Dancing With the Stars alum Cheryl Burke often shares TikTok videos of herself getting ready or doing her makeup
but a recent video has fans saying she looks “unrecognizable.”
Burke is seen without makeup doing her version of the Gladdest “Done With Your EX” meme
where she mimes along to the song before transitioning into a full body shot where she’s seen in full makeup and a glamorous dress
also opens up about “reinventing” herself since reaching the big 4-0 a year ago
her video attracted comments from people saying the reality star doesn’t look like herself
“If I didn’t see the name I would’ve never guess who this was.”
“I didn’t recognize her,” said another
“She keeps saying she’s Cheryl Burke but not sure,” another added
“What happened ….this is not Cheryl.”
“Imma have to ask these celebrities to reintroduce themselves at this point
What is going on,” one commenter quipped
others fired back at the negative comments
“Uh uh y’all need to calm down..and focus on the issues in your own life because WHY are y’all commenting on how she looks….what she looks like is HAPPY to me.”
some women go up in down with their weight most of their adult lives
it costs nothing to be kind,” said another
“Wow some of these comments are wild
This isn’t the first time Burke’s videos have sparked negative comments about her looks and weight
But what no one asked is… How do you feel?”

But many of her fans were caught off guard by the clip

🥺 She doesn’t look the same."
While showing off her makeup look in the second half of the video
Burke also gave fans a glimpse at her outfit
featuring a skin-tight purple dress that showed off her extremely toned physique."Omg Cheryl
Hope you’re healthy mama!" one of her fans wrote
while others speculated about the possible use of a weight loss drug like Ozempic
"I hate how everyone feels they need to look sooo skinny now 😔" one user wrote

Vendor margin cuts and AI disruption are reshaping partner trust
Here’s that the IT channel ecosystem needs from vendors before it’s too late
change is constant and consistent – but not always collaborative
In this second episode of The Channel Angle
I sat down with CRN Executive Editor Steve Burke and Technology Concepts Group CEO Avis Yates-Rivers to unpack what’s really happening between vendors and partners in this new era of AI and margin compression
one message rang loud and clear: vendors who want lasting loyalty must match innovation with clear intentions
especially with the pace of disruption is fast
Here are five key takeaways every vendor needs to understand if they want to stay relevant in a channel-led future:
Vendors are shifting compensation models and cutting partner margins
These decisions don’t just alter spreadsheets and P&Ls; they shake the foundation of trust
When Google slashed margins for its Gemini AI Workspace offering
“It really does put an undue burden on us in the channel…and that does begin to erode trust.” Particularly for smaller firms
a lack of clear communication or warning around major changes makes it harder to commit to long-term strategies
it may force partners to walk away for better options
but it won’t stop a partner from moving to a vendor who they see as a true collaborator
Long gone are the days of simple product resell
Today’s channel ecosystem is led by strategic service providers designing full-stack
They aren’t just delivering tools as a pass through
they are delivering business transformation
Burke points out that “the partner brand is driving the products…with business outcome-based managed services.” This means vendors can no longer simply push product and expect results
They have to equip their partners with the tools
Her company recently launched cybersecurity-as-a-service
tying in AI and subscription models to provide more value to clients
Burke credited this partner-first approach with “driving the AI revolution.”
some vendors continue to prioritize direct to consumer sales
putting them in competition with their own channel partners
Yates-Rivers did not hold back: “There’s uneven investment
Some vendors are heavily investing in partner ecosystems and other prioritize direct to customer relationships.”
The inconsistency doesn’t just confuse the market
The lesson here is clear: if you want a channel to advocate for your product
And it’s reshaping the channel faster than anything since
Yates-Rivers and her team are all-in on AI
They’ve used generative AI to conduct market research
design go-to-market strategies and frame their newest solutions
If you’re not leveraging AI in the same ways
they you’re going to be behind the curve.”
calling AI “a once in a lifetime opportunity; much bigger than anything we’ve ever seen with cloud or client-server computing.”
The message from both experts is clear: vendors who fail to support their partners in adopting AI through tools
will be left behind right alongside late AI adopters
Perhaps the most important takeaway is also the simplest: include your partners earlier
Vendors that make top-down decisions in isolation
Yates-Rivers laid out a vision for what’s possible: more advisory councils
and proactive communication about what’s coming around the corner
“There are channel partners that have committed to helping vendors grown their businesses,” she said
“I’d like to see a better balance of trade there.”
the best vendors do more than just provide technology
treating partners as the strategic extension of their business – not as a line item to be optimized away
The AI revolution is happening at warp speed
Competition is fiercer than the Cowboy Carter Tour
But what will truly define vendor success in the next five years is not just innovation
It’s how well vendors invest in their channel relationships
“It’s not just about the technical know-how
and maintaining strong relationships.” The partners are ready

'That catch was insane': Robert's GS robbery fuels Burke
Sox to winThe center fielder also went 2-for-4 with 4 RBIs and a stolen base for one of his best all-around games of the yearMay 1st
CHICAGO -- Expert lip readers might have been able to ascertain White Sox right-hander Sean Burke’s mound comments shown on the CHSN broadcast after a grand slam-saving catch made by Luis Robert Jr. ended a tenuous first inning without the Brewers scoring Thursday afternoon at Rate Field
But following the White Sox 8-0 victory
a smiling Burke explained what he was thinking during that crucial moment
he copped to what he could while keeping his postgame interview session PG-rated
“Something to the likes of 'Holy [expletive]
Thank the lord,' something like that,” said Burke with a broad smile
“I don't even remember but that catch was insane
He's got a lot more money than I do but I owe him something."
the White Sox Opening Day starter had thrown just five of his 17 pitches for strikes and walked the bases loaded with two outs
Those misses outside the zone brought up Rhys Hoskins
who connected on an 0-2 curve ball with a blast featuring an .880 expected batting average and one that would have been a home run in 13 of 30 ballparks
Robert appeared to get an awkward initial jump but raced back to make the spectacular grab at the top of the wall
When asked if Hoskins’ drive would have been a grand slam without his heroics
Robert didn’t need an interpreter to provide a response
All I know is I caught the ball,” said Robert
before returning to interpreter Billy Russo for the remainder of the conversation
“I knew it was a very high fly ball and I knew that I had a chance to make the catch.”
“Just kind of a sigh of relief that I was out of it and from there you just go in with your stuff,” Burke said
“I definitely think that catch helped out a ton.”
From there, Burke was efficient, going without another walk issued for 94 pitches and six scoreless innings. He struck out five while ending a personal four-game losing streak, picking up his first victory since Opening Day
If Robert didn’t do enough with the glove, he also added two hits, four RBIs and a tied-for-Major-League-best 13th stolen base. Robert’s first-inning single scored Chase Meidroth
who returned from the injured list and hit leadoff in his first game back
and his three-run double cleared the bases as a highlight of a four-run seventh inning
“I’ve been working toward that goal,” said Robert of contributing on all levels
“It doesn’t matter if I have a bad week or a bad month
And I’m always working hard to do better to improve and to show the kind of player that I am
Lately the results have been there and that’s good.”
He just hasn’t had the pitches to do damage on,” said White Sox manager Will Venable of Robert
We know that he’s going to be right there every day
Those two hits left Robert one short of 500 for his career. It was Miguel Vargas’ three-run homer to left in the sixth that gave the White Sox control
while also giving Vargas a career-best eight-game hitting streak
Since making an adjustment with his hands at the plate
Vargas has raised his average from .139 to .222 with a 13-for-29 stretch
I was just trying to put the ball in play and get an RBI so we extend the lead a little more
Happy to get a win today,” said Vargas of the homer

Thursday’s win ended a three-game losing streak overall for the White Sox (8-23)
They also ended an eight-game losing streak to the Brewers
which is tied with the Cubs for the most in MLB
Those results looked unlikely until Robert’s first-inning grab
“That catch was one of the keys of the game,” Robert said
“Not just for Sean but for us as a team collectively
Burke County saw a slight drop in its unemployment rate in March
The county’s unemployment rate was 3.8% in March
It was slightly higher than the state rate of 3.7% but still below the national rate of 4.2%
according to North Carolina Department of Commerce figures
With a 3.8% unemployment rate and 40,098 people in the workforce
1,514 people are unemployed but actively looking for a job
Burke County was one of 43 counties in the state that saw its rate decrease in March
The Hickory-Lenoir-Morganton metropolitan statistical area saw its unemployment rate fall slightly in March to 3.6%
The local metro area was one of five that saw a rate decrease during March
Seven of the state’s 15 metro areas saw increases and three remained unchanged
the number of people in the labor force in the Hickory-Lenoir-Morganton metropolitan area declined over the past year
dropping from 172,035 in March 2024 to 170,417 in March 2025
The statewide labor force has steadily increased
March 2025 marked the 16th consecutive month that the Hickory area
had fewer people in the labor force when comparing year-over-year data
November 2023 was the last time the metro area had more people in the labor force than it did the same month in the previous year
Department of Commerce defines the labor force as “the total number of age 16+
noninstitutionalized civilians who are working or are actively seeking work and are available for employment.”
Western Piedmont Council of Governments Director of the Workforce Development Board Charity Patterson Hamber said the declining workforce is largely due to an aging population
The workforce development board is comprised primarily of private sector employers
“As the baby boomer generation reaches retirement age
we are witnessing a significant outflow of experienced workers,” Hamber said by email
“This trend not only reduces the overall labor pool but also leads to the loss of valuable leadership
institutional knowledge and industry expertise.”
Hamber said fewer college and high school age people are entering the workforce compared to previous generations
“A secondary factor involves a segment of the adult population
who are not currently engaged in the workforce,” Hamber said
“Many are serving as caregivers for family members
while others may have the financial stability that allows them to opt out of the labor force altogether.”
Hamber said the health care industry was the most likely industry to struggle with hiring
“As the baby boomer generation continues to age
the demand for health care services will only increase
creating a sustained need for workers across a variety of health care professions,” Hamber said
People looking for work in Burke County have options in sectors such as government

The 2025 NFL Draft was a unique one compared to others because it was a deep class with minimal top-end talent
It meant some next-level players were available later on and the Arizona Cardinals made the most of those chances
The Cardinals had four swings at the plate for day three picks and perhaps none were as intriguing as their fifth-round pick: Denzel Burke
The Ohio State (of course) cornerback has been a key player to that defense for several years now
Burke had shown plenty of excitement and the potential to adjust to the pros in that time
but we did see more often than not that Burke likely is who he is -- an average player
the Valley product joins the Cardinals with tons of playing experience and plenty of tools to develop
Burke has displayed enough to convince many that he could one day be an NFL-starting cornerback
Arizona getting to roll the dice on him was a great decision
even for a deep room and could be considered a "perfect fit" for the team
I believe the following three factors could turn him into the perfect pick for the Cardinals if everything lines up in place
1.) Another body to an intriguing roomThe cornerback room in the desert is a deep one
Even before the 2025 draft class added Burke and second-round pick Will Johnson
the Cardinals didn't need to add anyone
He's a talented player who will have to fight his way onto the field
It's the best-possible scenario for a guy like him to develop
2.) Untapped potential with the right coachingI'm not here to tell you Burke is Jalen Ramsey in disguise
but I do believe that there's more to this player than what we've seen
Burke has been an average corner during his time with Ohio State
but the highs had him in day one conversations in the past
maybe we can get the best of Burke onto the field
3.) Stash and developHow deep the cornerback room is for the Cardinals is what will get Burke to his best potential
If the potential I believe is still there is truly attainable
Thanks to the amount of players already ahead of him on the depth chart
and that could be exactly what he needs to become the star he was made to be
Selecting Burke on day three is a classic lottery ticket
Some extra coaching is needed for him than others
we have seen Burke's upside and it's enough to justify being a starter at the next level
The fit with the Cardinals is wonderful because he can sit and learn
while Arizona has no pressure to rush him out
Both parties will be able to benefit in the long-term and we could look back at this pick as an outstanding value selection

Print When filmmaker Joe Burke talks about his microbudget indie film “Burt,” he can’t stop saying the word “magic.” He seems to chase that magic
perhaps rooted in his days as a teenage magician working at Outback Steakhouse in his hometown of Toledo
though the project had been gestating for seven years by the time cameras rolled
which he made with longtime friend and collaborator Oliver Cooper
was borne of a lot of heart and DIY resourcefulness
“Everything is so alive,” Burke says of their no-budget process
“the electricity of getting in there and finding these magical moments,” ones that remind them of their origins
“Burt” has its Los Angeles premiere on Saturday at the Fine Arts Theatre in Beverly Hills
screening “Burt” might have — it doesn’t have distribution yet
But Burke and Cooper have realized that it’s up to them to forge the path for it
But despite pursuing their own career paths
Burke and Cooper are still each other’s favorite collaborators
an aimless aspiring actor who lives with his aunt and spends his days with an older friend from acting class (Dan Bakkedahl
Ever the resourceful indie filmmakers inspired by real life
Both Burke and Cooper are inspired by real people — their lives
their homes — and seek to capture that authenticity in their films
“All the characters we’ve explored are people that are kind of forgotten
Burke believes that his own interest in these people
often played by nonprofessional actors in his work
people are going to be entertained by this person,” he insists
It had been more than a decade since “Four Dogs,” and Burke was itching to make a second film
sustaining himself by teaching at the New York Film Academy campus in Burbank and making Instagram sketches and short films with Cooper
There was one person who had caught Burke’s attention: Burt Berger, a late-60s-ish musician he’d seen playing guitar table-to-table at the Old Place restaurant in Malibu
and he was taken with Berger’s folksy tunes and warm
Cooper also had met Berger separately at an open mic at the Cahuenga General Store
It became obvious they’d happened upon a real Los Angeles character in Berger
the duo thought of Berger to play a small part
asked him if he had any acting experience (just a few commercial auditions) and cast him
“Improvin’ On,” for the end of the film (he also performs the song in “Burt”)
their Hollywood dreams and mulling ways to make a narrative film that could feature Berger’s open heart and big dreams
“I wanted it to be about Burt’s essence — his soul
When Burke brought up the idea of a whole film about him
my dreams are slowly unfolding in front of me after all the years of pursuing them.”
“You really don’t need that much to make something great,” says Oliver Cooper
that’s all that matters.” (JSquared Photography / For The Times) In 1977
Berger drove to Los Angeles in a van with his best friend to chase music stardom
“I’m stupid because I think I’m going to make it big and stubborn because I’m never going to give up,” he says
“At first I couldn’t believe Joe sees that in me,” says Berger
“but then I realized I gotta trust this guy
While Burke toiled to get other film projects off the ground
he continued working with Cooper and Berger on what would ultimately become “Burt,” the fictionalized story of Sammy (Cooper)
that Sammy’s intentions aren’t entirely virtuous
as Burt shares he has money from an inheritance stashed away
The final piece of the “Burt” puzzle was Steve Levy
They planned to shoot the film at their house
and a test shoot revealed Levy and Berger’s screen chemistry
with Levy bringing a singular delivery and sharp comedic edge of blunt skepticism that provides a foil to the sweetly trusting Burt
While Cooper scraped together the tiny budget from his own money
Burke promised him they could shoot the film in a week
He brought on his college pal Daniel Kenji Levin as cinematographer and called on their network of friends to fill supporting roles
including Cooper’s “Mindhunter” acting coach Catlin Adams
an Actors Studio alum who plays Sammy’s scheming aunt Sylvia
It wasn’t just the financial constraints of indie filmmaking driving Burke’s urgency to get the film going but Berger’s Parkinson’s disease as well
He had been diagnosed during their years of friendship
and Burke noticed his friend’s tremor while they were hanging out
whose father also has Parkinson’s; he was caring for him during the shoot
So as he was directing his father-son film
Burke was living a parallel version of the story himself
filled with sly humor and surprising twists that harks to classic indie films of the early ’90s in its raw
Burt is simply a character living with Parkinson’s
Berger has moved back to the East Coast to live with family as his disease has progressed
Burke knew he had to capture his star exactly at the right moment
when he was still able to play and sing and chase a dream
“I can’t play the guitar as well as I used to,” says Berger
“but I’m still not giving up.” (“Burt and I are both exactly the same in that way,” says Burke
It’s a challenge to make a film like “Burt”— and quite another to bring such a handmade film to audiences
Burke went 0 for 28 in film festival acceptances
which made him question if “Burt” might be the final chapter of his career instead of a launching pad
He even considered an offer from his mom to move back to Ohio
But a word of encouragement (and a crucial co-sign) from one of Cooper’s mentors, filmmaker David Gordon Green
They sent the “All the Real Girls” indie veteran a screener
When they asked him via email to come on board as an executive producer
he replied with one word: “Duh.” (Green will also be moderating a Q&A with the filmmakers at the Saturday screening.)
the film’s fortunes have changed on the festival circuit
the Phoenix Film Festival and the Florida Film Festival
“You really don’t need that much to make something great,” says Cooper of their DIY approach
now beginning to yield dividends if not quite a deal
We didn’t have anything for this and we were able to make something that’s moving.”
In an industry that seems in dire straits, is there room for a small, heartfelt film featuring a classic L.A. character like Burt? For dreamers who still cling to hope in the City of Angels, there needs to be.
“I don’t know why I felt so compelled to make sure this guy was seen before it was too late,” Burke says. “I don’t know why the universe brought me into this guy’s life, but it did. Maybe the movie is why.”
Cooper adds, “We did something good for this guy, and I feel like my heart is fuller as a performer.”

As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting our CU Boulder faculty
we offer a variety of programs and training to promote the professional growth
as well as opportunities to build an interdisciplinary faculty community through mentoring and networking events
The Office of Faculty Affairs (OFA) is excited to announce Burke Hilsabeck’s appointment as the new Director of Faculty Relations and Community
Having served as Assistant Director over the past year
Hilsabeck brings a deep respect for the rhythms and realities of faculty life at CU Boulder
and a clear commitment to making that life a little better
We sat down with Hilsabeck to learn more about how his background has prepared him for this role and what he’s most excited to build alongside the CU Boulder faculty community
Faculty Relations supports faculty by helping them navigate the unique challenges of academic life
Faculty careers are distinct in ways that are sometimes invisible from the outside; it's a career path shaped by years—often more than a decade—of intensive postgraduate education
Faculty members deeply value their autonomy
the relationships faculty form with students
and with the institution carry a different weight and complexity
people often spend their entire careers within the same department
and that is why it’s so important to build skills that don’t just resolve tension but bolster relationships over time
Having been a faculty member and a department chair myself
I understand the various pressures faculty face
from achieving tenure to navigating professional isolation
I’ve also worked through conflicts that can arise in these tight-knit environments
I also genuinely like faculty; I’m endlessly curious about their research
I took on this job because I want to help make faculty life better
Faculty careers demand extraordinary dedication
often at the cost of personal bandwidth for relational work
and that reality needs to be met with open-mindedness and compassion
I also believe in patience and a long-term perspective
the processes we have in place can feel difficult in the moment
they exist to protect and support faculty over the course of their careers
Faculty Relations is about helping faculty thrive not just individually
I’m excited to work with Jennifer Fluri
who serves as one of the faculty directors in OFA
to expand restorative practices in the faculty relations context
We’ve already seen some early success there
and I believe strongly that these approaches—centered on dialogue
trust and understanding—fit the needs of faculty life especially well
My goal in the next few months is to also continue building relationships across campus. In a distributed, high-achieving environment like ours, faculty don’t always have the opportunity to connect beyond the demands of their work. I want to help create spaces where faculty can build relationships—places where people can talk
relate and work through challenges together
One important thing to understand is that Faculty Relations is not here to provide administrative oversight or to enforce campus policies in a punitive way
We exist to advise and support faculty and academic leaders as they navigate complex
expectations—so they can continue focusing on what they do best
our goal is not to have faculty avoid conflict altogether
but to help them experience conflict in a way that deepens relationships
It gives me the equilibrium I try to bring into my work with faculty—being calm even when things feel complicated or difficult
It teaches you patience and perspective—skills I use every day in this role
It’s humbling but a good reminder that progress often comes slowly and requires a lot of patience

A Hudson man is facing manslaughter and other charges in connection with a fatal crash Wednesday night in Litchfield that police say might have been intentional
is charged with several offenses in connection with Wednesday night's fatal crash in Litchfield
during his video arraignment in Merrimack District Court Thursday
A 19-year-old Hudson man charged with numerous offenses in connection with Wednesday night’s crash that claimed the life of a Londonderry man was ordered held without bail at his arraignment Thursday in Merrimack District Court
Police say the crash involving a motorcycle and two other vehicles may have been intentional
is facing seven charges including manslaughter and negligent homicide as a result of the crash that killed an as yet unidentified motorcyclist on Route 102 in Litchfield
Police were called to a two-car head-on crash shortly after 9 p.m
was lying unresponsive on the shoulder of the road
The rider was pronounced dead a short time later
on Friday morning after an autopsy was conducted Thursday by the New Hampshire Office of the Chief Medical Examiner
Prosecutor Jason Moore said officers spoke with Burke
and determined that Burke was under the influence
The roadside investigation also indicated that the crash “may have been intentional,” Moore added
suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene
The Mitsubishi driver has not been identified
Burke is facing one count each of manslaughter (reckless); negligent homicide; first-degree assault with a deadly weapon; aggravated DWI (serious bodily injury); reckless conduct (deadly weapon); witness tampering; and vehicular assault
Burke was also charged with one count of second-degree murder
but Litchfield Police Chief Daniel Jones said later that the charge “is not being brought at this time.”
Moore said in his argument for preventive detention that whether the murder charge will be reinstated depends on the continuing investigation into whether Burke intentionally crashed into the motorcyclist
Moore said investigators were planning to reach out to several witnesses Thursday morning
who represented Burke at his arraignment and appeared with him on video from Valley Street jail
told Judge Mark Derby that the defense needs the victim’s information in order to properly represent Burke
Fourakis argued for $10,000 cash bail for Burke
with conditions that include he surrender his driver’s license
not drive any type of vehicle and submit to evaluations for drugs and alcohol as well as for mental health
“There’s no reason to think that John is a danger to himself or others if he’s not driving,” Fourakis said
In granting Moore’s argument for preventive detention
Derby agreed to schedule a probable cause hearing for 11 a.m
telling the parties that they can revisit the bail issue at that time
told the court that Burke was “dealt a bad hand” in childhood
having lived with different relatives during his upbringing
Burke graduated from Alvirne High School last year having earned certification as a diesel engine mechanic
Burke was transported to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua for treatment of minor injuries and then taken to jail
