The Shots progressed into the Fifth Round of the Isuzu FA Trophy in emphatic fashion with an 8-0 win over Chertsey Town
a brace from Jonny Stuttle and a hat-trick from Kai Corbett ended Chertsey Town’s furthest-ever venture into the FA Trophy
The game got off to the perfect start for Aldershot Town when centre-back Christian Maghoma opened the scoring in the 5th minute
Josh Barrett’s corner found the defender who saw his initial shot blocked before holding off his marker and finding the back of the net
the home side’s advantage was doubled when Ashley Akpan delivered a perfect low-cross from the right for James Henry to have an easy finish
Aldershot were enjoying themselves and some of the football being played by the Shots was simply sublime
The 15th minute should have brought an early third goal for the Shots after a beautiful display of attacking flair as Dejan Tetek and Henry played a quick one-two and Tetek chipped the ball over the Chertsey defence to find the run of Josh Barrett
but after chesting the ball down and volleying at goal
the post denied Barrett and Aldershot from scoring a wonderful goal
Ryan Jones found Aldershot’s third in the 25th minute
as he took it upon himself to drive down the left whilst beating a couple of Chertsey defenders
before firing a powerful strike into the top corner and leaving Nicky Jupp with no chance at his near-post
Barrett was incredibly unlucky to go into the break without a goal himself with a hat-trick of opportunities throughout the remainder of the first-half
Ashley Akpan drove in from the right wing and was clever to use James Henry’s run as a decoy before playing it through to Barrett who seemingly got caught in two minds between chipping it over the on-rushing Jupp or squaring it to Barham
only to half-dink it wide away from Barham
His next opportunity four minutes later was a typical Josh Barrett attempt at goal as he looked to chip Jupp from the edge of the area
but put a bit too much on his shot that cleared the crossbar
before he turned Ryan Jones’ low-cross just wide of the post from around the penalty spot three minutes before the break
Two substitutions were made by the Shots at half-time as Jonny Stuttle and Tyler Frost replaced Josh Barrett and Aaron Jones and Stuttle was involved early on as his smart through ball put Jack Barham through on goal only for the Shots striker to fire straight at Jupp
Chertsey finally gave Marcus Dewhurst a test as Louis Degand forced him into probably his first real action of the game in the 53rd minute
before the Shots ‘keeper pulled off a superb double-save to deny Conor Lee fro close-range five minutes later
Dejan Tetek was running the show for the Shots in midfield and showed off his magic just after the hour as he danced past two Chertsey defenders with fabulous quick feet but was held up by a third defender and was unable to get a shot away
Kai Corbett was introduced in the 67th minute and Chertsey Town will be looking back at that moment as the one where things got very difficult as within four minutes he had scored the first of his three goals off of the bench
Corbett bent a beautifully placed shot into the corner that gave the Chertsey defence no hope and left Jupp stationary
He should have his second not long later when Maxi Mullins rushed through on goal and had a perfect opportunity to square the ball to Corbett
only to try and score himself but Jupp pulled off a superb stop to deny him
Jonny Stuttle then scored his first Shots goal and the Shots’ fifth of the afternoon in the 83rd minute and began an Aldershot rout for the final 10 minutes
Corbett turned provider after breaking into the box and Stuttle’s first-time finish found the bottom corner
and Kai Corbett got his second goal after driblling past a couple of defenders and firing a shot too powerful for Jupp to stop
Stuttle showed good poacher’s instinct for his second of the afternoon as Cameron Hargreaves powerful effort from outside the area was spilled by Jupp and Stuttle raced in to turn it in for Aldershot’s seventh
Kai Corbett completed his hat-trick and completed the scoring with an eighth goal
Racing through on goal with no-one but his teammate Maxwell Mullins around him
Corbett rounded Jupp and finished into an open net to finish off a very successful
professional and dominant display from Aldershot Town

The U’s switch their attention to cup action on Saturday
kicking off their FA Cup campaign in the Fourth Qualifying Round with a trip to Southern Football League Premier Division side Chertsey Town
A Mani Dieseruvwe hat-trick condemned Sutton United to a dramatic defeat against Hartlepool United
Jayden Harris gave the U’s a perfect start when he turned home Josh Coley’s cutback to give the U’s an early lead
with Ashley Nadesan doubling their lead shortly before the half-hour mark when he met Eduino Vaz’s inch-perfect cross
Hartlepool would produce a dramatic reaction in the second half
with Luke Charman heading Joe Grey’s cross past Arnold ten minutes after the restart
before a double from Dieservuvwe overturned the scoreline in the hosts’ favour
Despite enjoying the better of things in the second half
the Pools would be pegged back when Lewis Simper fired home a wonderful effort late on to level the score
but wasn’t enough to steal a point as Dieservuvwe struck again moments later to complete the turnaround
Chertsey Town have enjoyed much success in recent seasons
and have been on a rise up non-league after initially declining in the Combined Counties
With the Curfews struggling to progress from the ninth tier
former Chairman David Rayner returned to the club in 2018 and appointed Dave Anderson as manager
who guided them to the league title with six games to spare
finishing 13 points above their challengers and suffering just three defeats
They would also be crowned winners of the FA Vase at Wembley Stadium in the same season
and continued their success on the pitch during the following campaigns
with successive seasons back in the Isthmian League
as well as reaching the FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round for the first time in their history in 2021/22
beating Chesham United and Jersey Bulls before losing to Southend United
They would subsequently continue a promotion push
losing in the 2022 Isthmian South Central play-off final
but went one better after Mark Harper joined the club
winning the division with a century of points
as well as going on an unbeaten run of 36 games from September
The Curfews would subsequently lose top scorer Gianluca Botti to Whitehawk in the summer
but have added quality to their ranks in the form of Massimo Giamattei from Basingstoke United as well as Ben Mason from Farnborough Town
and currently sit 16th in the Southern Football League Premier Division
Mark Harper is someone who will be familiar to some Sutton supporters
with the Curfews manager being a part of the U’s Isthmian League championship-winning side in 1999
also appeared as a player for Chertsey during the 1990’s
he made the transition into coaching and helped out at Spelthorne Sports
later joining Hampton & Richmond Borough in 2011
Harper would enjoy his most successful season as a manager with Chertsey Town
having joined ahead of the 2023/24 campaign
He led the club to the Isthmian South Central title
going 36 games unbeaten from September and finishing the season with 100 points
Conor Lee will be the danger man for the Curfews on Saturday
having started the 2024/25 season in fine form
Lee opened his account for the campaign with a penalty against Frome Town
and later won many plaudits for his Man of the Match display against Winchester City
with a dramatic hat-trick to rescue a 3-3 draw having been 3-0 down
The Curfews man has previously turned out for Spelthorne Sports and Met Police
before arriving at Alwyns Lane ahead of their title-winning 2023/24 campaign
in which Lee was their third highest scorer with 12 goals
Chertsey Town 1-0 Sutton United (08/01/2019)
Chertsey Town 1-1 Sutton United (31/01/1997)
Sutton United 4-2 Chertsey Town (20/08/1996)
Sutton United 2-1 Chertsey Town (03/02/1996)
Chertsey Town 1-1 Sutton United (29/08/1995)
Sutton United 2-1 Chertsey Town (22/03/1995)
London-born attacker Anthony Joseph came through the ranks at Chertsey Town
who were then in the Isthmian League Division 2
and went on to score seven goals in 36 games during the 2003/04 season
After departing Alwyns Lane at the end of the campaign
where his performances against Sutton in the 2008-09 season persuaded Paul Doswell to bring him to the U’s in summer 2009
He would end 2009/10 with five goals in 35 appearances for Sutton
having also spent a brief time out on loan at Margate
Joseph would feature a handful of times for the U’s at the end of the campaign
but departed permanently in the summer of 2010
and later went on to play for Carshalton Athletic
Chipstead and Tooting & Mitcham United
Hayden Muller was back running during the week and could be nearing a return from a hamstring problem
although he is still a couple of weeks away
Dillon De Silva made his long-awaited return from a knee injury sustained on the opening day of the season last weekend against Hartlepool United
and continues to recover fully as he looks to get more minutes in the legs
Ryan Jackson and Edwin Agbaje remain unavailable
the former with a bruised retina picked up against Southend United
while the latter is still recovering from a hamstring problem sustained during pre-season with Ipswich Town
Aaron Farmer will be the man in the middle on Saturday and is taking charge of a Sutton game for the first time
He has been a National League referee since the start of last season
The U’s usual Mixlr audio commentary will be unavailable on Saturday due to FA rules
but supporters can still follow the action via BBC Surrey
who will be providing a live commentary through the BBC website
The Supporters’ coach leaves at 12pm (meet at 11.45am)
so email suttonunitedcoachtravel@hotmail.com as soon as possible to book – payment required when booking
both in the ground and surrounding streets
Chertsey station is about a 15-minute walk from the ground and can be reached from Sutton changing at Wimbledon and Weybridge
with the journey taking about an hour and 20 minutes
There will be no segregation inside the stadium
and Chertsey will also be putting on a mixed fanzone
We encourage Sutton supporters to get to the ground early

Hanwell Town concluded their travels within the Southern League Premier South with a comfortable victory at Chertsey on Bank Holiday Monday (21 April 2025)
extending their best ever season to new heights
The Geordies got off to a sound start and they weren’t long in taking the lead
Chertsey still needed points to be absolutely safe from relegation
and started to push forward with McCoy managing to connect with a cross
Manager Chris Moore had brought in Kameron English to try and exploit a perceived lack of pace in the Chertsey defence and just before the half hour
English broke through the defensive line but his shot was pushed wide by Chertsey keeper Josh Strizovic
Eliott Benyon reacted quickest to glance the ball into the back of the net
McCoy was closest with a shot that Beasant pushed wide of the post
and Chertsey’s task got harder as Louis Birch was dismissed for a second yellow card just before the hour
with Luke Robertson coming closest but in the end
Hanwell earned a very good 3 points away from home
confirming a top 10 finish within the Southern League Premier South
“We were excellent from start to finish today
there were at least another 3 or 4 one on ones
that we’d going to come to Chertsey Town and win two-nil
after they’d beaten us twice this season.”
Hanwell finish their best ever season with a final home game
against Plymouth Parkway on Saturday 26th April
afterwards there will be the club’s End of Season Awards in the clubhouse
with tickets being available on line on the club’s website
9 Elliot Benyon (Alfie Pendlebury 89′)
11 Kameron English (Ridwan Hassan 74′)

the U’s faced FA cup action against Southern league outfit Chertsey Town
There were five changes from last week’s game which saw United succumb to a 4-3 defeat against Hartlepool
Notable changes include a first start for Alex Kirk since joining over a week ago
while Jack Sims also made his competitive debut for United starting between the sticks
The first half saw an opening twelve minutes full of goals
Jack Mazzone opened the goal on the fourth minute with a volleyed effort into the bottom right
Matt Rush made no mistake in converting Josh Coley’s cross into the back of the net
It would be Coley who would follow with a goal of his own
The electric winger found himself in space on the edge of the box and curled his effort into the top right corner
The second half saw no goals until injury time as Ben Mason turned a cross into the back of his own net
The best chance for Chertsey would come in the form of a penalty missed by Conor Lee
The first chance of the game fell for Chertsey
A free kick awarded for obstruction immediately following the kick off was lofted in the box before falling to Robertson who shot over
Chertsey then soon followed with the opener
Mazzone had enough time to fire a shot into the bottom right corner from Mason’s cross
The U’s would reply with an equaliser not long after
French played the ball out to Coley who headed the ball back across goal where Rush was waiting for his first competitve goal as a United player
Coley would then follow with United’s second as he made space in the box from another diagonal French pass
.and scored his his fifth goal of the season in spectacular fashion by curling an effort into the far top corner
Billy Montague then had a chance to lead a Chertsey attack
curling an effort towards goal which was deflected out for a corner
The corner was cleared as far as Wayne Ridgley who hit a tame effort at Sims
Chertsey had a chance down the Sutton left
Mazzone found himself with the ball at his feet before trying an effort on goal but Okoli did well to get low and deny the Chertsey striker
The defender was left without an option but to pull the Chertsey attacker down just inside the Sutton half
Following a save by home keeper Nicky Jupp
Lewis Simper had an opportunity to swing the ball into the box from a corner but Chertsey cleared their lines of any danger
Waller found himself in space on the left with time to play the ball across to Rush who was unable to meet his cross as Jupp dived at his feet
Jupp coming out worse following the collision with Rush and required treatment but was okay to continue
when the ball was switched from one full back to another which allowed Mason to have a chance but he smashed his effort over the bar
This would be the last chance of the first half
The U’s would start the second half positively with the ball in the back of the net
Coley had an effort at goal which the keeper could only parry as far as Rush who converted the rebound
the goal was eventually ruled out for offside
Montague found himself played through and Alex Kirk did well to slide and deny a clear chance on goal
Soon after the assistant raised his flag to deny Montague’s effort at an equaliser
Another chance came for Chertsey as Mason found himself through on the Sutton left and played a ball across which Okoli intercepted out for a corner
Simper then found himself in the book for a late challenge
A free kick was played into the box which Sims punched as far as Collins
Collins put the ball into the box but the referee halted play for Sims and Alex Fisher to receive treatment after a collision
Sims punched the ball out but was deemed to have made contact with Lee
Sims and Steve Morison ended up in the referee’s book
Lee was unable to convert as he smacked his effort off the foot of the post and an offside decision halted Chertsey’s attempts to keep the attack alive from the rebound
Robertson drove the ball to the edge of the box before firing an effort which Sims did well to get low and collect the ball
United would finish the game with a two goal advantage as Nadesan’s cross across the box was put into the back of the net by Mason under pressure from Will Davies
A 61-year-old-man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison after pleading guilty to sexual offences against multiple children.
Paul Sander, 61, from Chertsey, was sentenced at Guildford Crown Court on Monday, February 17, after pleading guilty to 10 offences, including:
Over a three-year period, Sander committed multiple sexual assaults on one child between the ages of four and seven, telling the victim “Don’t tell anyone about this" in an attempt to cover up his crimes.
On a separate occasion, he indecently assaulted a 14-year-old girl.
A forensic examination of Sander's phone also uncovered more than 500 upskirting images and videos of women, taken between June 2015 and April 2019.
Further images were recovered including a Category C indecent image of a child and indecent images of a 17-year-old girl, taken covertly without their consent.
Detective Sergeant Alastair Bagshaw, said: "Paul Sander is a dangerous sexual predator and I am pleased that this was recognised in the lengthy, and type of, sentence that he has received.
"Because of this, he will not be eligible to apply for release for ten years and even then, only if the Parole Board consider him safe to do so.
"I cannot emphasise enough how much admiration I have for the strength that Sander’s victims have shown in coming forward and talking about the horrific experiences that they had to endure. It is thanks to their bravery that he is now no longer a risk to other children.
"I hope that this case can reassure others that Surrey Police is committed to protecting and supporting vulnerable people and bringing dangerous offenders to justice."

Bath City are at Twerton Park again in the Isuzu FA Trophy as they meet Chertsey Town for the first time
The Curfews ply their trade in Southern Premier South
They eased to a 3-0 win over Uxbridge in the last round thanks to Wilfred Omperon and Luke Robertson netting either side of a CJ Fearn own goal
It gained revenge for defeat to the same opposition two years previous and last season’s promotion means they’ve already matched their best performance in this competition
‘Last season’s promotion’ is being flippant – Chertsey reached 100 points despite being docked one
only lost one league game (that in September) and scored 103 goals to romp to glory in Isthmian South Central
Mark Harper’s side have adjusted reasonably well with the step up
losing in the 4th Qualifying Round to Sutton United despite taking the lead
and have scored three or more on ten separate occasions
It wasn’t enough at the weekend as they fell to a 4-3 home defeat to Swindon Supermarine
who are managed by former Roman Stuart Fleetwood
Bath City beat Beaconsfield Town and Boreham Wood
before losing on penalties to Coalville Town following a 0-0 draw in the fourth round
This season marks the 10-year anniversary of a stunning run to the semi-finals under Lee Howells
City’s best performance in the competition to date
Memorable victories over National League sides Bristol Rovers
Altrincham and Dover Athletic en route earned a semi-final with North Ferriby United
which the Romans lost on penalties after a 3-3 draw on aggregate
If Saturday’s tie is level after 90 minutes
it will head straight to a penalty shoot-out
The next round takes place on the weekend of Saturday 7 December

Motorists have been warned of major disruption this weekend ahead of the closure of part of the M25 in Surrey
The motorway will be closed from 9pm tonight (Friday
March 10 between junction 10 at Wisley and junction 11 at Chertsey
This will allow contractors to demolish and remove an old bridge which is no longer needed after work to upgrade the gyratory at junction 10 was completed last month
The closure has been planned months in advance to ensure it does not conflict with holiday periods or key events nearby
But drivers heading to London and the surrounding areas this weekend are being warned to expect delays and disruption
Those travelling to Gatwick and Heathrow airports and the Channel ports may also be affected.
said: “We were grateful to drivers who listened to our advice during the three weekend closures last year and I’d again urge them to only use the motorway if their journey is absolutely necessary
it’s simply not possible to carry out this scale of infrastructure improvement
which will benefit millions of people in the long term
without there being some degree of short-term disruption
“We have spent months planning these closures
but they will still cause significant congestion and delays
so we are asking road users to allow extra time and use alternative routes where possible
Please follow our official diversion routes and not information from satnavs.”
Those travelling clockwise will be diverted onto the A3 northbound at junction 10 and then the A245 and A320 before rejoining the M25 at junction 11
Those going in the opposite direction will take the A320 southbound at junction 11, before heading onto the A245 and the A3, rejoining the motorway at junction 10.
The Junction 10 improvement scheme will see an increase in the number of lanes to make journeys safer and improve traffic flow.
The works also aim to make it easier to enter and exit the M25, provide safer entry roads for Wisley, Pyrford, Old Byfleet and RHS Garden Wisley, as well as reducing the pollution caused by traffic jams.
Drivers are also being reminded of another full weekend closure between junctions 10 and 11 in two weeks’ time, from 9pm on Friday, March 21 until 6am on Monday, March 24 when another bridge will be demolished and removed.

SearchFrome Town vs. Chertsey Town: Preview and Ticket InfoZeb Baker-SmithApr 42 min readSteve Jupp
weighs up a make-or-break clash with the Curfews
With the dust having barely settled on cup final disappointment
the Scarlet Runners have to pick themselves up for what is a ‘must win’ encounter against fellow strugglers Chertsey Town who will be making their first-ever visit to Badgers Hill
And ‘must win’ also means ‘must score’ as a third straight 1-0 loss extends a barren run of not having found the net to just over five-and-a half hours of football
When Frome returned victorious from Basingstoke a fortnight ago
they moved level on points with the Curfews who
A win and a draw since then have given them a little breathing space which the chasing pack will be desperate to wipe out
For a side just four points above the drop zone
Chertsey themselves certainly know the way to goal
scoring more than any other team outside the top six with sharp-shooter Jack Mazzone finding the target over twenty times in the league alone
they have kept just one clean sheet in the league since the middle of November and only Marlow have lost more matches and conceded more so some may conclude
that we could well be in for a more open and entertaining contest rather than the cagey
The reverse fixture at Alwyns Lane back in August was a bright and breezy affair and could easily have delivered more goals than the eventual 1-1 scoreline
A Badgers Hill turnout last week of well over 600 was a fine effort from all concerned and the team can only benefit from similar backing against opposition who
are battling to avoid a swift return to Step Four having won promotion last term
This is a real six-pointer and for the Robins

we are back on the road as we face Chertsey Town at Alwyns Lane Football Ground with a 7:45pm kick off
“Today’s game at Chertsey will be a very tough game as they are fighting for their lives at the bottom
When they beat us here last year I didn’t think for one minute that they’d be down the bottom of the division and I think that shows the high level of this division
We’ve been rather confusing of late ourselves
some really good displays and moments of games mixed with a lack of intensity in others
Ultimately we’re not scoring enough goals in our good spells and that’s something we need to improve in order to stay in the top half come the end of April
We’re going to go to chertsey in good spirits following a really encouraging performance on Saturday
Hope to see as many of you as possible supporting us “
There will be limited social media coverage on ‘X’ with Half Time
Full Time and Goal updates only due to staff availability however Peacocks Radio will be covering the full game on the following link ; https://peacocks-radio.mixlr.com/

The hosts made a quick start and thought they had taken an early lead within just seventy seconds as Asher Yearwood calmly slotted into the net; the goal quickly being disallowed as a preceding free kick was illegally taken
And they were punished after nine minutes through Jack Mazzone who placed home the clever set-piece inside the bottom left corner
Borough attempted an immediate response when Bradley Tarbuck volleyed wide from an angle and Dan Wooden soon lashed harmlessly off target on twenty minutes; home frustrations showing when Joe Morrison was booked for a foul
It could have been two-nil moments later as a corner caused a goalmouth scramble that was eventually cleared to safety
Another opportunity fell the way of Chertsey after a steadying spell of possession reached Oliver McCoy and the striker hit a bouncing shot that rolled across goal; whilst Louis Birch was shown yellow for a niggly foul
And this away defence was soon fortunate as Yearwood fell down in the box before the break
but these penalty appeals were rapidly rejected
Chertsey sought to dominate upon the restart and Cole Brown fired into their left side netting after a lung-busting sprint on the left side within seconds; this opening being followed by an effort from Oliver Turner spinning over on 52 minutes
An amazing chance came their way too as McCoy tried to lob Adam Parkes with a “first time” hit that went over the bar
Away momentum did however get rewarded just before on the hour mark when a throw-in was played into McCoy who took the touch and placed past Parkes into the right hand corner with a slow-motioned shot
A third goal almost arrived moments later when Nathan Rogers saw a drive saved whilst Danny Hollands saw the same outcome through on goal
Substitutions across both benches helped to kill off ‘late drama’ as Gosport dominated the possession; but in truth they lacked any urgency and danger in attacking areas during the last fifteen
This was in contrast to the Generals who saw McCoy denied rapidly by Parkes in 2 occasions and many crosses
but they were forced to settle for a two goal margin
Other results mean that Gosport sit eleventh in the Southern League Premier and are fifteen points away from the play offs with nine games left to play
they are only nine points above relegation and can be dragged into a ‘battle’ if results don’t improve as they travel across to play fifth place Dorchester next weekend and also host Merthyr (15/03)

Chertsey in Surrey is set to undergo a major revival with the residential sector leading the way
according to regional expert Charlie Nicholson
commuter-belt town’s fortunes are about to turn for the better – driven by town centre regeneration
Surrey-based partner at property consultancy Vail Williams
says the local authority’s drive towards town centre enhancement had helped spark the turnaround
He says investors repurposing vacant office assets for residential use will contribute to the town’s revitalisation
Chertsey had slowly lost its nucleus of office occupiers to other nearby towns
which had either benefitted from town centre regeneration programmes or the delivery of high quality
Runnymede Borough Council’s 2030 Local Plan promotes new town centre development and urban regeneration
alongside public realm improvements and grants for businesses to restore and smarten shop fronts
Woking-based Charlie said: “The repurposing of much of the town’s office stock has had the dual benefit of meeting the housing requirements of the adopted 2030 Local Plan to accommodate the borough’s growing population
whilst retaining asset value for the investors
“There has been strong demand and residential values here have also been relatively stable
in spite of the economic challenges of the last 12 months
with average house prices at £428,590 in 2023
“And there are more opportunities to convert offices for residential use in and around Abbots Way
Station Road and Pyrcroft Road in the town
alongside the provision of more residential housing supply
we need to see more investment in Chertsey’s leisure and retail offer.”
He added that the council’s focus on the main shopping area was welcome and would help to support local residents
as well as potentially attracting more office occupiers back to the town
This follows successful regeneration schemes in Addlestone and Egham town centres
Charlie said Chertsey’s attractive location
good connectivity to the City and close proximity to Heathrow Airport
meant that despite the ongoing conversion to residential there was still an active swathe of office demand with major occupiers including Samsung
He went on: “Whilst it is challenging to hold on to a nucleus of occupiers when you have towns such as Staines
it is not impossible for us to see an office market revival in Chertsey
particularly amongst the SME market and provided there is further investment to reinvent assets here
“One of the attractions of the Chertsey office market is that the rental tone within the town is comparatively discounted
with rents some 20 to 30 per cent lower than equivalent accommodation in adjoining town locations and business parks
“We are expecting this office space to attract occupiers back to the town
where rents for Grade A and Grade B sit at £25 to £28 per sq ft currently
We are already seeing positive movement at out-of-town locations
Charlie added that the Chertsey industrial market remained active and
if developers or owner occupiers could get their hands on industrial land for development they would do well
with demand continuing to outstrip available supply and most units let immediately upon becoming available
“This is what we have witnessed at Chertsey Industrial Park on Fordwater Trading Estate
has just three out of eight industrial units remaining to let
We also recently completed a 10,000 sq ft letting nearby to Brooklands Automotive and expected rents are now in excess of £20 per sq ft
“Chertsey has a range of second-hand industrial stock
and we have just concluded lettings on two small secondhand industrial units in Chertsey of 1,800 and 2,600 sq ft achieving in excess of £16 per sq ft
it would be good to see investment in the refurbishment of some existing industrial units in the area
improving quality and sustainability credentials to meet occupier demands
“It would seem that the theme for Chertsey this year is one of reuse and reinvestment – whether repurposing stock for alternative uses to meet local demand or reinvesting in the town centre or its industrial stock
this focus on revitalising property assets and the wider town centre
will help give Chertsey its time to shine.”
TIME TO SHINE: Thames-side Surrey town Chertsey is set to undergo a revival
driven by town centre regeneration and out-of-favour offices being converted into residential stock

SearchFrome Town 0 - 1 Chertsey TownHarrison RichardsApr 53 min readUpdated: Apr 6
Frome Town fell to a fourth consecutive 1-0 defeat
as Chertsey Town put them to the sword at Badgers Hill
A late first half strike from Oliver McCoy was enough for the Curfews to take three points back to Surrey
with the result putting them out of relegation trouble
Despite managing just 34 goals in the league this season
the BA11 outfit would have been hopeful to find the back of the net against the 2nd worse defence in the league
It was a nervy start to the game for Frome as Jack Mazzone nearly punished them in the first minute
latching onto a ball over the top before fortunately dragging his effort wide
Frome began to settle and fans around the ground thought they took the lead in the 15th minute when Sam Teale tapped home following a free-kick
but celebrations were halted by the linesman’s flag
James Ollis then forced a solid stop from Joshua Strizovic six minutes later
he fired a sharp shot which was subsequently beaten away
Then deja vu struck in the 32nd minute - Joe O’Loughlin broke down the left hand side and fizzed a cross in which Archie Ferris tapped home
only for the goal to be chalked off for offside once again
as Matt Wood misjudged a ball over the top
McCoy allowed the ball to bounce before firing past Kyle Phillips
Having only managed to pick up five points from losing positions all season
the sense of inevitability was hard to ignore when going behind that it would end in defeat was hard to ignore
Frome struggled to create clear chances after the break
though substitute Zak Drew had a decent opportunity in the 50th minute - his shot however
was struck straight into the ground and Ollis couldn’t direct the follow up on target
Albie Hopkins then had a good chance ten minutes later
it looked more likely the visitors would double their lead
They nearly did in the 89th minute following a defensive lapse
Chertsey surged down the right hand side and struck an effort across goal that somehow hit the inside of the post - somehow staying out - but it made little difference as Frome slumped to another league defeat
a trip to Swindon Supermarine beckons and will be a crucial factor in deciding our fate this season
Your support on the road has been fantastic all season and it will be needed once again

Hanwell Town’s Geordies crashed out of the FA Cup on Saturday (14 September 2024) to fellow Southern League team Chertsey Town
with a lacklustre display that also saw two Hanwell players dismissed for red cards in the second half
leaving manager Chris Moore somewhat disappointed
“I don’t think we got going at all
you’ve not really got going but they’ve not yet threatened us
“Then we go out and we get a player sent off and it kills us a bit
Its all about discipline and the two lads let us down today.”
neither team had an attempt on goal with Chertsey’s Will Montague and Sam Omperon both hitting the side netting
Alfie Pendlebury getting the ball into the net for Hanwell just before the break
Chris Moore made early changes in the second half
bringing on Mat Mackenzie and Joe Wilson but the move was somewhat nullified by Jordan Edwards being shown a red card for a second bookable offence soon after
and keeper Sam Beasant had to make excellent saves at point blank range from Montague and midfielder Conor Lee to keep the visitors out but with 20 minutes to go
the task for the Geordies got even more challenging as winger Kameron English was shown a straight red card
Hanwell fought with just the nine men on the field to keep the game on level terms
with defender Dan Carr curling a free kick just wide of the Chertsey goal to give the vocal home support some hope
Chertsey Town swung a corner into the far post and Jack Mazzone had the easiest of finishes to give the visitors the advantage
leaving Hanwell the mammoth task of trying to equalise and earn the replay
Sam Omperon confirmed the result for the visitors with a shot past Beasant following a quick break upfield
and so left the Geordies to imagine what might have been
Hanwell return to Southern League action next Saturday at the Powerday Stadium

“Silverwood” will deliver treatment and care in a safe and therapeutic environment at St Peter’s Hospital.
It’s run by Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and has 64 ensuite bedrooms across four adult mental health wards.
It replaces an outdated mental health unit that was demolished in 2022.
Graham Wareham, Chief Executive of Surrey and Borders Partnership, said: “Silverwood will provide a safe, spacious and therapeutic environment that I am sure will support people with their recovery. It will also provide staff with a fantastic place to work.
“The input we’ve received from people who have used mental health services has been invaluable in helping us to offer an environment and facilities which will truly meet the needs of people using the service.”
Silverwood will support adults with severe or acute mental ill health.
It offers a range of therapeutic spaces including a music room, art room, sensory room and spirituality room and each ward has its own garden.
There is also an outdoor sports area, a fully-equipped air conditioned gym and access to a woodland walk to support both people’s physical and mental health.
Inpatients will be able to control the lighting and heating in their rooms to promote well-being.

61 year old Paul Sander was sentenced at Guildford Crown Court after pleading guilty to 10 offences.
The offences included direct sexual contact, assault, voyeurism, public indecency and taking indecent photos of children.
Surrey Police have said that he will not be eligible to apply for release for ten years and then only if the parole board considers it safe.
Detective Sergeant Alastair Bagshaw, said: “Paul Sander is a dangerous sexual predator and I am pleased that this was recognised in the lengthy, and type of, sentence that he has received.
“Because of this, he will not be eligible to apply for release for ten years and even then, only if the Parole Board consider him safe to do so.
“I cannot emphasise enough how much admiration I have for the strength that Sander’s victims have shown in coming forward and talking about the horrific experiences that they had to endure. It is thanks to their bravery that he is now no longer a risk to other children.
“I hope that this case can reassure others that Surrey Police is committed to protecting and supporting vulnerable people and bringing dangerous offenders to justice.”

The UK has basked in its warmest day of the year so far as temperatures topped 21C on Thursday’s spring equinox
The highest temperature recorded was 21.3C in both Northolt, west London, and Chertsey, Surrey
It beat this year’s previous top figure of 19.7C in Crosby
on March 9 and was just shy of the highest recorded UK spring equinox temperature of 21.5C in 1972
Wales also enjoyed both its hottest day of 2025 so far and its warmest spring equinox as Gogerddan saw a peak of 20.4C
The previous warmest spring equinox in Wales was 20.3C recorded in Valley in 2005
Met Office forecaster Craig Snell said: “It has been a fairly pleasant day
“Sunshine has been the best down across the south
we have kind of seen the highest figures there
“Temperatures have been a little bit more hazy further north
but everywhere has generally had a dry and fine day today.”
Some fine weather was also enjoyed in Northern Ireland on Thursday where the top temperature was 17.1C in Derrylin, County Fermanagh, and in Scotland where figures peaked at 16.1C in Auchincruive in Ayrshire.
Sunseekers may be disappointed as temperatures are set to dip back to the averages for this time of year of around 11-12C in the coming days.
Mr Snell said “things are kind of “changing”, adding: “The weather will turn more unsettled, and then, because of that, temperatures then will begin to fall away, back down to nearer to where they should be for the time of year as we go into the weekend.
“I think today will probably be the peak of the temperatures and then it does turn a bit more unsettled.”
Meteorological spring always starts on March 1 while astronomical spring, or the equinox, begins around March 20 each year.
The other equinox is in September and both mark the sun crossing the equator.
Day and night are therefore about the same length.
Met Office meteorologist Aidan McGivern said “at 9.01am this morning, the spring equinox occurred, that means the northern hemisphere is now tilted towards the sun”, and it feels spring-like as “warmer air is dredged up from the south” around an area of low pressure.
More unsettled weather is ahead as “low pressure starts to move towards the UK, the winds will pick up, the cloud will build and we’ll see a change to more showery weather over the next few days”, he added in an online forecast.
A frost-free night is expected as the cloud and breeze builds up but sheltered parts of northern England and Scotland could see a touch of frost in the early hours.
A milder start to the day, compared with recent mornings, is expected on Friday, when it will be wetter in some places.
Mr McGivern said: “South-western parts of the UK will see showers from the word go, perhaps even a rumble of thunder, though showers will move into west Wales, Northern Ireland, western Scotland, through the day as well.”
In a marked change compared with the week so far, it will become fairly breezy in the east and across higher parts of Scotland but with “temperatures still above average” and it will still be “a warm day, but not quite as warm as Thursday”.
38-year-old Kyle Prunty is wanted for failure to appear in court for an offence that took place in the area
Anyone with information on his whereabouts should contact police on 101

The Blues have looked all but certainties for relegation this season
the side slipping 12 points from safety after last weekend's 2-0 home defeat to Plymouth Parkway
they've made a couple of signings this week in the form of Mekhai Ressassa-Grant and Reuben Amissah and today they delivered the kind of performance that will give fans real hope they can pull off the great escape
They remain 10 points from safety - and have only 14 games left to earn the points needed to survive the drop
this was such a stunning victory that the players will believe anything is still possible
Manager Bartley has always believed his side can compete in the Southern League Premier South and won't give up on survival until it's a mathematically impossibility
This afternoon he handed a start to Ressassa-Grant
while Amissah was available to him from the bench
Parker turning home a shot acrobatically in the seventh minute to make it 1-0
Parker took on the bicycle kick and executed it perfectly
Chertsey levelled matters just a couple of minutes later
with Naheer Nawaf winning the visitors a penalty in the 14th minute
Parker converted to make it 2-1 and better was to follow for the Blues - but only after a couple of smart saves from new keeper Rhone
Their third goal came on the stroke of half-time
Parker firing the ball into the bottom corner
The Blues went close again when Chris Ovenden's header was deflected behind for a corner in the 58th minute
but from the resulting set piece the Blues made it 4-1
and Harry Hoath rose highest to send a bullet header into the back of the net
Chertsey scored again to make the game interesting
and they added a fifth in the 70th minute when Hoath smashed home his second of the game
Rhone saved well again in the closing stages to round off a very good afternoon for Marlow

Flackwell Heath were indebted to a late own goal from Charne Lemba as they collected all three points at home to Kings Langley at Wilks Park
The result sees the Heathens move to within four points of second placed Berkhamsted
who were held to a 2-2 draw at home by Leighton Town
and they remain eight points behind leaders Real Bedford who were 3-1 winners at Welwyn Garden City
but their pressure finally told when Lemba put through his own net with only 10 minutes to play
and the hosts held on for their sixth league win in eight matches
They are also unbeaten in eight since losing 4-2 to Berkhamsted at home on November 23
They next face an intriguing clash away to leaders Real Bedford this Saturday
A win for Chris Ayres side would see them cut the gap to the top side to five points
In the Combined Counties Premier Division North there were disappointing defeats for play-off hopefuls Holyport and Burnham against two of the league's title challengers
Holyport have returned to form in recent weeks with the return of key players from injury
they weren't quite able to overcome third placed Bedfont Sports who scored twice in the first half through George Frise (36') and Daniel Williams (40')
Callum Wright (54') got Port back into the match with a goal early in the second half
but they couldn't find another as they suffered a first defeat in five matches
fifth placed Virginia Water failed to take advantage as they were beaten 2-1 at home by leaders Amersham Town
Virginia Water and Holyport are level on 41 points

Burnham are also in contention for a top five finish with the matches they have in hand
This afternoon they visited second placed Egham Town and were beaten 3-0
Benjamin Thomas Peden (45') and Reece Mitchell (60')
Joel Ampabeng was also sent off for the Blues.
Burnham are still only four points off the top five play-off places and have a few matches in hand on most of their rivals

Windsor & Eton have moved to within a point of leaders Penn & Tylers Green - with three matches in hand - after defeating Spartans Youth 3-1 this afternoon
The Royalists were looking to make amends for their disappointing home defeat to Belstone in mid-week and they did so in fine style - Penn's goalless draw with Rising Ballers Kensington being the icing on the cake
The visitors had this game wrapped up inside the hour mark
Pawel Kowalkowski scored twice in the first half
his first coming from the penalty spot in the 12th minute and his second coming just after the half-hour mark after being played in on goal by Sam Whitehead
Ross McKernan squeezed in Oliver Graham's cross to make it 3-0 before Rhys Williams grabbed a consolation for Spartans from the penalty spot
Mo Davies pulled down Williams to concede the spot kick and Ben Hutchings was also sinbinned in the aftermath
but Windsor & Eton comfortably held on
The second placed side are back in action at home to Brook House at Stag Meadow on Tuesday evening
16th placed Windsor FC were beaten 1-0 away by Eversley & California
Ollie Noyes (49') grabbing the only goal of the game early in the second half
