Many old friendships were revived as Llandrindod Wells Grammar School’s Class of ’66 met on Saturday, April 12 for a reunion. The event, held at the town’s Lakeside Café, marked the former students having a recent or imminent 70th birthday. More than two-thirds of 70-odd names were located, with around half attending, some accompanied by family members. International journeys were made from Colombia, South America and Paris, while UK attendees’ journeys ranged from Lakeside Avenue to Perth, Scotland. Following the three-hour reunion, many of the septuagenarians moved on to the town’s hot-spots to continue celebrating late into the night. warrant for her arrest not backed by bail The Heart of Wales Geopark will be conducting a guided walk in the Shaky Bridge area of Llandrindod Wells Walkers will be able to look at the geology with Joe Botting/Lucy Muir and archaeology with Julian Ravest on Monday the sequence of volcanic and sedimentary rocks up the hill and has the remains of two castles on the summit of the hill The landscape has also been shaped by the geology with hard volcanic rocks forming the high ground surrounded by geological faults that allowed the River Ithon to cut deeply around it It is a fascinating area with rich awarded a £269,050 grant to build a new and long-awaited skatepark in the town recently The money will come from the National Lottery and the council is now looking for additional funding opportunities to make up the shortfall and they are optimistic Planning permission for a replacement skate park was approved just before Christmas The town council said the project may be done in two phases The reinforced concrete park will replace the current old steel and timber half pipe facility on Princes Avenue which was installed in the early 2000’s and is a well-used facility The new skatepark has been designed to have a range of low to high-level ramps to aid in incremental skill progression along with a wide range of obstacle styles from street/plaza and a variety of transitions provide strategic oversight and support to the school in meeting its vision of being an inspiring nurturing and creative school that makes learning fun for all Mr Harper said the commitment is to attend the four main governing body meetings per year and there are additional committees that meet twice a year and governors with responsibilities who meet with staff leads twice per year He said there are also monitoring activities in school a couple of times a year Mr Harper said the meetings are usually held in the last week before the end of each term and one before October half term break to agree the responsibilities and committees and school development plan Councillor Thomas said he is still interested in the role but would like to chat to Mr Harper in the first instance Members
