Royal London Asset Management Property (Royal London) has acquired Enderby Logistics Hub
with plans to develop 1.2 million ft² of prime logistics space with an estimated GDV of £300m
Enderby Logistics Hub has outline planning consent for 1.205m ft² of industrial and logistics space
covering both manufacturing and distribution facilities
The development will reportedly feature a flagship 500,000ft² unit
addressing the strong occupational demand and current shortage of larger distribution centres in the region
Senior industrial asset manager at Royal London Asset Management Property Matthew Barnes said: “Enderby Logistics Hub represents a unique opportunity to design and develop a best-in-class
where the availability of Grade A supply is declining
“This acquisition represents a continuation of our strategy to acquire prime industrial development sites
“The East Midlands continues to be the most sought-after location for logistics occupiers
“With the largest unit planned at 500,000ft²
we are focusing on an underserved segment of the market where larger units are in high demand but short in supply.”

A video on the Gilbert Parts Depot Facebook page posted Friday shows a man exit the van and throw a rock at the door
A passenger can be seen standing next to the van while the rock is thrown
The pair then get back into the mini-van and leave the scene without entering the business
“Just had some visitors decide to donate a rock to our Enderby store,” said a post on the Facebook page

Curbside collection of residential spring pruning and bagged organics will occur Sunday
Unacceptable materials or materials that are not prepared properly will not be picked up
All bags and pruning bundles should be left at curbside by the previous evening
This program is intended to deal with pruning that typically occurs from one spring to the next
It is not intended to address large volumes of pruning associated with landscaping or properties that have not been tended for a number of years
If you have a large volume of prunings or a mixture of materials that do not fit with this program, you can drop it off year-round for free at one of RDNO’s Recycling and Disposal Facilities

It is one of the nation's darkest shadows stretching from Coast to Coast
Hundreds of women have gone missing in Canada
but they are not forgotten and justice is still be sought for the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls and Two-Spirited People
organized a rally Thursday at the Splatsin Community Centre in Enderby to push for more action to find those missing women
Some 200 people attended the rally that began with traditional drumming and dancing before several speakers took the microphone
Leon said the rally was a “historic” event in the ongoing quest for closure and justice
Leon said what she calls the Interior Salish gathering brought representatives from 35 nations “which has not happened since the 1800s.”
Another historic milestone at the rally was an Indigenous government and the City of Enderby working together to advocate for missing women with a special focus on local missing Indigenous women Deanna Wertz and Caitlin Potts
“That has never happened before when an Indigenous government and a municipal government have joined forces (for the missing women),” Leon said
A renewed search for the two women is planned for June 21
Leon said high-level members of government
Indigenous leaders and others also attended the rally via Zoom
Leon said the rally is “vital because as the Interior Salish we were not invited to go to the national inquiry so for the very first time women will be rising to tell the story about their families.”
Calling it “Canada's dirty secret,” Leon said the ongoing saga and heartache of missing women “is a huge issue
What we as Indigenous women have known is our women are actively hunted by serial killers.”
Leon said it is happening in every part of the country referencing the search for Indigenous women in the Winnipeg landfill and the Willy Picton murders.

Thursday's rally took place just days before Red Dress Day on May 5
the National Day of remembrance to honour the lives of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women

all properties connected to the City of Enderby drinking water system must follow Stage 2 water restrictions
Stage 2 water restrictions are required due to the reconstruction of Reservoir #1
which has reduced water storage capacity in the system
Stage 2 requires you to do some things differently so that there is enough water to meet community needs
You may water your lawn two days per week for a maximum of two hours per day
If you have an even-numbered civic address
The same also applies to underground irrigation
except that it must occur between 12am-6am
Remember to change the settings on your irrigation controller
Additional watering days are provided for drip irrigation and hand watering of lawns
as well as watering that is related to food security
Print off the graphic below and post it somewhere visible in your house
so that you have a quick reference for when you are permitted to water under Stage 2:
The City of Enderby drinking water system normally operates with two reservoirs that store water for domestic and emergency use
The oldest of the reservoirs is being rebuilt
the entire community is reliant upon a single reservoir for domestic and emergency use
This requires all of us to save water so that there is enough available for community needs
Reservoir construction is expected to be completed in late September 2025
In the event of an extraordinary situation
such as a structure fire or water break that causes a sudden and significant water loss
the need to replenish water storage to normal levels may require additional temporary
emergency water conservation measures over and above the Stage 2 restrictions
Any emergency water conservation measures would be announced on Facebook and Alertable
Follow us on Facebook and sign up for the free
Alertable app so you don’t miss any emergency updates
There are four stages under the Water Conservation & Drought Response Framework
In the event that Stage 2 is not sufficient to protect the drinking water supply
A change to a different stage will be announced in advance on the City’s website, Facebook page

Firefighters made quick work of an Enderby apartment fire
Calls about a fire at an apartment complex on George Street
across from the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses
Enderby Fire Department chief Richard Bastiaansen said
Enderby’s Andrew Leckie is calling for more inclusive dental care within the North Okanagan as he struggles to receive treatment
Leckie said issues with his teeth have caused an abscess to grow near his neck which has given him extreme pain for the last eight months
“If you have some devastating oral injury that needs to be dealt with in an emergency manner
a dental clinic isn't suited for that,” said Leckie
“I'm now stuck with this huge infection just getting out of hand with no answer
I don't know if it's going to kill me or not."
Leckie is on disability and told Castanet that many dentists in the area won’t go through the process to apply for the disability allotment
This makes it unaffordable for people on disability to access the service
“All of them have the choice to take part in the ministry's plan
It’s their choice to not do that,” said Leckie
Vernon does have the Community Dental Access Centre which opts into government coverage programs and offers care for low-income people in the North Okanagan
the BC Dental Association [BCDA] told Castanet most ER’s aren’t equipped for it
dentists will make every effort to fit emergency cases into their schedules
and are able to offer same-day or after-hours appointments
Hospital emergency rooms are not equipped to provide comprehensive dental care
pain management and triage to the appropriate healthcare provider,” said Stuart Chase with the BCDA
Leckie believes that the lack of available resources shows flaws within the dental system
“If there's no emergency dental care in a hospital
I think that means there's no foundation at all for cracks to show,” said Leckie
The Ministry of Health did not provide a comment before the time of publication
Editor’s note: this story has been updated to note the community dental clinic in Vernon

A local group has been making moves to try and save the historic Baxter Bridge located 11 kilometres east of Enderby
The group recently held two rallies on the bridge April 9. Greg Robinson, Admin of Facebook Group “Save the Baxter Bridge” said the rallies had over 110 people in attendance
“There's so many people against it
It's a beautiful old truss bridge and there's no reason for it to be torn down,” said Robinson
Members have also been gathering signatures in support of keeping the bridge
The group is planning on taking the petition to the Ministry of Transportation and Transit and their MLA
Anyone who wants to sign the petition is encouraged to contact the Facebook group or visit Roots and Rascals
The ministry previously told Castanet that the Baxter Bridge would be demolished
The one-lane bridge has been in service since 1950
it’s being replaced by a two-lane concrete and steel bridge that is expected to last up to 75 years
Robinson told Castanet the new bridge does not have any sidewalks
“They're saying they need wide shoulders to allow for that
but it’s still not safe for pedestrians if there's not a curb,” said Robinson
He estimates that between 50-75 people use the bridge daily during the summer months
“Locals over the last 75 years have used it to walk across and swim off it
They haven't taken the locals that use it every day into consideration at all,” said Robinson
When the group has tried to get more information about the bridge’s demolition
Robinson says they have been in talks with the MLA office but have received little contact from the province
“We're at a standstill,” said Robinson
Castanet has reached out to the Ministry of Transportation and Transit for any updates
Reservoir construction in Enderby will lead to Stage 2 water restrictions for the city's residents starting May 1
The restrictions will require residents to do things differently to ensure there is enough water to meet community needs
the city said in a press release Thursday.
Residents will be allowed to water their lawn two days per week for a maximum of two hours per day
The days are determined based on whether a property has an even or odd-numbered address
People with an odd-numbered address can water on Tuesday and Saturday; those with an even-numbered address can water on Wednesday and Sunday.
There are additional limits on automatic irrigation that will require programs to be changed to meet the new requirements
additional watering days are provided for drip irrigation and hand watering of lawns
The restrictions come as the oldest of the city's two reservoirs is being rebuilt
Construction on the reservoir is expected to wrap up in late September and until then, the entire community is reliant upon a single reservoir for domestic and emergency water use.
which helps to ensure that there is enough water available for everybody," the city said.
In the event of a situation such as a structure fire or a water break that causes a sudden
emergency water conservation measures beyond Stage 2 restrictions
There are four stages of water conservation
and a higher stage may be implemented depending on the need to conserve water.
These emergency measures would be announced through the city's emergency app, Alertable, as well as the Our Enderby Facebook page.
More information on Stage 2 water restriction requirements can be found on cityofenderby.com.
A separate project is underway for the Grindrod Water Utility
which is not affected by Stage 2 water restrictions. Grindrod Water Utility is a single building that houses a packaged water treatment system
Raw water is diverted from the Shuswap River and pumped into the single train packaged up-flow clarifier and filtration process
the piping within the facility has been experiencing corrosion and aging.
In addition to adding two water meters within the treatment plan
this project will upgrade the existing piping and valves to improve reliability and extend the service life of the system.
“This project emphasizes our commitment to ensuring that our community has access to safe
“These upgrades will enhance the lifespan of our water treatment facility and support the long-term sustainability and health of our residents
We are dedicated to investing in the future of our community
and this project is a step in that direction.”

One memory illustrates their financial situation at the time. Enderby is home to many Ukrainians
and so the wedding featured a Ukrainian tradition: Margaret recalls kicking off one of her shoes
and the shoe went around and was filled with money from the guests
"That was the only money we had for our honeymoon," she said.
With all their money spent on the wedding reception and their shoe money accounted for
the Sharmans had to go without their wedding photos
a friend since Grade 2 who was a bridesmaid at her wedding.
do you have your professional wedding pictures?' I said that we had no money to go pick them up
What Farnyuk told her next amounted to the best Christmas gift Margaret has ever received.
Farnyuk is the president of the Enderby and District Museum Society and has long been heavily involved in the museum
She received an intriguing call from Jessie Ann Gamble of the Armstrong Spallumcheen Museum and Art Gallery
Gamble had found an envelope at the Armstrong museum with photos from W.E
"(Gamble) was looking at them and she called Sandy and said 'Sandy
you have to look at these pictures because one of the girls in this picture
the envelope contained three photos from the Sharmans' 1968 wedding
and a third of the wedding party all together
adding it was "a bit of a Christmas miracle."
She was touched in particular by the photo of the wedding party
"When Sandy sent me a copy of the picture in a text
The wedding photos are mysterious for two reasons
Margaret doesn't know how they made their way to the Armstrong museum
nor can she remember who the photographer was, and she's unable to place the name W.E
What she does know is that she's eternally grateful to the unknown photographer for keeping the photos
"He's just an angel for taking the time to keep them and not dispose of them," she said
The Sharmans received copies of the photos three days before Christmas
Margaret says she's in the process of getting them professionally framed — and while 56 and a half years was a long time to wait for them
they now have an interesting backstory.
the photos reinforced fond memories of their wedding at the Enderby Drill Hall
they punctuate an early chapter in a "lucky and blessed" life that has brought them "wonderful" children and grandchildren
and fun times on the golf course in their senior years

The England youth international had an excellent first season in the Women's Super League and looks sure to have a huge future
There are not too many better ways to announce yourself as one of the Lionesses’ hottest prospects than by flicking the ball over the head of an England legend to set yourself up for your first goal for a club like Liverpool
marked her name out as one to remember this past season
It was back in November that she received the ball while under pressure from Steph Houghton
only to twist and lift it beyond the veteran defender while on the turn
her lightning pace leaving her opponent in her wake as she burst into the box and arrowed the ball into the far corner
It might not have been a monumental goal in terms of the result
simply changing the scoreline from 4-2 to 4-3 in the dying embers of Liverpool’s Continental Cup defeat to Manchester City
But after shining in the second-tier with Sheffield United for two years
this felt like the moment Enderby caught the eye on a wider scale and put herself on many more maps across England
The Lionesses have a lot of exciting young talent coming through the system right now, and a pathway prepared to help them to the top
but Enderby’s debut season in the Women’s Super League has only reinforced the idea that she is prime among them
A cannabis store in Enderby allowed dozens of families to (puff

The Grass Hut provided a donation of turkeys with all the fixings
which was able to fill hampers for approximately 65 homes over the holidays
Splatsin First Nation said in a post on its website Tuesday
The Grass Hut's donation also provided food for a memorial service and supported weekly client meals.
"Their kindness made a huge difference in bringing comfort and nourishment to our community during this special time," the post reads.
The Splatsin Community Pantry offered its heartfelt thanks to Richard Monvoisen and The Grass Hut for their "incredible" generosity

Reservoir construction in the City of Enderby will lead to Stage 2 water restrictions throughout the community as of May 1
The restrictions mean residents will be permitted to water their lawn two days per week for a maximum of two hours per day
The days are determined based on whether a property has an even or odd-numbered civic address
There are additional limits on automatic irrigation that will require programs to be changed to meet the new requirements
additional watering days are provided for drip irrigation and hand-watering of lawns
The city is implementing Stage 2 water restrictions while the oldest of its two reservoirs is being rebuilt
the community is reliant upon a single reservoir for domestic and emergency use
“Water conservation reduces water use
which helps to ensure that there is enough water available for everybody,” said a press release from Enderby
“In the event of an extraordinary situation
emergency water conservation measures over and above the Stage 2 restrictions.”
Emergency water conservation measures will be announced through the City’s emergency app, Alertable, as well as Facebook
Reservoir construction is expected to be completed by late September 2025
Complete information on Stage 2 water conservation requirements are available on the city’s website.
