A new dedicated youth facility is to be built in Cramlington - with work now underway
The County Council’s Cabinet approved £498,070 funding for the new youth dedicated facility as part of a £3.5 million development in Cramlington.
The drop-in centre will be built next to the existing building occupied by Cramlington Voluntary Youth Project (CVYP)
The project was initiated and developed by the Town Council who sought funding for the building from the County Council’s regeneration fund.

follows consultation with young people in the town and responds to key issues for them including the lack of places they could go to study
Day to day running and staffing costs of the new centre will be supported by the Town Council.

The project is anticipated to open by the end of this year.

this project is one of the early projects in the Cramlington Regeneration Programme which is investing in a range of schemes to improve the town
This includes cycling and walking corridors

In the longer term further projects are being developed to respond to the issues about the town centre and community and sports facilities
Investment in study work will identify options to improve access and parking
public realm and green spaces and connectivity in and out of the centre on public transport as well as community sport and recreation facilities in the town
The projects approved come on the back of the ‘Cramlington Conversation’
where over 500 people fed back on improvements they would like to see across the town

Delivery of a new £3.5m regeneration package to improve Cramlington is set to begin this year
The County Council’s Cabinet welcomed a new report highlighting improvements to the town centre
green spaces and parks and youth provision are being developed - with some projects set to start in the coming months.
It comes on the back of the ‘Cramlington Conversation’
This helped shape plans to improve the town through the Cramlington Regeneration Programme
with work now about to get underway.

the programme will kick start efforts to make Cramlington even better for residents
visitors and businesses in the town.
‘Conversation’ feedback showed respondents felt that gateways
access and parking in and around Manor Walks could be improved
and that the availability of facilities for young people was a key issue.
Positive feedback about the green spaces and cycling and walking routes across the town included the need to refresh and repair parts of the network - an issue which the council will be taking action on later this year.
The Town Council is leading a number of key schemes in the programme pipeline including the development of a dementia garden and a youth zone
Start dates will be confirmed in due course.

The green light has been given for a new activity trail at a popular Cramlington park.
The County Council’s Cabinet approved £150,000 funding to fully replace the existing disused equipment in Alexandra Park as part of the £3.5m Cramlington Regeneration Programme
The area is currently home to a skate park
Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) and a dog park
it also has remnants of a disused outdoor gym equipment
The project will involve removing and replacing the dilapidated equipment with an activity trail which could be used by all ages but particularly aimed at older youths
crawling and balancing activities to develop fitness and strength.

The improvements link to the active travel corridor that runs through the park as well as Cramlington Learning Village and nearby estates

Age UK Northumberland Joins Forces with Cramlington Town Council to Provide Support for Over 50s
Living with Dementia in Cramlington
Age UK Northumberland and Cramlington Town Council are proud to launch a new dementia group in the centre of Cramlington to support people living with mild to moderate dementia.
The group sessions are designed for over 50s who are living with mild to moderate dementia and involve a range of fun and interactive activities such as games
cooking and exercise classes. The groups have been proven to improve mood
memory and cognition and currently Age UK Northumberland is running groups in Ashington
Chief Executive of Age UK Northumberland said:
“We’re delighted to launch this new group in Cramlington
The weekly sessions are specifically designed to help with mood
movement and memory through participation in fun and interactive activities
The groups also provide a valuable opportunity for carers to socialise
benefit from peer support and access valuable resources”.
“This initiative demonstrates Cramlington Town Council's commitment to supporting the local community and enhancing the quality of life for residents living with dementia.”

The developer and investor has paid £5m to acquire South Nelson Industrial Estate
a multi-let 46,700 sq ft asset adjacent to its existing Nelson Park holding
South Nelson Industrial Estate is made up of 33 units
The deal takes Lancashire firm Northern Trust’s Cramlington ownership to around 300,000 sq ft across 100 industrial units
and further strengthens its presence in the North East industrial market
South Nelson offers spaces of 564 sq ft up to 4,278 sq ft and is home to a mix of well-established businesses
described the firm’s new asset as “a valuable addition to our portfolio”
He continued: “This strategic acquisition not only strengthens our presence in Cramlington but also enhances our ability to meet the growing demand for quality industrial space in the area.”
Naylors Gavin Black advised Northern Trust on the deal
Partner Chris Donabie said: “We identified that the industrial asset had potential to complement Northern Trust’s nearby Nelson Park Industrial Estate and managed to secure it in an off-market deal.”
Northern Trust’s current portfolio extends to 9m sq ft in more than 4,000 units
