The outline of the new storm tank has been marked in blue paint before excavation and construction begins
We are relocating an existing Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) and building a new underground storm water storage tank
Capable of holding nearly a million litres of water
storm flows will be redirected from overloaded sewers into the tank and stored until the weather subsides
The storm water will then be pumped back into the sewer network to flow to the waste water treatment works
A new upgraded surface water sewer has already been installed
The site compound has been set up on Barbours Park
The CSO will divert storm rainwater run-off during extreme weather to prevent the sewers backing up into homes and businesses
Discharges will only happen when the now-increased sewer reaches capacity and will be screened to protect the environment
a new upgraded surface water sewer has been installed along the adjacent street – also called Barbours Park
Work to relocate the CSO and build the new storage tank in Barbours Park began on the 3rd of February
During this time the entire park will be closed to the public
This is to ensure the safety of both the community and our workers
The park will be closed while the new storm tank is built
Excess surface water will drain into the nearby Annick Water
To build the new underground storm water storage tank Barbours Park will be closed for approximately two years from Monday 3 February 2025
new sewers have been installed along a short section of Bridgend to channel flows into the new tank
Stored water will eventually be pumped back into the sewer network and directed to the waste water treatment works
We appreciate this work may cause some inconvenience
We are committed to working closely with the community to minimise disruption and make the process as smooth as possible
TWO houses in a Scottish town are set to go up for auction at a bargain price - but there is a huge catch
The homes, located on Dunlop Road, in Stewarton, Ayrshire
are joined stone-built semi-detached cottages
And they are being sold by Auction House Scotland
who have offered a guide price of just £25,000
The firm explained that it is an exciting opportunity for anyone looking to snap up a home in the area for a cheap price
But there's a catch - both of the homes need a complete renovation
They are currently uninhabitable and are unsafe to view
The doors have also been smashed in, the radiators have been pulled from the walls and the flooring has been ripped up, with a huge mess left on the ground.
The kitchen has also been torn apart and in some of the bedrooms the brickwork and wooden beams in the walls are exposed.
The bathroom is also torn apart and the garden is an overgrown mess covered in rubbish.
It also has a shed which is full of piles of abandoned and broken bikes which will need to be cleared
While the first cottage has dirt and mess inside, the second home is full of clutter and will need to be cleared before any work could be carried out
someone with the ability to fix the problems and do the place up could turn it into a wonderful home
The descriptions on Auction House Scotland read: "Exciting opportunity to acquire two dilapidated stone built semi-detached cottages in a state of disrepair
"The property has excellent development potential subject to all of the relevant planning consents
and if bought together with the adjoining property offers a variety of possibilities
"Accessed via a gate just off of Dunlop Road
"The property could potentially be restored and refurbished
but if bought together with the adjoining property
the sizeable plot with extensive private driveway could allow for a larger scale residential development
all subject to relevant planning consents being passed"
it adds: "The accommodation mainly comprises reception hall
"Council Tax Band: C"
Chris Bye knows exactly how to add value to a property when renovating
While the description on the second one adds: "The accommodation mainly comprises reception hall
Auction House Scotland say: "Stewarton is a thriving town with a wide range of local amenities
"This includes independent shops, cafes, Sainsbury`s supermarket
and schooling at primary and secondary levels
"The M77 motorway link nearby offers an easy vehicular commute to Ayrshire

A new CSO and storm tank will be built beneath the park
Work on a Scottish Water multi-million-pound
multi-project package of investment to alleviate sewer flooding in Stewarton
From Monday 26 August 2024 the publicly owned utility will be setting up a site compound in Barbours Park where a new screened Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) and giant underground storage tank are to be built
The new CSO will divert storm rainwater run-off during extreme weather
a new upgraded surface water sewer will be installed along the adjacent street – also called Barbours Park - which will take approximately eight weeks
A new upgraded surface water sewer will be installed
Site investigations were carried out by the project team
Barbours Park is the first of four projects that have been co-ordinated for delivery to make the best use of resources and minimise disruption for residents and road users
Work to install the new CSO and storage tank in Barbours Park will begin in October 2024 and take approximately two years
Within the same timeframe Scottish Water will also deliver:
Flooding Manager at Scottish Water said: “These projects represent a significant investment
towards addressing historic sewer flooding in the town
“By taking an integrated approach and co-ordinating resources we are aiming to deliver these major projects with as little impact on the community as possible.”
The investment is part of Scottish Water’s £500million Improving Urban Waters Routemap to transform waste water systems to deliver environmental benefits
Lucy Broadie added: “We are investing record amounts – over £2.5billion in the past 10 years – to address the challenges of ageing infrastructure and climate change
stakeholders and communities we can meet these challenges head-on and make a real difference.”
Late-night hosts discuss chaos and lies in Donald Trump’s first 100 days in office
Late-night hosts delve into Donald Trump’s historically low poll numbers after his chaotic first 100 days in office
Jon Stewart appeared on The Daily Show with a cartoonishly long fake beard to signify 100 days of Donald Trump’s second administration “I am so tired,” he croaked. “It’s ageing this nation in Tom Hanks in Castaway years.”
Stewart then played a series of clips of the administration touting Trump’s second term as an unqualified success. “Suck it, Jefferson! Suck it, Lincoln! Suck it, Roosevelts squared,” he exclaimed. “Trump’s first 100 days is like if America landed on the moon and killed Bin Laden in the same mission! ‘Thought you could hide on the moon, Bin Laden? Get him, boys!’ According to Trump, the most successful 100 days in the history of our country. Can anyone offer a counterpoint?”
Counterpoint: a compilation of news clips outlining the chaos of the first 100 days, including economic volatility over Trump’s tariffs, outrage over Elon Musk’s “department of government efficiency” (Doge), and the lowest approval rating for a president in 80 years.
Herbert Hoover!” Stewart joked before clips of Trump claiming that the economy will “roar” when he takes office
Donald Trump did make a boom-boom,” Stewart said
“Perhaps Trump feels so positive because while the economy is headed south for most people
Stewart then dug into Trump’s bluster on the tariffs
including baseless claims that he made “over 200 deals” with different countries
“We’re in this position because we’ve been sold this idea of Trump as the master,” Stewart explained
“It took the people more than 250 years of striving to live up to a constitutional republic and rule of law
painstaking equity that you are squandering
That is the crux of American exceptionalism
and you are not the keeper of our pot of gold
the more that you turn our shining city on a hill into just another ordinary
On The Late Show, Stephen Colbert noted Trump’s favorability rating as low as 39%, the worst numbers since polling began. “I gotta believe that’s hard to hear,” he said. “Nothing Trump has done so far is particularly popular in any of these polls so far, but the thing that’s really dragging him down is his handling of the economy.
Colbert cited an ABC poll that found seven in 10 Americans thought the economy was “not so good” or “poor”. “The other 30% are either in a coma or in his cabinet. Or both,” he quipped.
Read moreAnother poll showed that only 35% of Americans approve of Elon Musk
Tesla’s income fell over 70% in the first quarter of the year
“You cannot buy that kind of marketing,” Colbert deadpanned
he will step back from the government and return to working with the company
he wants to be there personally at Tesla to offer all his most valued employees his sperm,” Colbert joked
Musk promised to cut $2tn from government spending
and only made a verifiable $63bn reduction in government spending
“But they’re hoping to shave off a couple more billion by making the Air Force switch to Kirkland Signature fighter jets,” Colbert joked
On Late Night, Seth Meyers mocked Democrats’ feckless response to the Trump administration
“What this administration is doing is an unprecedented constitutional crisis,” said Meyers
“like his repressive shakedown of college and universities
congressional Democrats sent Trump a “very strong letter just the other day” asking “eight very strong questions”
“Is this a constitutional crisis or Jane Austen novel?” Meyers laughed
“The guy doesn’t even read his presidential daily briefing – you think he’s sitting by the mailbox waiting for a letter from Chuck Schumer
If your neighbor is blasting house music at 2am
You pound on the fucking wall until he stops.”
Meyers mimicked Schumer: “We sent him a very strong letter with eight very strong questions
we’re going to say ‘Tsk tsk,’ and then we’re going to give him a D- on his report card
Meyers imagined Trump’s response that Schumer would never get: “Chuck
Guess it got messed up with the other mail
Gonna get back to you ASAP on all eight questions
as I could tell you took a lot of time with yours
and want to repay you with the same thoughtfulness and kind in the future
“To make sure your correspondence reaches me as quickly as possible,” he continued
“please make sure to wad them into a ball and stick them directly up your own ass
And in Los Angeles, Jimmy Kimmel poked fun at Trump wearing a blue suit to the pope’s funeral
had a collective aneurysm when Obama wore a tan suit to a press briefing,” Kimmel reminded
if Obama had worn a blue suit to the pope’s funeral
Sean Hannity’s head would’ve exploded inside Trump’s ass.”
Trump was asked if he had any plans for his wife Melania’s birthday while they were in Italy
He answered: “I’ll take her for dinner on the Boeing
I’ll take her for dinner on Air Force One … we’ve been pretty busy
and people are starting to see how good tariffs are for us.”
But nice work slipping the tariffs in there!” Kimmel laughed
What women wouldn’t want to celebrate her birthday in Italy with airplane food
watching her husband wolf down a 30-piece McNuggets and a liter of Diet Coke.”
