(Most of those charges were dropped within months.) Prosecutors recently dropped the final two pending cases against Hanover residents Julianne Borger and Christian Harris on the condition that they stay off campus and agree to maintain good behavior Both Borger and Harris grew up in the Upper Valley said they initially showed up last May 1 for a May Day rally but stuck around to support student demonstrations when they realized a protest for Palestine was happening after students decided to erect tents on the campus lawn Borger said they were concerned to see the Dartmouth Green — an area they have long known as a community gathering space — filling up with officers bearing shields We weren't doing anything hateful,” Borger said “I think that that's sort of like a big takeaway for me grew up in Hanover and has deep ties to Dartmouth; his father worked there He felt relief that the charges were dropped but the intensity of events last May is still shocking to him “There's still just a ton of frustration around that night given the kind of current state of affairs with this current administration but I think it was also more indicative of things to come and I think that's really been kind of the tragedy of it all.” Borger and Harris both say they currently feel secure in their ability to protest without serious consequences they have been concerned about the future of protesting in America especially for students and the international community on college campuses They both plan to continue to support Dartmouth students who are speaking out on campus Outside of their own grievances and legal battles Harris said he feels that the college created a kind of manufactured consent to discourage more protests “I think [Dartmouth] paved the way for what we're currently seeing with this current administration rounding up people and forgoing due process forgoing the laws that are there to protect the rights that we do have,” Harris said “I think the actions of Dartmouth really laid the groundwork for people to allow this to occur and you know we're seeing push back now It's just unfortunate that it might be too little too late for a lot of folks.” These articles are being shared by partners in the Granite State News Collaborative. Elementary School has surpassed $80,600, according to the campaign’s GoFundMe page More than 1,400 donations had been made as of Wednesday afternoon Other collections were taken at area games and an Serenity’s memory Her funeral service was held Wednesday afternoon at First Baptist Church in Borger Those wishing to donate can visit the GoFundMe campaign titled “Support for the Campos Family.” The Borger Police Department asks the public to keep Serenity’s family in their thoughts and prayers as they navigate this difficult time “They have continued to fine-tune the project and it has grown just a little bit as the numbers and feasibilities start to come in,” said Garrett Spradling “Where does this project currently stand?” “So currently we have been in the design phase and so now we're moving from the design phase into pre-construction,” said Amy Fesser It’s at the corner of Prospect Drive and Fairlanes Blvd where Borger Enterprise Park has more than 100 acres for this project “I think it’s important to realize that 828’s master planning the sight there is a difference between what they will develop out and partner with other developers and retail likely will be built by other third-party investors or by local investors,” said Spradling “What is the city (Borger) doing to make sure everything is on the up and up because a lot of people still can’t fathom something like this is coming to Borger?” “This is not going to be a government-owned facility were not taking on any debt to operate the facility were not doing any income guarantees this is truly a private development,” said Spradling "I was told that you asked the council for some additional funding and what’s that for?” we just asked for another $100,000 payment which is refundable as we move through different phases of this project,” said Fesser “Economic development is about risk aversion and the government taking on a little bit of that risk to help bring in something that wouldn’t come in on its goal but we also have the main goal of protecting our taxpayers,” said Spradling Our goal is to limit the risk and then maximize the potential benefit to our community.” As for a timeline for this $400 million investment the project is expected to be completed and open for the public to enjoy sometime in the year 2030 Smith Bird Sanctuary has been at Huber Park in Borger providing a safe environment for birds Texas (KVII) — For more than 30 years the Frank J The city recently announced they had no choice but to close the bird sanctuary due to a lack of volunteers or anyone willing to keep up the facility so now the city is seeking input from citizens to try and figure out what would be best to put in its place going forward “There may be some ideas that aren’t listed in the survey so we're accepting any type of ideas and feedback just in general but what the survey will do is kind of differentiate what citizens would like to see there,” said Deidra Thomas community engagement coordinator for the City of Borger City leaders tell ABC 7 News this is a quality-of-life issue and they can secure the funding that’s why they need input from citizens to decide what to build and have in the park “There are grants and we have city funding so all of this will be into our Community Investment Program Plan so this is not going to increase taxes,” said Garrett Spradling “We don’t plan to increase debt for this this is trying to find something we can do within our current means like we’ve done with all of our current projects to support our current tax rate without impacting that.” “We want their feedback and that will help determine the next steps in terms of our budgeting process and finding funding via grants and whatever else it may be to actually have this space come to light,” said Thomas to go online and complete a survey providing input as to what they think would be the best thing to have in place of a bird sanctuary Spradling said feedback is important so it can help the city come up with a plan and offer something people agree on The remaining birds that were still living in the Frank J Smith Sanctuary were transported to a sanctuary in Spearman and to another location in Hutchinson County TX — Evacuation orders were lifted overnight Hwy 136 between Roosevelt Street and the Fairlanes intersection will remain closed at this time You will continue to
