A Bucyrus man died Monday following a crash on state Route 4 in Marion County where the bicycle he was riding was struck by a pickup truck pulling a trailer was transported to Marion General Hospital where he was pronounced dead according to a release from the Marion Post of the State Highway Patrol The crash happened north of Marseilles Galion Road where Arn was travelling south on the west side of state Route 4 on a bicycle A 78-year-old man from Marion drove a Ford 150 pulling a livestock trailer and a 29-year-old Marion woman drove a Ford Bronco on the same road Arn was riding on the gravel berm before swerving left and entering the roadway Neither of the other two people involved in the crash or their passengers reported any injuries The crash still remains under investigation The South Milwaukee museum is an immersive homage to machinery and diggers spanning a century Big Muskie was a massive walking dragline excavator Built in 1969 and designed by Bucyrus Erie – the heavy equipment manufacturing giant that defined industry in South Milwaukee for 130 years – Big Muskie stood nearly 22 stories tall and could move 39 million pounds of earth an hour You’ll see a small-scale replica on display at the Bucyrus Museum (1919 12th Ave. photos and more that tell stories of diggers spanning a century Carolyn Shireman has resigned from Bucyrus City Council submitted her resignation Monday by way of a letter from her lawyer "I am submitting this letter of resignation to the Bucyrus City Council for personal reasons "I will return the laptop and any other city property to my attorney Shireman took office in January 2024 after securing her seat nearly a year earlier Shireman and two others — Kevin Myers and Vicki Dishon — all ran in the May 2023 primary for the city's three at-large council seats All three remained unchallenged in the November 2023 general election and were elected But by July 2024, Shireman was removed from a council meeting The councilwoman began the July 23 meeting by asking that the public be banned from speaking during that night's gathering was the only council member who voted to cut public participation a woman in the audience addressed council members including a few sentences directed toward Shireman Shireman interrupted her to say: "I don't want you talking about me during council." asked the councilwoman several times to be courteous The woman's fellow council member Myers then moved to have Shireman barred from the remainder of the meeting Councilwoman Aaron Sharrock seconded the motion Shireman was the only person who voted against having herself kicked out of the meeting but had sent the inquiry by email ahead of time Council Clerk Miranda Wise read Shireman's email out loud "I would like to take a moment to clear the air on why I have not been to some meetings," Shireman's letter began "I have filed a civil protection order on an individual who also attends council meetings as a visitor." Shireman was arrested on suspicion of exploitationBy January 2025, Shireman was arrested on suspicion of exploitation A news release provided by Crawford County Sheriff Scott Kent explained that Shireman was the power of attorney for a 52-year-old individual with developmental disabilities the Crawford County Sheriff's Office received a complaint from the Crawford County Board of Developmental and Disabilities in reference to possible theft violations," the news release reads The alleged victim's case manager tried to collect checking account information "Detectives obtained a subpoena for the victim’s bank account between the dates of December 2019 through October 2024," the news release reads "The investigation revealed multiple fraudulent withdrawals along with purchases that were made by Shireman for her personal benefit," the news release reads It was also discovered that the victim had closed both his 401(k) and life insurance accounts Officers asked the alleged victim about the records They said they were unaware of the account activity and had never given Shireman permission to make those transactions an interview was conducted with Shireman at her residence," the news release reads she denied using the victim’s account for personal gain and said everything she spent money on "Shireman was placed under arrest after consulting with the Crawford County Prosecutor's Office and was transported to the Crawford County Justice Center." Shireman was charged with second-degree felony theft according to Crawford County Municipal Court records An 87-year-old man who is a registered sex offender and charged with public indecency involving a 13-year-old Marion student pleaded guilty to the fifth-degree felony in Marion County Common Pleas Court on Thursday is in custody pending sentencing by Judge Todd Anderson Barrows admitted to law enforcement he was following the child Jan his pants and underwear pulled down and his genitals exposed according to a news release from Prosecutor Ray Grogan The student reported in January that a white male with grey hair dressed in a yellow shirt and driving a white vehicle followed her slowly as she walked home from school Police discovered Barrows was under supervision at the Ohio Adult Parole Authority and is a registered sex offender from the state of Florida He had a prior conviction for lewd and lascivious acts with a victim under the age of 16 in 2021 and also was convicted of public indecency in 2022 in Marion County Municipal Court More: Man who allegedly followed student home from school charged with pubic indecency During its investigation the Marion Police Department used FLOCK cameras to find the vehicle "I commend the young victim for her awareness and courage in providing a detailed description that led to the swift apprehension of the suspect," Grogan said in the release "I also want to recognize the prompt and effective response of our police officers and the invaluable assistance of the Ohio Adult Parole Authority “This case is particularly disturbing due to the targeted nature of the act and the prior convictions of the offender," Grogan said.
