It was during this time where Roger had his first foray driving school bus as he would drive his team from campus to town for practice he also happened to graduate with a BS in Elementary Education (He was later inducted into the Marauder Hall of Fame in 1992 as the first ever member for men’s basketball) Roger took a position as an elementary school teacher in New Salem while also coaching girls’ and boys’ basketball He liked to joke that he spent 33 years in the fifth grade teaching hundreds of young men and women his love of basketball (and perhaps critiquing the calls of an official on more than one occasion) His most successful team made the girls’ state championship game in 1993 And would you believe that for a majority of his coaching career Roger acquired a 1967 Chevrolet C10 pickup which his family and friends referred to as “Old Blue” He got a kick out of asking people to “move my truck for me” to see if they could drive a 3-speed column shift manual transmission It was in New Salem that he also met the love of his life Roger and Mary Lou raised their children in New Salem Roger painted houses and barns (employing many siblings Rarely did you find Roger in a bad mood…he was bigger than life; "Yesterday we lost so we came in today gritting our teeth and we focused on playing three full periods 60 minutes of hockey," Bobcats forward Kyle Doll said "We came out and we didn't take our foot off the gas a single shift a mistake was made in regulation this time by the Bruins with Austin gift-wrapping a scoring chance for the Bobcats on a bad turnover counting just a single assist in Bismarck's first six playoff games sniping a shot from the right circle over the shoulder of Jack Solomon 1:04 into the period to finally break the ice right from the gun they created chances," Roth said they created momentum and it's only fitting with how they played that their line was the one that got the game-winner for us." and we knew if we stayed true to our game it would finally fall," Doll said "Good to get the monkey off my back with that goal "Hockey is a game of mistakes and you have to capitalize on theirs and try not to make as many mistakes as they do." Given plenty of practice all season in protecting one-goal leads the Bobcats used their offense to keep pressure off their defense counting nearly half a dozen close calls against Austin's defense in the next 15 minutes we were playing on our toes and that's what we needed to do to get the win," Roth said "(Doll's) goal in the first minute and a half of the third period really allowed ourselves to settle into the game and understand what we had to do to finish it off "We generated a ton of chances in that third period a couple of really Grade-A opportunities around the slot and it was one of those things where we weren't able to create a two-goal lead he's been the best goalie in the league all year and he was able to make sure he kept the fort clean." One of the rare breaks for Austin's defense came midway through the period when Charlie Sandven was called for tripping Coming close on the heels of a play in the neutral zone that the Bobcats on the bench were wanting a call against Austin for Bismarck sent its vaunted penalty kill -- 14-for-17 in the Aberdeen series 86.4 percent for the playoffs -- onto the ice It gives us a sense of pace and urgency when we kill them off." pushing Bismarck's mark up to 87 percent and preventing Anderson from dealing with any truly dangerous chances "It's important to have a short memory and move on we were excited on the bench in the moment but as soon as they made the call we had to reset and understand what our responsibilities are and what we have to do to kill the penalty to get back to even strength," Roth said when they do get in our zone and they start wheeling around and they get those couple of chances they'll execute on them," Anderson said But as all teams do when one is behind and pressing for the equalizer play started to slowly shift into Bismarck's end and after the Bruins got Anderson to hold a puck for a faceoff Austin took its timeout with 2:33 to go to make its final bid for the tying goal "It's very intense those last couple of minutes you're putting everything out that you have in the tank left," Anderson said "You're doing whatever you can to get the win." The sloppy Bismarck defense that allowed Austin to score twice in five minutes of action in the first period of Friday's game was turned on its head 180 degrees in the final two minutes of Saturday's game with the Bobcats expertly closing ranks in front of Anderson they put their bodies on the line to help us secure a victory," Roth said our guys did a fantastic job of closing the game out." we have a lot of veteran guys who have been in that role (of closing out games)," Doll said "We knew our place and relied on those guys." Also aiding the Bobcats was expert work in the faceoff dot by every line put out on the ice by Roth as Bismarck did not lose a single faceoff coming in its own zone after the Austin timeout Bismarck's first chance at the empty net was just wide for an icing the Bobcats cleared the zone for a third time and got new legs on the ice and the insurance goal Bismarck had been so close to earlier in the period finally arrived With more expert shot-blocking and collapsing in front of Anderson a puck came right to Alexandr Kim in the middle of Bismarck's defensive zone and it was a clean runway down the ice for Bismarck's second goal of the game "(Kim) has done that a couple times from half ice or the full length of the ice I have confidence in our group and if they see an empty net and have a lane to it but we trust our guys to make appropriate decisions and execute when the opportunity is there." Saturday's win also represented Bismarck's first win against Austin in the playoffs since the 2015-16 season when the Bobcats beat the Bruins in five games in the Central Division finals to advance to the Robertson Cup playoffs For all their success on the VFW Sports Center ice this year Bismarck hopes they won't need to play on it again as the series shifts to Austin next weekend for Games 3 and 4 A sweep next weekend would lock Bismarck into a trip to Minnesota and the Robertson Cup playoffs for the first time since that 2016 playoff run have a day off tomorrow and get back to work on Monday," Roth said "It was a short week for us just like Austin were on the ice Tuesday right after the game Wednesday and Thursday we were battling the flu so it was good to see us get the win tonight and now we can have a full week of practice where we understand what we have to accomplish and go to work." so we're happy with it and we'll look forward to our practices before we go down to Austin." Bismarck spent all of last weekend digging out of a hole against Aberdeen in their Central Division semifinal series before winning in five games on Monday After a rough start in the first five minutes of their series opener against Austin on Friday at the VFW Sports Center Bismarck again finds themselves in need of digging out of a deficit that's it," Bismarck head coach Garrett Roth said we played four minutes of hockey and thought we'd win this hockey game." Bismarck immediately made their new series tough on themselves as they let in a pair of goals just five minutes into the first period Traffic in front of goaltender Tomas Anderson allowed a shot from the point just 29 seconds in to hit the back of the net and then a tough bounce beat Anderson just after the clock cleared five minutes we blow a coverage and they put it in the back of the net," Roth said another play where we don't finish a check they beat us up ice and that's the game right there." The Bobcats struggled to find offense in the second period holding the zone well on their power plays in the period but generally unable to generate 5-on-5 chances to truly threaten Austin's lead Can't answer anything else than us playing terrible." Bismarck had a pair of penalties of their own to deal with and outside one close call on an Austin passing play that was shot just wide their penalty kill held the line and kept the game within reach The Bobcats finally found their scoring touch in the waning minutes of the third period as Julian Beaumont scored an extra-attacker goal to cut Austin's lead to 2-1 Their hopes of rallying out of their self-made deficit fell short soon after when Austin defenseman Nathan Williams gained control of the puck and flung it the length of the ice and into the vacated Bismarck net to restore the two-goal lead we came here and expected to win a hockey game just because we've won games all year," Roth said Bismarck will try and rally to a series split tonight with another 7:15 p.m Goaltender saves: Austin -- Jack Solomon 6-10-6--22 Penalties: Austin -- Four minors for eight minutes Abigail Fox, an advanced practice registered nurse and certified nurse practitioner, is excited to join the Essentia Health-Mid Dakota Bismarck 9th Street Clinic to practice walk-in care "The environment seemed very welcoming and friendly," Fox said of her decision to join Essentia "After my husband completed residency in 2022 he took a job in Bismarck on the recommendation of a friend We love this community and consider this home now." Building your body’s natural immunity to a disease before you become ill can be accomplished with a vaccination Particularly for at-risk groups like small children and the elderly you prevent contracting and spreading the illness and develop a defense mechanism to combat pathogens It is recommended that children receive twelve different vaccinations by the time they are six Some of these are shown in a series of shots Certain vaccines can be given with fewer doses when combined The Trump administration’s deceptive vaccine skeptic has caused misunderstandings and uncertainty about vaccines The current measles epidemic and the avian flu outbreak in the United States are two examples of preventable illnesses that cause hospitalizations and mortality when vaccination rates are lower because they increase the spread of infectious Immunizations are a vital component of both public and family health Please talk to your healthcare provider and medical professionals about your literature for children to roam the bounty of stories and magic within books that await them Building your body's natural immunity to a disease before you become ill can be accomplished with a Burgum’s repudiation of his January 2025 Senate confirmation testimony that wind energy projects that “…make sense and if they’re already in law Burgum began a re-review of an off-shore wind project which had been initially approved during Mr Trump’s first term and finally approved during the Biden administration having assumed the good-faith of the US government (ooops) and any cost from abandoning the project will be borne partly by utility payers Burgum’s incessant incantations that his energy policy in North Dakota was an “all of the above” approach given the recent history of confirmation hearings and the resulting actions of those testifying Consider Supreme Court Justice Kavanaugh’s testimony that Roe v Wade was “settled law” and Mr Kennedy’s assurance that he supports vaccination At least Pete Hegseth’s wiggling and squirming to avoid saying that he believes the Geneva Conventions should govern US troop actions was slightly more honest than answering in the affirmative and then ignoring his sworn testimony 3 months later These folks do swear on a Bible to tell the truth during these hearing….don’t they didn’t “go along,” nor did he tie a worrisome to their job—14 a day from injury alone—and millions more suffer from work-related injuries or illnesses Job safety agencies play a critical role in protecting workers from unsafe working conditions and agencies such as the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) have open active investigations against Elon Musk’s companies Musk and his “Department of Government Efficiency” now has access to workers’ confidential data from safety investigations workers’ compensation claims and other filings This is a serious breach of privacy that puts many workers at risk of retaliation and discourages workers from speaking out about unsafe working conditions The government has a role to protect workers from unsafe workplaces our entire worker protection structure is under threat one of the more dangerous states in which to work We will have more families grieving their loved ones to workplace injuries That is why we are calling on Senator Hoeven Senator Cramer and Representative Fedorchak to demand that the Trump administration uphold the workplace protections we’ve fought so hard to secure We hope you’ll stand with us to defend and restore the protections we need to survive The latest demonstration of this wasted time and energy was former governor Burgum's repudiation of his January Trump's first term and finally approved during the Biden administration Burgum's incessant incantations that his energy policy in North Dakota was an "all of the above" approach Consider Supreme Court Justice Kavanaugh's testimony that Roe v Wade was "settled law" and Mr Kennedy's assurance that he supports vaccination At least Pete Hegseth's wiggling and squirming to avoid saying that he believes the Geneva Conventions should govern US troop actions These folks do swear on a Bible to tell the truth during these hearing….don't they Antibiotics didn't exist until well after WW2 so you could (and still can) die from a simple infection Let's rollback intrusive environmental and health regulations Let's put lead back into paint and gasoline Fiber is good in the diet so let's put sawdust back into our bread Let's return to the days when you could put anything into a pill Republicans were seething when he criticized Reagan’s "Trickle down theory” as a gift to the wealthy Apparently our congressional delegation believes in the old cliché 'Silence is Golden,' none have protested the huge cut in funding for Headstart It's time for our Senators and Representative to speak out against Elon Musk Doge wrecking ball action Don't stop funding the programs for the most needy and vulnerable in our population the 25th of April is celebrated as World Malaria Day it is an occasion that brings attention to the fight against malaria a mosquito-borne infectious disease that remains a scourge to many nations Celebrating World Malaria Day in the year 2025 the tagline "Malaria Ends with Us: Reinvest and an increase in efforts to wage war against the disease This year's topic of focus speaks of the need to restart the efforts in the fight against malaria to rejuvenate the strategies that were initially adopted and reiterated by the fight against this disease which persists and kills millions of people especially the people of the sub-Saharan region The current administration of Trump can also be influential by providing support to international programs that focus on the fight against malaria the United States government could enforce more directive guidelines for global health and further strengthen its political commitment to eradicating diseases and malaria control It could collaborate with World Health Organization and the Global Fund to improve funding and support improved malaria research the administration should pledge to implement and improve public health measures including the President's Malaria Initiative and boosting funding and cooperation for the cause There are many reasons why eliminating malaria is important for America and the military preventing malaria in combat zones is necessary because the disease lowers troops' operational ability Reducing malaria globally will decrease the rates of emerging infectious diseases and promote economic growth in affected regions On the upgrade for the governors MANSION security mabey if i donated a firearm to him we could save those millions thanks When President Trump says we will no longer tolerate foreign “pollution havens” where jobs are offshored our Legislature adopted House Concurrent Resolution 3009 telling Washington to stop giving foreign polluters a free pass and start standing up for American workers No nation produces energy or manufactures goods as cleanly as the United States yet we let countries like China flood our markets with dirt-cheap products made with abysmal standards Our economy is 44% more carbon-efficient than the world average and private-sector innovation has helped the U.S cut more emissions over the last 15 years than any other country Beijing pumps out a third of the planet’s pollution—more than the entire Western world combined—with Communist Party subsidies and zero regard for environmental or labor standards North Dakotans feel that unfairness implicitly and explicitly when federal regulators lock up our public lands Our communities feel it personally with potential billions of dollars lost from our schools and roads This Resolution demands trade policy that punishes global polluters and rewards American excellence If China or any other country wants access to the world’s greatest consumer market they should meet our standards or pay a penalty that erases their dirty subsidy That kind of trade policy would level the playing field and create good-paying jobs in rural America North Dakota has charted a course that aligns perfectly with President Trump’s agenda: secure our supply chains and put American workers back in the driver’s seat of the global economy Now it’s up to Congress and President Trump to get the job done here comes the adjournment of the 2025 ND Legislative Session I follow the headlines from afar and there is some seemingly never-ending shocking stuff about Holmberg The people who live and work in the ND disability community are looking at meager 1.5 or 2% increases some real bickering on the part of the legislators on how they are going to wrap this session up much as there might be some smiling faces put out there for us to see There are some vetoes and some signings and some “christmas tree” bills and some talk about “making sausage.” I was just visiting some family members in Mississippi and talking of this and something was said about “but North Dakota is rich on oil” to which I said but that’s not going to last forever” and the consensus was “Lord a Mercy we commonfolk are going to pay the price” and such as it has been and such it will be until the cows come home Will the National Park System and public lands in general It's not often that we
