147936Following a pretty impressive road win to start the season
Penn State kicked off the 2024 home slate against Joe's-300th-Win victim Bowling Green
which also happened to be the game I attended during the regular season
I forgot to wear a hat when leaving home that morning
and most of the game I wondered in my superstitous manner whether I'd cursed the team to losing to a MAC team
Here are the extended highlights:https://youtu.be/Yn0cc3I95Jg?si=Vt8-AlSZGSijCwWE
And the BTN-in-60 version:https://youtu.be/ku0qvcoWe6E?si=-9EKw-nyZOKrO_BZ
AND the full game for those so inclined:https://youtu.be/Lh9ka0u82Jw?si=EPWKOzS9bhkPUA1w

Really nice play design by BGSU for that 3rd down pickup early in the game
So simple yet such a huge window for that throw
And followed up by a gorgeous back shoulder throw
And then yet more great play design and execution for the TD
Cool to hear the comment early in the highlight package about Warren being the most complete TE in the country knowing that he would
nice to hear Millen talking about the OL being a solid group despite losing 3 guys to the NFL knowing that they'd end up being our best OL in quite a while
I vaguely recall gem saying into the second quarter that the scary thing was that it wasn't flukey stuff or blown assignments; BGSU was legitimately rolling our defense
Absolute BS PI call on Miller about 9 minutes into the first
How many people other than me were in really bad shape when we went down 17-7 at home to a MAC team
He hadn't done much of that in prior years; very strong up and churning deep into the secondary with guys hanging off him
thank God Allar got that TD pass off to Evans
and Allar was going to get F'd up if he held onto that even a beat longer
if Carter doesn't blow up that 4th down conversion midway through the 2nd and Bazelak lets that ball go
Bazelak would've had to have sent that way over Wheatley and way out in front to not have that picked or knocked away
If Warren isn't as good as he is this past season
I'd have been campaigning for Fannin to win the Mackey
Really well-executed zone drop by BGSU's front on that 3rd down right before the half
This game was not the OL's best of 2024 in terms of pass pro
Not the cleanest catch ever by Singleton on that TD in the 3rd
Singleton really came into his own as a receiver this past season
Still annoyed by that missed facemask on Allen's long run right before the end of the 3rd
I was hard on him for his tackling this past season
I forgot how much time BGSU wasted gaining like 20 yards on that last drive
They were at midfield with 4 minutes left and kicked the field goal with 50 seconds left
What a recovery by Kobe King on that onside kick
Wouldn't expect him to have those hops or hands

-We learned mushmouth Allen was hard to understand on the communications to Kobe in addition to the team having audio problems to boot which is why we also looked so out of sorts on D
this was the game too where Winston got knocked out
Or was that in the practice leading up to it
-I was losing my ***** watching this thinking we might be in for a rough year and was already envisioning the headlines if we lost after we were getting univeral praise for stomping WVU days earlier

a couple of things with this game:-We learned mushmouth Allen was hard to understand o..
tried to give it a go in this game and couldn't
I feel vindicated for not giving Tom Allen the benefit of the doubt after this game
Really just inexcusable given the talent on this defense and we faced a similar first half shredding in the Big Ten Championship game which obviously was too much to overcome

We talk about the USC game a lot (and will in a few weeks)
but it could've been a truly disastrous season if we blew it to BGSU
You know damn well we don't get *anywhere* near the leniency that that evil school in Indiana did for losing to NIU

May 5, 2025 9:03 AM EDTIn this story:Ohio State Buckeyes NewsThe Ohio State Buckeyes have had a positive experience with the spring transfer portal this year
losing just four players — none of whom were on scholarship
Ohio State made it through the spring without losing a single scholarship athlete
and wide receiver Reis Stocksdale — all walk-ons — have decided to leave the program
the Buckeyes have added three players through the portal: former North Carolina defensive end Beau Atkinson
and West Virginia offensive tackle Justin Terry
One of the departing Buckeyes has already found a promising landing spot
Stocksdale has one year of eligibility remaining
The former Ohio State walk-on has decided to transfer to Bowling Green State University
where he will play under new head coach Eddie George
Stocksdale recorded just one catch for 12 yards back in 2022
Given the limited opportunities for playing time in Columbus during the 2025 season
transferring to Bowling Green is a smart move if he hopes to see meaningful snaps on the field
Stocksdale is the only former Ohio State walk-on with a confirmed new destination after entering the portal
his move to Bowling Green won’t take him far — just a short trip to Northwest Ohio
is entering his first season as head coach at BGSU
Having a former Buckeye on his inaugural roster surely isn’t something he thought he would have at Bowling Green
which includes Cleveland Browns and Ohio State football coverage
Brandon provides overall coverage of the NFL at times
The 2023 season will be Brandon’s fifth covering the Browns
as he spent the previous four with Sports Illustated/FanNation
Brandon comes from North Central Ohio and has been in the sports writing business in since 2017
Brandon has covered the Ohio State Buckeyes

– Kentucky State Police is investigating a fatal Warren County crash
KSP Public Affairs Officer Katan Parker says troopers responded to a two vehicle crash at the 8800 block of Kentucky Highway 185 at just after 6 pm on Friday
KSP was contacted by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office
KSP’s preliminary investigation shows Pamela Hayes
and struck a vehicle driving north driven by Elizabeth Kemp
were declared dead at the scene by the Warren County Coroner’s Office
Kemp and her juvenile passenger sustained minor injuries
– This year is the 151st running of the Kentucky Derby
and two horses have local connections to the South Central Kentucky area: Tiztastic & Sandman
who is the owner of The Mint Gaming Hall and Kentucky Downs
Winchell said he’s feeling confident about his horse’s abilities after winning the Louisiana Derby
“Coming from Kentucky Downs after he won those two races
our goal was to get here… and a lot of times
your goals don’t work out,” Winchell said
“We’re happy it worked out… and he’s been improving the last couple of weeks
and we feel like he’s improving this week
So we’re coming into it feeling pretty good.”
Sandman who is 6:1 is the third favorite to win the Run for the Roses
with West Point Thoroughbreds – the company owning him – being operated by a Bowling Green native who has lived here with her husband for the past 10 years
“He graduated dental school at UK and then we moved down here and he has since become a partner at Bluegrass Oral Health… and then my parents
who started West Point Thoroughbreds in 1991… once we had kids in 2019
they purchased a house down here and spend about six months out of the year in Bowling Green,” said Erin Birkenhauer
While the two may be competing against each other in the Derby
they both agree on one thing: the horse racing scene in South Central Kentucky is alive and well
“It’s just really neat with Epicenter a couple of years ago… and then our connection with Sandman
it’s really cool,” Birkenhauer said
“A lot of people in Bowling Green actually went to the preschool derby at my kid’s school this morning just to see all the people… it’s not just Lexington and Louisville where people are horse crazy and really paying attention to the Derby
So just seeing all of the people that have gathered behind Sandman is really neat.”
“It’s really a product of us improving the racing there every year
and we’ve been doing that for five years
So seeing the three horses and what’s coming from Kentucky Downs to the Kentucky Derby is just an example of how the product just gets improved
We get better quality horses… and so it’s really nice to see it actually come to fruition,” Winchell says
