Two new lifts and a footbridge have been installed at the Surrey station to improve access for rail passengers
A Network Rail project to improve the accessibility of Southern’s Leatherhead station has now been completed with the opening of a new footbridge and lifts
In partnership with the Department for Transport’s ‘Access for All’ scheme
an investment of £6.2 million means that the station is now much easier to use for customers that are wheelchair users
Southern has also improved facilities to make it safer and more secure for passengers who cycle to the station sustainably
While Leatherhead was previously considered step-free
steep and difficult route out of the station and under a railway bridge to switch between platforms avoiding stairs
Work on the new station footbridge and lifts
It now provides step-free access to each platform
New CCTV cameras and lighting were installed
with minor modifications also carried out to the existing ramps
and widening work on platform 2 undertaken to accommodate the lift there
The station remained open throughout the work
meaning there was no impact on how passengers accessed the station
The existing subway with steps at the station has also been retained and will remain open to customers
said: “I’m delighted that we’ve been able to open our latest Access for All scheme at Leatherhead
which will provide step-free access to those in wheelchairs
or with pushchairs or heavy luggage to be able to reach their trains
“We want our railway to be as inclusive as possible and Access for All is opening up travel by rail to more and more people
Leatherhead is just the latest station to be completed with more to come across our network over the next few years
Work has also started on a major scheme at Hither Green
and another project at Herne Bay has just been completed.”
Southern has improved existing facilities at the station by building a new cycle hub on platform 1 for 26 bikes with a pump and maintenance area
all protected by a key fob entry system to deter bike thieves
Southern has also put in a new double-decker bike rack for another 32 bikes and a parking area for six motorbikes
CCTV and lighting has also been upgraded to further improve safety and security
Customer Services Director at Govia Thameslink Railway which runs Southern trains, said: “Network Rail should be congratulated for delivering this scheme; we've had some great feedback already from passengers who really love the new bridge and lifts
"The changes have made it much easier to get to and from the platforms
Lifts benefit everyone who finds stairs a barrier
and for some disabled passengers this project has the potential to be life-changing
"Coupled with the extra work we've done to make it safer and more secure for people who cycle to the station sustainably
we think this investment will make a huge difference for many local people.”
Leatherhead is the latest station to benefit from accessibility upgrades as part of the Department for Transport’s (DfT) AfA scheme

The Tanners started as the better side; Lilly Hadrava had to make an early save as Jess Thomas struck well from range and the Bees goalkeeper did well to hold on in the first minute
She was called into action again on five minutes as her pass didn't have enough on it and Megan Button intercepted
Regan Graver was then positioned cleverly to clear a cross off the line at the back post seconds later
Brentford's number one was working hard to keep them level and produced a wonderful diving save on 13 minutes low to her right to turn away a powerful strike from Button
Karleigh Osborne's side created their first chance on 17 minutes when Chloe Logie held up the ball excellently and threaded Alissa Down through on goal
She was closed down well but managed to get her shot off and drew a strong save from Eva Phillips in the Leatherhead net
The home side came again though and broke well with three-on-two
Cassie Brown rolled in Button who was denied once more at the near post by Hadrava
Nikki Woods was lively and almost got the west Londoners ahead
nicking the ball off her full-back on 25 minutes and forcing Phillips to block well with her legs
Logie was inches away from opening the scoring
rattling the post after a clever swivel on the edge of the box
Freya Worsley headed Woods's corner narrowly wide and the sides looked destined to head into the break level
Woods's delivery was misjudged by the Leatherhead defence and Potter
nodded home amongst the bodies to give the Bees the advantage
Brentford started the second 45 in much better fashion
Wing-back Phillips broke onto Down's pass and thumped her strike into the roof of the net to give the visitors some breathing room
Osborne's side had found their groove; Phillips almost had a second
cutting across her half-volley well but sent it just over the bar
The rain started to pour but it didn't dampen Brentford's spirit
On 59 minutes Phillips added a third and her second of the day with a goal of the season contender
Carolin Engelhard found her just inside the opposition half and she drove with the ball then unleashed a thunderous strike from 35 yards to beat her namesake in Leatherhead's goal
The west Londoners worked tirelessly to keep their first clean sheet in four games
Graver and Samantha Read were superb as a unit in front of Hadrava
the Bees' keeper made the best save of the day
a superb reaction block from 12 yards to keep Leatherhead out and round off a masterful performance between the sticks
The Bees need two more wins to secure promotion
and are next in action away at Denham United Women on Tuesday 22 April (7.45pm kick-off BST)
Brentford Women head coach Karleigh Osborne reacts to moving to within two wins of promotion
Leatherhead are a good team," said Osborne
"We've put ourselves in a really good position
we've worked our socks off for it."

A huge 16 of those were doing their very first ever parkrun

Whilst we can’t offer quite such a spectacular location for our parkrun
Millie and James enjoyed their visits to Leatherhead
We look forward to seeing our first timers and our visitors again soon
Personal Bests: The perfect conditions meant that a huge 33 juniors ran their best ever parkrun time – including regular front runner Thomas
Adults in the finish funnel: Thank you to all the grown ups who ran round the course today but remembered not to go through the finish funnel
It does keep things nice and simple for our timekeepers

Bertie collected his half marathon wristband after completing 11 parkruns
Ottilie and Bjorn joined the Marathon junior parkrun Club after completing 22 parkruns
Sisters and regular Leatherhead runners Sylvie and Amelie collected their ultra marathon wristbands – that’s 50 parkruns that they’ve both completed
Fantastic running everyone – and we’re looking forward to seeing you all work towards your next awards

A report endorsing the work of the Leatherhead Business Improvement District (BID) Steering Group
will be considered at Mole Valley District Council (MVDC) Scrutiny and Cabinet meetings on 8 April and 16 April 2025 respectively
Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) are business-led partnerships focused on improving and enhancing a specific commercial area
Common initiatives include public realm enhancements
With nearly 350 BIDs operating across the UK
they now play a crucial role in revitalising town centres
and creating attractive spaces for residents
A levy is charged on eligible business rate payers within the BID boundary and the total levy collected is then used to develop projects which will benefit businesses in the local area
the outcome of which determines whether the scheme goes ahead
In the case of Leatherhead, the BID Proposer is a business-led group currently operating as the Leatherhead BID Steering Group (LBSG)
advisers Matthews Associates have produced a feasibility study showing the potential to generate an investment of approximately £100,000 per year in the Leatherhead BID area
The study also sets out the potential BID area which would encompass the core town centre as well as key adjacent commercial areas.
subject to consideration of the full business plan at a subsequent Cabinet meeting
to vote in favour should a ballot be called
The report also recommends that the set-up costs of the BID be funded by a grant from MVDC
MVDC would be charged the BID levy on any property it owns within the proposed BID zone
the next steps in the process would be to develop a governance structure (to define roles and responsibilities) and to engage specialist and legal support to be able to develop a full BID proposal and consult further with stakeholders
in preparation for holding a BID ballot.
Councillor Paula Keay, MVDC Cabinet Member for Sustainable Economy, said: “Following the success of the established BID in Dorking, I am excited to work with the LBSG to progress the Leatherhead BID proposal to the next stage. “The work being undertaken is a clear demonstration of the Opportunity priority of the 2024-28 MVDC Council Strategy
supporting businesses to thrive and achieve their potential and leading the transformation of Leatherhead town centre
supporting initiatives that bolster the high street.”
On 4 February 2025, Mole Valley District Council (MVDC) Cabinet Sub-Committee will decide if the Planning Strategy for Bull Hill and the Swan Centre proposed by the Leret Partnership (Joint Venture between MVDC and Kier Property Development) should be approved
In October 2023, Kier Property Developments Ltd (KPD) and Mole Valley District Council (MVDC) established a Joint Venture (JV) known as ‘The Leret Partnership’ to drive the regeneration of the Swan Centre and Bull Hill sites as part of the Transform Leatherhead masterplan
This partnership is committed to delivering a sustainable transformation of these key sites
which play a vital role in the wider vision to create a vibrant
The plan aims to attract people of all ages to live
and relax in Leatherhead’s revitalised town centre
The first Annual Business Plan 2024-25 was approved by MVDC Cabinet in February 2024
Public consultation on the emerging concepts for Bull Hill and the Swan Centre took place during July – September 2024
together with the results of further engagement with other key stakeholders such as the Local Planning Authority
Thames Water as well as further technical design and due diligence
market testing and viability have all been taken into account. The Planning Strategy sets out the principles of a recommended scheme for progressing to a planning application later this year and if approved
it will unlock a further investment of just under £1.5million by the LLP in additional design and technical reports and advice required to progress the project through the planning process. .
KPD has prepared a revised Annual Business Plan for the period 1 April 2025 up to and including 31 March 2026 for consideration by the LLP which sets out the key activities
milestones and associated investment required to progress the project in 2025/2026. The Planning Strategy and the associated Annual Business Plan will be recommended to the Cabinet Sub-Committee for approval on 4 February 2024.
the Bull Hill development will feature new homes
including affordable apartments and townhouses
alongside a Transport Hub with parking facilities
Net Carbon Zero office spaces to support local employment
enhanced public spaces for people and wildlife
the plans for the Swan Centre are to create a vibrant leisure hub with restaurants
It will also retain and improve existing retail units while enhancing the public realm with upgraded shop fronts
Cabinet Member for Projects said: “Approving the Planning Strategy and the Annual Business Plan 2025/2026 will enable the LLP to progress the proposals up to and beyond submission of the hybrid planning application for the Swan Centre and Bull Hill. Although the proposals have been modified from the concept shared at the first stage of the public consultation following feedback from the key stakeholders
they still adhere to the vision and principles outlined in the Transform Leatherhead Masterplan
“Approving the plans will move us one step closer to delivering much-needed new homes across a range of tenures
boosting the town centre’s catchment population and supporting local businesses
The plans also promise significant investment in open spaces and public areas
along with the creation of a new leisure anchor for Leatherhead
the regeneration will bring substantial social and economic benefits—both during construction and long after its completion
The Leret Partnership – a joint venture between Kier Property and Mole Valley District Council (MVDC) – would like to hear your feedback on the updated proposals for the regeneration of the Swan Centre and Bull Hill in Leatherhead
The project team has refined the proposals to reflect community input since the last consultation period. This includes an increase in public green space
and the rearrangement of buildings on Bull Hill to better suit the town centre
The Leret Partnership aims to deliver a transformative regeneration programme of the Swan Centre and Bull Hill
Key elements of the proposals include new homes
improved public realm and enhanced connectivity around Leatherhead town centre.
Detailed information about the proposals and a summary of the previous consultation can be found on the project website at theleretpartnership.co.uk.
The engagement period will be ending at 23.59 on Monday 24 March and will include two in-person events and one online webinar
offering opportunities to learn more about the updated proposals
Residents and businesses are encouraged to participate and share their thoughts
The project team will then review any comments before finalising the scheme and submitting a planning application.
Brentford Women have been on imperious form this season
winning every game they've played in the division
They boast a goal difference of +111 and currently sit on 51 points
The Bees have put themselves in a superb position
and if they can win their next three games against Leatherhead Women
they will be crowned champions and win promotion to the London South East Regional Women's Premier
Karleigh Osborne spoke about the need to win games in different ways: "We're not always going to be able to play the beautiful and expansive football that we want to
Sometimes we are going to have to dig results out and be relentless
especially as we reach the business end of the season."
The west Londoners had to work hard to earn a 3-1 home win against 10th-placed Ashmount Leigh last weekend
Centre-back Carolin Engelhard opened the scoring after a frustrating opening 30 minutes
before second-half goals from Kirsty Matthews and Alissa Down secured the three points
Leatherhead sit third in the division and will provide a tough test for Osborne's side
lose 6-1 last time out away at Brentford's title rivals
The club will have updates of the game against Leatherhead on social media
as well as a match report on the official website and app
Brentford Women B host Comets at Bedfont Sports Ground on the same afternoon (3pm kick-off BST)
Dartford booked themselves a place in the hat for the 3rd Qualifying Round of the FA Cup
after first-half goals from Callum Jones and Eddie Dsane saw off a spirited Leatherhead side on a beautiful afternoon at Bericote Powerhouse Princes Park
Having beaten Dulwich Hamlet in a replay in the previous round
The Tanners’ expectations were high going into this fixture
just as the 675 supporters were getting comfortable
an early mistake at the back proved costly
Callum Jones pounced to give Dartford a 6th minute lead after goalkeeper Sonny Wheeler couldn’t hold Eddie Dsane’s initial strike
The Leatherhead shot-stopper redeemed himself soon afterwards
by making good saves to keep out Denzelle Olopade (17) and Samuel Okoye (22)
Ian Selley’s side did begin to grow into the game
and a Mert Apat intervention in the 35th minute prevented Deondre Date from troubling goalkeeper Jacob Marsden
The Dartford number one would go on to mark his return from a pre-season injury by registering a clean sheet after completing a solid afternoon between the sticks
The Darts extended their advantage seven minutes later though
when a wonderful pass by Samir Carruthers split the Leatherhead defence and released Eddie Dsane
The striker still had his work cut out for him
before firing into the bottom corner to net his fourth goal in six starts in all competitions (42)
The beginning of the second forty-five saw the Darts immediately on the front-foot
as they raced into the Leatherhead box in numbers only for a defender commit an obvious foul within seconds
waved away the appeals much to the exasperation of the home faithful… The decision was the referee’s third denial of what looked like blatant spot-kicks so far (two for the Darts
the visitors began to take the game to their hosts in a bid to claw their way back into proceedings
only the alertness of Jacob Marsden prevented them from pulling a goal back
as he made two good saves on 49 and 50 minutes
They soon ran out of a little steam though
as Ady Pennock’s outfit began to even out the possession
the hosts came close to adding a third of the afternoon when Callum Jones (72) and Denzelle Olopade (76) missed the target narrowly with fine efforts
Sonny Wheeler pulled off an excellent save in the 85th minute to prevent the brilliant Callum Jones from scoring his second goal
after the striker had reached Sam Odaudu’s free-kick first
After which the Darts controlled the remaining minutes
Callum Jones’ performance earned him a deserved Man of The Match award
as the Darts booked a place in the next round of this historic competition

Following the success of the first public exhibitions and webinar concerning initial proposals for a new mixed-use development at the Swan Centre and Bull Hill
The Leret Partnership is inviting the residents to upcoming events in Fetcham
and Bookham to continue the feedback process to help shape the plans further
a joint venture between Kier Property and Mole Valley District Council (MVDC)
held events in Leatherhead over two weeks between 11th and 20th July 2024 to listen to the public’s views on its emerging proposals to develop new high-quality homes alongside a range of new commercial facilities
as part of the wider Transform Leatherhead programme
In total there were 584 visits to the public exhibitions
with 399 feedback forms completed in person or online to date
There were 46 individual registrations to attend the webinar
Demographic data among responders showed a healthy balance of age groups and genders
and the vast majority of those filling out surveys were local residents of Leatherhead
The information contained within the responses has given The Leret Partnership’s project team an important steer as they adapt the proposals to better reflect the needs and desires of local residents
This feedback will be taken into consideration as the plans continue to evolve
before a further round of pre-application consultation in due course
and Bookham will be taking place between 5:30pm and 7:30pm at the following dates and locations:
These events offer local residents in these villages an opportunity to find out more about the proposals and have their say
The project team wants to hear what these nearby communities think about these initial proposals
The consultation process will close at midnight on Monday 16 September 2024
Kier Property said: “We’re proud of our ambitions to revitalise Leatherhead’s town centre
and the events so far have given us much food for thought as we adapt our plans according to the needs of the local community
It was important to us to ensure turnout was as high as possible
and reflected the demographic profile of the community
“We look forward to further understanding what people want to see from the new developments in the next set of events.”
“It’s great to see so many people engaging with our consultation
We’ve been actively seeking views from residents
businesses and key stakeholders who will be directly affected by the development
we would like to hear from people in the surrounding areas to understand if our proposals appeal to them and whether they might visit Leatherhead more often or even consider moving here
we’ve decided to add three additional sessions to our public engagement on the Leret Partnership consultation
Two of these events are scheduled for September
ensuring that everyone with an interest has an opportunity to find a suitable date.”
For anyone unable to attend the events, the project website theleretpartnership.co.uk has information about the project
and consultation along with a range of options for submitting feedback
The deadline for submission of comments to this consultation is 23:59 on Monday 16 September 2024

Councillor Stephen Cooksey, Leader of Mole Valley District Council (MVDC), said: “I am delighted to bring you news that following cash access assessments for Dorking and Leatherhead, as requested by Mole Valley District Council, LINK has recommended the permanent provision of a banking hub for Dorking
and ‘an automated deposit service (notes)’ for Leatherhead
“The setting up of the banking hub will be led by Cash Access UK and it is expected that it will be in place in Dorking in a matter of months
Meanwhile we are looking into the appeal process available for us to push for a banking hub in Leatherhead too
Please be assured that I will share further updates as and when they become available
“What I can say for certain is that I believe LINK’s decision today is a victory for our district and I would like to extend my very sincerest thanks to everyone who sent messages to LINK during the assessment period to tell them of their support for a banking hub to be introduced in one or both town centre locations
I would also like to thank all MVDCs officers and Councillors involved in lobbying for banking hubs in the district
We remain committed to delivering a banking hub in Leatherhead too and will continue our dialogue with LINK
“We have been pushing for banking hubs to replace closed bank branches in the district since July 2022 as we know how vital access to banking services is for our residents and businesses
Successfully securing a banking hub for Dorking (and hopefully Leatherhead) will provide a much-needed solution for our community
ensuring access to essential financial services can continue.”

It wasn’t the result Sutton wanted in their league cup tie away to Leatherhead on Sunday
The team travelled to Sheerwater for the tie as both teams look to progress to the Quarter Final of the League Cup
The game started well for the U’s with Emma Spear hitting one off the far post which ultimately ricocheted into the back of the net to give Sutton the lead early on in the game
Around 15 minutes after Spear’s opener for Sutton Leatherhead equalises to make it 1-1
Ten minutes after their first Leatherhead put away a second which would see them go into the break a goal ahead
The second half started well for the U’s with a handful of players having chances early on
It remained 2-1 to Leatherhead for the majority of the game as Sutton looked to get an all important equaliser
But with 80 minutes gone Leatherhead extended their lead with a third goal and just 10 minutes later they finished the game with a fourth goal that would ultimately win them the game
Sutton exit the League Cup at the third round stage and now look ahead to their away trip to Guernsey FC in the Combined Counties League Cup Third Round
Manager Lucy Clark is “looking to bounce back in Guernsey”

On Wednesday 13 November 2024, businesses in Leatherhead are invited to The Leatherhead Theatre to have their say on the proposed idea of a Business Improvement District (BID) for Leatherhead town centre
The event is being hosted by the newly formed ‘Leatherhead BID Steering Group’, facilitated by funding from Mole Valley District Council (MVDC)
and will be followed by an online survey that will remain open for a further two weeks
A Business Improvement District (BID) is a business-led and business-funded body formed to invest in and improve a defined commercial area
BIDs can work collaboratively to increase footfall
and maximise the effect of marketing and promotion
they can also provide benefits to those working
for example through extra street cleaning or recycling initiatives
The Leatherhead BID Steering Group will be hosting three drop-in events at the theatre on Wednesday 13 November
for businesses located within the town centre to come along to find out more and have their say on the possibility of a BID for Leatherhead
Businesses interested in attending should register in advance at leatherheadbid.eventbrite.com
All feedback and views will be incorporated into a feasibility report
the Leatherhead BID Steering Group will consider whether to move forward with a formal BID – agreeing the BID zone
developing a business plan in consultation with the business community and deciding when to hold a formal ballot
MVDC Cabinet Member for Sustainable Economy
said: “BIDs can be really effective in ensuring that businesses are represented and have a stronger collective voice on some of the issues that affect their trading area
We have been facilitating the conversation amongst local businesses interested in forming a BID in Leatherhead
and look forward to seeing the results and supporting the next steps.”
For all enquiries, please email the Leatherhead BID Steering Group at leatherheadbid@gmail.com

Mount Brown on the southern outskirts of Guildford where Surrey Police Headquarters will be staying
Surrey Police spent over £23 million in a failed attempt to move its headquarters
The force originally planned to move from its current home at Mount Browne
Information obtained by a Freedom of Information request showed nearly £3 million was spent on failed plans on top of the almost £20.5 million used to buy the Leatherhead site
some of which will be recouped when part of the site not required for the new Eastern Division HQ is sold
Surrey Police bought the former Electrical Research Association (ERA) and Cobham Industries site on Cleeve Road in 2018
purpose-built headquarters from the ground up
The move was part of an extensive estates project to deliver long-term savings by moving out and disposing of some of the current outdated and costly buildings
See also: Surrey Police Headquarters Leaving Guildford for Leatherhead
approximately £2.9 million was spent on the plans for redeveloping the Leatherhead site
These were a mixture of design team fees and survey costs
the new Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) and the Chief Constable
See also: Surrey Police Considering Staying Put in Guildford – Talk of Co-location with Councils
Around half of the costs were incurred in establishing the project brief and defining strategies for the project
which the PCC said was directly transferrable to the current Mount Browne redevelopment project
Plans to develop the site were paused in June 2021 whilst an independent review
was carried out to look specifically at the financial implications of the project
the force had three options for the future:
Former Surrey Chief Constable Gavin Stephens
the new Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC)
and the then Chief Constable Gavin Stephens decided that the best option was to redevelop its existing home
Despite the original Leatherhead plans being part of a cost-saving exercise
the PCC chose to redevelop the current HQ instead
saying it was better value for public money
a decision was taken to build a new headquarters site in Leatherhead and I can fully understand the reasons why
But the policing landscape significantly shifted in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic
especially in the way the Surrey Police workforce operated in terms of remote working
“I made the decision together with the Chief Constable at the time that remaining at Mount Browne was the right option for both Surrey Police and the public we serve
“The most important factor for me has always been that we provide value for money for our residents and deliver an even better policing service for them.”
Ms Townsend added: “Mount Browne has been Surrey Police’s home for over 70 years
expensive to maintain and simply no longer meet the requirements of a modern police force
“Staying as we are is not an option for the future
The redevelopment plans for our HQ site will deliver a vastly improved working environment that is sustainable for the Force
Plans to transform Mount Browne into a modern police headquarters were approved in November 2024
The scheme includes accommodation for police students
decked car park as well as constructing new operational buildings
See also: Police Get Approval for HQ Redevelopment and New Access
and before any spades were even put in the ground
£4.6m was spent on the designs and plans for developing Surrey Police’s current home
work from the Leatherhead scheme was directly transferrable to the Mount Browne redevelopment project
The previous survey work for Leatherhead is also now being used to inform the designs for the new divisional HQ
A Surrey Police spokesperson said the force is “unable to confirm exact expected spends while the project is ongoing”
The HQ redevelopment is said to be funded by selling other sites and through long term loans
The force said it is in the process of reviewing all sites across our estates to assess which are still fit for purpose for today’s policing requirements and where it can work more efficiently
The spokesperson added: “We will have new facilities to support our officers and staff in their important role protecting the community
these plans will save public money; this remains a key focus of the programme and our work around it.”
Surrey Police claim that four years after the site’s completion
the force will have recovered all costs linked to the development
They also say the plans will help reduce running costs as it increases the environmental and sustainability credentials of all our buildings
A Surrey Police spokesperson said: “We are committed to creating a site that secures our heritage
reflects the needs of today’s policing environment
These plans will also enable us to continue to attract and retain the best officers and staff across the Force
which will be vital as we continue to work to make a real difference to the communities of Surrey.”
What is happening with the Leatherhead site
Surrey Police is now selling part of the site
while repurposing the rest of the land to develop a new Eastern Division HQ
The plot will now serve communities across Mole Valley
A spokesperson said the proposal will “enable us to build a site that is fit for purpose and policing East Surrey both now and in the future”
Although these plans are in the early stages
the force said it is now engaging with Mole Valley District Council
The proposed new Leatherhead building will replace the old Eastern Division HQ in Reigate
After Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) was discovered in Reigate Police Station in September 2023
the East Surrey police division temporarily moved to Surrey Fire and Rescue’s former HQ
How many public facing police officers or PCSOs would this stupendous waste of public money have brought
Depends on whether its budgeted as a project development and a capital/asset cosy
It matters not whether it is capital or revenue
it IS taxpayers money and could and should have been better spent – as my point suggests on Police officers or PCSOs
It will be interesting to see if the police start an investigation in to themselves for wasting public monies
similar to that Guildford Borough Council accused contractors of doing in 2023
The removed contractors were spending money to meet statutory requirements
as shown by GBC having to report themselves to the housing regulator for still not meeting them in 2024
more £10s of millions there; pretty soon you’re talking real money

Dartford hope to continue their run in the F.A Cup by overcoming Leatherhead at Princes Park this Saturday
The Darts will be determined to avoid an upset against the Isthmian South Central side and put their heavy derby defeat behind them
Leatherhead are on their fifth cup game already
Having started in the F.A Cup preliminary round
the Tanners also began their F.A Trophy campaign last weekend
Adrian Pennock named an unchanged side for a fourth consecutive match against rivals Dover Athletic last time out
The Dartford boss could make some changes to the starting eleven after his side fell to a 5-1 away defeat
Costly mistakes helped the hosts race into a half-time lead and after the break they went four goals up
Jeremiah Pinder’s fine strike was merely a consolation
but it was the academy graduate’s maiden goal for the first team
There was still time for Dover Athletic to net a fifth on a disappointing afternoon for the Darts
With the run of four consecutive wins coming to an end
Luther Williams has started every game for the Darts since joining from Leatherhead in the summer
so could striker Eddie Dsane who played for the Tanners during the 2019/2020 season
Duane Ofori-Acheampong is still recovering from his pre-season injury and yet to feature since rejoining Dartford
Brendon Cass scored twice last time the Darts played Leatherhead 17 years ago
After shifting from the Isthmian Division One South to the North
Dartford hosted the Tanners in the F.A Cup preliminary round as equals
Tom Bradbrook also found the back of the net in the 3-0 victory
Tony Burman’s side went two more rounds before going out to higher non-league opponents Bromley
A season earlier Dartford and Leatherhead were in the same division and it remains the only time the pair have met in the league
On both occasions the away team brought home maximum points
Leatherhead were the last side to play the Darts in a league fixture before the Princes Park homecoming and the Tanners won 2-1
The reverse match almost a month later saw Dartford win 1-0
a convincing 6-2 win over Marlow eased the Darts into the second qualifying round
Scoring in his third consecutive appearance
Dsane put Dartford in front at Princes Park
Just before the break Oliver Box got off the mark for the campaign by doubling the lead moments later
Then early in the second half Box added another
Marlow pulled a goal back from the spot before Ben Allen scored his first goals for the Darts either side of the away side’s second
Callum Jones grabbed his second in as many games
Leatherhead have negotiated through two rounds this term under the guidance of former F.A Cup winner Ian Selley
The ex Arsenal midfielder lifted the cup in 1993 when the Gunners beat Sheffield Wednesday in a replay
It was his current club who needed a replay a fortnight ago after the Tanners drew 2-2 at Dulwich Hamlet
Leatherhead came from behind with goals from Seb Karczewski
but a late leveller forced the two sides to battle it out again days later
The F.A Cup upset was completed in the rematch when Tom Kavanagh converted from the spot with five minutes remaining
In the preliminary round Leatherhead were drawn against Isthmian South East side Sevenoaks Town
Two well taken strikes from Deondre Date and Marco Haigh were enough to see the Surrey side through
Date was also the match winner last weekend for the Tanners in their 1-0 F.A Trophy triumph over Hayes and Yeading United
Cup runs have meant little action in the league for the Tanners
Prior to their scheduled trip to Guernsey on Wednesday
Leatherhead had picked up just one point from their opening three Isthmian South Central games
An opening day draw at Southall was followed up with defeats at home to Hartley Wintney and on the road at Selley’s former club Westfield
Dartford wins: 4 / Leatherhead wins: 2 / Draws: 0
Dartford 3 – 0 Leatherhead (01/09/2007 – F.A Cup)Leatherhead 0 – 1 Dartford (21/11/2006 – Isthmian Division One South)Dartford 1 – 2 Leatherhead (30/10/2006 – Isthmian Division One South)Dartford 5 – 2 Leatherhead (09/10/2004 – F.A Trophy)Dartford 2 – 1 Leatherhead (25/01/1982 – F.A Trophy)Leatherhead 5 – 1 Dartford (09/02/1978 – F.A Trophy)
Dartford progressed in the F.A Cup on this day in 2003 by beating Peacehaven and Telscombe
The Darts were two divisions higher than their Sussex County Division Two opponents and won 3-0
Five years ago and early Charlie Sheringham goal set Dartford on their way to a 2-0 league victory over Concord Rangers
Dartford have won six out of nine home games on 14 September
The first ever fixture on this day back in 1895 saw the Darts win a friendly 10-0 against Pickwicks

On Tuesday 3 September 2024 Councillor Elizabeth Daly, Chair of Mole Valley District Council (MVDC), formally opened Mole Valley’s two new Changing Places Toilets (CPTs)
located in the Swan Centre in Leatherhead and St Martin’s Walk car park in Dorking
CPTs are used by up to 250,000 people in the UK
to enable them to get out and about and enjoy the day-to-day activities that others take for granted
as well as space and appropriate equipment
for example a height adjustable changing bench
MVDC successfully applied for funding from the UK Government to enable the installations to take place, in response to a nationwide Changing Places campaign for such facilities to be installed in public venues
Thanks go to AM Noon and SHW Crawley for their help in completing the installations
MVDC Cabinet Member for Internal Services and Security (with responsibility for equalities)
said: “The new Changing Places Toilets will allow some of our most vulnerable and in-need residents to visit
shop and socialise in Dorking and Leatherhead
confident in the knowledge that they can use a toilet facility with dignity and comfort
This will allow families to plan days out without the worry of having to cut the trip short
allowing children with a wide range of abilities to enjoy the playground.”
said: “QEF is a disability charity based just outside Leatherhead and we are committed to enabling disabled children and adults to achieve their potential
so each person can live as independently as possible
Accessible facilities and changing facilities in particular are an important part of maintaining a person’s dignity and enabling independence
It is great to see these facilities available to disabled people living and visiting Leatherhead.”
said: “I was delighted to be invited to the opening ceremony for the Changing Places Toilet in the Swan Centre in Leatherhead on September 3rd 2024
Changing Places Toilets mean that those whose mobility is limited are able to use a toilet when they are visiting somewhere outside their home
The Grange Centre is pleased that Leatherhead now has a Changing Places Toilet in the town centre.”
said: “The changing places toilet will be such an asset to Dorking
spacious toilet for the less mobile disabled person.”
Councillor Keira Vyvyan-Robinson said: “I was delighted to see such high levels of engagement with the consultation process
it was important for us that residents and businesses from Leatherhead and its surrounding villages had the opportunity to have their say on these early concept proposals
The feedback gathered will be vital in helping shape the future of the development
Thank you to everyone who took the time to take part.”
In order to promote local shopping and the support of businesses across Mole Valley this Christmas season
Mole Valley District Council has announced three days of free parking in all council-owned car parks across Dorking
visitors to Mole Valley’s towns and villages can enjoy free parking all day to support a range of local shopping
this initiative aims to contribute towards the attraction of visitors to come and support an exciting 2024 Christmas scene across the district
The free parking period will cover 24 hours for all three of the dates in December and applies to all car parks owned and operated by Mole Valley District Council. Any charges paid through car park ticket machines during these three days will be donated to the Chairman’s Charity, the Amber Foundation
McCarthy Stone also plan improvements to the car park and landscaping the area to the front of the building
said: “The Claire House and James House project aims to create a landmark mixed-use riverside development that will improve the western gateway to the town and enhance the area around the River Mole
“The application marks the next step towards the regeneration of the area and enhancement of the riverside area
The Bees played a back three which consisted of Englehard
Regan Graver and Samantha Read with Chloe Webb and Maddie Phillips utilised as wing-backs
Kirsty Matthews partnered Nour Aboul Kheir in the central midfield positions whilst Nikki Woods played in behind Cheatley and Logie
It was a flying start from Brentford and it was all about new striker Cheatley who put the hosts ahead just six minutes in
The former Ashford Town forward used her pace to beat the Leatherhead defender before running onto the ball and finishing neatly into the bottom corner
Just two minutes late Cheatley was at it again
this time she cut inside from the left side of the box before curling the ball into the top right corner
The new arrival couldn’t be stopped and sealed her competitive debut hat-trick just 13 minutes in
Leatherhead had no answer to the Brentford onslaught and the Bees just kept coming in the opening half hour
and another summer arrival who was on the score sheet in Englehard
The defender caught the ball perfectly as she slammed home a volley following a clearance from a corner
Brentford continued to put on a fine display for the rest of the first half taking a convincing lead into the break
Cheatley could have had six goals in the opening half with the forward hitting the woodwork three times following her early flurry
The striker was back at it in the second half and could have made it 5-0 to Brentford but her left footed shot was well saved this time by the Leatherhead keeper
Logie was awarded a penalty on 56 minutes after the forward was tackled down inside the Leatherhead box
but the number nine’s spot kick was well saved by the Leatherhead keeper
Last season’s top scorer redeemed herself just five minutes later with a superb finish into the top right corner to make it 5-0
Leatherhead did manage to get themselves a goal when the Bees failed to clear their lines from a corner leaving Ava Devenport’s header to scurry over the line
The hosts comfortably controlled the remaining quarter of an hour of the match ensuring a convincing opening day victory
Brentford Women head coach Karleigh Osborne says he's happy with his side's performance in what was a great win over Leatherhead
