Boreham Wood and Dorking Wanderers get the ball rolling in the first Eliminator
with a place in the semi-final this weekend up for grabs
This classic National League South season has even more twists to come
So let’s take a look at what’s ahead as two of the pre-season promotion favourites go into battle with so much on the line
Both these teams will perhaps be a little disappointed it wasn’t them celebrating on Saturday
There’s no doubt they didn’t expect to win it on the final day with a number of teams in front of them
but both Boreham Wood and Dorking were counting the cost of points they dropped along the way
and the managers have been as good as their word is putting together a serious push for an instant return
Boreham Wood:Kwesi Appiah: 24Matt Rush: 17Erico Sousa: 8Dorking Wanderers: Alfie Rutherford: 20Charlie Carter: 14Jason Prior: 13Jimmy Muitt: 9
We’ll be organising and prepared for a difficult game against Dorking
“The application of the group has been excellent
“Saturday was about getting that home advantage
and to get up the league as high as possible
Dorking Wanderers: “We’re going get the troops together and hope no-one fluff their lines
“This will be the third time in four years we've been in the play-offs
If a club gets to the play-offs in this division and doesn't get promoted
It's probably failure only by the amount that go up
and very fortunate that they look after their pitch brilliantly

Easter Monday sees a huge clash at the top of National League South as 1st plays 4th at a sold out Sussex Transport Community Stadium
In the latest instalment of one of the closest title races in Europe
the Rebels ground out a well earned point at fellow challengers Eastbourne Borough on Good Friday despite playing for nearly 70 minutes with ten men following the dismissal of Aarran Racine for an alleged elbow on George Alexander
That point proved all the more valuable when news of Truro City’s 1-0 defeat at home to Torquay United meant Chris Agutter’s side would head into the final two matches of the season at the summit
Wanderers were afforded a pretty stress-free afternoon as they raced into a 3-0 lead inside 7 minutes at home to Hampton & Richmond
courtesy of an incredible hat-trick by Charlie Carter – eventually winning 4-2
That set of results left the top five separated by just two points but it’s the Reds with their destiny in their own hands
wins over Dorking and Enfield Town will clinch the title and with it promotion to the National League
Wanderers rise during their relatively short history is well documented
making it all the way to the National League before suffering the first relegation in their history last season
They started the campaign relatively slowly after suffering injuries to some key players but a good run of form either side of the turn of the year saw them hit the summit for the first time in early February
Marc White continues to serve a touchline ban so will be absent from the dugout this afternoon
White has owned and managed the Wanderers since forming the club with friends in 1999
Captain Charlie Carter has been in fine form this season
the 28-year-old midfielder in his first full season with Wanderers having joined from Eastleigh in October 2023 has hit 14 goals in the league
The Reds back-line will also have to keep a close eye on the front two
The vastly experienced Jason Prior and Alfie Rutherford – both former Bognor Regis Town players – have 13 and 19 goals respectively
Goalkeeper Harrison Foulkes has played every minute in the league this season
Dorking recently came through a tough run of fixtures with promotion rivals Torquay United
Boreham Wood and Eastbourne Borough – winning two out of the three – with the reverse to Torquay being their only defeat in their last ten matches
They have the best away record of everyone in National League South this season
losing just four of their 22 matches on the road and picking up an impressive 42 points in the process
The Reds won the reverse fixture at Meadowbank on Boxing Day
2-1 courtesy of goals from Glen Rea and Nicky Wheeler
Wanderers were reduced to ten men in first half stoppage time when Matt Briggs shoved former teammate Kane Wills into the perimeter fencing
The two teams have not met at Woodside Road since November 2021 when Dorking came out on top in an FA Trophy tie against their then lower-division opponents
Of the 10 meetings overall Wanderers hold the edge with 6 wins to Worthing’s 3
Manager Chris Agutter will have the same squad to choose from as Friday’s draw with Eastbourne Borough but after battling for so long with a man disadvantage
it remains to be seen whether the Reds boss will feel the need to rotate at all
Aarran Racine is available despite seeing red at the Reach TV Stadium
he will start his three match ban next weekend
as will fellow defender Sam Beard who picked up his 15th yellow card of the season on Friday
A reminder that this match is all-ticket and sold out
Today’s match sees the return of our friends from friends Tippelaget
A group of six supporters from Norway who came over and sponsored the final home match (regular season) of last season
Thank you once again to them for their support
please make them feel welcome if you see them around the ground today
Thanks also to AJW Group who are sponsors of the 1886 Lounge today

We look at Saturday's opponents as the Sports travel to Meadowbank
With the promotion race hotting up with six games to go
only three points separate top of the table Worthing and Torquay United in fifth
Both the Sports and Dorking find themselves within that threshold
with both teams knowing three points could be pivotal come the end of April
having been a founder of the club in 1999 – going on to play for Wanderers before leading their rise from the Crawley & District League as Chairman and Manager – winning twelve promotions in their first 23 seasons
The club were still in the Sussex County League Third Division in 2010/11
White then led the team to two promotions in three seasons as Wanderers breezed through the Isthmian League
making their debut in the National South in 2019/20
They then reached the National League in 2022/23 after beating Ebbsfleet United
in the play-off final – only after Luke Moore’s 99th minute equaliser
Charlie Carter is a central midfielder who’s footballing journey began at Fulham and then across the county at Woking
where after coming through the club’s academy he signed a professional deal with The Cardinals ahead of the 2016/17 season
which proved to be the breakout year for Charlie as he finished the season club top scorer
earning a move to Chesterfield and from there a transfer into the Football League with Stevenage
Charlie enjoyed a consistent season with Eastleigh in 20022/23
again demonstrating his ability as a goal-scoring midfielder by finishing the season with double-figures worth of goals
Charlie signed for Wanderers in October 2023
Charlie was named club captain ahead of the 2024/25 season

Full-time: Dorking Wanderers 2-2 Chelmsford City
Chelmsford City and Dorking Wanderers shared the spoils in an entertaining clash at Meadowbank Stadium
Archie Tamplin scored his first National League South goal in the 31st minute to put the Clarets ahead going into half-time
Marc White’s side turned the tables on City when they scored a quick-fire double early in the second half
Charlie Carter converted from the spot in the 48th minute after the hosts were awarded a dubious penalty
Alfie Rutherford put Dorking in front when he burst past the Clarets’ backline
City responded to the disappointment of conceding twice in quick succession by equalising in the 60th minute
Kane Crichlow rolled the ball across the box to Nico Valentine
who kept his composure and produced a clinical finish across goal
Both sides came close to taking the lead in the closing stages at Meadowbank
while City substitute Finley Wilkinson fired a shot just wide of the post
Robbie Simpson made a defensive adjustment and one change to the starting XI from last week’s game against Worthing
Sam Oguntayo dropped to the bench and Colchester United loanee Frankie Edwards took his place
Dorking had most of the possession in the first 30 minutes but seldom tested Clarets goalkeeper Ted Collins
Simpson’s game plan paid off in the 31st minute when Crichlow burst forward after winning the ball in a dangerous position
Wanderers recovered quickly and managed to smother the ball out of the box
who kept his shot low but still struck the ball sweetly enough to find the bottom corner and beat Harrison Foulkes
The Clarets held on to their lead going into half-time
but were hit with a double sucker punch in the first five minutes of the second period
Dorking were awarded a controversial penalty when Harry Barbrook was adjudged to have fouled Joe Taylor inside the box
Wanderers captain Carter stepped forward from 12 yards
and sent Collins the wrong way to equalise
the hosts took the lead when Rutherford scored his 16th league goal of the season
The attacker took control of the ball near the halfway line and burst beyond the Clarets’ backline before rounding Collins and passing the ball into the empty net
Dorking nearly increased their advantage in the 52nd minute when centre-back Tony Craig headed Robert Milsom’s corner onto the crossbar
City responded well to their difficult start to the second period and equalised in the 60th minute
A well-worked move involving Jordan Greenidge
Crichlow and Valentine was finished by the latter when he drilled a shot across goal into the bottom corner
both sides nearly scored their third goal of the afternoon
Substitute Finley Wilkinson came agonisingly close when he fired a shot inches wide of Foulkes’ goal
Rutherford nearly scored again when he got behind City’s backline and fired a shot from a tight angle that hit the post
Carter’s low shot from the edge of the box found its way past the defending City players but bounced off the post and away from danger
Clarets goalkeeper Collins played a prominent role in the five minutes of added time
He first made an impressive stop to tip Jason Prior’s header around the post in the fourth minute of stoppage time
which Simpson instructed Collins to go forward for
The set piece eluded Collins and his teammates and was instead claimed by Wanderers’ shot-stopper Foulkes
Despite Foulkes having the ball in his hands
meaning the goalkeeper was unable to take a long goal kick towards City’s empty net
Dorking Wanderers XI: Foulkes (GK); Craig
Chelmsford City XI: Collins (GK); Barnum-Bobb; Edwards
Match officials: George Laflin (Referee)

The consideration of the final masterplans follows an extensive consultation and revision period
In April 2024, MVDC appointed AR-Urbanism, a specialist urban consultants to produce masterplans for Bookham and Dorking The project was funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF)**
The consultants conducted a thorough review of past studies and engaged with stakeholders to produce baseline studies for both towns
Draft masterplans were then developed and consulted on between October and December 2024
with nearly 500 people engaged in the Bookham masterplan and there were over 1,000 responses for Dorking
The consultation process included live events
The high level of engagement demonstrated strong community interest and support for the masterplans
The final masterplans incorporate feedback from the consultation and include a range of public realm projects that can be delivered flexibly when opportunities arise
Key proposals for Bookham include improvements to the village centre
the masterplan focuses on enhancing town centre
and supporting measures such as HGV restrictions and protecting the heritage character of the town
The option to pedestrianise West Street was not taken forward
The draft Bookham Masterplan received general support for proposals including: pedestrianisation of the High Street
a raised table and traffic signals in the Guildford Road Junction to improve connectivity
changes to the Squareabout and the Eastwick Park proposal extending the health centre and adding new residential development on the former Youth Centre site
The draft Dorking Masterplan received general support for 21 projects
but four projects namely the A25 eastern entrance to Dorking
North Street Car Park change to residential and reducing parking generally were opposed
As a result the masterplan was amended and relevant projects removed
MVDC’s Cabinet Member for Community Services
said: ‘I am pleased to see that the masterplans have reached the approval stage
The majority of responses received during the public consultation were in support of the masterplans for both locations
We listened to our communities and made necessary and appropriate changes based on the feedback received
before presenting the final plans to Cabinet
the commencement of these projects will depend on securing the necessary funding
We are committed to bringing these projects to life and making a lasting positive impact on Bookham and Dorking
Many of the schemes will require further discussions about their details in the future.’

The Sports' title chances took a blow as unbeaten run ends at Meadowbank
Jimmy Muitt had put Dorking in front early on at Meadowbank – before the hosts went down to ten men after George Francomb saw red
it was Dorking who doubled their lead in first half stoppage time through a Jason Prior penalty
and Courtney Clarke’s superb strike halved the deficit eight minutes into the second half
it was Dorking who drew first blood after ten minutes
Prior sent a hopeful ball forwards and the ball held up to allow Muitt to get there before Joe Wright could claim it inside the area and he poked the ball past the keeper from just outside the area
they were given cause for optimism when the hosts were reduced to ten men
George Alexander broke forwards to run onto a long ball and Francomb was judged to have denied a goalscoring opportunity having tripped the Sports forward to be sent off by referee Declan Brown
The Sports failed to make the most of their numerical advantage
with the hosts restricting Borough’s play and causing Murray’s side problems themselves
Kai Innocent did well to find Courtney Clarke on the left
he did just that before seeing his shot go just wide of the far post
Dominic Odusanya could then only hit a free-kick into the wall from a promising position
before Wright was alert to save well from Camp after the substitute was first to a second ball in the penalty area
in first half stoppage time Dorking were given the chance to double their lead
Tony Craig went down in the area after a coming together with Jason Adigun and referee Brown pointed to the spot
Murray made two changes at the break – with Brad Barry and Moussa Diarra coming on – and the Sports looked to get on the front foot straight from the restart
Yahaya Bamba skewed an effort wide of the front post from the right
before the deficit was halved in some style on 53 minutes
Ollie Kensdale found the feet of Courtney Clarke on the right hand side
and he was afforded room to take the shot on 25 yards out – and the result didn’t disappoint
with the ball flying beyond Harrison Foulkes and into the bottom corner
Adigun then floated a corner in and picked out the towering Diarra
but his downward header was well held by former Borough keeper Foulkes
the hosts managed the clock well and frustrated the Sports
limiting their opportunities in creating any sort of momentum
Camp took advantage of the Sports failing to clear their lines and managed to find room to beat Wright at his near post with a finish from inside ten yards
the Sports would have hoped for – but with five games to go they can’t afford heads to drop with a home game against Weymouth next weekend
Taylor Wimpey plans for 144 homes outside Dorking
Taylor Wimpey/ Mole Valley Planning Portal
Homes will be built on the former green belt gateway into Dorking – which some say will forever change the character of the picturesque town
Plans to turn more than eight hectares on the edge of the Surrey Hills into housing were approved on appeal in 2023 but details of what it would look like were only given the go-ahead last week (March 5) at a meeting of Mole Valley councillors
The decision was made despite many members at the meeting airing concerns over traffic on the “poor” A25 and the impact of school coaches being pushed into the town’s one-way system
Councillors were hamstrung in their efforts to mitigate against the impact of the added traffic following the appeal ruling and could only vote on the plan’s layout
Speaking on behalf of the application was James Newton
He said the proposals bring “much-needed homes for the district” with “77 per cent of the mix being one to three-bedroom properties.”
He added: “The affordable tenures include social and affordable rent
shared ownership and first homes and the mix has been agreed with the housing services team
“The design has been amended over time with input from heritage officers… and takes cues from the Dorking vernacular and the wider area.”
will be sustainable with air-source pumps and solar panels while the project as a whole would bring in more than £3 million into Mole Valley District Council through community infrastructure payments
He finished: “This will be an exciting scheme for Dorking.”
The L-shaped site will take up two fields west of Dorking
The land was originally in the green belt when the decision to allow the homes was granted on appeal
Since then it has been put into Mole Valley District Council’s local plan as a site designated for development
As well as the 144 homes there will also be parking for The Priory Secondary School including staff and coaches
Officers told the meeting they were happy with the project and that it would not harm the character of the area – with red tiling used to help it blend in with existing homes in the town
Speaking against the plan was Nicholas Tinker
who highlighted the numerous letters of objections
most people leave for work at the same time every morning
“The congestion on the Westcott Road and around town will be totally unacceptable.”
would degenerate and reach dangerous levels for schoolchildren with the coach drop-off point creating a particular problem and force them to use the one-way system
He said: “It’s going to be absolute chaos.”
Westcott and Okewood) said: “I’m generally pro affordable housing
more people means more council tax for front line services
however I’m quite torn on this particular development because I do feel it’s lacking in a number of ways
“We’ve discussed quite adequately in the past that the highways assessment is quite lacking
“We all know the trouble on the A25 – especially at peak time
“I’m frankly torn about this because its layout is effectively a cul-de-sac which I think is generally quite poor planning strategy
“So while I laud the affordable housing commitment I’m extremely worried for a lot of my constituents in Westcott and Abinger who have to essentially travel every single day to get any form of amenity in Dorking
“The A25 is of a poor quality as it is right now so I’m not sure how at minimum 144 extra cars – how the road is going to be able to handle that.”
The designs and layout were approved by eight votes in favour with two against and three abstentions
My house backs onto this development and I feel it’s a total shame that we should start building 144 houses on the green belt with with no consideration whatsoever by Mole Valley Council on the effect it’s going to have on the surrounding area on the infrastructure and especially on traffic
The A25 is notoriously fast for motor bikes and cars
There is no consideration whatsoever for the general public or the surrounding houses
The noise at the weekend is totally unacceptable sometimes in excess of 125dB
I’ve written since 2017 to various organisations
etcetera to slow the traffic down but to no avail
Now we’re going to have 144 houses with children on bicycles and pedestrians having access onto this particular stretch of road
If the councillors were so concerned about the traffic they should’ve stood up and been counted and voted against this proposal
It’s not the only development planned in this particular area
There’s another plan going to use green belt on the other side of the Dorking
I have no idea where they get this three £3 million of benefits to the local economy from

Goals from Glen Rea and Nicky Wheeler helped Worthing secure their fourth win in five league matches to move within two points of top spot in the National League South
’Tis the season of the Nicky Wheeler wonder strike
This was always going to be fun: Marc White vs Chris Agutter; Dorking vs Worthing; 4th vs 7th
A Boxing Day bout between two of the National League South heavyweights
The Reds had rescued their festive merriment with a slim win over Enfield Town at the weekend
Agutter fancied a little change in personnel for this meaty play-off clash: Temi Babalola and Sam Packham dropping to the bench in favour of Joe Cook and Kane Wills
and that seemed important against a determined
Meadowbank was a feverish kind of place as the players stepped out onto the turf
A large crowd filtered through the turnstiles
feeling something favourable would be taking place beneath the misty Surrey sky
After just 45 minutes three goals had been scored
a penalty had been missed and a man had been sent off
By 90 minutes not much had changed – only that the three points would be traveling down to the Sussex coastline
but Glen Rea’s header from a Danny Cashman corner sent the blue shapes whirring
They hadn’t been hammering on the Dorking door
but already that home defence had shown signs of imperfection
But positivity had been brewing in their attacking play since the onset
They deservedly levelled with 25 minutes played
by which point Chris Haigh had already made two excellent saves
and seen another few strikes whistle wide of the post
Dorking are a side endowed with confidence
yet we’re fairly sure they were middling in mid-table not so long ago
Jason Prior thundered home from inside the six-yard box to balance the pendulum
Foulkes then tipped Cashman’s long-range effort over the crossbar before he kept out Joe Partington’s point-blank header
These are two teams used to playing high-octane
Worthing took the initiative to take the sting out of proceedings
Another defensive mishap found Faal with the ball bursting into the box
Winds into his run up and places it towards the corner
but the hand of Harrison Foulkes diverts it around the post
This is going to be some Goal of the Season compilation
And this was maybe Wheeler’s third nomination
We’d require some greater technology than eyesight alone for absolute accuracy
but Wheeler’s around 40 yards out when the ball left his boot
testosterone-fuelled affair was taking new shape
All it needed now was for one player to push another player into the advertising hoardings and receive a red card
He’d just won his side a corner in what would be the last action of the half
then decided he wanted to be a spectator in the second half
But it’s typical of a team with a player fewer to move up a gear
more players; yet when in this cauldron of a ground the exit sign is a hard one to find
sticking to the game plan and feeding the indomitable Jason Prior and Alfie Rutherford when in possession
Then the latter couldn’t quite polish off a free-flowing move as Haigh held on
Bailey Smith was on now – a speedy addition who provides an outlet
whilst Jack Spong – who did not stop running throughout – found the ‘keeper’s grasp with a well-hit half-volley
alongside Sam Packham as the fresh legs looked to locate further flaws
With around 20 minutes left Worthing started to make their man advantage count
They’d bulldozed their way through the Worthing backline in an opening half they didn’t take advantage of
Sam Beard’s brilliant block and Haigh’s late save
After six minutes of stoppage time Worthing were in some other place entirely
Blue shirted men hugged other blue shirted men
Wills does about 15 fist bumps to the crowd
The Worthing fans in the corner are just all a whirl of hands at this point
Over in the Dorking technical area Marc White stands with arms crossed
as if having just sat through a two-hour nativity play
They’d lost just one of their previous 10 in the division but
Dorking just seemed to be swallowed up by their own avidity
Welling United return to action as they take on Dorking Wanderers at Park View Road on Saturday (3pm)
Having picked up just one point from their last three outings
the Wings will be hoping to cause an upset against the league-leaders as they once again look to distance themselves from the bottom four with the gap having been closed in recent weeks
Chiori Johnson and Finn Ballard-McBride will have their fitness assessed ahead of this weekend’s clash after the duo missed out at Enfield Town in midweek
Dorking returned to the sixth tier this season following relegation last term
Marc White’s are be eyeing up an immediate return and they have found themselves firmly in the automatic promotion conversation
coming into Saturday’s game sitting top of the table
eight draws and seven defeats from their 31 games played
and are unbeaten in their last six outings
Dorking’s last test came in the form of a 1-0 win at home to Tonbridge Angels on Tuesday evening
Dorking took all the points when the two sides met back in October
The hosts took the lead after 17 minutes before Wings stopper Rhys Lovett was forced off with a head injury
leading to TJ Bramble having to switch from midfield to deputise between the sticks
but Dorking added a second with 12 minutes remaining
before Chiori Johnson netted a consolation late on

Charlie Carter’s hat trick helped Dorking Wanderers to a 4-0 victory over Chelmsford City on Saturday afternoon
Wanderers captain Carter completed his brace inside the opening 20 minutes of the game at the EMJ Community Stadium
Carter then increased Dorking’s lead in the 70th minute when he kept his composure in front of goal to score from close range
Carter was replaced by Matt Briggs in the 84th minute
who scored the visitors’ final goal of the afternoon less than two minutes after he was introduced
Robbie Simpson made three changes to the side which drew with St Albans City in midweek
Kalvin Kalala and Jake Hyde came into the side in place of Cameron James
The Clarets’ afternoon got off to a less-than-ideal start when the visitors scored in the fourth minute
Wanderers captain Carter scored the opener when he produced a clinical finish past Woody Williamson from inside the City penalty area
Kalala came close to finding an equaliser in the 13th minute
The Frenchman got a shot away from the edge of the penalty area
but his strike took a deflection and went the wrong side of the post by a matter of inches
Carter doubled his side’s lead in the 26th minute when he got the decisive touch on a high ball back into the Clarets’ six-yard box
Carter rose highest and cushioned a looping header into the top corner of Williamson’s goal
City produced a good response to going behind and were unfortunate not to pull one back prior to half-time
Osman Foyo produced two efforts in the 21st and 26th minute
both of which were shots on target but pushed behind for corners by Wanderers shot stopper Harrison Foulkes
An uneventful start to the second half of the game worked against City
who were unable to find a route back into the match after Dorking defended resolutely
The visitors were rewarded when they increased their lead in the 70th minute
Jack Young’s defence splitting pass found Carter in space
who kept his composure in front of goal and finished coolly past Woody Williamson
and less than 120 seconds after his introduction
James Muitt’s shot on target was parried by Williamson
however the Ipswich Town loanee’s save dropped into the path of Briggs
who tapped the ball into the back of the net from close-range
The Clarets now have a two-week wait until they return to the National League South action away at Worthing
Simpson’s side travel to West Essex in the BBC Essex Senior Cup on Wednesday and then face Peterborough Sports away in the FA Trophy next weekend

The Clarets return to home soil after playing their last two National League South games away from home
These results extended City’s unbeaten run in the league to four games
Marc White’s Dorking Wanderers side come into the game on the back of a recent good run of their own
having lost once in their previous eight league matches
Here’s all that Clarets supporters need to know ahead of the game…
Relive when Clarets manager Robbie Simpson got mic’d up during our last fixture against Saturday’s opponents
Wanderers’ two-year spell in the National League was ended by their relegation from the division at the end of last season
manager Marc White is hoping his side’s second stay in the National League South will be a short one
The Surrey-based club came into this season as one of the title favourites
but experienced a less-than-ideal start in their return to the sixth tier after only winning three of their opening eight league matches of 2024-25
Since getting key players back up to full fitness and beating Hornchurch at the beginning of last month though
White’s side have picked up form-wise and have won four games in their last seven
The form of Alfie Rutherford has been key to Wanderers’ recent impressive results
Rutherford has netted four goals in his side’s last seven matches and has competed with former Chelmsford City and Yeovil Town man Rhys Murphy for the starting berth up front in White’s team this season
Arthur Penney suffered a shoulder injury last week against Torquay United
Kane Crichlow and Ryan Blackman are continuing to progress in their recoveries from respective injuries

A useful guide for Worthing supporters planning their journey to Meadowbank on Boxing Day
It’s a highly-anticipated Boxing Day clash at Meadowbank
with just one point separating the sides heading into the contest
It’s a congested top end of the table in the National League South as just four points separate the top eight with most teams reaching the halfway stage in terms of matches played on Boxing Day
the area’s newcomers Dorking Wanderers were able to continue flying the football flag for the town and they moved to Meadowbank in 2018 after previously playing at the Westhumble Playing Fields
The ground is located in a picturesque setting with the tall spire of St Martin’s Church overlooking the ground from one side
While looking out over the other side spectators can enjoy views of the Surrey Hills
this covered all-seated stand is raised slightly above pitch level
To one side of the stand is a larger club building
which amongst other things contains the social club on the first floor
Whilst on the other side of the Main Stand is a small covered standing enclosure
Opposite on the North Side of the pitch as well at the West End the ground is open to the elements and doesn’t have spectator facilities as such
leading to a procession of players and club staff at half and full time as the dressing rooms are located on the other side of the ground
Behind these dugouts is a small electronic scoreboard
The East End was largely open but during the Summer of 2020
which is covered and a 670-capacity open terrace
Behind this end is a wooden-clad building that contains a cafe and children’s indoor play area
The teams come out on to the pitch from the dressing rooms located near the South-East corner of the stadium
Supporters are advised to purchase tickets online
in advance of the Boxing Day game with a sell-out crowd expected at Meadowbank

City’s penultimate home game of the 2024/25 campaign sees title-chasing Dorking Wanderers the visitors to Twerton Park this Saturday
Marc White’s side come into the game in third place but
whilst City were recording their biggest win of the season a week ago at Hampton
a late equaliser by struggling St Albans City saw two vital points slip from their grasp
Dorking narrowly won the reserve fixture by a single goal at Meadowbank in January – Darren Way’s first loss in charge of the Romans – but on the back of the five-star performance
and with just one goal conceded in the last six games
City will look to maintain this momentum in the final weeks of the season
You can get your tickets here

Councillor Stephen Cooksey, Leader of Mole Valley District Council (MVDC), said: “I am delighted to bring you news that following cash access assessments for Dorking and Leatherhead, as requested by Mole Valley District Council, LINK has recommended the permanent provision of a banking hub for Dorking
and ‘an automated deposit service (notes)’ for Leatherhead
“The setting up of the banking hub will be led by Cash Access UK and it is expected that it will be in place in Dorking in a matter of months
Meanwhile we are looking into the appeal process available for us to push for a banking hub in Leatherhead too
Please be assured that I will share further updates as and when they become available
“What I can say for certain is that I believe LINK’s decision today is a victory for our district and I would like to extend my very sincerest thanks to everyone who sent messages to LINK during the assessment period to tell them of their support for a banking hub to be introduced in one or both town centre locations
I would also like to thank all MVDCs officers and Councillors involved in lobbying for banking hubs in the district
We remain committed to delivering a banking hub in Leatherhead too and will continue our dialogue with LINK
“We have been pushing for banking hubs to replace closed bank branches in the district since July 2022 as we know how vital access to banking services is for our residents and businesses
Successfully securing a banking hub for Dorking (and hopefully Leatherhead) will provide a much-needed solution for our community
ensuring access to essential financial services can continue.”

Southend United Under-19s had their unbeaten run ended by Dorking Wanderers following a narrow 1-0 defeat on Wednesday afternoon
Ollie Rawlins scored the only goal of the game for Wanderers late in the encounter at Garon Park
just three minutes after Blues had been reduced to 10 men following an off-the-ball incident involving Rio Thomas
and they’ve been on a great run with five unbeaten,” said youth team coach Danny Heath after the match
“In those five games we have played well
“The squad’s target is to be in the top three as a minimum
and we’ve dropped out of it today and into fourth
but they’ve put themselves in a great position to achieve that
There have been games this year where we’ve drawn or lost and we should’ve got more points on the board
and that’s the difference between us being closer to Eastleigh than we are.”
Heath named an unchanged starting XI for the clash after last Wednesday’s 4-4 draw with Dartford
but first-year wing-back Mitchell Ward was fit enough to return to the bench
whose best early opening came after four minutes when Obi Okafor latched onto a wayward pass and fed Jack Stone
the forward couldn’t get the ball out of his feet and ended up prodding his shot wide of the righthand post
Dorking employed a low block and were able to control possession in the first 20 minutes of the match
and they almost scored on 12 minutes when a move down the right-hand side ended with Luke Bejashvili firing narrowly over
Nine minutes later Rawlins drew a comfortable save from Josh Barrett
despite his 20-yard attempt taking a slight deflection on the way through
The momentum of the game began to switch at the mid-point of the first half
shortly after Okafor had robbed defender Jay Richardson and dragged a low shot narrowly wide of the left-hand post
Zevieyan Makangu rode a couple of challenges before offloading to Nathan Woodley
who saw a fierce strike deflected out for a corner
and a short corner routine involving Obu Shobowale and Joshua Jackson culminated in the latter hitting the frame of the goal with a rasping 25-yard effort
Stone then nodded an in-swinging Shobowale cross wide at the far post before the defender curled wide with a free-kick from 30 yards out
Shobowale was proving to be a repetitive threat to the visitors
and he guided a 25-yard shot narrowly wide of the lefthand post in the 42nd minute following patient build-up play involving Alfie Humphrey on the right touchline
Southend were presented with their best chance to take the lead
After leading a counterattack from a Dorking corner
and he bore down on Louis Sullivan’s goal before electing to attempt a lob from 18 yards out and clearing the crossbar with just the custodian to beat
The second period started with Barrett turning a Rawlins shot around the righthand post following a Gabriel Jacks pass
and from the resulting corner defender James McLeod smashed over for Wanderers
making a routine save from Seb Tauta-Caballero’s strike
but a double substitution put Southend back on the front foot as Joe Poxon and Ward were introduced in place of Jackson and Okafor
Pulham immediately drew a fine save from Sullivan
pushing his shot around the right-hand post on the hour and
the Dorking gloveman had brilliantly tipped Poxon’s effort from the edge of the penalty area over the crossbar
Woodley embarked upon a slaloming run that took him deep into Dorking territory and ended with the midfielder forcing Sullivan into a parried stop
Makangu had an opportunity to turn home the rebound
but his attempt was diverted out for a corner
Julius Nwike did well to get back and block Jacks as he led a rare Dorking attack in the 71st minute
and Stone then glanced a Humphrey cross wide before Blues were reduced to ten men
Thomas was determined to have kicked an opponent as play switched to the opposite end
and he was shown a red card for violent conduct
Stone nodded wide from a Pulham cross as Heath kept two up front to pressurise the visitors
but the Shrimpers were punished in the 80th minute when substitute Henry Gunay picked out Rawlins in the penalty area and he spun to deliver a fierce strike that Barrett couldn’t prevent from crossing the line
Southend could have claimed at least a share of the spoils as Woodley smashed over from inside the ‘D’ and Pulham then fired off target after steading himself in the penalty area
before the skipper failed to capitalise on a final chance when he could only stab wide after being located by Stone’s cut-back
“There was a lack of quality with our finishing,” Heath reflected
because we’ve been scoring a lot of goals recently
and we had the opportunities to do that again
We probably deserved something from the game because of the performance
“But when the next step is potentially the first-team or a professional contract
that’s the difference between maybe getting a win bonus or not
When you get to first-team level it really counts
when it’s your job and your career and you’ve got bills to pay and you’re fighting for your next contract
and that’s not being disrespectful to Dorking because they are a good team
going on to win the game is something you’ve got to learn to do.”

A 15-year-old boy who was on Dorking Wanderers’ books has sadly passed away after drowning in a lake in London
Izaiah Smith was found dead after going swimming in Beckenham Place Park
Smith’s body was discovered after specialist dive teams had conducted a search for him in the water
The Metropolitan police do not believe his death is suspicious after stating the death was being treated as ‘unexpected’
Smith had been on the books at National League South side Dorking
with the club releasing an emotional statement following the news
Wanderers said: “We are absolutely devastated to learn of the passing of one of our young footballers – Izaiah Smith
“It is of course impossible to find the words to explain what a tragedy this is
“Izaiah was a hugely popular and talented young man and will be sorely missed by all that knew him
“The club will provide support for all involved in whatever way we possibly can
“In the meantime all of our thoughts are with his family
friends and teammates at this incredibly difficult time.”
Co-owner and first-team manager Marc White also paid tribute to Smith following Saturday’s match
Albans City in their latest league fixture
White said: “All of our thoughts as a club
“Obviously that takes precedence and puts everything into perspective
“We’re just absolutely gutted for the family
“All of our thoughts and prayers tonight will be with his family and the football is firmly in second place.”
Smith had been playing for the club’s under-16s side this season
The lake remains closed with security in place ‘until further notice’
A council spokesperson said: “We send our thoughts and deepest condolences to his family and friends
“We are working closely with the police in order that their investigation establishes the full facts of what’s happened.”

a bitter aftertaste to Torquay United’s superb 1-0 victory at Dorking Wanderers
as footage emerged on Saturday evening of a ‘supporter’ launching beer at home player Tony Craig
The club was made aware of the incident and has acted quickly in issuing the below statement after the individual responsible came forward to admit his involvement
The club statement said: “Following on from what was a superb victory for Paul Wotton’s side at Dorking Wanderers on Saturday
it is with great disappointment that the Club has to address an incident that occurred in the crowd during the match
Video footage of the incident has been reviewed by the Club
and the individual has since come forward to identify themself
They can now expect to receive a severe sanction
everybody at Torquay United FC would like to offer its sincere apologies to Dorking player Tony Craig
TUFC would like to stress that this behaviour does not reflect the Club’s values
or the vast majority of our devoted fanbase
most of whom represent the Club with distinction
this is not the first time that the Club has been forced to tackle incidents relating to unacceptable fan behaviour this season
with the Club having already been subject to a severe reprimand from the FA
incidents such as what occurred on Saturday will only see further scrutiny
In the midst of a promotion battle on the field
and at a time when Torquay United has welcomed more fan representation at all levels of the Club than ever before off the field
it is incredibly disheartening that a small minority of our followers chose to bring our Club’s name into disrepute
and tarnish our hard-earned reputation as a proud
Any supporters that are intent in engaging in intimidating
The message could not be clearer – Stay Away
TUFC will continue to work with authorities to ensure all types of anti-social behaviour is eradicated from our Football Club once and for all
we would like to place on record our heartfelt thanks to all those supporters that provide the team with such fantastic support
it is hugely appreciated by everyone at Plainmoor
and we will not allow the mindless acts of a few individuals to spoil the matchday experience for all those who only want the best for TUFC.”

Welling United fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat to top-of-the-table Dorking Wanderers at Park View Road on Saturday
The visitors struck early on and it was enough to claim all three points from a closely-fought encoiunter
taking a lead in the seventh minute with the first opportunity of the afternoon
Josh Taylor received the ball in the box from the right and he proceeded to hold it up nicely before turning and finding the top right-hand corner
The Wings responded positively with Harvey Walker
finally making his first start for the club having recovered from his broken leg
got on the end of James Alabi’s knockdown before seeing his shot saved by Wanderers stopper Harrison Foulkes at his near post
while Gene Kennedy’s piledriver of a volley came crashing back off the crossbar with 16 minutes on the clock
Welling missed a gilt-edged chance to draw level
Great work down the left from Dan Martin eventually led to Kennedy’s shot being parried by Foulkes
but only as far as TJ Bramble in a great position in the box
The hosts were still very much in it going into the second half
although chances came at a premium in the second half
with both sides cancelling each other out in the middle of the park
and the Wings would have nothing to show for their effort on the day
Rod Stringer’s men will now turn their attention to Tuesday night and a Kent Senior Cup semi-final clash with Dover Athletic
Robbie Simpson’s Chelmsford City squad make their way to Meadowbank Stadium on Saturday to face league leaders Dorking Wanderers
The Clarets face a difficult test this weekend as they look to arrest their recent run of back-to-back defeats after narrowly coming away empty-handed against Boreham Wood and Worthing in their last two fixtures
Dorking are enjoying an extended unbeaten streak of nine games

Wanderers’ recent form has left them in a strong position to secure an immediate return to the National League
White’s side enjoyed a two-year spell in the fifth tier of English football; however
this was brought to an end last season after their relegation in 2023-24
The 2024-25 season has proved to be a more fruitful campaign
and the Surrey-based side’s free-scoring form in front of goal has put them in pole position for promotion with 10 games left to play
No side in the league has scored more than the 72 goals Dorking have netted this season
and no side has won more than the 20 league games they have recorded victories in
Forward and captain Charlie Carter’s 13 goal contributions have helped Dorking to the summit of the table
Carter scored a hat trick when Dorking visited the EMJ Community Stadium this season
meaning City will know all too well about the danger of the Wanderers’ frontman
has also been in strong goalscoring form this season and has found the back of the net 15 times in the National League South
centre-back Tony Craig has been a defensive mainstay in White’s XI
who has made more than 500 appearances in the EFL across his career
has played in 35 of his side’s 40 matches this season and is one of the league’s most experienced players
Forward Saleem Akanbi returned to action last time out against Worthing following a spell injured with an ankle problem
Cameron James and Freddie Hockey are likely to remain sidelined
Midfielder Ryan Blackman will be hoping to make a return to action after missing his side’s last two matches

keeping the ‘Show on the Road’ with events in various alternative venues (even creating some of them) while handling the technical systems issues at the Halls throughout the project
and are now bringing us the much-anticipated pantomime ‘Sleeping Beauty’
which will be running from 20 to 31 December
This magical production should be loads of fun
villains and awful jokes that we expect at this time of year
I would like to thank Galliford Try for their generous donation of 50 panto tickets to the Foodbank
providing families in need with a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the show
starting from 9 December with Paddington in Peru
There will be plenty more top films to follow
along with live event screenings including André Rieu’s Christmas concert
Royal Ballet’s Nutcracker and Macbeth starring David Tennant
There really is something for everyone at Dorking Halls
You can explore the full programme of events and book your tickets at dorkinghalls.co.uk
the Project Lead from Galliford Try said: ‘This project has been an absolute delight to be a part of and has been a true collaborative journey from all those involved
We understand the significance of this venue to the local community and are very proud to have been a part of its refurbishment
We can’t wait to see the Halls open its doors to the public again and wish them a successful pantomime season!’
Chippenham created the better chances early on as Matt McClure’s eighth minute shot was blocked and the ball fell to Leone Gravata whose effort was also repelled by the Surrey side’s defence
McClure then found Will Dawes and his shot also saw a Dorking defender block
Just after midway through the half the pattern continued as Dawes saw another effort blocked
At the other end Jack Young’s cross cum shot was held by Will Henry whilst Rob Milsom’s free kick was scrambled clear
The Bluebirds opened the scoring just past the half hour mark as Caine Bradbury’s cross found Gravata beyond the far post and he volleyed past Harrison Foulkes
Before the break Milsom’s free kick was punched clear by Henry and Young’s follow up effort was blocked on the line by Luke Spokes
whilst Gravata was sandwiched between two visiting players and appeared to receive an elbow in the face but referee Neill Pratt was unmoved
The second half saw the visitors up the pace as Jimmy Muitt shot over and Charlie Carter’s low shot was saved by Henry
At the other end Bradbury’s superb cross presented McClure with a good chance but the striker trod on the ball
Dorking levelled matters on fifty six minutes as Tony Craig found Matt Briggs who slotted under Henry
Foulkes denied the hosts from regaining the lead as he superbly tipped over a Spokes free kick
whilst Joe Andrews’ fine run saw his low shot just go wide
Briggs scored the winning goal on seventy two minutes as his looping header from substitute George Francomb’s cross went over Henry
Dorking substitute Jordan Norville-Williams then forced Henry into a save
Chippenham substitute Tom Mehew’s shot looked destined to equalize but Craig made a timely block whilst Foulkes held on to a late headed effort from Gravata

Welling United are delighted to confirm the arrival of forward Theo Alexandrou on loan from Dorking Wanderers
The 19-year old is a product of Stevenage’s academy
making his full senior debut for Boro in a Carabao Cup clash with Exeter City in August 2023
before making one further first-team outing against AFC Wimbledon on the EFL Trophy
Alexandrou embarked on loan stints with Cambridge City
His performances attracted the interest of Dorking who brought him to Meadowbank Stadium in September and he has made 11 Vanarama National League South appearances since
including a spectacular strike against Welling in October
He now joins the Wings on an initial loan deal until January 31st
so much has happened in terms of wins and losses
National League South action returns to the Halcyon Wealth Longmead Stadium on Tuesday evening with Dorking Wanderers providing the opposition
it will be another month before league action returns
there is a rather important event in between
In what looks like an open National League South this season Dorking ended the weekend in ninth place
They have discovered some form of late; scored three times in each of their last three games and are unbeaten in their last four league matches
Dorking came very close to making it three wins in a row on Saturday in an extraordinary game against Salisbury
a game where they actually came even closer to losing before drawing 3-3
Dorking went two goals up but by the seventh minute of added time they found themselves 3-2 down before Bobby-Joe Taylor scored a 100th minute equaliser
are back in National League South after a two year spell in the National League
They have retained many of the players they had when last in this division
Luke Moore and James McShane and an evergreen former Gillingham captain Barry Fuller
Jason Prior is one of the most successful strikers in National League South history
He was in two Dorking promotion squads before leaving to join Havant and Waterlooville
returning in February last year and if Prior doesn't score for Dorking in a game
there's a good chance Alfie Rutherford does
where he has previously won the National League South golden boot
Dorking’s last visit to Longmead in September 2021 brought a 3-1 win for the Angels with goals from Doug Loft
goals from Joe Turner and a brace from Tommy Wood completed the double over the eventual runners-up who went on to win promotion via the play-offs with an extra time win over Ebbsfleet United
Jay Saunders said of Dorking’s visit following Saturday’s defeat at Worthing: “I think everyone’s come through OK [at Worthing]
get a good atmosphere and try and get back on a winning run
Admission prices to the game are: Adults £17; Concessions £14; Youths £7 and Under-12’s free with accompanying adult with tickets available HERE.

The Sports prevail on penalties after Moussa Diarra's late header in FA Trophy
Eastbourne Borough are in the hat for the Third Round of the FA Trophy after a penalty shoot-out win at Dorking Wanderers
Moussa Diarra came off the bench to head in a late equaliser after Charlie Carter had given Dorking a first half lead at Meadowbank
And Sports keeper Max Metcalfe proved to be the hero – saving two spot kicks as Borough prevailed 4-2 in the shoot-out
Boss Adam Murray made two changes to the team that started last weekend’s National South loss at Chippenham
with Dan Quick and Jayden Davis coming into the side
There was a place on the bench for Kai Woollard-Innocent
who joined the Sports for a fourth spell in the build up to the tie
Dorking had the first effort on goal inside the first four minutes when Josh Brooking drove into the area
but saw his shot tipped over the bar by Metcalfe
Borough responded by working the ball in good areas
forcing a corner and looking to get forwards
but without testing former keeper Harrison Foulkes
And it was the hosts who broke the deadlock before the 15 minutes mark
A good ball forwards found Alfie Rutherford in space
and he threaded the ball through to Charlie Carter who slotted past Metcalfe
The Sports looked to get back into the game
and played some good football moving forwards but without really breaking through a deep Dorking defence
before Jayden Davis’ low cross found the feet of George Alexander
but on the turn his effort was deflected over by Tony Craig
Adam Murray’s side then went within a whisker of drawing level just before half time
A corner from the left was headed away at the far post
but only as far as Courtney Clarke who hit it first time – only to see the ball crash back off the bar
Borough started the second half on the front foot
David Sesay fired just wide of the far post before Bamba had an effort saved by Foulkes after his shot took a deflection
Pierce Bird then whipped a ball in from the left and picked out Bamba
but his downward header was turned around the near post by the home keeper
The Sports kept the ball well but couldn’t quite break down a deep Dorking defence
with Bamba and Clarke both having shots blocked
Murray rang the changes as the clock ticked down
with Diarra coming on as a forward in the closing stages – a switch which proved to be a masterstroke
Bird whipped in a corner from the right and Diarra rose highest at the near post
and his bullet header from ten yards out gave Foulkes no chance
And so onto penalties – and after Alfie Pavey converted
Metcalfe stood his ground to save Jason Prior’s effort as he attempted the Panenka to give Borough the advantage
Woollard-Innocent and Bird then all converted
before Metcalfe dived to his left to save Brooking’s effort and see The Sports progress
ShareSaveCommentForbes 101InnovationHow To Protect Your Data From Google Dorking (Hacking)ByEmma Woollacott
Forbes contributors publish independent expert analyses and insights. Emma Woollacott is a freelance journalist for TechnologyFollow AuthorFeb 09
09:00am ESTShareSaveCommentThere are a series of security measures you can take that should help your Google account stay ..
unsecured login portals or sensitive company documents
So named because they involve searching “like a dork,” Google Dorks were first introduced by computer security expert Johnny Long
Long started using custom queries to search for elements of websites that could be leveraged in cyberattacks
The list gradually expanded; and two years later
these queries were codified into the Google Hacking Database (GHDB) as a dictionary of queries designed to be used by penetration testers
it didn’t take long before cyber criminals were using the techniques
server credentials or private documents that were not meant to be publicly accessible
Google dorking relies on the fact that when Google crawls the web to index pages for its search engine
it can see parts of websites that normal internet users can’t
There are literally thousands of Google dork commands
most perfectly innocuous and used simply to target searches more accurately
but some really only of use to security researchers or cyber criminals
Some of the most widely-used dorks include:
Dorks can be linked together to create even more specific searches
Narrows results to a specific site or domain; for example
site:example.com searches only the example.com website
Finds pages that have the specified text in the URL; for example
inurl:dorking will find pages with “dorking” in the URL
Locates pages with the specified text in the title tag
Returns results only of specific file types like PDFs
Finds web pages that contain a link to a specific document
for example link:https://www.forbes.com/sites/technology/article/google-account-hacked/
with hackers using Google dorks to find sensitive data such as employee information or intellectual property
It can also be used to identify security vulnerabilities such as misconfigured servers
And it's worth remembering that leaving your website vulnerable
particularly if those vulnerabilities are exploited
legal penalties and fines for compliance violations
or damage to your company's reputation
Those using Google dorking for nefarious purposes are generally after sensitive corporate information, or signs of cybersecurity vulnerabilities
which instructs web robots about which pages on your site to crawl or ignore
Google dorking is a mixed blessing — on the one hand
it’s a useful tool for improving the effectiveness of online searches
but on the other it can form a mechanism for hackers to access private information
But there are a series of security measures you can take that should help your website stay secure
There’s an AI for everything these days, and Google dorking is no exception: DorkGPT is a free AI-powered tool that generates its results using Google dorks
and it will automatically generate a query using Google search operators to get results that should be more accurately targeted than other search methods
The techniques of dorking work across other search engines too
the specific dorks you can use are the same as those used for Google as they use the same search operators
The results dorking returns may vary from search engine to search engine
depending on how sites are indexed and how the search operators are interpreted
There are a number of signs that your Google account may have been hacked — discovering
or that other personal information relating to the account has been changed
Other signs include receiving a security alert from Google warning that there has been a sign-in to your account from a new device
or of other behaviour that it deems unusual or suspicious
You may also be contacted by friends or family who have been receiving strange messages purportedly from you
In-form Welling United head back on the road on Saturday as they make the journey to Surrey to take on Dorking Wanderers (3pm)
picking maximum points and a pair of clean sheets from their last two outings with 1-0 victories over St Albans City and Enfield Town and they will be looking to continue their positive run at Meadowbank this weekend
Rod Stringer’s men climbed up to 16th in the National League South table in midweek
three points behind Saturday’s opponents
have a number of injury concerns to contend with with Harvey Walker and Teddy Perkins remaining long-term absentees
while Jack Burchell and Anthony Grant remain doubts having missed out over the last week
Zain Walker and Ben Wells are both nearing a return to fitness
while Alex Lankshear will be available despite his dismissal against Enfield
with his ban set to kick in next weekend when Chippenham Town visit Park View Road
Dorking returned to the sixth tier this season following relegation in April
Marc White’s men will be eyeing up an immediate return
but find themselves in 10th position after 13 games having won five
Their last five outings have seen them share a 1-1 draw with Weston-super-Mare with 10 men
before earning back-to-back wins against Hornchurch and Hemel Hempstead Town (again with a one-man disadvantage following a dismissal)
before drawing 3-3 with 10-man Salisbury City last weekend and losing 1-0 at Tonbridge Angels in midweek
Tickets for the clash at Meadowbank are available to purchase online in advance and will also be available from the turnstiles on the day of the game
Supporters should note that segregation will be in place for this fixture and Meadowbank operates as a cashless stadium
Wings fans not making the journey on Saturday afternoon can follow all the action with live commentary thanks to Radio Wings

The Shots’ Academy Under 18s progress in the FA Youth Cup as they left it to a penalty shootout to overcome 10-man Dorking Wanderers
The first chance of the game fell to the Shots in the seventh minute as Tommy Nelson sent an early warning to his opponents
rattling the crossbar with a powerful effort from 25-yards out that had beaten Dorking ‘keeper Harry Charlesworth
Kian Dugdale raced past Chris Ewen but was pulled back by the Dorking defender on the edge of the box and as the last man
was sent off by the Referee who had initially waved away the foul but listen to the his Assistant who had flagged
Euan Moss’ effort was a good one but it was just too high as it left the bar rattling again
Dorking’s 10-men were doing well to deny Aldershot any attacking joy but in the 30th minute
a defensive header was misplaced straight into the path of Gabriel Wall but recovering well
the Dorking defence blocked his shot and deflected it just wide
Aldershot failed to clear their lines and it fell kindly to Ollie Rawlins who found the bottom corner with a good finish in what was Dorking’s first real chance of the game
only to see the goal disallowed with the Assistant Referee’s flag raised for offside
Euan Moss had raced forward to round Harry Charlesworth and slot it into the open net to no avail
Whatever was said in the Shots dressing room at half-time clearly worked a treat as they scored an equaliser just three minutes after the restart
Gabriel Wall showed creative intuition to turn in Kian Dugdale’s low cross with a smart backheel
The 10 men of Dorking were happy to kill the game’s rhythm at any opportunity and were disrupting Aldershot who
after Tom Neaill and Lewis Hillary saw shots blocked in the 55th minute
failed to cause any danger to Dorking’s goal for a large period of the second-half
Dorking were still able to cause the Aldershot defence problems and Luca Fullo headed just over from a corner in the 76th minute
A couple of minutes later up the other end
Tommy Nelson forced Harry Charlesworth into a save with a free-kick from just outside the box
Dorking should have snatched a late winner in the 85th minute as Jacob Todman found himself through on goal but he ran too wide and could only shoot straight into the arms of Keanu Black
The Shots have every right to be annoyed at the woodwork at either end as this time the post denied a late winner from George Comben just seconds after coming on in the 86th minute
Jacob Chrismas did well on the left to beat his man and get a cross in that Comben could only head against the foot of the post
And though Aldershot pushed forward in search of a late winner
they couldn’t find one and the game went to penalties
The Shots win the shootout 5-4 thanks to a Keanu Black’s save of Dorking’s final penalty and all five of the Shots takers (Sam Holubec
