If there’s one thing that kids these days are madly
it’s Paw Patrol. There are cute puppies, transforming cars
cool gadgets and catchy tunes – it’s the perfect formula
And what could possibly be better than watching Paw Patrol on TV
because in 2026 that’ll become a possibility
Chessington World of Adventures will become the home of the UK’s very first Paw Patrol land.
There is already a Paw Patrol Adventure Bay at Nickelodeon Adventure Lakeside in Blackpool Pleasure Beach
but this will be the first theme park area fully dedicated to the TV show
Spanning 1.4 acres and built for kids aged around two to five years old
play areas and interactive character ‘meet and greet’ events
Those rides will include an entry-level ‘my first rollercoaster’ for the little ones.
While Paw Patrol land won’t be ready until 2026
Skye and Rubble from this spring as they help oversee construction
Meet and greet experiences will open from May 24. From September 3 to September 26
the park will launch PAW Patrol Autumn Adventure
offering fans the chance to meet their favourite pups and have access to 20 preschool rides and attractions.

Themed land will replace Chessington‘s Wild Asia area
Chessington World of Adventures is set to build a new land with a roller coaster and family-friendly attractions now that planning permission has been granted
Merlin Entertainments’ plans to construct the new themed land to replace Chessington‘s Wild Asia area have been approved by Kingston Council
Chessington recently retired Wild Asia after 15 years of operation
The park said it was closing the land as part of a “new chapter”
The Kobra ride will remain and will be reimagined
The new land will also include a coaster with indoor and outdoor sections
The theme of the new land is yet to be confirmed by Chessington
but construction work is expected to start this year and be completed by 2027
In the planning documents, Merlin said it plans to transform Chessington into a year-round theme park
and needs to keep investing in the park to compete with other local visitor attractions
The documents say: “The ‘need’ to continue investing in the right way is critical to the resort’s success, and in doing so will help to ensure it is able to compete with other leisure/visitor attractions in the South East, e.g. Paultons Park in Hampshire and Warner Bros
Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter
“Merlin is very keen for the resort to become a year-round attraction and the indoor elements proposed in the new themed land would help this transition
This ‘evolution’ will add to the attractiveness of the resort to guests and will help to ‘smooth’ the visitor number profile
potentially reducing the summer peak and spreading this into other months.”
Chessington is also planning an indoor water park with pools
Last year, the park opened the world’s first Jumanji-themed land. The £17 million ‘World of Jumanji’ land boasts three new rides

new you’ health kicks are in full swing for many this January - and the 1,000 animals at Chessington World of Adventures Zoo are no exception
The Greater London zoo’s keepers have had a busy start to the year performing a series of important health checks behind the scenes as part of the zoo’s ‘New Year Animal Health MOT’
faecal sampling to weight tracking – the zookeepers have been hard at work making sure all 1,000 of the attraction’s animals are set for a healthy year ahead
The zoo’s resident Southern White Rhinos had their horns treated with salve to prevent cracking and breaking
Their dung was also examined as the keepers carried out the regular faecal sampling to ensure their health and diet are in check
All five bachelor Rothschild’s giraffes enjoyed hoof pedicures to ensure their hard-working hooves were in tip top shape
And the zoo’s popular penguins formed an orderly queue as they waited in line to have their January weight checked at Penguin Bay

But how many of us receive gifts of perfume we don’t need
New research (Survey of 2,000 UK adults conducted by YouGov on behalf of Chessington World of Adventures Resort) shows that perfume is among the top five (16%) Christmas gifts Brits receive but don’t need
alongside chocolates (37%) toiletries (32%)
Across the UK countless leftover bottles gather dust in bathroom cupboards
with over 1 in 10 (14%) Brits admit to having five or more unopened or partially used perfumes at home
This year Chessington World of Adventures is giving these forgotten fragrances a new lease of life
offering a unique opportunity to turn them into a gift for good
Chessington’s zookeepers are calling on the public to donate their unused perfumes to support the animals’ enrichment programme
Animal enrichment involves providing activities that encourage animals to exhibit natural behaviours similar to those they would display in the wild
The donated fragrances will be used to help create stimulating sensory experiences for the zoo’s mammals including meerkats
Animal enrichment is a vital part of Chessington Zoo’s enrichment programme
which focuses on five categories: nutritional
Sensory enrichment stimulates animals’ ‘Flehmen Response’
which is a natural behaviour that allows creatures to access information carried through smell
This type of enrichment also has health advantages including increasing fitness
building muscle and allowing the animals to interact with their environment
Visitors can take part in the initiative by dropping off their sealed
unused perfumes at the resort’s Lodge Entrance between Christmas and the New Year
It’s an easy way to make a meaningful contribution to the wellbeing of the zoo’s animals while enjoying the festive fun at Chessington World of Adventures

CHESSINGTON World of Adventure resort is getting a revamp in the form of a whole new land
Permission has been granted by Kingston Council to build a new land at the theme park with lots of new rides and attractions
The theme park in Surrey is set to open a new area of its park within the next two years
Rather than expanding the park, Chessington is actually redeveloping one of its oldest areas
In March 2025, Chessington announced the 'retirement' of Wild Asia after 15 years of operation
They announced that Wild Asia would not open for the 2025 season - and the reason was that it would form part of "a new chapter" for the theme park
will be kept and rethemed for the new attraction
The new land will have a rollercoaster with indoor and outdoor sections
Plans reveal there will also be immersive children's rides
themed play areas and sensory environments for families with children aged six to 12
Also added to the land will be new food and drink outlets with themed menus, a courtyard and a gift shop.
And construction work is expected to begin this year and be completed by 2027
Liberal Democrat councillor Jackie Davies said: "I think it's a shame to cover up what is a lot of open land with a big building
"On the other hand… indoor rides and outdoor rides [provide the] best of both worlds
it takes a lot of people out of the queue for the other rides
so I'm definitely in favour of it."
The new themed lands aren't the only new attraction that's set to open at Chessington World of Adventures, with the resort confirming a waterpark will be added to its line-up
Announced last year, the waterpark, will be a huge attraction and the hope is that it will rival the likes of Disney.
plans were submitted to expand the resort's safari hotel to build the waterpark
Plus, Sun Travel visited Chessington World of Adventures, and this is what we thought
And the UK’s first Universal theme park with 500-room hotel finally gets green light

Spooky season is on the horizon and Chessington World of Adventures is as ready as the rest of us
the family theme park is bringing back it's annual Howl'o'ween celebrations; a series of after-dark events which include ghostly shows
scary mazes and rollercoaster rides at dusk
Chessington pulls out all the shocks for parents and children of all ages with attractions like the Vile Villagers
Howl'o'ween takes place every weekend in October and throughout the October half-term
doesn't mean tickets will stay on sale for long
In the past this event has proved hugely popular so booking tickets in advance is a supernaturally good idea
If you take one thing away from this article
it should be book online and in advance as you're guaranteed entry
let's get on with this un-boo-lievably good event
Buy Chessington Howl'o'ween tickets from £32 at Chessington
We've also got guides on how to get cheap Chessington tickets, how to get cheap Alton Towers tickets and how to get cheap Thorpe Park tickets
Chessington's annual Howl'o'ween events include an entire makeover for the park and a ton of spooky activities for all the family
Across the month the theme park will be open later so you can go on the rides at dusk
plus there's additional mazes and attractions put up specially for the holiday
Shows like Banyan – The Final Flame will run throughout and for the younger kids Werewolf Wilf and Violet the Vampire Bat will be hosting a party on the mini stage
At the Wild Woods towards the back of the park the Vile Villagers maze is back with plenty of freaky-faced actors ready to chase you
The Enchanted Hollow is a children's Trick or Treat maze which you'll need to buy additional tickets for
you'll wander through a range of spooky sets and meet the animals and townsfolk
who may give you a treat or play a sneaky trick
Children also get given a bag of treats to take around with them
Howl'o'ween takes place on the following weekends: 5th – 6th October
then everyday from 19th October – 3rd November
Howl'o'ween is billed as for \"families of all ages,\" so it's unlikely to be too scary
As a whole Chessington is recommended for children between the ages of 6 and 13
so we'd recommend taking the same approach here
like the Mini Stage where Werewolf Wilf and Violet the Vampire Bat host their own Halloween party
Plus all the \"Little Rangers\" rides will be open at dusk
That doesn't mean there won't be scare potential
For those in the \"Brave Adventurers\" category
alongside award-winning shows like The Final Flame
the Vile Villagers maze will be open towards the back of the park
where you'll find a whole host of actors ready to scare you
Depending on your definition of \"scary\" this title probably goes to Dragon's Fury or the Vampire Ride
Dragon's Fury has a ton of dizzying twists and turns
dips and dives and all the while your car is spinning away from a fire-breathing (not real fire) dragon
the Vampire ride flings you around over the tree-tops at speeds of 45 mph
Both of these have a height restriction of 1.2m and 1.1m respectively
and are recommended for the more strong-stomached riders
Howl'o'ween tickets start at £32 when you buy online in advance and £64 if you walk up on the day
These standard entry tickets get you one day access to the Theme Park
Remember if you want tickets to the Enchanted Hollow – where you'll play Trick or Treat with the animal townsfolk – you'll need to buy additional tickets
These cost £5 for adults and £10 for children (who get an additional treat bag)
You can also book a Howl'o'ween short break from £57 per person
which includes a one-night stay at the theme park
plus early ride time and animal meet and greets
For repeat visits, you can check out the Chessington Annual Pass from £59 or the Merlin Annual Pass from £99 per person. More of this in what is the Merlin Pass

I HAVE never checked into a hotel room to start searching for shovels
And all so we could crack the code to open a safe containing
That’s the challenge our grandchildren gleefully accepted at Chessington World of Adventures Resort
squealed as they rushed around the room (don’t panic
the axes and everything else were printed on the wallpaper or carpet.)
Chessington was my favourite theme park when my children were young and back with the grandchildren
There was a comfy double bed for me and husband David, bunkbeds with a pull-out trundle bed for the kids and a bathroom in between.
Keep your eyes peeled for special events, too. Anyone visiting next weekend, for example, can be in with a chance of winning one of 100 fast-track tickets (worth £60pp) if they come dressed in Vampire fancy dress.
We hit the ground running, literally. The kids bounced along sky-high rope walkways on the Amazu adventure trail and clambered on the Adventure Tree carousel ride.
where we encountered the witch and braved the dragon while weaving our way through glass mirrors
Time to get a bit wet on The Gruffalo River Ride Adventure and the spinning
When the grandparents needed a caffeine booster and the kids needed to give us a break, Ben & Jerry’s milkshakes did the trick
There are plenty of other food options too
take a picnic and sit at one of the tables around the park
the hotels’ Zafari Bar & Grill and buffet-style Temple Restaurant are excellent
with a great choice of food for all the family
with kids’ dishes from £6.50 and a packed buffet breakfast for the following morning
One big advantage of staying in a resort hotel is you have access to the superb Savannah splash pool and to the park an hour before day visitors
Thanks goodness Lois passed the one-metre height rule to rock along in the open-sided 30-seat truck to see giraffes
Chessington is home to more than 1,000 animals
While the Sea Life Centre has wondrous creatures including sharks
With our youngsters, we had to stick to the gentler rides – apart from Albie who proudly plunged 82ft on Croc Drop – but older kids will love Mandrill Mayhem
the world’s only Jumanji coaster which flips you upside down
The grandkids still have those to look forward to and next time opening the safe will be child’s play
Overnight stays at Chessington’s hotels start from £53pp including park entry and there is currently an offer giving you your second day FREE
Howl’o’ween at Chessington World of Adventures is set to offer spooky fun for the whole family this Autumn
with spine-tingling adventures taking place on 5th to 6th and 12th to 13th October
as well as 19th October to 3rd November 2024
Britain's biggest wildlife theme park is gearing up for a magical mix of Halloween fun for all ages
featuring a range of spellbinding entertainment
Highlights include the popular Enchanted Halloween Trick or Treat and a charming pumpkin patch
Guests young and old can also experience their favourite theme park rides with an eerie twist at dusk
while little explorers are invited to participate in Halloween fancy dress competitions for a chance to show off their spookiest costumes
The award-winning fire and special effects dance show Banyan – The Final Flame will be performed at Adventure Point
while loveable werewolf and friendly vampire bat
will delight little ones on the Mini Stage
YouTube sensation Cocomelon’s JJ and Cody will also make appearances to celebrate the Halloween season
For those seeking their first taste of Halloween fright
Wild Woods transforms into a scare zone playing host to the Vile Villagers who are on the hunt for new souls to join their fang-tastic club
Families can also extend their spooky season experience with a Halloween short break at one of Chessington's resort hotels
Visitors will also enjoy all the experiences at Britain’s wildest adventure
and reptiles spread across the 128-acre resort
and River Rafts will be part of the thrilling experience

A HUGE new theme park land in the UK has taken a step closer to opening
Chessington World of Adventures has submitted its plans to the local council for its massive multi-million project
First announced back in October
the new themed land will have a mix of rides and attractions
The theme of the land is yet to be revealed
although there will be both indoor and outdoor rollercoasters
The current Kobra ride will be one of them
although is being reimagined as part of the new land
An immersive family ride as well as play areas and sensory zones will be your younger guests
It will replace the current Wild Asia area and nearby glamping site
The new indoor rides hope to make Chessington a 'year-round theme park'
"This ‘evolution’ will add to the attractiveness of the resort to guests and will help to ‘smooth’ the visitor number profile
Another new themed land being planned at Chessington hopes to take on Alton Towers' CBeebies Land
Replacing part of the Mexicana and Children's Zoo
the land will have rides for younger guests
And announced last year was plans for a huge new waterpark at Chessington.
Hoping to 'rival Disneyland,' the water attraction would have wave pools and infinity pools
An 'adventure river' splash zone and 'beach' would be part of the attraction along with a spa
The current Safari Hotel would also be expanded as part of the land
An official opening date is yet to be confirmed for any of the lands
Chessington only became a theme park in 1987
Recent new additions to the park include the WORLD of Jumanji land last year, with three new rides, as well as the new Shipwreck Coast land with two rides
Here are five other great UK theme parks you might not know about
Thames Water has announced the completion of a significant £14M project aimed at enhancing the drinking water supply for the Chessington area in Surrey
which involved the replacement of 1.7km of outdated pipework
is expected to improve reliability for both residents and local businesses by reducing the risk of leaks and supply interruptions
The upgrade saw the installation of a new 600mm diameter pipe
which was carried out by Galliford Try Construction
the project employed advanced construction techniques including directional drilling
which reduces the environmental impact associated with traditional digging methods
Directional drilling involves creating a pilot hole underground
followed by the pulling back through the hold with a rotating cutting tool
The brand-new water pipe follows closely behind
The process was executed carefully to avoid any disruption to the water supply for local customers
particularly given that the area is classified as a National Character Area
Thames Water’s investment is part of a broader initiative to modernise infrastructure and enhance water supply systems across the region
amid rising concerns over water security and sustainability
Local residents will soon benefit from improved service reliability as this upgrade is expected to bolster the efficiency of water delivery in the Chessington area
London infrastructure delivery Mark Taylor said: “This investment will provide more resilience to the Chessington area
and helps future-proof for development and growth
It is a fantastic example of Thames Water investing across the region
to upgrade our ageing infrastructure and supply the highest quality of drinking water for decades to come.”
Galliford Try Construction operations director John Kingdon said: “The Galliford Try team have been proud to work with Thames Water to deliver significant water supply resilience to the Chessington area and manage the day-to-day logistics of this intrusive work
The whole team have done a great job minimising impact to customers and working with the community for their benefit.”

We’re all familiar with the ‘quiet carriage’
Chessington World of Adventures and South Western Railway are flipping that on its head this summer and creating a dedicated Noisy Carriage for families heading from London Waterloo to Chessington South as the holidays kick off
The Noisy Carriage will have DJs and entertainers from Chessington’s Summer Festival event
to get the party started before arriving at the theme park
Departing from Waterloo at 9.17am on Monday 29th and Wednesday 31st July
the 36-minute journey to Chessington South is designed to make sure parents can rest easy without worrying about the embarrassment of their kids acting up in a quiet public place
This comes as new research1 from Chessington reveals that two-thirds (61%) of parents find their kids’ embarrassing behaviour stressful
and one in three parents (33%) say they struggle to get their kids to sit still and keep quiet on public transport
Some of the most common places parents are embarrassed by their kids are supermarkets
27% of parents even wish there were more public spaces where their kids could run riot
The top reasons for parents being embarrassed by their kids in public include: their child running away or wandering off when they have asked them not to (29%)
and commenting on people around them with no filter (25%)
play and shout for the entire journey – handy for the 10% of parents who say their kids singing at the top of their lungs is a source of embarrassment for them
A quarter of parents (23%) say someone has commented on their child’s bad behaviour in public – which is perhaps why 28% of parents resort to ‘bribery’ like sweets and screen time in a bid to keep kids quiet
The research found kids are most embarrassing between the ages of two and four
One unfortunate respondent said their child noticed a man with a big nose on the bus and proceeded to loudly call him “Pinocchio”
Another parent remembered her child steering the shopping trolley into a large display in the supermarket and then running away
But while ‘spirited’ children might leave parents feeling anxious about going to a public place
our research found that parents also feel empathetic to others
with hundreds of those surveyed sharing advice to others not to worry
and remember that you are not alone and that all parents have been through it
To book a place on the Noisy Carriage, simply purchase a ticket for the 09.17 train from London Waterloo to Chessington South on 29 July or 31 July at southwesternrailway.com or on the SWR app, or tap in with your Oyster or contactless card. And pre-book your Chessington World of Adventures day ticket at www.chessington.com
from only £29 per person which includes entry to the theme park
Advance booking is advised to guarantee entry
T's & C’s: Spaces on the Noisy Carriage will be available on a first come
first served basis based on carriage capacity
