TRIPLE DOUBLE A has thrived in handicaps in cheekpieces this season and can complete a quick-fire hat-trick
He made little impact in three starts in maiden/novice company last season
he was well backed on his handicap debut and reappearance at Redcar two weeks ago and rewarded that support with a decisive victory
He followed up under a penalty with an even better performance at Yarmouth last Thursday
and he looks up to defying another penalty
Sharma d’Amour showed much improvement when making a successful handicap debut at Lingfield last month and could be the one for the forecast spot
boasts an eye-catching pedigree as he’s out of Group 1 winner Ribbons and is a half-brother to a smart sort in 2023 Melbourne Cup runner-up Soulcombe
Scoville is in excellent hands with William Haggas and is taken to make a winning debut
Vecu failed to match his juvenile form when only third on his reappearance at Chelmsford last month
but he wasn’t seen to best effect there from a wide draw
and he’s likely to put up a better showing here
FORAGER looks on a fair mark based on the pick of her juvenile efforts
notably a runner-up effort at Lingfield off this mark on her penultimate start
and she will have the assistance of Tom Marquand in the saddle for the first time
Forager gets the vote over The Feminine Urge
who has been placed on her last couple of starts and should give another good account
FLEETWATER shaped well when runner-up on her reappearance and handicap debut at Kempton last month
finding only an improving rival too strong
and she looks likely to go well off just a 1 lb higher mark
Her record at Windsor is also a positive as she won a novice and was then runner-up under a penalty on her two previous attempts over this course and distance
Distant Rumble was a comfortable winner over course and distance last week
ASINARA shaped well when third on her return at Haydock last month and can take a step forward with that outing under her belt
Asinara travelled well at the head of affairs in the centre group but a lack of a recent run seemed to tell late on as she was headed approaching the final furlong
KINGKEERstill looked a bit rough around the edges when fourth at Salisbury on his final start last season
but he remains relatively unexposed and with the potential to do better as a four-year-old
He has been gelded since last seen and makes his return to action with trainer Hughie Morrison’s horses in good form
so it’s worth taking a chance that this well-bred and lightly raced sort can take a step forward
Golden Circet had the run of the race when scoring at Bath a couple of weeks ago
HARLINGTON won at Wolverhampton in November and has largely held his form well since
finishing in the frame on his six subsequent starts
He has been eased 1 lb since finishing third at Bath a couple of weeks ago and has Rossa Ryan taking over in the saddle
Curtiz needs to bounce back from a below-par effort at Wolverhampton last time
but had been runner-up at Chelmsford prior to that and is respected on that form

Dungannon Swifts players lift the Irish Cup for the first time in their history
Dungannon's Andrew Mitchell celebrates his side's goal with Steven Scott Photo by David Maginnis/Pacemaker Press
Dungannon's James Knowles blocks a shot by Cliftonville's Joe Gormley
Cliftonville manager Jim Magilton with Cliftonville players Joe Gormley and Rory Hale pictured along with Dungannon Swifts boss Rodney McAree and Dungannon players Andrew Mitchell and John McGovern
Rodney McAree’s Dungannnon Swifts wrote their own little chapter in the history books by winning the Clearer Water Irish Cup for the first time in their history following a dramatic Final against Cliftonville at Windsor Park
played out in front of a 12,766 frenzied crowd – goals
flying tackles and a controversial sending off
The teams couldn’t be separated after 120 minutes of unmissable action
Transfer magnet John McGovern headed the Swifts into a first half lead – one they held until injury time when Shea Kearney levelled with a scorching drive
The game’s big talking point arrived 21 minutes from time when Swifts defender Steven Scott was dismissed for a challenge he literally didn’t make
Having soaked up relentless pressure when down to 10 men in extra time
the Swifts managed to take the game to a penalty shootout – and the drama continued
It was goalkeeper Declan Dunne who emerged the hero
brilliantly saving spot kicks from Kearney and Luke Conlon
Adam Glenny and Brandon Bermingham all netted expertly for Rodney McAree’s team
Jonny Addis and Jack Keaney replaying for the Reds
It was 10-man Dungannon’s day – and how they enjoyed it at the finish when they took hold of the coveted trophy
They can now also look forward to appearing in European football next season
fitting of the showpiece fixture of the season
Dungannon manager Rodney McAree and goalkeeper Declan Dunne celebrate
with the Cliftonville half of the ground disappearing under a cloud of red smoke from the many pyrotechnics that were ignited
when the national anthem was blasted out over the tannoy system
Cliftonville fans again showed their displeasure by booing throughout
Referee Ian McNabb also arrived in the centre circle without the match ball
The Reds had an early let-off when Alves’ corner kick was flicked on by Andrew Mitchell and Conlon almost turned the ball into his own net at the back post
It was hardly surprising because the stakes were high
Magilton’s team responded with a cleverly worked free kick after Steven Scott cynically hauled down Conlon
Shea Gordon and Conlon combined to set up Ryan Curran
But it was the blue end of the ground that erupted with that opening goal on 23 minutes
The experienced James Knowles whipped in a corner from the left and McGovern got up above everyone else to power home a header
although Reds’ goalkeeper David Odumosu hardly covered himself in glory
For once the Red Army was stunned into silence
although they were on the edge of their seats when Danny Wallace’s poor defence header was gobbled up by Ryan Curran and
he managed to cut the ball back to Joe Gormley
But it was the Swifts who almost nicked another goal just after the half hour
Kealan Dillon send Alves into the left channel
who hammered a right-footed drive just over the top
As the half-time clock ticked down McAree’s team had another sniff at goal
This time Odhran Casey clumsily clipped the free-running Adam Glenney just outside the box
Knowles took on the free kick responsibility that had the big former Dundalk shot-stopper at full stretch
It was the Swifts who roared from the traps after the restart
Cliftonville Shea Kearney celebrates his equaliser with teammate Eric McWoods
Dean Curry was only inches away from heading his team’s second goal when he met a Knowles corner kick
the ball creeping wide with Odumosu scampering across his line
Magilton’s patience finally snapped and he made a double change 10 minutes after the break introducing Alex Parsons and Axel Piesold for Curran and Gordon
the Reds at last began to show some urgency at the other end
Gormley managed to knock the ball across the box to Kearney
The game erupted for all the wrong reasons when Scott was dismissed when Hale went down
but the Dungannon man can certainly feel hard done by
Magilton brought on Eric McWoods and wonder kid Ryan Corrigan in a bid to salvage the situation
they were almost back in it eight minutes from time
Hale pinged over a corner from the left that was met by Conlon
whose header clipped the top of the crossbar
The Reds piled forward and Piesold thought he had levelled on 90 minutes when his blockbuster from the edge of the box brought an unbelievable reaction save from Dunne
Bigirimana’s clearance broke to Kearney 25-yards out and his bullet fizzed into the bottom corner
much to the delight of the Cliftonville masses
Dunne again came to the Swifts rescue in the fifth minute of extra time
the big shot-stopper was at it again in the second period when Piersold’s cross was only half cleared by Curry to Hale
whose piercing shot was brilliantly beaten out by Dunne
McWoods thought he had won it for the Reds when he latched on to another Hale corner only to see his effort headed off the line by Bigirimana – incredible
it was down to that dramatic penalty shootout – take a bow Mr Dunne

A man from Windsor is set to embark on a group cycling trip to Corfu this May to raise funds for Cure Parkinson’s
Richard Downs was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in September last year and is set to join a group of 25 family and friends for the trip
Described as being ‘like a second home’ to him
Corfu was chosen because Richard had family there growing up and had many holidays in the north east of the island
The group will cover a total distance of approximately 175km across three days
Richard said: “I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in September 2024 and I wanted a challenge to focus on that would also raise money to help fight this disease
“Some friends had recently completed a fundraiser for Cure Parkinson's and it seemed the right charity to support
“Whilst it has taken some time to organise
it’s not as hard as you think to pull together everything you need to complete a challenge like this
“I find that friends and family are amazingly supportive
so just make it easy for people to say ‘yes’
He added: “There are three very tough rides in three days
which I am sure will help our aching legs.”
the JustGiving fundraiser has smashed its original £3,500 target by raising more than £4,400

The MG Windsor Pro will be sold alongside the MG Windsor with the smaller battery pack
MG Motor India is set to launch the Windsor Pro, an upgraded variant of its popular all-electric Windsor, on May 6. This new variant marks the most significant update to the model since its launch in September 2024. The Windsor Pro will introduce a larger 52.9 kWh battery pack, offering a notable step up from the 38 kWh unit found in the current model. The MG Windsor Pro will be sold alongside the MG Windsor with the smaller battery pack
While MG has not disclosed the ARAI-certified range for the larger battery
it is expected to offer a considerable improvement over the 332 km figure achieved by the 38 kWh version
The Windsor Pro will continue with a 134 bhp electric motor delivering 200 Nm of torque
is squarely on improving driving range and feature content rather than performance
the Windsor Pro will gain a few key upgrades that broaden its appeal
These include the addition of an ADAS suite
offering advanced driver assistance features
and new vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities—technologies typically seen in more premium EVs
MG has introduced a new set of alloy wheels and a dual-tone black and beige leatherette interior
replacing the all-black theme found in the outgoing model.
The timing of the Windsor Pro’s launch appears strategic
as MG looks to maintain the momentum of the Windsor brand
the Windsor has become a standout performer for the company
with 19,394 units sold in just seven months
it has consistently outpaced its chief rival
which had long dominated the mass-market EV space in India.
The expectation is for a modest price increase over the current ₹14–16 lakh (ex-showroom) range
Given the added battery capacity and feature enhancements
this could still represent strong value—provided the price hike remains within reason.

Thousands of Windsor Enwin customers can expect rebates in their utility charges over the coming months to make up for a data error that caused some property owners to be overcharged
city council heard that overall water usage in the first few months of this year was lower than estimated
Property owners with lower-than-average water usage whose bills should have dropped when the city implemented a new stormwater/wastewater billing system on Jan

When they approved the new billing system last fall
council and Mayor Drew Dilkens had assured residents that they would pay less for utilities
“I apologize for the confusion this has created,” said Dilkens during the council meeting
“All of the people who have been working at the city and involved in this really were striving to get this right
or in any way an attempt to deceive the public
“It literally was a data error on the back end that we now have course-corrected.”
council agreed to change how the city calculates the stormwater fee charged to property owners
1 saw stormwater and wastewater fees separated on Enwin bills
Owners of properties with larger hard surfaces that limit rainwater absorption and create a greater burden on the city’s stormwater system now pay more
residential property owners pay for 42 per cent of the city’s stormwater infrastructure funding
and non-residential properties pay 58 per cent
residential property owners were paying the majority (55 per cent) of the cost
Enwin customers still have a fixed water charge
Fred Francis said he’s “been getting absolutely killed” with emails and phone calls from residents who say they’ve paid more under the new billing structure
“It’s not a matter of finger-pointing or blaming,” Francis said
The solution approved last month won’t help large commercial property owners like Joe Mikhail
who told the Star he expects his Enwin bills to rise by roughly $200,000 this year
his company owns roughly two million square feet of buildings
plus an estimated more than 25 million square feet of property surrounding those buildings
Mikhail said half of his 200 commercial tenants refuse to pay higher bills
has “caused nothing but chaos throughout the whole commercial and real estate industry.”
Mikhail recently invited city officials to one of his properties — a vacant lot on Howard Avenue covered in compacted gravel
and a few trees — to prove that water seeps into the ground
the lot should be exempt from higher stormwater fees now charged for impervious ground covering
City officials encouraged Mikhail to share his concerns with city council
which approved the bylaw that dictates what kind of ground coverings will result in higher fees
“Are you going to cripple the businesses that support our community because they have asphalt in place to bring customers
to bring business?” Mikhail asked during council’s most recent meeting
Mikhail submitted a video to city council of water being poured from a bucket onto the ground on that lot
the water appears to form a stagnant puddle
Deputy city engineer Stacey McGuire said the video shows how water on compacted granular material “will eventually make its way into the (stormwater) system through overland flow” instead of being absorbed into the ground
No one wants to pay more,” Dilkens told reporters following the meeting
“We’re trying to be very responsible and reasonable in the way that we move this forward
“The folks who have properties with big parking lots have been subsidized for many years by homeowners
This is about making sure that people pay their fair share.”

Social media stole the show by unveiling the JSW MG Windsor EV Pro a day before its official launch
with images shared by B Anshuman on Facebook
Here’s everything we know about the Windsor EV Pro so far
Based on reports, the Windsor EV Pro was expected to be powered by a 50.6 kWh battery from its sister company in Indonesia
but the company has now confirmed that it will get a 52.9 kWh battery
It seems that MG has borrowed the battery pack from the ZS EV and plonked it the Windsor EV Pro
It retains the same electric motor with an output of 134 bhp and 200 Nm of torque
it’s obvious that MG has reworked the front fascia of the Windsor EV Pro to make it stand apart from the standard version
though it retains the split headlight design
The side profile of the Pro looks identical except for the newly designed dual-tone alloy wheels that replace the diamond-cut ones
The rear continues to sport connected LED lights
but now it comes with an ADAS badge that’s on the lower right side of the tailgate.
MG has spruced up the cabin and has given it a more premium feel with a dual-tone beige-black finish
It retains features like the 15.6-inch infotainment system
The Windsor EV Pro becomes the second vehicle in this segment to be equipped with ADAS after the Mahindra XUV400. It still offers a comprehensive safety suite
an electronic parking brake with auto hold

non-violent weapons offences or gaming and betting offences
There were 3,209 reported property crimes so far this year
Crimes against people were up 4.4 per cent
while other criminal code violations decreased 5.5 per cent
compared to the first four months last year
Police also broke the statistics down by ward

Liberal Irek Kusmierczyk is asking the courts for a recount in Windsor-Tecumseh-Lakeshore after multiple tabulation errors and a high number of rejected ballots made an already painfully tight race almost too close to call
Kusmierczyk told the Star his team applied for a judicial recount Monday morning after the discovery of 526 rejected ballots and more than 20 “discrepancies” — four of which changed the ballot count by 157 votes
The 526 rejected ballots accounted for “one of the highest totals in the country,” he said
“We had dozens of volunteers serving as scrutineers in polling stations across the region
we know there were ballots that were wrongly counted and wrongly rejected,” said Kusmierczyk
the riding’s Liberal member of Parliament since 2019
simply in how the results were communicated
“It’s how the numbers were communicated to Elections Canada in Ottawa
including four errors that had a material impact on the vote.”
After a standard post-election validation of results last week
the discovery of those four errors alone resulted in Conservative Kathy Borrelli’s lead in the April 28 federal election narrowing from 233 votes to 77
That’s only seven ballots short of the threshold for an automatic judicial recount
Elections Canada’s preliminary results following Monday’s election had Borrelli at 31,901 votes and Kusmierczyk at 31,668
The official count for Borrelli is now 32,062 votes
A judicial recount is automatically triggered when the difference between the two leading candidates is less than one one-thousandth of the total votes cast
“We feel very strongly that we owe it to all residents to make sure that every vote was valid and that every valid vote was counted,” said Kusmierczyk
“This is a process to make sure that we have 100 per cent confidence
that residents have 100 per cent confidence in the outcome of this election.”
Until the counts are confirmed in the validation of votes
election results are considered preliminary
The validated results are considered final
unless changes are subsequently made following a judicial recount or a contested election proceeding
Recounts are currently underway or expected in several other ridings across Canada
including Terra Nova-The Peninsulas in Newfoundland
where winning Liberal candidate eked past the Conservative runner-up with 12 votes
The Montreal-area riding of Terrebonne flipped on Thursday after Elections Canada published validated results for the region that showed the Bloc Quebecois nudged out the Liberals by 44 votes
the validation process ended with Liberals inching past the Conservatives by 29 votes
Elections Canada told the Star last week that the validation of results is a safety measure to catch human error
the local Elections Canada officer receives results from each polling location by phone before entering them into the system
The agency said that staff could mishear a result that was called in or make a mistake entering the data
Windsor-Tecumseh-Lakeshore had 282 polls reporting
Kusmierczyk said such mistakes were what led to the four “significant” errors that changed the vote by 157 ballots
some of which Kusmierczyk feels were wrongly rejected
Kusmierczyk said someone wrote an X in the circle next to his name
then wrote a second X next to his name outside the circle
the intent of the voter is clear,” he said
The next step in Kusmierczyk’s application will be a judicial hearing
His team must present evidence before a judge
who will decide if a recount should proceed
That hearing had yet to be scheduled Monday morning
“I want to make this absolutely clear as well,” said Kusmierczyk
unequivocally accept the results of the judicial recount.”

The company released a teaser confirming ADAS features as it prepares to strengthen its flagship EV’s appeal amid growing competition
The Level 2 ADAS package in the Windsor PRO will offer 12 core features and deliver feedback through audio, visual, and haptic alerts. Notable systems include Traffic Jam Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Lane Departure Warning, which are typically found in higher-end segments. This move signals MG’s intent to make such features more accessible in the mass EV market, placing added emphasis on proactive safety rather than reactive intervention.
Beyond safety, the Windsor PRO will also introduce utility-oriented technologies such as Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging. These systems allow the EV to supply power to external devices or even other electric vehicles, pushing its use beyond daily commuting into more flexible real-world applications.

after a year that has seen her return to the public eye with dignity and grace following the death of her husband
Lady Gabriella (or ‘Ella’ to her nearest and dearest) is surely still heartbroken
but the King’s cousin has spent the last twelve months supported by her royal relatives
and campaigning to ensure her husband’s death leads to fundamental medical changes
As her family no doubt gathers to celebrate Lady Ella’s birthday
one year on from the tragedy that rocked their household
they will also be looking back on a year that has seen the musician and author continue her husband’s legacy of hard work and diligence with grace
Thomas Kingston and Lady Gabriella Kingston at the Committal Service for Queen Elizabeth II on 19 September 2022 – Buckingham Palace confirmed Kingston's death on 27 February, 2024
Princess Michael offered a moving insight into the happy times that Ella and Thomas had spent at the Palace
The royal family gathered around to support Lady Gabriella following her husband's tragic death, with Zara Tindall welcoming Ella to Acscot with a warm embrace
Revisit Tatler’s September 2024 issue, where the hottest chef on the planet spoke to Harriet Kean about working for a billionaire, that scandal and butter (of course)
Ella was also pictured alongside Peter Phillips and the late Queen’s former racing manager
December saw an inquest into the cause of Thomas’s death, with Katy Skerrett, senior coroner for Gloucestershire
telling the court that he ‘was suffering adverse effects of medication he had recently been prescribed’ at the time
Skerrett went on to read a statement from Ella
in which she said: ‘If anything had been troubling him
I’m positive that he would have shared that he was struggling severely
The fact that he took his life at the home of his beloved parents suggests the decision was the result of a sudden impulse.’
Gabriella went on to describe their marriage as ‘deeply loving and trusting’ and said that her husband had never expressed any suicidal thoughts to her or others
She concluded with a call for further education as to the potential effects of antidepressant medication
‘I believe anyone taking pills such as these need to be made more aware of the side effects to prevent any future deaths
turned to Lady Gabriella for supporting in organising her ‘Together At Christmas’ carol service in December
with Ella arriving alongside Carole and Michael Middleton for the concert at Westminster Abbey
A friend of Gabriella's told the newspaper: ‘She was very touched and grateful to the Princess to be asked to contribute to her very special concert and felt honoured to do so.’ Both Gabriella and Kate are around the same age, and both have endured an extremely challenging year.
Lady Helen Taylor and Lady Gabriella Windsor arrive for the Together at Christmas carol service
Melanie Hamrick has hung up her ballet shoes, but she’s not standing still. Between raising her son with Mick Jagger and choreographing a Rolling Stones ballet, she’s written two racy novels. In Tatler’s October 2024 issue, Rachel Johnson met Melanie
Kate, who was diagnosed with cancer in early 2024, said in a video introduction to the televised service: ‘This carol service is a heartfelt celebration of every one of you
The process of planning the music for Catherine’s concert seems to have inspired a new project for Ella. A year after her husband’s death, she was named patron of the charity Restore the Music, which aims to support music departments in state schools
It was not her first collaboration with the charity: some of the musicians who benefit from the work of Restore the Music performed at the royal carol service she had helped to organise
‘It will be such an honour to serve as patron of this exceptional charity.’
Music has always been a passion for the much-loved royal
who has previously made her own forays into the world of jazz recording
the royal released two Bossa Nova-inspired tracks – titled ‘Out of the Blue’ and ‘Bam Bam’ – under the name Ella Windsor in support of the Playing For Change Foundation
but never imagined I would become involved with it like this – releasing my own songs.’
Lady Gabriella Windsor previously showcased her musical ability when she tied the knot to the late Thomas Kingston in 2019
Lady Gabriella’s friends and family would not have been surprised to learn that she has a virtuoso streak
The royal serenaded guests with a song at her wedding reception in 2019
when she tied the knot with Kingston in front of Queen Elizabeth II and A-list stars like Anne Hathaway
Reflecting on her performance to the outlet
It was a day of so many nerve-racking moments that I thought
This birthday could well be a difficult time for Lady Gabriella Windsor
surrounded by the support of her family and buoyed by her dedication to causes close to her heart
it seems that the royal will continue to embody the Princess of Wales’s sentiment that we are all each other’s light

It delivers education to 10,000 primary and secondary students from a range of socio-economic backgrounds — including many who live in the top 1% of the country’s highest-need areas
Since growing from just one institution to now 15
Windsor’s mission has been to bolster underperforming schools and give all students access to technology and learning
WAT deploys iPad to teachers and students — which school leaders say is helping to drive better academic results
Many of Windsor’s teachers attribute this success to the use of iPad in formative assessment
to pose questions about academic subjects and assess their students’ level of understanding
teachers can see all of their students’ screens at once
allowing them to monitor responses and understand immediately if they need to cover a previous topic again
This also helps educators identify any students who may need additional time understanding a subject

Apple Professional Learning offerings have also been instrumental in facilitating educator support and development
Teachers across schools take advantage of the Apple Teacher programme to build their knowledge about how to best use iPad for education
They are also encouraged to collaborate on lesson plans at regular professional learning sessions where they share best practices and resources with one another
Some educators throughout Windsor are also Apple Learning Coaches who help their colleagues get the most out of Apple technology in the classroom

A Windsor restaurant is gearing up for a busy Cinco de Mayo celebration on Monday.
May 5 marks the annual celebration of Mexico's victory over the Second French Empire at the Battle of Puebla in 1862.
Owner of Mi Casita Restaurant & Bar, 429 Wyandotte Street East, Santos Ortiz, says they are ready to offer patrons the full cultural experience.
"We've been through this 15 years now, so we're always fully aware, prepared and ready to try and give the best service possible," he said. "Everybody is trying to have a good time, so we've got all the margaritas ready, the mojitos ready, tequila's ready, and we usually have a DJ coming out."
Ortiz says the restaurant will offer a special Cinco de Mayo menu.
"Because we are so busy, we want to be able to get the food out in a timely order, and so we basically pick the favourites that we know that people generally love to order," he said.
Ortiz says it will be walk-ins only for Cinco de Mayo on Monday.
"We welcome everybody, it doesn't matter how big your party is," said Ortiz. "We also hope to have the patio open this year, looks like the weather might be able to help us out again. It's been open the last couple of years so we're able to cater to a much bigger public."
Ortiz says Mi Casita is generally closed on Monday's, but they are making an exception for 2025, and will open their doors from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The colourful day-long celebration kicked off with the grand entry and then about three dozen traditional dancers clad in feathered regalia dancing clockwise around five drum circles at the St
We want to let the world know that we are here
The event drew participants from Indigenous communities across the region — some from as far away as the Toronto area — and included dancers as young as toddlers alongside elders

There are increased complexities associated with potential regulatory divergence between the UK and the EU when the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency takes over responsibility for UK-wide new drug approvals from January 2025
agreed between the UK and the EU in February 2023
is expected to be fully implemented on 1 January 2025
The agreement seeks to resolve some of the issues with the Northern Ireland Protocol identified by businesses and communities
but the new framework does not entirely replace all the protocol’s provisions
The new Labour government has continued progress towards implementation of the Windsor Framework
Just before the summer parliamentary recess
updates were made to the Human Medicines Regulations (HMR) legislation to enable the implementation of the framework
The Windsor Framework ensures that the MHRA
will be responsible for licensing innovative medicines in Northern Ireland (NI) as well as the rest of the UK
pan-EU centralized marketing authorizations issued by the European Commission apply to NI
These new provisions will only apply to medicines
The Windsor Framework requires a reclassification of medicines supplied to the UK
with a new two-category system being introduced under which some UK medicines will remain subject to certain EU regulations:
While this reclassification is necessary for the government to comply with the requirements of the Windsor Framework agreement
the ABPI believes it adds complexity and there may be other consequences as a result of regulatory divergence over time
Where companies have large and diverse portfolios
a two-category system might create a complex landscape as different products may be subject to different regulations
it is currently unclear what future divergence between UK and EU regulations will look like
and whether this will add even further complexity
Both the MHRA and the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) have stated that mechanisms will shortly be introduced that provide a forum for the UK and EU to discuss any issues of divergence in regulations
further details on this are yet to be published
Many of the changes brought about by the Windsor Framework do not apply to products already on the market in Great Britain (GB) and NI
licensed medicines packed and released for distribution before 1 January 2025 can remain unchanged and in circulation until expiry
medicines must be labelled "UK Only" to prevent the inadvertent flow of UK products from Northern Ireland to the EU
A number of other changes to existing procedures that are intended to protect the integrity of the EU market will also go live in January
including the removal of the requirement for packs released after 1 January 2025 to be uploaded to the European Medicines Verification System (EMVS)
The ABPI and other trade associations successfully advocated for a number of flexibilities to be in place to support companies in managing this transition
The MHRA continues its phased work of updating guidance materials with support from trade associations
We know from conversations with ABPI members that they are progressing their obligations depending on the nature of their product portfolio and planned labelling notifications as well as engagements with the MHRA
The ABPI continues to support member companies and encourages them to notify us of any issues or challenges
How regulation can help to unlock the potential of preventative medicines

I used to love coming to Windsor on Monday nights with Dave Phillips
there was competitive racing and good money flying about
with the added bonus of cash wages after an expensive weekend
We didn’t use to come to the first few though
Dave’s reasoning that they started too early and people couldn’t come writes SIMON NOTT
That 1990’s reasoning might still be true and the first race was very thin as far as bets went
Kaan and Sophie betting number six on the rail only managed to take £640 with the biggest bet the last in the book £100 on the 4/1 jolly Valsharah
The bogie was slowly away over the flying 6f and was never in it
apart from staying on late to finish third at 10/3
none of them saw which way the 11/1 winner Distant Rumble went – and he won convincingly
the book held just £534 despite a short one in 13/8 favourite Al Shababi
despite there being a couple of lumpers in evidence
I got talking to Mark from near Newmarket who likes to read the blogs
celebrating Star Sports only doing £78 on a 13/8 into 5/4 stick on
people who wanted to be had started to appear
but the field money had passed the £1000 mark for the first time today
Feature of the race was the weakness of Oisin Murphy’s Sea Founder
it was unfounded and a bonus to BOG punters
The book lost £867 which put the firm £400 behind
‘Decent slippage though’ was Kaan’s ever-optimistic summing up of the race
Next up and the shortest market leader of the evening so far
A regular punter stepped in and bet a grand at the price
contributing into a book that held £1488 at the off and was the only bet of interest
Just the one bet was interesting enough when it won though
The fifth race was the busiest so far with a fair spread of horses laid
It took a while for Kaan and Sophie to get the jolly Promethean into the book
a punter was tempted in by the 6/4 winking at him and bet £1200 – £800 as the horses were going in the stalls
the bogie was unplaced behind the 7/1 winner Expert Witness
Apart from it’s generally good to have the jolly in the frame for the place book
headed in the pecking order by a wager £800- £100 each-way ensured that the ‘result’ was a loser for £783
Next up and the bet numbers continued to be OK but to small stakes
there was steady betting from the punters whilst never putting the dynamic duo of Sophie and Kaan under the cosh
The biggest bet in this race was a carpet £300 at 11/4 Kinetic where they struggled to field a grand
the hod held £972 with the jolly losing £906 and Queens Company £133
but not as bad as some in-running layers had been having
I’m told the winner traded at 540/1 in running
the penultimate Oisin Murphy was on Paragon looking for a treble
the combination was supported from 6/4 into 11/8 but not to money
The biggest bets in a book that did exceed the grand mark were £100 each-way on a couple of middle pins
at 15/2 Mr Ubiquitous and Ceira G at 14/1 and a £700 – £100 Blue Train
Those bets wouldn’t have made the Racing Post 30 years ago but are the reality of tonight’s business
the book held £1407 with several horses glowing red so it was sit tight and hope time
Mr Ubiquitous won the race by a nose from Blue Train
the winner was the lesser of the two losers involved in the finish
Going into the last the firm were doing £3300 which given the business looked an insurmountable sum
but Sophie and Kaan were going to give it a go
it appeared that business had significantly dwindled though Kaan clung onto the hope that there might be a losing lump lurking to hopefully save the day
The bets were hardly pouring in but there was an interesting conversation taking place in front of the joint
but I just hope the chap getting a bit personal with the ladies wasn’t on a work’s do
or he could find himself cancelled in the morning
‘What he didn’t see a problem with’ might be argued by the ladies
£1500 – £150 each-way Secret Handsheikh and £1400 – £100 each-way Some Nightmare
at the off there was £1312 in the hod so a losing night was assured
Bang On The Bell won the race at 9/2 copping £405 in the win book – Aye Aye
then the places were put in and that win was reduced to losing £113
‘Just one of those days’ was Kaan’s stoic response
but if Dave Phillips’ reason was still correct
the business actually bode well for the forthcoming season here at Windsor
I’m at Cheltenham on Friday for their best meeting of the season

It's Emergency Preparedness Week across Canada
The week long awareness initiative is an opportunity for you to take action to ensure you're prepared to protect yourself
your family and your community during an emergency
The provincial theme for 2025 is "Plan for Every Season."
The concept embodies the unique challenges Windsorites face on a seasonal basis: from spring storms to summer heatwaves and high winds to winter snow and ice
Emergency Planning Officer with Windsor Fire & Rescue Services says there is no shortage of reasons to plan to protect your family and property
and you can do so by building an emergency kit
"Keep in mind the specific needs that your family has
making sure that you have basic necessities in that kit that during an emergency
different items like that," Bertram said
along with Windsor Police Service and Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is taking part in the first-ever province-wide campaign to tackle 9-1-1 misuse
an issue that continues to strain emergency services
Bertram says officials are trying to educate the public on proper use of the 9-1-1 emergency service 'When Every Second Counts'
"9-1-1 is for life-threatening or urgent emergencies
and if you're calling for instance for noise complaints
that would be the non-emergency line," she said
The Windsor Police Service non-emergency line is 519-258-6111
and the Windsor Fire & Rescue Services non-emergency line is 519-258-4444
The city offers its own alert program called 'Windsor Alerts' that provides updates
warnings and instructions during times of crisis
Bertram says city residents can register their address
and those who work in the city can register their work address as well
"It's specific to the location that you are putting
so there could be an alert that goes out that's sent to all of the users
or there could be an alert that only affects a specific area of Windsor
and so we geolocate the users that are signed up in that area," said Bertram
Signing up for the free 'Windsor Alerts' program is as easy as going to WindsorAlerts.ca or by calling 3-1-1

waste and enforcement visited Windsor town centre to engage with residents and businesses directly and clear waste
picking litter and removing graffiti and fly-posting
Windsor town centre businesses were reminded of their responsibilities to manage their commercial waste along with the steps to take to make sure all their waste is stored
Environmental Health teams also carried out checks on food businesses
Town centre residents were also reminded about dealing with their domestic waste
with advice and information on what can and can’t be recycled in the borough sent to properties
making it easier for them to manage waste correctly
This follows the crackdown in Maidenhead town centre earlier this year
which has led to 11 fines being issued to residents and businesses
Fly-tipping is a serious criminal offence that risks a fine of £400
Cabinet Member for Household and Regulatory Services
said: "Fly-tipping spoils everyone's enjoyment of our town and poses risks to public health and safety
We are determined to crack down on this antisocial behaviour.
“The council’s targeted action shows that we’re proactively working to prevent fly-tipping in the borough and have reminded residents and businesses of the role they play in keeping our spaces clean.”
Residents are able to let the council know if they see fly-tipping in the area, or even someone dumping their rubbish so that it can be investigated and in some cases prosecuted, via the report it section of our website
