The RSPCA has issued an appeal for information after two cats were found dead with “horrendous” head injuries in Gravesend
a member of the public found the body of a tabby cat near Ash Road and took it to a vets in the town centre
It was determined that the feline had suffered severe injuries to the head
a second deceased black and white cat was found behind a shed at Kings Farm Primary School and Nursery on nearby Cedar Avenue
The second cat had sustained similar injuries and investigations have ruled out the possibility that the felines were involved in road traffic incidents
Both cats were microchipped to the same owner and had trackers which had stopped working
was found he had a pink tracker attached to his blue collar
said: “Both of these cats suffered horrendous injuries and we are looking for anyone who may have seen something in these areas or who may have CCTV footage
The cats were both microchipped to the same owner
who says they were let out of the house for the first time for a while at the beginning of the week
“They both had trackers on which had stopped working and when I viewed the bodies only one cat still had a tracker on
A vet who examined the bodies ruled out road traffic accidents and she believes that blunt trauma was the cause of their deaths.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact the RSPCA appeals line number on 0300 123 8018 and refer to incident number 01505233

Food and alcohol worth more than £330 was stolen in a series of thefts in Gravesend
Police have now charged a suspect following a series of incidents earlier this month
cheese and alcohol worth almost £220 was reportedly stolen from three separate shops in the town
two members of staff were allegedly assaulted when they tried to intervene
with one of them having his glasses damaged during the incident
Kent Police was informed that a shop worker had been threatened after lamb valued at £130 was being stolen from another Gravesend store
Officers immediately attended the incident where they located and arrested a suspect
Whilst escorting him to custody it is alleged a constable was assaulted and a police vehicle was spat on
one count of assaulting an emergency worker and two criminal damages
The 38 year old was remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday
Mr Awjala was conditionally bailed to a hearing at Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday
A home in Gravesend linked to crime and anti-social behaviour will remain closed for another three months
Officers said "offensive conduct" linked to the address had led to "distress" for people in the area
An extension to the closure order in place at the property on Princes Road was granted following a court hearing
It means that anyone who tries to enter faces a fine and being sent to prison
Neighbourhood officers said there had been "multiple complaints" about "persistent antisocial behaviour and crime" previously connected to the address
Kent Police originally applied for a closure order at Sevenoaks Magistrates' Court in January
with the property secured after the occupants had departed
Constables returned to the court on Friday (April 4) to seek an extension
Police said this will allow Gravesham Borough Council to take formal possession of the property
Police Sergeant Steve Cole said: "The offensive conduct connected to this address included violence and drug dealing
The residents in the area were considerably distressed by the incidents and we have worked closely with the council to ensure the issue was resolved
"We are looking at other addresses in Gravesham and will not hesitate to take similar action when persistent crime and antisocial behaviour from one household blights the quality of life for everyone else."

In the heart of Gravesend’s Creative Quarter, which itself is at the centre of the town’s ever-developing riverside area, Hatch is another welcome new arrival
It has been created by Jamie Clark and Tom Mudge
the minds behind the successful Dead Pigeon in Rochester’s Old High Street Intra and Rainham’s The Greedy Banker
who have become known for their new take on the classic sports bar
with craft beers and outrageously good burgers.
Moving into Gravesend’s Borough Market building back in June
with oft-empty market stalls replaced by sharing benches and tables as well as some comfortable seating areas
New wooden cladding has brought the hatches a new
warmer look and the big-screen TVs in the centre of the space bring both more customers and a lively atmosphere
The Cocktail Bar and the Bierkeller (which even has a couple of genuine German beer pump taps) are serving up craft beverages
while the Augmented Reality Darts can be booked out for the competitive among you - there is also going to be a shuffleboard table shortly
There are now 12 hatches offering a range of goodies
with some street-food stalwarts who have been at Borough Market for years
like a Loaded Fries hatch and Chrystal’s Coffee Shop
A couple of our favourites from last time we visited were still here in the fabulous Ms
Earlyn’s offering of Caribbean treats like the outrageously nice curry goat and the ever-fresh Pad Thai Live
serving up gourmet hotdogs and melty Raclette cheese
dishing out authentic stone-baked pizza.
There’s also Filly’s Cheesesteaks serving up sliced rib-eye steaks in a hoagie roll
Laszlo’s Hungarian street food offers lángos (a flatbread) with a range of toppings
as well as traditional favourites like goulash and the stunning-looking chimney cake.
The Kathmandu Nepalese street-food hatch is serving handmade momo dumplings with dipping chutney as well as spicy snacks such as the peanuts sadeko
On our visit we were up for sharing and firstly opted for a dish from the Macho Nacho Man - yes
extra crunchy nachos smothered in slow-cooked beef brisket birra and queso (cheese sauce)
The Mac Hatch was our next port of call for the Mac Rib
which was a tray of mac n cheese covered in melted cheese with ground bbq short-rib beef sprinkled on top
A dusting of toasted sourdough breadcrumbs made for an extra crunch on the surface of a great sharing dish.
While the really varied street food offer is
it’s the little touches that make Hatch a great venue to visit
there are smaller booths that offer pop-up opportunities to local craft-food and drink retailers that alternate - so there’s always something new to see
There is also the deli and cheese counter offering cured meats
vinegars and chutneys - complete with its own fresh-bread stand - and bottle shop (with wines and craft beers) for people to pop in and grab some artisan bites and bevvies if they can’t stay
Wimbledon and the Olympics on this summer - with more to come
Having only been open for a couple of months
it’s great to see more customers using the space and we can’t wait to go back and see what happens next
