Portfolio Holder for Environment and Leisure
said it was fantastic to see the final phase of Warsop Health Hub coming to fruition
He said: “It’s great to see these trees being planted as part of the Warsop Health Hub project
Not only do they enhance the local environment and create habitats for wildlife
“This is a wonderful step in making Warsop a better and healthier place to live
and I’m delighted that local children have been involved in leaving such a positive legacy for generations to come."
The £9.1 million Warsop Health Hub was officially opened in June this year and is home to a swimming pool
The hub is the first of its kind under Sports England’s local leisure model
with the aim to provide affordable facilities in a local community
The project at Warsop has seen a variety of tree species planted
The council has worked with the trust for more than a year
proactively planting more than 3,000 trees around the district to create climate-combatting woodlands
added: “This is yet another excellent project where we have been able to work in partnership with the council
“Tree planting is all about creating good working relationships and we have this in abundance with Mansfield
Working together we are able to get lots of trees in the ground
with the help of children and the local community
and this is all part of the Trees for Life programme
which is funded by DEFRA (Department for the Environment
Warsop Health Hub has launched a free to attend night-time walking club to show its backing for This Girl Can’s (TGC) Let’s Lift the Curfew campaign
It aims to highlight the fact that almost 75% of women alter their outdoor activity routines during the winter months
Recent research from TGC has shown that around one in four (24%) women ensure they take well-lit routes
almost a quarter (23%) avoid certain areas altogether and one in five (20%) glance behind them to ensure they’re not being followed
which operates the centre in partnership with Serco Leisure
said: “It’s important that people ae able to stay active whatever the time of year
Dark nights should not mean women or men have to miss out on the many benefits of outdoor exercising
“To show our support for the Let’s Lift the Curfew campaign
which will set off each Thursday at 4.30pm from our reception
The session will be led by a member of our fitness team
with the group walking one lap around the Carr Lane Park
We’ll also be providing torches and glow sticks for all walkers
“Although we are aiming this primarily at women
if there are any men who’d like to take part each week
we’ll be laying on coffee or water for everyone!”
said: “We know that feeling safe and supported while exercising is essential in our communities
and this initiative provides a fantastic opportunity for women to stay active
“Encouraging more people to lead happy and healthy lifestyles is a priority for us
and links perfectly with the ethos of the Warsop Health Hub
I am proud we have a space where our communities can connect
and experience the physical and mental health benefits of regular exercise
“I encourage everyone to come along and get involved.”

Strong economic growth and future prosperity hinges on the ability of everyone in society to access financial services

The payments software company has artificial intelligence delivering efficiencies in several areas of its business
ACI Worldwide has deployed artificial intelligence across its business so it can better service clients and streamline its own business development
the payments technology company is keeping humans in the loop and on the look-out for AI hiccups that can be stumbling blocks
In a December interview focused on trends for next year
Warsop discussed the deployment of AI at ACI and how it’s working out for the Elkhorn
Editor’s note: This interview has been edited for clarity and brevity
PAYMENTS DIVE: What’s your take on how AI will make a difference in 2025
And let me give you the three use cases that our company is finding most valuable for AI
Number one is customer service: We're able to use AI
and particularly generative AI large language models
to make customer service representatives more efficient and more effective
[workers] who have been around a long time
so they can answer customers’ questions faster
And a new customer service representative gets productive much faster...the way we've done this is we put every piece of documentation
every question that a customer has ever asked and we've answered — we put all of that into our own proprietary instance of a well-known large language model
and we’ve trained them up with all that data
the model immediately shows these are the most likely reasons they're asking
How many customer service representatives does ACI have worldwide
I hear you saying your employees are faster
but if they're faster with the wrong answers
how do you monitor to make sure you have quality assurance with your use of AI
we are the owners of the data that we're training this model with
We know this data is correct because we created it...so you have much less chance of hallucination
[Warsop explained AI hallucination to mean those instances when “large language models lie
they make up answers because they want to give you an answer
and so the second point is equally important
which is that we are not believers in 100 percent AI-driven anything
What we do is we always have a human in the loop
what that means is the human is providing the answer to the customer
even the very early stage customer service reps
to know...whether what the AI presented is correct or not
The third way is fraud detection and prevention
and we've been using AI for almost three decades to make our solutions better
and it's powerful because you can find these patterns and much quicker and more effectively using using AI
And this is true for any large language model
any machine learning as well: The more data you get
and the more likely you are to get an answer that is useful

A £9.1 million health hub has officially opened its doors to the public
was officially opened by the Executive Mayor of Mansfield and local community champion Graham Hall
at a ribbon-cutting ceremony yesterday (18 June)
Also in attendance at the event was Tour of Britain cyclist Ross Lamb
as well as Mansfield Harriers representatives
The hub is now home to various new facilities
including a 15 x 8-metre swimming pool and splash play area
the newly tarmacked multi-use games area to play sports outdoors is now open to residents
The delivery of the council’s £9.1 million health hub was made possible thanks to funding agreements secured from various partners and agencies
This includes up to £5 million from the council
a £1.8 million capital grant from Sport England
a £3 million allocation from the Government’s Towns Fund
Communities and Local Government to create a dedicated changing place within the building
said: “I am thrilled that we are finally at the opening event for Warsop Health Hub
it has been a dream come true to see such progress being made to bring a community facility to the people of Warsop
“It has been a labour of love and wouldn’t have been possible without the commitment from fellow councillors
“I look forward to seeing the community embrace the new facility and make the most of all the opportunities it will bring in terms of employment
The hub is now operated by Serco Leisure/More Leisure Community Trust (MLCT)
who are also responsible for the council’s three other leisure facility sites in Mansfield: Rebecca Adlington
A range of programmes to suit all ages and abilities has been developed to encourage residents in Warsop and beyond to get involved and use the new facility. The full programme can be viewed at www.mansfieldleisure.com/warsop-health-hub (opens in new window)
we’re very proud to have been chosen to operate this fantastic new facility
which offers such a broad range of fitness
wellbeing and community-focused amenities for the people of this region.”
To ensure the long-term sustainability of the new centre
solar panels have been installed along with a new detention basin as part of Severn Trent’s Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) programme
The water company partnered with the council to divert the existing car park surface water out of its combined sewer network and into sustainable drainage
meaning all future rainfall will be recycled and used again within the SuDs system
The hub is just one of five projects funded from the £12.3m awarded to Mansfield District Council in 2021 from the Towns Fund allocation
The health hub project came about through residents stepping forward
and discussing their and the parish’s needs in 2019—a study that Sport England jointly funded with the council to review leisure and community provision
The outcome was a list of suggestions and ideas that would lead to the right mix of activities
and facilities to meet the community’s needs
Executive Director of Place at Sport England
added: “Uniting the Movement wants to support all people to take part in sport and physical activity
“The Warsop Health Hub provides so many ways for local people of all ages and abilities to get active and connect to their community
It’s the first facility to open following our ‘Leisure Local concept’ – co-created with the local community with a wide range of facilities available and also including measures to make it as environmentally sustainable as possible
