job-embedded Bachelor of Science program in education
This innovative program is designed to enable apprentices to learn while they earn as they complete their teacher licensure requirements
The State Apprenticeship Expansion Formula Infrastructure Development (SAEF 2) Grant will fund BSU’s creation of a comprehensive online education degree that aligns seamlessly with the West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE) and the U.S

emphasized the program’s innovative approach: “This Grant enables us to reimagine teacher preparation through a ‘learn while you earn’ model
Our fully online Bachelor of Science program will allow apprentice teachers to immediately apply what they’re learning in their own classrooms
creating a powerful feedback loop between theory and practice.”
“This job-embedded approach not only makes teaching more accessible as a career path but produces educators who are exceptionally well-prepared for classroom realities,” added Stiltner
Bluefield State University will develop a fully online
job-embedded Bachelor of Science in Education program that integrates directly with the WVDE and DOL registered Teacher Apprentice Program
The university will design comprehensive support systems to ensure apprentice success
while implementing specialized pathways for high-need certification areas
BSU will also establish strategic partnerships with school districts across the state to place apprentices in classrooms where they can immediately apply their learning while earning their degrees
“This initiative addresses a critical need in West Virginia by expanding access to high-quality teacher preparation while strengthening our local schools,” said Edward Toman
“By allowing aspiring educators to gain hands-on experience in classrooms while completing their degrees
this program ensures that West Virginia students benefit from well-prepared
committed teachers who understand the unique needs of our communities.”
The project will include development and creation of collaborative articulation agreements with Community and Technical College partners
aimed at creating seamless pathways to a Bachelor of Science in Education with licensure
noted: “The alignment between BSU’s new program and the West Virginia Department of Educations registered Teacher Apprentice Program represents exactly the kind of innovation needed to address our state’s education workforce challenges
This collaborative approach creates multiple entry points to the teaching profession while maintaining rigorous standards.”

NVIDIA is adding a new feature for its BlueField-3 DPUs
The NVIDIA DOCA Argus is a new cybersecurity offering that leverages the hardware capabilities of the BlueField-3 to offload security functions from the host
The new NVIDIA DOCA Argus is designed to operate in AI compute nodes and detect and respond to attacks in AI workflows
This is important since AI Agents using RAG often have access to stores of corporate and other proprietary data
Argus uses memory forensics to monitor AI workflows for threats
Since it is a physical Arm-based processor with its own operating system and memory running on the DPU
the BlueField-3 DPU is able to do this in an agentless fashion and NVIDIA says it can be up to 1000x faster than other agentless solutions
NVIDIA has been pushing its partners and customers to add BlueField-3 DPUs as part of its north-south networking solution for AI servers
If you see a modern HGX platform or a GB platform
there is likely a BlueField-3 DPU for the north-south traffic and ConnectX or BlueField SuperNICs for the east-west traffic
If you are simply using the BlueField-3 DPU as a standard Ethernet NIC
it uses more power and costs much more than lower-cost 400GbE NICs
NVIDIA’s customers want to get something beyond what they can get with other NICs
or even the ConnectX-7 NICs found in many systems
Security is one big area that NVIDIA has been pushing for this extra capability and value add
Hopefully one of these days we get a few free minutes to see NVIDIA DOCA Argus in action. We have been covering the NVIDIA BlueField series since RSA 2017 when Mellanox BlueField was more of a NVMeoF solution
It is still a solution that seems like it has more room to grow
and the security angle is certainly one that we expect NVIDIA to leverage going forward
The AI factory is going to be a major area for companies to secure over the next few years

holding State to one run on two hits while striking out five
Austin Mann entered in relief and recorded the save
scattering six hits but allowing just one run with one strikeout and no walks
Bluefield State’s Angel Martinez and Colton Roberts each notched multi-hit games
with Martinez driving in a run in the fifth and Roberts adding an RBI single
the team struggled to cash in on opportunities
stranding eight runners and committing two costly errors
Wesleyan stormed back with a five-run eighth inning and held off a ninth-inning surge to edge Bluefield 8-7
Trailing 6-2 entering the top of the eighth
the Bobcats roared back against a fatigued Bluefield bullpen
Josh Ayala sparked the rally with a single and stolen base
Isaac Lough and Alex Smith both reached to load the bases before catcher Jamison Smith delivered a two-run fielder’s choice
An error and a sacrifice fly brought the score to 6-5
and Jack Tilton delivered the decisive blow—a two-run double to the gap in left center to give Wesleyan a 7-6 lead
Tilton finished the game 3-for-5 with two RBIs and two runs
continuing his standout day at the plate after a strong Game One performance
Drew Jrolf remained clutch for the Bobcats
going 2-for-5 with an RBI and a ninth-inning leadoff double that set up the go-ahead run
Lough added a sacrifice fly in the ninth to cap the scoring at 8-7
and Smith contributed two RBIs despite not recording a hit
Wesleyan produced just eight hits but made the most of Bluefield State’s four errors and nine free passes (three HBPs
Bluefield State outhit the Bobcats 12-8 and led for much of the game thanks to a balanced attack

going 4-for-5 with a double and two runs scored

The Big Blues built leads of 4-2 and 6-2 with help from RBIs by Nick Diaz
but defensive miscues in the late innings proved costly
transitioned to the mound for the final two innings and earned the win
He allowed one run on three hits while striking out three
The decisive moment came in the bottom of the ninth with the tying run on third
when Poteat struck out James Germosen to end the game and seal the win
Illich Purcell started the game for Wesleyan but struggled with command
allowing four runs and five walks in just 3.2 innings
Relievers Davis Weppler and Landon Wilder stabilized the game until Poteat closed it out
Jackson Harless took the loss for State after giving up the go-ahead runs in relief of Will Austin
