Welling United slipped to defeat at the death to Hemel Hempstead Town at Park View Road on Tuesday evening
the Wings pulled themselves level shortly after thanks to Sahid Kamara as it looked like they were heading for a first point under caretaker boss Brian Statham
But a 95th-minute penalty awarded to the visitors – their second of the evening after a first-half spot-kick was saved – stole the points for the side from Hertfordshire
The hosts looked bright in the first half and looked dangerous going forwards
despite not finding the net in the opening 45 minutes
before lifting an effort over the bar early on
while the dangerous-looking Sahid Kamara tested keeper Craig King with an effort at his near post
Kamara saw another shot deflect just over after he twisted and turned in the box
while Zain Walker’s effort from distance was well saved
the Tudors came close themselves on 25 minutes when Millar Matthews-Lewis’ effort fizzed just past the post
And after the referee bizarrely awarded a corner when there was no apparent deflection
the hosts were made to force the ball off the line when the delivery was directed towards goal
Hemel were given the opportunity to open the scoring when they were awarded a penalty following a foul in the box
Oliver Lynch stepped up and he would be denied not once
but twice – first from Rhys Lovett’s excellent save
diving to his left to keep out the forward’s spot-kick
before Chiori Johnson rushed in to clear his rebound off the line
the Wings came close at the other end when Sam Cornish laid off for Walker in the box
the home side had plenty of chances to go into the break with an advantage and very nearly did late in the half when King dropped a catch
leaving Kamara to pull the ball back across the box for Gene Kennedy
whose goalbound shot was cleared off the line by a green shirt
the game slowed down somewhat in the second with little in the way of chances for either side
it wasn’t until the away side finally opened the scoring on 77 minutes that the first opening of the half presented itself – Brandon Barzey’s cross from the left found its way to Oliver Lynch at the back post
Welling fought back to equalise and they did so in style
Kamara shaped up on the edge of the box and found the bottom left-hand corner with an excellent strike to secure his first goal for the club and what looked like a point
But there would be one more twist in the tale when Hemel were awarded their second penalty of the evening deep in injury time
A speculative shot into the box was adjudged to have struck a Welling arm and a different penalty taker was put forward in Joe White
who went one better than his colleague Lynch by stroking his spot-kick into the net
The Wings will go again as they host league leaders Worthing at Park View Road on Saturday

Full-time: Chelmsford City 0-0 Hemel Hempstead Town
Chelmsford City extended their unbeaten run to six matches at the EMJ Community Stadium after playing out a stalemate against Hemel Hempstead Town on Monday night
Tudors shot-stopper Craig King was the busiest of the two goalkeepers
but neither King nor his counterpart Ted Collins were tested regularly throughout the cold evening in Essex
Clarets forward Finley Wilkinson had the game’s best chances during the first half
the Barnet loanee was unable to find the back of the net to put his side in front
Wilkinson’s introduction to the team represented one of two changes to the eleven which started Saturday’s 4-3 win at Farnborough
Wilkinson took Jake Hyde’s place up front and started as City’s lone centre forward
while Jacob Bland played on the right wing instead of Nico Valentine
Bland and Wilkinson both looked lively early on and combined twice within the opening 20 minutes
Hemel struggled to clear Bland’s delivery across the face of goal in the 9th minute
Wilkinson poked his effort just over the crossbar from close range
Bland delivered another ball from the right flank
which this time found Wilkinson at the back post
Wilkinson’s header was straight at King
King denied Wilkinson in the 25th minute with a good stop after Kane Crichlow’s knockdown found the forward’s run
The 22-year-old beat the offside trap and had only King to beat
the Tudors’ shot-stopper remained alert and made himself big to save Wilkinson’s shot on target
Wilkinson was fed by full-back Sam Oguntayo’s cross from the left-hand side in the 34th minute but was unable to connect with the dangerous delivery despite being at full stretch
Hemel forced Collins into an impressive save on the cusp of half-time when he kept out Tudors’ captain Kyle Ajayi from scoring
A marauding run forward from Ajayi culminated in him heading an inswinging cross from the left on target
which Collins athletically dived across goal to keep out before the assistant referee raised his flag to signal an offside offence
There were fewer chances for both sides in the second half
with the legs of both sets of players growing weary as they played their second game in just over 48 hours
Charlie Ruff came closest to breaking the deadlock with a 73rd minute header from inside the penalty box
King comfortably saved the Chelmsford City vice-captain’s effort
After settling for a point against the Tudors
Robbie Simpson’s side climbed one place in the National League South standings and now sit 11th
The Clarets are next in action when they travel to Salisbury on Saturday

It looks like you haven't added any items to your cart yet
It was another fantastic Worthing performance as they claimed their fifth successive win and extended their lead at the top of the table to four points
fairly serene victory over one of the in-form teams in the league
Worthing kept their grip at the top of the table
Hemel just couldn’t cope with the pressure
and here they were at their brilliant best
There was an interesting addition to the team sheet prior to its 2pm announcement: Aarran Racine was on the bench
out of retirement and into the playing squad
There are few players as passionate and perfect to have on the pitch in moments such as these
Chris Agutter seems to have found that perfect team
Samuel Adenola might have curled his Hemel Hempstead side into an early lead
yet the reprieve appeared to awaken those in red
There are few players at this level who are as calm and assured as Danny Cashman is with the ball at his feet
Then the composure from the corner to confirm a fourth straight win
Cashman was supreme here again on his side’s route to five consecutive victories
With 20 minutes played Worthing started to shift through the gears
Liam Nash clanked the post with a rasping half-volley
before Cashman crashed the ball over the crossbar from a few yards out after his side had been awarded an indirect free-kick
In the 30th minute Cashman had curled his side into the lead
evading every red and green shirt in the box on its route beyond Craig King
chiefly through their centre-forward Oliver Lynch
He’d see a shot well-blocked by Sam Beard and an effort well-held by Lucas Covolan
They just didn’t quite have that clinical prowess to get them a goal
saw his shot superbly saved by King after Cashman’s delightful pass into his feet
Babalola was there to gobble up the rebound
That’s just about when the half-time whistle sounded
It had been a breeze: Worthing hungrier and sharper in just about every department
and Odei Sorondo and Jack Spong did not stop running throughout
It was almost three 10 minutes after the break
but Hemel were able to resist the bombardment in a chaotic scramble
if not three times within a matter of seconds
It came in the form of a classic Worthing goal
Joel Colbran spying the run of Nash in the box
he finds him with as much ease and time as Nash had to pick his spot
Imagine being able to bring these sorts of players at 3-0 up
There was even time for Racine to make an appearance
Three corners of a packed Woodside Road stand and applaud
As full time approached Worthing’s lead at the top had been extended to four points
Word got around as Truro surrendered a two-goal lead
and soon Woodside Road was fizzing with excitement
At the end Agutter saluted the crowd with a fixed grimace
It means so much to him and the rest of the team

Chelmsford City’s busy fixture schedule continues when the Clarets welcome Hemel Hempstead Town to Essex on Monday night
City’s quick return to action comes just over 48 hours after Robbie Simpson’s side earned an impressive 4-3 away win against Farnborough.
Kane Crichlow’s hat trick in Hampshire helped his side climb into the top half of the National League South table
Building on the momentum from Farnborough with another victory on Monday will see Simpson’s men climb to 10th in the table
Hemel Hempstead Town were also in action on Saturday and picked up their fourth win in their last six games
The Tudors are three points behind Chelmsford City in the league standings and will look to continue their recent ascent up the league by securing another three points
Here’s all that Clarets supporters need to know ahead of the game…
Click below to watch the highlights of the 2-2 draw in the reverse fixture earlier this season
New Hemel Hempstead Town manager Lee Allinson has restored stability to the Tudors after inheriting a team which was in a free fall
Allinson took over at the Focus Community Arena in December following the departure of Bobby Wilkinson
Wilkinson guided Hemel to their best ever start in the National League South
winning eight of his side’s first ten games and taking them to the top of the table
an accumulation of injuries and poor results following matchweek ten hampered his team’s progress
and Hemel dropped down to 17th in the table
Wilkinson left Hemel on December 6th following a winless run in the league which stretched back nearly two months to September 7th
Hemel moved quickly to appoint Allinson shortly after Wilkinson’s departure
and results have began to improve since the 39-year-old’s arrival
Former Hendon boss Allinson has won five of his nine matches in charge of the Tudors
with four of these victories coming in Hemel’s last six games
making them one of the league’s form sides heading into their visit to Essex on Monday
Winger Brandon Barzey has been in fine form since Allinson’s arrival – he has scored eight goals since Allinson’s reign began
Five of Barzey’s eight strikes have come in Hemel’s last three games
meaning City’s backline will have to be on high alert to stop the 25-year-old from continuing his red hot run of form

Striker Jordan Greenidge will miss Monday’s match as he serves the last game of his suspension
Greenidge’s fellow forwards Saleem Akanbi and Freddie Hockey remain sidelined but continue to progress in their recoveries from injury
Captain Cameron James also looks set to miss out again

when our first visit to Vauxhall Road brought the disappointment of an added time equaliser for the hosts after Joe Turner had given the Angels a second half lead
that subsequent visits have brought as much luck as that of any of King Henry VIII’s wives
The Tudors became a bogey side to Tonbridge Angels from that first visit and our 2-0 win
in the reverse fixture in November was our first-ever victory over the Hertfordshire side
After a great start to the season that saw Hemel top of the table in September after taking 17 points from their opening seven games
they went on a run of 12 straight National League South defeats and a 7-1 home defeat to Dorking Wanderers
followed by a 5-0 reverse at Salisbury led to Bobby Wilkinson losing his job
where he had been manager for the previous five years
turned their form around and since losing to Chesham United on New Year's Day they've lost just one of 10 games and that was to Boreham Wood
but are well clear of the relegation battle
Perhaps the name that stands out in their squad is striker Joe Iaciofano
Many of their goals come from wide with ex-Dartford man Brandon Barzey their top scorer with nine
has scored six time since his arrival in January
Jay Saunders said of Saturday’s opponents: “They are flying at the moment
Lee has gone in there and done really well
When Bobby Wilkinson left they had good players
but Lee’s had that new manager bounce
Our record there isn’t the best but hopefully we can change that.”
Admission to the game is: Adults £15, Concessions £10, Under-18 £5 and can be purchased on line in advance HERE
alternatively cash or card accepted on the turnstile
The Focus Community Arena has a large covered terrace at the far end of the ground and behind the other goal is a covered seating stand
On the opposite side of the ground from the entrance is another substantial covered seated stand
Food is available from a burger van and the clubhouse/bar is open to visiting supporters
There is a small car park at Vauxhall Road that fills quickly and is subject to a £5 charge
Vauxhall Road itself is a residential street and consideration to the residents should be given when parking
but this does leave a hefty 2.5 mile walk to the stadium
in the post-match interview after Tuesday evening’s win against Welling United
intimated that Mo Dabre and Harry Ottaway could be involved but Ryan Hanson will probably remain on the sidelines along with Scott Wagstaff

Two of the form teams in the National League South go head-to-head this weekend as Worthing play host to Hemel Hempstead Town
The Rebels made it four successive wins on Monday night at Aveley
as Danny Cashman’s brace helped them come from behind to secure another important three points
After dominating the majority of the first half
Worthing were trailing at the break after Alfie Lewis scored a wonder goal from some 45 yards
With all of the work to do in the second half
it took a moment of inspiration from Cashman to get his side level
the comeback was complete after netting at the far post from a corner
Worthing had moved four points clear at the top of the table
but with other teams playing 24 hours later
that lead is now just one point ahead of Truro
but Chris Agutter’s side still have a game in hand
Joe Cook and Glen Rea will both miss out through suspension on Saturday
Cook will serve the first of a two-match suspension having picked up ten yellow cards this season
while Rea will serve his third and final match suspended
“It was a really big win for us on Monday night
it was one of those games where I think if we had got the first goal
the scoreline might have been a bit more convincing
“We’ve just got to keep looking after our own house and keep trying to improve performances
“Lee has done a very good job at Hemel
but we’ve played plenty of teams in good form and ended teams’ good form
we’ll be very respectful of them and we know we’ll need to be at our best if we’re to win Saturday.”
the Tudors were leading the way at the top of the National League South
they had picked up just one more point and were plummeting down the league table in quite dramatic fashion
Lee Allinson was appointed as manager in early December and has overseen a fantastic turnaround
drawing four and losing three of his 16 matches in charge
They are currently on an eight-match unbeaten run
This season’s away match ended 1-1 on 24th August
Jack Spong equalising with almost the last kick of the match
A summary of our results against Hemel Hempstead Town opponents is shown below:

As Chris Agutter's side get set to take on one of the form teams in the division in Hemel Hempstead Town
with Dean Brennan and Stuart Maynard leaving early on
their worst position since joining the National League South
and Hemel started the 2019/20 season strongly
the campaign was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic
and Moore’s contract was not renewed
Lee Bircham and Steve Bateman took charge for the 2020/21 season
They were replaced by Mark Jones in 2021/22
The 2022/23 season saw further inconsistency
leading to Mark Jones’s departure in December 2023
although a play-off push remained unlikely with the Tudors eventually finishing the season in 15th
Vauxhall Road underwent a makeover as long-standing sponsors and friends of the club
The newly christened Focus Community Arena hosted its first match in front of a bumper crowd of over 1,200
where The Tudors secured a 1-0 victory over Yeovil
a challenging winter period saw a difficult run of results
this was overturned after a Derby Day victory at Clarence Park on Boxing Day
but this was short-lived as The Saints scored a 90+ minute winner to claim all three points in a 3-2 victory
Wins became hard to come by from that point onwards
leading to Brad Quinton’s departure and interim manager Alan Dowson being tasked with accumulating enough points to avoid a relegation battle
Everything was to play for on the final weekend of the season
with The Tudors teetering on the brink of the relegation zone
The Tudors secured their place in the National League South for a 10th consecutive year
Lee Allinson was appointed as Manager of Hemel Hempstead Town back in early December
where he had been Manager for the last five seasons
Hendon were 7th in the Isthmian Premier Division
at St Albans City before joining Biggleswade Town as manager and prior to that enjoyed a playing career as a midfielder with Arlesey Town
He was also a development coach at Chelsea FC
Kyle Ajayi is club captain at Hemel Hempstead Town
Kyle is a left-sided defender for Hemel Hempstead Town FC
now in his fifth season with the Tudors since joining from Dunstable Town in 2020
Renowned for his strength and power in the backline
Kyle was named the club’s Player of the Season for 2023/2024
He reached the milestone of 100 appearances
demonstrating remarkable consistency by missing only one league game throughout the campaign
His solid performances and reliability have made him a fan favourite
Brandon Barzey has been the stand out performer for the Tudors this season and is their top-scorer
Brandon began his career in the academy at Queens Park Rangers before being released as an 18-year-old in 2017
he signed for Hampton and Richmond Borough in 2021
he signed for Dartford in 2023 but appearances were limited and he saw himself join the Tudors for a short spell in December 2023 making an instant impact scoring in the St Albans Derby
Alexander strikes hat-trick but Borough settle for a point
The Sports were 2-0 and then 3-1 up at The ReachTV Stadium
but Hemel fought back to deny Adam Murray’s side all three points
but after results elsewhere the gap to the pack below has been reduced in the National League South
Borough were straight on the front foot at The ReachTV Stadium
Moussa Diarra met Pierce Bird’s hanging corner
and his downward header was eventually bundled home by Alexander
Things then got even better just three minutes later when Alexander was on hand to acrobatically turn Ollie Kensdale’s effort home from six yards out
Hemel weren’t without their chances though
with Mazeed Ogungbo and then Brandon Barzey firing off target when well placed in the first half
Joe Wright was then alert to save well from Oliver Lynch
but the Borough keeper was beaten just two minutes after the restart
Lynch ran onto a long ball over the top and poked past Wright
restored their two-goal lead on 55 minutes
Yahaya Bamba was bundled over inside the area
and Alexander stepped up to convert from the spot to complete his hat-trick
Hemel stayed in touch when Barzey finished well after the Sports had lost possession in their own third
before the visitors fought back to get on level terms midway through the second half
Ben Tompkins was given a free header and he met Barzey’s corner with a bullet header into the top corner
neither team could get the decisive blow in an entertaining affair in Sussex

Welling United’s Vanarama National League South fixture against Hemel Hempstead Town on Tuesday evening has been postponed following a pitch inspection at Park View Road
concerns were raised over certain parts of the playing surface
leading to a pitch inspection being carried out at 4.30pm on Tuesday afternoon
and despite the best efforts of the club’s groundstaff and volunteers
the continuing rainfall has resulted in the decision being made to postpone the game
A new date for the rearranged fixture will be announced once confirmed
Any tickets purchased in advance will be valid for the new date
Supporters who are unable to make the date for the rearranged fixture can request a refund via the Fanbase platform
Hemel Hempstead are Twerton’s visitors this Saturday as Bath City look to bounce back from a narrow defeat last weekend
Four goals in one half saw the Tudors claim the points against City in Hertfordshire in August
Your support will be crucial in helping City make amends for the reverse fixture
There are just three remaining home fixtures this season
so get to Twerton Park while you still can
the Saints will look to build upon their two wins against Slough Town and Bath City when they make the short journey to Hemel Hempstead Town for a replay of the abandoned Boxing Day Derby
The Saints travelled to Vauxhall Road on Boxing Day but the match was abandoned due to a power failure in the local area with the scores level at 1-1
Zane Banton had put the Saints ahead in the first half before Ricardo German equalised early in the second half
The Saints’ previous visit to Vauxhall Road was during last season when The Saints came behind from two goals down to win 3-2 in a memorable New Year’s Day encounter
The Tudors currently sit in 17th place on 40 points and have won 1
drawn 2 and lost 2 of their last 5 matches
They drew 0-0 at Vauxhall Road on Saturday afternoon when they faced Maidstone United
has continued to look to strengthen his squad since the two sides met on Boxing Day
Dorking Wanderers midfielder Dan Pybus recently joined the Tudors on a 28-day loan deal
The experienced 27-year-old has previously played for Bradford City
He’s a dogged midfielder who will be looking to win the ball back whenever the Saints are in possession
Luton Town loanee Ollie Lynch has been in excellent form for The Tudors
He collected the National League South’s Player of the Month award for January
Lynch came through the youth ranks with the Hatters
and has previously had spells on loan with Hitchin Town and Dulwich Hamlet
Manager Ian Culverhouse will be expecting to have a strong squad to select from although both Jack James and Ken Charles will remain sidelined as they continue to recover from injury

the Saints’ are back at Clarence Park for another big derby when they host Boreham Wood in the National League South
Full-time: Hemel Hempstead 2-2 Chelmsford City
Hemel Hempstead Town and Chelmsford City shared the points on Monday night at the Focus Community Arena in an end-to-end clash in Hertfordshire
Bobby Wilkinson’s side started the game faster than City and took the lead in the 15th minute when striker Saleem Akanbi scored on his Hemel home debut
Robbie Simpson had to make a first half substitution when Louis Dunne was forced off with an injury; Simpson opted to introduce Cameron James and switched to a three-at-the-back system which allowed City to cause their hosts more problems in the latter stages of the first half
Kalvin Kalala scored his first Chelmsford City goal in the 37th minute to draw the Clarets level before half-time – Hemel failed to clear Brad Williams’ cross and Kalala bundled the ball into the net at the back post
Charlie Ruff earned City a dream start to the second half when he scored his fourth National League South goal of the season in the 48th minute
Ruff guided the ball past Craig King from close-range and netted his third goal of the year at the Focus Community Arena
When the Tudors equalised in the 71st minute
City were made to rue a trio of missed chances which would’ve put them into a 3-1 lead
Jordan Greenidge and Ruff were both unable to score presentable opportunities
which Hemel substitute Joe Iaciofano capitalised on when he guided a header on target
Referee Harrison Blair judged Iaciofano’s header to have crossed the line
even though goalkeeper Woody Williamson got a hand to the effort and palmed it away from goal
Neither side were able to find a winning goal in the final 20 minutes of the match
meaning both teams were forced to settle with a point apiece
Simpson opted to make a change between the sticks at the Focus Community Arena and introduced Ipswich Town loanee Williamson for his full debut after the 18-year-old featured as an outfield player last time out against Farnborough
Williamson came on as a late substitute in place of Kane Crichlow on Saturday
and the Bermudian was unable to recover from the injury which forced him off against Boro; Dunne took Crichlow’s place in the starting XI to make his first start of the season
Hemel started the first half the strongest of the two sides and earned a deserved lead in the 15th minute
A well worked passing move by Wilkinson’s side ended in Akanbi scoring for the Tudors on his home debut
City were unable to clear Goerge Williams’ cross from the left flank and Akanbi capitalised by tapping the ball into the back of the net from close-range
Midfielder Dunne’s first National League South start of the season was cut short when he was forced off by an injury in the 28th minute
which resulted in Simpson switching from a four-at-the-back to a three-at-the-back system
The Clarets began to cause Hemel more problems after being forced into their change of formation
and Kalala’s first Chelmsford City goal meant the visitors went into half-time level pegging with their hosts
James’ spread of play found full-back turned wing-back Brad Williams in space down the right-hand-side
Williams’ delivery across goal created uncertainty amongst the Tudors’ backline which Kalala capitalised on when bundled the ball into the net at the back post
Simpson’s side started the second half faster than Hemel and took the lead three minutes after Harrison Blair blew his whistle to resume play in Hertfordshire
Osman Foyo’s cross from the right flank found Kalala inside the Hemel penalty area
and the Frenchman’s deft touch forward guided the ball into the path of Ruff
who struck a shot past Craig King from close-range
Ruff went from scoring a goal at one end to saving a goal at the other end when he headed Alfie Cerulli’s header off the line in the 57th minute
City came close to extending their lead on three occasions
Jordan Greenidge picked the pocket of a Hemel defender and struck an effort on target
which goalkeeper King impressively tipped on to the crossbar in the 59th minute
Ruff nearly secured his second goal of the night when a three-against-two counterattack resulted in Foyo squaring the ball to him inside the Tudors’ penalty area
Ruff missed the target and fired his effort over the crossbar
Greenidge hit the woodwork again in the 68th minute when he flicked Foyo’s low cross through the bodies of several Hemel defenders and onto the post
City were made to rue this trio of missed opportunities when the Tudors scored an equaliser in the 71st minute
Teddy Howe’s cross from the right flank picked out second half substitute Iaciofano at the back post
Iaciofano’s header on target was palmed away from goal by Williamson
but referee Blair and assistant Bogdan Khimych judged the ball to have crossed the line and awarded Wilkinson’s side their second goal of the game
Neither side were unable to find a crucial late winner in the final 20 minutes of the match
leaving both teams forced to settle to take a point from their second game in just over 48 hours
City return to action on Saturday when they welcome Salisbury to the EMJ Community Stadium
Chelmsford City XI: Williamson (GK); Williams
