Granada Reports the community is in shock Video captured moments after the explosion on Friday showed how quickly the fire spread through the property There's still no indication as to what caused the explosion The site is located close to other commercial uses The fast food giant is consulting on proposals to build an outlet on the site of the former Beaumont pub in the Lancashire town McDonald’s wants to construct the restaurant on the one-acre former Beaumont site off Woodale Road was put up for sale with a guide price of £1.25m last year A website set up to host the consultation on McDonald’s proposals states that the site is in “an ideal location for a new drive-thru restaurant” due to its proximity to an existing commercial area View the consultation  McDonald’s claims that the restaurant would be in “a convenient location for the people of Clayton-le-Woods and the surrounding area It is estimated the site could create 120 jobs McDonald’s is also progressing plans for a restaurant in Cheadle Hulme Children would hang around late a night causing problems for residents they cause unnecessary traffic and people litter their rubbish out their car windows I would object to mc Donald’s building a drive through in clayton le woods there are sufficient mc Donald’s close by in Chorley and Leyland. These sites have been plagued by anti social behaviour as a congregation place for youths Clayton le woods does not have police close to hand to respond I also would like to see evidence as to the claim of number of jobs this would create and how the increase in traffic would be managed The area has a number of residential areas in close proximity the impact on them would no doubt be felt significantly a company headed up by local businessman Kai Chu Wong has submitted an application for a 115-home development next to Campbells Park Homes caravan park in Chorley would be made up of  two- and three-bedroom semi-detached homes The site had once been earmarked for an extension of the caravan park Consent for the siting of 52 caravans was granted in 2013 The scheme has sparked controversy among locals who are unhappy that the application process is ongoing despite the current restrictions due to Covid-19 the developer intends to deliver “significant off-site improvement works to Nell Lane senior director and head of Lichfield’s Manchester office said: “The proposals are of high-quality design situated within a sustainable location for this type of scheme “The site has been identified as suitable for housing and in an area where Chorley Borough Council wants to direct growth and investment.”  DLA Design is the architect for the scheme Developers Roseland Capital Property and Monaco Nell Lane can press ahead with plans to build 115 homes in Clayton-le-Woods following a successful appeal Chorley Council refused the companies’ application to redevelop the 8.5-acre Nell Lane site in October 2020 due to a lack of affordable housing the developers pointed to the scheme’s viability as the reason for not proposing any affordable homes on site The developers maintain their viability appraisal was robust but that they have agreed to provide 34 homes available at below 80% of the market rent “in the interest of bringing the site forward” The scheme will comprise a mix of two- and three-bedroom semi-detached homes The site is bounded to the north by Nell Lane to the south by Redrow Homes’ The Hedgerows development and to the west by Cuerden Valley Residential Park Lichfields is the planning consultant for the project and DLA Design is the architect DAC Beachcroft represented the developers through the appeal process Would also like to understand why we need traffic chicanes in Nell Lane that are quite insensitive to the rural feel It is a dangerous rat-run and I have seen many near misses – speed bumps would have been more suitable and less obtrusive Very disappointed to read that plans have been passed Why are you considering ugly chicanes which are totally out of character with the surroundings I would have thought speed bumps would be a more suitable traffic calming method which would blend in with the road and have the same effect My experience of chicanes is people tend to drive faster to get through before the oncoming traffic gets to it Please give my comments some serious consideration Planning consent has been approved for 160 homes in Clayton-le-Woods Turley Associates gained outline planning permission on behalf of Redrow Homes from Chorley Council The approved scheme will provide a mix of two The decision follows a successful appeal in September by Redrow for 135 homes in the neighbouring settlement of Whittle-le-Woods said: "There is a real need for new and affordable homes in Lancashire which is not currently being met "This permission enables us to continue to deliver high-quality homes for families living and working in the area." said: "This is a good decision for Redrow a developer with a strong record of building at the heart of the Lancashire community." The outline permission forms part of a larger site at Clayton-le-Woods the council earmarked in its emerging development plan for 700 new homes The allocation is being promoted by a number of developers and the Homes & Communities Agency The Redrow permission follows the approval of a scheme for 300 homes as part of the wider site Buildings on a depot owned by the local authority will be cleared and replaced by 10 townhouses and an apartment block
