The man who was shot by an off-duty Palm Beach County sheriff’s deputy Saturday after an alleged altercation at a suburban Boca Raton apartment complex pool
the sheriff’s office Monday released the name of the deputy involved in the Saturday morning shooting as Alex Alfonso
at the community pool at Reflections of Boca Del Mar
saw Ribeiro and a woman engaged in sex and asked them to leave
who was sitting in a lounge chair at the pool
Ribeiro was holding a wine bottle and “raised it up and attempted to strike the off-duty deputy,” according to PBSO
The sheriff’s office released a photo of the bottle — Hob Nob Pinot Noir — Monday afternoon
Ribeiro was taken to Delray Medical Center in critical condition; his condition was unknown as of Monday
Ribeiro lives in a community near Reflections of Boca Del Mar
The name of the woman Ribeiro was with has not been released
Alfonso was placed on administrative leave while an investigation is completed
Records show that Ribeiro has been arrested several times in North Carolina and was twice sentenced to prison
He served just under four months after a May 2004 arrest for driving with a revoked license while he was on probation and was sentenced to four months in May 2009 for communicating threats but served less than three months
Ribeiro also has been arrested for resisting arrest
possession of narcotics with intent to sell
larceny and possession of drug paraphernalia
The shooting was the second in 2014 involving a sheriff’s deputy
Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputies are required to carry loaded
concealed handguns while off-duty as long as it is practical
The sheriff’s office policy regarding carrying weapons by off-duty deputies states: “Certified law enforcement deputies shall carry concealed on or about their person an approved loaded handgun when off duty and when not made impractical by the nature of their activities (sports
The Mizner Trail Golf Club in suburban Boca Raton, Florida, has sold for $33.3 million to a West Palm Beach-based real estate company that could build homes on the shuttered golf course
The sale was recorded on Tuesday by the Palm Beach County clerk's office
declined to discuss exact plans for the golf course nestled in the Boca del Mar housing residential communities
The course is south of Palmetto Park Road between Military Trail and Powerline Road in unincorporated Palm Beach County
"It's an extremely strategic and important development for the county," said the North American Development official
"We will be coming forward with a development plan in the near term."
One option could be single-family home rentals
fueled by a post-pandemic desire for distance and even millennials priced out by high levels of student debt and even higher home prices
owned for years by Boca Raton-based Compson Associates
received zoning approval in 2014 for 252 residences
zero-lot line single-family homes and apartments
West Palm Beach housing analyst Brad Hunter said Mizner Trails now is slated for the newest housing trend: newly built
The North American Development official wouldn't discuss whether the project will feature new single-family homes for rent
but he noted that he is familiar with this housing trend and considers it "very appropriate" for the property
Residents surrounding the closed golf course spent years fighting efforts to build homes on the 125-acre property
Lawsuits even were filed to block development of the site
which in 2014 ultimately won Palm Beach County commission approval for redevelopment
ListGolfweek's Best 2020: Top 100 Best Courses You Can Play
developers throughout the county have had increasing success transforming shuttered golf courses into housing communities despite objections from nearby residents upset about the loss of their views
With land becoming scarce and interest in golf waning
many clubs have shuttered or sold to real estate developers eager to build homes on these in-fill sites
If the Mizner Trails golf course is developed into for-rent new homes
the property would join a growing trend that started in the western United States and is moving east
Hunter said people already were seeking the space and privacy of single-family homes before the coronavirus pandemic
But now stand-alone homes are even more desired
People seeking to avoid the highly contagious coronavirus want to live in places where they can bypass a lobby
or enter a residence without having to stand by an elevator with other people
Residents wanting to live in a single-family house may also be unable to afford to buy a home
many people do not have the money for hefty down payments on single-family houses
This is especially the case with millennials dealing with student loan debt and a tight job market
renting is the only option for many residents
but some people still want to live in a house with a backyard and playground for children
who could afford to buy a home and come up with a down payment
but prefer the lifestyle of renting," Hunter added

A willet dips its toes into the water on Boca Chica Beach
about 20 miles northeast of Brownsville and it was likely some of the same thousand acres now managed by Musk’s companies
Robertson built the railroad that connected the Rio Grande Valley to the wider world
serving as sheriff and helping to run the Ku Klux Klan out of the region.
He had repurposed the old channels known as resacas to irrigate the lower valley
he gathered RGV leaders in Brownsville’s El Jardin Hotel to make his pitch for an oceanside highway that would run from Boca Chica all the way up Padre Island to Corpus Christi
“the most beautiful 150 miles of highway in the world.”
Robertson laid out his vision before the Rio Grande Valley Commercial Club
“I have traveled somewhat extensively in this world,” he said
“and have never seen any scenery wilder or more beautiful than this stretch of beach.”
Robertson was not only an entrepreneur; he was a decorated soldier and noted engineer
he served as a scout for General Jack Pershing in the pursuit of Pancho Villa in Mexico
he served in Europe as a commander of the 22nd Engineers
building railroads and bridges for Allied troops in France
He was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal for bravery under fire.
The business leaders of the Valley trusted his vision because they believed his claims
He wasn’t pitching a blacktop road.
“The beach is as smooth as a billiard table,” Robertson said
“No road can be constructed by man as good for autoing as the beach
and the Gulf of Mexico maintains it.”
All you would need is maintenance crews to move driftwood out of the way
telling those assembled that he had explored the beach from Corpus Christi to the mouth of the Rio Grande River and that a highway was quite possible and would bring in enormous numbers of tourists
Just “throw across” some bay bridges at either end
and you’d be open for business.
Such a development would be good for the Rio Grande Valley
Valleyites could have a Sunday lunch at home
then drive to the beach for a Sunday afternoon swim at the beach and still be home by 10 p.m.
Robertson’s oceanside highway was never developed
But looking at South Padre and North Padre today
just north of Boca Chica with their causeway bridges
you can see that his dream for the island has been partially realized.
Robertson opened his Del Mar Resort on Boca Chica Beach in 1931
but the resort was virtually wiped out by a hurricane two years later
He rebuilt within six months and constructed an asphalt road from Brownsville to Boca Chica Beach because his personal mantra was: “Civilization follows transportation.”

Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office deputies said
Deputies said Gomez lost control of the Genesis and spun into the grassy median
slid sideways through the grass and started to roll. When the Genesis left the median and entered the westbound lanes of Camino Real
The car then landed upside down on top of a 2014 Mercedes C250 traveling westbound on Camino Real

Peter Blum and his family came to Boca Raton from Peoria
when it was still just this side of a sleepy resort town
FAU was still an idea and Lynn University was still the College of Boca Raton
and it’s fair to say Blum had a hand in many of those changes
The Blums opened what was then a small furniture store in Boca
(“If you move to Florida and don’t get into real estate
he began a lifelong involvement in the community that would change it forever
Blum says the business was successful from the start
That life included starting the Boosters Club at Boca High
being a Boca Raton Community Hospital trustee for 20 years (chairman of the board for nine)
work with the College of Boca Raton and much more
But the achievement of which he is most proud is the founding of Boca’s YMCA
first in a tiny downtown storefront and now commanding the sprawling campus of the Peter Blum Family YMCA of Boca Raton near Boca Del Mar
and when I was a little boy I lived at the Y—I played all the sports
When I moved to Florida there was no YMCA in Boca Raton
‘We ought to start a YMCA.’ People back then said Boca is a small town—there are no kids—what are you going to do with a YMCA
How he got it off the ground: “Everything just happened—with a lot of hard work and a lot of money out of your pocket
I was a fundraiser who went out and picked peoples’ pockets to raise money for the Y
[Boca pioneer and historical society advocate] David Ashe helped
[insurance magnate] Gene Lynn came along—he was a good friend
On the importance of the Y: “Last year we had 10,000 members
and it’s not a YMCA anymore—it’s a Y—boys and girls
There are fitness programs for elderly people; we give swimming lessons to babies starting at 6 months old
The Y has probably saved 100,000 lives teaching young people how to swim
Why he did it: “It makes me feel good; it’s a lot more fun to give than to get

2019 We have over a dozen incidents to report involving West Boca residents
including a Century Village resident accused of selling cocaine
Boca Del Mar had a few incidents along with Sandalfoot Cove and Mission Bay
68-year-old Albert Cox was arrested after he sold powder cocaine on two occasions to an undercover PBSO investigator
One sale took place at the Publix Greenwise near Town Center Mall
In both transactions Cox charged $60 for 0.8 grams of powder cocaine
The transactions were in late February and early March
We don’t see much criminal history for Cox
In 1999 he had an aggravated assault charge in Broward
He lived in the Sonata subdivision of Mission Bay at the time
He currently lives in the Mansfield section of Century Village in West Boca
Yvena Beauzieux (25) and Leslie Cetoute (27) were arrested following execution of a search warrant at their apartment in Boca Arbor Club
This was a joint operation with PBSO and BSO working together
following up on a “large trafficking arrest one week prior.”
The search revealed substantial quantities of a variety of drugs including heroin
Cetoute had an outstanding warrant for a reckless driving case from 2015
Heis also facing a first degree felony in Broward
which goes nicely with his significant criminal history including time in state prison
Beauzieux also has some criminal history but not as extensive
Delray PD arrested Fabrizio Valenzuela Oddone (22) for DUI
The Boca Colony (Boca Del Mar) resident was stopped at 3:45 am – nothing good happens after 2 am
It’s not clear if the officer had a valid basis for the stop
but it sounds like he found him before the stop asleep at the Cut 432 restaurant and put him in a Lyft to take him home
Oddone then got out of the Lyft and into his car
At the station Oddone blew 0.147 and 0.160
Those results are close enough to be allowed in court
but far apart enough to make us wonder if the machine was working properly
Pedro Cardoso (28) of Sandalfoot Cove had his second felony drug arrest of the year. We previously wrote about his unfair arrest in June
In this incident Cardoso was sitting in his car in an apartment complex in West Boynton when a deputy sheriff approached and saw bags of drugs inside the car
He was arrested and charged with possession of heroin and cocaine
Olympic Heights student Linwoolse Silin (18) of the Sandalfoot Boulevard Condos was arrested for grand theft of a vehicle
possession of a stolen firearm and illegally carrying a concealed weapon
A witness at Town Center Mall called police after overhearing Silin and another man bragging about stealing cars
Boca PD arrived identified a Kia Soul in the parking lot that matched the witness’ description and the key Silin was wearing on a lanyard on his neck
During the arrest police also found Silin was carrying an Argentinian 9mm handgun that had been reported stolen from Broward
We see no other criminal history for Silin
He had 3 minor traffic tickets in November of 2018
Stanley Jean (18) from East Delray and Atlantic High
was also arrested under similar circumstances for a Honda Civic reported stolen from Broward
Hannah Tippett (18) of Boca Arbor Club in Boca Del Mar was arrested after what appears to have been a minor dispute with her boyfriend
Despite a fresh scratch on his arm and hand
he did not want her arrested or prosecuted
The incident apparently happened in East Boca
The boyfriend is reportedly a resident of Boca Lyons Estates in West Boca
Benjamin Bieber (28) of East Boca was arrested for leaving the scene of a personal injury acccident in Boynton Beach
According to police he ran a red light while driving his motorcycle and collided with a car
The car’s driver went to the hospital
He called police later and told them where he was
There’s an odd mistake in the report indicating he was arrested on Linton in Delray
That probably isn’t enough for a defense to the case but you never know
We see no significant criminal history for him
James Van Dyke (58) of Watergate Estates was arrested on a warrants from Broward County after he failed to appear on a trespassing charge from one incident and a municipal ordinance violation from another incident
We reported on a felony arrest for Van Dyke in May of this year.
Alison Archer (44) was arrested in Palm Beach Gardens for DUI. The resident of Arium Apartments in Central Boca was stopped after 2 am. Remember – nothing good happens after 2 am. She registered 0.18 on two breath tests, more than double the legal limit.
We see no prior criminal history for Ms. Archer, other than some traffic and parking tickets.
21-year-old Alexander Livingston of East Boca was arrested for stealing his mother’s car. He has an extensive history of over 20 court cases including felonies in 2018, 2017, 2016 and 2015.
Craig Barnes (32) was arrested for felony domestic battery by strangulation. His girlfriend told Boca PD that he grabbed her by the throat and threatened to kill her and her dog.
Barnes was arrested in 2018 in a domestic violence case and was sentenced to 198 days in jail. He was also arrested in 2017 for felony battery on a pregnant victim – the same girlfriend. He got 14 days on that one.

Greystar Sells Four Multifamily Properties; Opens Office in Chile The portfolio comprises four rental apartment properties—Bella Vista at Boca Del Mar, Centro at Davie, Stonybrook Apartments and Savannah Lakes—totaling 16.6 million rentable square feet and 1,616 units.
The portfolio comprises four rental apartment properties—Bella Vista at Boca Del Mar
Stonybrook Apartments and Savannah Lakes—totaling 16.6 million rentable square feet and 1,616 units
Greystar also reports it has opened a new office in Santiago
Chile to expand its business operations to major markets in Latin America
In terms of its portfolio sale in South Florida, Greystar, an investment, development and management company, acquired the four properties in 2013 with Goldman Sachs as part of a national 27-property portfolio purchase valued at $1.5 billion. The company completed extensive renovations to units, clubhouses and amenities at each South Florida property.
No financial terms of the transaction or the identity of the buyer were revealed by Greystar. ARA Newmark represented Greystar in the transaction. Executive managing directors Hampton Beebe and Avery Klann and director Jonathan Senn completed the assignment.
The Carroll Organization and PGIM Real Estate in a separate announcement reports that a joint venture of the two companies acquired the four properties. All the newly acquired South Florida properties will be rebranded under the ARIUM name and managed by the Carroll Management Group.
The acquisition by the Caroll-PGIm joint ventute was led by Jim Mehalso, Atlanta-based managing director and head of Southeast transactions at PGIM Real Estate, and Josh Champion, president and chief investment officer for the Carroll Organization.
The transaction marks the second joint venture between PGIM Real Estate and Carroll Organization. In December, the companies acquired a portfolio of 28 workforce housing properties in Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.
“The 'South Florida Value Portfolio' is a collection of high-quality, well-located apartment communities in one of the country's most valuable real estate markets, and we're very pleased with the outcome of this transaction,” states Kevin Kaberna, executive director and leader of Greystar's U.S. investment platform.
“This deal is another great example for the effectiveness of our value-add strategy,” he adds. “By leveraging our institutional knowledge and platform we were able to contain expense growth while driving rent growth through renovations to over 1,350 units.”
In terms of property specifics, the Bella Vista at Boca Del Mar is a 392-unit, residential community constructed in 1985 and is located within 10 minutes of business districts in Boca Raton and Cypress Creek.
Centro at Davie is a 494-unit residential community constructed in 1989 and is within walking distance of a number of college campuses, including Nova Southeastern University, Florida Atlantic University, Broward College and the University of Florida's Broward County campus. The community is located within 15 minutes of local beaches, as well as business districts in Sunrise, Plantation, Cypress Creek and Fort Lauderdale.
Stonybrook Apartments is a 264-unit residential community, built in 2001 that is positioned between West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Boynton Beach and Delray Beach. The property offers residents access to the Florida Turnpike and Interstate 95, as well as local beaches. Since 2010, the area has seen 11.4% population growth.
The fourth community traded was Savannah Lakes, a 466-unit residential community constructed in 1991. The property is located west of Interstate 95 and is accessible to business districts in West Palm Beach, Boca Raton, Boynton Beach and Delray Beach.
With the sale, Greystar currently manages more than 37,500 units in Florida, of which Greystar owns 5,500. Globally, Greystar owns more than 110,000 units and manages 400,000.
Speaking of its global presence, in connection with its Santiago, Chile office opening, Greystar reports that managing director Tom Livelli will lead the office and oversee Greystar's real estate investment and development activities in that country.
Livelli has been active in the multifamily industry in the United States and Latin America since 2006. Prior to joining Greystar last year, he was a senior vice president with Boston Andes Capital, a private equity real estate firm with offices in Boston, Bogotá, and Buenos Aires. He was also a director of Clark Realty Capital, where he was responsible for the financing and development of large-scale mixed-use and residential communities in California and Central America.

Home » Boca annexation comes to a halt and other news of note
Boca cancelled next week’s special city council meeting at which council members could have placed on the November ballot annexations of several neighborhoods on the city’s northwest border
26 is the deadline for getting any items on the Nov
Residents of the neighborhoods in question had too many questions
and the city didn’t have time to answer them
If smart lawyers know now to ask a question unless they already know the answer
smart cities don’t attempt annexation unless they know that vote will be favorable
the area to be annexed must approve it in a referendum
Boca Raton first had hoped to hold votes for those neighborhoods in December
which would have allowed more time for an information campaign
But Supervisor of Elections Susan Bucher said her office could not stage the vote so soon after the general election
So the push was on to make the November ballot
residents of Boniello Acres opposed coming into the city
Many speakers feared losing their suburban menageries
Though Deputy City Manager George Brown explained
that they would retain the Palm Beach County code that allows the animals
Brown and council members would have met with those residents in their neighborhood to address that and other issues long before any council meeting
an email this week to Mayor Susan Haynie from the secretary of the Fieldbrook Estates Homeowners Association noted that residents had received notices of the proposed annexation by mail and that no one from the city ever had attended an HOA meeting
and deliver notice by mail right before your first meeting,” Brian Ross wrote
when much of our membership are not in town
has been considered disrespectful by many in Fieldbrook and our neighboring communities
It gives many of us the feeling that the whole exercise is designed to insure that we have no say in the matter
Potential residents determine that they would be better off within a city than within a county
The city determines that adding the residents would be a net revenue gain after calculating the cost of providing services to the new residents
City staff had determined that Boca would come out ahead financially by adding the roughly 700 residents of Azura
As with a restaurant on the Wildflower property
Boca Raton is seeking ways to add revenue beyond that from property taxes
Those opposed to annexation and/or the restaurant haven’t offered their ideas for alternate revenue sources
cities shouldn’t hold annexation votes if they might lose
Councilman Robert Weinroth had strongly favored annexing the northwest neighborhoods
but on Tuesday he emailed an Azura resident to say that he would recommend cancelling next week’s meeting “so we don’t make people feel they are being railroaded into joining the city.” Weinroth said his interest in annexation began with Azura expressing interest in being annexed
Haynie told me Wednesday that even with a December election it would have been hard to conduct a proper outreach because of holiday schedules
“that we didn’t do better than a letter in the mail.”
agreed that it’s time for a “restart” on annexation
Haynie intends to meet with the president of the Boniello Acres HOA
Weinroth said he wanted to schedule a meeting with Azura residents
Ross’ email to Haynie lists all the items the city will need to discuss
and it shows how misinformation can spread
Ross raises the issue of the Greater Boca Raton Beach & Park District
Current county residents would have to know that they would pay the district tax in addition to the city tax
A local bill in the Legislature would bring any of the neighborhoods into the district
Weinroth raised another factor for residents in those neighborhoods to consider
Residents of those neighborhoods northwest of Boca Raton vote only for their county commissioner – Mary Lou Berger
The other six commissioners run from their own districts
and thus aren’t accountable to Berger’s constituents
Boca Del Mar residents opposed development of the former Mizner Trail Golf Course
voted against the development with Paulette Burdick
the one reliable vote against overdevelopment
Boca council members run citywide; all of them are accountable to all residents
So the city will “regroup,” to use Weinroth’s term
but annexation of some or all of those neighborhoods still could make sense
Greater Boca Raton Beach & Park District Budget
the Greater Boca Raton Beach & Park District on Monday revised its upcoming budget to reflect a full payment to the Boca Raton Community Redevelopment Agency
district board chairman Bob Rollins had informed the city that the district’s payment would be the same as this year
even though property values have increased
Any entity that levies taxes within a CRA must remit added revenue to the CRA
City Attorney Diana Grub Frieser had responded that state law didn’t permit such a reduction
Rollins said the district wants to be a good partner with the city
perhaps by helping to build parks within the CRA and renovate the community center next to the City Hall
Communication Issues with the Beach & Park Disrict
I have written recently about complaints among Boca city council members and administrators about the beach and park district’s lack of communication
city staff members have been reviewing the district’s revisions to the city’s version of an agreement that would cover all joint park and beach operations
though the city continues to insist that the agreement is a priority
Mayor Haynie told me Wednesday that some key staff members have been on vacation
but she acknowledged that the review has dragged on
“I will speak with (City Manager) Leif (Ahnell),” Haynie said
Here’s one last item on the beach and park district:
The political action committee of the Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce has endorsed challenger Craig Ehrnst in the Seat 1 race and incumbent Earl Starkoff in the Seat 3 race
Before the Boca Raton Planning and Zoning Board tonight is a very Boca item
The owner of a self-storage facility on 20th Street wants to add a second story
the change would require changes to the comprehensive plan and the code
Mayor Haynie told me that the company wants to add a “mezzanine.” Where else but Boca Raton could a self-storage unit sound like a theater
the problem is that the change would mean an increase in the floor-to-area ratio
and the increase could apply to all areas of similar zoning within the city
At Tuesday night’s Delray Beach City Commission meeting
a representative of Human Powered Delray asked about the recent death of a Boca Raton woman who was killed when she fell on the Florida East Coast Railway tracks north of Atlantic Avenue before an oncoming train
Her husband was unable to move her in time
Patrick Halliday asked if the city would meet with representatives of All Aboard Florida whose Brightline passenger service is supposed to start operating next year
Thirty-two trains a day will be using those tracks
Halliday wants the city and the company to discuss ways to prevent similar tragedies
City Manager Don Cooper told me Wednesday that he has contacted Halliday “and we are in the process of arranging a meeting” with All Aboard Florida
Mayor Carey Glickstein also said he had discussed with U.S
Lois Frankel the need for safety measures along the track
improvements are crossings will have a created a “quiet zone” that will remove the need for trains to blow their horn
the passenger trains will be traveling much faster than freight trains do
Al Jacquet did show for Tuesday’s night Delray commission meeting
but he didn’t stop campaigning for the Florida House District 88 seat
Community Improvement Department Director Michael Coleman cited the department’s success in helping Haitian-American residents to understand the requirements to maintain their property and
to understand how they can meet those requirements
Jacquet faces former Delray Beach commissioner Angeleta Gray and Riviera Beach lawyer Edwin Ferguson
Jacquet went on and on about past poor treatment of Haitian-American residents – he had a point — and the need for more government documents to be in Creole
“are the largest immigrant group in Palm Beach County.”
Jacquet said of his colleagues on the dais
“I think I speak for all of us.” Despite his colleagues’ praise for Coleman

Adam Herzog (28, Boca Del Mar) was arrested on a warrant from Broward for a pending felony charge. He’s accused in that case of reckless driving, driving while suspended habitual (felony), leavin the scene of a property damage crash, and aggravated assault on law enforcement officers.
The officer’s description is better than we could do if we rewrote it.
Herzog has an extensive record including a state prison stint.
Maria Salazar (43, Thornhill Lake in Boca Del Mar) was arrested for battery on a police officer during an incident in the Tiburon II subdivision.
Deputies were called to the scene for a 911 call allegedly by Ms. Salazar. When deputies arrived she invited them in and then “suddenly became uncooperative.”
She told them to leave her home and they refused. She then pushed a deputy toward the door and “began to flail, kick and attempted to pull away” when the other deputy tried to arrest her for battery on the first deputy.
It’s not clear to us whether or not she had the right to use force to get the deputies to leave her home. The case will probably resolve without extensive litigation.
We do see multiple priors for Ms. Salazar including domestic incidents and driving under suspension.
Steven Rivers (age 24) was arrested by Boca PD at the Tri-Rail station after security wanted him trespassed for walking on the tracks. Officers approached him and he allegedly told them they could go through their pockets … where they found a relatively low-power handgun (.25 caliber). Rivers did not have a concealed carry license so he was arrested for carrying concealed without a license.
Born in Miami, Rivers identified himself as homeless and said he carries the gun for self-protection. We see no priors for him.
40 year old Nichole Denome White of Watergate Estates was arrested in the village of Royal Palm after a fight with her sister. Nichole apparently has suffered from schizophrenia for over 30 years. If you think you have problems in your life, read this description from Nichole’s mom.
We see only an old criminal traffic violation for her, but there may be other cases we don’t see.
Darren Ferger (43, Sandalfoot Cove) was arrested on a warrant from another county but we did not find out which county. He has a history of multiple traffic violations and some old felonies, but no FDLE record.
Maritza Lozada Pinillos (65, Mansfield in Century Village) was arrested for domestic battery and fleeing a law enforcement officer. This was their second visit of the night to that unit. After the first visit Pinillos allegedly attacked her husband, hitting him five times with an open and closed hand.
Pinillos had already left the scene, allegedly intoxicated, and refused to stop for police as she headed into Broward. The arrest circumstances are unclear but it looks like they picked her up two days later.
We see a prior domestic battery in Broward but no others.
55-year-old Guy Collichio of Gables Town Place was arrested for child abuse and domestic battery. The Boca PD affidavit is heavily redacted but it appears he is accused of some violence against his girlfriend and the girlfriend’s daughter.
For his part, he denied any violence and was just upset about his clothes being thrown out of the apartment.
He had a driving while suspended case in 2019.
In another incident involving Clear Brook Circle, Kris Marinos (age 56) of that street was arrested after midnight at Biergarten in East Boca. He allegedly shoved a woman and then hit her boyfriend in the head with a beer mug.
Matthew Garcia, 18, of Arbor Oaks (apartments north of West Boca Medical Center) was arrested for domestic battery after “side-kicking” his father in the stomach during an argument.

2020 A variety of small crimes fills our second report of the week
East Boca’s Lunzer Luzincourt (28) was arrested at Macy’s
Apparently he was so satisfied with previous visits there that he decided to become a repeat non-paying customer
The police affidavit indicates two thefts in mid-December before this one for a total of over $1100 in merchandise stolen
Luzincourt made our crime report in May and has quite a history. He’s a cook at Shane’s Rib Shack in Boynton.
Deborah De la Paz-Boxer (48, Boca Alta in Boca Del Mar) was arrested for domestic battery after allegedly throwing a shaving kit at her husband, hitting his finger and causing an injury. The charge has already been dropped.
She had a previous battery case in 2017 that was also dropped.
Harvey Hunter (42, Watergate Estates) was arrested for battery on Christmas morning after he allegedly choked his baby-mama when she wanted to take their kids to visit her mother. On Christmas.
He also allegedly threw a used diaper at her and it hit her in the face. On Christmas.
32-year-old Amber Webber (San Marino Town Place) is charged with felony battery on her 65-year-old boyfriend. The argument started over “cat feces underneath the bed” (apparently his cat).
Amber’s father told police a different story, that Amber is a narcotics addict and tried to get some of her boyfriend’s prescription medication. During the arrest police found an oxycodone pill in her purse.
Ms. Webber has a prior felony involving drugs and battery.
Edward Bresnick (47) was arrested after 2 am for DUI in the Sonata subdivision of Mission Bay. One odd details is his reported address is the UPS store in Mission Bay Plaza. We think he may actually live in Kings Point in Delray Beach but we’re not sure.
It’s not clear why he was in the Mission Bay community but he drove up onto the sidewalk and nearly hit a car with kids in it. This prompts another question – why were kids in a car after 2 am. The kids’ father managed to get Bresnick to stop and he called deputies.
Bresnick told deputies he had been at Duffy’s drinking Aboluts and 7s (vodka and 7-up).
On a breath test Bresnick registered 0.14 and then 0.123, results that are far enough apart to raise a defense lawyer’s eyebrows.
We see no prior criminal cases for him, but quite a few traffic tickets.
39-year-old Michael Regan of Country Park was arrested for battery. You know the world has changed when you find out the argument started when his wife turned off the Wifi.
The argument “got physical” when he yanked her necklace off, causing redness and a minor abrasion.
Maurice Jackson (45) was arrested for cocaine in the parking lot of The Brickyard. Jackson had been sitting in his running car which was apparently suspicious to the deputy. As Jackson was walking from his car to The Brickyard the deputy says he consented to a search which led to the cocaine.
Hopefully for the deputy’s sake that consent is recorded on a body camera.

DUI and Domestic Violence ByWarren Redlich August 13
Watergate Estates and East Boca residents involved
Boca Vista Estates) was arrested for DUI by the Florida Highway Patrol on an I-95 exit ramp
The arrest paperwork is a bit confusing as it says it was the exit ramp for Palm Beach Lakes Blvd but it also says it was in Delray Beach
She’s accused of DUI causing damage to property and of leaving the scene
A driver accused her of colliding with his pickup and a second witness reported the same
Hernandez Irias and noticed signs of intoxication
She claimed she’s a paralegal (we did not find her license when we looked her up) and refused field sobriety tests
At the station she registered a 0.155 on one breath sample which was found unreliable
She did not complete a second sample and that was marked as a refusal
East Boca) was arrested after his girlfriend appeared at JFK Medical Center (Lantana) with substantial injuries including a laceration that required 17 stitches
“bruising all over her body,” cigarette burn marks
They allegedly had multiple fights involving alcohol
She said he punched her in the face multiple times on more than one occasion
She also accused him of grabbing her phone and destroying it
It’s not clear whether the girlfriend will be cooperative with the prosecution
Broward court records show multiple cases involving Fontaine including drugs and domestic violence
Gables Boca Place in Boca Del Mar) was arrested in Boynton Beach
The initial encounter with police seems a little dubious
The “violent crimes task force” was patrolling
saw a silver Lincoln speeding and tried to stop it
A chase of sorts ensued and at one point Jones “bailed from the vehicle” (he was a passenger) and ran away on foot
The arresting officer caught Jones and charged him with resisting without violence
a low-level charge that will likely be dismissed
Watergate Estates) was arrested for cocaine possession after a traffic stop in East Boca
Eastep was a passenger in the vehicle and the arresting deputy recognized her from previous encounters
A crack pipe was found on the floor near another passenger
Eastep had a spoon with a burnt substance on her lap
and deputies found crack cocaine in her purse
We see four recent felony arrests in court records
and a total of 19 cases (not all criminal)
Robert Nersissian (41, East Boca) appeared in our crime reports in June of 2019 for a DUI case. He’s back, this time with three incidents.
The Lebanon-born Nersissian was arrested at a Publix for trespassing after having been previously ordered off the property by a store manager. He also has a recent case for hitting his girlfriend.
His most serious case is felony robbery at the Kwik Stop on Camino Real. The store clerk recognized him from past incidents and insisted on being paid before handing an e-cigarette to Nersissian.
Nersissian punched a computer monitor, counters and plexi-glass, and then walked out of the store with a 4-pack of beer he hadn’t paid for.
We see numerous cases in the Palm Beach County courts under his name.

Several aisles of shelves collapsed at a Party City in suburban Boca Raton Tuesday morning
It happened at the store in the Palms Plaza At Boca Del Mar on Powerline Road
RELATED: Photos from the scene
LW Black says he was installing a greeting card display inside the store when the shelves fell
"You really can't sit back and think on what's happening because it's happening so fast," he explained
He says the first shelf to fall hit him on his back
He started screaming to warn the few other people inside the store what was happening
"You're hoping there's nobody in those aisles shopping because they wouldn't have had time to get out of there," he says
The noise of the collapse so loud people outside the building heard it
It was a very long thunder," said Susana Seiter
She rushed over toParty City to see what happened and was shocked to see everything from the walls scattered on the floor
The whole thing came down," Seiter describes the wall of the store
which is normally packed with shelves and merchandise.
Palm Beach County Fire Rescue tweeted out several photos which showed the scene inside the store
seven aisles of shelves collapsed and three people had minor injuries
combed through the shelving to make sure there were no other victims
Party City issued the following statement following the incident:
"The safety of our customers and employees is our number one priority
and we are committed to providing a safe environment
We're looking into the situation to pinpoint the exact cause
and the store remains closed at this time."

Alexander Acevedo (age 23) was arrested twice in the same week. It started when he got angry about his mom telling him to sweep the floor. He shoved her into her bedroom. She managed to lock herself in and got her handgun to protect herself.
He stormed out of the Sandalfoot Cove apartment and she called 911.
Five days later he allegedly used a knife to threaten employees at Miller’s Ale House on Glades. When deputies confronted him he ran out the side door. Deputies and a K9 gave chase, eventually finding him hiding in a trash can, possibly behind the plaza.
Acevedo has had several cases in the Palm Beach County courts including felonies.
Angela Connelly (29) was arrested for hitting her mother in the head at their home off Judge Winikoff. Ms. Connelly was angry about her brother having cats in the house.
Huchnartheu Durandisse (31) was arrested for attempted murder after he stabbed a 76-year-old woman outside the Sandalfoot Publix.
This started with a dispute over rent. He allegedly admitted to deputies that he decided to stab her.
He bought the knife at Publix, planning the stabbing for that night. Serendipity struck and he heard her voice while he was inside Publix. He stabbed her twice in the side and ran when a man on a motorcycle confronted him.
While other news stories describe him as a Boca man, the police affidavit indicates his permanent address is in Pompano near Military Trail and Sample.
We see no priors for him. The affidavit indicates he was born in Haiti. He has a Florida drivers license as well as a social security number. His immigration status is unclear to us.
Daniel Gonzales (41, Whitehall in Boca Del Mar) was arrested in the Watergate Estates trailer park for cocaine.
A deputy saw him “walking away from the area known for high drug activity.” The deputy followed him, then exited his unmarked vehicle and asked Gonzales what he had in his hand.
Gonzales opened his hand to reveal a crack pipe and it went downhill from there.
We see a few minor cases in Gonzales’ past, though the deputy indicated he recognized him, so he may have more to his past than we can see.
Hair stylist David Hannan (37, East Boca resident in the “FAU Ghetto”, works at Salon Cielo in Town Center) was arrested for felony domestic battery.
His girlfriend accused him of pushing her to the floor. Her head hit the floor, causing it to “bleed profusely” and she was treated as a trauma patient by the EMTs.
Hannan had a 2018 domestic felony case and the arresting officer noted a history between Hannan and the victim, charging him with felony battery. The felony appears to be based on the severity of the injury.
Edgar Gilmore (25, East Boca) was arrested for domestic battery after a scuffle with his 17-year-old brother. It all started with an argument over parking cars outside the home.
Both Edgar and his brother minimized the dispute, but the officer arrested Edgar anyway.
30-year-old Jademil Torres-Vadell (Cypresses of Boca Lago) was arrested for battery on a deputy. He was pulled over for speeding (70 in a 50) on 441 in Lake Worth.
Torres-Vadell would not hand over his drivers license and at one point allegedly rolled up the passenger side window on a deputy’s fingers, trapping the deputy to the car.
A physical encounter followed. Not surprisingly, the deputies subdued him and arrested him. Torres-Vadell then claimed he didn’t want to give his information because of the corona virus.
This is how you turn a simple speeding ticket into a felony.
Troy Kranitz (52, Sandalfoot Cove) was arrested at the Garden Shops Publix (Palmetto near Powerline). The victim was standing in line at the customer service counter when Kranitz walked up from behind and kicked him in the leg, took a few swings at him, grabbed the victim’s glasses and threw them at the victim.
Kranitz is or was the owner of the now closed European Auto Service in Shadowood.
The victim indicated he had worked for Kranitz’ father in the past. Kranitz has multiple priors including domestic violence.

We also have a West Boca doctor accused of hit and run and a DUI
a Loggers’ Run resident with a drunken throat punch
and a Sandalfoot Cove man accused of DUI on I-95
Meryl and Maxwell Bernstein were arrested and booked at about the same time in PBSO’s Gun Club Road location
Max (18) was arrested for burglarizing multiple cars in August in the Montoya Estates West subdivision where he and mom both live
According to the PBSO affidavit Max admitted burglarizing the cars
identified himself in security camera footage
He also told deputies he lost the hat in the video and he misses it
We see no prior criminal history for Max but we probably wouldn’t see anything from before he was 18
Meryl (63) was arrested for bouncing a $320 check to a doctor’s office
She allegedly wrote the check back in March of 2018
Pro tip – Don’t bounce a check in Florida
Meryl has had a few cases in the court system including a couple of evictions (now resolved) and a new small claims lawsuit against her filed by a criminal defense law firm
Update: We have now reviewed the small claims complaint
The defense law firm sued Meryl because she stopped a check she had written them for representing Max in a juvenile case
They hired the firm in late May and the check was rejected in early June
The agreement indicates Max was charged with 2 felony possession counts and “resisting with violence.”
Zackary Kramer (26) of Century Village (Dorset I) was arrested after an 3 am incident at Palmetto Park Road and St
A deputy noticed what appeared to be a disabled vehicle and saw an unconscious man through the windshield
(which were apparently semi-opaque from condensation on the inside) the driver became responsive and sped off
The deputy was instructed not to give chase
Deputies went to the address that same evening and arrested Kramer
From the affidavit it’s not clear if the deputy was able to positively identify Kramer as the unconscious man in the car
He’s charged with fleeing and eluding
Court records show minor marijuana charges in 2016 and 2012
65-year-old Madonna Turner (Tiburon II subdivision off Palmetto Circle) was arrested at a gas station near the Town Center
Upon being told multiple times by a policeman to back up her car
Turner in return repeatedly responded “**** you!” When asked to park
she instead drove away and avoided being pulled over
Eventually she finally gave up on the low-intensity chase and was arrested
We see no court history for Turner other than a few traffic tickets earlier in August
33-year-old Luis Prieto and his girlfriend headed back to their in the brand new Palmetto Promenade apartment building
and started smoking crack out of a broken beer can
His girlfriend saw this and knocked it out of his hand because she said he gets violent when he does crack
Prieto then grabbed another beer can to use
including covering her mouth and nose with his hands so she couldn’t breathe
He is charged with felony domestic battery by strangulation and misdemeanor simple domestic battery
We see no prior criminal history for the Havana-born Prieto
Chiropractor David Bougie (54) was arrested at his home in East Boca for DUI and a hit and run (property damage)
Police subjected Bougie to a variety of sobriety tests
Bougie didn’t do too well and was arrested
It’s worth mentioning that he had a open bottle of Tito’s vodka in his car
There’s more to the story and he does have a potential defense
After the accident Bougie allegedly drove him and walked into his house
If Bougie testifies that he drank anything while inside the house
that would make it difficult to prove what his BAC was when he was in the car
He did speak to police during the arrest about drinking so that may not be viable
He refused a breath test and apparently has a prior suspension for refusing a breath test
Court records show a 2012 arrest for DUI that was resolved with a reckless driving and probation
Bougie’s chiropractic office is in West Boca on the northwest corner of Glades and Lyons
southeast Boca) was arrested — and fired from his job at a West Palm Beach Walmart — for fraud after putting over $1500 on the same prepaid card in multiple transactions over the course of 12 days
According to PBSO Dowling admitted to the theft
The arrest affidavit indicates he was born in Colorado
East Boca) was arrested for possession of Ketamine and possession of LSD after police searched his home with a search warrant and two warrants for Billy’s arrest
He was also in possession of marijuana but was not charged for it
Shuler previously appeared in one of our July crime reports this year.
An intoxicated William Cahill (52) was arrested for simple domestic battery after punching his wife in the throat because she was mad at him for drinking alcohol. The Cahills live in the Winding Lakes I subdivision of Loggers’ Run.

We also have a Lexington Estates man with an illegal concealed weapon, DUI for a young man from Lakes at Boca Raton, fraud in Boca Del Mar, and a couple batteries in Sandalfoot.
Marvin Duncan (55, Palmetto Pines) was arrested on a felony warrant out of Virginia.
It appears he’s accused of using a computer to solicit sex from a child between the age of 7 and 15.
We don’t see any priors for Mr. Duncan and our court files do not contain any details of the case in Virginia.
Duncan is contesting extradition and remains for now in our county jail.
Frantz Demezier (19, East Boca) was arrested for forcible sexual assault. Details are in the affidavit as follows:
The young genius left his “Nike slides” in the apartment during the incident in December. Police swabbed the sandal and it came up with a match for Demezier. The victim then picked Demezier out of a photo lineup as her assailant.
We see no priors for Demezier so we’re not sure why his DNA is in the system. This suggests he might have a juvenile record we can’t see.
Jessika Alves (28, Villas of Sandalfoot) of Boca Del Mar was arrested and charged with domestic battery on her mother. Deputies had been called to a “domestic disturbance.” On their arrival the mom wanted Alves “Baker Acted.”
Deputies did not see sufficient cause for a Baker Act proceeding. The mom then said that Alves had hit her. Deputies then began investigating this as a domestic battery. The mom refused to allow her injuries to be photographed and refused to fill out a sworn statement.
Alves admitted pushing and hitting her mother and was arrested.
Virginia Gabante Gonzalez (26, East Boca, citizen of Venezuela) was arrested for fleeing law enforcement at high speed. The police affidavit indicates that she hit a median while making a turn. When police attempted to pull her over she accelerated to estimated speeds of 90-100 miles per hour. This is on NW 2nd Ave off of Glades in East Boca.
At some later time – it’s not clear how much later – Boca PD found the same vehicle after it had been in an accident. Gonzalez denied hitting the median and said she thought the police officer was trying to pull someone else over.
According to the officer Gonzalez later admitted fleeing because she had been drinking. She also faces charges for reckless driving from the accident, though there’s no apparent DUI charge.
Joseph Terzo (21, Hidden Lakes in East Boca), was arrested for stealing a beige 2005 Lincoln Town Car, quite possibly the most boring car stolen in history.
Terzo was stopped by police and he got out of the car and ran, leaving the vehicle in gear and moving. An alert officer from Boca PD was able to get in and stop the car.
The victim told police he regularly leaves his car unlocked in the driveway with the keys under the driver’s seat.
During the arrest police found drugs on Terzo including oxycodone, alprazolam (Xanax), clonalzepam (Klonopin), and some drug paraphernalia as well.
Terzo had previous felony drug cases in 2017 and 2018.
Kayla Mejia (25, Boca Del Mar) was arrested for check fraud. The Boynton Beach Chipotle employee is accused of attempting to cash a bogus check at a TD Bank in Boynton.
Mejia told police that her boyfriend, a fellow Chipotle employee, offered her $500 to cash the check for him. It does not appear that the boyfriend has been charged, at least not yet.
Pro tip – If someone offers you $500 to cash a check for them, it’s obviously fake.
Jake Murdoch (19, Lakes at Boca Raton) was arrested for DUI on Yamato Road near Patch Reef Park. A Boca PD officer noticed him turning west onto Yamato around 4 am and initially going into the eastbound lanes. He did catch himself, backed up, and then went into the correct westbound lanes.
During the drive to the police station Murdoch advised that he had to throw up. The officer let him out of the car and Murdoch threw up on the side of the road. Murdoch refused a breath test.
21-year-old Darvin Pinales of Lexington Estates was arrested at 4:40 am on US-441 near West Boca Medical Center.
A deputy first observed the car heading south near Glades, failing to stay in its lane and veering into the bike lane at least a couple times.
“Upon approaching the vehicle I encountered the overwhelming odor of marijuana. As I walked closer … the odor only grew stronger and stronger.”
During the traffic stop deputies found a pistol in Pinales’ pocket. He was not happy to see them.
Not having a concealed carry license, Pinales was arrested for illegally carrying a concealed firearm. So far we see no charge filed for DUI.
Adolphe Alaby (48, Rosewood Apartments in Sandalfoot Cove) was arrested for domestic battery. His girlfriend reported multiple incidents over a period of 6 days according to the deputy sheriff.
We see a 1998 felony domestic battery case against Alaby from Broward County, but no other priors.

Jakeel Smith (25, Alister Apartments) was arrested for threatening a deputy sheriff and resisting without violence.
On reading the affidavit, it appears that the deputy entered Smith’s apartment – his home – based on a 911 call with limited information. He specifically noted the caller was uncooperative.
Nowhere in the affidavit is there any substance to why deputies entered other than that there was a call. Once they arrived there did not appear to be any reason for them to stay. At best it appeared Smith and his wife were emotional and had been arguing about a cell phone.
Smith ordered the deputy to leave the apartment. On the evidence in the affidavit, this appears to have been a lawful order. By refusing the deputy was at least arguably trespassing.
Smith had already been insulting toward the deputy and now began to make threats. The threats may be illegal under the circumstances, but it seems like Smith would have an argument that the deputy should have left before it got to that level.
We see no significant criminal history for Mr. Smith.
Lidiya Umansky (70) is a resident of The Gould House, a low-income housing facility on the Jewish Federation campus (south of Glades on 95th). She was arrested for felony battery in late April.
Deputies were called to a domestic dispute. Lidiya and her daughter were arguing because she wanted her daughter to move out of the apartment. The argument got physical with Lidiya pushing her daughter and at one point allegedly putting a pillow to the daughter’s face.
That led to a battery by strangulation charge though it seems weak. The deputy noted that the pillow was never placed over the victim’s face.
31-year-old Paul Maimon of Sandalfoot Cove is back again. This time he’s got two new cases.
In late April a deputy saw Maimon walking in the parking lot of the Boca Belaire apartments.
The deputy noted in his affidavit that Maimon has a history of car burglaries and does not live in Boca Belaire.
Maimon then entered a Toyota and began rummaging through it.
Then in mid-May, a resident of Boca Rio Townhomes saw Maimon try to get into his truck (locked) and then get into his wife’s unlocked vehicle. The victim chased Maimon while calling 911, and the deputy caught up to them both at the entrance to the Trends neighborhood where Maimon was arrested.
Maimon was carrying several stolen objects including sunglasses, a camera, and a cell phone.
Perry Brand (26, Reflections of Boca Del Mar) was arrested after midnight for drugs on Palmetto Park Road just east of I-95.
A Boca PD officer began to follow Brand’s vehicle after seeing him “driving slowly”. Brand allegedly “crossed into the right lane without signalling and across a solid white line”, which appears to be the pretext for a dubious traffic stop.
After a brief and non-confrontational encounter at the driver’s window, the officer ordered Brand out of the car “for safety purposes.” He then searched the car with nothing remotely resembling probable cause, finding what appeared to be crack cocaine and marijuana.
Brand is charged with felony possession of cocaine with intent to sell.
Court records show a prior arrest in 2017 that was dropped.
Sandra Guardiola (60, Watergate Estates) was arrested for felony battery. A witness called 911 after seeing Ms. Guardiola punching a black male (who also lives with Guardiola and at least one other person at the same residence).
It appears Guardiola was intoxicated and the fight arose out of an argument over food.
The felony was based on a repeat battery. Prosecutors dropped that and now it’s a misdemeanor battery case.
Court records show multiple priors including a felony aggravated battery from 2017.

24-year-old Gabriel Gomes was charged with DUI and Failure to Drive in Single Lane during 3 am traffic stop.
A deputy noticed his car fishtailing as it turned onto Lyons Road. Later after turning onto Palmetto, he began to speed and swerve between lane. The arresting officer described him as “Sad & cooperative.” At the police station Gomes registered 0.13 twice on the Intoxilyzer breath testing machine.
Gomes’ reported address is in the Avalia apartments in Boca Del Mar. We only see two traffic infractions in his past.
Wandervex Piccinini (54) was charged with Battery following a drunken argument with his wife of 31 years at their home in Watergate Estates. Police observed his wife sitting outside their home crying, a bloody scratch on her arm. She said that Piccinini slapped her in the car, and that he said that he was going to kill the both of them. Piccinini denied the physical altercation. He’s had one other misdemeanor a couple years back.
Diego Pedro Domingo of East Boca (and on staff at Max’s Grille) was arrested by Boca PD after he was accused of slapping a child and grabbing the child by the testicles. The Guatemala native needed a Spanish interpreter in court. The arrest paperwork is heavily redacted (to protect the victim) so we do not have more details. The paperwork does not indicate Domingo’s citizenship or immigration status.
31-year-old William Sanchez was charged with felony Reckless Driving Causing Serious Bodily Injury. According to his injured passenger, Sanchez sped his 2018 BMW M3 over 100 mph down I-95, cutting through traffic and eventually crashed into a median, and then into another barrier wall. Apparently the young woman recorded some of is driving on video.
There were 3 others in the car, one of whom was transported to a nearby hospital for a broken femur, spine, and wrist. The group had been at Honey, a popular nightclub in downtown Delray Beach. Sanchez has had a slew of traffic infractions, a misdemeanor, and now, a felony.
Sanchez’ reported address is in some new apartments called 850 Boca off Broken Sound Parkway near Congress.
Gerald Humphries (71) was charged with Domestic Battery against his fiancée, who is 24 years his junior. He assaulted her after becoming angry that home off Ocean Blvd near Palmetto was dirty. This is his first misdemeanor, but he’s had lots of traffic infractions, and a notable amount of evictions in the past.
59-year-old John Tyler, (born in the Philippines), was charged with Failure of Sexual Predator to Properly Register, after his 25-year prison sentence in Hawaii for a 1st-degree Rape. He currently resides in a mobile home in the Watergate Estates community on Sandalfoot Blvd. In Florida, he’s had various traffic infractions and a misdemeanor, as well.
43-year-old Angelia Bray was charged with Battery and Robbery against her daughter (age 28). Bray had asked her daughter to come to work with her, but while in the car, she snatched her daughter’s backpack, scratching and punching her in the process. According to Bray, her daughter is mentally ill and has drug addiction problems. Bray has had no previous run-ins with the law, neither has her daughter.
A defense-oriented reading of this case might see this as a parent dealing with a difficult child as best she can.
21-year-old Victoria Nascimento was charged with Robbery after she and two girlfriends attacked and robbed woman at the Brickyard Restaurant and Microbrewery. They were denied entry after being suspected of having fake IDs by the bouncers, and were told to move by another employee, as they were blocking the entrance for others.
Nascimento reacted by punching her in the face, then the three girls dragged her to the parking lot, attacked her further, then fled to their car, and then to the Seminole Casino in Coconut Creek (where they were detained by police). They had also stolen the victim’s backpack and phone. She’s only had one traffic infraction before this.
Rodd Marcus (55) was arrested at a Jersey Mikes in Palm Beach Gardens for two offenses. He faces charges for Domestic Battery on a senior, his mother, and simple battery for pushing a Starbucks employee.
He and his mom live on Ocean Blvd in East Boca. Prior to this, he’s had a slew of traffic infractions, another, misdemeanor, and a couple counts of cyber stalking.
Since we started writing this report Marcus was arrested again for felony grand theft and for violating the terms of his release. We will probably cover that in a future article.
Daniel Dubreuze (21) and Schleidenson Prophete (21) were charged with Retail Theft after stealing a $10 umbrella from the Target on Linton in Delray Beach. Both have only had traffic infractions in the past, though juvenile records are unavailable. Their reported addresses are in East Boca.
His reported address is in the Old Floresta Historic District in East Boca.
Joshua Dodd (29) was charged with DUI after causing a 4-way accident on Glades Rd near Town Center at Butts Road. Police noticed the smell of alcohol coming off of Dodd, and he admitted he was intoxicated. In addition, he failed a series of sobriety tests, and registered over 0.21 on the Intoxilyzer breath test machine. We see no past offenses.
39-year-old Daniel Michaels of East Boca was charged with Battery on a security guard and another count for battery on a firefighter. He was on a stretcher at the Boca Regional ER, being held down in light restraints, and had been given several sedatives.
Michaels got up, however, and attacked a security officer, causing her to have minor bruising. He also injured a fireman in the process. He had been transported to the hospital after alerting the Fire Department that he was going through alcohol withdrawals, but while he was waiting for a room, he became aggressive. He’s only had traffic infractions prior to this.

2022 In our latest crime report the parking lot of O’Connor’s Pub in Sandalfoot appears yet again – and twice this time
Several stories involve Watergate Estates and Sandalfoot Cove
We also have a DUI for a country club manager
a criminal with a lengthy criminal history was released on bail just in time for the holiday burglary season
Neighborhoods mentioned this week include Watergate Estates
We often say nothing good happens after 2 am
This is even more so in the parking lot of O’Connor’s Pub
In this case Christopher Jones (48) of Watergate Estates was arrested for cocaine possession in the parking lot at 4 am
It’s hard to tell when someone has such a common name
Cichielo (age 51) was arrested for DUI in Jupiter
The police officer’s description of the encounter was thorough
indicating that Cichielo appeared intoxicated in multiple ways
We don’t see much history for Cichielo though he’s had a lot of traffic tickets
It appears he is some kind of manager at Broken Sound
While the paperwork in this case lists his address as in the clubhouse
it appears he lives in the Hidden Lake community in East Boca
Alister Apartments) was arrested for drugs in the Sandalfoot Square plaza
The arresting deputy notes that the alleged cocaine tested positive on one test kit (Cobalt) but negative on another (Marquis)
It is our understanding that the Cobalt test looks for cocaine while Marquis looks for other drugs
Matos also had a drug case in 2016. We’re not sure if it’s the same person but there was a news report in 2014 about a missing teen named Amanda Matos who returned home
East Boca’s Valerie Salamon (54) crashed into a pickup on Dixie HIghway
Boca PD claims she refused a breath test but the notes indicate she was vomiting which would make a breath test unreliable
The vomit contains stomach alcohol which can taint a breath alcohol test result
The breath test affidavit then contradicts the vomit statement by saying she did not vomit
She was then taken to a hospital but it does not appear she was asked for consent to a blood draw
She might have a shot at beating the DUI charge but it’ll be tricky
In his latest arrest Jeremy Voisine (34) is reported with no address. Voisine is accused of burglarizing multiple units of the Life Storage facility on Marina Blvd (SW 18th) at 441. He was tracked via the shops where he pawned the stolen items comic books from one victim and musical instruments from another. The story did make the local TV news earlier
When PBSO went back to the facility to investigate Voisine was there allegedly stealing from another unit
loading more comic books into a stolen vehicle
During the arrest process deputies found cocaine and paraphernalia in the stolen vehicle so Voisine faces charges for that as well
Voisine appeared in an August crime for armed robbery, but apparently was released despite a substantial history including another appearance in a May crime report
Those incidents indicated addresses for him in Boca Rio and in the Arium apartments at Powerline and Palmetto
While Voisine is facing five open felony cases and one open criminal traffic case
with an extensive criminal history including prison time
he was released from jail on Wednesday just in time for the holiday burglary season
Lousiana-born Anthony Borothy (aka Anthony Barothy
age 24) was arrested while parking a stolen Uhaul truck at Home Depot
Deputies had followed him from the Sandalfoot Cumberland Farms
Barothy’s license was also suspended at the time of arrest so he faces charges for both vehicle theft and driving under suspension
Barothy apparently claimed he rented the vehicle with a friend – Trent Manshack – and that they failed to return it
Apparently that’s still theft in Florida
We see no other local criminal history for Barothy, but he was apparently arrested as a teen for breaking into a school
Watergate Estates) was arrested in the O’Connor’s Pub parking lot for driving with a suspended license as a 3rd or subsequent offense along with an expired tag
The details of his prior suspensions are blacked out in the report
He has had a few cases in Broward over the past few decades including a felony arrest in 1992 for burglary
More recently he had a couple traffic criminal cases there in 2013 and 2017
Worst of all he appears to be a Patriots fan (born in Massachusetts)
was arrested for burglary and grand theft auto
He was with three juveniles (Isaiah Chambers
Rashad Rowe and Fabian Perales-Lopez) and the four had allegedly been using a stolen black Lexus while burglarizing a home
Perhaps his Facebook profile picture from last year was a hint of what was to come:
though any juvenile past would normally not show up
Jeffrey Sandler (51) was arrested after allegedly stealing a bicycle and various items from the West Boca Target totaling nearly $1000 in value
We see a couple previous misdemeanor retail theft cases in his past and no reported address for him
A few years ago he had an address in Lake Worth
We should note this is not the same person as the Boca lawyer named Jeffrey Sandler
Sandalfoot Cove) was arrested and charged with felony driving under suspension
Pericles has had thirty cases in the Palm Beach courts including more than ten criminal traffic matters and multiple misdemeanors and felonies
Despite that lengthy history it appears this felony was reduced to a misdemeanor already as our county prosecutor again shows his soft approach to such drivers
33-year-old Becky Levinson of Sandalfoot Cove was arrested on felony scheme to defraud charges after being accused of stealing cash from the West Boca Walmart where she worked
Surveillance cameras showed her taking cash on a few occasions
The charge has already been reduced to a misdemeanor
though there is a retail theft case from 2005
Colby Skurnik (36, Boca West) has his second appearance in a couple months. The first was in a September report
More recently she was arrested twice in a few days
once for giving a fake ID to a police officer and once for possession of drug paraphernalia
One of her recent arrests shows the same Boca West address from September
but the other shows an address in the new Dakota development off 441 in West Delray
In one case she falsely identified herself to a Delray police officer who eventually got her ID and determined she had an active warrant
In the other case she was pulled over for speeding on a moped and a crack pipe fell out of her pocket while she was taking out her wallet
She appears to be related to the Broadway actor Joshua Skurnick
Mark Lester (56) of the Courtyards in Boca Del Mar was arrested for violating “several active protective orders”
burglary and more when he tried to break into his ex-girlfriend’s unit in Courtyards
He had notified the Jupiter Police that he was heading to do this
A PBSO deputy met him there but before she could stop him
he smashed the Ring doorbell with a hammer
and then tried to get into the courtyard of the unit
At this point the deputy “escorted him to the ground.” He was taken to West Boca Medical Center and court records indicate he was hospitalized for roughly two weeks
Lester also has a pending misdemeanor we covered in a recent crime report.
Paulo Da Silva Alves (37) was arrested for domestic battery at his home in River Oaks (SW 18th at Lyons). He allegedly kicked his wife in the chest during an argument. The deputy noted that his story was wildly inconsistent while the wife’s story was consistent and she had a mark on her chest that fit with the alleged kick.
We see no prior history for him in the courts.

2020 We’re trying our crime reports in more frequent shorter bursts
Instead of very long articles with 20 or more incidents
we’ll be doing more of them in shorter chunks of less than 10 each
In this report we have multiple incidents involving Watergate Estates
which some consider the center of crime in West Boca
But we start with a child care worker accused of abusing a small child
Estafany Acosta made the news for breaking a 3-year-old’s leg. She even made national news – Newsweek
The 24-year-old Venezuelan citizen was working at Early Learning Academy on Yamato behind the St
She is a resident of Kensington Walk in Boca Del Mar
The police affidavit is very detailed and our readers can read the whole document if they like
In short the 3-year-old was difficult to deal with and Acosta handled the situation very poorly
At one point while trying to get the child to sit down an behave
she allegedly sat on him or kneeled on him
and then lied about it saying he kicked a chair
She is charged with aggravated battery on a child
She was released without having to post a bond and is represented by the public defender
Thomas Rivera (42) of Watergate Estates was arrested for cocaine
He has a long history with 33 cases in our local courts
plus a new case in January – felony criminal traffic for driving without a license
A deputy noticed Rivera sleeping in his SUV in the parking lot of The Brickyard after 4 am
“Out of concern for the person’s health,” the deputy opened the driver’s door
This is a weak excuse for violating Rivera’s Fourth Amendment rights
Once the door was open the deputy noticed a plastic bag of cocaine in Rivera’s pocket
A search also revealed 9 bags of marijuana
Gross allegedly took a Flamingo Taxi from Miami home to Boca
She’s also charged with resisting law enforcement because she “refused to comply with commands.”
Ordinarily that vague description would not be enough to support a charge of resisting
18-year-old Raphaele DeSouza lives in the Banyan Lakes section of Boca Rio
She’s accused of stealing a credit card and fraudulent use of a credit card
Allegedly DeSouza stole the credit card from a coworker at Billabong and spent over $1400 on it in four stores in Town Center Mall
DeSouza appears to be a student at Spanish River High
Watergate Estates) was arrested on a warrant but we were unable to find any case in South Florida where there was a warrant for him
We found a pending criminal traffic case against him for driving a Chevy sedan without a license inside the Watergate Estates community
The ticket indicates a home address in Ocala
and driving while suspended in 2012 and 2016
It appears he still hasn’t paid the fine on that 2016 case
He has a long history of priors including an FDLE record
Maddox works as a bus boy at Troy’s BBQ
He allegedly attacked a woman in front of the Hair Cuttery on Federal Highway just north of Camino Real
The victim says she dated him a few months earlier
forced her to the ground and grabbed her wallet
She told police she did not want to press charges
His reported address is on Tradewinds in the trailer park
and the offense took place on Flotilla Place
Webber is a registered sexual predator with four felony cases filed against him in Broward County from 2001 to 2006. He spent over 10 years in state prison from 2007 to 2017.
Webber allegedly reached through a window of the residence and slapped the victim. This is the third violation of his felony probation from the 2006 Broward case. He is currently staying in the Broward Sheriff’s resort pending a trial on the violation of probation.
Reache Evans (44, East Boca) was arrested for cocaine. He has spent a few stints in state prison.
Boca PD observed Evans involved in what appeared to be a drug transaction at a gas station on Dixie Highway. They found crack cocaine and a crack pipe. Evans tried to run, causing an officer to fall.
Evans is charged with 3 counts including possession with intent to sell, resisting and escape, and is housed in the PBSO resort on Gun Club Road pending $75,000 bond.

Drugs and Domestic Violence ByRick Cohen November 18
2019 Our latest crime report includes a man charged with over 500 counts of illegal weapons possession after a shooting in the Watergate Estates trailer park
We also have a Woodfield Country Club couple getting each other in trouble
drugs in the O’Connor’s Pub parking lot (again)
Recent graduates of Boca High and Spanish River High also make their appearances
And there are at least a couple of DUI cases where the evidence suggests likely innocence
Diana Jaggernath (37) was charged with Simple Domestic Battery after police found her attempting to stab her boyfriend with a knife in their apartment at Alister Apartments (aka Boca Entrada)
They had gotten into an argument over family matters and after she scratched him it escalated from there
She claimed she was just trying to open the door with the knife
and he agreed that she wasn’t looking to harm them with it
This is her first offense in Palm Beach County.
It’s not clear why she wasn’t charged with felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon
30-year-old Jacklyn Smith of Sandalfoot Cove was charged with Violation of Condition of Pretrial Release
and 2 counts of Criminal Mischief following an interaction with her father against his No Contact Order
She had been banging on the front of his house with a club/stick trying to enter
Questions that arise from this relationship are answered with her slew of domestic violence and cyberstalking cases against her family
she has a couple felonies and 4 other misdemeanors.
East Boca’s 62-year old Mark Rudow was charged with DUI (drugs)
As the police were conducting their DUI investigation
he was unable to despite having drunk 3 bottles of water
The list includes two previous DUIs in 2001 and 2013
and he had an interlock device in his vehicle during this traffic stop
East Boca’s Joseph Ciccone (32) was stopped on Powerline near Boca Grove and charged with DUI/Property Damage after colliding with another car at around 10 at night
It appears PBSO initially suspected alcohol
but Ciccone registered a 0.000 on the breath test
note that Ciccone and Rudow both registered 0.000
We don’t know the result of that test yet
even though it’s over a month since the traffic stop
It’s not clear if they had an adequate basis for requesting the urine test based on what they reported
Country Park’s Eric Hise (22) was charged with Possession of Schedule IV Substance (more specifically Alprazolam) after telling a driver to hit him with their car on Glades Rd
proceeded to just jumping in front of cars on I-95
Police were called, and upon Hise’s arrest, police found Alprazolam on him. Hise has had one other felony, and one misdemeanor here in Palm Beach County and maybe some history in Miami-Dade as well while he was living at a previous residence in the trailer park
Oddly the police report indicates Hise is a student at Boca High
which is probably false as he’s 22 years old
Saddlebrook’s Claudia De Oliveira Martins (49) was charged with Child Abuse and Battery
She had hit her 16 year old son with a plastic cord when he had been disrespectful to her
He sustained a 6 inch wound to his shoulder
28-year-old Edwin Valle was charged with 509 counts of Felon in Possession of Firearm or Ammunition
Deputies found 507 rounds of .22lr ammunition and charged him with one count for each
along with another count for a 9-round .22lr revolver
We’re not sure where the last count comes from
the .22lr caliber is among the least powerful types of ammunition (though still capable of causing serious injury or death)
he was charged with Using a Firearm Under The Influence of an Alcoholic Beverage
This latest incident started with a gunshot in the Watergate Estates trailer park
Two men came out and said the guy they wanted was inside
One of the other men said that Valle had pointed a gun at the wall of the trailer and fired
The witness expressed concern that Valle might be suicidal
A warrant search of the residence led to a backpack with all the ammunition
East Boca’s Layanna Pereira-Jorge (28) was charged with a DUI when police found her in Lake Park
asleep at the wheel at around 7:00 AM in traffic
but police noticed a strong odor and slurred speech
The police report indicates no results from breath testing but does not indicate whether she refused or if there was some other reason
Boca High and Palm Beach State alum Justin Aman (22) was charged with Trafficking in Cocaine
and Unlawfully Possessing a Property for Trafficking after police entered the home with a search warrant
Although he tried to flush some of it down his toilet
Aman currently resides in Boca Palms Condominiums in Boca Del Mar
and this was his first ever criminal incident in Palm Beach.
Woodfield Country Club’s 46-year-old Danielle Bachor was charged with Domestic Battery after an argument over finances with her fiance which took place in the evening
it was found that Bachor was the primary aggressor.
Brodsky (48) is a real estate broker (Integrity Realty Group) and amateur chef
Brodsky’s history includes a few minor cases including a previous battery against a Woodfield neighbor and some traffic tickets
He and his now ex-wife were also sued by Congregation B’nai Israel in 2012 for not paying camp and school fees of over $20,000
James Lynam (33) was charged with Reckless Driving Causing Serious Bodily Harm and Reckless Driving Causing Injury to Property or Person
Lynam was speeding at around 8:00 AM and struck another car when both decided to merge into the same spot at the same time
A witness claimed to have seen a “huge explosion,” and this was verified by security cameras
Lynam’s passenger sustained a traumatic brain injury
and lost 10 teeth. Lynam himself suffered a crushed windpipe injury
He’s faced other felony charges in the distant past
and has had a criminal traffic charge in the past as well
It should be noted that Florida appeals courts have been tough on prosecutors in reckless driving cases in the past. A good example is the Stracar case. Lynam has a good chance of winning this case if he fights it.
23-year-old Aviel Dahan of the Palacios subdivision of Boca Del Mar was charged with DUI and Driving while License Suspended after police spotted Dahan leaving Brickyard Bar & Grill after 3 am.
The deputy contends Dahan was driving in a reckless manner, leading to the stop.
Dahan admitted that his license was suspended, and police also notice his speech was slurred and described his eyes as glassy. Other than some traffic infractions, this is his first criminal charge that we see for the Boca-born Spanish River graduate
On a breath test Dahan registered 0.147 twice in a row. That’s not a good sign for his case, though he’ll probably get into a diversion program.
Kelly has an extensive criminal history, including a felony, 5 misdemeanors, and one case of criminal traffic. She has been in our crime reports at least a few times.
20-year-old Allessendro Nigri has an FAU address. He was charged with Sale or Offer for Sale Counterfeit Goods.
He was selling counterfeit Rolex watches on an app called LetGo, and authorities were tipped off by Rolex itself. Police set up a fake deal to go down in the parking lot of Office Depot at the turnpike. 5 watches were to be sold for $300 each.
After the sale, he was detained, and the watches were confirmed to be counterfeits from China. This is the first charge we see for Nigri.
Another return visitor to our crime reports, 43-year-old Stacy Brooks of East Boca is back, charged this time for DUI, Failure of Driver to Report Crash, Improper Backing (Up), Operating while License Suspended/Cancelled/Revoked, Possession of Open Container (of Alcohol), and Leaving Scene Without Giving Information.
Brooks got into a car crash, fled, and when confronted by police she cursed them out. She’s had 2 felonies and 2 misdemeanors in the past as well as a shocking amount of Traffic Infractions. Her previous case in our reports involved a fight with her elderly mother.
She registered over 0.27 on breath testing, or more than triple the legal limit. She claimed she was on her way to rehab.
36-year old Danielle O’Brien was charged with Possession of Alprazolam and Possession of a Schedule III Substance. Deputies patrolling the O’Connor’s Pub parking lot in Sandalfoot spotted her and a man in a car weighing drug baggies, which turned out to be cocaine. While being asked for her ID, police also spotted pills in her bag, which were Alprazolam pills.
O’Brien has also had a couple misdemeanor cases, another felony, and various traffic infractions in the past. Her reported residence is in Reflections of Boca Del Mar.
PreviousMen’s Night Out: Crime WeekNextContinue Great Week for Restaurants© 2025 West Boca News
Gianni Mesa (25) of Boca Gardens was arrested and charged with sexual assault on a minor as well as contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The investigation began in May and relates back to an incident in late 2018.
The girl went to a girlfriend’s house, and the two snuck out and met up with “John Cavalho” (we think Carvalho, age 21, but not sure). Carvalho took the girls to Mesa’s house where they all smoked weed and drank Amsterdam Vodka in Mesa’s bedroom. Carvalho went to another room to “do stuff” while the victim stayed in Mesa’s bedroom and they ended up “having sex I guess” according to her.
Deputies then arranged a recorded phone call between the victim and Mesa, and Mesa appeared to admit having sex with her – when asked if he used a condom he said he did. Upon arrest Mesa lawyered up.
The girl was a month short of her 16th birthday at the time of the incident.
Matthew Braun (37) of Boca Rio was arrested for violating a domestic violence injunction as a misdemeanor. This is an odd one. We don’t have the details of the injunction but apparently he’s not supposed to communicate with her. He walked his dog near her home and told her “there is something in the tree for you.” She found a love note, some honey, an origami rose and beauty cream in a nearby tree.
Braun was previously charged with a domestic violence felony in 2013. He also has a pending 2018 case for securities fraud, where he was part of a trio who allegedly defrauded investors of hundreds of thousands of dollars.
This is another “maybe she’s not the one” story. Natasha Shiffrin (45) was charged with aggravated battery after stabbing one of her boyfriends. She also stabbed herself twice during the incident and it there is a separate mental health proceeding filed involving her.
Now you might ask what caused all of this. It should be obvious. She was upset because her other boyfriend is married.
Shiffrin had a prior domestic violence case in 2008 where she appears to have been the alleged victim of her then husband.
Melitsa Vlitjig (19) of the Wellesley Park section of Boca Del Mar was arrested for felony domestic assault and misdemeanor battery. She threw a glass cup at her boyfriend, missing him so it’s only aggravated assault rather than aggravated battery, and she also punched him in the face getting her a misdemeanor battery.
She was angry he got a message from a girl on his computer. We see no prior history for her.
Matheus Ferreira (25) of East Boca packs a punch. He stands accused of felony battery causing a traumatic brain injury after an incident that took place in a parking lot near Palmetto Park Road and Federal Highway.
Allegedly Ferreira and others were harassing a parking lot attendant. The victim, a friend of the attendant, tried to intervene and Ferreira punched him in the jaw, knocking him out for over 2 minutes. Ferreira then fled the scene.
The victim was diagnosed a couple days later with a fractured skull, blood clots and a brain bleed.
Detective Kurdys of Boca PD then did a thorough investigation using witnesses, video and social media to track down Ferreira.
Ferreira has had a couple of marijuana cases and a lot of traffic tickets over the past 10 or more years.
We don’t know the “why” of this but the “how” is odd. David Gunning (39) of Tudor Woods was arrested on a Broward warrant for felony burglary and criminal mischief.
Gunning went into the victim’s home in Pompano Beach, and threw black enamel paint on him and the interior of his home. This requires $20,000 in repairs and substantial medical and dental treatment.
We don’t see any significant criminal history for Gunning, and can’t figure out what motivated this attack. Were they gay lovers? Did Gunning’s wife/girlfriend cheat on him with the victim? Was it work related? Gunning appears to work for a painting company. We may never know the full story.
It’s also odd that he was not charged with felony battery causing serious injury.
Miguel Calero (56) of the Watergate Estates trailer park was arrested for felony retail grand theft. Video of an incident captured a man at Lowe’s putting two DeWalt battery packs in his pants and walking out. The arresting deputy reviewed a “BOLO” (be on the lookout) e-mail for the suspect and immediately recognized him as Calero, who he knows from the trailer park.
Calero admitted to the crime, saying he has an addiction to heroin. We don’t see much history in Palm Beach County, but he has a fairly extensive record of minor traffic crimes and at least one petit theft in Broward.
42-year-old Patrizia Dilluvio of East Boca was arrested by Delray PD for stealing paint cans, glue, and lights from the Delray Home Depot. We see no prior history for her.
61-year-old Vanessa Faith Reid does not have faith in one of her neighbors. The Boca Cove resident allegedly smashed the windows of her neighbor’s minivan with a shovel, witnessed by two others and apparently caught on someone’s security camera as well.
Reid told the deputy that “the bitch that owns that minivan” had stolen her silverware.
We don’t see any criminal history but it appears Reid’s husband filed for divorce in 2015, and her condo is in the process of foreclosure.
Boca High’s Christian Oss (18) was arrested for criminal mischief. He was throwing rocks at two cars in a driveway, breaking their windows. The underlying story is that Oss thought the cars belonged to another young man who owed him money, though they actually belong to the young man’s father.
The incident took place at 2:30 am and was caught on the home’s security cameras. The son recognized Oss from the footage, as well as the car Oss was driving.
Brendan Borgos (22) of Watergate Estates was arrested for DUI. He was speeding and driving erratically. His BAC was 0.16, double the legal limit.
So Phillip Schoff is the mastermind of a cocaine distribution ring based in the trailer park. Right.
PBSO investigators got a tip that Schoff was selling powder cocaine and they arranged a buy. But Schoff was unavailable so he sent Kevin Del Rosario to handle the transaction, which took place in the Sandalfoot Publix parking lot.
A search of the roommates’ home led to cocaine in Schoff’s bedroom, which he admitted was his.
Schoff has had a couple of minor cases in the past. We see no priors for Del Rosario.
The two were deeply traumatized by their arrests as can be seen by Schoff’s Facebook post a few days later:
Okay, that was sarcasm on our part, and a funny meme by Schoff.
The name of the week goes to Hyrouance Blaise (22) of Sandalfoot Cove. It was a different incident but a very similar bullshit traffic stop and bogus search.
Blaise, the driver, was charged with possession of marijuana even though it was found on the passenger’s side and she admitted it was hers. He was also charged with possession of Buprenophine pills, which is a medicine used to treat opioid addiction.

2019 Our mid-April crime report features a bevy of beauties accused of being naughty or otherwise not nice
but we’re starting with some bad boys
We just covered Adam Bennett’s arrest in early April for walking out of a liquor store with a bottle of vodka
He’s back and this time it’s big time
He faces 13 counts of burglary along with a few other charges
According to Delray PD Bennett was walking around with a shopping bag at night opening car doors and stealing “large amounts of change” out of them to support a heroin and crack cocaine habit
Jose Velasco (45) of the Country Park community near SW 18th and Boca Rio was arrested for violating a domestic violence injunction after he sent her a threatening text message
Michael Rubel (32) was arrested by Boca PD after he led them on a chase near Mizner Park
blew a stop sign and cut off a police car at a high rate of speed
but gave up when another officer confronted him
Rubel is currently on probation from a serious DUI accident that happened back in 2015
He has a suspended license so he’s got that charge
and a violation of his DUI probation facing him
Jacob Stroup is another repeat appearance. We covered his late March arrest for heroin possession before
This time he was arrested for trespassing at a McDonald’s on Federal Highway
The first of lady of this report is Barbara Shortt (43) from East Boca near the Kmart
This arrest was for stealing $25 worth of cutting boards from Macy’s in Town Center
Shortt has quite a few cases in the court system including three felony cases
She also has an open warrant for possession of prescription drugs
47 year old Stephen Chiapperini of the Sandalfoot Villas was arrested after walking out of the Delray Home Depot with two drills
Since they’re valued together at over $300
Chiapperini works at Meineke in Sandalfoot
We don’t see any other criminal history for him
Pereira (41) of Meadow Lakes Estates was picked up on an active warrant from Broward County where she faces what looks like a shoplifting case from the Deerfield Target
Oddly the underlying documents from the case are not in the online court system in Broward
She has had quite a few cases in the Palm Beach courts including a couple of Baker Act involuntary mental health proceedings
The problems seem to have started in 2017 but we’re not sure about that
She was stopped at 2:30 am after driving the wrong way on a one-way road
Barbara Gagliardi (64) of Camino Real Village in Boca Del Mar was arrested for DUI on Congress in Delray
Neumann she was stopped for driving the wrong way
along with driving over a median to get to the correct side of the road
She did invoke her right to an attorney and according to the arresting officer all questions “seized”
Less than two months ago we reported on Sharon Caruana’s arrest for abusing the 911 phone system. She’s back. In her latest arrest for 911 abuse, she called 11 times since February, “to let deputies know her dogs were staying with her son.” Just a hunch but we don’t think this problem is going away soon
Ballroom dancer Helena Del Grosso (24) and her housemate Austin Harris (also 24) were arrested after PBSO raided their home on a warrant and found a lot of pot.
The report indicates they found over 5 kilograms or nearly 12 pounds of marijuana, along with THC cartridges, edibles, and a 9mm Beretta handgun.
Because the home is about 300 feet from St. Gregory’s Episcopal Church (near Mizner Park), they face charges of possession with intent to sell near a church, along with trafficking in synthetic cannabinoids.
We see no significant history for Del Grosso. Harris has multiple prior felony arrests. Pro tip for the ladies: If he has just one felony arrest it’s not great. If he has multiple felonies, maybe he’s not the one.
Jesus Palomino Marin (34), a pet stylist in Mizner Park, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. This was another late night incident that began with a traffic stop just after midnight for speeding. After detecting the odor of marijuana the officer searched the car and found a tube with CBD oil and a bag of white rocks that tested positive for amphetamines.
He’s having a bad month as he was also just ticketed in a criminal traffic case in Broward. Other than that we see no history.
Michael Levine (48) of the Gables Marbella apartments off Boca Del Mar Drive was arrested on drug charges. Acting on a tip from a “reliable source” (cough cough) PBSO obtained a search warrant and raided Levine’s home.
The search revealed 14 bags of white powder which tested positive for cocaine with a total weight of over 25 grams. They also found over $6000 in cash, including a $100 bill with a serial number matching one used in a controlled buy by undercover agents.
Levine was arrested on felony drug charges in 2017 receiving an 18-month probation sentence which was just ended early in March.
20-year-old Adolfo Vela lives, or lived, on Camino Real near Dixie Highway in East Boca. He’s accused of slapping and choking his live-in girlfriend, after an argument where she accused him of cheating on her based on a text she saw on his phone. The choking makes it a felony.
Vela has three prior felony cases in Broward including armed robbery with a firearm, grand theft of a firearm, etc. Maybe he’s not the one?
Adrian Barceli (19) of Sandalfoot Cove was arrested for domestic battery after he sucker punched his stepfather. We see no priors.
50-year-old Robert Divet of the Oaks of Boca complex near Boca Regional Hospital was arrested for domestic battery. He invited his ex-wife over for Easter dinner, for the children. Then he got drunk, punched her and threw a knife at her.

2022 A Mission Bay teen spending over $65K/year on marijuana
Violence from the son of a former pro athlete
Pistol whipping by an off-duty security guard
Athletes from Boca High and West Boca High
One of the highest BACs we’ve ever seen on a breath test
Twice as much to report this week with a lot of drunk driving
Michael Grone was arrested on a warrant from another state
We can’t know for sure what this is about
but it may be from this case in New Jersey:
His reported address is in the Gables Boca Place apartments in Boca Del Mar
Ali Charif Mohamad Youss (43) was arrested for DUI
The police report indicates he’s a lawyer from Brazil
and he currently resides in the Tempo Townhouses on Sandalfoot Blvd on the edge of Watergate Estates
The incident occurred on 441 just south of Glades Road
Deputies found him sleeping at the wheel stopped at the traffic light at 4 am
possibly Turn 3 or O’Connor’s Pub
and admitted to having two Jack Daniels and six beers
Villa San Remo) was arrested for marijuana and drug paraphernalia in Delray Beach
We see multiple prior cases for Hlengwa for drugs and DUI
22-year-old Clint Lobig of East Boca returns to our crime report after allegedly stealing bicycles from two different victims
The first victim captured the theft on his security camera and the Boca PD officer immediately recognized Lobig from the video
Lobig was in our crime report in August for domestic battery on his mother
In the current incident his mother went with him to the pawn shop where he sold the bikes
Lobig has multiple priors mainly for domestic violence
Russia-born Sasha Nelson (28) of East Boca was arrested by Boynton PD for possession of cocaine
They also found marijuana in the car but does not appear they charged him for that
The cocaine found was only 0.1 grams so it’s possible that would be hard to test adequately in a lab to support a criminal charge
Sandy Hawkins (74) was arrested for robbing the Wells Fargo bank in Sandalfoot Square in an incident that received a lot of press, such as on Local 10
Court documents indicate he was moved to housing in a Delray sober home that:
provides housing and a structured environment for individuals recovering from Substance Use Disorders
It appears he was arrested again on Friday (yesterday) but it’s not clear from the record yet if he did something new or if that was just part of the process of him being placed in the sober home
Palmetto Pines) was arrested at Home Depot after being accused of stealing over $1000 of items while working at the cash register
Store management observed her scanning merchandise
and then placing the merchandise in the customer’s cart
We see no priors for Brazil-born DeFreitas
21-year-old Corin Adderly was arrested on an out-of-county warrant
We’re not sure what this arrest was for but there is an arrest warrant in Broward for him for a violation of probation on a 2018 DUI case
Adderly’s reported address is in the Arbor Oaks apartments just north of West Boca Medical Center
He appears to be from the Bahamas but we’re not certain of that
Haiti-born Beaudelair Marcellin of East Boca was arrested for battery and for aggravated assault with a firearm
Marcellin allegedly was jealous that the victim was with a woman he considered his girlfriend
He reportedly works for Cambridge Security
We don’t see any prior criminal cases but we do see multiple traffic cases
Chicago-born Richard Wolflick (34) was arrested for DUI
He lives in East Boca and the traffic stop was also in East Boca
Oddly there’s no indication in the records of any breath or blood test being done or requested
Thomas Foehr (62) of Sandalfoot Cove was arrested in Boynton Beach for DUI on a motor scooter
During the arrest Boynton officers discovered Foehr’s license had been revoked and he has 5 prior DUI convictions
Boca Landings) was arrested on an out-of-county warrant
We are not sure which county had the warrant or what it was for
We see three prior felonies in Broward and a FDLE record:
Gilman previously appeared in our crime reports in December (stealing from Home Depot) and February (heroin)
Boca Rio) was arrested by Boynton officers after the stopped him for speeding (50 in a 40) and found 43 grams of marijuana in 3 bags in the car
They also found a .32 caliber handgun locked in a case in the glovebox
He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia
Additional charges may be filed pending the results of chemical testing
The stop and search both seem a bit dubious
potentially a “driving while black” stop and also a questionable use of a dog sniff
Wesley Bond (24) was arrested in his family’s home in St
Andrews Country Club for domestic battery after hitting his sister twice in the face with a closed fist
Bond is the son of Walter and Antoinette Bond
Walter is a retired NBA player and motivational speaker active in the Boca Chamber of Commerce
Jeremy Ehrenthal (44) of Estancia West is back in our crime reports again
Ehrenthal was arrested this time for DUI by Delray PD
The traffic stop looks dubious and may be difficult for prosecutors to sustain if challenged
An unnamed witness said that Ehrenthal was driving in a reckless manner
There are two problems with that – first of all getting the witness to show up to court and second of all whether the vague report of driving recklessly is enough to support a stop
Ehrenthal was asked to take a breath test and he registered 0.000 – no alcohol at all
The problem here for the prosecution is they thought he was drunk so they did a breath test
Once they were proven wrong they decided to try something else to justify what looks like a bad stop and a bad arrest
Or at least that’s how an aggressive defense lawyer might present it
The police report says that Ehrenthal admitted to taking a Valium earlier in the day and later admitted to taking Remeron
Ehrenthal was in our July report for DUI, and in our June report for domestic battery and criminal mischief
It appears he is currently on probation for the July DUI
That could create bigger problems for him than innocence or guilt on the new arrest
resident Nella Eastep (born in Plantation) was arrested for cocaine possession after a traffic stop where she was a passenger
The arresting deputy observed a crack pipe under the leg of another passenger
Brittany was released at the scene and issued a ticket
During the incident the deputy asked Eastep to step out of the car and then searched her pockets
This is a potential 4th Amendment issue for her defense lawyer as it does not appear to have been on consent and it’s not clear he had a sufficient basis for that search
He’s a resident of the Sonata subdivision of Mission Bay
The police report indicates he goes to Boca High and we see other indications of that
but we also see some suggestion that maybe now he goes to West Boca High
West Boca wins the 3rd Qtr our scoring Lake Worth 12 to 8. Sr. (G) Adam Elotmani and Sr. (G) Zachary Desir scored the bulls only points of the 3rd Qtr. They both had 6.West Boca 🐂 3️⃣8️⃣Lake Worth 🛡 3️⃣7️⃣ pic.twitter.com/ZihzgGCbBt
Elotmani was arrested in East Delray after being pulled over near midnight with no taillights
Police found a jar of marijuana (132 grams or 4.6 ounces) in the car along with paraphernalia and charged him for both
Elotmani said he bought the marijuana in East Boca for $1300 and that he smokes that much in a week – so for all you math geeks out there that works out to over $65,000 a year on marijuana
Carlos Perez Canales (39) of Boca Dunes was arrested for domestic battery after an argument with his wife where she accused him of grabbing her phone
18-year-old James Baumann of East Boca was arrested for burglary
Baumann was on his father’s boat on Lake Boca Raton with a dozen or so other teens
One teen was left behind in the water and the victim in a dinghy rescued that teen
Baumann drove up alongside, boarded the dinghy and punched the the victim multiple times in the head. We see no priors for Baumann. Oddly the police report indicates he works at a Duffy’s near Fort Myers. It looks like he may have played baseball for Boca High
His father is president of MDS Builders, a general contractor that builds commercial facilities.
Tyler Furnas, a 27-year-old resident of Southwind Lakes, was arrested for DUI not far from his home. Deputies heard numerous cars honking their horns and found Furnas sleeping at the wheel of his car in the middle of the intersection of Yamato and Lyons before 7 pm.
Furnas admitted to drinking two beers. He registered 0.29 on breath testing twice. That is one of the highest numbers I’ve seen in my career as a drunk driving defense lawyer. But I did once win a case where my client blew a 0.32 (we won because he wasn’t driving).
Furnas is a Boca native and West Boca High alumnus. He had a prior DUI case in 2017.
Romania-born Loredana Sterescu (46, San Marco Apartments on Military Trail) was arrested for grand theft at Macy’s in Town Center Mall. Store management accused her and her elderly mother (82) of shoplifting over $2000 worth of items.
It appears that the mother was not charged, and we see no priors for Ms. Sterescu.

Leading off this week is FAU Football’s freshman defensive end Travon Thomas
In October Thomas was arrested and charged with domestic battery after allegedly head-butting his girlfriend
In mid-November he was arrested again for making multiple threats against the same woman
mostly via telephone and Instagram messages
Thomas was named a Student-Athlete of the week in September
Congrats to our newest Student-Athletes of the Week ⬇️Chris Robison and Travon Thomas. 💪👏#FootballinParadise pic.twitter.com/7Pa3igaZZl
At this writing FAU has not responded to our request for a comment
The student was immediately and indefinitely suspended from all team activities as soon as we became aware of the situation in October
Vanessa Moreno (29) was arrested for heroin and contempt
She is a resident of the Indian Head subdivision of Loggers’ Run
Police were called to the Daniel Sagiv Law Group by Mr
She returned the items and Sagiv declined to press charges
During the encounter police found an active warrant for Moreno for mental health contempt and arrested her on that warrant
During the arrest an officer found 3 capsules inside Moreno’s bag which Moreno admitted was heroin
We see no prior criminal history for Moreno and we do not see the mental health case either
44-year-old Arend Ferwarda was arrested for DUI
A resident of the Ashley Park subdivision of Boca Winds
This is yet another arrest in the Sandalfoot parking lot of O’Connor’s Pub
Ferwerda’s vehicle was stopped after backing out of a parking spot with no “tag light” (light over the license plate)
He was charged with both DUI and refusing a breath test
It seems like Ferwerda was arguing he was tired from overwork
From his LinkedIn profile he appears to work in HVAC.
From the Greenbriar 55+ subdivision of Boca Chase, 34-year-old Diego Osuna was arrested in Lantana for DUI. The arrest report starts off with what looks like a dubious traffic stop (11 mph over the limit and some trivial violations). Osuna registered roughly 0.13 on a breath test.
Osuna has a prior drug felony case from 2018.
Keegan Gallagher (30, Watergate Estates) was arrested for domestic battery. His mother called PBSO after witnessing him push his girlfriend to the floor. The girlfriend admitted to the deputy that it got “physical” but she would not be more specific and said Gallagher was drunk.
Gallagher has prior charges for criminal mischief and domestic violence.
East Boca’s Donnie Brawley (48) was arrested for dating violence along with assault and battery charges on law enforcement officers.
A neighbor in their building called Boca PD after hearing yelling and screaming from Brawley’s unit, including seeing him choking a woman on the balcony.
When police entered the unit Brawley – behind a closed interior door – threatened to shoot them. He then came out pointing his hands at the police as if they were guns. Since he did not have guns the Officer Payne tried to deescalate the situation. Brawley than attempted to close the front door of the unit on the police officers and a struggle ensued.
Brawley grabbed a female officer’s arm causing a minor injury. The two officers were able to keep Brawley on the ground until two more officers arrived and Brawley was handcuffed.
The victim said that Brawley put his hand on her throat but did not cut off her breathing. He also head-butted her leaving a visible mark. The two have been dating several months and she just moved into the apartment with him.
We don’t see any priors for Brawley.
East Boca’s Kevin Silvers (62) was arrested after a traffic incident at Palmetto and NW 2nd Ave. Silvers’ Astrovan collided with a BMW. The BMW then followed Silvers until he stopped.
Silvers stopped, exited his vehicle and approached the BMW while brandishing an ice pick. He hit the driver’s window with the ice pick and then hit the BMW again as it was driving away.
Silvers was charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, criminal mischief (for damaging the BMW), and leaving the scene of an accident.
Nicole “Nikki” Berg (26, Boca Rio) was arrested on a Broward warrant for some relatively minor criminal traffic charges. We don’t see any priors for her. She might be from the Bronx.
36-year-old Brandon Brawner, listed with no home address and born in Kentucky, was charged with grand theft of a vehicle. He allegedly stole a Nissan pickup from in front of a home in East Boca near Camino Real. The truck had been left unlocked with keys in the ignition.
We see a prior domestic violence charge that was dropped.
27-year-old Daniel Pinedo Velapatino of Boca Landings was arrested for battery. He allegedly hit his girlfriend outside Houston’s restaurant where she had gone for a job interview. He punched her four times on the arm and shoulder after she called him an addict. Later in the dispute he elbowed her in the mouth.
Maybe it’s just us, but if you think your boyfriend is a narcotics addict, has an FDLE record from 2014, and hits you, maybe he’s not the one.
Forrest Read (28 – Avalia in Boca Del Mar) was arrested for larceny after a Home Depot employee saw him hiding high value light bulbs ($790 in value) inside boxes of other merchandise which he then took up to the checkout.
We see no priors for Read, who was born in Daytona Beach.
34-year-old Michael Silver of East Boca was arrested for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon after allegedly stabbing his roommate, a 58 year old man. This took place on Federal Highway in East Boca. The victim described the knife as a “Rambo knife.”
31-year-old Katelynn Trieper lives in the Amberwoods subdivision of Boca Del Mar. She was arrested for DUI by Boca PD after an accident on Federal Highway. Trieper allegedly made an illegal left turn from Federal Highway to go west on Palmetto and collided with a pickup in the intersection.
Trieper refused all tests and was charged with DUI as well as with refusing a breath test for the second time. We see a prior DUI on her record as well as an arrest for driving while suspended and multiple traffic offenses.
