including number 3’s owner on this small terrace opposite the West Pier and Coal Harbour
It’s easy to see why – open the front door of the refurbished period property and the sea is a hop across the road
with the harbour close enough to carry the board to
Set back from the road with parking for two cars out front
the original front door opens on to a warm hallway – and once the door closes
oversaw all the renovations and was keen to bring natural elements and coastal vibes into the redecorated four-bed 172sq m (1851sq ft) home
It was used as a consultant’s office for years
so they took down all the partitions in the rooms and honoured its original layout
There are two bedrooms on the ground floor
with working sash windows and shutters; the front room has frosted glazing to ensure privacy
Period features are all present and correct
The house dates from 1810 and is Ber exempt
Lucia introduced subtle contemporary touches
such as dramatic lighting and modern furniture
Farrow & Ball paints were used throughout
The owner paints under the name Patrick Moore and his works

Just before the kitchen in an extension to the rear is an attractive shower room
Opposite is built-in storage that houses the laundry appliances
with a bank of walnut cabinetry on one wall
There’s ample room for a long dining table and a seating area at the end of the kitchen
The same large-scale ceramic tile was used inside the kitchen and in the garden
Steps lead up to a south-facing seating area that serves as a suntrap
Nods to the house’s heritage continue here
with the original wrought-iron gates propped up against the old stone walls
On the first-floor return is a lovely family bathroom
with a ceramic sink built into an old washstand
The main bedroom on the first floor has honey-coloured pitch pine floors and to the front is the drawingroom, the view from which would gladden the heart of any sea dog. The windows here are filled with the sights of Dublin Bay, stretching as far north as Howth and taking in the landmark Poolbeg chimneys along the way
It’s a lovely room with another impressive marble fireplace and an inset wood-burning stove
so it’s possible not only to enjoy morning sunrises from the elevated position but also sunsets

The owner, selling as he is moving abroad for work, will miss “everything” about the house: the views, the location, the serenity, proximity to the West Pier for walks and watersports and the abundance of cafes and eateries on the doorstep.
3 Crofton Terrace is for sale through Sherry FitzGerald Dún Laoghaire seeking €1.295 million.

Community members are invited to celebrate the opening of the new Crofton Fire Hall at a grand opening and open house on Saturday
at the Crofton Fire Hall (1681 Robert St.)
cake and a look inside the modern facility are all on the menu
The new 3,600-square-foot fire hall replaces part of the original Crofton fire hall
which required seismic upgrades and repairs
North Cowichan council opted to demolish and rebuild the aging facility
The 2002 apparatus bays were retained and integrated into the new structure
North Cowichan Mayor Rob Douglas said the project reflects the municipality’s commitment to safety
“The new fire hall in Crofton is an investment in the safety of our residents and the well-being of our firefighters,” Douglas said
“We are proud to see this project completed and look forward to celebrating with the community.”
The new building features expanded equipment storage
dedicated administrative offices and improved space for firefighter training
Crofton firefighters trained in the apparatus bays or outdoors after the second floor of the old hall was closed due to structural concerns
The new training room can also serve as an emergency operations centre during major incidents
“The Crofton Fire Hall has been a fixture in the community for generations,” Fire Chief Ron French said
“This new and modern fire hall ensures the paid on-call firefighters who dedicate so much to the community will have the tools and space they need to continue that proud tradition for decades to come."
The North Cowichan Fire Department is one of the largest paid-on-call departments in the province
Stz’uminus First Nation and Lyackson First Nation
Crofton is home to about 25 of those firefighters
who balance emergency call-outs with full-time jobs
The May 3 open house is a chance for residents to connect with their local firefighters and see firsthand how the new hall supports emergency services in Crofton and beyond

3:17 PM CSTBy Eric McKayLINCOLN - Crofton gained a manner of revenge on 2024's Class C2 state champ
but the names on the front of the jersey were the same as last year
when Yutan upset the previously unbeaten Warriors in the title game
Crofton got the better of the Chieftains in the quarterfinals
Their stifling defense held Yutan to just 31% shooting from the field - including a 1-for-10 performance from deep - and forced 26 turnovers

A wreck on East Princeton Street in Crofton sent a woman to the hospital Saturday afternoon
Christian County Sheriff’s deputies say a vehicle driven by Sharon West was eastbound when she slowed down for traffic and was hit from behind by a vehicle driven by Charlotte Hawkins
West was treated and transported by Hopkinsville EMS to Jennie Stuart Health for possible back injuries
— He came in the still of night at 1:30 in the morning and entered a ground-floor unit in a Crofton apartment complex where an intruder came face to face with a woman who grabbed a baseball bat in her bedroom and drove him away
“She’s got to worry about her safety,” said Aaryn Harris who lives in the complex
“I don’t know if she had kids or if she had pets
she’s got to walk on eggshells in her own house.”
so that’s not putting nobody’s mind at ease."
Especially since police say the man behind the home invasion left no doubt about what he was after
“Let’s just say that his behavior pattern and things that he said
we believe that this was an attempted sex offense,” said Justin Mulcahy of the Anne Arundel County Police Department
“He was attempting to sexually assault the victim in this case before he fled.”
detectives are still trying to come up with a suspect and they’re asking for your help
They are asking residents to report anything suspicious they may have seen or heard in the wee hours of the morning on Thursday and to check their Ring cameras for possible footage
“We understand that this can be distressing for a community
and can cause any panic or fear,” said Mulcahy
“so we have had extra patrols in the area over the last four days and we’ll continue to do so.”
A pledge to better protect the community after one brave woman had to do so on her own

— Images from a storage building at Bell Branch Park in Crofton show what coaches found when they stopped off to begin preparing for the spring sports season
“They discovered that folks had smashed through the exterior doors on the back side of the building and then gone through on a bit of a rampage inside
breaking storage bins—-things like that with no intent other than destruction,” said Crofton Athletic Council President Mike Gentine
This is the second time in recent months someone has targeted the storage building
but the first time it was limited to just graffiti
there’s an estimated $10,000 worth of damage
leaving three of the ball fields without lights
“We operate the sporting programs in partnership with the county and my understanding is there are conversations going on right now with the county about getting some security cameras installed,” Gentine told us
Words turned into action when we spotted crews installing a camera in the parking lot next to the site of the vandalism
Chris Underwood of a local real estate team of the same name has stepped in to help

Participants at Crofton's annual Polar Bear Swim showcased a variety of approaches to kick off the new year on Jan
1. Some people dove right in without hesitation
while some tightly held a friend's hand for the courage to submerge themselves
One thing everyone could agree on was that it was very
"It was super cold!" Evelyn Vanderschaaf said through chattering teeth after her family's first polar bear swim.
"I did not expect it to be that cold," said her sister Eleanor Vanderschaaf with a note of betrayal in her voice
"But I would totally do it next year because it was so fun!"
participants gathered around fire pits and enjoyed hot dogs and hot chocolate
provided by the Crofton Firefighters Association
Those who registered before the swim also received a commemorative certificate
Sheila Walsh proudly held her certificate with frozen fingers while she warmed up by the fire with her neighbours
This was her third consecutive year participating
a tradition she and her husband started when they moved to Crofton
1 is "refreshing," but her favourite aspect is the community.
"So I just want to participate in anything we have here."
Walsh said it's part of what makes Crofton a great place to live and why she calls relocating there "the best move ever".
"We love it," said Walsh. "We love it here."
Crofton residents rang in 2025 together with this bracing tradition
welcoming the new year with chattering teeth and big smiles
Shopping for a winter coat is a particular challenge because it's hard to know how it'll perform until you actually wear it in severe weather
it's likely too late to return it if it doesn't live up to expectations
The brand assigns a Thermal Experience Index (TEI) rating to all of its coats
the Cold Room is a smart way to allow shoppers to put those TEI claims to the test
I visited the Cold Room at the Canada Goose store in Short Hills
you've probably heard the phrase "fill power." It's a number that measures the amount of space one ounce of down will fill in cubic inches
higher fill power indicates higher quality down being used
But fill power doesn't take into account the efficacy of technical materials or design
and it's not easy to estimate actual warmth based solely on the fill power number
which clearly identifies the differences between its five levels of warmth and the best uses of its coats
Everything from raincoats and vests to hoodies and parkas gets its own TEI rating
When picking out a Canada Goose jacket to test
the TEI ratings definitely helped me make a decision
I went with the Crofton Puffer Jacket because it's lightweight
has lots of versatile features for wearing in city environments
It's one step higher than the fundamental everyday warmth that TEI 3 garments provide
yet not as extreme as TEI 5 garments designed for the coldest places on earth
in-store facility designed to help you test coats before you buy them
The thermostat was set to 0 degrees Fahrenheit
but it can be adjusted (at or below freezing) depending on the temperature at which you want to test your jacket
After putting the hood on and zipping up the jacket
the upper half of my body was completely warm
I stayed inside the Cold Room for about 10 minutes and could feel the freezing cold air ripping through my jeans
but I couldn't feel a bit of cold elsewhere with the Crofton Puffer on
After using the Canada Goose Crofton Puffer in the Cold Room and in the real world, it has become one of the best winter coats for men I've tested
you will end up wearing your jacket in real-world cold weather for much longer than 10 minutes at a time
but the Cold Room gave me the confidence to know that my jacket could handle it when the time came
Every time I wore my jacket in real-world cold weather
I was reminded of how effective the Cold Room test was
Although I used the Cold Room to test a winter coat
it's also a great way to gauge the performance of lighter jackets and hoodies for transitional spring weather or layering.
Canada Goose provided me with a coat to test and review
but my experience in the Cold Room helped me understand why its jackets are priced higher than many others on the market.
Canada Goose is driven by performance and results
The jackets are made with the highest quality materials and lab- and field-tested technology that translates to real-world warmth.
It's tough to justify spending so much on a jacket even if you can afford it
but Canada Goose's products live up to their cost
If there's a Canada Goose Cold Room near you
I recommend it as a way to experience the products' warmth for yourself

“To say that he will be missed is a huge understatement,” the station said
“Arthur has been hosting mornings on WEJZ for over 30 years
He entertained and informed millions of North Floridians and he loved every minute of it
talking with those who had worked with him and those who had listened to him
"We got countless stories this morning and on our Facebook page of personal stories
of people meeting with him and connecting with him," she said after the morning show ended
"He’s going to be greatly missed by his radio family and his listening family."
who told her: “I knew I was more than a listener the day he called me ‘mate.’"
who first came to Jacksonville radio in 1978
the son of an English father and a mother from Alabama
In 1970, with American citizenship through his mother, he moved to New York where he worked as a mail clerk at CBS News, according to a biography on the WEJZ website
but it was pirate radio — freewheeling unlicensed stations that operated on ships offshore — that made him want to become a disc jockey
In a 2008 Times-Union interview with Charlie Patton
he told how his first radio job was at a tiny AM station
where he spent Sunday mornings running preachers' tapes
After a political science professor he looked up to complimented his work
Crofton was 26 when he came to Jacksonville in 1978
where his smooth English accent was a perfect fit for the morning show
"I love that sense of human connection," he said in the 2008 story
"I like the intimacy and warmth that a radio station can offer you."
Crofton was also involved in numerous community organizations and was a familiar face — and voice — at numerous community events over the years
a former Times-Union reporter now reporting for WJCT public radio
Crofton as a fill-in news announcer on WEJZ’s morning show
“Arthur and I had a blast doing the morning shows,” said Scanlan
who on those shows adopted the on-air name of Dan Charles
he had a little sausage roll sometimes on a plate ..
Scanlan recently texted Mr. Crofton to find out his reaction to the closing of the King’s Head Pub in St
where he had hosted British car shows for years
Crofton texted back that he was in England and that he had been feeling sick
Crofton was home in Jacksonville when he died
That station learned of his death Wednesday morning
which gave them the chance to pay tribute to him the next day
Crofton had made many deep connections across Northeast
to people he'd met and to people who'd only heard his voice
“You don’t come across a lot of people like Arthur Crofton
He’s one of those one-of-a-kind talents," he said
"Getting to work with him was an eye-opening experience: Anywhere I went with him
a veteran Jacksonville sports broadcaster on radio
TV and as part of the Jaguars’ broadcasting team
They also worked together for the Jacksonville Armada soccer club: Pepper as play-by-play announcer
On Instagram, the Armada posted this tribute: "His voice was the heartbeat of our matches
and his legacy will forever echo through the Armada family."
“To have earned the opportunity to work in radio that long
Pepper was eating lunch with his daughter at the Goal Post Sandwich Shop in Avondale when he last saw Mr
Crofton came up to chat with them for a few minutes

There’s nothing better than going thrifting and miraculously walking away with an insane deal on something that you later find out retails for hundreds or even thousands of dollars. Genuine crystal dinnerware that usually costs $300 just chilling on the shelf with a $5 sticker on it?
I even found a red Versace blazer at Goodwill once for $10
Whether or not it was real remains to be seen
the rush of knowing that you could find your white whale at any moment
This must be what winning the lottery feels like
it’s not always the fruitful endeavor we hope it is
you might walk away with nothing more than a few chipped plates and an old pair of shoes
the treasure hunt continues until that fateful day when we find an authentic Le Creuset in a discontinued colorway
Fortunately, if thrifting isn’t your thing but you have to have a Le Creuset—preferably at a more affordable price point—Aldi has just the thing
it won’t set you back more than a meager $9.

Its square shape makes it perfect for a range of recipes
whether you’re making a roast or baking a casserole
this stoneware dish is oven-safe up to 450°F as well as microwave-safe
it can go for a quick spin in the dishwasher for easy cleanup.
In contrast, Le Creuset’s Heritage Square Dish costs a whopping $55
Who needs thrifting when Aldi is dishing out deals like this
because these definitely won’t stick around for long
Although you might think that casserole season has come to an end now that warmer weather is on the way, there are still plenty of occasions that call for a rich, hearty baked dish full of flavors that make you feel like you just got a hug from your grandma. Whether you make mac and cheese
nothing says comfort food like a gorgeous meal served straight out of a casserole dish or Dutch oven
While it’s true that meals get lighter and feature a bit more color and vibrancy than in the winter time, what you cook is entirely up to you. If you feel like making a turkey dinner on a random Wednesday
your choice in cooking vessel matters more than anything
and it’s important to have the right one to ensure your dishes come out perfect every time
you don’t even have to shell out hundreds of dollars to get your hands on a set that looks like it came from one of those catalogs your mom used to order from
These adorable mini pots come in either a soft powder blue or white
and feature a porcelain-enameled interior that’s compatible for use on all cooktops
Each single-serving pot features handles on either side as well as a lid to make all of your dishes
