Roxie Tricker from Horndean, is known for My Little Coffee Co
which became an instant success after starting out at South Lane Meadow
Fast forward to now, South Street Coffee Co is the newest adventure, demonstrating the success and popularity of the business.
“I can't thank enough the people who support me because otherwise we wouldn't be growing as we are,” Roxie told the Petersfield Post.
“It is a big step going from the van to a coffee shop, but I just wanted to take that next step to bring my coffee into Emsworth.
“A lot of the locals are quite pleased and my customers from the meadow have told me they will come over.”
Prior to opening, Roxie held a series of sneak peak events and the feedback was positive, with many locals glad to see the space brought back to life.
The past few years, the former barber was empty and run down, but it has now been given the ultimate revamp thanks to the work of Roxie’s husband Scott.
There are also touches that pay tribute to the town, Roxie explained: “There is an old paper that was found in the depths of layers of walls, it is 1919, so it goes right back.
“We've tried to keep some of the heritage in it, and local artist Trevor Smith has painted a couple of the pictures in here that you can also buy from him.”
Roxie hopes that the shop will help promote and support local businesses, with coffee beans from Winchester Coffee Roasters that supplies the van and seasonal cakes from Cakesmiths.
You can find Esmworth’s latest addition on South Street as you head towards the harbour.

I cannot tear myself away from Blandings Castle
Picture the idyllic setting that is Leamington Waterstones: the draft of air conditioning as you enter through the doors (for it was May – Waterstones served as both satisfying the book-buying habit and handing an opportunity to escape from sweltering heat)
the hit of that impossible-to-describe inky smell
inevitably turning towards the fiction section (for who would buy non-fiction during term three of university?) I approached the wide table stacked with piles of books
A man riding a pig and wearing a rather dapper suit – Summer Lightening by P.G
I’d realise I had started with the fourth in the series
You can never go wrong with a bit of humour
Wodehouse is the best I have stumbled upon
Wodehouse (1881-1975) is an established British author to many much-loved characters
From Jeeves and Wooster (as played by Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie in 1990-1993)
and Lord Emsworth with his prize pet pig the Empress of Blandings
every character he wrote was sure to be memorable
I’m surprised he bypassed my attention for so long
His literature and famous characters seem to be a quintessential element of Britishness that is referenced and used constantly
or the fact that he brought multiple new words into the English language (see ‘gruntled’ and ‘plonk’)
with Alexander Armstrong as its President and a list of Patrons including Sir Stephen Fry
It is safe to say he continues to be a pretty influential figure
It expands beyond pleasure too – reading new authors and books from a variety of periods can expose you to fresh perspectives and writing styles
Wodehouse has become a new favourite author of mine
making him a perfect example of why it is so important to try out new authors
Before I came across Wodehouse and his creations I was confident I had found my favourite book already
that nothing would ever live up to what I had already read
and our purposes for reading may change as our real-life situation evolves
I may love War and Peace and The Count of Monte Cristo
but I sure don’t want to be reading them to relax in between the multitude of essays I have due in Term 3
as well as challenging any preconceived notions you may have
especially against a specific genre or author
you can reflect on what it is that you didn’t like so much
Picking one section to focus on is always an easy way to start
But how does one actually go about picking something new
It’s true – walking into a bookshop and being bombarded with a vast amount of novels to choose from can be overwhelming
and it’s not unusual to walk out empty-handed in such a situation
it can be helpful to consult what you have enjoyed in the past: fiction
Maybe you love classic literature but want to try a new author within the genre
joining a local book club or literary society can be a fun option
Not only will you be exposed to something new regularly
but you can share your thoughts on the book with others while considering alternative views given by other members
Clubs can also be a great opportunity to chat with other book lovers about their favourite reads
where is better to hear about great books than from the experts themselves
my personal favourite method: walking into Waterstones and grabbing whatever meets the eye
Maybe you’ll happen to pick up your next favourite read

An application to change the name of a sailing club and to screen films could impact the lives of residents if approved.
Emsworth Slipper Sailing Club applied to Havant Borough Council in February 2025 to change its name to Emsworth Slipper Sailing Club Limited and to allow additional activities on its premises.
Some of these activities include the certificate for the ability to show films to members, as well as indoor sports, dance performances and playing recorded and live music inside and out.
The application stated that the club wanted permission for these activities during the whole week from midday to 11pm.
At the licensing sub-committee meeting on April 24, Lisa Pearce, objecting to the proposal, said that although she is “a huge fan” of the sailing club, “this is not an issue about the sailing club at all”.
Mrs Pearce said: “I think the club brings a lot to the town. But I live directly next to 36 The Quay. To know there is an explicit agreement that the club could have indoor live music seven days a week would have a material impact on me.
“I’m very fortunate I have big windows in my house, which means in summer it is unbelievably hot; it is impossible to be in there without the windows open, so I need to have my windows open.”
On behalf of the sailing club, Deborah May said that the addition of films would not cause any changes to the quality of life of local residents.
She added that the sailing club expects to project films four times a year.
Mrs May said: “The showing of films at the club, which may be incidental to other club activities, we believe would not have an adverse effect on noise, traffic, parking or congestion because members using the club are fully aware of parking limitations in Emsworth.
“Noise generated by showing films would be minimal – in fact, the club is likely to be quieter when showing a film than at any other time, as people would generally sit quietly when watching.”
Emsworth Slipper Sailing Club has operated on and around the quay for over 100 years. It was founded in 1921 and is located in the old Quay Mill at the end of South Street.
The licensing sub-committee will issue a decision in the following five days.
