There was enthusiasm at West Ham when Graham Potter replaced Julen Lopetegui in January
There is no hiding that there were understandable concerns among some about the fact Potter had been out of the game for nearly two years
But many felt things could not get any worse than they already were under Lopetegui
Potter took over the Hammers when they were 13th in the Premier League table
They also had an FA Cup third round clash at Aston Villa to come
West Ham actually played well at Villa despite Potter having only taken one training session
But injuries saw the Irons surrender a 1-0 lead slip to drop out at the first hurdle
While it would be somewhat harsh to attribute that defeat to Potter given he had only just taken over
concerns over what has followed since are legitimate
West Ham have won just three of Potter’s 16 matches in charge and have regressed to 17th in the table
Had it been a more competitive Premier League season
the Hammers would find themselves in a dogfight to stay up with three games to go
Given the club’s dismal form is not unique to Potter’s spell
it is clear the issues are not all down to the Englishman
The side has won just 13 of of the last 54 league games since January 2024
That’s under three managers and with a turnaround of 22 players
But clearly things have not improved at all in terms of results – and many would argue performances – since Potter’s arrival
West Ham could not beat Tottenham’s reserve side – which contained eight changes – as they drew 1-1 at the London Stadium
The underwhelming display and result was made worse due to the fact Spurs’ second string looked like they were more concerned with avoiding getting injured and not being involved in a potential Europa League final than beating West Ham
Jarrod Bowen once again pulled West Ham out of the fire
Many Hammers fans feel their 49-year-old boss should be doing better with the squad he has at his disposal
Wolves boss Vitor Pereira is proving a manager can work with someone else’s players to get results in a similar timeframe
And the issues at Wolves were arguably far worse than at West Ham
When majority owner David Sullivan was in talks to appoint Potter
he originally wanted to hand him a six-month deal which would be reviewed at the end of the season and
Some supporters are arguing Potter needs the summer window to change the team and some grace until next season
But the big concern is the lack of uplift thus far and backing yet another manager many have doubts over with such a pivotal rebuild
One look at fan forums and social media makes it clear the faction of West Ham fans who think Potter is the wrong choice and must be replaced this summer is growing
Now the West Ham board have responded to some fans calling for Potter to be axed
Hammers News put it to the owners that there was a growing number of fans calling for Potter to be sacked
The point was also raised over whether it would be wise to let the former Chelsea boss rebuild the squad when he has struggled to make an impact in his near half a season in charge
But as far as Sullivan, Karren Brady and the rest of the Hammers board are concerned
Because they have thrown their unequivocal backing behind Potter
“We still 100 per cent believe in him,” West Ham’s owners exclusively told Hammers News in a short
West Ham’s fixtures to end the season don’t look too appealing
Man United away is never easy for West Ham regardless of how bad a shape they are in
Norttingham Forest are chasing down a Champions League spot
And already relegated Ipswich will be fired up at home for the final game of the season to ensure they don’t bow out of the Premier League with a whimper
The response of West Ham’s owners appears to suggest Potter will definitely remain in place even if his struggles continue through to the summer
It is good to see the club taking a stand about the manager either way
West Ham fans will just be hoping it is the right call ahead of one of the most important summer transfer windows in the club’s recent history
Hidden deep amongst the management-speak and the positive bites that Graham Potter likes to produce for the press was a pretty plain admission of defeat in trying to coach the players in the direction he wants
The West Ham manager is the subject of a lengthy bank holiday report today in which he describes the effect in his family life of the stresses of this West Ham United challenge
Referring to the Brighton turnaround when the team turned victory into defeat in the last few minutes
Potter described how hard it hits him and how tough it is (as we know!) to get over it:
“..the notion that you can just have an experience like that and then just be alright with people. It just doesn’t work. I just can’t do it,. It takes time to get it out of your system” – he told the nytimes.com/athletic in their article today ‘Is Graham Potter under Pressure’
So, admitting that he can’t change them so they will be on their way – hints at seismic change. Whether it will be for the better, time will tell. Could it get worse? Hardly. There’s a cohort of Hammers youngsters ready to step up in any case ,who will add youth, mobility and passion for the shirt – all of which have been lacking this season.
From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970.. Don't take my comments too seriously, imagine we are having a chat at half time over a pint at L S and "let's disagree without falling out".
Which specific players is he talking about ?
Paqueta seems to me likely to be one, it has always seemed to me that he’s just as likely to do something disastrous as to do something gifted that leads to a goal.
Kilman ? Mavropanos ? Both seem to have an error inbuilt.
Kudus ? He looks like a headless chicken at times.
JWP ? Sideways, backwards, anything but forwards.
All of those things you would think to be coachable but hasn’t happened. Maybe you bring in a temporary coach to rule that out as being a factor before chopping and changing players worth many millions.
Correct. Championship and league 1 is nowhere near Premier League level requirements in terms of technique, stamina, pace, strength and quick thinking. Earthy and Potts are still not at that level imo although might be able to step up as squad options with sub appearances next season. Thats the best we can hope for.
We need to unearth some young, strong athletes that are not on the radar of most clubs ( very hard )

Jarrod Bowen now has three goals in his past five Premier League appearances
West Ham captain Jarrod Bowen scored his 10th Premier League goal of the season as they shared the points with Tottenham in a meeting between two massively underperforming sides
Both had very little riding on this fixture and it showed as the 17th-placed Hammers could not overtake their London rivals in the table after a tame derby
Ange Postecoglou made eight changes to the Tottenham side that defeated Bodo/Glimt 3-1 in Thursday's Europa League semi-final first leg
the Australian's focus was firmly on ending a dismal season on a high by winning that competition and reaching the Champions League next season
Spurs had Max Kilman to thank for gifting them the 15th-minute opener as Mathys Tel nicked the ball from the Hammers defender and squared for the unmarked Wilson Odobert to pick his spot and claim his first league goal for Spurs
But Bowen levelled 13 minutes later when he ran on to a through-ball from Aaron Wan-Bissaka and smartly finished through the legs of Spurs goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario to restore parity
It was the West Ham captain's third goal in five games in an impressive scoring run
Richarlison then found himself in a promising position at the other end
but decided to go for a pass across the goal when the chance of a shot was on
Chances were few and far between in the second half
but the hosts could have claimed all three points at London Stadium in the closing stages
rescued Tottenham by producing a stunning save to keep out Bowen's glancing header from a James Ward-Prowse free-kick with eight minutes remaining
The boys put in a good shift - Postecoglou
This game was always going to be a mere footnote for Tottenham in their current circumstances as the season draws to a close
They are two games away from winning their first silverware since 2008 in the Europa League
despite their worst season domestically since 1976-77
They had almost put on a perfect performance against Bodo/Glimt in midweek
but a late goal from the visitors kept the last-four tie alive
And with a difficult outing on the artificial pitch in Norway to follow on Thursday
it was not surprising Postecoglou rang the changes with his team selection and Spurs failed to click
Yves Bissouma and Richarlison kept their spots in the starting line-up as Dominic Solanke and James Maddison
Postecoglou will be relieved his side negotiated a late West Ham rally and avoided a record 20th Premier League defeat of the season after only having two of their seven shots on target and generating an expected goals of just 0.48
Aston Villa and Brighton to play in the league but
Postecoglou will hope he also has a Europa League title showdown with either Manchester United or Athletic Club to come on 21 May
Decent performance but West Ham couldn't sustain it - Potter
West Ham manager Graham Potter was desperately looking for a first win in eight games here - and almost got it
The home side were on top after the interval with Bowen going close with a volley early while Niclas Fullkrug, back in the starting line-up after his scathing remarks on his team-mates following a disappointing draw with Southampton two weeks ago
failed to keep his header down with less than 20 minutes to go
Bowen was again their standout player and their best chance unsurprisingly fell to their skipper who had his header kept out by Vicario
before Ward-Prowse failed to get his free-kick on target in second-half stoppage time
Potter will still need to make improvements to keep the Hammers faithful by his side for the next season
After replacing Julen Lopetegui in January
the former Brighton and Chelsea boss has only collected 14 points in 15 matches and they are fourth bottom
three places below where his predecessor left the club
They will hope to climb up the table with meetings against Manchester United
West Ham and Ipswich Town completing a below-par season

Back in December articles were written recommending that West Ham’s loan players should be recalled to the club as a matter of urgency. James Ward-Prowse returned simply because Nottingham Forest didn’t need him and West Ham felt it pointless leaving him at a club where he was just kicking his heels
Several Claret and Hugh readers suggested that young loanees Freddie Potts and George Earthy should be left at their loan clubs away from, and unaffected by, the turmoil taking place at London Stadium. At that time I disagreed with them, arguing that West Ham’s midfield was so poor that the two could contribute to the Hammers’ resurgence
Potts’ classy Instagram message to Pompey fans is a mark of his maturity: “I am grateful to have learnt so much throughout the season
with experiences that I will look back on with pride and that I will never forget
This club is a special club that is only on the rise and I wish everyone at Portsmouth nothing but the best in the future
Potts will be welcomed back with open arms to London Stadium and looking to fight his way into the new-look West Ham midfield during the summer
From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970.
imagine we are having a chat at half time over a pint at L S and "let's disagree without falling out"
Potts is realistically the only youngster who might be ready for the PL
I would happily be proven wrong but I think next season might be a bit too soon for Earthy
Reading a few bits and pieces seems like a lot of the youngsters are from West Ham families so they would at least give one hundred percent each week
You couldn’t say the same for a lot of our players this season
cant potts play for us this season as portsmouths season is now over
Freddie Potts is the new Declan Rice; there is no doubt in my mind about that

First, some context. Lucas Paqueta walked out of the London Stadium tunnel for Sunday’s draw with Tottenham holding the hands of his two sons, Benicio and Filippo. They wore West Ham shirts with ‘Daddy’ and ‘10’ on their backs
It was arranged as a treat for Filippo after turning four
Tomas Soucek gave him a high five as they were lining up
filmed it all on her phone like a proud mum would
and regardless of your opinion on the 27-year-old Brazilian and the spot-fixing accusations aimed at him via the FA
it may explain why this match carried an extra emotional edge for him
Mail Sport revealed on April 1 how Paqueta was struggling to bear the burden of his betting trial
sources stressing how taxing it was on him
He has received 29 yellow cards since it was revealed the FA were investigating him
or rather 29 overt reminders of the alleged offence which could yet rob him of his career as the footballer accused of being booked on purpose
that flash of yellow never penetrating his psyche
Mail Sport has mentioned previously how West Ham insiders have praised his professionalism
for never bringing his baggage into training or indeed games
Lucas Paqueta broke down in tears after being booked in West Ham's draw with Tottenham
The West Ham midfielder is still facing spot-fixing accusations which the FA are investigating
Maria Eduarda Fournier shared an emotional statement on social media as she expressed a desire for her husband to be shown more respect
We are told Bowen checked on him further in the confines of the changing room
though disappointed to have only drawn with a second-string Tottenham side
She released a statement describing the last two years as a ‘nightmare’ for her husband
and West Ham sources say they suspect the events of the last few weeks may have contributed to what we saw on Sunday
Insiders say Paqueta mentally built himself up for his trial
He believed it would last no longer than three weeks and then confirmation would come that he did not do what the FA are claiming
the scale of the evidence being evaluated meant it was not concluded by the end of its allotted three-week timeframe
Mail Sport has been told it will be resuming this month but on varying dates when the tribunal members
It means Paqueta’s hell is being prolonged
and he is approaching a summer in which his life could be further turned upside down if he is found guilty
One senior source at West Ham claimed there has been ‘zero account taken of the mental stress on him and his family’ when contacted
We do not know if Paqueta is guilty or innocent
He himself does not know which verdict will be reached
Those involved in the case say there have been 'good days and bad days' but they are still none the wiser as to how it will end
Paqueta has been fighting to prove he is innocent of picking up yellow cards on purpose during games to influence betting outcomes but faces a lifetime ban if he is found guilty by the panel
West Ham team-mate Jarrod Bowen quickly rushed to Paqueta's side against Tottenham
Paqueta's wife said on Sunday night that they have been 'living this nightmare for two years'
West Ham insiders fear the odds are stacked against them due to the standard of proof being based on a ‘balance of probabilities’ as opposed to the more rigorous ‘beyond a reasonable doubt’
The club have never pressured Paqueta to play for them while all this is ongoing
They have always allowed him to have the final say on whether he feels mentally prepared
we witnessed a human being appearing to buckle under the weight of the last two years
and Paqueta can only hope the FA do not get their way in preventing him from walking on to a pitch with Benicio and Filippo again

West Ham watchers will have noticed a shift in reported targets ahead of the summer transfer window. Since Claret and Hugh wrote the articles concerning the club being snubbed by exciting prospects like Ezechiel Banzuzi and Angel Gomes
the headline-making new recruit stories have tailed off
to be replaced with the harsh reality of trying to attract new talent as the worst-placed survivor in the league
A month ago the Hammers were linked with hugely talented Caoimhín Kelleher
Liverpool’s second choice ‘keeper who wants to move to a Premier League side where he will get guaranteed game time
As the reality of Potter’s drab Premier League survivors’ style and underachievement bites, the club look less and less enticing for anyone other than the waifs, strays and survivors themselves: Hence footballfancast.com’s article – however enticingly it is titled as: “West Ham now leading race to sign new 26 y/o star as Irons ready £20m bid”
Is actually the uninspiring link between the Hammers and relegated ‘keeper Aaron Ramsdale
“West Ham are now leading the race to sign Aaron Ramsdale ahead of Newcastle United and are preparing an offer worth €23m (£20m) this summer.”
I’m sure Ramsdale once was a keeper of merit but it is a depressing reality check on the ‘pulling power’ of this West Ham ship under Captain Potter
likely to become the ‘new normal’ at West Ham and the recurring theme of the whole summer window
‘Fancast’ again:”One way that the Hammers could avoid the frustration of missing out on top targets whilst matching their ambitions is signing relegated stars”
Forgive me for not being awash with excitement at the prospect of THAT
Westham have priority signings to make and that’s not a goal keeper
Last summer the priority was striker and instead of securing Duran for 45 million
blew 25 million on an unproven kid and 25 million on an injury prone OG
Steidten and Sullivan a recipe for disaster
Only Wan Bissaka has proven to be a good signing
Potter has no idea of who a good player is in part because that’s never been his job
Everything about Westham is obsolete and consequently there’s a grave threat of multiple relegations until such time that that competent new owners take over the club
Some of our best players through the years have come from the next tier down
Conversely some of our worst players have been so called “stars” from the top leagues
A lot of championship players can be premier league ready from playing in (arguably) the toughest league in the world
so in a roundabout way our position may favour us
Ramsdale was/is an England international who had a mental health issue whilst being starter for a Champions league team
He’s not played badly at Saints and still in and around the England setup
He might value working with Potter because of his background in psychology
I’d say the new normal is terrible neggy articles on this website
Ramsdale was a top keeper at arsenal why he signed for Southampton is beyond me so long as we bring in decent defenders than ramsdale will be a top keeper again at Southampton their results would have had a lot more goals scored against them I for one would be happy to have ramsdale as our main keeper
Ramsdale is still an upgrade and a good age
West Ham United drew 1-1 with Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday as the Hammers wind up their Premier League season and Spurs look towards what they hope will be a Europa League final
Lucas Paquetá picked up a yellow card and that prompted an emotional reaction from the Brazilian midfielder
He was taken off just after 70 minutes and replaced by James Ward-Prowse
and it was that emotional reaction which was the story of his match
where there’s been quite some sympathy with the midfielder as he awaits trial for allegedly picking up yellow cards to help people close to him win bets
Whilst there’s been talk of a potential life ban if found guilty of the offences
in Brazil there’s even been suggestions a club there could ignore any ban
That sounds unlikely and remains to be seen, but O Dia quote the player’s wife after she took to social media to support him
is quoted as saying: “We have been living this nightmare for two years and he is still strong… He always had it in his head that he would only defend himself at the right time and place
“My husband has a posture and strength that I admire and that impress me
People are mean and unfair without knowing anything.”
Football can be brutal. The speed with which players can go from ‘hero to zero’ is breathtaking and careers are made or broken in weeks, sometimes in one game. West Ham have their fair share of high flyers who’ve crashed to earth in the space of a few weeks
Recruited by Tim Steidten and famously pictured on the executive jet being hand-delivered to London Stadium
Alvarez was feted as the Declan Rice replacement having been brought in with the Arsenal cash received from the West Ham skipper’s sale to the Gunners
Initially Alvarez seemed to perform well – a regular if somewhat fiery addition to the Hammers midfield it all seemed to go wrong for ‘El Machin’ last summer when he was injured whilst on international duty
Alvarez arrived in London to Hammers’ fans acclaim
His pace seemed to disappear and from last summer onward he was always just a little behind the game: It probably accounts for this huge accumulation of yellow and red cards notably early last season under Lopetegui
the low point being his second yellow for scything down Mohammed Salah in the League Cup tie
The incident appeared to unfold in slow motion as Hammers fans looked on in horror
knowing what was coming and unable to stop the inevitable
Bad tackles and frequent yellow cards followed as Alvarez was reported as one of the ‘Lopetegui want-aways’ last Autumn
Such is his standing now that whilst he trains
and is obviously fit – he’s in the ‘West Ham prepare for Spurs’ training gallery from Friday – so he’s apparently got over the claimed ‘back niggle’ which kept him out of the squad for the previous two games: Potter just chooses to leave him out of the match day squad so the Mexico International team Captain doesn’t even make the bench
He is clearly destined to be sold: Having been linked in April with amazingly
a move across London or a Bundesliga move next month
it’s pretty clear there is no way back for the Mexican now
But for that he’d still be a fan favourite
But he’s lost too much pace to play in the Premier League
If you okay with 3 centre backs and 2 full backs on the wings
do you really need a defensive midfielder as well
Surely a couple of box to box players who can pass tackle and shoot should be enough
or is it just because we are playing higher up the pitch so he is exposed more to running midfielders (clearly not ours!)
Sometimes an injury can have a dramatic long term effect on a player
Alvarez is measured against Rice and so no chance from the start
combine that with losing a little pace and he’s done
Westham likely won’t get their money back on him but he should go anyway
West Ham’s annual fixture against Tottenham is usually one of the most fiery
feisty encounters: I remember back in the Upton Park days just walking to the ground required a bit of careful navigation planning when attending with a ten year old
just to avoid the pub with the opposition fans spilling out
Yesterdays West Ham v Spurs encounter was a case of the apathetic versus the distracted
The home fans couldn’t care less after being insulted for months being expected to pay for the privilege of watching dross on the pitch
whilst our opponents made eight changes with their far more important fixtures the bookends either side of this valueless game
What happened before kick off should serve as a very real
very present threat of fan disenchantment which will come to hit the West Ham finances in the bank balance-if indeed it has not already
The ham fisted PA technician played ‘Bubbles’ a bit early and the fans creaked upright and gave a good impression of caring: However the teams were late to appear and the song had long finished
As a consequence the two teams walked out after the music and were greeted by absolute silence
In my hundreds of games I’ve never witnessed anything like it
If the board – and David Sullivan – haven’t already taken note that season ticket sales are shockingly bad as we suspect
then keeping this dreary style of play (dross I think it was called) with an unimaginative
defensively minded coach who turns every game into a contest for audiences just to stay awake- then the warning bells were ringing out in deafening silence yesterday
Keep playing like this and nobody will give a toss
Certainly not enough to pay £75 for a match ticket and £25 for some food and drink
next season she’s going to watch Leyton Orient as the football is better and the ground is nicer
And it’s a hundred quid a week cheaper
The board cannot say they haven’t been warned
We were late and in no hurry and ended up arriving just before half time
Possibly the worst derby game with Spurs I have witnessed in 50 years
As mentioned elsewhere the apathy is at an all-time high (and I was at the midweek home game at the Boleyn v Sheff Wednesday two weeks after they knocked us out of the FACup and the South Bank sat down!😀)
European adventures masked mostly dross over the last three years – but as others have stated a mixture of dullard managers and terrible management at board level has left us with one of the oldest squads and slowest midfields on the planet
so how did Moyes and Lop and Steidten not see it
Bottom line is the board are happy with 17th and will be happy with 10,000 fewer season ticket holders so they can sell more half and half scarves to tourists – remember we are all replaceable as far as they are concerned – the more sanitised newbies and fewer old school the better
We still go to see each other without having to arrange it
my daughter comes and has been since she was six
but we are on the cusp of giving it up – not through a lack of loyalty but through boredom and zero connection with the club in its current form
I hope things change but can’t see it until we are run in a professional manner – which won’t happen until there is a change of ownership
Leaving The Boleyn was a horrendous but necessary move .Moving to a totally unsuitable new venue was the problem .It suited Brady and Sullivan as they love being seen as “big players “but it did not take the fans or the players into consideration .Sullivan has vast wealth from his porn activities but has not contributed anything positive to our club .He is regarded with disdain by other owners and is notoriously difficult to deal with in transfer negotiations
Why would any decent young player join us if someone else were interested.Nothing will improve while Sullivan is at the helm
Relegation is a real possibility next season whatever manager is in charge
As a fan of 65 years and season ticket holder for 25 of them I cannot believe that Sullivan has dragged us down into the gutter he inhabits .Very sad 😢
Well Martin ,I am not sure where you were in the ground yesterday but it definitely wasn’t silent when the players came out ,exaggeration comes to mind I think you are just trying to get some comments favourable or not
I don’t like this attitude on C& H anymore
I am a lifelong fan living Down Under so it’s different for me
I have never had the displeasure of going to watch the Hammers at London Stadium
I am also gutted to have to watch how West Ham seem to be slowly dying as if a cancer is spreading through the club
The cancer needs to be removed for the club to survive
I don’t think I need to spell out what
You are so negative that it will better without you
The more we criticise these parasitic owners the more they treat us with disdain
Can we as fans 5 minutes before the end of the forest game just get up turn our backs and leave
treat them with the same contempt they treat us
As a life-long Spurs fan who grew up in Stepney
surrounded by West Ham (friends and family) fans
I set rivalries aside when saying the following
As much as I have trapped off over the years about West Ham
I’ve always admired the club and the passion of their fans
and their love for their club is a profound one
and the vibe and atmosphere were an off the scale
you KNEW you were in a place that belonged to others
but there’s something missing; that something being what WAS Upton Park
The fan base that IS West Ham deserve much
but a club with the history WHU has cannot continue in this way
and at LS (no football club deserves THAT ground!)
and allow the club to have Top Owners in Charge
I disagree I think Potter is to blame He is the ONLY manager that took over half way through the season that has managed to go down the table instead of UP His stats have not lied
Coming out from the ground Sunday was like coming out of a church The atmosphere is dead and long gone as is my W Ham
It’s sad to read these comments,I feel the same as a fan of nearly 60 years
There could be a boardroom takeover to oust the chairman even though he is the majority shareholder but I guess it would have to involve the other board members and they’ve got be in sink with the fans
This season and others recently have been awful ,how often do we get a statement from the chairman or can’t he think what to say
Carry on as we are and relegation becomes a real possibility and maybe in consecutive seasons then they can bulldoze the stadium for flats
The 2m waiting list will be desperate to get their hands on ST’s left by others
We can also welcome more tourist fans rinsed by the travel companies to the experience the wonders of the London Stadium
oh and if you can please wear your away team strip
It’s a long way back from this and what Sully and co have done
I’ve been an ST holder for years but I’m sick of it
2 blokes behind me shook hands with everyone around em yesterday
I reckon a lot of people will be doing the same
West Ham United 1-1 Tottenham HotspurPremier League
Jarrod Bowen reached double figures in Premier League goals in a season for the third time in his West Ham United career in Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur
the captain will take little satisfaction from reaching another personal Claret and Blue landmark as his side’s run without a top-flight win stretched to eight matches
Against a Spurs team selection based on their UEFA Europa League semi-final second leg at Bodø/Glimt on Thursday
the Irons could not turn that general control of the game into opportunities
West Ham dominated the ball in the first half
while a much-changed Tottenham played on the counter
both teams created just one shot on target
which saw one three-on-two break come to nothing and penalty appeals waved away when Mohammed Kudus’s cross hit Yves Bissouma on the left arm
the home side fell behind in self-inflicted style
A long Djed Spence ball down the left was seemingly Maximilian Kilman’s to deal with
but the defender twice cleared into Mathys Tel
who then crossed for the unmarked Wilson Odobert to control and slot past fellow Frenchman Alphonse Areola
West Ham’s response was to press and the tactic forced Guglielmo Vicario to hurriedly clear as far as Tomáš Souček
who slipped as he shot from 30 yards and the Spurs goalkeeper and stand-in captain was able to recover to collect
Tel then curled a free-kick into the Bobby Moore Stand before the hosts levelled – and it was a decent goal
Aaron Cresswell and Kudus – who had earlier been booked for a high boot on Kevin Danso – combined down the West Ham left
The Ghanaian spread play right to Aaron Wan-Bissaka
who threaded to Bowen inside the Spurs box
and calmly slotted through Vicario’s legs at the near post
Both teams sought a second before half-time
then crossing a yard in front of Odobert for Tottenham
and Wan-Bissaka seeing a shot blocked by Bissouma for West Ham
Into the second half and the game began to open up
Tel worked Areola low down with a tame strike six minutes in
then moments later Kudus and Souček saw shots blocked in quick succession at the other end
Richarlison half-volleyed into the crowd and both Bowen and Bissouma slammed rising shots off target as the hour-mark passed
Into the final 15 minutes and Pape Sarr sent a rasping shot narrowly over
then Vicario reacted well to push Bowen’s header from a James Ward-Prowse free-kick to safety
In added-time substitute Ward-Prowse curled a free-kick past the angle
neither team produced the overall attacking quality to warrant a win
and so both settled for a point and saw their indifferent Premier League campaigns continue

West Ham vs Tottenham - LIVE
London rivals West Ham and Tottenham’s disappointing Premier League form continued as they played out a 1-1 draw on Sunday that kept both stuck just above the relegation places as they battle to avoid ending the season as ‘worst of the rest’
A much-changed Spurs scored the opener after 15 minutes through Wilson Odobert
after Max Kilman had gifted possession to Mathys Tel to put the ball on a plate for his team-mates
but the lead lasted only 13 minutes before Jarrod Bowen equalised well inside the near post
The draw left Tottenham in 16th spot and facing their worst finish since 1977
They are a single point above the 17th-placed Hammers whose winless run in the league was extended to eight games

West Ham fans are divided over whether Graham Potter is the right man to lead the club forward as his dismal record stretched to just three wins in 16 games
While most fans felt Potter must be given the summer to rebuild the team with his own players
there are increasing doubts about the under pressure Hammers boss
The malaise at West Ham is nothing new and dates back to January 2024
spanning three managers and a complete squad overhaul
So the worry is that the Hammers will perform yet another rebuild
which on the evidence of this season is sorely needed
Potter has taken West Ham backwards in terms of the league table and results
dropping from 13th when Julen Lopetegui was sacked
With only a dotted line separating West Ham and the relegation zone as things stand
there can be no more backward steps next season
And the teams coming up are expected to be much more competitive than the last two seasons
In truth West Ham need players right across the pitch
But midfield and up front are the biggest issues
West Ham do not possess a single box-to-box midfield powerhouse like most of their rivals
The good thing is that Potter appeared to spot that immediately on joining the club in January as he planned to sign one
But now a top star West Ham planned to sign twists the knife with a brutal new verdict on Potter after his snub
West Ham had looked on course to sign Ezechiel Banzuzi for around £13m but the deal didn’t happen
Last week young Dutch midfield powerhouse Banzuzi admitted the Hammers wanted to sign him from Belgian side OH Leuven in January
but that didn’t happen either,” Banzuzi said as he admitted a move to Monaco fell through too
Banzuzi did not elaborate on the reason why the West Ham move didn’t happen
And it doesn’t do Potter any favours in the big debate over his future – because what Banzuzi has said suggests West Ham are going to struggle to attract players this summer
OH Leuven ended up agreeing a deal to sell Banzuzi to RB Leipzig in the summer
Now Banzuzi says it is a good thing the West Ham move didn’t happen because not only are the team struggling
he also doesn’t like the way Potter plays football
that was on my mind,” Banzuzi admitted about the interest from West Ham in January
“But in retrospect it is good that it did not happen
it is not the type of football I want to play.”
Many Hammers fans would agree with the powerful 20-year-old on the evidence so far
West Ham need to drastically improve next season
And in order to do that they need yet another sizeable overhaul of players
That in itself will present its own challenges in terms of gelling next season
So Potter must give supporters something to reassure them in the last three games that the Banzuzi scenario is not going to be a problem this summer
It also proves players do look at where a team is in the table when making decisions on their future
While a win could lift West Ham up to the dizzy heights of 14th
finishing 17th will make them a very unattractive proposition for prospective signings

Some fans were still strolling in at kick-off
plenty had stayed away and there was silence when the teams emerged
who made eight changes before they look to protect a 3-1 lead in the second leg of their Europa League semi-final against Bodø/Glimt on Thursday
could not have asked for a gentler welcome
even going out of their way to help the visitors into the lead after 15 minutes of soporific football
who has struggled since his £40m move from Wolves last summer
failing to clear his lines before Odobert made it 1-0 summed up the damage Potter has to repair during pre-season
The centre-back had time to deal with a harmless ball down the left flank but played himself into trouble by twice wafting clearances against Mathys Tel
A nothing situation became one fraught with danger
leaving Odobert to stroke home his first league goal of the season after Richarlison dummied Tel’s pass into the winger’s path

Photograph: Ryan Pierse/Getty ImagesPostecoglou was pleased with his side’s effort
Avoiding a 20th defeat of a sorry league campaign was a boost
although the Spurs manager was more worried about whether James Maddison will shake off a knee injury in time for the trip to Bodø
who was more optimistic about Dominic Solanke’s chances off recovering from a thigh complaint
Postecoglou acknowledged that his changes disrupted their rhythm
which allowed West Ham to feel their way back into the contest
“They scored against the run of play,” Potter said
“Because of the moment we’re having it’s tough
It is a surprise that Bowen wants to stay and fight
West Ham’s captain would not be short of suitors were he to press for a move but his motivation remains undimmed
If only others in claret and blue were as driven
The winger never stops going and West Ham were again indebted to him when he equalised in the 28th minute
The goal came from Mohammed Kudus switching play to Wan-Bissaka on the right
The wing-back had time to slide a pass down the line to Bowen
who encountered no resistance as he darted away from Ben Davies
dribbled inside and threaded a low finish through Guglielmo Vicario’s legs

Yet if that was a reminder of how easy it is to make chances against Spurs
West Ham looked determined to match them for defensive ineptitude
They could have trailed again when Lucas Paquetá lost possession in midfield; Richarlison shot wide
Potter urged West Ham to push up. Vicario denied Bowen and James Ward-Prowse whipped a free-kick over after coming off the bench, but the final 30 minutes were dreadful. Paquetá appeared to be crying when he picked up a late yellow card. He was not alone in feeling miserable.
Getty ImagesPublished5 May 2025Jarrod Bowen has demanded West Ham show some pride over the final three games of a miserable season
The Hammers are in 17th place in the Premier League after Sunday's dour derby draw with Tottenham made it eight matches without a win but Bowen wants his team-mates to dig out some positive results to finish the season
"It's easy to say the season's done
we can't get relegated and there's nothing to play for," said skipper Bowen
"But this is a club that prides itself on hard work and passion
and we're all determined to go and win
this season we haven't done enough as a group of players to be high enough in the table
"It's self-pride to go out there every single week because the worst thing is to come out of a game and think you could've done more
We know we should be in a better position and have done better
and it's down to us to win those remaining three games
That's got to be the mindset to play for this club."

We can confirm the starting line-ups and substitutes for this afternoon's Premier League clash with West Ham United at the London Stadium (2pm UK)
Ange Postecoglou has made eight changes from Thursday night's Europa League semi-final first-leg win over Bodø/Glimt
Three players keep their places with Guglielmo Vicario
Yves Bissouma and Richarlison all starting in east London while there are changes across the rest of the team
There is a whole new backline with Archie Gray
Ben Davies and Djed Spence starting while Pape Matar Sarr and Dejan Kulusevski are named in midfield
Mathys Tel and Wilson Odobert are also in from the off with the pair expected to start alongside Richy in a front three
Jarrod Bowen's tenth Premier League goal of the season cancelled out Wilson Odobert's early opener and ensured West Ham United's final London derby of the season would end 1-1
Tottenham Hotspur took a 15th-minute lead through Odobert after Mathys Tel took advantage of a slip at the back to square for his unmarked teammate to knock home
The Hammers hit back within 13 minutes though
when skipper Bowen timed his run perfectly to latch onto Aaron Wan-Bissaka's pass into the penalty area and coolly slot through goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario's legs
Both sides huffed and puffed as they searched for a decisive second
but it would not come for either and the spoils were ultimately shared
Hit play above to watch highlights from London Stadium.
Mike: Very poor performance again by West Ham
Quite apart from the dreadful defensive mistake by Max Kilman to give Tottenham the lead
Just pleased that there are three weaker teams in the league to prevent our relegation
Myles: So many hours wasted watching the Hammers this year
Only Jarrod Bowen and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are in any kind of form
Paqueta has been a liability in midfield for two years and undeserving of a start
Hayley: Disappointed we didn't win as I was really hoping to finish above Spurs this season
It's good to see Potter making lots of substitutions
Really need to win our remaining games if any hope of finishing above Spurs
Michael: Think probably like me most West Ham fans can't wait for the season to finish
Need to offload a lot of this squad and let Potter bring players in to suit his playing style - whatever that might be
James: Very much an end-of-season feel to it
Spurs obviously have an eye on the Europa League
it feels as if the end of the season can't come soon enough and a major reshuffle is needed
He needs a transfer window to implement what he wants
we will be in the same position next season and can only see it getting tougher
Hopefully some decent changes can be made during the summer and we start playing the Hammers way
Barry: If there was ever a day for Spurs and West Ham fans to unite
Every player should have been booed off for that utter dross

He told BBC Radio 5 Live's Football Daily podcast the Hammers face an uncertain future
"It just shows how much of a big job Graham Potter has [at West Ham]," Reo-Coker said
"He is definitely going to get next season [but] it's not so easy to rebuild and recruit in the modern game
"How are they going to shift all of the players that Potter doesn't want in order to get his identity at the football club and to kick on for next season
people in the media start coming after you."

Former Premier League striker Clinton Morrison added: "For the money West Ham spent last summer
what player can you say has been a success
They brought in Julen Lopetegui because they thought David Moyes wasn't good enough and they wanted to play attractive football
They haven't got the players at the moment
The performance against Tottenham was lacklustre
"The recruitment has been nowhere near good enough and it feels like Potter is going to have to start again
I thought that West Ham could challenge for an outside place in Europe
Listen to the full episode on BBC Sounds
it was quite possibly the worst game I've ever seen
Neither side could put more than two passes together
and the number of fouls totally spoiled whatever flow there was to the game
Let's hope we can get the proper side on the pitch on Thursday because this team would get hammered by Bodo/Glimt
The only redeeming thing from this game is that nobody was injured
It was played with no intensity from either side
No Spurs player did anything of note - they seemed to play like they didn't want an injury
just in case they get a chance to play on Thursday
by very poor goalkeeping from Guglielmo Vicario
and it really was a game of two teams at the bottom of the table
Any players hoping to impress to get into the side for the second leg failed miserably
the sooner Ange Postecoglou's reign will be over
and next season won't be so humiliating
so ordinary in just about every department
I know Ange is resting players for the Bodo game
but it was like watching Sunday morning on Hackney Marshes
but it amazes me how Ange still only starts his favourites
Can't wait for him to either be sacked or walk in a few weeks' time

West Ham United U18s v West Bromwich Albion U18sU18 Premier League South
West Ham United U18s will round off their 2024/25 season on home turf
welcoming West Bromwich Albion to Little Heath Training Ground on Tuesday
It brings the curtain down on a memorable campaign for the young Hammers
who made history by becoming just the fifth team to lift the U18 Premier League Cup last month
An excellent season in terms of development has also seen a handful of U18s earn regular opportunities with the U21s
With as many as five scholars travelling with the development squad for their Premier League 2 quarter-final against Manchester United on Monday
Tuesday’s U18s clash will once again offer valuable minutes for younger scholars and U16s hoping to make their mark
post-match reaction and highlights will be available on the Club’s website and app following the final whistle
It’s been a challenging season in the league for West Bromwich Albion
who have picked up just 12 points from their 22 matches
their lowest tally since joining the southern division of the U18 Premier League in 2020
earning only one win from eleven games on the road
the Baggies did enjoy a strong FA Youth Cup run
reaching the quarter-finals before falling to defending champions and eventual finalists Manchester City
They also hold the upper hand in recent meetings with West Ham
going unbeaten in the last three encounters
including two wins over our U18s who finished runners up in Premier League South last season
scored his third goal in five games to give West Ham the lead
West Brom responded with goals either side of the interval to turn the game on its head
but the young Hammers hit back through Mauritius international Gabriel Caliste
who finished off a well-worked team move to secure a 2-2 draw and a point on the road
West Ham United currently sit 12th in the U18 Premier League South table
but a win on Tuesday and results going their way elsewhere could see them finish as high as ninth
While our FA Youth Cup run ended in the third round at Grimsby Town, the young Hammers made history this season by becoming the first U18s age group to win the Premier League Cup for West Ham

While Graham Potter's men remain 15 points clear of already-relegated 18th-place side Ipswich Town
they know that a string of good results over the coming weeks could yield a run up the standings
with Wolverhampton Wanderers in 13th just five points ahead
Just one place and one point above the Irons in 16th
Tottenham have endured a difficult season of their own
and in the league have lost five of their last six
including a 5-1 thrashing at champions Liverpool on their most recent outing

Tottenham captain Son Heung-min is a doubt for this weekend's clash

everything looked good at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Australian head coach Ange Postecoglou had kicked off his reign with a ten-match unbeaten run that saw Spurs storm to the top of the Premier League table
And although results had been less consistent for the next few months
Tottenham still went into the final seven matches of the 2024/25 campaign in the top four and on course for UEFA Champions League qualification
the north Londoners would lose five of those seven matches
all to clubs rivalling them for a top-four finish
and ultimately slip to a fifth-place finish and settle for a place in the UEFA Europa League

Tottenham have won five and lost 14 of the 22 Premier League matches they have played and dropped from sixth to 16th in the table

the first of which will be played in north London on Thursday evening
Victory over Bodø/Glimt and either Manchester United or Athletic Club of Bilbao in the final would secure Spurs a place in next season’s Champions League

Michail Antonio scored the winner in October 2021 and was also on the scoresheet alongside Jesse Lingard in a 2-1 triumph over Jose Mourinho’s team behind closed doors in February of that year
Tottenham did beat West Ham three times on the trot at home in all competitions between December 2021 and February 2023
until Jarrod Bowen and James Ward-Prowse strikes powered David Moyes’ men to a 2-1 win in north London in early December 2023
Spurs did triumph in the teams' most recent meeting
powering Ange Postecoglou's men to a 4-1 win in October 2024
This particular match-up also has a reputation for a wonderstrike or two
Manuel Lanzini rescued a point with a 30-yard screamer as the Hammers overturned a three-goal deficit to draw 3-3 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in 2020
while two years earlier Pedro Obiang stunned Wembley Stadium with an unstoppable long-range rocket in a game that finished 1-1

Michael Oliver will referee a West Ham United fixture for the 45th time in his illustrious career on Sunday
40-year-old Oliver was introduced to refereeing by his father
at the age of 14 and became the youngest referee to officiate at Wembley Stadium when he took charge of the 2007 Conference National play-off final
He had already become the youngest Football League assistant referee and referee when he became the youngest Premier League referee when he took charge of Birmingham City’s 2-1 win over Blackburn Rovers on 21 August 2010
UEFA Super Cup final in 2022 and EFL Championship Play-Off final in 2023
He is five short of 400 Premier League appointments and has passed 750 matches at all levels
Included in those 755 games were three at UEFA Euro 2020
three at the 2022 FIFA World Cup and Euro 2024
in addition to Nations League ties and international friendlies

A leading journalist has revealed who West Ham’s owners privately blame for the club’s alarming collapse over the past 18 months
Fans have been pointing fingers at Graham Potter, Julen Lopetegui, Tim Steidten, David Sullivan and the players
But the Hammers hierarchy themselves have their own opinion on who is most culpable of all
West Ham fans will have seen these statistics too many times to mention by now
But they are worth laying out in black and white for context here
West Ham have won 13 of their last 54 Premier League matches
That is relegation form across most normal seasons
The Hammers had the fourth worst defence in the top flight last season
shipping a club Premier League record 74 goals
This season they have improved defensively – but only marginally considering the club committed £87m to sign three new defenders in Max Kilman
Instead of having the fourth worst defence in the top flight
the Hammers still have the fifth worst this season with 59 shipped and three games to go
Under Lopetegui West Ham won just seven games
six of them in the Premier League and one in the Carabao Cup before being embarrassed 5-1 at Liverpool in the next round
winning just three of 15 Premier League games and exiting the FA Cup in the other
There has been a blame game culture sneaking back into the club after a period of serenity and togetherness under David Moyes
Potter has blamed Lopetegui for leaving West Ham in a mess
Fans have blamed former technical director Steidten and Lopetegui for squandering £155m last summer
Potter then said it’s time to blame West Ham’s players after the collapse at Brighton
And the players have been blaming themselves in a series of frank interviews but beyond the usual suspects
Sullivan and the board have been taking a lot of flak recently too for failing to build on the club winning a first major trophy of the last 45 years
West Ham fans look at Newcastle and Villa with envious glances at how they have been able to sustain their growth and progress
There has been growing discontent about the manager
with some calling for another change this summer
West Ham’s board have delivered their verdict on Potter after the disappointing 1-1 draw with Tottenham’s reserve team
And West Ham have told a prominent journalist who they really blame for the club’s shocking decline
That decline has been undeniable and progressively worse
West Ham went from top six midway through last season to finishing ninth under Moyes
Lopetegui left them team 13th in the table midway through the next
Now Potter has the Hammers sitting another four places lower at 17th in the table as he closes on bringing up half a season in charge
West Ham fans know who they blame – and opinion varies from one to another
But who do the board themselves point the finger at in the corridors of power
According to The Telegraph’s Jason Burt
it is the club’s most successful manager of the modern era
Burt claims that senior West Ham sources argue the shocking decline can be traced to the second half of last season when performances and results tailed off under Moyes
Burt adds that the feeling at West Ham was that Moyes’s time at the club had run its course and they wanted to make a big-name appointment and back him with significant spending as they aimed
A penny for Moyes’ thoughts on this one given what he did in keeping West Ham up twice
leading them to their record ever Premier League points total
three consecutive seasons in Europe for the first time in their history
That’s not to mention reaching the Europa League semi and quarter-finals either side of a first major trophy since 1980
Or the fact Moyes played a big part in the continued progression of Declan Rice
which earned the Hammers £105m of pure profit
Yes the malaise did kick in under Moyes – of that there is no doubt
But how can it be argued on the one hand that Potter needs a pre-season and his own players before being judged and on the other that Moyes is to blame after Lopetegui and Steidten had just that as his successors at the Hammers helm
Lopetegui and Steidten are the architects of a worst campaign since the Avram Grant relegation season
And Potter should be doing much better with the players he has available – even if they aren’t his
While it is interesting to hear who the owners really blame for the mess the club is in
there seems to be little accountability in the actual boardroom itself
Beyond the hierarchy conceding to Burt they ‘massively overspent’ last summer
Ironically the claim does come as Moyes’ honeymoon period back at Everton looks well and truly over
That’s after Everton fans flooded social media saying the same thing about Moyes following the Toffee’ 2-2 draw against Ipswich
West Ham’s winless run has now stretched to eight games under Graham Potter, and despite assurances that his position is secure heading into the new season – regardless of future results – many West Ham fans are in no rush to renew their season tickets to watch a team that has regressed over recent years
One notable statistic reflects the teams shift towards a more possession-based style of play which has helped stabilise the teams goal against record
barring the three goals conceded against Brighton
Yet the more worrying statistic is the goal threat – or more simply the amount of shots on target achieved per game
In their recent match against a heavily rotated Tottenham side – who had made eight changes for the trip to the London stadium – West Ham managed just two shots on target
a smart finish from Jarrod Bowen found the net from a difficult angle
Potter and his backroom staff can improve on this area is questionable
His assistants – Bruno Saltor a former right back with experience in La Liga
with a forgettable managerial record (including a zero win rate as interim manager of Huddersfield in two games and a 15.79% win rate at Stoke City over 19 league games – don’t bring proven attacking expertise
comes largely from the Scottish lower Leagues with spells at Clyde and Hamilton
With Xavi Valero already in place as goalkeeping coach it’s baffling that the club haven’t brought in a dedicated striker coach to help address this glaring issue
A potential solution lies within the clubs own heritage
a life long fan and club legend would be a popular and potentially effective candidate
Only two years ago Cottee publicly stated “I’d love to be involved.”Alternatively Teddy Sheringham – who commands respect and spent three years at West Ham could bring valuable insight and attacking nous
Teddy Sheringham – could have much to offer West Ham’s toothless forward play
Potter should show humility and acknowledge this is an area he needs to strengthen
as goals win games – and that’s precisely an area West Ham are struggling to find
I have been a season ticket holder since the late eighties
so experienced the highs and lows of being a West Ham supporter
I previously wrote for OLAS and have contributed to a number of football publications in the past
I’m fed up with what I call tip tap tip tap football get the ball up top as quick as you can is my motto
I have noticed from a goal kick two defenders standing not just in the box but in the six yard box ipswich do it as well look where they are now
It was said that we will be more competitive in transfer market to the London stadium so how do explain Brighton bourmouth palace Fulham forest having better squads than us they hark on about how much was spent in the summer but I don’t think that’s much over nine players
Get the ball forward quicker no more tip tap down the line and then all the way back again
These are supposed to be professional footballers that earn mega bucks
tackling and heading a football should come naturally
Why need coaches to tell a player what should come naturally
shoot on target and hey presto…a good chance you’ll get a goal
Though I was thinking more of a highly qualified coach who has worked with the best teams in Europe
Someone who’ll work the players over Summer
Bring fresh ideas to be worked on in preparedness of fighting to stay in the PL😛
also working on midfield + attack link up play
Potter is a risk averse coach which is why the players have been coached to play sideways and backwards instead of a risky forward pass which could lose possession
Both XG and actual goals scored show how impotent Westham are in spite of having world class attackers
Next season Westham will have an inferior squad because of PSR constraints caused in part by an incoherent transfer and coaching policy
It’s clear now that Westham will retain Potter and suffer the consequences next season and so it’s probably the right time to skip the season ticket
Attacking coaches are fine if you get the ball in opposition box
First thing we need to address is the slowest midfield in history and sod the sideways and backwards possession
Get the ball forward quicker into dangerous areas
Definitely need a attacking coach as we need more goals we can’t go on as we are now
Maybe Kevin Nolan can be enticed to play a big part here with our attacking and all around play
For the first time since 1978 I will not be renewing my season ticket
who I’ve gone with for the last twenty years has informed me she is pregnant and won’t be renewing hers
So after long consideration about who I would go with instead of her I have decided to give it up
Tbh I haven’t really enjoyed it at the new stadium at all
I could probably count on my fingers the amount of games I’ve actually enjoyed going to since Upton Park
So from Trevor Brooking to Mike Small to Jarrod Bowen I will be watching from afar from next season
The sad thing is I don’t think I’m going to miss it anymore
So good on anyone who continues to put up with all that
there was never any chance of reliving younger days at Boleyn
Hopefully all of our season ticket holders can all sit/stand together in sections behind the goals
Creating their own atmosphere with others of a similar leaning
Leaving the sides (especially 1966) free for casuals and non-combatants to purchase seated tickets and begin their own journeys of unwavering support
Hope all goes well and Grandad will have a little Iron to spoil and dream with
Who knows maybe I will start going again with the grandkids when they’re old enough
My wife’s mum and dad are still season ticket holders and they’re well in their eighties
I will no doubt get lengthy reports from them
even though I have watched the same game as them
and improve the atmosphere that could only be a good thing
I could tell you some stories about McAvennie and Bishop that would amaze you or maybe not
Not done it for years but used to go to loads of away games including sharing a box with Ray Winstone in the Kippax end at Maine Road
Spurs were right when they bid for it and were going to knock it down and rebuild a proper football ground
Remember going to Upton Park when there was probably less than 20 thousand there and the atmosphere was still better than most games at Stratford
West Ham United has shunned a kit supply option with Castore in order to sign a long-term contract with New Balance from the 2026-27 season
The agreement is expected to run for five seasons
with New Balance to replace Umbro as the east London club’s official technical partner
West Ham has been kitted out by Umbro since the start of the 2015-16 season
and the current deal is due to expire at the end of the 2025-26 campaign
West Ham’s commercial department recently went through a tender process and its decision to opt for New Balance will come as a major blow to Castore
The UK sportswear manufacturer had hoped to add the club to its portfolio as part of its March 2024 agreement with Umbro licensee, GL Dameck
to become the exclusive ‘Umbro Professional Team Sports’ sub-licence holder in the UK
Umbro-branded clubs continue to wear Umbro kit until each individual contracts run out after which Castore has the exclusive right “to seek to work” with those clubs
West Ham opted against going down that route and instead sought a new technical partner from 2026-27
Umbro’s current Premier League portfolio comprises AFC Bournemouth, Brentford, West Ham and Ipswich Town
albeit the latter has been relegated to the EFL Championship from 2025-26
a new UK-based brand trademarked by the club’s Chinese owners
which will play Premier League football in 2025-26
West Ham is the second European football club for which New Balance has won the kit supplier contract from Castore. Earlier this year, Bayer 04 Leverkusen confirmed it was switching brands from 2025-26
breaking the Castore contract a year early
Castore had entered the German Bundesliga for the first time with its Leverkusen deal, which was announced in February 2022
The impending West Ham deal marks a return to the Premier League kit supply business for New Balance following a controversial exit in 2020 which resulted in a UK High Court battle
New Balance became Liverpool’s technical partner in 2015
but the US brand went onto sue the club after it emerged it was likely to be replaced by Nike upon the expiry of its deal with Liverpool at the end of the 2019-20 season. The brand claimed the club was refusing to honour a renewal clause that meant the pair’s agreement should be extended.
cited the status of rival brand Nike’s associated athletes and influencers
as a key factor in his judgment that New Balance could not match the terms of Liverpool’s proposed deal with Nike.
Last month, Liverpool confirmed it was swapping Nike for Adidas from 2025-26, a story exclusively broken by SportBusiness in April 2024
New Balance this week confirmed its return to Serie A from 2025-26
with the announcement of its new kit supply deal with Atalanta
Under the terms of the multi-year contract, reported by SportBusiness in January
The Spanish sportswear manufacturer has supplied Atalanta’s kit since 2017-18 when it succeeded Nike
While New Balance kits out mid-table Serie B side Modena
it has no current agreements in the top division – indeed it has been absent since the end of its Roma contract after the 2022-23 season
Mirroring its legal dispute with Liverpool in the UK
New Balance took Roma to the ICC International Court of Arbitration in early 2023 after the club agreed a deal with a new supplier from 2023-24
The US-based firm insisted that it had matched a bid by the then unnamed competitor and should be awarded the renewal as per a ‘right of first refusal’ clause in its contract. However, the arbitration court rejected New Balance’s plea to stop the execution of the new technical contract “in its entirety”

As West Ham teeter on the brink of going a quarter of a season without a win
Irons boss Graham Potter finds himself unusually insulated from dismissal
few believe Potter is under any real threat of being sacked
West Ham’s longest-ever winless run in the top flight stands at 17 games
and it’s now entirely possible Potter could extend his personal run to 12 by the time this season ends
The much-repeated excuse that “nobody could do better with this group of players” has been debunked — after all, even the awful Julen Lopetegui
managed better results with Niclas Fullkrug and Jarrod Bowen both injured for long spells
Yet Claret & Hugh understands that Potter is under no pressure from the West Ham board
regardless of the results between now and the end of the campaign
Perhaps it’s a sense of embarrassment from those at the top
after botching two consecutive managerial appointments
there’s no murmured “three-game ultimatum” or leaks about needing a result “to ease pressure.”
Potter is understood to have the full backing of vice-chair Karren Brady and chairman David Sullivan
What minority shareholder Daniel Křetínský thinks about the rapid devaluation of his 27% stake remains unclear — but it’s unlikely he’s chuffed to bits
Potter remains safe — despite results and performances all heading in the wrong direction
I am sure that if our form is this bad at the beginning of next season (no wins in 8) Potter will be fired (like Slav who at least delivered one good season)
The question is who will replace him – we now seem to be on a path like Everton were a few seasons back – a succession of short lived managers (even the much coveted Marco Silva) and expensive unsuccessful buys
What we now need is some stability – but I am not sure if Potter can deliver
We played better football under Allardyce and that was boring AF compared to Potter
What is the point in keeping Potter other than saving on compensation
When we face a massive squad overhaul why trust Potter
Season ticket renewals will ultimately show just how much confidence there is in the three of them
Spot on But my point being they were players who cared gave there all for there love of the club and fans played with there heart on there sleeves
FairPlay I misunderstood what you were saying 😀
Agree Dave been going now for over 60 years Seen good and the bad But in all that time never felt so low and dont care attitude The club has driven all my enthusiasm away Just cant see any future at the moment Always felt a connection and passionate with the club but there just distant and giving us nothing back
Sat in my £80 seat yesterday bored senseless while still digesting a £13 chicken kebab and awful £7 pint of Amstell wondering what on earth I’m doing here
Only the pull of meeting old mates keeps me going but having a £100 lunch instead each time we meet gets ever more attractive
And I haven’t even mentioned the queues/trains etc….
I only go to see my mates who I have known since Rosetta school in Custom House at the age of 5
We always say for a long time now when we leave the pub that a good day is about to get spoiled when we watch the game
Going to that stadium is truly awful and soul destroying and I never buy the overpriced food and drink
I hate going to that stadium and miss Upton Park like mad even though I thought that to grow as a club we needed to leave
Going to Stratford was just another in a long line of clueless decisions made by the people in charge
Even teflon is useless once it’s to old or worn OR not up to standard
As the drivel on the pitch continues ad nauseum
our talented youngsters remain ignored by Potter
Only Scarles has been seen in the first team – and he has been sidelined in recent weeks
Surely they would be hungrier than most of the current first team squad (Bowen and Wan Bissaka excepted)
Why are the same individuals in the first team squad continually picked
we have been safe from relegation for months
As when Julen Lopetegui picked his first few teams
Very little change from Wee Davey’s teams
Potter would be toast if he ignored all of our costly ‘stars’
All of our new expensive acquisitions sitting it out whilst Potter picked our talented youngsters
That’s why Potter is paid for the best job in football management
I believe Potter should stay But right now we need a Bobby Moore G Hurst M Peter’s to be proud of The skills of a Trevor Brooking The spirt leadership of a Billy Bonds Our club is built on greatness Let’s get back to where we belong Please everyone running our club get back to basics and improve dont ruin and insult everything that has been achieved in the past Because at the moment make no mistake we are in serious decline
We do have a Jarrod Bowen to be very proud of
He is one shining light amidst all the doom and gloom
Arron Wan-Bissaka has also been an exemplary model of a player dedicated to the cause ever since he joined the Hammers
Maybe some of our returning academy youngsters can help re-spark the flame that we have lost
West Ham United women’s team forward Seraina Piubel was pleased with the amount of chances her side created in their 3-2 defeat to Aston Villa in the Barclays Women’s Super League on Sunday
The Hammers responded well to falling behind after five minutes at Chigwell Construction Stadium
as Shekiera Martinez nodded home her tenth goal of the campaign before Riko Ueki pounced to make it 2-1 to the hosts
Rachel Daly’s first-time finish pulled Villa back level before Chasity Grant slotted a 54th-minute winner past Kinga Szemik in the Irons goal
No77 Piubel played all 90 minutes in east London at the weekend
the first time she has played a full WSL match in nearly two months
and was quick to praise the effort levels from her team in their narrow loss to the Villains
and there was a lot of hard work from everyone
“I think the second goal was not their (Aston Villa’s) own goal
but I think we’ve had some good games at home and also away
Aston Villa spoiled the party in what was the Hammers’ final home match of the season
Rehanne Skinner’s side have recorded the most points and most wins at home in a single WSL season in the Club's seven-year history in the competition - and the fans have been there every step of the way
the players showed their appreciation to the supporters in a lap of honour
and Piubel expressed how key they have been to the Irons’ success this campaign
She said: “I love it (playing at Chigwell Construction Stadium)
and I'm really looking forward to the next season with the fans again
They’ve been the 12th woman on the pitch for us this season
so it was a nice moment with them after the game
but we go into the next game and will be looking to end the season with a victory [against Leicester City] and put the disappointment from today behind us.”

West Ham star Lucas Paqueta was so frustrated by his yellow card against Tottenham he was moved to tears
The Brazilian midfielder was booked after appearing to cut down rival Mikey Moore in the centre of the pitch
His sliding challenge grazed the Spurs youngster
who looked like he'd overrun the ball
referee Michael Oliver determined the tackle was worth a yellow card
so much so he was seen waving and flapping his arms before a camera shot then showed him wiping a tear away from his eye
Oliver then called over the player in an attempt to warn him about his conduct
talkSPORT reporter James Fielden said: “You join me here mid-head loss from Lucas Paqueta who's just been yellow carded for what looked like a fairly simple yellow card challenge.
“There was a Tottenham player sprinting forward, he took him out, didn't get any of the ball and was shown a yellow card.
“He started throwing his arms in the air, stropping around. Michael Oliver was like, ‘What's the big deal? Calm down. It's a yellow card’.
Stop those tears flowing and get him to engage in the game again
“I'm not sure what came over him there
but he seems to be okay again now and he's getting on with things here.”
Paqueta got on with the game but just seven minutes later he was substituted and looked devastated
he looked emotional as he was replaced by James Ward-Prowse
And his replacement almost won the Hammers a tight match in east London
The two clubs looked to be playing out a 1-1 draw after first-half goals from Wilson Odobert and Jarrod Bowen
A heavily-rotated Tottenham team had eight changes and Moore was the only substitute used as they prepare for the second leg of their Europa League semi-final against Bodo/Glimt
But the starters looked to tire offering West Ham some late chances with a Ward-Prowse set piece almost headed home by Bowen
and he then put a free-kick just past the post
West Ham manager Graham Potter was asked about Paqueta's yellow card and subsequent reaction
he insisted there was nothing untoward about the situation
"I thought him and Tomas [Soucek] were just tiring a bit
They'd had to go through a lot of work
I haven't spoken to Lucas about that incident
"There's no problem from my perspective
It's just sometimes players get a bit upset when it doesn't go their way
Paqueta's wife Duda Fournier took to social media to comment on the incident
where she said: "I've never said anything here
"My husband has a posture and strength that I admire and thatIMPRESSES me
"We've been living this nightmare for two years and he's ALWAYS strong… he's always had it in his head that he would only defend himself at the right time and place
and only HE knows why we're going through this
"And only because of HIM are we well and living happily as a family
Captain Jarrod Bowen admitted feeling a mixture of emotions following West Ham United’s 1-1 Premier League draw with London rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday
The 28-year-old notched his tenth Premier League goal of the season just shy of the half-hour mark
hitting the milestone for the third time in Claret and Blue
to cancel out Wilson Odobert’s early opener
The Hammers enjoyed more possession than their opponents (56%)
and bettered their tallies for shots (eleven to seven)
tackles (29 to 14) and passes (423 to 341)
but were ultimately forced to settle for a share of the spoils on home soil
which extended their winless run to eight games
who went close to notching a winner with a header around five minutes from the end
said: “I think there is a mixture of emotions after today
It’s frustrating because I think the game was there to be won
I think we probably could have done more to win the game
but we had chances and the keeper made a good save from my header late on
“But with the state of the game when we went 1-0 down
it was important we stuck together and showed a bit of character
We managed to react and get that goal to get back in the game
It’s just whether there was a little bit more that we could have done maybe to win the game
“Scoring goals is something I pride myself on
and all I’ve tried to do ever since I signed back in 2020 is to come in
work hard for the team and try and score goals week in
Long may it continue that I keep scoring goals for this Club.”
Maurading full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka chipped in with the assist for Bowen’s strike
and the latter was quick to shower praise on a player he feels has been a shining light in a largely disappointing campaign overall
The whole Irons squad will now shift their attentions to bouncing back to winning ways away at Manchester United next weekend
their first of three remaining games in which they will be looking to boost their run to the summer break
Bowen added: “Aaron’s been brilliant ever since he’s walked through the door last summer
He’s been in the Premier League for a number of years now and he’s shown his quality and consistency week in
and it was good because that was a real part of the game we knew we could exploit
with them holding the line and trying to play offside
It’s a pleasure to play with Aaron and have him in our ranks
“I think I spoke last week after the Brighton game about how it’s easy to say the season’s done
we can’t get relegated and there’s nothing to play for
But this is a Club that prides itself on hard work and passion
and we’re all determined to go and win some games
because ultimately this season we haven’t done enough as a group of players to be high enough in the table
and it’s exactly the same message this week
It’s self-pride to go out there every single week
because the worst thing is to come out of a game and think you could’ve done more
but we’re here now and it’s down to us to win those remaining three games
That’s got to be the mindset to play for this Club.”
At ‘just’ twenty nine years old, this prolific Bundesliga striker would be a definite Fullkrug upgrade and at 194 cm’s – six foot four in old money – he’s obviously a bit of a handful which accounts for his sixteen goals and ten assists this season
West Ham have found recruiting from the top tier hard work – finishing seventeenth is not big and it’s not clever- so bringing in players who miss out on European Football with their current clubs makes a lot of sense
Borussia Mönchengladbach’s huge German striker
is reported to be going up for sale if the Bundesliga side fail to secure European football this season
As detailed in caughtoffside.com
West Ham are in the mix for the huge frontman who certainly knows how to put himself about and would be a huge boost to West Ham’s attack next season
he’s not fantasy money for the Hammers who have to sell to buy
Spurs and Wolves are all mentioned and are more than likely tripping over each other in their searches to bring strikers to the PL
making the assumption that Graham Potter shrugs off this season’s negativity and actually plans to start a frontman next term
The more we read of links with permanent replacements for Michail Antonio
the more – guardedly – optimistic we become
However until we see a new number nine actually running onto the pitch in August forgive our scepticism
Here are our player ratings for the match. Read the detailed match report of all the action here.
Elyh Harrison – 7.5 – Made a couple of easy saves by his standards but was most impressive with the ball at his feet
spraying some very difficult passes with great accuracy
He was the most exciting part of a dull first half
Habeeb Ogunneye – 7 – One of the only players who played the first half with any sort of intensity
he regularly looked to drive the play forward down the right wing and was rock solid defensively
Louis Jackson – 6.5 – Like many in the side
he slowed down the play too often but when he did release the ball
he produced some very good raking balls into the channels
Could have been a bit more aggressive in the challenge on a couple of occasions but defended well for the most part
Godwill Kukonki – 6 – Started very poorly with a cheap giveaway and then a few more wayward passes
Was one of the chief culprits for United’s lacklustre play in the first half with his need to slow the play down to a walking pace constantly
Improved in the second half to play the ball a bit quicker and wasn’t troubled much defensively
Sam Murray – 7.5 – Initially did well coming inside to support the midfield which allowed United to dominate possession but he really excelled when he had the courage to go on a lung busting run down the left wing
One of which led to him scoring his first goal of the season after winning the ball in United’s half and charging forward over 50 yards
Jacob Devaney – 6.5 – Spread the ball well at the base of midfield but picked up a cheap yellow card which prevented him from jumping into many challenges
Tyler Fletcher – 7 – A fantastic second half made up for a very bad mistake for West Ham’s goal when he coughed up possession on the edge of the box
moved the ball out of midfield quickly which didn’t allow West Ham time to settle after forcing turnovers which he mopped up excellently
A great performance and did not let his head go down after the mistake
James Scanlon – 6.5 – Took his goal very well to get United back into the match but just drifts through matches far too often when played on the right wing
Sekou Kone – 6 – A mixed performance
he showed the evident skill he possesses with some quick feet in tight areas but the moments were fleeting
he looked uncomfortable for the most part and was unable to get involved as much as you would want
He particularly struggled with taking the ball on the turn
often opting to play it backwards after a heavy touch
Sam Mather – 7 – He was sloppy in the first half but came alive in the second half where he looked a constant threat
He is always a danger when he can cut inside onto his right foot with either a shot or a disguised through ball
Ethan Wheatley – 7.5 – A well-rounded display up top with some very good hold-up play which was capped off by an exceptional goal that was hit was such venom that the keeper had no chance
Tommy Rowe – 6 – Offered a steady head in midfield and did well mopping up loose balls and keeping possession
Gabriele Biancheri – N/A – Provided an assist despite only playing in the final five minutes and linked well with Mather
Jack Fletcher – N/A – Only came on in stoppage time but was just good to see him back from injury

he landed a dream slot on the undercard of Anthony Joshua v Jermaine Franklin at the O2 Arena
where he beat Poland’s Daniel Bocianski on points
Hedges returned in February 2024 up at Cruiserweight
producing a clinical second-round stoppage of Erdogan Kadrija before he got the chance to fight Lewis Oakford on the undercard of stablemate Johnny Fisher in July 2024
that day arrives on 17 May at Stratford’s Copper Box Arena
a 7,500-seater venue situated on his doorstep
when he will put it all on the line against Nathan Quarless in an English Cruiserweight Title Eliminator
sitting on a Zoom call in a Manchester hotel room
in a brief break before another gruelling training session under the guidance of British boxing legend Ricky Hatton
Hedges took time out of his busy schedule to discuss his upcoming bout and his support for his beloved Hammers…
I’ve had boxing on the mind since the moment I entered the world
so I’m part of a fighting family and went to West Ham Boxing Club in Plaistow
I used to just come along to the sessions to support my brother
who trained with legendary trainer Mickey May
I liked the whole family buzz of the West Ham Boxing Club
It was one of the toughest boxing clubs in the country
Tell us about your rise to Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing
I had a good amateur career, and I was never beaten abroad. I was in the same age group coming through as [fellow West Ham fan] George Liddard
so we’d been on the Team England team for six years and were always together
I had 44 fights as an amateur and won 40 and many nationals
I automatically qualified to box for Team England
There’s a lot of pride in representing Team England in all different countries across the world
because it’s something I never probably thought I’d ever achieve
I signed with Matchroom Boxing on my debut
and I wasn’t ever thinking about turning professional
so my management team put an offer to Eddie [Hearn]
You’ve featured on Anthony Joshua’s and Filip Hrgović’s undercards
I must have boxed in front of about 12,000 or 13,000 people
so it was completely different from what I’d been used to
you picked up your first professional title
It has taken the pressure off now because I’ve got my first title
and I’ve proved to myself that I can win a belt
I fought someone with a good winning record who came to fight
How excited are you to be fighting in an English Cruiserweight Title Eliminator later this month
I’ve moved up to Manchester temporarily to work with Ricky Hatton
who is one of the toughest trainers in the country
so I’m definitely leaving no stone unturned
He (Nathan Quarless) has got a record of 13 wins and one loss
so he’s got a good bit of age and experience on me
we’re going out there to do a proper job on him and to prove that we’re up there with English and British level now
If there was such a thing as a local home place for me to fight
it’s literally across the road from London Stadium
If you’re not in boxing to be a world champion
But I’ve always said I want to be a prizefighter
I don’t want to be one of those ones who slips away abroad and just do that to get a ranking
I want to be in good fights where the British public are getting behind me
it’s sometimes not always about what you win
If I can grab the British title by next year
It all started because of my brother boxing for West Ham Boxing Club
so everything in our house was basically Claret and Blue
Kevin Mitchell was part of the gym and had one of the best West Ham followings
especially when he boxed at the Boleyn Ground in May 2010
was what made me the West Ham supporter I am today because we were ringside at Kevin’s fight that night.

meaning next season’s 130-year anniversary strip will be Umbro’s last for now
If Graham Potter wasn’t already under enough pressure to get West Ham back on track next season
It’s been a torrid start to life in east London for Potter with three wins from his first 15 games
The Englishman has been given grace by West Ham supporters until he has his own team in place after the summer transfer window
expectations will be to get the Hammers back in contention for a top half finish at the very least
With the club currently 17th in the Premier League table
Additional pressure will be applied given it is a milestone year for the club
Founded as Thames Ironworks in 1895
the club officially became West Ham on July 5th 1900
The Hammers faithful West Ham are fiercely proud of their history and roots
And it’s not just Potter they will be expecting big things from but Umbro too
Hammers supporters will want to see something a bit special for the 130-year anniversary
There has been much speculation over West Ham’s kit manufacturer over the last few years
Rumours of a switch to Nike for the first time or back to Adidas have circulated
Current kit maker Umbro have faced plenty of criticism in the past too
The firm did redeem itself somewhat with this season’s kits which have – on the whole – been very well received
Umbro has made kits for West Ham United across several periods in the club’s history – including the their first ever replica shirts
West Ham’s deal with Umbro, which began in 2015
was extended in a long-term agreement and then renewed again behind the scenes for another year in 2023
Earlier this season it was revealed the Hammers had been in talks with several kit manufacturers about a move away from Umbro
The club is said to have been reviewing the market by talking to the other major brands who make Premier League strips
Puma and Macron in addition to Nike and Adidas
Umbro are into the last season of their West Ham deal next term
And West Ham’s 130-year anniversary kit will be Umbro’s last as a deal is agreed with top US brand New Balance
Sport Business has exclusively revealed that West Ham snubbed Castore – who had major issues with their Villa and Newcastle kits in recent times – in order to sign a long-term contract with New Balance
making next term Umbro’s last of the current arrangement
New Balance were previously Liverpool’s kit manufacturers and West Ham have agreed a deal for a minimum of five years
As things stand the Hammers will be the only club in the Premier League with New Balance as their kit maker
New Balance have a large store in Westfield Stratford
Umbro physically produced West Ham’s first kits for sale to fans – as well as England during the same period
But this was without any Umbro branding on the kits
Admiral was the first official kit manufacturer for West Ham United
kits were largely produced without brand recognition
introducing their iconic three stripes to the West Ham kit
creating kits that were notably distinct from the Adidas era
Bukta came in after Scoreline and produced kits with a simpler design
producing kits during West Ham’s return to the Premier League era
Fila replaced Pony and provided the kits for the early 2000s
including the 2002-03 season when West Ham were relegated
providing kits during the Hammers’ rise back to the Premier League
including their 2006 FA Cup final appearance
supplied the West Ham kits during this period
Macron provided West Ham kits during the years of their promotion back to the Premier League under manager Sam Allardyce
Adidas returned to West Ham for a brief period
producing kits that celebrated the club’s 2015 departure from Upton Park
Umbro returned in 2015 and is the current kit supplier for West Ham
creating kits as the club moved into the London Stadium and establishing a long-term partnership
The firm will make its final West Ham kit next season until at least 2031-32
Top US brand signs up to five-year deal for first time
Alongside head of recruitment Kyle Macaulay and de facto director of football David Sullivan, West Ham boss Graham Potter is said to be planning a huge turnaround
A top West Ham source claimed this week that as many as 16-18 players could be shipped out with up to eight signings wanted
After promising to look to the club’s Academy before turning to the transfer market
Potter is also expected to promote a number of emerging Hammers stars to the first team squad
Midfield is widely recognised to be West Ham’s biggest problem
A hodge podge mix of players who don’t complement one another at all is the unfortunate legacy of a mixture of David Moyes, Tim Steidten and Julen Lopetegui
The middle of the pitch sorely lacks pace and dynamism
At least one or two young box-to-box midfielders are needed to help transform an ageing and immobile midfield
Angel Gomes and Ezechiel Banzuzi were big targets of Potter and Macaulay
But both are moving elsewhere with Edmonton-born Gomes keen on joining Spurs and Banzuzi having already signed for RB Leipzig
More tenacity and guile is needed in central midfield next season
Lewis Orford and Freddie Potts as potential graduates to step up should he deem them ready
a highly-rated young midfielder could now form a big part of Potter’s rebuild
And the 49-year-old has had nothing to do with it
Because an exciting star has helped his club make history and will now join West Ham as a forgotten parting gift
When references are made to last summer’s £155m transfer splurge it is often stated Steidten and Lopetegui spent £155m on nine signings
While strictly true in terms of players brought in for the first team
And that 10th capture could turn out to be the biggest gem of them all
West Ham announced the signing of Mohamadou Kante from Ligue 2 club Paris FC for a reported £500k towards the end of last summer’s window
West Ham United have signed promising French midfielder Mohamadou Kanté from Ligue 2 club Paris FC ⚒️The 18-year-old joins the Club on a five-year contract and will return to Paris FC on loan for the 2024/25 season. pic.twitter.com/O0cjSevy0p
rangy young box-to-box midfielder has all the ingredients in his game the Hammers are missing
It says everything about West Ham’s high hopes for Kante that they signed him up to a five-year deal as he was loaned back to Paris FC for the 2024/25 season
The French capital club were so angry at losing him for such a low fee
they initially punished the 19-year-old by freezing him out of the first team setup
And Kante worked his way back into the mix over the season
culminating with him coming off the bench to help Paris FC to a 1-1 draw at Martigues as they made history by sealing promotion to Ligue 1
The club has a massive stadium ready for their elevation to the French big time – right on the doorstep of city rivals PSG
But Kante will be plying his trade at the London Stadium next season as he now joins West Ham in a forgotten parting gift from Steidten
Potter and Macaulay are specifically targeting younger talent to drive down the age of West Ham’s squad – the oldest in the Premier League
who has a similar playing style and strengths to Aston Villa’s Amadou Onana
And with Potter reportedly planning to offload so many players – and completely revamp his midfield – the French starlet may find himself part of the first team squad from the off
First Moyes then Steidten promised to emulate the famous Red Bull model at West Ham
The Kante deal is very much in line with that approach and there’s no lack of irony that he’s coming from a Red Bull club
West Ham fans will be fascinated to see how he looks in pre-season.
