Didn't know that visa regime is up once again
and it is not the only one newly introduced...Kuwait
it's almost impossible to obtain..Till last year
I do agree that service quality in Business has improved even more recently
and then anyone else: they are & remain on a league on their own
thank you so much!ps: 14 minutes walk to a gate is not something I would advertise proudly
Before trying to be smart and to say something negative
Knowing the times passengers can hurry up or simply take their time and enjoy shopping. And about 14 minutes
that's really decent time for the airport size of Belgrade
Often on many big airports you can see 30+ minutes
and yes they are all proud of it as it means they are big
^ Υou seem to be mixing airports that transport over 70 million pax a year with BEG.The design of the airport by Vinci makes way too long walking times for an airport that handles 9 million pax a year
Where exactly did you want them to put the gates to decrease walking time
you can request a wheelchair and they will wheel you to the gate so you don't have to walk
I agree that the design of the airport is far from optimal.SJJ for example or ZAG are way more passenger friendly
Maribor and Morava are more passenger friendly
to have this drink again. Thanks for the very detailled report and the information about the lounge passport control.QR remains a first choice airline
The amount of service for a relatively short flight is amazing
Anyone know if they might actually increase Belgrade
They do not have capacity for any increase
They are all busy and thy also have premium heavy cabins.Sadly the previous CEO of the airline did a lot of damage with his fleet strategy
Very nice but it would be even better on a proper widebody jet

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić falls ill during an important visit to the United States. He is urgently returning to Belgrade, reports RTS.
“Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić suddenly fell ill during a visit to the United States, after which he sought medical attention and, after an examination, decided to return to Serbia and is now heading to Belgrade,” the article says.
According to the reporters, “the Serbian president was unable to attend the main events for which he came to America.”
“It was announced that he would also meet with several high-ranking officials of the Republican Party,” the article says.
Vučić felt unwell in the early afternoon local time. At that moment, he was in the room with Finance Minister Siniša Mali and Suzana Vasiljevic, the Serbian president's media advisor. President Vučić was preparing for the next meetings, after meeting with Congressmen Claudia Tenney and Rod Blagojevich and Serbian businessmen from America.
On Thursday, the Serbian president met with former New York City mayor Rudolph Giuliani in Florida.
It was reported earlier that Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić did not abandon his intention to go to Moscow on May 9, saying that he had given his word to Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin.
As the FT wrote, Serbia may not be admitted to the European Union if Vučić goes to Putin's parade.
EU diplomat Kaja Kallas said that the EU would not ignore the possible participation of some European leaders in the May 9 parade in Moscow.

Two arrested in Belgrade drug bustby Ariana St Pierre
Maine (WGME) -- Two Mainers have been charged with drug trafficking after authorities say they raided a home in Belgrade and found fentanyl and other pharmaceuticals
Authorities say they arrested 27-year-old Matthew Lyons and 34-year-old Maryellen Remington
They were both charged with aggravated trafficking schedule W drugs
the MDEA says undercover agents have been buying fentanyl
and crack cocaine from Lyons at his home at 151 Knowles Road in Belgrade
Authorities say they searched the Knowles Road home on Thursday and found 123.7 grams of fentanyl and an assortment of pharmaceuticals
The pair was taken to the Kennebec County Jail
Remington is being held without bail and Lyons’ bail was set at $8,000
The MDEA says Lyons has a prior conviction for unlawful drug trafficking in 2023
In the last episode of our Basketmarket podcast hosted by Orazio Cauchi
we talked about all the latest news and most important rumors regarding the European market of the current and next season
Red Star Belgrade is ready to spend a lot on the market for the next season
between the permanence of Filip Petrusev and the goal Guduric
Below are all the details of the situation
explained in this excerpt from the episode
but overall it was positive for the team coached by coach Sfairopoulos
The Serbian club would obviously like to try to further strengthen the roster for next season
One of the priority objectives of Red Star is to keep Filip Petrusev in Belgrade next season
who arrived this year on loan from Olympiacos
The player is under contract with Olympiacos for next season as well
Filip Petrusev has done very well this year at Red Star
He always feels very comfortable in Belgrade
he has a leading role and Red Star would like to confirm him for next season as well
the Belgrade club must transform the loan transfer into a permanent transfer
Red Star is reportedly ready to make a significant offer to Olympiacos to release the Serbian player from his contract with the Greeks
Red Star is reportedly willing to put on the table a figure greater than a million dollars to release Filip Petrusev from Olympiacos
aware of the fact that the player would like a change of scenery once the season is over
Petrusev would not like to return to Olympiacos because he fears that he would not have the same centrality there as he does in Belgrade
Red Star is actively working with the Greek club to try to redeem the player permanently
But be careful, as we told you in some of the previous episodes, NBA track for Filip Petrusev who is always active
The player himself has stated on several occasions that
if the opportunity to return to the NBA were to present itself again
Petrusev feels that in his first experience in the NBA he was not given a real chance
who immediately traded him after training camp
and then he ended up with the Sacramento Kings
then the Kings cut him and he returned to Europe
Petrusev would therefore like a new opportunity in the NBA.
Red Star is also dreaming of the return to Belgrade of Marko Guduric
a player who has already worn the Red Star jersey in the past and has been one of the technical leaders of Fenerbahce for several years now
The player theoretically has another year of contract with Fenerbahce
but in the summer there is an option to leave on both sides
both on the part of Fenerbahce and on the part of the player
So Guduric will basically be a free agent this summer and will have the opportunity to decide his future
Red Star has begun the convincing operations to bring the Serbian player back to his homeland
Guduric has always remained very close to the Red Star environment and
if there is a club for which he would leave Fenerbahce

chose a design solution that envisages construction in the area of Avala Film
claims Nemanja Plavšić from the initiative "Košutnjak remains"
"The expert jury claims that the chosen solution does not envisage the occupation of new green areas
the citizens are justifiably concerned that the construction will endanger the green fund in this area," Plavšić pointed out and added that this is unacceptable
"We will not allow investor urbanism in Čukarica."
Plavšić pointed out that the fact that the first-prized work is the author's work of the dean of the Faculty of Architecture does not lessen the concerns of citizens
He announced that the "Košutnjak remains" initiative
will closely monitor the development of the situation and strongly react to any threat to the forest fund.

to save this area from possible devastation with the attention of experts from the authorities"
He warned that the citizens will be ready to react if they notice the cutting of forests or other phenomena of devastation of greenery in this part of the city.
Plavšić reminded that last week the Košutnjak remains initiative submitted a criminal complaint to the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade against unknown perpetrators due to illegal forest cutting in Pionirski Grad on Košutnjak.
"We will fight against illegal logging and party tycoons at every point in Belgrade

BELGRADE: Serbia’s President Aleksandar Vucic was admitted to a military hospital in Belgrade on Saturday after cutting short a visit to the United States
Vucic’s hospitalisation comes as he faces a widespread protest movement over a deadly accident at a train station in the northern city of Novi Sad
who according to Serbian media reports cut short his trip to visit US President Donald Trump in Florida after feeling unwell
“was admitted to the Military Medical Academy immediately after landing” in Belgrade
It said it would release more detailed information on Vucic’s health “in good time”

It's good that so many airports are up on last year
Ljubljana finally back to growth as well does make me happy
Should be a good summer for Ljubljanahttps://www.exyuaviation.com/2025/02/ljubljana-set-for-strong-growth-as.html
Strong capacity growth by many airlines serving Split
Split I expect won't grow as fast as it did in the past years
mostly due to capacity constrains and limited room for growth
single airline and apron limit the potential high season capacity to maximum of 150 air operations per day
if they expand the runway and add a taxiway
Also expanding apron/platform further west would add to this capacity issue
airport is expected to handle between 3.85 and 4.0 million this year.Dubrovnik Airport however
3.4-3.5 million passengers highly probable
it could match Split airport and in 2027 it is expected to surpass Split Airport traffic
Zagreb is on the way to 4.8-5.0 million passengers this year
but it is very likelly it'll be a lot more this April
I think it is only in Q2 because of April cuts
Hopefully it’s just a seasonal adjustment
A clear indication that secondary airports like Zadar face a tough time when Ryanair reduces focus
Heavy reliance on one carrier is always risky
50.000 less seats oferred out of one million is peanuts
and does not mean any bubble burst or tough time with FR
it's very much possible these 5 percent less seats is just "fine tuning" which will increase LF and enable further growth in future
instead predicting catastrophy without any ground for it
I think for ZAD overall it will be a good summer
ZAG should be number 1 n Q3 because of the new Croatia Airlines routes
Belgrade will be number 1 in Q3 as Air Serbia will have 5 more scheduled routes
as well as 2 more charter routes during whole Q3
Wizz Air will also have much more frequencies during Q3
It's crazy how much capacity Ryanair is adding in Zagreb with just one new route
Remember that they added a couple of new routes last year which started mis summer
They're boosting capacity on quite a few routes as well
Imagine how big Bravo Hrvatska could it be if Croatia Airlines were real airline with decent network and double bigger fleet using Zagreb as real hub for its coast and entire SE Europe
instead of irrelevant miserable feeder with 13 % of market share 😕
Actually I'm positively surprised by the growth in Nis considering the decline in numbers they are having
So we will see if the capacity increase translates into pax increase
I'm guessing they will start growing again from June
finally the airport and city living up to its potential
Ryanair is clearly making a huge difference in putting the airport back on the map
Sarajevo finally living up to the potential it has (and size)
it was ridiculous that airports like Podgorica
Ljubljana and Skopje had (or still have) more passengers than
Luckily things are settling in its place slowly :)
Mostly because of incompetence of prior management from several years ago
strange that the management that led to this growth were fired last year
Good to finally see some positive numbers for Rijeka
I wonder what Pozdrav from Rijeka has to say about that :D
Speaking growth percentage comparing to last year
Rijeka numbers are very very low and absolutely not satisfactory
If you think Rijeka region should be satisfied having 15 TIMES less passengers than Split
or DOUBLE or TRIPLE less passengers than Niš
you can put not one but much more smileys at the end of your post
Basically 2 out of top 3 airports seeing big growth due to Ryanair
And the entire Ex-Yu is extremely price sensitive
where is KVO capacity increase coming from
Air Serbia has same frequencies as last year
The operating days of the flights in Q2 2025 compared to Q2 2024 means there are several additional flights compared to the same three-month period last year
Morava Airport is completely underutilized
Why not try to attract more turboprop operators and make it a viable option for central Serbia
because that way BEG will lose traffic and that is not acceptable
^ You are so smart I don't know where to begin
The only reason Morava has any flights is because the government is subsidizing flights
Have you thought maybe that there is little demand for Morava Airport
Use your brain for once in your life before writing nonsense
He is a graduate of the zama aviation academy
Was expecting bigger growth from Mostar considering the Sky Alps flights
But do remember they had flights on some routes last year too
All are low frequency and with small aircraft
Belgrade leading the way isn’t a surprise given Air Serbia’s and Wizz Air's expansion
Considering BEG had the biggest decrease in seats in Q4 24 and Q1 25
The decline in those two quarters was because of Wizz
And the increase now is thanks to Wizz too
Belgrade Airport relies way too much on Air Serbia and Wizz
But they are big operators at BEG and it is difficult to compete against them
Ryanair would turn everything on its head at BEG
But they are not brave enough to come to BEG
I'm sure that FR out of all cities in Europe is scared of BEG
JU and W6...This is some next level Balkan delulu
Just deny other comment without any argument is somewhat pathetic
I'm very happy to see Tivat back to growth
Third in a row by "impressivness"
Too bad we are not talking Intergalactic Spaceship bright and shiny A220
Imagine amount of impressivness for that one 🤣🤣🤣
Would be nice to get the monthly breakdown
I guess most of this BEG growth is in May and June
Glad to see SA finally catching up with others
it should have been like this a long time ago
it is the three biggest and most influential cities in Ex-Yu anyway
and also on highway in at least two directions
and was always bigger then Sarajevo in Yugoslavia (at least for decades). And also
Ljubljana today is MUCH MORE influential than Sarajevo
Sarajevo today is not in any aspect more important or even more influentian than Sarajevo.Name we in what? And i am from Serbia
Sarajevo and Ljubljana metropolitan zones (not cities
it is also a capital of a much smaller country than Bosnia
Sarajevo's urban core and city center is much bigger than the one of Skopje
Sarajevo has far more superior architecture
is a much bigger and popular touristic center
not to mention Sarajevos significance with the 1st world war
that is the only advantage over Sarajevo that it has
23:42 Sarajevo have better infrastructure then Skopje and better public transport
Dude in sarajevo there is still holes and shrapnell signs on almost every building
did you see how many new buildings are in Skopje now and how fast the city is developing
go visit Skopje see what boulevards haz ,buildings
and compare what Sarajevo has from all that things
Dont just write non sense comments and compare Nis with Skopje
The only true you said is yes Bosnia had more population then Macedonia ,but Skopje is way modernizate then Sarajevo ;)
Sarajevo has a brand new tram network fully renovated last year
they are finishing an additional new tram line this year
getting 10 more new Solaris trolleybusses end of this year
the Skopje 2014 project is an irreversible damage done to the city
those buildings look cheap and worse than in Disneyland or Las Vegas
I havent still visited Skopje but i can say that Sarajevo is really beautiful and unique city
Tourists come to Skopje to laugh at what politicians turned city into
but circus they turned Skopje into is unbelievable
Its known which were/are the 3 largest cities in former and post Yugoslavia BEG
it did not have any significant venues in the last 20-30 years
it doesnt even have any regional media present (N1
so what is the regional significance of Skopje and its advantage over Sarajevo
The only advantage I can think of it the highway connectivity
but Macedonia before the 2021 last one had in 2001
What they did to Skopje is such a shame and disaster that cannot be fixed for years to come
I have never seen that kitsch and circus anywhere else
and it especially should not be happening in a European capital
Good to see that Tuzla and Banja Luka are recovering and adding more passengers
but also a moment for SJJ management to question the master plan developed for the airport
SJJ had 1.820.000 pax in 2024 and the new terminal is designed for 2.000.000
With the current growth SJJ will have 2.200.000 pax by the end of 2025
was already struggling during summer of 2024
I cannot imagine what will happen this summer with more passengers
The point is that SJJ doubled its number of passengers in 2–3 years
Now the question is: was it poor planning or strong growth to blame for this situation
which isn't that huge in infrastructure terms
there was covid but most airports managed to accelerate projects during the pandemic
But even when construction was going on people were warning that the airport would quickly again be operating at full capacity
plus there is Freebird charters which means those numbers above will ne even higher👏
How many Freebird charters are there per week
and after that starts again in Octomber with one addition Vienna
Zagreb airport just raised their parking prices in the public car park from € 87 per week to € 102 per week
Probably thanks to the insane increase of passengers and a fully loaded parking facility
https://www.zagreb-airport.hr/en/passengers/parking-36/parking-calculator/684
@admin do we have any info of the occupancy rate of the facility
smaller parking businesses around the airport
Most of them are really serious and professional
video surveillance and on the spot rooms or apartments
Usual rates are 7-10 euros per day or 50-60 weekly
They are all located just next to the airport
2-3 minutes drive and they all offer car or van shuttle before and after the flight included in the price
They complement perfectly main airport parking and are widely used by people from all over Croatia
Serbia — Ivana Ilic Sunderic had never heard anything quite so alarming and disturbing at a protest as the sound that broke a commemorative silence during a huge anti-government rally in Serbia's capital
"It was quiet and peaceful and then we heard something we could not see … like a sound rolling toward us
a whiz," Ilic Sunderic said about the March 15 incident
"People started rushing for safety toward the pavement
feeling that something was moving toward us down the street."
It was "a subdued sound lasting only 2-3 seconds but very unusual and very frightening
Ilic Sunderic was not alone in describing the panic
Hundreds of others have offered similar accounts
military or security services under the tight control of authoritarian Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic used an acoustic crowd control weapon to target peaceful protesters
emit sound waves which can trigger sharp ear pain
eardrum ruptures or even irreversible hearing damage
who has been rattled by nearly five months of anti-corruption protests over the collapse in November of a concrete canopy at a railway station in the northern town of Novi Sad that killed 16 people
Serbia's officials have issued often contradictory denials that an acoustic weapon was directed at the demonstrators
Calls have been mounting for answers as to what caused the sudden commotion
An Associated Press video shows thousands of protesters holding up their lit mobile phones in silence when they suddenly start running away in panic
"I have been going to protests for 30 years but I've never heard anything like this," Ilic Sunderic said
A defiant Vucic has rejected what he called "lies and fabrications" that the security services targeted the demonstrators with a sonic device
He said that such accusations are part of an alleged Western-orchestrated ploy to topple him
"If there was a single piece of evidence that a sound cannon was used against demonstrators
then I would no longer be president," he said
initially all denied possessing the U.S.-made Long Range Acoustic Device (LRAD)
which is illegal in Serbia and some other countries
When presented with photos of the device mounted on an off-road vehicle and deployed at the rally of hundreds of thousands of protesters
officials admitted possessing a sonic weapon
but insisted it was not used against the protesters
The photos showed nothing more than "loudspeakers" that also are available on eBay
serve to emit warnings to the crowds in case of major trouble
used any illegal or unallowed device that is not envisaged by the law
including the device known as a sound cannon," Dacic said
"Police only use sound devices for warnings."
Sonic weapons use sound waves to incapacitate
disorient or harm individuals by harnessing acoustic energy
causing both physical and psychological effects
law enforcement and covert operations has raised serious ethical concerns
sonic devices have been used against Somali pirates as well as migrants in Greece and reportedly in Serbia
Images from the Belgrade protest show what appears to be an LRAD 450XL
said on X that "the video and audio evidence we have seen and heard thus far does not support the use of an LRAD during the March 15th incident in Belgrade
Many who were in the crowd later complained of headaches
a 23-year-old political science student from Belgrade
described the sound as a "jet that flew past like some kind of wind." He said that it created panic and a brief stampede: "One young man next to me broke his leg."
Cvrkovic said he felt nauseous all through the day after the demonstration
Ilic Sunderic said she felt pressure in her head and ears
Reports also have emerged of pressure on doctors at Serbia's emergency clinics to withhold records of hundreds of people who sought medical help and advice after the rally
radar and military communications at the Royal United Services Institute think tank
said he reviewed some of the videos from the Belgrade stampede
the demonstration," he said in an interview
an almost kind of biblical passing of a huge number of people in a very panicked rush
and the likes of which I must confess I've never seen before."
He said it was clear that something caused several hundred people to suddenly panic and move in a very specific way
rushing for cover to the pavement and abandoning the middle of the street
the behavior that you see on the film does appear to be consistent with people reacting en masse to something that is making them feel deeply unsettled or deeply uncomfortable," he said
a research manager at the Belgrade Center for Security Policy
"We can claim with huge probability that some unconventional weapon
"I have a lot of experience in participating and monitoring street protests and I have never seen a stampede happen in a second and along an almost straight line," Petrovic said
In an online petition signed by over half a million people
the Serbian opposition Move-Change movement asked the United Nations
the Council of Europe and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe for an independent investigation
Several Serbian rights groups announced Tuesday they have taken the issue to the European Court of Human Rights
saying that they collected more than 4,000 testimonies from people who complained of various physical and psychological problems after the incident on March 15
The court in Strasbourg has given Serbia until the end of the month to respond

they don't seem to always understand the appeal for foreigners
But the greatest charm of Belgrade comes not from the relatively small collection of tourist sites
The very thing that makes this city gritty is what also makes it so dynamic and void of sterility

Young Serbians are keen to celebrate the Yugoslav era
and offering tours of their country in vintage Yugos is a fun way of doing it
‘Jump in, comrade,” my driver honks and calls out the window of the smallest, boxiest car I’ve ever seen: the communist vintage Yugo. I’m setting off on a tour of Yugoslav-era Belgrade with driver Vojin Žugić from Yugoverse tours
a company in the business of cold-war nostalgia
and the smell of diesel and old leather seats is strong
We trundle around the Serbian capital for half a day
taking in communism’s most striking bridges and sites
honking merrily at the many drivers who overtake us
for the Yugo holds fond memories in this part of the world
Driving around the hippodrome next to Ada Bridge, or under the gravity-defying arch of the experimental brutalist Genex tower
it’s easy to get caught up in Žugić’s nostalgia – even though he’s only 24
We park at the tower and take the lift to the top floor at 140 metres for spectacular city views from its spaceship-like windows
this was architecture of an imagined socialist utopia
Though the concrete is a bit shabby up close
have been giving these forgotten classics a new lease of life: collecting them
meeting up for rallies and driving visitors around
Žugić tells me the appeal of collecting Zastavas comes partly from “a responsibility to maintain our country’s 20th-century heritage, which is fast disappearing”. The Museum of Automobiles closed in 2024, the brutalist Hotel Yugoslavia was bulldozed in January this year to make way for a Ritz-Carlton
once home to artists’ studios and secret raves
has been torn apart to be replaced by a Saudi-backed development of luxury flats
to preserve a dying heritage and celebrate a brutalist aesthetic in the Balkans
Soon we find ourselves winding through mountains
It’s here our boxy white Yugo comes into its own
chuntering along the bendy roads gracelessly but gloriously
a tiny train on its way to the Kosovo border runs alongside a river that feeds into the Ibar valley
Some houses have Yugos in varying states of repair parked outside
Their owners look up from tending their vegetables to give us waves of solidarity as we zoom past
we climb up to the castle and are welcomed by a group of twentysomethings with mandatory shots of rakia – plum brandy from this region

Antoine Belgrave-Shorter was set to be a cornerback
an unfortunate turn of events changed things
Between Penn State’s first and second games last season, the team’s best safety, KJ Winston, suffered what turned out to be a season-ending injury.
Injury Specifics for Penn State S KJ Winston Revealed
Penn State’s safety depth before Winston’s injury wasn’t great and was in a worse spot without him
The coaching staff looked at Belgrave-Shorter— then a true freshman
Belgrave-Shorter is entering his second college football season and first at safety
a Nittany Sports Now series profiling each Penn State player
Before Penn State: Antoine Belgrave-Shorter was a standout at Mandarin
reaching captain status as a senior and helping his team to a berth in the state championship game
He ended his senior season with four interceptions— one of which being a pick-six— 72 tackles
Belgrave-Shorter was rated as a consensus three-star prospect
Last year: Belgrave-Shorter kept his redshirt intact
playing in a total of five games (with two coming in the College Football Playoff.) He almost had his first touchdown in a 56-0 win over Kent State
but his fumble return for a TD was called back after review
Where he stands: Penn State’s unofficial depth chart lists Belgrave-Shorter as the team’s No
3 strong safety behind projected starter Dejuan Lane and King Mack
But with first-year defensive coordinator Jim Knowles expected to run a five-man defensive backfield
Belgrave-Shorter could have some opportunities
It’s also worth noting that Belgrave-Shorter’s high school classmate
entered the transfer portal over the spring and is now at Georgia Tech
so playing without Mitchell is sure to be an adjustment

BELGRADE — You may recall a story I told you about a few months ago: a transportation safety plan for the city of Belgrade
after receiving tons of feedback from community members expressing their concerns
driving around the greater Belgrade area is a daily occurrence and has been for the last 20 years
So I asked this local where the most concerning areas around town are
Even Main Street through Belgrade gets pretty backed up
Michael isn’t the only Belgrade resident with these concerns
Where people were actually able to put a dot on the map and tell us about why they didn’t like a particular intersection or part of town,” Camaree Uljua tells me
Uljua is the director of public works for the City of Belgrade
a federal grant called Safe Streets For All allowed the city to implement a safety action plan
aimed at improving transportation safety in the greater Belgrade area
Through open houses and popups you may have seen around town
“Bicycle and pedestrian connectivity was one of the top ones
But also we heard a lot about intersection safety,” says Uljua
“Our hot spots were definitely along Jackrabbit Lane
regarding the ability to make left turns throughout the entire corridor," Uljua tells me
Uljua says the city was able to take the public’s feedback and combine it with actual crash data in those areas
“What we found was there’s actually quite a bit of overlap there
So that helps us validate the fact that we’re maybe looking at the right parts of town,” she says
The city is preparing for its second round of public engagement this week
where they will have conceptual designs of sidewalk connectivity
“This round of public engagement will be an opportunity for folks to give us some input on whether or not they think we’re headed in the right direction there,” Uljua tells me
There will also be another popup on Wednesday at Albertsons in the afternoon—an opportunity folks like Michael think the community should take up
“I think we should just keep improving Montana
Making it greater every day and make the roadways better so people can travel safely” says Michael

My first style icon was not Diana Ross or Devon Lee Carlson
Her hair was cut in a sharp black bob that accented her porcelain skin
Tetka Ana was not just a member of my extended family; being in her presence was an entire sensory and emotional experience: aromatic
affectionate and overall aesthetic—not to mention generous too
I would always leave our reunions with offerings of lip products and nail polish
One particular afternoon with her was spent lounging by topiary
guided by the view that overlooks the Serbian Sava river valley
The remnants of a discontinued Neapolitan popsicle
I still remembered to check if the two lottery stamps on its ends matched: a new apartment
Being admired or memorable to others is a matter of your witnessed association with life’s best pleasures—in our case
I love my aunt because she is “nice,” but my opinion of her is formed by a collective of our shared memories: reminiscing at the sight of her smile
the smell of the flowers littering the garden she brought me to
the feeling of her three kisses on my cheeks
the taste of the treats she bought me and the sound of her positive affirmations
Behavior is not necessarily an overlooked aspect of self-improvement
but is typically considered an entirely separate realm from styling as defined by clothing and accessories
whether through code switching or etiquette classes
is related closely to the body and how it occupies space
I would consider myself some kind of concoction of every characteristic in another person I’ve ever found captivating
I came across a piece of literature in July that confirmed my suspicions about the role of setting in human conduct—in this case
where I have spent the happiest periods of my life: 2017 style guide “Beogradjanke Znaju” (Belgradians Know) by Branka Kovačević
the work follows 18 different Belgradian women and their individual fashion philosophies
including sneak peeks into their daily routines
like the type of fruit they put in their chia pudding
the only change I would make would be including Ankica as the 19th Belgradian
The type of woman who is always in a rush—excited by the transience of life—but never too busy to pause for a coffee date
music taste and summer reading list create the context in which you exist
like the contents written on a Pokémon card or some kind of museum label
The intention behind these small details is veiled in small nuances
Do you chew on a toothpick during all of your waking hours
the decisions of where you congregate and who you surround yourself with are also an aspect of your personal world-building
An Emma Chamberlain “Anything Goes” podcast episode I recently listened to that inspired me discussed the importance of the sociological concept of third spaces
which are spots you occupy outside of your traditional home or workplace
the lines are blurred between this trifecta of points
considering being a student is likely your main career and you live on a university campus
One of my favorite third spaces I can name from before I moved to Brunswick is the foundry of the Toledo Museum of Art
I would drop my backpack off at home after the eighth period and drive downtown to the forge
we bonded with the glow of neon rods in our faces
while taking turns pulling molten glass from the ovens
my relaxed state and pursuit of my creative interests led me to meet some of my closest friends and develop my attention to detail
which I think is a trait my loved ones value the most in me
It may seem like this final pillar of “Stepping Stones for Style” places an unhealthy emphasis on an outsider view of the self
but I am a firm believer that by putting others’ well-being and experiences first
humans benefit from the inspiration we take and give
You have nothing to lose by seeking these side quests and refining your vibe
The way I discovered the Rosetta Stone for determining the kind of person I want to be was never forgetting where I came from
The thousands of limestone bricks that shaped the façade of Belgrade’s white fortress were the ideal nook for people-watching and self-reflection
My thing is clapping my hands noisily while I laugh
telling my roommate that I’m coming in a “seccy-sec,” and going to Morning Glory downtown for the sole purpose of buying aspartame-free chewing gum
This is the final pillar of “Stepping Stones for Style.” Hopefully
the five columns have been sufficient to anchor a pediment with a beautiful scene
there will still be countless tesserae to create a mosaic in your likeness

Serbia’s Temple of Saint Sava for the first time
The doorway into the world’s largest Serbian Orthodox Cathedral revealed a cavernous nave
reaching up high to a tremendous domed ceiling
Hanging from it was a monumental multi-wheeled chandelier
illuminating the surrounding walls and mosaics that were adorned with religious iconography
with my head tilted upward to gaze upon its splendor
I realized the moment reminded me of my first impressions of a structure someplace else: Hagia Sophia in Istanbul
explained that this magnificent Serbian cathedral was actually designed and constructed with Hagia Sophia in mind
some have nicknamed it “the new Hagia Sophia.”
comparisons of the two similar structures end with grand chandeliers; while the fourth-century Hagia Sophia has served its purpose as a mosque
then a church and eventually back to a mosque again
Completed and opened to the public in 2004 after many setbacks — the founding stone was set in 1935 — the church is now one of the most important shrines in the Serbian Orthodox Church
It’s erected on the grounds of what is believed to be the final resting place of the church’s founder
Learning about the history of this awe-inspiring temple was just one highlight of many as I experienced the sights and the scenes of Belgrade
Belgrade is often one of several ports for river cruises traveling down the Danube
but it’s one that definitely warrants more time than that of a single day tour
An important hub of Serbian and Balkan history
it’s a city that dates back more than 7,000 years
from prehistoric times to the Electrical Age of inventor Nikola Tesla and beyond
home of one of the city’s main historical attractions: the Beogradska Tvrdjava (Belgrade Fortress)
still offers great vistas of the confluence of the Danube and Sava rivers
churches and other exhibitions found in and around the fortress grounds
The complex lies in the city park known as the Kalemegdan
a pleasant place where I continued strolling on a nice day amidst locals lunching on benches and chess players quietly dueling their intellects at park tables
Between the park and Republic Square is the main pedestrian drag of Knez Mihailova — named after 19th-century prince Mihailo Obrenovic — where old buildings have been repurposed for modern shops
Within walking distance is the trendy Dorcol neighborhood
with bars and boutiques scattered around its residential streets
One notable street is the promenade Skadarlija
where live music is performed tableside each night in traditional Serbian restaurants
where diners are served platters of beloved dishes such as grilled cevapi (spiced minced meat) and pohovane paprike (breaded roasted peppers) stuffed with cheese
I also found vibrant dinner scenes of live music, food and toasts of rakia — local fruit brandy — at the Gastrosor, another promenade of eateries in a revived port district along the Danube
Southeast of Stari Grad is the Vracar neighborhood — home to the Temple of Saint Sava — where you’ll also find the Kalenic Green Market, which tantalizes foodies, and the Nikola Tesla Museum for science and history buffs
The museum not only has interactive exhibitions about electricity; it is also the final resting place of Tesla’s cremated remains
Another hybrid resting place/museum is the Museum of Yugoslavia, home to the tomb of Josip Broz Tito
former leader of Communist Yugoslavia (of which Serbia was once part)
artifacts and memorabilia of the former Balkan republic
many of which are Tito’s personal effects and gifts given to him by other dignitaries
travelers will discover modern shopping centers and international hotel chains found in other European cities
old-world charm can still be found in the bohemian Zemun neighborhood
I walked to the top of Gardos Hill — where Millennium Tower rises from a cemetery and the remnants of the 14th-century Gardos Fortress — and was rewarded with a postcard vista of the Danube River
on a pleasant stroll down the hill to the riverfront
I browsed quaint shops and art galleries before ultimately dining riverside with a view of swimming swans
It’s not the Danube but the Sava River that separates Old and New Belgrade — west and east
respectively — and in the middle lies an island frequented by visitors and locals alike: Ada Ciganlija
which has become the city’s beloved place for lakeshore beach activities
drinking at beach cafes or simply taking out a kayak or stand-up paddleboard from one of the local rental shops
It’s a great place to spend an afternoon or a night out when it’s warm — or
when you just need a break from all the historical sites and museums
Belgrade is essentially the geographic center of Serbia
making it the perfect base to explore the rest of the country by way of day trips
While Belgrade may be a brief port-of-call stop on a Danube River cruise
travel advisors can use it as the gateway to the rest of what Serbia has to offer for clients

Costa Rica’s ambassador to Yugoslavia was a Soviet spy sent to kill Tito
On the morning of 27 April 1953 Yugoslavia’s communist leader Josip Broz Tito received the Costa Rican diplomat Teodoro Castro in a simply furnished room at the White Palace in Belgrade
Tito had split with Stalin and the Soviet Union in 1948
and the meeting with Castro was one more small step in a plan to forge new alliances across the globe and cement Yugoslavia’s status as a communist power independent from Moscow
extolled Tito and hinted at rich trading opportunities: Costa Rica could sell Belgrade the best coffee and cocoa in the world
and in return it would buy cement and industrial machinery
with a translator occasionally stepping in when Tito needed help with a word
Both men sucked at pipes with a cigarette tucked vertically into the end

Welcome to the State of Montana newsroom, where breaking news in Montana State Government is posted for various state agencies.
BELGRADE, Mont. – Governor Greg Gianforte today joined U.S. Senators Steve Daines and Tim Sheehy, R-Montana, to cut the ribbon on Montana’s newest Amazon operational facility in Belgrade.
“Montana is open for business, and Amazon’s continued investment in our state is proof of that,” Gov. Gianforte said. “This facility will create more opportunities for Montanans, support small businesses, and strengthen local economies in the Gallatin Valley and beyond. I’m proud to welcome Amazon’s continued growth in our state and look forward to more partnerships like this one that create opportunities for Montanans.”
Gov. Gianforte cutting the ribbon on Montana’s newest Amazon facility in Belgrade
The 50,000-square-foot warehouse is Amazon’s latest $27 million investment and third delivery site that supports Amazon’s “last-mile” delivery operations, receiving packages from larger regional fulfillment centers and sending them out for final delivery to customers within a 50-mile radius.
In March, Gov. Gianforte cut the ribbon on Amazon’s first facility in Missoula. Amazon opened it second facility in Billings last month.
Since 2010, Amazon has invested more than $110 million in Montana and created over 500 full- and part-time jobs across the state. The company also supports more than 1,000 independent sellers based in Montana, most of them small and medium-sized businesses that sell in Amazon’s store.
Joining the governor for the ribbon cutting were U.S. Senators Steve Daines and Tim Sheehy.
“Nearly 30 years ago, Amazon began as an online bookseller in 1995. To think of where we are at today – the everything store – to have a fulfillment center right here in our backyard in Belgrade says a lot. And to think they will be delivering 11,000 packages a day out of this facility and working to get to same-day delivery right here in our neck of the woods is truly remarkable,” Sen. Daines said.
“As someone who has started and grown Montana businesses and created Montana jobs, I am proud to see other companies continue investing in our state and our people. This investment will unleash prosperity for more Montana families, connect Montana businesses to global markets, and send a clear message that Montana is open for business,” Sen. Sheehy said.
Amazon Site Leader Tom Garcia added, “Bringing Amazon to Belgrade isn’t just about fast delivery, it’s about investing in the community and empowering our employees. We’re creating opportunities for learning advancement and professional development right here in Montana and believe in nurturing and fostering a culture of growth and respective – and we’re committed to doing that right here in Montana.”
“This investment is a win for Belgrade and a win for Montana,” Gov. Gianforte added. “With more Montanans working than ever before and a record number of businesses created last year, we’ll continue building on this momentum and delivering results through our pro-jobs, pro-business agenda.”
In January, the governor announced Montanans created nearly 64,000 businesses last year, a record. Earlier this month, Montana was named the best state for business startups.
The Belgrade facility adds to the growing list of major employers expanding operations in Montana under Governor Gianforte’s leadership. It follows announcements from VACOM in Lewistown, Brixtel Defense in Glendive, Coca-Cola High Country in Billings, and Aurora in Bozeman.
