calculating Arrowhead freshman Allison Guiser who ruled the day at the Classic 8 Conference girls golf 18-hole finale on Wednesday
Guiser’s individual championship put the final touches on the Warhawks’ wire-to-wire run to the conference team title
a dose of redemption that was welcome after Arrowhead lost the championship by one point last season to Oconomowoc
"This was a big goal for us," Warhawks coach Ryan Andrews said
"especially given the way we just missed out last season
it was a bit gut-wrenching for Andrews in the playoff
He shuttled Guiser and Lang back and forth from the green to the tee on multiple occasions at the par 3
120-yard 18th hole at Broadlands in North Prairie that was used for their playoff
because both were eminently qualified to claim the individual title
Lang claimed medalist honors in the 18-hole final with a 76
That left the pair tied with identical season-long league nine-hole scoring averages of 39.25
forcing the playoff for season medalist honors and a nice little trophy
Andrews quipped to the interested gathering crowd on the knoll above the 18th green
The duo both parred the hole on the first three go-arounds
with Lang sinking a nervy eight-foot comebacker to match Guiser on the first try
Guiser dropped an excellent tee shot just 12 feet short of the hole on the low side
Lang then hit a nice chip that settled 5 feet below the hole
but that left Guiser with an opportunity to win if she could sink her birdie putt
She calmly did so before the approving impromptu gallery of players
The pair then hugged for a time before making their way back to the Broadlands deck for the awards ceremony and a fish fry lunch
“It was a big relief when it finally went in,” said Guiser
the younger sister of three-time Wisconsin Junior PGA champion
2020 WIAA state individual champion and current University of Florida player Jessica Guiser
and we were both pretty happy with the outcome because we knew one of us was going to win
Everyone on this team is just an amazing golfer and this playoff showed that.”
“It was tough to see them competing against one another,” he said
because these girls all root for each other so much
it was best to lose to one of your teammates.”
Lang and Allison Guiser’s excellent efforts led second-ranked Arrowhead to a spectacular 18-hole score of 320 at the Broadlands as the Warhawks capped off their overall Classic 8 season title with a 17-stroke victory
while Kettle Moraine was third with a 346 and Oconomowoc fourth with 350

Madison Calteux, the first-year coach of the 10th-ranked Warriors, thought it was a sound but emotional day for the senior-laden squad.
“It was a good day, an emotional day for our seniors,” she said. “For me, too. I had worked with the JV kids for the last few years so it was really cool getting to know these kids this season.”
The deep Classic 8 field did exceptionally well as a group on the sunny and warm day at the Broadlands, with 22 players breaking 90 for 18 holes.
Other top 10 individual finishers at the Broadlands included Waukesha co-op’s Reagan Piacsek and Mukwonago’s Elizabeth Vanderhei (81 apiece), Oconomowoc’s Aubrey Westerman (82), Kettle Moraine’s Reagan Cloninger (84), and Waukesha’s Viviana Hruby, Catholic Memorial’s Sydney Koetterhagen and Muskego’s Martina Hudaj, all with 85s.
Earning first-team all-Classic 8 efforts for their season-long showings were Guiser, Lang, Westerman, Piacsek, Reed and Vanderhei.
“Aubrey caps off a great senior season in the Classic 8 Conference,” Dahl said. “She was in the running for player of the year and has had several excellent finishes in major tournaments — eighth at Franklin Invite, sixth at Waukesha County Championship and seventh at the conference championship,” Dahl said. “She has put a lot of work into her game and it has really paid off, but she’s not done yet.”
Among those earning second-team honors were Muskego’s Ari Lietzow, McAlister, Ella Gibson, and Hudaj and Arrowhead’s Johannes.
Honorable mention selections included Koetterhagen, Avery Sallmann of Kettle Moraine, Ella Chitwood of Mukwonago, Clare Sperka of Muskego, Maria Jorgensen and Laci Griswold of Oconomowoc, and Ashley Gilroy and Nelson of Arrowhead.
“For Maria and Laci, earning third team is a great achievement and shows the gains from their sophomore season,” Dahl said. “Maria had a solid front nine of 42 and Laci had a wonderful 41 on the back nine.”
Senior Emerson Ihde posted a 94, but bounced back nicely with a 43 on the back nine. Senior Hayden Weber shot a personal-best score of 92, while junior Reese O’Driscoll continued to show improvement after some swing adjustments to also card a 92.
“This team has the ability to make it to sectionals and challenge Brookfield Central and Muskego for a potential State tournament appearance,” Dahl said. “It all comes down to confidence and execution. I know these girls are working hard to make it a reality.”
WIAA tournament competition will now begin next week with regional action at various sites with qualifiers advancing to sectional play the week after. The WIAA state meet will be held Oct. 14 and 15 at University Ridge in Madison.

Leader of the Council, Daniel Elmer, said:
"We face a pivotal decision regarding Norfolk's future governance and our priority is to ensure the best possible outcomes for all residents, regardless of where they live. South Norfolk Council has voted to support a two-unitary council model: one serving Norwich and East Norfolk including Great Yarmouth, and the other encompassing West Norfolk.
This structure, driven by the government's criteria of improved public service delivery, offers the optimal balance between cost-effectiveness and preserving local identities. By aligning with economic geographies, we can unlock the potential of Greater Norwich and Great Yarmouth, while ensuring rural communities remain connected to vital services.
This model achieves the government's population requirement, avoids disruptive boundary changes, and allows for rapid, cost-effective implementation without disrupting existing communities."
“There’s a lot of great work happening in our communities to help protect the environment and our recycle events provide local residents with the opportunity to clear out their cupboards and get rid of things they no longer want or use

This follows the initial consultation that was held over the summer
This round of engagement will focus on the draft vision for the design code
and the priorities and opportunities for the different types of character area that have been identified
South Norfolk and Broadland District Councils have appointed Tibbalds Planning and Urban Design to prepare a design code for both councils to improve the quality and consistency of planning design across the local authority areas
National planning legislation makes it clear that all local planning authorities should prepare their own design guides or codes that meet the principles set out in national design guidance and that reflect local character and design preferences
Design codes should provide a framework for creating high quality
A design code is a set of specific and unambiguous design requirements for the physical development of a site or an area
graphically illustrated and set out in a clear format
The code for Broadland and South Norfolk will place particular emphasis on the quality of landscaping
the character of local buildings and the use of distinctive materials
South Norfolk Councillor Lisa Overton-Neal said:
“We are lucky to live in one of the most beautiful parts of the country and it’s our responsibility to protect the qualities that make South Norfolk unique
A design guide will help us ensure that new homes fit in with existing houses and enhance the district.”
Broadland District Councillor Martin Booth said:
“Broadland has a rich social history and is home to some outstanding buildings
Housing growth is essential in our district
and a design guide will allow us to have a say in how the homes of the future will look.”
