Print A man struck people with his vehicle Sunday at Canyon RV Park in Anaheim
shot at them and then turned the gun on himself
were taken to a hospital with gunshot wounds and their conditions were unknown
A fourth victim sustained minor injuries and remained on scene
Orange County sheriff’s public information officer Gerard McCann said it was “not believed to be a terrorist attack
but an isolated incident between people who knew each other.”
In a video posted on the social media platform X
McCann said the suspect appears to have gotten into an altercation with people at the recreational vehicle park
left and then returned to assault them with his car and a firearm
At the time of the shooting, the park was hosting a four-day event for Volkswagen enthusiasts called “Air Cooled Mardi Gras Picnic Weekend.”
Andrea Montano told KTLA-TV that she had been attending the event for years with her family and had never seen anything like what occurred Sunday.

anticipation is at an all-time high following an offseason packed with blockbuster trades
With championship contenders reloading and rebuilding teams on the rise
the power balance across the league is shifting
From seasoned superstars to breakout rookies
Here’s how all 13 teams stack up in our 2025 WNBA preseason power rankings
Let’s start this power rankings with the last-placed Golden State Valkyries
This placement in the rankings has nothing to do with the team
expansion franchises don’t thrive in their first year
It’s hard to take something like that and make it successful
they might surprise everyone and move up as the season progresses
Live stream the 2025 WNBA season on Fubo: Start your free trial now!
The Washington Mystics are another team to fall down the preseason power rankings
I would have had them a tad higher before their biggest loss of the offseason
depart to the Chicago Sky in the offseason
which will put the pressure to hold the team high on her fellow guard
The Los Angeles Sparks drafted Cameron Brink last season to initiate their rebuild
This offseason marked a transformative period as they aimed to rebound from a challenging 8–32 season
They arguably made the highlight trade of the offseason as they acquired All-Star guard Kelsey Plum from the Las Vegas Aces
2 overall draft pick and center Li Yueru in the process
The acceleration of the rebuild pulls them from the bottom of the league
The Chicago Sky had two of the top picks in the WNBA Draft last season and took the highly publicized Angel Reese and South Carolina’s Kamilla Cardoso
Those two alone make up one of the best frontcourts in the league
Chicago also moved up since the draft after addressing backcourt issues by drafting Reese’s former teammate
They also added Courtney Vandersloot from the reigning champs
She averaged 4.8 assists last year for the WNBA champion New York Liberty
the Dream made significant roster enhancements
They acquired veteran centers Brittney Griner and Brionna Jones
aiming to strengthen a core lineup featuring Rhyne Howard
These moves are designed to propel the team out of mediocrity and into serious playoff contention heading into the 2025 season
The Dallas Wings added the most coveted player of the WNBA Draft in UConn star Paige Bueckers
gives them a boost that puts them from the bottom of the league to the middle
There is still a long way to go for this team to be championship relevant
but they could take a long leap to playoff relevance after finishing 9-31 last season
The Seattle Storm is the ideal “defense wins championships” caliber team
The backcourt speed of Skylar Diggins-Smith and Lexie Brown
and Ezi Magbegor could be an opposing offense’s worst nightmare
the departure of Jewell Loyd will leave a gap that needs to be filled
She averaged a team-high 19.7 points per game last year
The Phoenix Mercury had some interesting departures from last year’s team
including Sophie Cunningham and Brittney Griner
the new-look Mercury could be even tougher to manage this season
They brought in Alyssa Thomas and Satou Sabally to form a “big three” with Kahleah Copper
you can expect a heavy dose of cutting from Copper and dives (and seals) from Sabally to immediately put defenses in a bind
good luck dealing with the collective size and versatility of that trio.”
This is one of the most fun teams to watch and root for
Superstar Caitlin Clark has made the Indiana Fever immediate contenders from the time she was drafted
She will operate again alongside star teammates Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston
I would stick Indiana on the border of the very top of tier two
maybe stretching into the bottom of tier one WNBA teams
Starting our three teams in the first tier
losing to the Liberty three games to two in a best-of-five series
they are back to complete the trophy they so covenantly missed out on
Paired with one of the league’s best shooters in Kayla McBride
The Las Vegas Aces lost in the semifinals of the WNBA Playoffs last season to the Liberty
after winning the 2022 and 2023 WNBA championships and retaining the 2024 WNBA MVP in A’ja Wilson
this team has to be listed among the best in the league
shifts among the stars could hurt Las Vegas
They saw stars depart like Kelsey Plum and Tiffany Hayes
they also brought in All-Star Jewell Loyd and
The New York Liberty begin the 2025 season where they left off in 2024
The big three that had the most impact on the team during that championship run — Breanna Stewart
Jonquel Jones — are all returning for a chance at back-to-back championships
The biggest loss for this team was the Chicago Sky’s biggest acquisition — Courtney Vandersloot
her main contribution of 4.8 assists per game can be picked up by other players

Greene makes history with two HRs in ninth inningTigers slugger first to hit two in the ninth
ANAHEIM -- Riley Greene insists his mind wasn’t on history as the Tigers kept hammering out hits off Angels closer Kenley Jansen
or as he stepped on deck while Spencer Torkelson stepped to the plate against Jake Eder
Jansen entered the game in the top of the ninth inning with the contest tied up at 1-1
and Greene's solo leadoff homer put the Tigers ahead
“I was just thinking, ‘Win the baseball game.’ That's about it,” Greene said after the Tigers’ 9-1 victory Friday night at Angel Stadium
“That was the only thing on my mind: Let's win this game.”
He had already accomplished what many kids dream about
stepping to the plate in the ninth inning and hitting a big home run
Nobody in AL/NL history had actually done it
Greene wasn’t sure his first home run was going to leave the yard
evidenced by when he took off out of the box before it cleared the fence down the right-field line
but it didn't feel too good,” he said of the first homer
“I got out of the box because I needed to get on second or third.”
As he extended the Tigers' lead to 9-1 with a three-run homer when he connected with Jake Eder’s sweeper and sent it soaring into the California night
a Statcast-projected 409 feet to right-center
“The second one felt a lot better,” Greene said
Just two other Tigers had homered twice in any one inning
Greene had grown up watching Magglio Ordonez
who homered twice in the seventh inning against the Athletics on Aug
Kaline homered twice in the sixth inning as part of a three-homer game against the Kansas City A’s on April 17
But while Greene is the 62nd AL/NL player to homer twice in one inning
It’s Greene’s second two-homer game in five days, having gone deep twice in Houston on Monday
He had two home runs for the season before this week and had endured a 1-for-32 stretch over a nine-game period last month
Nobody doubted that Greene would hit his way out of a slump
Now he’s part of history with a two-homer inning
He’s been a featured player on our team,” manager A.J
You want guys to be rewarded whenever they work as hard as they do
The Tigers hit three homers in all off Jansen
the first time the potential future Hall of Famer has allowed that many in a game in his illustrious career
Colt Keith followed Greene’s first drive with an opposite-field shot to left-center for his second home run of the season
Javier Báez hit his third home run in as many days
because we don't want it to get out there
Brdar told us what to do and we trusted him
and [all] our hitting coaches are incredible.”

By the time Greene’s spot came back around, the Tarik Skubal-José Soriano pitching duel that had shaped this game was unrecognizable. Tyler Owens, who flew across the country after being called up from Triple-A Toledo on Thursday and closed out that night’s 10-4 win, was back on the mound to finish this one.
The Tigers had pulled ahead late on Thursday, too, scoring eight runs in the eighth inning. This time, their eight-run ninth included history.
“It's cool,” Greene said, “but we have to show up tomorrow and try to win another baseball game.”
One area of improvement will be the wing posititions
they will need more firepower and depth if they look to make a move next season
As the Sabres look to add more pieces to get over the playoff hump there are plenty of free agents that they could take a look at
that may be an option is left winger Brock Mcginn
The 31-year-old could add much depth to the Sabres if they looked at him as an option
He's had trouble staying healthy but when healthy has been a reliable player on the ice
He's played the majority of his career with the Caroline Hurricanes and has over 150 points in his career
saw him play with the Anaheim Ducks where he missed the majority of all three seasons in California due to injuries
he played in only 26 games but had a plus/minus time of plus one while playing
He provided four gouls and four assists while on the ice
He currently is still out due to an ACL injury and could miss time through the summer
provide much needed depth at the wing position if the Sabres were looking to take a flier on the free agent market
He made around $2.7 million the last four years while with Anaheim
The Sabres could get him for a lower price
which he made be looking at due to his injury issues the last few years
But having a veteran on the ice and serve as a mentor for the younger wingers could be valuable
One of the issues that the Sabres suffered with a season ago was depth
They had standouts such as Alex Tuch and Tage Thompson
and did have strong campaigns from both JJ Peterka and Peyton Krebs
but in terms of offense they need to look past that
McGinn could be worth a look but it depends of how much his ACL would heal up before the start of next season
He has generated over 30 points in a season before and the Sabres could use a few more scorers and more importantly players who can generate those scoring plays
It will be an interesting off season and many players like McGinn should be talked about as options for the Sabres

CA – Orange County Sheriff's Department officials report that on Sunday
Orange County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a shooting at the Canyon RV Park at Featherly Park near the intersection of Gypsum Canyon and the 91 freeway
and the Orange County Fire Authority and Anaheim Fire treated and transported three male adults with gunshot wounds to the hospital
The suspect was one of the men transported with a self-inflicted gunshot wound
A fourth victim was treated at the scene for minor injuries sustained after he was hit by a vehicle
We believe there was a dispute between the suspect and one of the victims earlier in the day
The suspect then returned to the Canyon RV Park and attempted to hit the victim with his vehicle
He then exited the car and began shooting before turning the gun on himself
Initial information leads us to believe this was a personal dispute suspect and victims knew one another
This is not believed to be an act of terrorism
The area is secure and there is no known threat to the community
Anyone with additional information is encouraged to call the Orange County Sheriff's Department at (714) 647-7000. Anonymous tips can be sent to OC Crime Stoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS (855-847-6227) or at occrimestoppers.org.View informational video here

Greg Cronin was recently fired by the Anaheim Ducks
and now he's fired shots at the media for the way he was represented as the teams Head Coach
While the Anaheim Ducks took some steps forward in 2024/25
they still struggled to remain in contention for the Stanley Cup Playoffs
the team quickly parted ways with Head Coach Greg Cronin
That came amidst plenty of criticism for Cronin
who was called out by the media for being old-school
with many that knew of the situation claiming that it wasn't a good time to be in the Ducks locker room
the veteran Head Coach has fired back at those reports
specifically naming the Spittin' Chiclets podcast as one of many media outlets that have maliciously represented him and what he stood for with the Ducks
While there was plenty to criticize Cronin for
it is safe to say that plenty of people in the media took those criticisms further than expected
and whether or not they contributed to his perception in Anaheim among the fans and the front office
but it may have certainly contributed to his firing
Cronin would help this young team take steps forward, with players like Leo Carlsson and Mason McTavish stepping up to become crucial pieces of this Ducks future
the franchise wanted to go in a different direction
and now that's left Cronin looking for a new role in 2025/26 and beyond

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — Riley Greene didn't want to dwell too much on becoming the first player in major league history to homer twice in the ninth inning of a game
The Detroit Tigers' slugger hit a leadoff shot and then added a three-run drive later in the inning in a 9-1 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Friday night
I just found that out — pretty cool,” Greene said after fueling an eight-run
We got to show up tomorrow and try to win another baseball game.”
The score was tied 1-1 when Greene, facing closer Kenley Jansen
led off the ninth with a 371-foot homer off the top of the right-field wall
Colt Keith followed with a homer to left-center for a 2-1 lead
giving Báez home runs in three straight games
Detroit, an American League-best 21-12, wasn’t through. Kerry Carpenter singled, Zach McKinstry doubled
and Carpenter scored on a wild pitch to make it 6-1
Spencer Torkelson walked
crushing a 409-foot homer to right-center off left-hander Jake Eder for a 9-1 lead
Greene became the first Tigers player to hit two homers in an inning since Magglio Ordonez against the Oakland Athletics on Aug
The only other Tigers player to homer twice in an inning was Hall-of-Famer Al Kaline
and he asks for more,” Detroit manager A.J
“You want guys to be rewarded when they work as hard as they do
It was the second straight night in which the Tigers landed a few late-inning haymakers in Anaheim
Detroit scored eight runs on seven hits in the eighth and ninth innings of Thursday night’s 10-4 victory over the Angels
who have lost seven straight and 15 of their last 19 games
“There’s no quit in our team,” said ace Tarik Skubal
who gave up one run and four hits and struck out eight in six innings Friday night
relievers … I know I wouldn’t want to face a lineup like that
While projects of more minor scope have been completed at Honda Center over the years to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars
the building has never had a single major renovation like this one
let alone one that would measure as one of -- maybe the -- largest private investment into a publicly owned arena ever
making him the 101st richest person in the world as of April 29
how they feel about Anaheim and Orange County
how passionately they feel about our fans to make this kind of commitment
“It also creates a tremendous sense of obligation
OCSE has a management contract for the venue in lieu of a traditional lease; the management contract was extended in 2018 through 2064
giving the Samueli family the long-term certainty it needed to commence the development and now the arena renovation
Arena renovation work has already begun with much of the project planned for completion prior to the venue hosting the 2028 L.A
Architectural plans for the second half of the renovation are being submitted this fall
with construction starting in the late spring of 2026
Smith-Clementi has led master planning for the project
with Populous serving as architect of record and Elevate Creative leading interior design
Bob Bangham contributed to the conceptual design and Hathaway Dinwiddie is serving as the contractor
Many of the interior improvements are focused on modernizing an aging building that
Foltz said the upper deck will receive a 60% increase in points-of-sale
and an automated beer pouring setup utilizing ValidFill’s RFID cups and the Micromatic Perfect Draft System
The venue’s several existing clubs will be updated -- brass railings that were beautiful in 1993
All suites will be renovated with the count dropping from 80 to 68 and an increased emphasis on four-person opera boxes instead of 16-person suites
The venue had a huge product gap between general admission and suites that’s being addressed
Nearly $70M of back-of-house work includes creation of a significantly larger underground loading dock
new rigging and trusses to enable bigger shows
in which the cost of certain tickets will include parking
enabling fans to pull into the parking deck without stopping
Besides the improvements to address modern fan experience inside of the venue
Honda Center’s external aesthetics need to be upgraded to match the brand-new development rising up around it
A new five-story southside entryway will serve as the primary venue entrance
connecting to OCVibe and adding another 40,000 square feet of fan space to the interior of the venue as well
Much of the arena’s facade will be draped in a thin LED film
transforming the building’s exterior into a giant screen that could be used for watch parties
let alone setting the mood for a particular event in the building
shiny OCVibe outside and then come into the Honda Center and you didn’t see any change,” said Foltz

#article-stream-0 .subhead3-embed .font-accent{font-family: Graphik,Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif;}Bird's-Eye View: The Anaheim Ducks' home arena
will get a five-story grand entrance as part of a major renovation
Anaheim Arena first opened its doors in June 1993 with a sold-out Barry Manilow concert
it was a state-of-the-art facility with a price tag to match: $123 million
it became home to the NHL’s newest expansion team
But much has changed in the three decades since
Now the building is called the Honda Center
and the last premier musical act to come to town was Justin Timberlake in January
The NHL’s fourth-oldest arena is also starting to show its age
Fans on the upper concourse have to stand in long lines waiting for concessions at the few available vendors
and while four loading docks may have been plenty for Manilow
Timberlake had 25 semitrailers full of equipment (not counting tour buses)
Those are concerning details for microchip billionaire Henry Samueli
who bought the Ducks in 2005 from their original owner
and is planning for the Honda Center to be the centerpiece of a 100-acre entertainment district called OCVibe that he is investing $4 billion into developing
bought the Ducks in 2005 for an estimated $70 million
To ensure the arena lives up to the billing
Samueli is investing an additional $1 billion into major renovations for the Honda Center
Mayor Ashleigh Aitken of Anaheim will announce Tuesday
“They’re pretty ecstatic that we’re putting money
back into that building to extend the usefulness and the life of it,” says Bill Foltz
and we think we shouldn’t wait until OCVibe is built and it’s desperately needed.”
The Ducks are one of only two major professional teams in Southern California to play in a venue owned by their hometown
whose Petco Park is 70% owned by the city of San Diego and 30% by the club
Foltz says Samueli’s investment is among the largest ever by a private individual into a public facility
and the makeover will include a new five-story grand entrance
new escalators and food options for fans in the upper bowl
and—yes—$65 million earmarked for an expansion to 25 loading docks
Construction has already begun and will run for the next three years
With optional extensions extending beyond the current lease agreement
the Ducks could be tied to the arena until at least 2064
The Honda Center's renovation will revamp its premium spaces
including the club shown in this rendering
“We’re going to be here for a long time,” Foltz says
“so it’s really an investment for the next 30 years.”
The project will be entirely funded by Samueli
who cofounded semiconductor manufacturer Broadcom in 1991 and made his fortune when the company went public in 1998 and eventually sold in 2016 to Singapore-based chip firm Avago for $37 billion in cash and stock
bought the Ducks from Disney for an estimated $70 million
the team won its first and only Stanley Cup
Even though the Ducks have now missed the NHL playoffs for seven consecutive seasons
soaring media rights payouts have pushed the team’s valuation to $1.3 billion
29 in the league in home attendance this season
Under the terms of the Ducks’ latest lease
Samueli’s management company receives 47.5% of any arena revenue over $6 million annually
although that number is calculated after investments into facility improvements
100-acre entertainment district called OCVibe
it’s going to be hard for us to ever get our expenses back,” says Michael Schulman
the Ducks’ CEO and OC Sports & Entertainment’s chairman
“Most teams get the city to pay for their arenas
We’re not only not asking for [taxpayer] money
but we’re putting all this extra money into this project that we know we ultimately will not own.”
The real moneymaker for Samueli will be the OCVibe district
with plans for a 50,000-square-foot food hall
a public transit station and 20 acres of parks and plazas
The construction will unfold in phases over the next four years
but the development team has already spent $1 billion in building costs and will complete a new parking garage for the arena this fall
Foltz projects the city of Anaheim will receive $10 million annually in direct tax revenue
primarily from resort-fee-style taxes on hotel room stays
although the hotels are not expected to be completed until late 2028 or beyond
The goal is for most of the other elements to be ready by the summer of 2028
when the Honda Center will host the indoor volleyball competition for the Summer Olympics in nearby Los Angeles
similar entertainment districts—such as the Battery in Atlanta
the Star in Dallas and Titletown in Green Bay—have popped up around sports arenas and stadiums around the country
each hoping to capture more of fans’ spending before and after games
The Samueli family is taking on no outside investment
“It’s really a superpower in our case because it allows us to have everything on the same system,” says Foltz
we can help curate that from arrival to departure
the ability to coordinate things on the outside with the inside.”
Anaheim's Honda Center is poised for a $1-billion makeover courtesy of the Samueli family
announced this week by OC Sports 7 Entertainment which operates the city-owned property
is expected to be implemented incrementally through the 2027
allowing the arena to serve as an event venue in the 2028 Summer Olympics
The Honda Center is to remain open through construction.
“This is more than just an investment in a venue — it’s an investment in Anaheim and the future of Orange County as a global destination for live entertainment,” said OC Sports & Entertainment chief executive officer Bill Foltz in a news release
“Honda Center Encore reflects our commitment to delivering a world-class experience for every guest
every visit — all made possible through the vision and generosity of the Samueli Family.”
Per a news release
Members of the project team include master planners Smith Clementi, Bangmac Creative, Populous
interior design firms Elevate Creative and Studio UNLTD
which will design food service and kitchen spaces
The revamp of the Honda Center emerges as work ramps up for the adjoining OC Vibe development, a $4-billion project which is also being led by the Samueli family. That project will transform the land surrounding the arena into entertainment venues
