supporters The first-half inside the Cheshunt Stadium was a rather subdued affair with very few clear-cut opportunities created by either side The visitors did start brightly initially and dominated the ball for long periods but with very little offered in the final third The closest they came to taking the lead was via Denzelle Olopade’s sweet volley which was excellently saved by Preston Edwards (10) Sam Granville blocked Samir Carruthers’ 32nd minute free-kick after Sam Odaudu had been fouled before Josh Hill fired across the face of the Cheshunt goal from a tight angle (39) And when the Darts’ defence was unable to deal with a deep cross into the box Donell Thomas was on hand to turn delightfully before firing the hosts in front deep into stoppage time (45+3) Dartford responded straight after the restart via Callum Jones’ cheeky lob over Preston Edwards but the ball was cleared off the line at the very last second (48) The timely intervention proved to be vital because the Ambers went on to double their advantage ten minutes later The in-form Kenny Coker was the player to score the goal (58) which left Ady Pennock’s side with a mountain to climb The Dartford boss responded immediately with a triple change in personnel and Olly Box all made way for George Whitefield Those changes would be followed by Jeremiah Pinder coming on for Luther Williams (71) before Samuel Okoye made way for Tyler Christian-Law (73) we find the Darts trying desperately to create an opening to get back into the contest only for a hard-working Cheshunt defence doing all it can to nullify the visitors’ attack The result was all but confirmed in the 70th minute when referee Mr Neil Morrison awarded the Ambers a penalty but their efforts were in vain as Cheshunt held firm to pull themselves further clear of the drop zone and end Dartford’s unbeaten run of form Josh Hill and Co will dust themselves down and go again next weekend as the Isthmian Premier League title race remains wide open Callum Jones.SUBSTITUTES: George Whitefield Match Photos Gallery GrassbanksDartfordKentDA1 1RTUnited Kingdom Telephone: 01322 299991Email: info@dartfordfc.com Dartford FC prides itself on Wanderers                                     2  Cheshunt                                               1 Cray Wanderers moved up to 9th in the Isthmian Premier albeit possibly briefly after a thrilling come from behind victory against a tough Cheshunt at a wet Flamingo Park. The win made it eleven league games unbeaten at the Wands new home since October It was felt before kick off that Neil Smith’ side needed perhaps one more win to confirm safety in the Isthmian Premier and with Cray now on 45 points and crucially sixteen in front of 19th placed Hendon means only really a catastrophic loss of form in the final eleven games coupled with superlative form from the other sides down the foot of the table means surely it is the higher echelons of the table they will be aiming for Smudge had the luxury of naming an unchanged side from the one which were impressive 4-1 winners at Chatham Town last Saturday meaning a second game for season ending loanee Soul Kader from Bromley up front Cheshunt are certainly no mugs but probably need at least a couple of wins for their safety to be confirmed and came into the game 15th on 37 points but had to make changes to their side from the one which beat Hastings United late in the game last Saturday Into the team for Mel Gwinett’s side came new signing from Wealdstone Scott Christian MJ Muyembe and Darion Furlong in for Lordon Akoibire The Ambers had ex-Wand Kenny Coker up front and had scored in his last couple of games while Cray had centre-half Remi Sutton who played for Cheshunt against Cray back in October Prior to kick off the Wands were presented with the December Performance of the Month award for the Isthmian League for the win at Dover on 14th December The match began with Cray dominating the possession in the opening fifteen minutes but the closest the Wands came was from Lateef Adaja’s left wing cross which came to Soul Kader but his effort lacked power and was claimed by Preston Edwards completely out of the blue Cheshunt took the lead in the 16th minute when a ball forward came to Rowley whose first touch was slightly heavy and was dispossessed by Coker who rolled the ball into the net down the left Ike Orji fired a shot over the bar shortly after but in the 22nd minute were deservedly on level terms when Josh Williams who had begun the game in blistering form down the right hoisted over a cross towards the back of the penalty area to Nyren Clunis who first time placed a shot wide of Edwards and tucked nicely into the bottom right corner for his seventh goal of the season and his third goal in six matches Two minutes later the Prince of Camberwell nearly shot Cray in front when he fired wide of goal from Adaja’ cross but may have turned awkwardly and needed a couple of minutes treatment   Then Williams was provider for a cross for Adaja but Dequanne Braithwaite did well to block and turn the ball over for a corner The match from here increased in quality and with both teams already on the scoresheet the second half of the opening period went from end to end Cheshunt threatened down the left and Coker fired into the side netting This was followed shortly after by a decent shot from outside the box by Jack Munns which Rowley did well to hold At the other end Williams saw a shot held by Edwards For Cray Frankie Raymond in imperious form in midfield once again played a cross into the box which Kader turned wide However the last chance of the half fell to Cheshunt and was a good opportunity when Braithwaite’s cross down the right into the box was headed wide of the right post by Tobias Braney By the start of the second half what started as simply a grey day had turned from drizzle to cold rain but it didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the two teams and for the first five minutes at least the match lost its shape with both on the attack Cheshunt began the half well and Braney’s cross from the left fell to Coker and maybe had more time to make the most of the chance but shot straight at Rowley For Cray from a cross from Darion Dowrich down the left Kader fired wide with a half volley The Ambers almost retook the lead when Christian set up Braney down the right of the area and his stinging shot was pushed out well by Rowley Cray though were beginning to up the gas and had a twenty minutes spell of power-heavy metal football with first Kader slotting following a cross but was disallowed for offside Then Orji’s superb cross down the right was met by the head of Kader who couldn’t have done more with the header but crashed back off the crossbar This was followed by another cross falling to Kader whose header was cleared off the line by the excellent Darion Furlong There was still more to come from Cray with Williams dashing down the right and his cross-shot flashed across goal and MJ Muyembe had to clear off the line Cray though were not to be denied and in the 68th minute went ahead with an exceptional goal started by Williams who from inside his own half burst forward to within twenty yards of goal and slotted a ball through a couple of defenders to Kader who did well to adjust his feet after his first touch but with some aplomb placed the ball past Edwards and into the net The Wands’ frustration continued as Charlie Edwards and Williams all saw shots inside the box blocked by the now overworked Ambers backline From here the conditions played its part in turning down the tempo but Cray had an element of control of the game with the nearest for Cheshunt falling to substitute Donell Thomas whose shot was well held by Rowley Nathan Jeche and late on Quade Taylor to helb bolster the fitness of the team which could have suffered with the conditions There were three yellow cards in the latter stages of the game for Tom Bonner Ike Orji and Quade Taylor but Cray were still looking for a third goal to give the game a much more respectable look Cheshunt did come close to making it 2-2 when top scorer Vas Vasiliou’s free kick into the area was volleyed over by Christian Cray had two chances to put the game to bed when first Williams who was unplayable on this afternoon carved a chance all by himself with he cut inside from the right into the box bis hear post shot was pushed out well by Edwards who also then denied Jeche with a one handed save The final chance of a breathtaking afternoon came for Cray when Taylor played a great ball out to Jeche down the left and his cross was steered wide of the right post by Adaja Cray though had snuffed out the Cheshunt threat with Coker withdrawn earlier in the half and the whistle went from the excellent referee Craig Barnett and Cray picked up a hugely satisfying three points and there were so many leading actors in this plot in amber and black who could be man of the match but Orji Clunis and Kader in particular were in fine form Cheshunt on this evidence should have no problems avoiding relegation and stay in 15th place but Cray were very good on the day and moved up into 9th albeit 11 points off fifth placed Dover Athletic Cray now go into a run of matches against three of the current top 10 in the next four games with 10th placed Folkestone visiting gritty comeback to secure all three points at the Megger Community Stadium with a 2-1 victory over Cheshunt in a match full of incident It was Cheshunt who drew first blood in just the 8th minute Former Dover man Charlie Naylor found himself on the scoresheet after a long throw into the box wasn’t dealt with by the home defence The ball took fell to Naylor and nestled into the back of the net a pinpoint cross from Fuad Sesay was met by Luke Baptiste whose header forced pressure on the Cheshunt defence George Nikaj lurked at the far post but narrowly failed to convert A flurry of yellow cards arrived for Cheshunt in the 27th minute – Alfie Matthews and goalkeeper R’avan Constable were all booked following separate off-the-ball incidents in a heated sequence Cheshunt were handed a golden opportunity to double their lead in the 32nd minute after a handball in the Dover area gave them a penalty But Jordan Gillmore came to the rescue for the home side diving low to his right to parry away a weak spot kick Dover made their pressure count just before the break Ruben Soares-Junior danced past Naylor and struck a tame shot allowing Luke Baptiste to pounce and poke home the equaliser That goal proved crucial in swinging momentum heading into half-time with the score tied at 1–1 Dover came out of the blocks quickly in the second half with George Nikaj inches away from scoring in the 50th minute his shot curling narrowly past the far post with a powerful header on the hour mark forcing Constable into a sharp low save Roman Charles-Cook was booked in the 55th minute but Dover remained composed and built steadily Baptiste again tested the Cheshunt goalkeeper in the 58th minute while a George Wilkinson cross moments later was nodded just over by Nikaj and Nikaj met it with a thunderous header to put Dover in front Dover managed the game well despite several substitutions and a lengthy six minutes of added time Injuries to Wilkinson and the enforced substitutions of key players like Nikaj and Baptiste tested the squad’s depth There was time for Tamas Amgbaduba to pick up a late yellow card after replacing Baptiste but Dover saw out the final minutes professionally This was a spirited and hard-fought performance from Dover Athletic who showed resilience after going behind early Dover will look to build on this momentum as they welcome Hendon to disappointment of their midweek FA Trophy exit at Torquay behind them with a 3-1 defeat of Cheshunt gave the Hornets a first half lead from the spot after the outstanding Reece Meekums had been fouled and added to his tally after the break after more good work by Meekums only to seemingly pass up his his chance of recording his first ‘treble’ for the club when he saw a second spot-kick pushed away by R’avan Constable That ‘miss’ looked costly when Vas Vasiliou converted a well-crafted goal for the Amber but Dickson was not to be denied tucking away a close range effort from Meekums’ cross to (in all competitions) burst out of the blocks in a pulsating first-half but came across an in-form R’Avan Constable between the Ambers’ sticks The goalkeeper saved well from Duane Ofori-Acheampong (3) and from Samir Carruthers’ cheeky lob in the fifth minute before Vas Vasiliou fired over the Dartford crossbar at the other end (8) Jacob Marsden also had a good afternoon in goal for the Darts which began with a good save to deny Tommy Wood in the 10th minute That was pretty much it from the visitors for the first period as Ady Pennock’s Darts were purring and laying seige on the visitors’ goal Denzelle Olopade was next to try his luck with a delightful curling drive which forced Constable into a superb save (13) before Ofori-Acheampong scored only to see his effort chalked off for an apparent offside Jeremiah Pinder then saw his low drive tipped behind by Constable (28) before Olopade had two bites of the same cherry in quick succession after Luther Williams and Sam Odaudu combined well to wreck havoc in the Cheshunt box Olopade’s first strike was saved well by Constable before his second smacked back off the upright The Darts’ pressure eventually told as the excellent Constable made arguably his only mistake of the afternoon The referee Mr Teddy Osborn pointed to the spot and Samir Carruthers cooly slotted home to score his third goal in as many games (35) The visitors responded via a well-taken free-kick before Magloire Muyembe forced an excellent save out of Jacob Marsden deep into stoppage time at the end of the half with in-form Vas Vasiliou forcing a fine save from Marsden (57) as the Ambers looked for an equaliser after a swift counter-attack was rewarded by a Tommy Wood leveller Ady Pennock responded by introducing Olly Box for Duane Ofori-Acheampong (61) before going on to swap Tyler Christian-Law and Jeremiah Pinder for Dean Nayler and Todd Brand (79) Cheshunt kept probing and only superb defending by Luther Williams prevented a potential two-on-one situation from developing after an excellent counter-attack (70) it was young defender George Whitefield who had the last laugh when his 30-yard screamer flew into the top-corner in the 78th minute to send the Dartford supporters into delightful celebrations the Josh Hill-led Darts held firm to thwart any Cheshunt attempt at seeking an equaliser Jack Thomas fired narrowly over the Dartford crossbar (81) before Whitefield put in a brilliant challenge to intercept Vasiliou’s dangerous cross deep into stoppage time Whitefield not only scored his first goal for the First Team and he also collected a well-deserved Man of The Match award as well in what was a thoroughly deserved victory for Ady and his team Duane Ofori-Acheampong.SUBSTITUTES: Olly Box Dover Athletic cruised live sport Dover Athletic claimed a hard-fought 2-1 victory away at Cheshunt with first-half goals from George Nikaj and Luke Baptiste proving enough to secure the points despite a late response from Uko Oji for the hosts The visitors started brightly and capitalised on their dominance in the early stages delivering a pinpoint pass across the face of goal for Nikaj to slot home and it set the tone for a Dover side that looked full of intent Cheshunt struggled to find a foothold in the game with Dover exploiting the wet and windy conditions to great effect and Baptiste nearly doubled the lead in the 18th minute with a curling effort that narrowly missed the far post Dover’s persistence paid off again in the 30th minute and Baptiste saw the latter receive a clever through ball before firing past the Cheshunt goalkeeper to make it 2-0 The Whites could have added a third before the break but Wilkinson’s diving header sailed over the bar Cheshunt came out with more urgency in the second half Cocoracchio made a crucial last-ditch tackle in the 63rd minute to deny the hosts a clear chance Cheshunt began to throw more bodies forward Substitute Uko Oji gave the home side hope in the 83rd Isthmian Premier Division fixture at home to Cheshunt has now been rearranged for Tuesday 7th January The Hertfordshire side were originally due to visit the Alcaline Stadium on Saturday 7th December but the fixture was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch Dartford have another opportunity to create history when they visit Cheshunt on the weekend The Darts will set a new club record of unbeaten league games if they avoid defeat on Saturday and extend their current sequence to 22 matches Last time out Dartford were made to work for their eighth away win in a row when they took maximum points to stay top of the Isthmian Premier Another victory on the road will also set a joint best winning away streak in league competition for the Darts Dartford came from behind last Saturday in their 3-2 win at Hendon The Darts have been in such fine form that they’ve rarely needed to claim points after conceding the first goal the last time Adrian Pennock’s side had to turn an Isthmian Premier match around was on Boxing Day in the Kent derby victory over Cray Wanderers There was plenty going on during last weekend’s game The Darts dropped from first to third and back again all before a hectic seven-minute period in the second half at the Silver Jubilee Stadium Pennock made three changes to the side that drew 0-0 with Chichester City bringing in Eddie Dsane Samir Carruthers was back in the squad after being out with a hamstring injury and made a big impact Match Highlights courtesy of HendonFCOfficial Even though the pack had been shuffled following three games in a week the Darts still managed to negotiate their way to victory Hendon deservedly led at the break after Nikolai Krokhin scored for the hosts The twist and turns of the second half started within five minutes of the restart then on loan Hayden Bullas netted his first for the Darts but on 57 minutes Carruthers converted from the penalty spot for the decisive goal A record Dartford will want to maintain this weekend is their perfect one against Cheshunt The Darts have come out on top in the previous three meetings winning the reverse fixture back in November A dominating first half display saw the Darts lead at half-time thanks to a Carruthers penalty George Whitefield scored a stunner from long range to secure a 2-1 triumph Highlights courtesy of Dartford FC TV Both sides met in the National South during the 2022/2023 season with the Darts winning 2-1 at Princes Park Pierre Fonkeu scored a brace that made all the difference Dajon Golding scored a late consolation for the visitors the Darts were helped by a former player when Rowan Liburd scored an own goal Luke Coulson and Tom Bonner extended the lead before a consolation from the Ambers but form has improved since Boxing Day to pull them eight points clear of the relegation zone long serving manager Craig Edwards departed after defeat against Potters Bar Town The loss left the Ambers second from bottom with five points from their opening eight games A fortnight later former Hampton and Richmond Borough boss and he has since moved the Hertfordshire side up to 15th in the table The new manager will want to improve form at home where the Ambers have only beaten sides currently in the bottom three Gwinnett made eleven changes prior the Hertfordshire Senior Cup semi-final defeat over a week ago Magloire Muyembe and Christian Scott were the only trio retained for last weekend’s fixture against Cray Wanderers It was all looking good for the visitors when former Wand the hosts turned fortunes around with two goals from Nyren Clunis then Soul Kader Cheshunt ended a run of four without victory at Theobalds Lane A last-minute effort from Coker got the Ambers back to winning ways with a 2-1 victory The home side had to come from behind after former Dartford forward Davide Rodari gave relegation threatened Hasting United a first-half advantage Jack Munns levelled for Cheshunt just past the hour mark then Coker decided the game in injury time Dartford wins: 3 / Cheshunt wins: 0 / Draws: 0 Dartford 2 – 1 Cheshunt (09/11/2024 – Isthmian Premier)Cheshunt 1 – 3 Dartford (07/01/2023 â€“ National South)Dartford 2 – 1 Cheshunt Eastbourne Borough back in the National South Jack Jebb’s opener was cancelled out by Greg Luer but Darren McQueen netted a penalty in a 2-1 victory Dartford’s last game on this day ended in an away loss at Hungerford Town in which manager Steve King and Junior Tiensia were sent off Jake Robinson scored a late consolation for the Darts Register  Login The Hertfordshire estate has been sold over a year after it entered administration The former Birch Cheshunt hotel has been sold to boutique brand Surya Hotels off a guide price of ÂŁ12.5m Knight Frank was appointed to sell the Hertfordshire estate after it fell into administration in 2023 which runs 11 boutique hotels in the east of England intends to refurbish the hotel under its own branding which previously operated under the DeVere and Birch brands Over ÂŁ8m has been invested into the estate since 2020 when it opened as the Birch Cheshunt with two restaurants overseen by chef Robin Gill But the hotel closed along with its sister property with administrators blaming the collapse on “cash constraints” said: “We received strong interest and more than ten credible offers for Theobalds Park Estate and are delighted to complete the transaction with Surya Its strategic location and amenities mark it out as a premium asset that can be enhanced further through refurbishment and Surya’s expert management.” Sukhi Dulai at Surya Hotels said: “Theobalds Park Estate is an excellent asset which will bolster our existing portfolio with its impressive facilities historical features and great connectivity “We look forward to the opportunity to refurbish the property under our own branding and operations transforming it into a hotel welcoming both leisure and corporate visitors.” Birch Cheshunt was originally overseen by Chris Penn, former managing director of the Ace Hotel London, and entrepreneur Chris King, both of whom left the business in 2022 The administration of the Birch Selsdon has been extended by a further year while a buyer was sought for the property Sign Up Jacobs Media is a company registered in England and Wales A match that Horsham seemed to have comfortably in their grasp at 2-0 with an hour played was transformed into complete chaos for a 10-minute spell until order was restored and the home side ran out 3-1 winners Chris Dickson gave the Hornets a deserved lead just after the half-hour mark converting a penalty won by the outstanding Reece Meekums to underline the superiority that they had displayed throughout the first period When Dickson notched a second within five minutes of the restart but a fine goal by Vas Vasiliou gave the Ambers hope Dickson then completed his hat-trick to put the game to bed Dom Di Paola made three changes from the travel-weary group that took to the field in Devon on Tuesday evening both unavailable to make the trip to the English Riviera returning to the starting lineup alongside Dickson who picked up a knock early on at Plainmoor but manfully played on missed out for the first time in the league this year while Lucas Rodrigues was given the chance to rest a hip problem Against a Cheshunt side that contained not a single player who appeared in the same fixture last year Horsham looked to get on the front foot from the off and captain Jack Brivio almost opened the scoring in the sixth minute with an audacious lob from 40 yards which looked as though it had a real chance of beating R’avan Constable but the Ambers’ keeper retreated quickly enough to grasp the ball beneath his crossbar Meekums was to prove a massive thorn in the side for the visitors defence all afternoon and he gave the first sign of his threat when his cross found Dickson near the penalty spot A couple of free kicks by Bobby-Joe Taylor threatened something but delivered nothing who endeared himself to everyone even more than normal by doing the rounds of the ground with a huge bag of chocolates Although Horsham had made all the early running it was the visitors who came closest to opening the scoring when Tommy Wood got to Fionn Murphy’s cross first but Lewis Carey scrambled across his goal to scoop the ball away from just in front of the line The Hornets continued to press and a marvellous move involving Jack Strange Fenelon and Meekums led to the latter delivering a lovely cross which Dickson headed over the angle of post and crossbar Meekums continued to cause Murphy all kinds of strife and the young full back was booked for bringing the flying winger down after once more being shown a clean pair of heels A Charlie Hester-Cook header over the bar and a Fenelon flick blocked at the near post added to the sense that the first goal would not be long in coming who burst between Murphy and Alex Gibson-Hammond drawing a foul that no-one in amber had the heart to contest A one-goal margin was the least the Hornets deserved and they started the second half determined to make it two A pair of toe-enders by Hester-Cook and Fenelon nearly released Dickson but Cheshunt skipper Jack Thomas saw off the threat before Fenelon almost profited from brilliant interplay by Meekums and Hester-Cook Dickson muscling his way beyond Da Costa before forcing a shot past Constable Dickson chose to shoot on the Hornets’ next foray with Hester-Cook on his own in the centre punching the air in frustration at not receiving a pass The next to try to bag the third goal was Jake Elliott who came close to opening his account with a rising drive that rose too much but the feeling was that it was only a matter of time Cheshunt scored when Vas Vasiliou accelerated infield from the right swapped passes with substitute Jeremy Bisau and finished crisply into the corner of Carey’s net Dickson came agonisingly close to his hat-trick when he flicked a long Taylor cross over the onrushing Constable only to see the ball roll inches wide of the unguarded net Having come within an ace of clinching the match ball Dickson was then presented the perfect opportunity to seal the deal when Horsham were awarded a second penalty for an apparent handball by Thomas but Constable guessed right and made a good save diving to his left Cheshunt sensed that they had been given a new lease of life Bisau tricked his way to the byline and it was only Gibson-Hammond’s mishit that prevented the scores from being brought level as the Hornets threatened to lose their heads and the lead at the same time Carey charged out of his goal and fouled Sam Granville escaping with a yellow card when some feared a red the Ambers did then find themselves two goals behind again Substitute James Hammond switched play to the marauding Meekums who beat Brandon Bryan-Waugh on the outside and laid the ball on a plate for Dickson finally to close out the hat trick that he had been threatening with Constable flapping at a Lee Harding corner leading to a Taylor shot that was deflected wide Constable then dropped another high ball which would have plopped into his own net had it not been hoofed clear by Raul Da Costa Dickson spurned the chance to add a fourth when he put a free header over from a peach of a cross by Harding before Strange almost marked his 100th appearance in yellow and green with a goal only to see his bullet header cleared off the line by Wood and a second effort from a Hammond corner fizz past the near post It would have been a fitting finale for Strange who had been at his imperious best all afternoon but it was Dickson who was left celebrating leaving the field with a huge smile on his face and the match ball under his arm 15th February 3 pm – Match Preview & Directions for newcomers Cray Wanderers play the first of back to back Saturday home games on 15th February as Cheshunt are welcomed to Flamingo Park for the first time Both teams will come into the game in pretty decent nick with both teams unbeaten in two matches but over a longer period Cray have only lost three of the last fourteen games and Cheshunt two defeats in ten The Wands moved up to 11th in the table last Saturday with an exceptionally professional 4-1 win at Chatham Town who were one of the early season promotion favorites and reversed the score at Flamingo Park back in October Cray silenced a four figure crowd at Chatham with two goals in the first twenty minutes Firstly Josh Williams supplied the first of two assists firstly for Nyren Clunis taking his total to six making him top scorer so far Williams’ then provided another great cross which led to an own goal The impressive Remi Sutton who played for Cheshunt when the teams met in October glanced in a free kick to make it 3-0 before half time for his maiden Wands goal the returning loanee Soul Kader made it 4-0 four minutes into the second half and although Cray conceded a goal a minute later 4-1 never flattered Cray in the slightest Cray have a really tough run in the final stretch of the season but to move on to 42 points after only having only six on 22nd October and maybe one more win in a season where many sides below have to play each other could be enough to preserve safety Cheshunt like Cray made a sticky start to the season but have picked up points certainly since the turn of the year to move up to 15th on 37 points following a hard fought 2-1 win at home to Hastings United last Saturday has made a difference already and scored the winner on Saturday and also scored in the 2-2 draw vs Hendon on 4th February taking his total to three Hastings were ahead at half time but goals from Jack Munns just before the hour and Coker two minutes into added time helped give the Ambers some breathing space from the relegation places When the sides met on 26th October at Cheshunt Cray desperately needed a win and a piece of luck and got it when a clearance went into the net off Charlie Edwards for a 1-0 win which began the clime away from danger Prior to the game Cheshunt came under a change of manager after a poor run of form through September – October and Mel Gwinnett was appointed and has made Cheshunt tough to beat especially away from home where they have won four of the last six games Cheshunt have won away at Hastings United (3-2) Potters Bar Town (2-1) and Canvey Island (1-0) Bowers & Pitsea (1-0) and Hasting United (2-1) Cray Valley and Hendon and lost to Chichester City Leading scorer is Vas Vasiliou with 13 goals This promises to be a real mid February hard as nails contest and one that the winners will need to carve from granite to achieve and should be another great occasion Cray Wanderers play the first of back to back home games to end February as we welcome Cheshunt to Flamingo Park for the first time Here Neil Smith looks back to the last two matches which yielded four points and ended with a fine 4-1 win at one of the  pre-season promotion favourites Chatham Town Let’s begin with a recap of a great win at Chatham Town last Saturday A fantastic win in front of a four figure crowd which takes on to 42 points after 30 games So to go in at half time 3-0 up was very pleasing Soul Kader coming in from Bromley who I cannot thank enough for getting that deal across the line to help us out being picky at the same time we were disappointed to concede a goal as this season the defence has been outstanding To go two nil up in twenty minutes in front of a large crowd I thought was impressive as that puts them on the back foot and allows then for the defence to step forward That’s right you don’t really want to give their crowd something to get behind them with and we had to feel them out a bit and remain compact and we knew we would get the chances Josh Williams I felt was outstanding with his wing play and delivery into the box Eze and Frankie too where Chatham are strong in that area we more than matched them in that department Then the back four being as sturdy as they have been all  season from October onwards we kept their chances to a minimum and took ours Michael has been in and around the first team for around 18 months to a year now and we have been waiting to give him glimpses and chances and he has been earning it with Roy Brooke manager of the U23s and U18s who I watched in their cup semi final at the weekend and there are some good young players coming through who in time we may be looking to integrate as well It was a strange game against Bognor because obviously we had a penalty decision go against us a goal disallowed for offside which later showed it was onside and then they went 1-0 up The boys have shown a real belief and desire to not throw the towel in and to go right into the depths of the game so for Michael coming on to score his first goal was testament to the players The senior players were encouraging the young players who have come on and encouraging the senior players So we want that squad ethic and we have it at the moment in abundance With the young players coming through and the quality of the senior players that we have already got at the club we are integrating that pretty well I think Let’s move it on to today and a Cheshunt side who have been getting some results to move them on to 37 points and a bit of a buffer from the bottom four We ground out a 1-0 win in our previous meeting in October which perhaps wasn’t pretty but it started our revival and began to move up the table All we needed was a lucky break which we got with the ball going in off Charlie Edwards’ backside Lo and behold we would take a win however we got it at the time and I don’t think we have looked back since they are a very strong side and direct and Kenny Coker is scoring goals for them as well and I believe they have gone a goal down in the last two games to score late for a draw and a win and a side you are going to have play for the full ninety and never give them a minutes rest They are fighting to get out of a relegation fight and I believe we need one more win to get to the points total we think would be enough to keep us safe Cray Wanderers FC – Flamingo Park Sports & Leisure – Sidcup By-Pass Flamingo Park lies on the A20 and is the new home of Cray Wanderers and used for the Men and we need the public’s support and I’d ask anyone who lives or works near a small airfield to report any suspicious activity to the police.”A Home Office spokesperson said: “Border Force seized and home against Cray Valley Paper Mills and then on the road at Potters Bar Town on Tuesday night Cheshunt had a rest following their impressive win on the weekend over bottom side Bognor Regis Town Ahead of Dartford’s clash with Potters Bar Town the Darts were level on points with Cheshunt The gap increased by one by full-time thanks to a hard earned 1-1 draw Adrian Pennock made two changes to the side that picked up a point versus Cray Valley Paper Mills just three days earlier The Dartford boss selected the same defence that kept a clean sheet against the Millers In came Jeremiah Pinder for Oliver Box and Duane Ofori-Acheampong for Ade Yusuff The Darts were left to rue missed chances in the first-half especially after being reduced to ten men early in the second-half Josh Hill and Denzelle Olopade all had opportunities before the interval After a caution for kicking the ball away in the first half Ofori-Acheampong was shown a second yellow for a late tackle The striker now faces another suspension following one he has already served for his red card against Bowers and Pitsea just over six weeks ago That dismissal stifled Dartford’s attacking threat however four minutes later Callum Jones won a penalty and Samir Carruthers scored it Shortly afterwards Olopade saw his effort go inches wide Potters Bar Town applied plenty of pressure taking advantage of the extra man The hosts were rewarded with an equaliser with 20 minutes to go through Brandon Adams Dartford were made to dig in for the rest of the match with the hosts hitting the post Sam Okoye limped off during the game and Olopade had time for one more effort The Darts have a perfect record over Cheshunt and will be desperate to keep things that way Cheshunt were the new boys of the National South during 2022/2023 The Ambers made their debut in step two lasting one campaign before relegation sent the Hertfordshire club back to the Isthmian Premier Dartford began their home campaign with a 2-1 win over the Ambers in August 2022 Maxwell Statham made his first appearance for the Darts but it was Pierre Fonkeu’s brace that made all the difference the striker curled a shot from the edge of the box into the Cheshunt net and benefited from Luke Coulson’s and Samir Carruthers excellent interplay in the second half Former Dartford graduate Dajon Golding scored a late consolation for the visitors The Darts had a little help from a former player in the reverse fixture in January 2023 Rowan Liburd gave the Darts a half-time lead putting in his own net Coulson was the influential figure providing the cross for the opener before scoring then he assisted Tom Bonner in the second-half to put Dartford in control the Ambers managed a consolation as the Darts ran out 3-1 winners Cheshunt had to rely on a late surge last season to avoid another drop under the management of Craig Edwards they secured Isthmian Premier safety on the final day at Margate’s expense the Ambers beat Bognor Regis on the opening day but then went seven without a league victory That led to the departure of Edwards after seven years of service to the club and over 300 appearances in the dugout Cheshunt won their two league outings under interim management giving new boss Mel Gwinnett a platform to build on The former Hampton and Richmond Borough manager was appointed towards the end of last month Gwinnett had previously guided the Beavers to a club record unbeaten run an F.A Trophy quarter-final and to within a point of the National South playoffs Whilst Gwinnett’s first two Isthmian Premier games ended in a pair of 1-0 defeats first against Cray Wanderers then Canvey Island his side bounced back with help from striker Vas Vasiliou Last weekend Vasiliou netted a hat-trick in the 4-0 triumph over Bognor Regis Town Dartford wins: 2 / Cheshunt wins: 0 / Draws: 0 Cheshunt 1 – 3 Dartford (07/01/2023 â€“ National South)Dartford 2 – 1 Cheshunt (13/08/2022 – National South) Ryan Hayes and Ollie Berquez secured a 2-0 win over rivals Dover Athletic in the National South 14 years ago Three days after almost causing a F.A Cup shock against Port Vale the Darts travelled to the Crabble and earned their first away victory of the 2010/2011 league campaign Dartford’s last outing on this day was in the F.A Cup away at Salisbury City in the first round Goals from Lee Burns and Max Cornhill weren’t enough in a 4-2 defeat back in 2013 The last home match on 9 November for Dartford was a 1-1 draw with Tooting and Mitcham United At home Dartford are currently five unbeaten on this day alternating between draws and wins Whilst their biggest victory on 9 November came in a friendly 135 years ago The Darts won 12-1 against Horticultural College Hextable Boutique Hotelier has been acquired by Surya Hotels complete the transaction with Surya The property was originally brought to market by Savills in December 2023 for an undisclosed price but was later relisted with Knight Frank last October who were appointed by the joint fixed charge receivers and joint administrators for the hotel a well-equipped gym and extensive meeting and events facilities Birch Hotels fell into administration in November 2023 with Birch Cheshunt closing with immediate effect The brand was launched in summer 2020 by Performance Hotels the management company headed up by ex-Ace Hotel managing director Chris Penn and entrepreneur Chris King who spearheaded the ÂŁ8.5 million transformation of the former De Vere Theobalds Estate Dom Di Paola has been quoted as saying that at this stage of the season it’s not about pretty football it’s all about grinding out results and picking up points That summed this match up precisely; it was scrappy but the Hornets showed that they have a core strength that perhaps was missing in previous seasons The opening stages were lacking in incident with neither goal threatened until Sam Granville popped up in the box in the 14th minute to turn in a loose ball following a long throw from the right The Hornets came back with an equaliser just before the interval through an instinctive close-range strike by Lucas Rodrigues Although Horsham improved in the second half the game seemed to be heading for a stalemate until Lee Harding grabbed the headlines just seconds from the end with an overhead shot from close range Dom Di Paola made just two changes to the side that earned a 1-0 win over Hendon last Saturday bringing in Ola Ogunwamide for Chris Dickson opting for the towering presence of 6’6” Jahiem Whyte at centre forward and giving a debut at centre back to Jack Turner The opening phase of the game was littered with inaccurate passes as neither side managed to retain possession for long The Ambers were playing the ball forward quickly looking for the rangy Thomas up front but the Hornets’ rearguard was largely untroubled The first threat on goal came from a long ball forward into space for Daniel Ajakaiye but the winger’s shot lacked power and was straight into the hands of Cheshunt ‘keeper Meekums was again involved in the next promising moment for the visitors when he spun turned and crossed in one quick movement to pick out Rodrigues in the middle of the box The diminutive Brazilian bravely stretched to get a touch to the ball but was knocked off his feet by a meaty challenge The goal for the Ambers came indirectly from a long throw-in by Darion Furlong from the right Whyte’s aerial presence in the box caused panic and a ball that should have been hoofed away ran loose to Granville who put his side ahead from inside the six-yard box It was a wake-up call the Hornets needed and they gradually started to put their possession game together although chances were few and far between for either side Ogunwamide made a neat turn to lose Lordon Akolbire who pulled him back and received a yellow card for his cynical action while Rodrigues did well down the right to win the ball and deliver a searching cross into the middle Just as it looked as though the Ambers would go into the break a goal to the good made for the byline and clipped a delicious cross into the middle Rodrigues leapt high to nod the ball downwards at point-blank range Rodrigues was on to it in a flash to poke into the net Sparks got the second half going with a decent strike on target gathered at the second attempt by Constable but the clearest chance fell to Ogunwamide whose powerful drive beat the goalkeeper but not the covering Turner There was a bit of pressure from a couple of corners as Cheshunt pushed to try and get on the front foot As the game became more intense and competitive James Hammond was next in the book for a foul on Granville hurting himself in the process and having to be replaced by Jack Brivio Ajakaiye’s breakaway threatened but his shot from distance was no trouble for the ’keeper Di Paola freshened up his team with a flurry of substitutions as the match entered the final quarter of an hour Shamir Fenelon and Charlie Hester-Cook all introduced There was a nervy moment when the commanding Isaac Philpot made his first mistake of the game when he got the ball stuck under his feet very close to goal and was almost caught in possession but he managed to smuggle it away for a corner As the game moved into the last seconds and looked to be heading for a draw Harding shocked the Ambers with his spectacular close-range winner sending the visiting supporters into raptures There was still time for a scare at the other end when Nathaniel Orafu headed against the post but the assistant referee had already raised his flag it’s ‘as you were’ at the top of the table Sitting in third place with five games to play will be disappointed to have got nothing out of a game in which they largely matched their opponents but they look to have more than enough in their locker to steer well away from the relegation places You can view the full @ButterflyFootie match gallery HERE or by clicking on the link 14-game unbeaten home run and boosting their playoff hopes Dover fell behind to a fine Joshua Williams strike with George Nikaj netting his 20th goal of the season just before halftime Ruben Soares-Junior then scored the winner in the 66th minute but Dover’s defence held firm through eight minutes of added time to seal a vital win at Flamingo Park Dover Athletic earned a gritty 2-1 win at Cheshunt with first-half goals from George Nikaj and Luke Baptiste sealing the points despite a late scare Nikaj opened the scoring in the 4th minute after a fine run and cross from Ruben Soares-Junior finishing a slick move involving Nikaj and Alfie Matthews Uko Oji pulled one back in the 83rd minute but Dover managed the closing stages well to secure a deserved and hard-fought away victory They play a totally different style of football to Cray They’re strong and we will have to put your bodies on the line We had a brilliant performance down there and a brilliant result but it’s not going to be easy we’ve got to stand up to the challenge.” Cheshunt suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 defeat at Horsham conceding a 93rd-minute winner despite taking an early lead Captain Sam Granville fired the Ambers ahead in the 14th minute capitalising on a loose ball after a long throw-in that proved to be their only shot on target and while Cheshunt defended resolutely in a tense second half—with debutant Jack Turner clearing off the line—they were ultimately undone by Lee Harding’s late flick who had battled hard but left empty-handed as the season nears its conclusion Cheshunt sit
