The robins had a few chances throughout the game that they couldn’t convert
starting from James Ollis in the 30th minute where a 1 on 1 opportunity came by but a great save from Gosney parried an almost certain goal
The first chance of the afternoon came from the visitors with Ethan Taylor with the ball at his feet
but a poor cross over the stadium didn’t trouble the defence
with the same player tapping the ball in hopes of gaining the lead
as Totton scored once again just 2 minutes later from Thomas Blair with a wonder goal outside the 18-yard box
they went on to score from a corner lofted into the box
and Ethan Taylor nodded in his second of the game
The third goal came from Tony Lee with acres of space for a simple goal to add to his tally

The second half is underway with action plentiful

A MAIN route linking the New Forest with Southampton is set to close for more than a week for resurfacing
The A35 Totton Bypass will be inaccessible between 7th May and 16th May between 8pm and 6am as part of Hampshire County Council’s annual planned maintenance programme
The road will be open as normal outside of these hours
The council says the closure will allow it to carry out carriageway resurfacing works from Bartram Road to the east of the junction of High Street
A signed diversion route will be in place which takes drivers on the A36 and then A326

If the league table was based solely on away matches
the Robins would currently find themselves in the top half
and it is their poor record at Badgers Hill which has brought about a swift return to Step Four
They have the chance on Saturday to end the campaign on a high with the visit of promotion chasing AFC Totton who are already assured of the runners-up spot
a position they have permanently occupied since early December
It will be interesting to see how the Stags approach this end-of-season encounter
With a midweek home play-off semi-final against either Dorchester or Havant & Waterlooville to come
will they rest key personnel or go full tilt in preparation for a huge promotion clash or perhaps something in between
Home form has not been a problem at all for Totton
boasting the only unbeaten record so Frome’s hard-earned 1-1 draw at The Snows Stadium back in January can be considered a tremendous result

The Scarlet Runners began the season with four straight home losses and have suffered the same sorry fate in their last four Badgers Hill fixtures
It would mean a lot to the faithful fans (average home league gates are still over the 500 mark) to see that run broken and
if the level of performance of the Easter encounters with Dorchester and Plymouth Parkway is anything to go by

New Forest District Council is seeking a consultant for a new framework to transform Totton town centre in Hampshire [Deadline: 10 January 2025]
The winning team selected for the estimated £100,000-to-£150,000 contract will create a framework masterplan and investment plan to transform the central area of the town located on the eastern banks of the River Test
The study will identify a range of measures to upgrade the town centre which forms a key gateway to the New Forest but has seen limited transformation since the 1970s
Key aims include introducing new housing and innovation spaces
In its brief the council says it wants to appoint ‘an appropriately qualified contractor to prepare a framework masterplan and investment plan for Totton town centre
‘The document will consider the current strengths and weaknesses of Totton and propose interventions which will help transform it into a vibrant town centre going forward
‘This will include looking at key sites and existing land uses which currently do not meet their potential and producing a robust plan to support the Totton Partnership's desire for change
the chosen contractor will need to produce a costed investment plan with proposed phasing to assist the partnership in making the case for future funding.’
Totton is a small town of around 28,000 residents on the eastern edge of the New Forest close to Southampton
Key issues affecting the quality of the town centre include a lack of connection to the waterfront and north-south severance caused by rail lines and major highways
Bids for the latest commission will be evaluated 70 per cent on quality and 30 per cent on price
Applicants must hold employer’s liability insurance of £10 million
public liability insurance of £10 million and professional indemnity insurance of £2 million

A WOMAN whose dog bit a child twice causing serious facial injuries has been sentenced in court
Kelly Horton (33) of Mortimer Close in Totton previously admitted allowing the Staffordshire bull terrier-cross
to be dangerously out of control at her home last July
Southampton Crown Court heard a friend of mother-of-three Horton had been visiting the property with her two-year-old child
Prosecutor James Kellam said the incident happened as Horton cooked pizza for her guests
Mr Kellam explained that while it was “not crystal clear” what had happened
it appeared Diesel had tried to take some food that was being passed to the child
She was rushed to hospital and needed treatment for her injuries by a surgeon
The court heard Diesel was seized and examined by a dog behaviourist
who noted he had previously undergone colon surgery
which led to difficulties digesting food and made him underweight
stealing an “entire packet of dog treats” from her during her observations
Ms Horton’s ownership of the dog was “inappropriate” and it was not recommended that he was returned to her
The court heard Diesel was taken for walks only weekly
but given more “substantial” exercise monthly in a field rented by the defendant where he could run off lead
Horton described the attack as “an accident”
the victim’s mother told the court the attack was “incredibly unexpected”
adding: “The dog lunged at her; it happened so fast
“I have never heard her scream like that – I was so scared
She should have been safe in [Horton’s] house.”
The statement said the mother initially feared the child could have been killed
then that she might lose an eye due to the injuries
which the court heard were now “healing well”
She had changed from “a very happy girl” who loved playing to being “clingy”
but I am hoping with her age being so young it will soon fade.”
Emily Lanham said there had been “a momentary lapse of control” of the dog
Horton was said to be “absolutely devastated and incredibly remorseful”
particularly as the attack had been on her close friend’s daughter
and her children had changed schools after threats within the community
This was “particularly devastating” for Horton as her home had been where her late daughter had passed away
and where “a lot of memories were left behind”
Ms Lanham maintained Diesel had been walked twice a week
but that Horton was acting on advice from her vet as he was recovering from surgery three to four months earlier
Ms Lanham added: “She began to reintroduce food as he was demonstrating a much greater appetite
but due to the surgery she could not feed him as often as perhaps Diesel would have liked
but she did so under the advice of the vet
“She was doing everything in her power to properly look after the dog.”
The dog had previously scratched one of her own children
which was put down to it being a “boisterous” puppy that often jumped up and “had a lot of energy”
Ms Lanham said the child had “frequently” been to the home and around the dog without issue
The dog had not been assessed as being inherently dangerous
Judge Christopher Parker KC handed Horton a 12-month prison sentence
and ordered she carry out 150 hours of unpaid work
there was a complete lack of safety measures in a situation when an incident of this nature was entirely foreseeable
boisterous dog in close proximity to a young child
She suffered serious facial injuries and has scaring as a result of what your dog did
I also accept you are regretful and that you have ongoing consequences as a result.”
Referencing the incident in which Diesel had previously scratched her child
he added: “That should have been a warning to you about what might happen.”
Horton was also banned from keeping dogs for five years
