has announced the sale of Swanley Pharmacy in Kent
Built around You.Your expert business property advisers
Swanley Pharmacy is a standard-hours community pharmacy that dispenses an average of 10,000 items per month
It is located in Swanley Shopping Centre in the heart of the Kent town of Swanley
The pharmacy has been owned by Allcures Plc since 2015 and was brought to market as part of a strategic divestment
Following a confidential sales process with Mark Page at Christie & Co
While they already own a part-share in another pharmacy in South London
this is their first solo pharmacy purchase
The pair plans to improve the business’s services offering and increase the over-the-counter products available
“The sale of this busy community pharmacy demonstrates the demand from the independent market for corporate disposals
We received multiple offers for this volume pharmacy
which saw increased item numbers due to the recent closure of the neighbouring Boots Chemist in 2023
Mr and Mrs Patel are buying this growing pharmacy at an ideal time
and I’m sure they will add their personal touch
I wish them all the very best in their new venture.”
Swanley Pharmacy was sold for an undisclosed price

I’ve put my head about the parapet and am scribing this week’s event report – I do like an event report write-up although it does take me longer than doing the actual parkrun
I am theming this week’s report courtesy of the number 2
Tutu Day evidently had a draw for participants this week as eighty-five of you joined in and took part
the most here at Swanley since New Year's Day
And should you volunteer as well as participate
that’d be TWO things (multi-tasking at its finest – Another two in there!)
dotted around the course from start to finish
TWO of note: the parkwalkers and also Luke at the U-Turn down the trail having headed away from the park and the railway line to then head back again
As mentioned before event #165 was boosted in numbers and in part the twenty-four first timers certainly were a key contributor to that and I am going to name and shame as we had a participant
participating in a parkrun first and the tenuous link to the number 2
was particularly apt as Daniel even finished in position 22
registered a time of 21:22 whilst Alfie Peake
was the only participant to finish in the 22nd minute – AND Kelly Bailey was doing her 22nd parkrun - Are links to 22 being stretched a bit here…
did entice some from afar to test out the course
who was just showing off holding and using his Go-Pro (or similar device) recording his parkrun throughout as he went around the course
as these recordings give great insight to future attendance
Jamie is doing the Brighton marathon pretty soon
so I would like to take this opportunity to wish him luck
Parkrun is not only all inclusive to all abilities and styles of participating – It’s not about running despite the name; you can walk
parkruns has tailwalkers who will always see you home and
someone can always be there close by to help you – Another shout out to our hi-viz heroes
but it is open to all ages: Kenneth Grist showing that age is just a number representing the VM80-84 category
Evelyn Simpson and Jane Sivyer represented the VW65-69 age group
At the other end of the scale we had two under 10s
so a shout out to Zachary Burgum (JM10) and Lily Sharpe (JW10)
We did have two participants registered as ‘unknown’
Perhaps a good reminder to not forget your barcode
there are apps out there with it as a QR code
I have seen some have it printed on their running attire and perhaps a little extreme
Well done to EVERYONE who attended and took part whether as a participant
volunteer or a by-stander cheering us all on
“toot toot” (I promise you that is my last reference!)

This weekend we had 30 first-timers to Swanley with three people joining us for their first-ever parkrun
Australia and Swanley regular Jennie reached her 10th stint as volunteer
Harry and Hayley celebrated their 10th and 50th parkruns respectively with Jane who was running her 100th and shares her story below
I first noticed parkrun when my son sent a picture of himself at Auckland parkrun event during his yearlong stay in New Zealand in 2015
It looked fun and I fancied a bit of that myself
I was still tempted so I bought some trainers and kidded myself I could have a go
Then Christmas Eve 2016 I had my arm twisted into doing Dartford Park parkrun by said son and my youngest son's fiancée
It took forever and I could hardly walk for 3 days afterwards
having not really enjoyed the whole experience
but I got the running bug and did the Couch to 5k
then running 5k 3 times per week on my own for the next few years
mostly if we were away in our caravan and I enjoyed a bit of tourism
Not that I knew that was a thing as I wasn't really noticing what parkrun was doing
I still didn't really like running with so many people and got despondent if I was way back there
having been inspired to run by my running journey
was really enjoying parkrun and I was envious
Running kept me sane through the Covid years while working in the NHS as a Community Mental Health Nurse (but that's another story)
I was mentally and physically exhausted so decided something needed to change and maybe I could learn to love parkrun
I was still gathering my resolve so didn’t get to the first 3
but I've been a fairly consistent runner there ever since
I went from a strong dislike to a love of all things parkrun
Thank you to the amazing Swanley volunteers
A dad is convinced he spotted a 1.5m "lynx or jaguar" on the school run. Leandro Santos, 37, heard a yowling sound and noticed the birds were animated as he walked his daughter, seven, past a wooded area in Orpington on Tuesday (October 15)
The dad-of-two peered through the trees beside the school and says he saw a patterned big cat
He rushed his daughter to school before returning and watching the creature for around five minutes
"It was massive - I'd say 80 centimetres off the ground
"I'm originally from Brazil and if I saw this there I'd say it was a jaguar
At one point it looked directly at me - that was very frightening
"It was trying to get in to a birds nest but they were flying at it to keep it off
Some other birds joined in and I thought it would be safest to leave."
