how together they are and how close-knit they are on and off the pitch For players like Powell who have been at the club for a while it’s something that just comes so naturally The evolution of Cardiff City, as Bluebirds win third straight Adran Premier title we don’t have the perks that a lot of other clubs around us have You can’t describe how it feels to be a part of this club “We have little arguments on the pitch sure but it’s because everyone wants it so much and everyone wants to do the best for the club Anyone in this team has the ability to go elsewhere if they wanted to and that rubs off on everyone in the community from players to staff to those behind the scenes.” it’s not just a togetherness in the women’s team It flows from the men’s setup to the women’s setup To play for Briton Ferry means something very different compared to playing for anyone else in this league and that’s probably the best phone call he’s ever made “From the men’s side to the academy to the community everyone is so respectful in terms of what they want You do see clubs that neglect the women’s side Andy Dyer finished a game before our final game and mentioned us straight away “You can see that respect and they understand the importance of having other arms of the club And while there is so much to celebrate about this season there is a tinge of sadness to this Ferry story because some key protagonists have taken their final bow on their stage James has now managed his final game for the side that means so much to him It’s difficult to think of a Briton Ferry team without him on the side lines but he says it’s time to focus on other matters that are closer to home Young Wales stars ready and prepared to take on Europe’s best “My reasons for leaving are nothing to do with the club The club have been excellent with me from the minute I walked through the door It’s just for personal reasons my departure in regard to my health so I’m taking some time out to look after myself a little better “It’s quite a stressful job as you can imagine in this division especially battling against strong teams like Cardiff City and Wrexham so I’m just taking time to look after myself.” Alison Witts and Lexi Clayton have called time on their careers Both have played a huge part in Ferry’s rise on the pitch their losses will be felt a lot more inside the dressing room “The changing room is massive for us and they’re both big personalities We haven’t seen much of Lexi on the pitch this season but she’s been a massive part as to why we’re here in the first place from our rise in tier two to winning promotion “Alison has been getting the goals for us this season and the last one what we’ve noticed the most is the off the pitch stuff and obviously on the pitch they’re a loss as well Next season will feel very different for this team Every club wants to finish higher than the previous season that would be winning the title and booking a spot in club football’s greatest competition While a task that monumental can be a bit daunting for some We’ve done things this year that nobody expected us to do A couple of results go the other way this season and maybe we could have been a lot closer this year The goal is to always do as best as you can so we have to turn up and try again next season.” attention on next season can be laid to rest but there is a feeling around this team; why not them What Briton Ferry have shown this season is how far a clear club ethos They have been a breath of fresh air in an Adran Premier that was beginning to feel very monotonous (Featured Image: Lewis courtesy of Ffion Price secured victory on the last day of the league season The visitors had some chances early in the game but it was the Bluebirds who took the lead in the 23rd minute Lily Billingham made space with some outstanding footwork to lay it back to Walklett on the edge of the box who fired it into the bottom left corner Briton Ferry quickly responded through Megan Kearle whose long-range volley hit the back of the net to bring the score level The Bluebirds continued to push forwards looking for another goal and in the 40th minute Price’s long ball was controlled excellently by Barry who drove into the opposition box and drilled it home to regain City’s lead the Bluebirds almost extended their advantage but Billingham’s long-range effort was superbly tipped onto the crossbar and kept out by Ferry’s keeper Molly Kehoe’s right footed effort was denied through another excellent save Briton Ferry equalised midway through the second half when an out swinging corner was met by Tija Richardson City continued to believe and found the lead again through Price in the 88th minute which was enough to secure all three points for the Bluebirds at Cardiff City Stadium FINAL SCORE: CARDIFF CITY 3-2 BRITON FERRY LLANSAWEL S4C have selected the JD Cymru Premier fixture between Briton Ferry Llansawel and Newtown for live broadcast on Tuesday 11 March (KO each sides first game of the 2024/25 Play-Off Conference.  The Robins raced in to a two-goal lead through Aaron Williams and Jason Oswell in the first 23 minutes but Corey Hurford pulled a goal back in the first minute of stoppage time Experienced striker Luke Bowen equalised in the 69th minute with the spoils shared Newtown came out on top in the first clash between the two sides with Aaron Williams scoring the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win in September Ferry got their revenge in December at Old Road with Andy Dyer’s men coming from behind to win Williams scored again against Ferry but Corey Hurford equalised and Jasper Payne scored a late winner after Ryan Pryce had been sent off.  JD Cymru Premier European Play-Off semi-final confirmed JD Cymru Leagues April Player and Manager Premier European Play-Off Semi-Finals explained The New Saints crowned JD Cymru Premier champions JD Cymru Premier format confirmed for 2026/27 It’s been an Adran Premier season full of twists and turns but it ended with Cardiff City winning the title for a third straight season plenty of other clubs have made tremendous strides here is our Adran Premier Team of the Season Goalkeeper – Molly Arnesen (Barry Town United) There have been so many good goalkeepers in the league this season it feels like Arnesen pulls of a wonder save every week for the Linnets she shares the Golden Glove with a number of other keepers but her pure shot stopping ability gives her the nod in this team Honourable Mention – Ceryn Chamberlain (Cardiff City) She may never get the credit she deserves because of how much City win they would not be winning title after title Centre-Back – Shannon Evans (Cardiff City) it’s still a little mad to think Evans played as a striker for so long The way she covers ground and the way she can make last-ditch tackles is simply effortless Evans has to be considered for signing of the season should really be nominated for Player of the Season Honourable Mention – Rebecca Mathias (Aberystwyth Town) It’s not been an easy season for those at Aberystwyth but Mathias perfectly encapsulates the never say die attitude at the club She has been so consistent and helped drag her team away from safety in the second part of the campaign Centre-Back – Brooke Llewellyn (Briton Ferry) Her recovery runs and the ability to catch up with most attackers in this league is very unique A superb debut Adran Premier season for Llewellyn Honourable Mention – Lowri Ridings (Briton Ferry) I have to give Ridings so much credit for Ferry’s performances too When it comes to natural born leaders in this league Her communication qualities are second to none and Ferry are very lucky to have her as their leader Webb has enjoyed a very good first season in North Wales with TNS She will be key to how TNS progress next season Honourable Mention – Grace Corne (Barry Town United) Corne has certainly added something different to this Barry defence Her professionalism shines through in how she plays and leads especially with a young defender like Angharad Beman by her side Right Wing-Back – Maria Francis-Jones (The New Saints) Eyebrows were most certainly raised when Francis-Jones left Manchester City to join TNS you can see that she operates at a completely different level to so many others in this league and her delivery from set-pieces and crosses are dangerous every single time Honourable Mention – Lisa Owen (Cardiff City) The wing-back has had to wait her turn to have a run in the starting eleven but she’s grabbed that opportunity with both hands and she sets the standard in this Bluebirds team How Briton Ferry defied the odds in the Adran Premier Left Wing-Back – Ffion Price (Cardiff City) It feels like Price has accomplished everything already in this league but to win the Golden Boot from a left wing-back spot is simply sensational We know how dangerous she is from dead ball situations but she is also able to run directly at her opponents and I can’t think of any player in this league who would relish a battle against her Honourable Mention – Emily Freeman (Barry Town United) Freeman is maybe a player who doesn’t get the credit she deserves Freeman plays with no fear and is always eager to offer encouragement to teammates at any opportunity Centre-Midfield – Tija Richardson (Briton Ferry) I mentioned that Shannon Evans should be considered for signing of the season and Richardson should be right up there with her What she’s given this Ferry side is experience and calmness in the middle of the park she is more than capable of finding the right pass or shoot at the appropriate time Honourable Mention – Kerry Walklett (Cardiff City) If there was an award for Most Improved player The growth that she has shown throughout the season has been heartening to watch in a way and her captaining the Bluebirds towards the end of the season proves just that Centre-Midfield – Lia Lewis (The New Saints) box-to-box midfielders in the Adran Premier this season but more than happy to come back and offer her defence some help when required Lewis has been the constant that they have needed to improve week upon week It’s been yet another solid campaign for Jones in the heart of the Wrexham midfield Jones always wants to move the ball around quickly and also has the ability to score some wonder goals In the build-up to the Bute Energy Welsh Cup final Iddenden explained how she lost her love of football at her old club but you can see how much she’s enjoyed this first season at Wrexham Nine goals and nine assists in the league this season proves that Iddenden can hurt the opposition in a number of different ways making her one of the league’s trickiest customers Honourable Mention – Ava Suckley (Wrexham) Iddenden’s attacking partner has to get a mention Eleven goals is a great return for Suckley who only managed to find the back of the net twice last season Her performances have also taken the pressure off the likes of Rosie Hughes which has really benefitted Steve Dale’s team Centre Forward – Chantelle Teare (The New Saints) At one stage it felt like Teare was scoring every week for TNS it feels like she’s cracked the Adran Premier code and has torn defences apart at times and her place in this Team of the Season is richly deserved Honourable Mention – Lexi Jones (The New Saints) Jones has enjoyed a terrific season at Park Hall She has so many traits that defenders hate in this league and can just turn defenders inside and out in a blink of an eye Another young player who has shined this season has been Barry It took her a little bit of time to adjust to the Adran Premier She plays with a swagger and a confidence that is unmatched by many and she has scored so many important goals in City’s charge to the championship Honourable Mention – Aimee Deacon (Swansea City) Many at Swansea will want to put this season behind them quickly but Deacon can take a lot of heart from her displays Especially when Stacey John-Davis and Katy Hosford were injured Deacon stepped up to the mantle and played like a player beyond her years (Featured Image: John Smith/FAW) The Bluebirds have already secured the league title for a third consecutive season and will lift the trophy at full-time head coach Iain Darbyshire said: "We're really looking forward to this weekend's match against Briton Ferry Llansawel It's been a long season and this is a chance to celebrate our successes in front of our fantastic support The players are all up for it and we're ready to go "It's important to focus on our performance and that we don't just see this as a celebration we see it as an opportunity to impress and for the players it's a chance to stake their claim to start in the Bute Energy Welsh Cup season and every game we have played against them has been difficult so we know what we have to do and it’s about putting our plan into action “The support from the fans has been unreal this season and they’ve contributed to what we’ve done Hopefully we can put on a show for them to make our appreciation clear.”  Briton Ferry Llansawel have shown their ability to compete at the top of the table Rhys James’ side began the campaign by showing their credentials scoring an impressive 12 goals in the first three games and picking up nine points from games against Aberystwyth Town Further wins in December over Swansea City and the Bluebirds highlighted that they were in the title race The key moment in the competition for top spot came in our last meeting with Ferry as a 2-0 win for City at Old Road proved vital A corner from Ffion Price found its way into the net before Mackenzie Olden fired home a second.  A highlight in the club’s season was their performance at the STōK Cae Ras a fortnight ago when they claimed a 3-1 win over Wrexham in front of a Mother’s Day crowd of more than 2,100 supporters Those three points secured the side’s place in second Briton Ferry Llansawel have plenty of experience in their squad and are well led by their captain Lowri Ridings whilst also having the quality of the likes of Laura-may Walkley Alison Witts and former Bluebird Tija Richardson to call upon.  it has been Megan Kearle that has impressed however having notably netted a brace in a 2-2 draw at home to Wrexham last month After a campaign of huge progress for the side they arrive to entrance will be opposite you at the end of this road Flint Town United secured their JD Cymru Premier status for another season with a 2-1 win away at Aberystwyth Town on Friday night.  Aberystwyth’s relegation was confirmed last weekend and it looked like a pressure had been lifted off the Seasiders who were the better side in the first half – Flint goalkeeper Jack Flint needed to make a triple save to deny them on one occasion.  But it was the Silkmen who took the lead against the run of play on 35 minutes as Ben Wynne drove forward from his own half before unleashing a shot just inside the box which arrowed into the far corner for his first league goal of the campaign.  Flint’s second goal arrived in similar fashion just after the hour mark as this time Elliott Reeves ran with the ball from the half way line before firing past Dave Jones from the edge of the area Reeves had the ball in the net again shortly after from close range Aber halved the deficit in the 87th minute when Jake Phillips’ foul on Abdi Sharif in the box allowed Niall Flint to score from the penalty spot but the Seasiders could not go on to find a late equaliser.  Briton Ferry Llansawel took a huge step towards safety themselves as they earned a 1-0 home win over Connah’s Quay Nomads on Saturday.  The decisive moment proved to be a double substitution for Ferry on 71 minutes when Luke Bowen and Corey Hurford joined the action replacing Tyler Brock and Ellis Sage.  Jasper Payne superbly drove upfield and played in Brock down the right who crossed for Bowen to turn the ball home and make a remarkable instant impact.  The Reds are now six points above the relegation zone with only two games left to play with a significantly better goal difference than 11th-place Newtown too.  It leaves the Robins in severe danger of their first ever relegation from the top-flight with Callum McKenzie’s side losing 2-1 away at Barry Town United on Friday night.  Barry led after 19 minutes as Owen Cuddihy’s cross was headed home by Ollie Hulbert for his 13th league goal of the season while the advantage was doubled just before the hour mark when this time Cuddihy’s delivery was turned into his own net by Newtown winger James Rainbird.  The Robins pulled a goal back in the 90th minute when Jason Oswell flicked Calvin Smith’s cross into the path of Aaron Williams to finish from close range but it was too little too late for the visitors who could have conceded again were it not for a wasteful shot from Hulbert in stoppage time.  Barry are now five points clear at the top of the Play-Off Conference and will secure their play-off spot if they avoid defeat away at Connah’s Quay Nomads in a fortnight.  Penybont confirmed a second-place finish with a 1-0 home win over champions The New Saints on Saturday.  The visitors had the better of the chances as Adam Przybek denied Adam Wilson in the first half before Leo Smith hit the crossbar from distance after the break but it was a moment of quality from James Crole which won the game in the 73rd minute.  Receiving Gabe Kircough’s long ball forward Crole controlled it with his chest before unleashing an unstoppable strike past Connor Roberts just inside the box Bont could even have had a second soon after when Crole delivered a low ball across the face goal but substitute Ioan Phillips was not able to slide it in A second victory over TNS this season secured a highest-ever league finish for Rhys Griffiths’ side who will earn automatic European qualification if the Saints win the JD Welsh Cup Haverfordwest County and Caernarfon Town shared the points in a 1-1 draw at Ogi Bridge Meadow on Saturday.  Haverfordwest broke the deadlock seven minutes after the break when Ben Ahmun headed home from Jacob Owen’s corner.  Caernarfon went up the other end and won a penalty as Kyle McCarthy tripped Louis Lloyd – with the Cofi forward picking himself up to score from the spot.  It also finished level between Bala Town and Cardiff Met who played out a goalless draw at Maes Tegid on Saturday.  Met defender Matt Chubb came closest to scoring as his close-range header struck the post in the first half while Bala finished the game with 10 men after Dan Malone received two yellow cards in the space of nine minutes in the second period.  Barry Town United 2-1 NewtownAberystwyth Town 1-2 Flint Town UnitedCardiff Met 0-0 Bala all three points for the Bluebirds Head coach Iain Darbyshire made one change to the side that defeated Aberystwyth Town last time out with Shannon Evans returning to the starting XI City had the first chance of the afternoon with defender Evans into the action inside the opening three minutes The breakthrough came with just 12 minutes on the clock as Price’s dangerous corner found its way straight into the net The Bluebirds found joy from set-pieces and doubled the lead in the 26th minute before Olden was on-hand to head the ball home Darbyshire’s side managed the game well in the second period with the hosts’ only clearcut chance coming with seven minutes remaining Evans continued her brilliant performance by clearing off the line Next up for the Bluebirds is a home clash against Wrexham on March 9th FINAL SCORE: BRITON FERRY LLANSAWEL 0-2 CARDIFF CITY The Genero Adran Premier fixture between Cardiff City and Briton Ferry Llansawel on Sunday 13 April has been selected points clear at the top of the table with three games remaining but second-place Briton Ferry will hope that there are more twists in the title race to come to allow them a shot at silverware in the capital.  In the three previous meetings between the two sides this season one Cardiff win and one Briton Ferry win.  Pontypridd United ‘over the moon’ to win promotion to Genero Adran Premier Cardiff City defeat Wrexham in Genero Adran U19 national final Pontypridd United promoted to Genero Adran Premier after stunning second half comeback Pontypridd United secure Genero Adran South title Cardiff City secure third successive Genero Adran Premier title Connah’s Quay Nomads secure Genero Adran North title The fixture will take place at the Old Road Welfare Ground on March 2nd head coach Iain Darbyshire said: "We're heading into Phase Two in a really good place We've hit form and have really turned a corner since Christmas We've got some difficult games to come and some challenging tests "Briton Ferry will pose a big challenge for us They're very good at home and we had a really tough game there over the Christmas period They'll be up for it and they'll make it difficult for us They're equipped to hurt us and cause problems but it's up to us to play to our ability and put in a good performance." who has been a standout performer this season added: "I think the overall feeling looking back on Phase One is what a journey we've been on When you look right back to the start of Phase One those results probably helped us to get to where we are now We built that fight and developed the nous to find a way to win when the football wasn't quite clicking It's no secret that we had a large turnover of players and those first few months we had to learn our system and how to operate as a team because that's probably what goes under the radar.  but we had to turn it around and make it work quickly We did that and that's a real credit to everyone Comparing that with the last month of Phase One we're so fluid in the way we play and we have players that can fit in several positions We've learned to bring our style of football into every environment so I think we're in a great place going into Phase Two That's the reason they are where they are in the table Every team in this league are difficult to play against and that's what is so exciting about the Adran Premier It doesn't matter if a team is at the top or the bottom of the league it's always a difficult game and always different because every team has a different style and different environments that they create The lessons we learned in Phase One will really help us going into this game "We feel that momentum and that just gives us a spark to keep going We look back at what we've achieved and how far we've come it's exciting to see what we can be capable of in Phase Two Our performances have gone from strength to strength and the performances have come with it I'm really pleased with my development in Phase One I had never played as a defensive midfielder before so I found it difficult to be confident in my ability at the start of the campaign I was always prepared to give the team what they needed Iain felt that I could add value to the team in that position so I've worked hard to learn it I've worked hard away from matchday with the analysis team and in training to develop I Premier relegation battle on Tuesday night as the two sides played out a 1-1 draw at The Renewable Centre Stadium.  With the two sides level on points ahead of the game it was always going to be a tight contest and it remained goalless until midway through the second half.  It was Ferry substitute Rio Dyer who broke the deadlock just six minutes after coming off the bench as he stole the ball off Calvin Smith on the right of the box and fired into the bottom corner for his first goal for the club.  As the clock ticked down it looked as though that would be enough to earn the Reds three vital points particularly as Newtown had not scored in the final 10 minutes of a game all season but they broke that streak with four minutes left on the clock as Aaron Williams headed home from Craig Williams’ corner to level the encounter.  The Robins remain in the relegation zone with just four games remaining with Ferry sitting above them on goal difference only.  The New Saints moved to within touching distance of a fourth consecutive JD Cymru Premier title after a 2-0 home win over Caernarfon Town on Tuesday night.  who won at Park Hall earlier in the season kept the hosts at bay until first half stoppage time when Phil Mooney turned Ryan Brobbel’s cross into his own net.  It was not until stoppage time in the second half that victory was wrapped up as Rory Holden played a superb through ball to substitute Sion Bradley who finished one-one-one with Ben Hughes to net against his former club.  TNS will secure the title if Penybont drop points against Cardiff Met on Friday night or if that does not happen the Saints need just a point against the Archers in their next game in 10 days’ time.  Barry Town United scored a stoppage-time winner for the second time in five days as they triumphed 2-1 over Aberystwyth Town at Jenner Park.  Ieuan Owen put Barry in front with just 10 minutes on the clock with his third goal in two games as he smashed home a loose ball in the box after Aber failed to clear a corner.  The hosts’ continued to dominate proceedings but somehow did not add to their lead with some poor finishing combined with multiple saves from Dave Jones and last-ditch defending keeping Aber in the game.   The missed opportunities came back to haunt Barry in the 90th minute when the Seasiders found an equaliser through Rico Patterson who rifled in a sweet first-time strike from the edge of the area which found the net via the underside of the crossbar.  There was more late drama to come though as Barry snatched a winner in the 93rd minute when substitute Eliot Richards met Owen’s inviting cross with a downward header which hit the post and went in.  Andy Legg’s side remain five points clear at the top of the Play-Off Conference ahead of Connah’s Quay Nomads who earned a 4-0 win against rivals Flint Town United.  The Silkmen were left wondering how they did not take the lead in the opening 20 minutes as George Ratcliffe made a couple of superb saves to deny Josh Jones either side of Elliott Reeves hitting the post.  It meant that it was against the run of play that the Nomads took the lead in the 22nd minute when Rhys Hughes produced his latest piece of brilliance by cutting inside from the right wing and sending a delightful lob over Jack Flint from the edge of the area.  The lead was doubled on 38 minutes when Max Woodcock opened his Nomads account by meeting Olly Wright’s delivery with a looping header over Flint before Ratcliffe pulled off his best save of the night by denying Reeves from point-blank range on the stroke of half-time.  The Nomads were awarded a penalty just nine minutes into the second half when Harry Owen fouled Callum Bratley inside the area with Hughes stepping up from the spot to score his 13th goal of the season.  A third consecutive league win was wrapped up in the 82nd minute by substitute Sam Durrant who snatched the ball off Jake Phillips before driving into the box and finishing into the far corner.  Barry Town United 2-1 Aberystwyth TownBriton Ferry Llansawel 1-1 NewtownConnah’s Quay Nomads 4-0 Flint Town UnitedThe New Saints 2-0 Caernarfon Town In The New Saints’ purely decorative Aberystwyth Town earned a lifeline in the JD Cymru Premier relegation battle as a brace from captain Jack Thorn helped secure a 3-2 win over Briton Ferry Llansawel at Old Road on Saturday.  put the Seasiders ahead inside just four minutes when he volleyed home after Louis Bradford had sent an overhead kick across goal.  Keiran Williams produced a tidy finish from Caleb Demery’s low cross to draw Ferry level five minutes into the second half but Thorn quickly restored the visitors’ lead by sending a clever looping volley over Will Fuller after the Reds goalkeeper had punched out Iwan Lewis’ corner.  Jonathan Evans added a third for Aber on 70 minutes when Niall Flint flicked on Lewis’ cross into the forward’s path and he produced a composed finish into the bottom corner.  Ferry substitute Jasper Payne reduced the deficit with a close-range header on 78 minutes but Aber held firm late on to see out their first win in five games Antonio Corbisiero’s side remain bottom of the table but are now within five points of safety.  After seeing their game against Caernarfon Town postponed last weekend league leaders The New Saints kicked off their Phase Two campaign with a 3-1 home win over Cardiff Met on Saturday.  The Saints were in front inside two minutes at Park Hall as Ryan Brobbel’s superb defence-splitting pass played in Adam Wilson who finished past Kelland Absalom for his fourth league goal of the season.  Eliot Evans equalised for Met in the 16th minute with a composed finish past Connor Roberts after some neat footwork but TNS edged back in front early in the second half when Dan Williams’ shot was parried and Remi Oteh struck home the rebound from close range.  Danny Davies clinched a sixth straight victory for Craig Harrison’s side 10 minutes later with a first time finish from Josh Pask’s cut back.   TNS are now three points clear at the top of the table with a game in hand after second-place Penybont were held to a goalless draw by Haverfordwest County at the SDM Stadium on Saturday The Bluebirds came closest to finding the net when Ben Fawcett had his close-range header denied by the woodwork in the 18th minute while Bont’s best chance also came in the first half as the ball deflected into Chris Venables’ path but he could only produce a tame effort straight at Zac Jones.  There has now been just one goal scored in three league meetings between the two sides this season perhaps unsurprising as they have the two best defences in the division Penybont travel to TNS next weekend in a potentially decisive game in the title race.  After announcing Andy Legg as their new manager on Friday night Barry Town United made it two wins from two games in Phase Two as they triumphed 3-1 over Flint Town United at Jenner Park on Saturday.  Keenan Patten finished off a sublime passing move from the hosts to break the deadlock after just three minutes but Flint were gifted an equaliser midway through the first half when Barry goalkeeper Liam Armstrong tipped the ball into his own net from Jake Phillips’ long throw.  the Linnets restored the lead seven minutes later as Callum Sainty tapped home on the line after Ben Margetson’s header struck the crossbar Barry wrapped up victory in the second half courtesy of Patten’s second goal of the afternoon a simple close-range finish after Evan Press’ cross had ricocheted kindly into his path.  Legg’s side remain seven points clear at the top of the Play-Off Conference while Flint are still three points above the relegation zone despite a seventh straight defeat away from home.  Caernarfon Town claimed a third successive victory as Josh Lock’s brace inspired a 3-1 win over Bala Town at Maes Tegid on Friday night.  Lock got Caernarfon off to a flying as he calmly slotted home from Matty Hill’s square ball with just seven minutes on the clock and the Cofis doubled their lead in the 14th minute when Adam Davies provided a simple finish from two yards out after Joel Torrance spilled Paulo Mendes’ cross.  Caernarfon continued to threaten throughout the game – with Torrance denying them on multiple occasions – but Bala halved the deficit with 10 minutes remaining as Louis Robles flicked a header home from Osebi Abadaki’s cross.  There was to be no late equaliser for the hosts though with Caernarfon sealing victory in stoppage time when Lock’s shot from distance squirmed past Torrance into the bottom corner.  Connah’s Quay Nomads earned their first win of 2025 as Jack Kenny’s first half strike proved enough to see off Newtown 1-0 at the Essity Stadium on Saturday.  The decisive moment came in the 18th minute when Kenny who returned from suspension to make his first appearance in over a month Billy Paynter’s side could have won by more were it not for Julian Schwarzer Garcia in the Newtown goal with the Philippines international tipping over Rhys Hughes’ dipping free-kick and denying Ben Nash at point blank range.  Bala Town 1-3 save from Ceryn Chamberlain The Bluebirds came agonisingly close to a leveller finding the head of the leaping Shannon Evans which crashed off the bar and cleared away Price sent the ball deep into the area which went over all the heads in the box including the goalkeeper and into the back of the net to enter half time all square The home side retook the lead when Laura May Walkley played the The visitors come into the clash top of the league on goal difference after an unbeaten start to the Adran Premier season After defeaing Aberystwyth Town 4-0 on the opening weekend they backed it up with emphatic 3-0 and 5-0 wins against Wrexham and Cardiff Met respectively.  they claimed a 1-1 draw away to The New Saints which saw goalkeeper Courtney Young sent off after 60 minutes and without a backup goalkeeper on the bench manager Rhys James opted to give centre-back Olivia Kett-White Alison Witts gave them the lead after 33 minutes which was cancelled out through Molly Harvard.  A Jones but Jonathan Hood equalised for Lido to see it end 1-1 in normal time.  Morriston goalkeeper Steven Cann was the shootout hero for his side in the last round but he missed his side’s fifth with by Courtney Young in the Briton Ferry goal Davies then came close to opening her account for the Swans skipping into the box before driving a low effort at goal that was held by the keeper The hosts continued to probe for a way through  before the break Pinder’s excellent run across the touchline allowed her to pull-back for John-Davis but the forward’s effort didn’t challenge Courtney Young in the Ferry goal Davies had another opportunity just after the restart when she found time at the back post before cutting inside to bend an effort just past the post The well organised Briton far this season scoring one goal in a 2-2 draw with Bala Town at the end of September Tom Walters was pivotal in Ferry’s promotion winning-season last year finishing as their top goalscorer after netting on 14 occasions while also picking up 12 assists in the league The forward has spent his entire career in the JD Cymru South up until this season where he spent the 2016-17 season before linking up with Goytre United The striker was with the Goyt for four seasons before departing for a new challenge with Llantwit Major This would prove to be an inspired decision as he enjoyed a fantastic season at the Windmill Ground finishing as top scorer with 24 in 29 matches as the Major finished top of the league The forward then moved to Ferry the following season scoring 14 league goals in his debut campaign to help the side finish third in the table Walters reached the JD Cymru Premier for the first time a year later with his goals helping the team to win promotion to the Premier appearances so far this season The winger also has international experience where he made a late substitute appearance in a 2-0 defeat to England in March 2021 Briton Ferry Llansawel earned a crucial win in the JD Cymru Premier relegation battle on Saturday as they triumphed 4-0 over Aberystwyth Town at Old Road The Reds had not won at home all season going into the game but took the lead in the 22nd minute when Luke Bowen met Ryan George’s cross with a looping header before Tom Walters doubled the advantage shortly before half-time as he tapped home Tyler Brock’s pass across goal.  Ferry were comfortable at 2-0 up and Aberystwyth rarely threatened to get back into the game but teenager Caleb Demery came off the bench to score twice late on and wrap up the win for the hosts.  After driving into the box from the right hand side he calmly finished at the second time of asking in the 88thminute before producing a clinical strike across goal into the bottom corner in stoppage time.  The win saw Ferry leapfrog Aber in the table – with the Seasiders now bottom of the standings – and Andy Dyer’s side are now only three points adrift of safety with two games in hand over 10th-place Flint Town United.  The Silkmen were beaten for the third successive game as they suffered a 4-1 defeat away to Haverfordwest County on Saturday.  Ben Ahmun gave the Bluebirds a fifth-minute lead when he converted from the penalty spot following a foul from Jack Flint on Owain Jones inside the area while Greg Walters doubled the advantage 11 minutes later as he tapped home from close range for his goal since returning to the club.  Flint halved the deficit just after the half hour mark through Florian Yonsian’s cool finish but a pair of clinical finishes in the second half from Haverfordwest substitute Ben Fawcett ensured that Tony Pennock’s came away with all three points and extended their unbeaten run in the league to eight matches.  League leaders Penybont returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion as they triumphed 5-1 away at Caernarfon Town on Saturday.   It was a free-flowing move which got Bont up and running in the 22nd minute as James Crole squared for Chris Venables to slam home while Crole was again the provider in first half stoppage time as his pass across goal was finished by Nathan Wood at the back post.  Crole and Wood combined again for the latter to score his second of the day with a one-on-one finish shortly after the hour mark before Paulo Mendes denied Bont a clean sheet with a close range header three minutes later.  Gabe Kircough soon restored the visitors’ three-goal cushion with a header of his own while Crole concluded a fine individual performance by getting on the scoresheet with a composed finish in the final 10 minutes.  The New Saints remain four points behind Penybont – with two games in hand – after their 4-1 win away at Barry Town United in Saturday’s early kick-off.  Barry kept the champions at bay for half an hour but TNS then scored twice in the space of two minutes as Danny Davies’ low shot deflected past Luc Rees before Ash Baker rifled home from Jordan Williams’ corner.  Sam Snaith quickly halved the deficit when he managed to bundle in Robbie Willmott’s cross at the back post but Declan McManus restored TNS’ two-goal cushion in first half stoppage time as he headed home from Danny Redmond’s inviting cross.   The best of the goals came midway through the second half when Leo Smith produced a superb first time finish from outside of the box which beat Rees via the crossbar It was a seventh consecutive win in all competitions for TNS who travel to Shamrock Rovers in the UEFA Conference League on Thursday.  Connah’s Quay Nomads moved up to eighth in the table with a crucial 1-0 home win against 10-man Cardiff Met on Saturday.  After Archers centre-back Jac Clay had been sent off for two bookable offences the Nomads broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute when Ben Maher’s superb first-time strike from the edge of the box flew beyond Alex Lang and into the top corner Billy Paynter’s side are now only two points off a top six spot.  Newtown and Bala Town were left frustrated in their own battle for the top half as they played out a 0-0 draw at Latham Park.  Both sides had glorious chances in the first half as Bala forward George Newell fired way over from close range before a fierce effort from Robins full-back Callum rattled the near post.  Newell was shown a second yellow card in the 77th minute but the 10-man Lakesiders were able to see off the hosts’ late pressure and earn a point.  Barry Town United 1-4 The New SaintsCaernarfon Town 1-5 PenybontConnah’s Quay Nomads 1-0 Cardiff MetHaverfordwest County 4-1 Flint Town UnitedNewtown 0-0 Bala TownBriton Ferry Llansawel 4-0 Aberystwyth Town Ruben Davies and Kristian Fletcher helped Swansea City Under-21s book their place in the semi-finals of the Nathaniel MG Cup with an emphatic victory against 10-man Briton Ferry Llansawel at Old Road The Swans took an early lead through Jenkins and were then handed a man advantage when Morgan Hutin was sent off with just 26 minutes played for an awful challenge on Mitchell Bates who was skippering the visitors against his old club Swansea profited with striker Davies netting and Jenkins adding his second in the final minutes of the first half Anthony Wright’s team controlled the second half to seal progress with a minimum of fuss; Davies adding his second and Kristian Fletcher also on the scoresheet with two goals of his own as the coach enjoyed a winning return to a grassroots club he has close ties to with plenty of midfield tussling but little in the way of a pattern Joe Thomas sliced his effort on goal from an early Swansea corner Ferry were unable to fully clear a cross into the box and he made no mistake to calmly steer the ball into the bottom corner and it took a good block to prevent Fletcher making more of a loose pass he was able to pick off deep in opposition territory Ferry responded by forcing a series of corners but the Swans dealt with the aerial challenge and keeper Evan Watts made a good claim to help them clear their lines The JD Cymru South outfit’s task got more difficult when a poor challenge from Hutin on Swansea skipper Bates saw the referee immediately produce a red card The Swans looked to press home the numerical advantage pinning the home side deep in their own half They lost Kai Ludvigsen to injury – Filip Lissah replacing him – but shook off the enforced change to double their lead five minutes before half-time firing across the keeper into the bottom corner after being found in space by Liam Smith And Swansea would further extend their lead right on the stroke of half-time Jenkins getting Lissah’s pass out of his feet before once again applying a calm finishing touch with the final kick of the opening 45 minutes Davies took aim from the edge of the area early in the second half but saw his effort roll into the gloves of Ferry keeper Rhys Wilson while Maliq Cadogan fired over from the edge of the area Cadogan lifted a curling strike over the crossbar as the Swans dictated play while Fletcher sent a shot on the angle straight at Wilson after being freed by good build-up down the left Cadogan was again off target with an angled volley while substitute Ben Lloyd was denied at the near post by Wilson But the fourth Swansea goal would arrive with 15 minutes left as Davies got his second by converting from Sam Parker's measured ball across the box Davies was denied by a superb save but Fletcher was on hand to put away the rebound for his seventh goal in seven games Swansea continued to turn the screw and Fletcher added further gloss to the scoreline when he raced through on goal and rounded the keeper to get his second in quick succession Haverfordwest County AFC make a swift return to the Ogi Bridge Meadow Stadium as we take on Briton Ferry Llansawel in
