A former employee of a Missouri state prison admitted to smuggling drugs and knives into prison after previously pleading not guilty to the felony charges
Louis on April 23 to one count of conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute controlled substances and one count of attempting to possess with the intent to distribute controlled substances
The defendant was an electronics technician at the Eastern Reception Diagnostic and Correctional Center in Bonne Terre at the time of his crimes
inmates told officials that Reminger was smuggling drugs into the prison
told Missouri Department of Corrections investigators that Reminger had drugs mailed to a Post Office box in Farmington under a fictitious name
The witness also stated that the defendant was conspiring with other inmates to bring controlled substances into the prison at the negotiated price of $1,000 per pound
Postal Service (USPS) to distribute controlled substances
A USPS inspector was called in to investigate and learned that the defendant had obtained the post office box on Nov
and received about 12 packages between Nov
When Reminger picked up the final parcel on May 25
Postal Inspectors took him to a police station and interviewed him
discovering $4,000 in cash as well as fentanyl
and cell phones that were contained in four vacuum-sealed packages
Reminger said the $4,000 was his pay for bringing the packages into the prison
He said it was “possible” the packages he brought in contained something that contributed to the inmate overdoses
he said “ignorance is bliss” and added that he never opened the packages within the parcels or asked what was inside of them
Reminger admitted being “deliberately ignorant” of the contents of the packages
Reminger admitted that he received six or seven similar packages over the previous year and that when he received the parcel
he delivered the contents to an inmate in the ERDCC housing units under the guise of completing work orders
He said he made no more than $50,000 from the smuggling scheme
He turned over $15,000 in cash to investigators at home
He used some of the rest of the money to buy a dune buggy and two trailers
Reminger was indicted in September 2024 and was initially charged with three felony counts to which he pleaded not guilty: conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute controlled substances
attempt to possess with the intent to distribute controlled substances
and making a false statement [the use of the fictitious name name to rent the PO box]
In exchange for the defendant’s voluntary guilty plea to the charges of conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute controlled substances
and the attempt to possess with the intent to distribute controlled substances
It was also agreed that no further federal prosecution would be made relative to the defendant’s possession of controlled substances and intent to distribute them
Reminger is scheduled to be formally sentenced on July 24
Each charge carries a penalty of up to 20 years in prison

The bills are being mailed on the 28th of the month
but in some instances are not received until the 19th of the following month

At the Bonne Terre Board of Alderpersons meeting
Peters Church to a non-profit organization
The purpose of the purchase is to use the church as an exhibit place for their society to use
Plans call for renovation of the structure to better suit it for historical and other exhibits
With new plans on the horizon for the church
it seems an obvious time to revisit its past
Peter’s Episcopal Church congregation dates to 1879
the manager of the Bonne Terre Farming and Cattle Company Store moved to town and found no Episcopal church or meeting place
the Conover family would host the Episcopal bishop
By 1908 a formal church was organized which met in the old Harness Shop for the rental fee of $4 from St
The ladies of the church then began a fundraising drive by selling quilt tops and organized social events until they had raised $400
gave the church a lot and building on Main Street valued at $1,500 and a check for $100
