Mark Hughes has taken 20 points from 17 games with Carlisle
Mark Hughes says conversations are ongoing about whether he stays on as Carlisle United head coach for next season
Carlisle's relegation to the National League was confirmed last Saturday after defeat at Cheltenham Town
On Monday the club's sporting director, Rob Clarkson, left his post with immediate effect
Deciding Hughes' future is now one of the main priorities for the Piatak family
"There are lots of conversations going on - not only with me
but with players to get a real understanding of what happened this year," Hughes told BBC Radio Cumbria
If there's a will on all sides to do it
Hughes was brought to Brunton Park in February after Mike Williamson was sacked
with Carlisle five points from safety and 18 games remaining
But the Welshman was unable to pull them out of trouble with their best run of form - 10 points from four games - arriving when it was almost too late
While disappointed he could not do what he was brought in for
says he has enjoyed his time in Cumbria and is open to dropping down into the fifth tier
"It's been difficult and we and I haven't achieved what we set out to do," he added
"But I've really enjoyed my time here
I've had a fantastic welcome from everyone in Carlisle
"That part of it I've really enjoyed and just being on the touchline and having the opportunity to manage a team through difficult games and difficult circumstances
"That's what I miss when I'm out of the game."

After defeating the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round
the Pacers faced Cavaliers in Game 1 of the second round series
the NBA announced a historic feat regarding Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle.
"Congrats to Rick Carlisle of the @Pacers for moving into 14th on the all-time playoff COACHING WINS list!" posted the official social media account of the NBA.
Carlisle is now No. 14 on the all-time playoff coaching wins list. He boasts 76 wins in his coaching career, passing NBA legend Chuck Daly posted 75 wins, most of which came during his time with the Detroit Pistons
as well as three-time NBA Coach of the Year Don Nelson
The following coaches are currently ranked ahead of Carlisle in the all-time playoff coaching wins: Rick Adelman, Lenny Wilkens, George Karl, K.C. Jones, Jerry Sloan, Red Auerbach, Larry Brown, Steve Kerr, Erik Spoelstra, Doc Rivers
Jackson ranked No. 1 on the all-time playoff coaching wins with 229 victories, most of which came during his time with the Chicago Bulls that had Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen in the roster
Indiana Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle
In Rick Carlisle's most recent victory in the playoffs, the Pacers were led by Tyrese Haliburton
and Andrew Nembhard with 23 points and six assists
the Indiana Pacers will be back on the court on Tuesday
set to face the Cleveland Cavaliers at 7 p.m
The New York native played for the Boston Celtics
and the then-New Jersey Nets before embarking on a very successful coaching career
Carlisle has been on the staff of five NBA franchises (Indiana Pacers

Carlisle knows high-level basketball when he sees it
Prior to the Eastern Conference Semifinals series kicking off versus the Cleveland Cavaliers
Carlisle heaped some massive praise on the opposition
Carlisle on Cavs: "I think the word is consistency
They don't have anyone who's played over 30 or 31 minutes a game and they've done some really nice strategic resting over the year that has them very fresh at a time when a lot of teams are wearing down."
Carlisle's claim of "consistency" clearly comes from a stellar regular season in which the Cavs won 64 regular season games
Seven Cleveland players averaged double-figures — led by Donovan Mitchell (24.0 PPG)
The Cavs will have to conjure up a bit more consistency given the result of Game 1
Indiana surprised everyone by walking into Cleveland and coming away with a 121-112 victory
The Pacers went up 11 in the first quarter and never looked back

Indiana was unconscious from behind the arc
The Pacers went 19-of-32 from three (52.8 percent)
Being able to match Cleveland's depth and talent is a tall task for practically any team in the NBA
Carlisle devised a gameplan to utilize his bench effectively while not running his starters into the ground with heavy minutes
Nembhard played the most minutes of any Pacers player (37)
Carlisle was able to integrate six Pacers off the bench into the game
If Indiana can consistently get good bench play while not overworking its starters
this could end up being a far more competitive series than people assumed it to be going in

Plans for St Cuthbert's Garden Village include 10,000 houses and will take decades to complete
A six-week consultation on plans for a village of 10,000 new homes is coming to an end
Construction of St Cuthbert's Garden Village
is expected to span 30 to 40 years and will include houses
A draft plan for the project was approved by Cumberland Council earlier this year and those wishing to comment have until 17:00 BST on 6 May
Councillor Bob Kelly said it was a "large-scale and complex" plan and the authority wanted to know whether it had "got it right" before it went to the government
The council said it was the last chance to comment on the draft policies and the map of the village
executive member for policy and regulatory services
said: "Given its scale and complexity
the village isn't something that can be delivered overnight
delivering the Carlisle Southern Link Road to unlock St Cuthbert's was the first major stepping stone and we are now well on the way with its construction
"Our consultation is an opportunity for anyone with an interest to tell us whether or not we have got it right."

Indiana coach Rick Carlisle weighed in on his team’s recipe for sustained success against a juggernaut opponent
The fourth-seeded Pacers (50-32) kept the first-seeded Cavaliers (64-18) on their heels throughout the night

they amassed 12-point advantages in the second and third quarters
spearheaded by star shooting guard Donovan Mitchell
taking a four-point edge late in the third frame
The teams then exchanged blows to begin the fourth quarter
Indiana star point guard Tyrese Haliburton drilled a step-back 3-pointer to take a 104-102 lead with 6:21 remaining

Carlisle stressed the importance of Indiana not growing complacent and remaining assertive offensively throughout the series
“We gotta be in attack mode to have a chance to beat this team,” Carlisle said
we just encourage our guys to play free and let it ride.”
Two of his triples came during his squad’s late-game run as he came up clutch in the back-and-forth affair
offsetting Mitchell’s game-high 33-point performance
That marked its second-worst efficiency mark of the season
While Carlisle appeared relatively pleased with Indiana’s two-way effort in Game 1
he noted that his team needs to improve its rebounding and ball security
“We were able to get enough stops at key times
That was really important,” Carlisle said

beating them at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse 121-112 in Game 1
Indiana was led by Andrew Nembhard's 23 points and enjoyed six players in double-figures. Tyrese Haliburton offered 13 assists
and it was clear from the start of the game that the Pacers would get to play their brand of basketball
Their Game 1 win, in many ways, was similar to their first two wins in the first round against the Milwaukee Bucks
Nembhard was spectacular at creating pressure on defense
and everyone hit the shots they needed to.
head coach Rick Carlisle explained how the Pacers plan on building on the win.
"We've got to be in attack mode to have a chance to beat this team," he said
we just encourage our guys to play free and let it ride
we were able to get enough stops at key times
The Pacers and Cavs each grabbed 43 rebounds
so at least the Pacers weren't beaten on the glass
although they did turn the ball over nine more times than Cleveland
which is an unfortunate symptom of playing fast
Indiana will only get one day off before taking on Cleveland in Game 2 on Tuesday
