Visiting friends in the outskirts of London
we decided to try Orpington Parkrun this morning
It was a beautiful sunny morning and we turned up and met Ashley the Run Director for today
There were plenty of other volunteers milling around and we hooked up with Sophie
Just before 9 am Simon briefed us about the course
There was also one fabulous runner celebrating 250 park runs – well done
We were all bunched up at the start and headed off around a small field which was well marked
We then turned annd passed all the lovely volunteers who were cheering us on and we headed out around the perimeter of the park
it was grassy with a spot of tarmac for a small section
The far side of the park had a lot of trees with big roots and this was the only time we really needed to watch ourselves
as falling over here would have been painful
we headed out for the final loop around the park
The finish funnel was in sight and all the volunteers were cheering and encouraging us for a speedy finish
Orpington Parkrun has been a wonderful day to start our weekend before visiting London
I can highly recommend this Parkrun as it is friendly and accommodating for all classes of runners
