Ian joined the lottery while living with his nan in Chipping Ongar
and then kept playing with her postcode after flitting to a new home 11 miles away with his husband
broke down after bagging his windfall and revealed that winning with his old address made it more special
I called Postcode Lottery to change the address and then thought that I wouldn't
The house has been in my life since I was born
Ian celebrated with six of his former neighbours in nearby Chipping Ongar after CM5 0BU bagged our weekly £1m Millionaire Street prize today
but two neighbours doubled their prizes by playing with two tickets
Ian and his hubby Ollie had moved in with his grandmother
But he only told his partner and parents that he hadn't switched his postcode after getting a call to say he'd won
When Postcode Lottery ambassador Matt Johnson presented him with his cheque
Ian and Ollie were hugged by his tearful parents
It couldn't have happened to a better two people
"When Ian first rang me and said he had won with my mum's address
I didn't realise you could play with another postcode
The fact that he carried on playing with that postcode after moving is amazing
I said to my mum that we'd tell her as soon as they found out
She was just so pleased that they had won anything
Local authority supervisor Sean added: "Donna letting them live at her mum's house is the reason why People's Postcode Lottery are here today
It's one of those goodwill things that has led to this."
Now Ian and compliance manager Ollie - who married in October 2019 - have big plans for their future
including pimping up a holiday they already have booked
The couple are set to jet off on a two-week road trip to Canada's west coast in April
said: "We might have a look at hotels that we're staying in and make some upgrades
"We might also look for something a bit more exciting to do when we're there that we would never have entertained before."
And they want to plough some cash into more home improvements at the semi they have transformed since buying it three years ago
so a bit more space and another bathroom would be nice
Ian told us how he would've been left gutted if he'd switched his postcode and then found out his old street had won
He said: "I would have been fuming at myself
I'm pleased for all the people that still live there."
I've been sat looking out the window for the past couple of hours
cuddling the couple's lively pet Jug Dot - a cross between a Jack Russell and a Pug - said: "We've got some champagne in the fridge."
good friends and next-door neighbours Steven Smith and Neil Nagle congratulated each other after revealing their £111,111 cheques together
The families are so close they've even installed a gate in the fence between both homes so they can get easier access
Now wheelchair-user Steven - left paralysed from the waist down after cancer spread to his spinal cord - and wife Lynn will use their win to make further adaptations at their home and holiday caravan
who has been cancer-free for around seven years
said: "We've had to do quite a lot of things to the house
We'll pay for more adaptations and improve my quality of life
My wife Lynn and his wife walk the dogs together every day
Neil said the win would boost his and his wife Corinne's retirement
They have five children and four grandchildren
You don't think you're ever going to win anything like that
We're the best of friends and have been neighbours for a long while
All of the neighbours first signed up to support local
One organisation near them has benefitted from their wins
Ongar and District Community Association (ODCA) has been awarded £30,000 by Postcode Community Trust
ODCA operates Budworth Hall - a landmark Grade 2 listed Victorian Building erected in 1886
said: "Budworth Hall is steeped in history
and we are deeply privileged to be custodians of the building
"A building of this scale comes with significant costs
and with our current renovation projects going on
we have a lot of spend to commit to throughout the year."
Budworth Hall houses a ballroom with an adjacent kitchen
The rooms are available for hire by local groups
The ballroom is currently being renovated and repaired with a view to opening back up in the coming months
Budworth Hall's purpose has been to cater for the community
Budworth Hall became a hospital for wounded and sick troops
and Budworth Hall is the home of many groups
as well as expanding plans to become a wedding venue."
The funding awarded to ODCA will be spread across multiple projects
including ongoing renovations and improving the Hall's accessibility
Other local organisations who have been awarded funding include:

Reform UK has won another council seat in an area that has postponed local elections until next year
It comes days after a Reform candidate won a by-election in West Sussex - another area given the go-ahead to delay their election until May 2026 under Labour's devolution plan to turn two-tier councils in England into unitary authorities
The win adds to Nigel Farage's momentum going into May 1
when voters will head to the polls in 23 areas across England to choose new councillors
With the Conservatives defending a very high baseline and Reform fielding the most candidates
Reform is projected to win hundreds of seats
Annie-May O'Neill has been elected unopposed to Ongar Town Council
located in the Epping Forest District of Essex
A by-election will also be held for a vacant Shelley Ward seat on the council
The Chipping Ongar ward seat became vacant with the resignation of Cormac O'Neil
telling his followers that "Reform has all the momentum in British politics"
O'Neill said it would be a "true honour" to serve the people of Ongar
Reform UK gains another council seat in area delayed under Labour as Keir Starmer faces ballot box vengeance
Although the Conservatives and Labour did not field a candidate in the Ongar seat
a clear pattern is emerging ahead of May 1
The win in Essex shares a common characteristic with Reform candidate Giuliano Pinnelli's narrow by-election victory in the Bognor Regis Marine Ward seat last week
West Sussex and Essex were among nine councils granted permission to delay their elections until 2026 under Labour's devolution plans
The government plans to turn two-tier councils in England into unitary authorities
The councils insist that delaying their elections to May 2026 will buy them time to make the necessary structural changes
Angela Rayner said that holding elections for bodies that were due to be scrapped would be "an expensive and irresponsible waste of taxpayers' money"
accusing Labour of "colluding" with the Conservatives to thwart the insurgent party's rise to power as the delays are in areas where a strong turnout is expected
Those looking forward to voting for Reform on May 1 also share this sentiment, with a growing number threatening to withhold their council tax out of protest
pollsters project Farage's party winning big on Thursday
hint at what Reform could have achieved if elections were going ahead
It also portends a reckoning at the ballot box
with voters potentially registering their discontent at Labour's move on May 1
He said: “Fewer than half of the people who tell pollsters how they are going to vote say they are going to vote either Conservative or Labour
This is consistent with a polling prediction from Lord Hayward
who expects the Tories to lose between 475 and 525 local authority seats
including CPR and equip yourself to save a life

drawing participants from across Essex and beyond

whose son was airlifted by an air ambulance after a serious accident 10 years ago

HOUSING PROPOSAL: An artist's impression of the proposed Chipping Ongar development (Image: Bellway)
Bellway has submitted a full planning application for the development of 85 new homes in Chipping Ongar
which would boost the local economy while improving infrastructure and services
The company's detailed proposals include 51 homes for private sale and 34 affordable homes and are being considered by Epping Forest District Council
The plans feature a range of energy-efficient home designs
from one and two-bedroom maisonettes to two to five-bedroom houses
with materials and architectural features taking inspiration from the local area to ensure the development is sensitive to its surroundings
The homes would all have access to electric vehicle charging points
with selected properties benefitting from PV solar panels
the housebuilder's sustainability strategy
said: "We have worked closely with Epping Forest District Council to develop a thoughtful scheme that takes account of local design considerations to create a development of exceptional quality
it will provide a boost to the local economy
not only through the creation of new jobs during construction and economic activity from the new residents but also from the contributions to local infrastructure and services that we will commit to as part of the planning agreement
"Those benefits are in addition to the delivery of much-needed homes for the local area
in particular a range of affordable properties for affordable rent or shared ownership
"This will be a highly inclusive neighbourhood
with 95% of the homes designed to be more easily accessible and adaptable for those with reduced mobility or wheelchair users
Sustainable design and construction methods have also been incorporated into the scheme so that carbon emissions from the development are reduced."
The proposed development at Greensted Road is on an eight-and-a-half-acre site to the southwest of the town
The site has been allocated for housing in the council's Local Plan
The application features soft landscaping areas which would deliver ecological and environmental benefits
native planting and a wildflower grass mix would be planted to increase the biodiversity of the site
A central area of green open space would include a children's play area
while a three-metre-wide cycleway is proposed across the development to promote sustainable travel
we have committed to minimise our environmental impact and to promote biodiversity across all of our divisions
The plans submitted to Epping Forest District Council detail our pledge to bring more natural sustainable habitats to Chipping Ongar
"We have also partnered with the conservation charity Plantlife to ensure we are promoting biodiversity and sustainability throughout the UK."

The Willingale community gathered en masse on Sunday to commemorate the USAAF pilots and crew who flew from Willingale Airfield (RAF Chipping Ongar) during the Second World War. A campaign is underway to open the Cause for the Beatification for a heroic young priest priest who died on the Titanic

His parish had organised a special collection to fund the trip
Eyewitness reports say Father Byles had celebrated Mass for second-class passengers on the morning of the disaster

Fr Byles was offered a lifeboat place several times but he refused
hear confessions and pray with those still on board
In the ship's final moments Fr Byles prayed with the 100 plus passengers trapped at the stern
Catholics and Jews knelt in the rising waters as he gave absolution to all
Later Fr Byles family had an audience with Pope Pius X
He was ordained as a priest in 1902 and came to the Essex parish in 1905

The inscription reads: 'Pray for Rev Thomas Byles for eight years rector of this mission
In his heroic death in the disaster SS Titanic April 15 1912 he earnestly devoted his last moments to the religious consolation of his fellow passengers'
a memorial plaque commemorating Father Byles was unveiled at Fr Byles' old school
by Bishop of Lancaster the Right Rev Michael Campbell
The current parish priest at St Helen's church says he believes Fr Byles is a saint
Father Graham Smith told the BBC: "He was an extraordinary man who gave his life for others

We hope people around the world will pray to him if they are in need and
then beatification and then canonisation can go forward."

A juvenile has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the fatal stabbing of a man in Ongar, Dublin 15 on Tuesday evening.
Gardaí believe the victim of the attack, Aaron Keating, who was in his 40s, was targeted outside shops on Ongar Main Street at about 7pm after an earlier altercation in the area. It is understood the attacker ran from the scene down a nearby laneway.
The victim was conscious for a period after being wounded but then slumped to the ground and became unresponsive. The emergency services were called immediately and the man was treated on the street by paramedics.
He was taken by ambulance to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown but was pronounced dead a short time later. Gardaí then began a murder investigation.
In a statement on Wednesday, the force said gardaí from Blanchardstown had earlier arrested a male teenager on suspicion of the man’s murder.
“The juvenile is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda station in west Dublin,” it said in a statement.
There were a number of witnesses at the scene and the area was also covered by CCTV from nearby businesses. Gardaí urged people not to share footage of the aftermath of the attack, which show local people going to the victim’s aid before paramedics arrived. It has been circulating on social media.
It is understood a number of bystanders who saw the stabbing were also present minutes earlier when a confrontation believed to have preceded the fatal attack took place.
The area where the murder occurred was sealed off immediately by gardaí and was secured overnight. It was being examined by members of the Garda Technical Bureau on Wednesday morning as part of the evidence gathering phase of the inquiry. A postmortem was due to be carried out on the deceased man on Wednesday.
Gardaí have also spoken to some of the witnesses who were at the scene and more substantive statements are expected to be taken on Wednesday.
Mr Keating’s family has been contacted and informed of his death and a Garda family liaison officer has been appointed to assist them
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact gardaí at Blanchardstown on (01) 6667000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.

Two men have been jailed for a combined 30 years after supplying several kilograms of cocaine to organised drug dealing groups across Essex and London
Police recovered 76 kilos of the Class A drugs while tracking 47 year old Christopher Low from Chipping Ongar and 52 year old Michael Henson
from Harlow between May and September last year
Low organised and arranged collection of the drugs with help from Henson
who had access to large sums of cash to pay for the deals
On September 8 Low was stopped with a suitcase he'd picked up from Brentford
It was found to contain 40kg of cocaine with a street value of £3.2m
Henson became violent towards officers as he was arrested outside his home the same day
37kg of cocaine was found hidden in a garden shed
Low and Henson were subsequently charged with conspiracy to supply class A drugs
possessing criminal property and producing class B drugs
They pleaded guilty at Chelmsford Crown Court in October 2021 and were jailed for 16 years and 14 years respectively today
from the Organised Crime Partnership - a join unit run by the Met Police and National Crime Agency said: “Low and Henson oversaw a criminal enterprise which resulted in large amounts of cocaine ending up on our streets
“Class A drugs like cocaine have no place in our society
where they cause exploitation and suffering
Through this strong partnership between the NCA and the Met
we will continue to pursue organised criminals like Low and Henson and bring them to justice.”
