Cardiff Capital Region is a regional body (also known as a Corporate Joint Committee) made up of the 10 councils across South East Wales
We’ve been working together successfully as a partnership since 2017
Our investments and wider activity has already created and safeguarded more than 3,000 jobs across our region; we’ve supported over 200 businesses and invested millions in our Metro transport system
CCR
a new Joint Venture that is acquiring the site
which once paid back will be reinvested within the Region
is being used for site acquisition of the 168,244 sq ft premises in Crown Business Park
The refurbishment will improve the environmental performance of the premises and will introduce on-site renewables in the form of rooftop solar panels and a 250KW wind turbine. The new owner of the site is also contributing funds alongside CCR’s investment
“CBRE Lending has its roots in impact fund lending, and so is particularly proud of the benefit to the region that is being achieved with this investment by the Cardiff Capital Region Strategic Premises Fund
The transaction demonstrates the value of strategic lending in job preservation
skills development and driving sustainable improvements – a core principle of CBRE Lending’s approach.”
Leader of Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council and Portfolio Lead for the Strategic Premises Fund
I am hugely encouraged that this Blaenau Gwent-based site is a recipient of our Strategic Premises Fund. A core commitment and priority of CCR is our drive for sustainable growth, job creation and talent retention within the region, and this investment delivers on all of these objectives.”

Tredegar Band has announced the death of its popular and respected baritone player Jonathan Bound
Tredegar Band is mourning the loss of its baritone player Jonathan Bound
The 48-year-old passed away unexpectedly over the weekend
A major part of the band's success since 2007
he combined a hugely successful professional career as a Director of the accountancy firm Pricewaterhouse Coopers alongside his passion for brass banding and Formula 1 racing
He had returned from a trip to enjoy the recent Grand Prix in Texas to take part in the band's concert performance in Swansea
The band was informed of his passing at rehearsal on Monday evening
The Oxford University physics graduate was one of Ian Porthouse's first signings
and soon became an integral part in its success both on and off the concert and contest platform as a player and band treasurer
A band spokesperson told 4BR: "His passing has come as a huge shock
Jon was equally at home enjoying his playing on second baritone or sorting out the many financial challenges of running a top level band
He was held in great respect professionally and huge affection personally."
Tredegar MD Ian Porthouse told 4BR: "Jon was one of the first people I brought to the band and his value as a player and an administrator quickly became obvious
Given his professional career his dedication and commitment to Tredegar Band was huge
and I for one will always be grateful for his clear thinking in stressful situations
Ian added: "Jon was also immensely popular with everyone in the Welsh banding community and the life and soul of any party
His contributions from cowbell playing and very occasional vocalist to being able to plan the financial future for the band made him invaluable
Our thoughts are now with his extended family who have lost a beloved son
The band stated that it is thankful for all the messages of condolences and support which will also be passed on to the family

Brighouse & Rastrick Band are looking forward to home and away fixtures featuring top Welsh band Tredegar Town Band
The two bands are well acquainted having met many times over their long histories and are looking forward to performing concerts together at Huddersfield Town Hall on Saturday March 29 and in Newtown
B&R president Stephen Howes said: “Although we meet Tredegar at contests up and down the country this will be a friendly encounter
“Our two bands met last year at the European Brass Band Championships in Palanga
“There will be no rivalry on this occasion and both bands are in good shape and will showcase ensemble and solo pieces on the theme of ‘Springtime Celebration.’”
The Huddersfield concert is the next in B&R’s long-established series of Massed Bands Concerts
Stephen added: “Tredegar are a very highly regarded band and have held the title of Welsh Champions 11 times
“It is 12 years since their last appearance with us so this joint venture is long overdue
We are delighted with the programme of musical favourites selected by Tredegar’s musical director
Concert goers will be treated to an array of favourites to reflect the theme and backgrounds of the two bands including Men of Harlech
the stirring Welsh march arranged by Gordon Langford; The Shepherd’s Song
a beautiful pastoral piece arranged by Goff Richards; Blackbird
Paul McCartney’s timeless classic with a unique brass band twist; and All in the April Evening
Works by Johann Strauss II and Franz von Suppé bring grandeur and elegance to the evening
All in all it’s a rare musical collaboration between two of the UK’s finest brass bands
Tickets are on sale through the normal Kirklees outlets at Huddersfield and Dewsbury town halls, Huddersfield Central Library, by telephoning 01484 225755 or online at www.kirkleestownhalls.co.uk
