Mick Schumacher also made a surprise pit stop at Queen while One Tree Hill alum Sophia Bush had prime viewing from her table in the centre of the club Even a staff member from a rival team was understood to be there One noticeable absence was Sergio Perez amid rumours that the ex-F1 driver would be announced as part of Cadillac’s new line-up Fans chanted his name outside and begged the team to hire him but it quickly became clear this particular event was less about anything substantial and mostly just … vibes.  Terry Cruz emerged on stage to introduce Dan Towriss while telling a story about the role that General Motors and Cadillac played in his life The Michigan-born actor joked that he wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for GM bringing his family together.  guests whispered about what exactly was in store for the evening: perhaps a livery reveal The team played a vague video about the visual identity of Cadillac moving forward it partially resembles a Pinterest home page Nondescript images flashed on screen of women wearing cool Cadillac merch, which was interspersed with equally vague shots of an F1 car. It featured several flashes of orange (watch out McLaren) and generic black and white shots of women clad in fashionable clothing.  The night ended with Janelle Monae on the DJ decks after she gave a full performance earlier in the evening Was there any kind of tie-in between the singer-songwriter and Cadillac But what could be more American than enlisting celebrities to help dazzle the motorsport community as it prepares for a new era in 2026.  From Formula 1 to MotoGP we report straight from the paddock because we love our sport In order to keep delivering our expert journalism we want to give you the opportunity to enjoy an ad-free and tracker-free website and to continue using your adblocker — The new Cadillac F1 team officially announced its arrival at a glitzy South Beach extravaganza packed with industry executives and influencers and highlighted by a musical showcase from Janelle Monáe and actor Terry Crews Jr. who shared an anecdote about how he’d never been born had his father not relocated at age 20 to Flint A splashy video ultimately unveiled the Cadillac F1 team logo at a multimillion-dollar party jammed elbow-to-elbow in the Queen Miami Beach venue a bit of a disappointment for those who expected to see all the bells and whistles at the brand launch introduction to F1’s newest team promised the leaders of the new team: Cadillac F1 is on pace to be on the grid in 2026 we've been in the wind tunnel for a long time,” said Dan Towriss we're continuing to add (personnel) to the team there are so many work streams that are happening all at once But I want to make sure everybody understands just how deep the partnership is with General Motors and with Cadillac I think that's something that really will set apart this team Cadillac will debut in 2026 with a two-car lineup that will push the F1 field to 22 cars — the first time since 2016 the grid will have more than 20 cars A long driveIt was a long road for Cadillac F1 to get to this point who failed to buy Sauber in his effort to create a true American team that would feature at least one American driver Andretti petitioned F1 and governing body FIA to expand the field for Andretti Global which led to the equivalent of an IRS audit during a grueling application process Towriss and Cadillac pressed on — they spent the last year saying work on the project “continues on pace” — and when Towriss bought out Andretti late last year F1 changed course and the new team was suddenly fast-tracked General Motors President Mark Reuss was finally able to attend an F1 race — the Miami Grand Prix over the weekend — in an official capacity Reuss pulled out his phone to play an audio clip for reporters of the first Cadillac engine being fired Cadillac will initially race with Ferrari engines before GM's power unit is ready for 2029 Reuss said the Cadillac approach is deliberate to have a reliable fast engine rather than rush one out for next season “You have to go slow to go fast,” Reuss said presence of any F1 team and will operate out of facilities in Fishers The team also has a satellite facility at Silverstone he was adamant it was for an American driver specifically California native and current IndyCar driver Colton Herta Now the list of potential drivers is rather long Towriss and Reuss were adamant they've yet to sign a driver amid reports that Sergio Perez has already signed The need for there to be an American is not a pressing issue to TWG “There’s a lot of interest in this team and we're very appreciative of that,” Towriss said and want that seat respected when that American driver does come in for the team … We’ll find the right way and the right time to bring the right driver into Formula 1.” who races under the Mexican flag but spent most of his childhood in Texas Towriss said they had a funny run-in two weeks ago at the Indianapolis 500 open test when the elevator Towriss was in opened and there was O'Ward; A prime example? The Cadillac Celestiq This $340,000 (starting price) all-electric hand-built super sedan is Cadillac’s big play to remind everyone that it’s “the standard of the world.” If the method for accessing the battery is the new benchmark we might all want to collectively hit the rewind button The good news it’s that it isn’t as bad as was first reported More: Cadillac Projects EVs Will Make Up 35% Of Its Sales This Year Originally, it seemed like a dead 12V battery would trap owners in a strange, high-end version of a luxury escape room. According to GM Authority you’d have to access the cabin through the trunk like a burglar on a mission and then dig your way to the manual release system Only after all that could you finally jump-start the 12V battery back to life Apparently, that’s not the case after all. While Cadillac hasn’t responded to our email from earlier today when we asked them about the procedure, Carbuzz reported (and we’ve also confirmed via the owner’s manual that you can see below) that Celestiq owners have a simpler option The automaker provides jump leads that can relay power directly to the 12V battery in the trunk It’s still not exactly a walk in the park as owners will need to remove an interior panel to access the leads but it’s certainly a far cry from crawling through a $340,000 car like it’s a secret agent mission owners will need to access the trunk by opening it with the physical key and remove the load floor they’ll take out the storage bin underneath and look for the jumper leads on the left side of the trunk and either charge the battery directly or replace it if necessary and maybe buyers with deep enough pockets can request something radical like… a mechanical frunk latch that is unlockable via a key most owners will probably call Cadillac to come deal with it We’re also waiting for Cadillac’s response and will update the article if we hear back from them The Fleetwood Eldorado was all new for 1971 as the model stepped away from sporting pretensions and leaned into the burgeoning brougham and luxury tastes of American consumers the angular late Sixties look of the Eldorado (lauded by almost everyone) was replaced with a curved and bloated shape which grew in all dimensions over its predecessor Today we take a look at the lavish interior accommodations of the 1971 model and talk about cost cutting (Note: The silver car with a houndstooth interior is a 1970 Eldorado while the red car with a black interior is the 1971.) The new Eldorado was one of those instances where things appeared roughly the same on the surface, but revealed otherwise when the details were examined. The three-spoke wheel of 1970 was reworked with a larger center cover, and was a very light modification of the wheel cover in use by Buick that year It no longer wore a stitched leather appearance but luxury was implied via the wood tone around the rim In time the wood of the wheel faded much faster than the dash given its greater UV exposure Beyond the wheel was a similar gauge layout to 1970 The horizontal speedometer remained intact but was compressed horizontally (apparently just for fun) The fuel gauge moved from the right of the speedometer to the left And to its left there were two new vents for the driver oddly contained within the confines of the gauge cluster The warning lights which previously resided below the speedometer were relocated again they were condensed and stacked into a layout that would become more familiar throughout the Seventies and Eighties Their compression combined with the shrunken speedometer meant there was extra space to the right side in the instrument binnacle This was filled with a textured black plastic plate that read Cadillac in the middle Climate controls and light switches stayed put for 1971 The wood itself transitioned from a burled look in 1970 to a horizontal grained style in 1971 There was notably less wood in the instrument cluster: It was removed from the upper section entirely and replaced with black plastic Only the lower portion of the gauge cluster had wood trim the dash was divided between driver and passenger sides by a binnacle that made the cockpit “driver focused.” But for 1971 the design was softened slightly and the dash tucked inward toward the hood more The instruments were also slightly U-shaped around the driver curving where there was previously a straight horizontal line The dash in front of the passenger was notably edited and awkward looking in 1971 The silver Cadillac plaque between the set of four vents was removed and replaced with a black plastic indentation a large analog clock was inserted into the recess Why the clock would be presented only to the front passengers is a mystery; the driver would have a difficult time checking it quickly A minimal amount of editing was performed on the door panels for the 1971 Eldorado The wood insert in the door was the exact same shape as before the grab handle was extended a bit further and ran the full length of the wood trim The armrest lost its rear passenger ashtray compartment Its interior door handle remained in place but received additional chrome decoration and a rectangular handle shape instead of a square one Buttons for the windows remained exactly where they were as did the glued-on panel for the wiper controls The door light and red marker were relocated directly under the handle Seating types were standardized across Eldorado to one: a bench seat The removal of the center console option was in keeping with the new personal luxury and comfort mission statement and offered seating for six adults (in theory) The seat shape was only vaguely revised in 1971 Headrest design was carried over from 1970 while the upper portion of the seat back was reshaped lightly It became a larger section with a button tufted appearance accomplished via two rectangular decor pieces Stitching was removed on the upper seatback but remained the same as 1970 on the lower portion and on the seat bottoms Materials looked slightly more downmarket in some cases with plain cloth available in place of previous houndstooth or brocade the Eldorado’s interior could come off drab in 1971 Given the emphasis on passenger comfort and capability for the new Eldorado there was an interesting update to the back seat quarters likely to give the feeling of more headroom and thus a more comfortable environment and no longer offered a separation between the rear outboard seats The ashtray formerly located in the door was moved to the arm rest at either side which was certainly an easier reach for backseat smokers The window button at either side was removed as the coupe styling meant the rear side windows were no longer operational Think of the plus side: It saved GM two window assemblies It all came together to feel a bit cynical with hindsight The 1971 Eldorado lost styling unique to the model and carried an interior that was very similar to its predecessor but worse in most regards and that blanked off window It was a big weekend for Formula 1 in America with the world championship racing in Miami and announcing an extension to the circuit’s deal that will see it stay on the calendar until 2041 On the sidelines of the dramatic weekend of racing American automaker Cadillac hosted a launch party for its incoming F1 team which could prove to have a longer-lasting impact on F1 in the US.  Formula 1 is making no secret of its desire to expand its reach in America On the back of hit Netflix show Drive to Survive the championship endeavoured to capitalise on the growing interest with new races in the US and a greater effort to woo American audiences.  and the number of people tuning in to watch races on services like ESPN almost doubled between 2018 and 2024 the on-track action and off-track spectacle around races in Miami Las Vegas and Austin are proving that Formula 1’s fit with America is a natural one.  while fans descend on these grands prix in their thousands the attending masses still don’t know what it’s like to watch an American team win a home race This had to change if F1 wanted to prove that it was serious about attracting American motorsport fans.  Enter American automotive giant General Motors which is counting down the days until the Cadillac F1 team makes its debut on the grid in 2026 GM partnered with TWG Motorsports for the entry, which was finally approved over the 2024 Las Vegas Grand Prix weekend, and the side’s activities have steadily ramped up ever since. All manner of job postings have appeared on its site, an engine deal was inked with Ferrari for its inaugural season and formal approval was finally granted for its 2026 entry earlier this year.  With work on the team and car rumbling away nicely behind the scenes GM and TWG chose this weekend as the moment to launch the Cadillac squad and capture the hearts of American fans Before the team had so much as released the name of a driver it would field or shared a render of its 2026 challenger Cadillac kicked off its entry into the world of Formula 1 with all the glitz and glam American fans have come to expect from the series.   the General Motors-owned brand rolled out Michigan-born actor Terry Crews to kick off the festivities invited American singer and actress Janelle Monae to perform and began teasing its arrival on the F1 grid.  The event mirrored the polish that F1 strives for at American races like Las Vegas and the sheer volume of gleaming chrome details and outfits that Cadillac teased during the event rivalled the Vegas shine as well.  The launch kicked the conversation about Cadillac’s F1 entry into overdrive, and fans are already engaged. During the event itself, the F1-obsessed crowded around to see who was invited. Some even called out to Cadillac executives to sign Mexican racer Sergio Perez to the team for the 2026 season.  This is all playing into Cadillac’s hand in developing buzz around the new team During a roundtable event over the Miami Grand Prix weekend Dan Towriss – chief executive of TWG Motorsports the umbrella company that houses Cadillac – went so far as to tell Motorsport.com that he “couldn't be happier with the response to the Cadillac Formula 1 team.” It's reasonable to assume that the momentum behind the team will only increase from here and the reasons for America to get behind the GM outfit will surely rise with it.   America loves a homegrown hero, especially one as proud of its roots as Cadillac clearly is. What’s more, sports fans across the US will always get behind an underdog, which Cadillac will be when it lines up against giants like Ferrari, McLaren and Red Bull in 2026.  American F1 fans haven’t really had either Supporting Haas can be an uphill battle with controversy seemingly following the side wherever it goes and the next-nearest options would be Aston Martin with its Canadian backing or Red Bull thanks to its now-former driver Checo Perez.  But Cadillac will be hoping to out-American all of those and team boss Graeme Lowdon acknowledged that “fans would love to see an American driver in an American team” when speaking with Motorsport.com earlier this year The team boss has since attempted to temper expectations adding that Cadillac will select its drivers “on merit” rather than the country on their passport.  the excitement around an American side launching its campaign at an American race is palpable and all kinds of work is going on behind the scenes at Cadillac’s various outposts across the US and Europe to best prepare it for the coming season.   The team is now racing to meet major deadlines like the first fire-up of its maiden F1 car the planned end-of-January shakedown in Barcelona next year Cadillac just needs to assemble a team that can unite America’s love of motorsport design a livery that screams “freedom” and create a car that rumbles like the thunder over Mount Rushmore there’ll just be the small task of winning a race or two to secure its lifelong supporters MIAMI — Ahead of the Cadillac Formula 1 team’s launch event on Saturday at the Miami Grand Prix team principal Graeme Lowdon confirmed to The Athletic that the team has not signed any drivers as of Friday and that no driver announcement will come this weekend His comments come in the wake of rumors that former Red Bull driver Sergio Pérez has already signed with the team who lost his seat at Red Bull at the end of the 2024 season told Formula1.com in early April that he has given himself “at least six months to get all my options on the table.” “The reality is that we’ve got lots of parallel tracks that all need to come together for the first race in 2026 selecting the drivers is part of that,” Lowdon said on Friday “but we’re in kind of in an interesting situation because we’re out with synchronization with the other teams.” Pressed on whether Cadillac had made any signings at all – with Lowdon aware of media reports in Germany claiming Pérez had signed a multi-year deal – he shook his head to indicate they had not Lowdon made similar comments in a media session in March, just days after the FIA and F1 approved General Motors and TWG Motorsports’ application for Cadillac to join the grid in 2026 as the sport’s 11th team Cadillac had not been able to be involved in the driver market until it received that confirmation But that left Cadillac in a tricky position because “certain drivers are tied up for certain periods,” Lowdon said While the 2026 drivers’ market isn’t set in stone which could allow veterans such as Pérez a way back onto the grid It could also be a way to bring in fresh talent with American Formula 2 driver Jak Crawford or IndyCar star Colton Herta I might go to this team,’” Lowdon said Friday in Miami We’ve got two and it turns out everybody wants to drive a Cadillac One of the key things we need to do is build the car for the drivers to actually race.” While drivers are part of the equation to get Cadillac up and running for its 2026 debut “we kind of have a timeline for everything and the driver announcement is not happening this weekend,” Lowdon said Lowdon did admit that Cadillac does have the flexibility to get to know potential drivers a bit more — gaining a better understanding of their commitment and motivation before making a decision but we assess them on lots of different things and we’re in a good position — where we can take our time a little bit to do that.” The team principal said there were between six and 10 drivers on Cadillac’s radar who would be “very good additions to the team,” but he didn’t list names Top photo of Sergio Pérez: Mark Thompson/Getty Images playMax Verstappen opens up about his future in F1 (0:50)Max Verstappen speaks openly about his future in the sport of Formula One when his contract is up with Red Bull in 2028 MIAMI -- Rumors surrounding Sergio Pérez's alleged signing with the Cadillac team have exploded ahead of the Miami Grand Prix weekend but the truth is that Pérez has not signed with any team -- at least not yet -- and he will not be presented as a Cadillac driver in Miami this weekend Perez left Red Bull at the end of 2024 after a four years at the team with Liam Lawson announced as his replacement Sources told ESPN Pérez has not been in Miami recently does not plan to attend the 2025 Miami Grand Prix and will not be present at the Cadillac team launch to be held on Saturday night Sources say that the speculation has been caused by social media posts based on the location of the private plane normally used by Pérez which is rented out when he is not using it Cadillac is indeed an option for the Mexican driver who competed in Formula 1 from 2011 to 2024 with Sauber Sergio Perez left Red Bull at the end of 2024. Kym Illman/Getty ImagesCadillac's interest in Perez as a possible signing for 2026 was confirmed to ESPN by team advisor Mario Andretti in an interview with the ESPN Racing podcast a few weeks ago But Cadillac F1 team principal Graeme Lowdon recently said he has a shortlist of seven or eight drivers to choose from for his 2026 lineup as he has stated to F1.com and in other interviews is to wait six months before making a decision the Mexican has been enjoying time with his family vacationing with his children at Disneyland gone to the beach in Bermuda and Punta Mita enjoyed a life he had not known since moving to Europe to pursue his dream of becoming an F1 driver when he was 14 years old Pérez is also waiting to see what changes may occur on the F1 grid for 2026, because although most drivers are under contract, a "big fish" like Max Verstappen could shake up the market if he decides to leave Red Bull A possible move by the four-time world champion would generate a chain reaction that could open up spaces beyond the two seats available at Cadillac Aston Martin is said to be a possible destination for Verstappen, and even Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has expressed concern that Verstappen could leave the Milton Keynes team if the RB21 car is not competitive enough to take on McLaren but his team has explored other possibilities with other teams although they have not specified which ones or whether Julian Jakobi is still the agent who will handle this possible second stage of Pérez's career in F1 Nate Saunders and Laurence Edmondson geek out about Formula One and the personalities behind it on "Unlapped," ESPN's weekly F1 podcast. Listen to 'Unlapped' Also, last week Formula1.Hu, a Hungarian website, published an interview with Sauber team principal Jonathan Wheatley, who was Red Bull's sporting director until 2024. In it, Wheatley praised Pérez as a driver, his feedback to the engineers, and his ability to bounce back from adversity. That interview does not mean that Sauber wants Checo Pérez, as it already has two drivers under contract, but it does put the Mexican's name on the map, as did the exclusive interview he gave to F1.com, which was clearly a way for the Mexican to say, "I'm here and I want to come back." Pérez had said, before it was known that Red Bull would pay his contract and drop him from the seat for 2025, that he would not return to F1 unless it was to drive a car that could compete for points. Cadillac, as a new team will have to pay its dues, adapt, and go through a development process, and expectations for 2026 will be set accordingly. That could be a very tough way to enter the sport So we want to make sure that we do that the right way Lowdon shares that perspective and suggested that while an IndyCar driver could make the switch to F1 it might not be the best move for either team or driver right now you've got to do every single thing you can to win "We want the best drivers we can possibly get "But the starting point is we've got to be competitive "What the American fans want is an American driver in an American team nothing prevents all of that from happening and for us to be selecting on merit "It just reduces the natural chances of something happening like that." Cadillac Formula 1 boss Dan Towriss admits the team faces a serious challenge to be fully prepared for its arrival on the grid in 2026. F1 formally confirmed in March that Cadillac will join the grid in 2026, initially using customer Ferrari power units, after a drawn-out process of rejection and then finally acceptance from F1's commercial body. Having finally landed that entry, Cadillac now has to prepare a car to run at F1's first official test under the new regulations at the end of January. Speaking to The Race at a special Miami Grand Prix business leaders forum hosted jointly by The Race and American news outlet Axios, TWG Motorsport CEO Towriss explained the huge scale of the challenge his team faces to be ready in time. “It certainly was a relief, or a momentary relief, and then you suddenly realise that the countdown has begun to be on the grid,” said Towriss, who conceded a "lack of track time" will also hurt the team before it makes its debut. “In the shop, there's a clock coming down. So everybody knows every day that time is not on our side. And so the intensity continues to pick up from that standpoint. "We had a windtunnel model, but it didn't have the Pirelli tyres, it had a modelled version of them. “And so just some of those little differences, and not being able to correlate that to the track, and just the data that that a new team wouldn't have relative to an existing team. "All those are going to be challenges which we think we can overcome, but certainly we're up against that." Another problem for Cadillac as it fills positions in the team is that the chosen candidates often face gardening leaves with the previous employers, and cannot join immediately. “The good news we've been hiring for a number of years,” said Towriss. “And so we've been able to bring on some tremendous talent in F1, with a lot of experience from that standpoint, into the team, and we work through those gardening leaves. “It continues to be a challenge as new people come on from that standpoint, for sure, but we're happy with the team that we have, and we have the arrangements in place to give us the flexibility we need to build out the team.” The team it currently building its new US manufacturing base in Fishers, Indiana, but it won’t be completed until 2026. Thus for the first car that work will be done elsewhere. “From a commercial standpoint we expect Fishers to be open in late Q1 of next year, and then it'll continue,” said Towriss. “Some of the manufacturing capabilities will continue to come online. And we'll very carefully bring things in house once we're confident that we're ready to take those over.” Towriss believes the “adversity” associated with the initial rejection of the team’s entry bid has strengthened its resolve – and helped to forge closer bonds with partner General Motors. “Honestly, we're better for it,” Towriss added. “I'm glad I didn't know at the beginning how difficult it was going to be, and all that we would have to go through to get to that approval process. “But it's forged the partnership with GM, and it's stronger than it would have been had we just been whisked right in. “I think what we were able to build over that period of time, the team that Graeme [Lowdon, pictured below] has put together at Silverstone, wouldn't be where they are today if it were not for the adversity. The team passed the first stage of the entry process when it was approved by the FIA under the Andretti name in October 2023. However, it did not initially get through the second stage of a commercial agreement with the F1 organisation, against a background of strong opposition from the 10 existing teams. Dropping the Andretti name and confirming the team would be a full works entry eventually propelled by a GM-built power unit ultimately swayed the decision, with much resting on what a new manufacturer entry would bring to F1. Formula 1 finally indicated in November last year that Cadillac would be accepted for 2026 once all the boxes were ticked. However, full formal confirmation of the entry only came on March 7, followed on April 23 by FIA approval of GM as a power unit supplier from 2029. Towriss concedes that getting the entry approved was a complicated process. “A lot of it was just demonstrating the value, and doing all the things necessary over that period of time,” he said. “And you have to invest a lot. You can't just do a presentation and say, ‘I want to come to F1.’ You have to show all the things that you can do. "We were hiring, we had a car in the windtunnel, and we were doing all these things from a design standpoint to demonstrate that the things that were in the PowerPoint, the presentation, were valid. “And then commercially we had to demonstrate value, and the partnership with GM, all those things together. And we were told ‘No,’ many times, sometimes nicely, sometimes not so nicely! “But it was all able to come together eventually, and they saw the value that we bring to the series. And now we're here we feel very welcomed to be in F1, and we're really excited to be on the grid in 2026.” Towriss confirmed that since the entry had been approved the key stakeholders in F1 have also been more positive towards the team. “It's been a lot more cooperative,” he said. “I think we feel very welcomed on the grid. The partnership we have with Ferrari in this interim period before the Cadillac PU comes online has been fantastic. “But really, all the team principals have reached out. It's been great to speak with them. F1 has been fantastic, Liberty, the FIA. Now that we're here it's great, now we can just focus on racing.” Please accept marketing cookies to enable YouTube videos. The much-anticipated Cadillac Formula 1 team launch event held during the 2025 Miami Grand Prix weekend was met with mixed reactions from fans of the sport. With the American brand releasing a teaser video of what to expect when the team hits the grid in 2026, fans were quick to have their say. In an exclusive event on Saturday evening at Miami Beach, expectations were high. In fact, the official Cadillac F1 team website crashed due to the increased traffic from fans wanting to know more. View this post on InstagramA post shared by Cadillac Formula 1 Team (@cadillacf1) drew crowds of fans wanting to know which drivers they were choosing for their 2026 campaign - an answer that never came Despite the buildup and expectations of a livery reveal all that came was a teaser video which confirmed certain branding elements like the team logo The team also hinted at a blue-and-white color scheme reflecting American international motorsports colors it fell short for a large proportion of fans QuietLowLife on Reddit said the following: "I sat thru the whole video waiting for a car with their livery and all I got was lame music Weren't they going to reveal that yesterday?" Another noted: "I really hope they are gonna make further announcements else they over hyped their launch!" One labelled it as "generic": "That was as generic as it gets it could have been an ad for a watch as much as it is for a formula 1 team but whatever do you think they'll battle for points from the start?" Perhaps the most important thing we've learnt from this reveal is the love for Sergio Perez crowds chanted the former F1 driver's name Perez has been strongly linked with one of the seats after being dropped by Red Bull after the 2024 season Mario Andretti, discussing the option of the Mexican driver, told ESPN, via PlanetF1 "If Michael had been by his side, Mick would be a regular driver in Formula 1 today," he told F1-Insider via Planet F1 the name Schumacher has even more charisma in the USA than in Europe Formula 1 could continue to use this name." Cadillac team principal Graeme Lowdon has explained the thinking process behind forming the driver line-up for F1's newest team Cadillac boss Graeme Lowdon believes there is a "lot less competitive tension" in 2025 as the team looks to form its driver line-up for 2026 The General Motors-backed team is entering F1 as a Ferrari customer team in 2026 with the identity of the driver pairing yet to be confirmed.  Sergio Perez has not signed a deal with the team with other drivers such as Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu also linked to one of the two seats Colton Herta has also been heavily linked to moving across from IndyCar although he still does not hold enough points to earn an FIA super-licence and must finish fourth or higher in this season's championship to reach the 40-point threshold.  Lowdon believes that the team has a better chance to observe the driver market going into 2026 and will ultimately decide its pairing "on merit" and no other factor and we've narrowed it down quite a bit," Lowdon explained to Sky Sports F1 "We were effectively kept out of the last round of driver discussions because we didn't have an entry and were in a slightly unusual position.  "But it also means there is a lot less competitive tension and we can take a little bit of time.  the number one priority for us is to have something for the driver to drive and that is where a lot of the management bandwidth is.  everyone would love to see an American driver in an American team with an American engine there is nothing stopping a boy or girl with an American passport from driving for an American Formula 1 team.  and if the driver happens to be an American that is something the fans would really like "But we've got to respect the world championship and if we want to be competitive as we can we must choose everyone in the team on merit." Recently spotted in public testing this flagship SUV looks nearly ready for primetime You’d be right in thinking you’ve seen this somewhere before, as the GV90 was previewed as the Neolun concept at last year’s New York International Auto Show Unlike many show cars watered down for production this one has largely stayed the course.  the GV90 comes in well over five meters long and makes no attempt to hide its size The front is defined by twin horizontally stacked LED light strips flanking a large Those lighting elements continue just behind the front fenders tracing the edge where the clamshell hood meets the front doors a layered chrome pattern decorates the lower front bumper with additional brightwork running along the rocker panels and wrapping around the rear of the vehicle The bodywork avoids harsh creases or busy design tricks, instead relying on clean surfaces and sheer presence to sell the design. Some variants of the GV90 will be available with Rolls Royce-style coach doors and the two-tiered LED lighting theme upfront repeats within the taillight clusters in the name of continuity Spy shots reveal four individual massaging seats with the second row separated by a substantial center console equipped with cup holders Read: What We Know About Mercedes-AMG’s 1,000 HP Super Electric SUV expect a colossal pillar-to-pillar OLED instrument cluster and infotainment display wireless phone connectivity and a host of convenience features to keep up with the Benz’s Buyers are said to be able to spec the GV90 with radiant heating and an electrochromic glass roof that can block out the sun in multi-configurable ways A full suite of level 2 semi-autonomous driving aids will be available.  While it was initially believed that the GV90 might ride on Hyundai’s existing E-GMP platform shared with models like the Ioniq 5 and Kia EV9 recent reports suggest that Genesis is finishing work on a new This advanced 800V architecture supports ultra-fast charging allowing the GV90 to recharge from 10 to 80 percent in about 20 minutes when connected to a 350-kW DC fast charger with an electric motor on each axle delivering a combined output of nearly 500 horsepower (368 kW) in base models with higher figures expected in flagship trims The GV90 is expected to use a 99.8-kWh battery pack offering an estimated range of over 300 miles per charge Larger battery options may also be available More: Everything We Know About Mazda’s Next-Gen CX-5 Hybrid Vehicle-to-grid (V2G) and vehicle-to-load (V2L) technology will enable the premium SUV to be a backup power source for homes and electronic devices the GV90 will feature electronically controlled dampers and an advanced torque-vectoring system to optimize traction and handling An official debut was originally expected sometime this year but recent reports out of Korea suggest the timeline has shifted with production scheduled to begin at Hyundai’s dedicated EV facility in Ulsan Would you consider a full-size electric Genesis over the usual suspects from Germany Cadillac's V-Series has firmly established itself over the past two decades as a purveyor of world-class sports sedans The CT5-V a midgrade model in the CT5 lineup that competes directly against the Mercedes-AMG C43 and the BMW M340i to see how it compares with those European rivals I was impressed by the Caddy's athletic driving dynamics and advanced infotainment and assistance tech suite The base four-cylinder CT5 starts at $47,595 while the fire-breathing supercharged V8 CT5-V Blackwing ups the asking price to $95,595 about $3,000 less than the comparable BMW M340i and $5,000 less than the Mercedes-AMG C43 which includes a redesigned mesh grille and new stacked LED headlights framed by vertical waterfall running lights the base CT5-V is about 100 pounds heavier than the comparable M340i and 100 pounds lighter than AMG's C63 all-aluminum V6 producing 360 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque It's paired to a 10-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels The turbo six fits between the 237-horsepower turbo four cylinder and 335-horsepower V6 that power the regular CT5 and the 668 supercharged V8 that lives under the Blackwing's hood The CT5-V boasts EPA fuel economy ratings of 17 mpg city 2 and 9 mpg below the more powerful offerings from Mercedes and BMW Cadillac spent a lot of time and money on the CT5-V's suspension The car feels balanced and neutral with only minor hints of oversteer helped greatly by its standard limited-slip differential that moderates power delivery to the rear wheels to optimize traction and its magnetic dampers that make constant adjustments based on road conditions Stomp on the gas and the CT5-V launches without hesitation The twin-turbo V6 delivers plenty of oomph while the 10-speed automatic shifts quickly and crisply The engine and quad-exhaust also team up to produce a very pleasant rumble the rear-wheel-drive CT5-V can do 0 to 60 mph in a solid 4.6 seconds on par with the comparable BMW and AMG's respective 4.4-second and 4.3-second manufacturer-claimed times My only real complaint is that the CT5-V could use some more power to fully take advantage of its excellence handling without upgrading to the Blackwing and its six-figure price tag The CT5-V functioned perfectly on the highway as a quiet and relaxed luxury cruiser That experience was certainly helped by its hands-free driving capabilities Super Cruise proved incredibly easy and intuitive to use while cruising and in stop-and-go traffic It operated like a normal adaptive cruise control system until it detected a stretch of highway suitable for hands-free driving it gave me the green light to take my hands off the steering wheel The cabin's black soft-touch surfaces and gray carbon fiber accents give off a very business-like feel There aren't many design flourishes; the only pops of color come from the massive 33-inch digital screen on the front dash it's very well designed with a good mix of logically placed digital controls and easy-to-use physical controls The screen is home to Cadillac's Google-based infotainment system which allows for integration of helpful features such as Google Maps on the instrument display in front of the driver found on many recently updated GM products My test car's heated and ventilated seats looked elegant but a bit plain Cadillac does offer different colors and designs Head and legroom are also on par with its German rivals The Caddy's battery is in the trunk instead of the engine compartment It doesn't get nearly the attention of its Teutonic rivals nor does it garner the praise of its pricier the CT5-V is a fine sports sedan that handles like it's riding on rails and is packed with industry-leading tech All that for thousands less than the Mercedes
