Please read the below PRESS RELEASE from Blue Crane:
Blue Crane and development partner Riverside of Austin
announced a mixed-use project located on Second Street between NE A and North Main in downtown Bentonville
This development will introduce new residential units
while preserving key elements of the Bentonville square
Utility relocation associated with the project started earlier this month
and construction is expected to begin in early 2026
The development will proceed within Bentonville's current zoning framework as the project team prepares to submit plans through the city's Large Scale Development process this fall
“We really tried to create a space that honors the square's importance while carefully introducing new architecture and amenities to serve our growing community." said Brian Shaw
a member of the development team at Blue Crane
“This project represents an exciting vision for Bentonville's future—a thoughtful blend of contemporary design that respects the city's heritage.”
visitors to the north side of the square will experience Bentonville's rich character and history
restoring a deeper connection to the city’s past
The design blends historic elements – with storefronts that reflect the designs of the original brick commercial buildings built in the 1880s – with more modern architecture off the square
The project will also restore and preserve the historic Benton County Jail
which is recognized on the National Historic Registry
A key component of this project is the reimagining of the Arvest Bank branch on the square
the Arvest Bank branch will remain downtown
temporarily relocating to 215 NW A Street to ensure service continuity
"Arvest is part of the downtown Bentonville fabric and remains committed to serving the community," said Chad Evans
"We look forward to welcoming our customers to a next-generation bank and community room on the square."
The development will add new residential units to downtown Bentonville
bringing residents who will support local businesses
retail and dining spaces will complement existing businesses while introducing new shopping experiences to the square
these additions will create a more comprehensive shopping district appealing to both residents and visitors alike
An underground parking structure will provide convenient access while preserving the pedestrian-friendly
walkable character that makes downtown Bentonville special
The project includes public spaces connecting with community assets such as the All-American Trail
supporting Bentonville's identity as the Mountain Biking Capital of the World™
"The North Main project is an investment in Bentonville's future," Barrett Lepore
"We're creating a place that will bring full time residents and new amenities downtown while contributing to Bentonville's thriving
Blue Crane and Riverside have engaged Herzog & de Meuron for the design
the development balances respect for Bentonville's past with the needs of its growing community
The north side of the square was last renovated in the 1980s when the majority of the original buildings were rebuilt. To stay updated on the project, please visit bluecrane.us

the Walmart Museum expands on the original Walton's 5-10 store
arts and cycling are about as incongruous as you can imagine
the small Northwest Arkansas town known mostly by outsiders for its Walmart connection
The city is booming with newcomer residents
and in a few short years visitors have been packing museums and hitting bike trails galore
the whole enterprise has just reopened with double the amount of exhibition space
the museum also has homey touches like Sam Walton’s original wood paneled office and his beloved red pickup
The Masterpiece trail is just one biking highlight along Bentonville's insanely extensive network
Anyone who remembers the '50s will recognize simple home goods packaging
Anyone who came of age in the '80s will get a chuckle—or groan—out of the Walmart advertising inserts that cleverly have been turned into wallpaper of fresh faced youngsters in questionable jeans and haircuts
And don’t miss Dolly Parton’s colorful vintage outfit that’s on display to acknowledge her work with the Walmart Foundation on hurricane relief
expect lines outside on the main square for the museum’s popular Spark Café ice cream shop
Northwest Arkansas’s Onyx Coffee Lab was just named best shop in North America
expect a long line right off the square for your heavenly jolt
the Faherty haberdashery takes up a stunning original bank building with its vault still intact
And with food trucks and drinks establishments all around
you could literally spend the day just around the square
Bentonville is officially the Mountain Biking Capital of the World
but the city’s biking guide outlines 29 separate greenways alone
the Coler Mountain Bike Preserve is not only for bikers
but it’s where you’ll find just as many families strolling the main concrete artery to land up some 20 minutes later at the café Airship at the Homestead
Sit on swings inside the open-walled concrete structure to enjoy your tacos and beer

you can sit back with a beer in their gym-sized space and contemplate your choices of a wheels purchase
the six-story copper-clad and glass Ledger offices and cultural hub is surely the only building you’ve ever ridden up on outdoor switchback ramps
that you can simply pedal up the outside of a building
It also has an Airship coffee shop downstairs for good measure in this coffee mad town
Lovely mosaic tiles of native Ozark insects are placed all along the concrete path

With restaurants popping up all over and attracting accomplished chefs, Bentonville city’s dining guide lists 207 establishments. A speakeasy behind an art gallery, the tiki room meets high design Callisto bar is as smart a venue as any you’d find in Brooklyn
with exotic cocktails you’ve never heard of
For all that’s brand new in Bentonville, take an hour and get a feel for the past at the Peel Museum & Botanical Garden
The late 19th-century mansion is filled with furnishings and personal artifacts such as a fine wedding dress that belonged to the Peel family of apple orchard owners from the time when Bentonville was the orchard town
the Moshe Safdie-designed Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art has built a major collection
Nearby, your entry into the Museum of Native American History is dramatic enough with a mammoth skeleton that shrieks as you open the door
Arrowheads and pottery galore go back millennia
while Plains Indians headdresses and Osage war clubs represent just some of the holdings from the recent past
Even if you’re not looking to join Walmart
it makes for yet another fine and easy bike ride to reach the company’s new lake-and native-landscaped campus along a section of the 40 mile-long Razorback Greenway
As you zip around Bentonville by foot or on two wheels
you’ll enjoy all the charms for sure of a small town
But you ain’t really in small town America at all here anymore

Walton Foundation has secured 100 acres in Bentonville for a proposed health care campus
which will include a cardiac care facility aimed at expanding specialty medical services in Northwest Arkansas
the site offers easy access to major highways and Interstate 49
making it a convenient location for patients across the region
This initiative follows the Foundation’s announcement last September of a 30-year, $700 million affiliation agreement with Mercy and Heartland Whole Health Institute
The collaboration aims to enhance health care access
bringing its expertise in cardiovascular care to the effort
Mercy has committed $350 million toward building a state-of-the-art cardiac center in Rogers
while the Foundation has pledged an equal amount to establish an outpatient specialty care center in Bentonville
Studies indicate that Northwest Arkansas residents often travel out of the region for specialized medical services
with an estimated $695 million in health care spending leaving the area annually
“Residents of our region deserve access to affordable, high-quality specialty care right here at home,” said Alice Walton, founder of the Alice L. Walton Foundation
“Staying close to your home and family during times of medical need is an important part of healing and improving well-being.”
Planning and design for the Bentonville facility are currently underway
Mercy is already expanding its cardiac care offerings
Construction has begun at Mercy Hospital Northwest Arkansas to add 20 intensive care unit beds and 12 recovery beds
alongside the recent opening of three new operating suites and 22 medical-surgical beds
Mercy has recruited more than 130 new medical professionals and recently opened five new clinics in Northwest Arkansas
Mercy and Cleveland Clinic are working to assess the region’s cardiovascular needs and develop a long-term strategy for the new cardiac care center
The partnership is expected to bring world-class expertise to the area
ensuring that patients receive top-tier heart care without having to leave the region

BENTONVILLE -- The opening of the new 85,000-square-foot Heartland Whole Health Institute building Thursday marked the first day art and wellness officially merged on the Crystal Bridges campus
The institute was founded in 2019 by Walton
daughter of the late Walmart founder Sam Walton
to work with the health care industry "in developing a whole-health approach that considers the needs of the whole person with the goal of preventing disease
and sustaining wellness," according to a news release from the institute
said the institute is in the business of broadening access to whole-health care by developing care models and programs that incorporate a blend of art and wellness for hospitals
The three-story facility was designed by Marlon Blackwell Architects
with the first floor open to the public and the second and third floors dedicated to office space for the institute and other nonprofit organizations founded by Walton
including the Art Bridges Foundation and the Alice L
founding partner of Marlon Blackwell Architects
said the building was designed to be the gateway to the Crystal Bridges campus
which will include the Alice Walton School of Medicine come July 14
The institute's building is meant to marry art
bringing cohesion and harmony to the campus
Part of bringing whole health to the region is providing a space for people to experience whole health for themselves
and the institute's new building does that by inspiring calmness and connection to nature
The building's features that are open to the public include art galleries
the institute features curved structures and building materials including stone
textured material and views to the campus trails connect visitors to the environment
while the building exposes them to art and artistry
Many who attended the institute's ribbon cutting and first tour Thursday expressed feeling calmed by the building's interior and comforting
A college student at the University of Arkansas said the amount of structural curves inside as well as the minimal artificial light made for a nice
with wool felt on the walls flanking the staircase
drawn from the site's topography and Ozark forests
enhance the connection to nature and place
and create an atmosphere to nurture the whole self," Blackwell said
Inspired by a painting in the Crystal Bridges art collection
"Kindred Spirits," the design team selected textiles in a comparable natural color palette
"With felt acoustic wall panels in a variety of greens and grays and wool broadloom carpeting that emulate moss and rock
the interiors evoke spending time in nature
surrounded by textures and colors," said Ati Blackwell
another founding partner of Marlon Blackwell Architects
In addition to the architectural and interior artistry
"The Art of Whole Health," is just past the lobby and curated by the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art
featuring more than 25 works of art ranging from sculpture to paintings and photographs
"With the institute opening on the campus of a world-class museum of art
we have the opportunity to help visitors experience art and wellness offerings and how they can aid whole health -- our physical
emotional and social well-being," Pirtle said
"We're inspired by Marlon Blackwell Architects' welcoming design for this building and look forward to providing a new destination for visitors on Crystal Bridges Campus."
the institute and Crystal Bridges will welcome visitors with free programming held at the facility
featuring plaster walls and a conical skylight
