UlsterMUX Ltd has submitted an application to Ofcom to operate a new small-scale DAB multiplex for Enniskillen
The not-for-profit operator wants to build on the launch of its Newry multiplex in 2024 and plans to deliver DAB+ coverage to over 28,000 residents
The proposal includes two transmission sites and is designed to reach Enniskillen and neighbouring towns such as Lisbellaw
It has already secured heads of terms with over a dozen stations
It’s also in discussions with regional broadcasters from the Republic of Ireland
such as Radio Nova and Northern Sound Radio
in anticipation of future changes to allow lawful cross-border carriage
“Enniskillen and the wider Fermanagh area have been left behind in the digital radio rollout,” said UlsterMUX Director John Gartlan
“Our team is passionate about giving this region a digital voice – one that reflects its community
with most equipment already in-house and a proven deployment team in place.”
UlsterMUX says it expects to have the multiplex on air within two months

Ardmore and Enniskillen Town United will contest this season's fonaCAB Craig Stanfield Junior Cup final after last four defeats of Raceview and St
currently leading the North West Junior League
accounted for Ballymena Saturday Morning League outfit Raceview at the Coleraine Showgrounds
Scoreless at the end of a scrappy first half
Ardmore moved in front just before the hour courtesy of a Patrick Ward header from just outside the six yard box after Gerry King had sent over a great cross from the right
Matthew Boyd levelled for the Broughshane-based Raceview from the spot with just over ten minutes remaining
awarded following a shove on Scott Montgomery
Tomas Casey restored Ardmore's lead on nine minutes into extra-time with a stunning curling finish into the top right corner after jinking past a couple of defenders just outside the area
Darren Crossan then made it 3-1 a few minutes after that with a strike in off the underside of the bar before
skipper Jack Higgins (pictured with his man-of-the-match award) calmly slotted home a fourth to book a first appearance in the Junior Cup final in the 47-year history of the club
At Stangmore Park Enniskillen Town United hit St
Oliver Plunkett II for six to continue the Fermanagh & Western League's long tradition of providing finalists for junior football's showpiece occasion
Jordan Breen needed just a minute to open the scoring after pouncing on the loose ball when keeper Ryan Sewell failed to hold onto Darren Freeman's initial effort
Freeman got on the scoresheet himself with just under a quarter-of-an-hour on the clock when he stepped inside two defenders to knock home to finish low from Conor Watson's cross
Nicholas Collen added a third on 39 minutes after Sewell did well to parry Freeman's free-kick before Cathal Beacom made it 4-0 from the spot following a foul on Freeman
Freeman bagged his second of the evening not long after the interval with a run down the left ending with a finish low into the opposite corner
Breen then wrapped the scoring up in the closing moments with a scrambled finish at the left post. The 2024/25 fonaCAB Craig Stanfield Junior Cup final will take place on Friday 25 April 2025 at the National Football Stadium at Windsor Park, kick-off 7:45pm. Get your tickets HERE

Recently the Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council
hosted a reception to mark the 50th Anniversary of Enniskillen Hockey Club
The following is the speech made by the Chair at the reception:
As Chair of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council
I am delighted to welcome you all here to The Townhall
Enniskillen for this reception to mark the 50th anniversary of Enniskillen Hockey Day
the Club enjoyed early success in 1977 followed by winning the Intermediate Cup in 1979
A significant success for the Club was winning the iconic McConnell Cup in 1994
This success earned you a place to represent Ulster in the All Ireland Finals where you emerged as Runner Ups to a strong Kilkenny Team
In 1996 you achieved promotion to the Senior 2 League making history by being the first Club in the West of Ulster to play and compete in Senior League Hockey
The strength and talent of the Club was such that you quickly gained promotion to the Senior 1 League in 1998
In 2014 the Club celebrated its 40th anniversary and
In the 2017-2018 League you enjoyed further significant success going unbeaten and winning the Junior Plate
which was the highest tally in the Club’s history
the Club has since reformed and you competed in the 2023-2024 Ulster Senior 3 League
and a memorable moment for your 50th anniversary year
was your success in receiving the Clubmark Bronze Award
The Club is the first in Ulster to receive this award which aims to identify
develop and recognise high quality clubs and the contribution they make to the development of the game
The Club is deserving of this award as grassroots has been pivotal to your success over the years and I know you continue to focus on Junior hockey
The Council is aware of the ongoing challenge the Club experiences in relation to the lack of appropriate pitch provision in Fermanagh
The Council is committed to continuing to liaise with stakeholders to help identify a suitable location which will enable the Club to continue to thrive
stamina and good hand and eye co-ordination
have demonstrated these talents and qualities to a high level and I believe this has contributed to your success over the years
This doesn’t come without ongoing dedication to attend training and I commend you for this as you have many other competing demands on your time including work
I hope that the successful history of the Club
will encourage you to continue and to inspire the next generation of hockey players
on the 50th anniversary of Enniskillen Hockey Club and I wish you continued success for the future
